Identity Crisis Of Asian Americans
Introduction
Tracing back to the very first Asian immigrants in America, which were Filipinos arrived in Morro
Bay, California, Asian immigrants have stepped on this land of freedom and opportunity for decades
(Borah, 1997). Until 2011, based on the statistics by U.S. census Bureau, Asian Americans comprised
about 5.6% of the entire population in the United States. However, compared to other races in the
United States, Asian Americans are still more likely to be neglected. They are more like guests than
hosts in this country. The perpetual foreigner is a particular adjective to describe Asian Americans.
Moreover, this neglecting comes from both inside and outside. In other words, not just other races
have stereotypes or discrimination ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The identity crisis occurs when individuals are facing the dilemma of either of the culture to make
some fundamental decisions. From certain angle it is more severe on second generation Asian
Americans than the first generation Asian Americans. According to Justin Chan, a second generation
Chinese American, she states that to build a bicultural identity is actually a balancing act for her. In
order to feel more comfortable in both cultural groups, second generation Asian Americans choose to
identify differently when facing different people. They need to punctuate their American side when
dealing with non Asian peers and also punctuate their Asian side at home when facing their families.
This kind of balancing act is widely applied to second generation Asian Americans.
The Rise of Asian Americans is a relatively representative research because of its large number of
sampling. The following statistics expert from the research shows how Asian Americans identify
themselves. Over 3500 participants from all 50 states were involved. Based on the research, only 14%
of Asian Americans label themselves as a typical American . Among them, 28% the native born Asian

Causes Of Valley Forge Dbq Essay
The cold, harsh winter in Valley Forge, Pennsylvania dejects the soldiers who continue to starve,
freeze, and remain ill. The Continental Army doesn t even know whether they will survive due to
these bad conditions, and most of the soldiers start to lose their hope, strength, and willingness. It all
started when George Washington was granted the general of the American army by the Continental
Congress in 1775. His soldiers have been struggling day and night to fight for their independence and
freedom. However, Washington s troops were forced to retreat to Pennsylvania by the British army,
and are now stuck in the winter camp at Valley Forge. It is cold, the air is smokey, and there is no
supplies or goods left for the soldiers. Also, there is a disease spreading around the camp like a virus
that continues to infect the Continental Army. How will they ever ... Show more content on

This can be shown in Document C which was written in 1777 by Dr. Albigence Waldo who was a
Connecticut surgeon who helped care for the sick soldiers. This doctor wrote, A general cry thro the
Camp this Evening among the Soldiers, No Meat! No Meat! the Distant vales Echo d back the
melancholy sound No Meat! No Meat! (Waldo, 1777) This means that during the winter, the army had
no meat to strengthen the soldiers and provide them protein. This also means that they soldiers
probably starved during their miserable time at Valley Forge. This is significant because without meat,
the soldiers will not be capable of facing the British army. Therefore, their energy will soon run out
because they will be running and fighting on an empty stomach. Clearly, the soldiers should leave the
winter camp because they will likely die if they stay. The troops could also die because they will
potentially die from the cold due to the lack of

Out Of State Tuition
Out of state tuition shouldn t limit people who seek a better education. When looking for collages to
go to people tend to stay in state because the cost is cheaper. What is the actual tax dollars that go to
the in state students? Schools collage shouldn t be limited to just your state based on cost but it should
be something you chose based on how good the school is. To fix this problem you could either have a
universal tax that gives money to all schools in America this way schools have to give everyone who
wants to go to their school pay the same cost. The other idea I have to fix this problem is to use the
money the schools get already and have everyone take a cut this would increase instate tuition but also
eliminate out of state tuition. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As we ve seen there are schools that do so but not too many are willing to follow that. Another answer
to this problem is scholarships and grants. But not all of us are the next Einstein or Coble Bryant. And
for those individuals there are options for them. But for us the few that are trying to strive for
improvement for those that have yet to prove the worth in this world can there more scholarships that
can be won by us students who are not the best of the best but want to learn. Cheaper tuition, more
school scholarships, easier scholarships, and my personal favorite grants are ways we can make
education more affordable to the average college student. I just wish that we dint live in a world where
just the clearly successful make it easy. but for those like us who have to pay full price it hurts, but
hopefully collages will eventually give up on go out of their way to help stunts go to their schools

Chapter 4 Persepolis
Persepolis is Marjane Satrapi s memoir of growing up in Iran during the Islamic Revolution. Marji
came from a family in which her parents were thought of being progressive and knew more about the
views on government. During the Revolution in Iran, there were many impactful events that were
going on. There were many changes in the way that the government was working, and life in Iran at
this time was very difficult because there was changes being made all the time and most of the time
there were more and more restrictions going on. Also, many people would do demonstrations in public
places and that is when things would get out of hand because many people wanted to stand up for their

Chapter 4 Persepolis There was many restrictions from the government that only made people even
more upset because they were being restricted things that would make them more happy in such
difficult times. Something that this chapter reveals about the life in Iran is that there were many things
that people were not allowed to do, and violence would be used against them. Many people like Marji
s father would take pictures of the demonstrations to see how they were going. My father had gone to
take some photos of the demonstration but this time he was very late... he took photos every day, it
was strictly forbidden. He had been arrested once but escaped at last minute (Satrapi 29). This scene is
significant because, it shows that their government was mostly based off restrictions and what people
should do and not do, having a certain type of expectation. Even though people were highly abused by
the police, when caught doing things like taking pictures, the people would still take the risk and did
what they thought was best for themselves, at this point people were starting to not take it anymore

Technology Management Functions
Technology and Management Functions
Introduction
Information technology is transforming how business and government enterprises operate and, as a
result, how people work. Information is the critical raw material for decision making and the
foundation for producing products and providing services. People create information; people use
information; people control information. The growing economic importance of information in modern
society led sociologists such as Alvin Toffler and John Naisbitt to characterize our society as the
Information Age. In fact, more than half of today s workforce is employed in information related jobs,
compared to less than 20 percent 30 years ago. Most of those people spend a significant portion of

Final Design For The Ball Sorting Device Essay
Final Design
Our final design for the ball sorting device is composed of 5 primary components: Ramp, separation
device, dome, base, and collection device.
Separation device:
The need for a separation device came to attention as interference between the balls on the ramp as
well as the dome was observed. To avoid interference there needed to be space between the balls. The
separation device is a hollow, circular cylinder with rods inserted horizontally (parallel to the radius
and perpendicular to the height) from one side and out throughout the other, but at different angles,
with vertical spacing between the rods. This would basically function like a pegboard; As the balls fall
into the cylinder they will collide with the road and will fall onto either side of the rod, and continue
falling until they hit another rod. Each time they hit a rod there will be a ½ probability for the balls to
tilt towards either side. A total of of rods were inserted. A cardboard tube was used as the cylinder and
chopsticks as the rods. The materials chosen were cheap, lightweight, and strong enough. This
introduces randomness in the system as well the slowing of the balls falling so that space between the
balls are created. The balls then enter the ramp.
Ramp:
The ramp is the source of energy for the balls. Energy here is in the form of gravity, as the start of the
ramp is elevated to and it provides potential energy using the formula, where m is the mass of the
individual balls provided, h as

Pamela Speed Alison Teichgraeber English 1301 October 10, 2010 A Look into the Life of Hip Hop
The misunderstood subculture of music that many have come to know as hip hop is given a critical
examination by James McBride in his essay Hip Hop Planet. McBride provides the reader with direct
insight into the influence that hip hop music has played in his life, as well as the lives of the American
society. From the capitalist freedom that hip hop music embodies to the disjointed families that plague
this country, McBride explains that hip hop music has a place for everyone. The implications that he
presents in this essay about hip hop music suggest that this movement symbolizes and encapsulates
the struggle of various individual on ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In his short overview of the origination of the Sugar Hill Gang in the mid 1970 s, the author makes it
apparent the hip hop grew out of necessity due to lack of funding in the art programs in New York
City school system. This neoclassical movement of the mid 1970 s grew like a wildflower that sprouts
through the cracks of a modern day concrete jungle. One of the more interesting implications that are
presented in the later parts of this essay is the economic ramifications of the hip hop culture. McBride
paints the picture of a lower income Caucasian American teenager in Dayton, Ohio who finds truth in
the story of hip hop. McBride notes: Henry is a model American teenager and the prototypical
consumer at which the hip hop industry is squarely aimed, which has his parents sitting up in their
seats. The music that was once the purview of black America has gone white and gone commercial all
at once. A sea of white faces now rises up to greet rap groups as they perform, many of the teenagers
like Henry, a NASCAR fanatic and self described redneck (468) The connection that is drawn between
the formerly economically challenged rapper and the child whose parent works two jobs, and can t pay
his child s college tuition is paramount in making this point. The illusion of the American dream is set
through many hip hop songs. The picture of the evolution of the rags to riches story is set by many
rappers in current hip hop culture, this picture is the basic premise

Tensions Of The Antebellum Period Essay
Ethan Bagdasarian Professor Gregor History 111 November 8, 2017 The Tensions of the Antebellum
Period America has fought in numerous wars, two world wars even, but the deadliest one was the war
against itself. America s first and only civil war was a brutal campaign of Americans versus
Americans, brothers versus brothers, and resulted in over 600,000 deaths (White). Looking past at
America s history this war was seemingly inevitable. Some say the start of the civil war was when
Confederate troops attacked Union soldiers at Fort Sumter. While this officially started the war, what
is more important are the events causing the tension that lead up to this breaking point. One reason for
the civil war was because the North and the South had strikingly different cultures, cultures that
clashed against each other. The North was a more liberal, abolitionist, industrial culture while the
south was a conservative agrarian based area. The second reason for the outbreak of civil war was due
to the increasing political tension within the union. Southern states who feared the removal of slavery
threatened to secede if the republican candidate, Abraham Lincoln. was elected. Although there were
many events that contributed to the civil war, the differing cultures of the North and South, and the
political tension between the North and the South, were the two main events that caused the deadliest
conflict in American history. The North industrialized much quicker than the less

Playground Safety Essay example
Kids love to play outside with their outdoor toys, because that is their job. The job of the parents is to
ensure that diligent attention is paid to the children at play. The National Program for Playground
Safety has reported that inadequate supervision contributed to about 40 percent of all playground
injuries. Swing set safety guidelines have been developed to guide parents, childcare providers and
school officials to the best measures to prevent accidents on playground equipment. In addition to
supervision, the child should be instructed on how to play safely, and the caregiver should ensure that
the child is wearing appropriate play clothes and sturdy shoes.

Another important consideration is visibility from the home. If the outdoor toys and equipment are
visible from a kitchen or den, the parents will be able to observe older children who may require less
supervision. An impact absorbing surface is essential since statistics reveal that up to 70 percent of
playground injuries are caused by falls. Asphalt and concrete surfaces should be avoided at all costs.
Shredded rubber has the best impact absorption and does not deteriorate or attract insects. Other
appropriate surfaces include cedar mulch, sand, wood chips and pea gravel. It is recommended that the
material be 9 to 12 inches deep and extend 6 feet from all sides of the equipment.
A leading cause of playground accidents comes from youngsters playing on equipment made for older
kids. Swing set safety guidelines emphasize that kids outdoor toys should be age appropriate. If the
child must be lifted to use the play set, it is not safe for them to play on. Monkey bars constructed
above the swings should be avoided, because falling on a swing below can result in serious injury.
Monkey bars should stand alone and be separate from the swing set. Many swing sets have a fort with
a slide attached. Most slides are 10 feet long which requires a 5 foot high deck on the fort, and this is
appropriate for younger children.
There are many resources online to learn about swing set safety guidelines. The National Program

The Innovators of American Literature
From their critical assessments on how to improve themselves and to the American public that they
influenced by their writings, Jonathan Edwards and Benjamin Franklin illustrate American themes in
their personal narratives that quintessentially make part of American Literature. Although they lived in
different times during the early development of the United States of America and wrote for different
purposes, they share common themes. Their influence by their environment, individualism, proposals
for a better society, and events that affected their society generate from their writings. By analyzing

Benjamin Franklin did not hold his family beliefs of Christianity, but from his early environment, he
drew his relationship to God as a Deist. Franklin believed there is a Supreme Being and it is our job to
discover our own reality by reasoning. In his autobiography, he notes several epiphanies that changed
his lifestyle. For example, he regretted his leaving Miss Read for England without pursuing their
relationship further. He calls these regrets or wrongdoings Erratum (Lauter 788). The spirituality of
Franklin and Edwards is distinctive, and their writings reflect their experiences and growth of
improvement. Franklin as a Deist felt that he created his destiny by the decisions he made. His
autobiography illustrates his faults and accomplishments. This openness aims to the audience, the
American, in order for them to reevaluate themselves and improve from their weaknesses. Franklin
wanted Americans to become better Americans. With Edwards beliefs, he felt that god predestined
every man, and only the elect entered in the afterlife to heaven. He focuses his writing to the Christian
audience. His goal is to prepare them to become candidates to be elect and show how the elect can set
an example for the rest of the congregation. These men felt the responsibility to live a better life and
set the example for every man in their community. As individuals, they constantly contemplate and

Allusions In Lord Of The Rings
Among other things, Tolkien was perhaps chiefly a scholar of mythology, and despite his dislike of
allegory, his universe is shot through with mythological archetypes. Among Tolkien s obvious
mythological influences (Biblical, Celtic, Norse, and Arthurian mythologies, etc.), I believe Biblical
held the most significant effect on The Lord of the Rings, albeit Finnish/Nordic appears more so than
any other. Additionally, Tolkien wanted to publish The Silmarillion and The Lord of the Rings

Silmarillion, not just on the level of setting or context, but in terms of literary theme, symbol, and

truly understand the severity of certain character s explanations. For example, in the chapter Shadow
of the Past, Sam Gamgee depicts elves setting sail and leaving for the west. And I ve heard tell that
Elves are moving west. They do say they are going to the harbours, out away beyond the White

sailing, sailing over the sea, they are going into the West and leaving us (Tolkien 45.) To the average
reader of Lord of the Rings, one might just assume, oh...they are going to sail westward to another
land. No big deal, why is Sam freaking out over such a small detail. When in reality, Sam was
recalling the tale of the elves sailing west toward Valinar, as they left Middle Earth after the
destruction caused in the First Age, all coincidentally when Elves are

The Problem Of E Waste
E Waste may be described as a broad and growing range of electronics ranging from large household
devices such as refrigerators, air conditioners, cell phones, personal stereos and consumer electronics
to computers, which have been discarded by their users. (Puckett and Smith, 2002). While this
description is accurate, it is slightly ambiguous about the length of time before a device can actually
be considered waste. Often, owners discard their electronics long before they have reached the end of
their actual life cycle in order to upgrade to a newer model. In most cases the outgoing device finds its
way into the used market. This may prolong the life of the product by a few years, however all
electronic items eventually reach a point ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With devices becoming increasingly affordable, the replacement time for common consumer
electronics has also become shorter. Planned obsolescence is a significant contributor to the increase
in purchase of consumer electronics. Many companies these days limit software updates and features
to only a handful of new phones or tablets they offer, thus perpetuating the need to go out and
purchase the new model. The average use time before a consumer replaces their mobile phone is only
18 months even though it s actual life cycle may be much longer than that. PCs and laptops are usually
considered outdated within 3 4 years of purchase and are then replaced by their owners for newer and
faster models. Studies have estimated e waste generation worldwide at 20 to 50 million tonnes per
year with a steady increase of 8% to 10% annually. One of the methods to estimate the potential
volume of e waste in the present and the future is by analyzing sales figures of commercial
electronics. By taking into account how much we are buying, we may be able to approximate how
much will be added to this waste stream a few years down the line when newly purchased devices
become obsolete and are discarded. On the release of the latest iPad, electronic buy back firms stated
that consumers were trading in their older tablets at an unprecedented rate for the new iteration even
though their older tablets were completely functional and working.

The U.S. Constitution provides equal protection to all citizens, regardless of race, color, or state of

uniform application of the Forth Amendment. In contrast, a categorical exclusion of evidence obtained
through a mistake of law would have ensured equal application of the law and excluded inconsistency

more deference to the facts of the case than another court. For instance, one judge may consider

mistake was reasonable. Second, under Justice Kagan s approach, one state may have different
expectations about ambiguity or the level of legal expertise than another, which would lead to
inconsistent verdicts. For instance, a state that sets a higher standard for its police force might have a

Women In Canada
It is visible that the violence and discrimination experienced by Aboriginal women and girls in Canada
is a national tragedy, which has sadly received meager attention in our nation. Native Women s
Association of Canada (2013) explained how this has tragically led to the number of missing and
murdered Aboriginal women and girls in Canada being excessively high. Systematic oppression and
negligence from the Canadian Government to actively address this national tragedy were dominant
themes that were illustrated by the absence of research and data available on this subject. Additionally,
it was appalling to realize that no policies were established, but only politically charged strategies
were recommended to confront this grave social problem.
Dr. Ismael mentioned a critical point about how the absence of policies on missing and murdered
Aboriginal women speaks volumes of the Canadian Government s priorities, which converges to our
values as a nation. When a government neglects to establish policies to help eradicate a social issue, it
sets an undertone on a national and international level to what and whom they perceive as valuable. As

Observational learning is when learning happens by observing other people s actions. Observational
learning involves cognitive processes such as attention, motor skills, motivation, and memory. For
observational learning to take place the person who is observing the behavior needs to be paying

Amusing Ourselves To Death By Neil Postman Analysis
Among nerds and Trekkies, Neil Postman s portrayal of the Typographic Mind perhaps sounds very

He describes the act of reading having a sacred element, ritualistic and with a special meaning.
Reading was not casual as today with our abundance of leisure time. Whether by candlelight or the
morning sun, plow in one hand and a book in the other, reading was a serious endeavor with purpose.
Learning to read was the primary purpose of school (p. 61). Hence, the ability to read held so much
importance at the time because as Postman describes, the printed word had a monopoly on both
attention and intellect (p. 60). This print based culture made for a well informed public that could
equally grasp both historical references and complicated political matters of the day (p. 46). Again, it
is the Lincoln Douglas debate, the author highlights that portray this well informed public. The
audience for these deliberations represented an ability to transform the comprehension of seeing print
style long, convoluted, complex sentence to hearing them (p. 45). As the receiver of messages, this
well informed, literate audience of the eighteenth and nineteenth century carried this skill into many
areas of public

New Words Possimpible, Revertigo And Embiggen
Abstract
Aside from the closed grammar class, the open word class that consist of a large portion of the whole
corpus of English language has been accepting uncountable new wordings from various fields
continuously. The purpose of the essay is to analyze a few words that are invented by, and thus went
viral for some special reasons in popular TV series within the recent decades. The paper will take
insight into new words Possimpible, Revertigo and Embiggen that are brought to the world by famous

represent the action of making things wider, and Emsmallen could be created to refer to the action of
making smaller something. Possimpible still has its potential to be applied in varies fields of study to

Sociology 2XX
Critically anlayse a popular culture text utlising relevant theories and debates
In sociological theory there are many concepts discussed that are utilized in the analyses of society
and culture. Some of the main concepts are Postmodernism, Historical Materialism, Structuralism,
Interpretive Sociology and Poststructuralism to name a few. These theories are relevant to the research
of understanding certain or specific cultural texts. These concepts provide problems and solutions
associated with some of the research approaches fore mentioned. Analysing the main dimensions will

Dialectical materialism is the view that that the world exists independently of our perception of it and
that as it is sole reality it has primacy over the ideal, the imagined, and the spiritual.
In the film Pulp Fiction, by Quentin Tarantino the theme of capitalism was truly apparent, from the
discussion of the Big Mac in France by Jules and Vince to the success of the gang boss Marsellus. It is
relatively evident that it played a big part in making the film especially where other more obvious
displays of greed and capitalism are in the final scenes when the couple, Honey Bunny and Pumpkin,
holds up the restaurant. The man explains to his wife that nobody ever thinks to rob a coffee shop and
he makes the point that it is the perfect crime of opportunity. All of the primary and characters and
protagonists display materialistic personas, attempting to recreate their own past and future by means
of consumption and a form of class struggle against the gang leader, portraying a land owner or
bourgeoisie, by the workers .
Postmodernism is a term which is highly contested in the sociological world, where it is used to
indicate a significant detachment from modernism. It is easier to give the uses of the term; to give a
name to the present historical period, to name a specific style in arts and architecture and to name a
point of rupture or disjuncture in epistemology (Buchanan, 2010). For this,

Introduction
Section 4207 of the Affordable Care Act amends the FLSA (Fair Labor Standards Act) Break Time for
Nursing Mothers Provisions
Breastfeeding is one of the best methods for providing infants with a healthy start to life. Breast milk
helps the body fight off various bacteria and viruses that one s child might be at risk for catching.
Breastfed babies are thirty six percent less likely to die from sudden infant death syndrome and are
fifty five percent likely to become obese later in life, compared to babies who are not breastfeed.
(Workplace and Public Accommodations for Nursing Mothers, 2016) Not only is the child benefiting

Target Description
This law is a federal law, so I would want to reach out to the federal legislator Joe Donnelley.
Defining the Problem/ Assemble the Evidence
This law was intended to help new mothers, but there are still gaps in this law. Some issues come from
accessibility, coverage, and support. The Affordable Care Act requires employers to provide mothers
that are breastfeeding with a reasonable time and a space to express their milk. Unfortunately, only
forty percent of women returned to work with these accommodations. I believe this is an issue because
forty percent is an extremely small number and if this is a law, then that mean that various employers
are not giving nursing mothers the accommodation that they are supposed to have. Women are also
facing challenges with getting lactation support for no expense, which is supposed to be covered under
their insurance. Why pass a law to help nursing mothers if there are no records of mothers having
access to it? It is important for most mothers that their child is healthy and it is not fair to tell them
they have access to something that employers aren t giving them. Only six states have passed laws
expanding workplace breastfeeding accommodations to additional employees or extending
requirements for employers. I believe that extending the requirements for employers to make sure
nursing mothers are getting the time and the place is extremely important because it makes

Evaluating the Effectiveness and Efficiency of Structured...
Agarwal and Tanniru conducted a field experiment to evaluate the effectiveness and efficiency of
structured versus unstructured interviews, using both novice and experienced interviewers. The
experiment was conducted to compare the efficiency and effectiveness of the cognitive interview with
the standard information requirements interview. However, the experimental results did not indicate
that structured interviews enhanced recall. This triggered the experiment using the Cognitive

By random, a reference librarian was interviewed using either technique by an interviewer trained in
both.
The dependent variables: (1) the number of events elicited per each interview (efficiency), and (2) the
degree of completeness of details recalled per event (effectiveness) were examined.
Cognitive interview was found to be both more effective and more efficient than standard interviewing
techniques in eliciting episodic knowledge from reference librarians. In order for the cognitive
interview to be considered an effective interviewing technique, more than one rater must determine
that the degree of completeness of details of the events collected under the CI are higher than those
collected under the SI.
All interviews were conducted in private rooms individually. The interviews were conducted at the
institute of each patron. Ten students enrolled in a senior level expert system class who received
training on the SI and the CI during regularly scheduled class time. No one involved knew of the
details of the experiment or the types of techniques being tested. Interviewers received course credit
and monetary compensation for their participation.

extensively in both requirements analysis and knowledge acquisition. It is said that there are some
drawbacks associated with the use of interviews. Open interviews are seen as

What Role Does Ballet Play In The Swan
Ballet played an enormous role in this beautiful artistic story of The Swan, for the very simple reason
that every movement and every gesture signifies a different experience for someone who is opening

being able to transform herself into a swan, but about death, with the swan simply being a metaphor
for that. Watching Svetlana Zakharova performing The Swan she really used a combination of
masterful technique with expressiveness. It was like she was proving that dance could and should

Inclusive Practice in the Primary School.
How inclusive is Frederick Bird Primary School as a learning community?
Inclusive education is an unabashed announcement, a public and political declaration and celebration
of difference. (Corbett, J. 2001:134)
The principles of inclusion and their implications on school practice have been fiercely debated by
leading educational experts for many years. In 1994, delegates from 92 governments met at the world
conference on special needs education, to consider policy changes that would enable educators to
provide inclusive education for all. The result of this conference was the adoption of The Salamanca
Statement and Framework for Action which provides recommendations and stipulations for the

This is an essential exercise for any school striving to be inclusive. Ainscow (2007:3) argues that the
biggest challenge facing the education system, is the development of practices that will reach out to
learners failed by existing arrangements. It is my belief that the most effective way of tackling this
matter is through this collaborative way of working. This enables practitioners to challenge and
redefine entrenched views of difference that can have a negative impact on certain types of learners
and find new ways of moving forward.
This ethos is reflected in every day teaching and learning. Every child within the school is treated
respectfully as an individual and lessons are strategically planned to accommodate all needs and
aspirations. The level of differentiation employed can be seen clearly in the case of Kyle .
Kyle is a popular and intelligent Year 6 student. He is an all round sports enthusiast who relishes any
opportunity to take part in team experiences and possesses excellent leadership skills. However, Kyle
is dyslexic and came to Year 6 disengaged with his learning and lacking in self esteem and motivation.
It was through open conversations with previous teachers and his parents that we were able to
establish the basis for Kyle s disconnection with the curriculum. Kyle viewed himself as an incapable
underachiever due to the ability level of the work he was expected to produce. Through

Life In Milan Kundera s The Unbearable Lightness Of Being
In The Unbearable Lightness of Being , Milan Kundera informs readers that without the ability to
compare our lives to others, we cannot find meaning in our lives, but remain between life s lightness
and heaviness. He does this by illustrating the relationships between four characters: Tomas, Tereza,
Sabina, and Franz. The novel begins in the year 1968 with Tomas, who is a brilliant surgeon from
Prague and a perpetual bachelor. In a small town cafe, he fortuitously met Tereza, who was his
waitress; to Tereza, the moment was magical because one of her favorite compositions by Beethoven
was playing on the radio and that he enjoyed literature. Tereza evidently followed Tomas to Prague
with her life packed within a suitcase and she intended to offer her life to him. The two started living
with each other, but Tomas was incapable of terminating his bachelor lifestyle full of mistresses. He
tried to hide his infidelity, but Tereza found a letter from one of his mistresses, Sabina. She wrote to
Tomas saying, I want to make love to you in my studio. It will be like a stage surrounded by people.
The audience won t be allowed up close, but they won t be able to take their eyes off us. (Pg. 16).
Tomas confessed and told her that these sexual acts were separate from his love for her. This
information marred Tereza s mind; she starting having horrendous nightmares and began
contemplating suicide. He then married her, to relieve her of her distress. Yet he still kept his
mistresses. Eventually Sabina and Tereza become close friends, but Tereza s jealousy still remained
the same. Sabina, Tereza, and Tomas fled to Switzerland due to the Soviet Union inhabiting
Czechoslovakia. Tereza left behind her career as a photographer, became unemployed, and had to sit
home alone as Tomas continued his affairs. She then began to believe, when the strong were too weak
to hurt the weak, the weak have to be strong enough to leave. (Pg. 75). Then, she returned back to
Prague. Tomas was enjoying his liberation for a few days, but he gave up and left for Prague. This
evidently meant that the couple gave up their freedom because there was no chance that the couple
would be allowed to leave again due to the Communist regime. In

How Basketball Has Changed The World Essay
Basketball is one of the most popular which is beloved sports that is played today. Michael Jordan,
who played for the Washington Wizards and the Chicago Bulls once said, Just play, have fun, and

entertainment or simply watching from home, basketball is very enjoyed all over the world. Beginning
with a unique history, basketball has evolved over time from a simple idea into a professional career
choice for those with the unique skill set. During the winter of 1892 in a town in Massachusetts a
physical education teacher, Dr. James Naismith, at a YMCA school created a game where young men
could play indoors aside from going outside in the freezing cold. To be prepared for the game, Dr.
Naismith came up with some rules for the game, gathered two peach baskets for hoops, a soccer ball,
and coached the first basketball game in history. Dr. Naismith came up with thirteen rules. While four
out of the thirteen rules that he came up with, are no longer followed in today s version of basketball,
the nine that are left were slightly modified and are still in use today. The original thirteen rules are as
follows: The ball is thrown with both hands in any direction. The player can not run with the ball, so
they need to throw it where they caught it from. The ball is batted in any direction not with the fist but
with both hands. The ball is held in between your hands just not with the

The Role Of Evil In Man s Search For Meaning
One of the biggest problems asked of religion is tied into the existence of evil, pain and suffering. The
question of: If God is good, then why is there evil? is often asked of the major world religions,
including the two monotheistic religions Judaism and Christianity. In the book of Isaiah, verse 45:7 in
the Bible it gives us some insight to the question, stating: I make peace, and create evil: I the LORD
do all these things and in Judaism, Victor Frankl, In Man s Search for Meaning, notes that: Suffering
is an ineradicable part of life . As well as Christianity, God has made us in his image (Genesis 1:27),
allowing us to have the choice to do evil. But why would God allow or even create evil when he, the
creator has almighty power? ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
And without choice, we would be incapable of a real love relationship. God didn t want this, as the
Bible says God desires a real love relationship with his creation. Love is not real unless we have the
ability to not love. God knew that by giving us free will, there would be much evil, as choosing not to
love him is evil by definition. This idea that evil is a side effect of love is shown in the book of Isaiah,
verse 45:7, I make peace and create evil . The ability of free will serves the purpose of having the
chance to establish real love relationships between us and God, and evil will be done away after that
purpose is achieved, And the world passes away and the lust thereof: but he that does the will of God
abides forever (1 John 2:17). This gift of free will is extremely important as it gives the choice for us
to choose what we want to believe and if we choose to believe God this creates a real love relationship
between us and

Egypt was lost as a result of revolt. He was marked as a popular king, who ruled over his natural born

A Different Approach About Ikea s Success
A different approach about Ikea s success is given by Sara Kristofferson in her book Designed by Ikea,

goverment and Ikea.
Swedes love Ikea and Ikea itself shows its origins by his colors, his democratic policy and even the
food they serve inside of their stores. In one way we could assert that Ikea sells the swedishness
through its products and it does that by using narratives, that might not be always true, but they help
us to remember and associate Ikea with Sweden.
Ikea has powerful connections with Swedish government and swedish people, indeed no other

A Midwife s Tale Sparknotes
Laurel Ulrich s A Midwife s Tale
Before I watched A Midwife s Tale , a movie created from the diary found by Laurel Ulrich
chronicling the life of a woman named Martha Ballard, I thought the women in these times were just
housewives and nothing else. I pictured them doing the cleaning and the cooking for their husbands
and not being very smart because of the lack of education or them being unable to work. My view on
the subject changed however when I watched this specific woman s life and her work.

What I thought was weird is, in the movie, Martha asks the mother in labor who the father of the baby

her son?s name during that crucial moment. After a hard day like this she got to go home and clean her
house and cook food, I can just imagine how fun this was.
The incident in the movie when I found out that the minister?s wife was pregnant by one of the men
who gang raped her amazed me because I didn?t know things like that happened back then. And it was
sad because she couldn?t really do anything about it because of the fact, like I said before, the cards
stacked in the men?s favor. Also, she was not able to prove the father of the baby even though she
thought it was North, there was still no way to make sure of it. This is another thing that confirms that
the women of this time were strong people, especially all the other women who had to go through
things like she had to. Martha Ballard also had endure a lot of hard times as she got older. She couldn?

of the butcher. They try to survive against the tenants, and, in the end, the butcher dies and the

then secret weapon: Chiniquy. However, the hidden intention/objective was to regain the Catholic
church s popularity and confidence after Catholics were becoming outnumbered by the influx of Irish
famine immigrants and wanted to become more industrious and progressive (cite).
Unlike all of the previously mentioned authors, DeLottinville does not imply that Joe Beef tried his
best to alleviate problems of housing, job hunting, healthcare and labor unrest with any kind of hidden
agenda. Beef genuinely cared for the welfare of the working class of Montreal and took it upon

My talk from church 29 July 2012
July 29, 2012 at 2:19pm

Bruce R. McConkie, 3 vols. [1954 56], 2:204). For Christmas this past year, we gave each of our

containing 90 folded slips of paper with questions on them, and a blank journal. The questions were
geared to spark ideas for a family history. The journal was to write down their memories that the
questions brought up. Several years ago, our branch had a fall harvest dinner and opened our building
to members and non members alike for a family history open house. Displays were set up all over the
building. Each room had ideas, speakers, displays, games, videos, and information regarding

The identity crisis occurs when individuals are facing the dilemma of either of the culture to make some fundamental decisions. From certain angle it is more severe on second generation Asian Americans than the first generation Asian Americans. According to Justin Chan, a second generation Chinese American, she states that to build a bicultural identity is actually a balancing act for her. In order to feel more comfortable in both cultural groups, second generation Asian Americans choose to identify differently when facing different people. They need to punctuate their American side when dealing with non Asian peers and also punctuate their Asian side at home when facing their families. This kind of balancing act is widely applied to second generation Asian Americans. The Rise of Asian Americans is a relatively representative research because of its large number of sampling. The following statistics expert from the research shows how Asian Americans identify themselves. Over 3500 participants from all 50 states were involved. Based on the research, only 14% of Asian Americans label themselves as a typical American . Among them, 28% the native born Asian ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Continental Army doesn t even know whether they will survive due to these bad conditions, and most of the soldiers start to lose their hope, strength, and willingness. It all started when George Washington was granted the general of the American army by the Continental Congress in 1775. His soldiers have been struggling day and night to fight for their independence and freedom. However, Washington s troops were forced to retreat to Pennsylvania by the British army, and are now stuck in the winter camp at Valley Forge. What is the actual tax dollars that go to the in state students? Schools collage shouldn t be limited to just your state based on cost but it should be something you chose based on how good the school is. To fix this problem you could either have a universal tax that gives money to all schools in America this way schools have to give everyone who wants to go to their school pay the same cost. • 7. Final Design For The Ball Sorting Device Essay Final Design Our final design for the ball sorting device is composed of 5 primary components: Ramp, separation device, dome, base, and collection device. Separation device: The need for a separation device came to attention as interference between the balls on the ramp as well as the dome was observed. To avoid interference there needed to be space between the balls. The separation device is a hollow, circular cylinder with rods inserted horizontally (parallel to the radius and perpendicular to the height) from one side and out throughout the other, but at different angles, with vertical spacing between the rods. This would basically function like a pegboard; As the balls fall into the cylinder they will collide with the road and will fall onto either side of the rod, and continue falling until they hit another rod. Each time they hit a rod there will be a ½ probability for the balls to tilt towards either side. A total of of rods were inserted. A cardboard tube was used as the cylinder and chopsticks as the rods. The materials chosen were cheap, lightweight, and strong enough. This introduces randomness in the system as well the slowing of the balls falling so that space between the balls are created. The balls then enter the ramp. Ramp: The ramp is the source of energy for the balls. Energy here is in the form of gravity, as the start of the ramp is elevated to and it provides potential energy using the formula, where m is the mass of the individual balls provided, h as ... One of the more interesting implications that are presented in the later parts of this essay is the economic ramifications of the hip hop culture. McBride paints the picture of a lower income Caucasian American teenager in Dayton, Ohio who finds truth in the story of hip hop. McBride notes: Henry is a model American teenager and the prototypical consumer at which the hip hop industry is squarely aimed, which has his parents sitting up in their seats. The music that was once the purview of black America has gone white and gone commercial all at once. Tensions Of The Antebellum Period Essay Ethan Bagdasarian Professor Gregor History 111 November 8, 2017 The Tensions of the Antebellum Period America has fought in numerous wars, two world wars even, but the deadliest one was the war against itself. America s first and only civil war was a brutal campaign of Americans versus Americans, brothers versus brothers, and resulted in over 600,000 deaths (White). Looking past at America s history this war was seemingly inevitable. Some say the start of the civil war was when Confederate troops attacked Union soldiers at Fort Sumter. While this officially started the war, what is more important are the events causing the tension that lead up to this breaking point. One reason for the civil war was because the North and the South had strikingly different cultures, cultures that clashed against each other. The North was a more liberal, abolitionist, industrial culture while the south was a conservative agrarian based area. The second reason for the outbreak of civil war was due to the increasing political tension within the union. Southern states who feared the removal of slavery threatened to secede if the republican candidate, Abraham Lincoln. was elected. Although there were many events that contributed to the civil war, the differing cultures of the North and South, and the political tension between the North and the South, were the two main events that caused the deadliest conflict in American history. The Problem Of E Waste E Waste may be described as a broad and growing range of electronics ranging from large household devices such as refrigerators, air conditioners, cell phones, personal stereos and consumer electronics to computers, which have been discarded by their users. (Puckett and Smith, 2002). While this description is accurate, it is slightly ambiguous about the length of time before a device can actually be considered waste. Often, owners discard their electronics long before they have reached the end of their actual life cycle in order to upgrade to a newer model. In most cases the outgoing device finds its way into the used market. This may prolong the life of the product by a few years, however all electronic items eventually reach a point ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... With devices becoming increasingly affordable, the replacement time for common consumer electronics has also become shorter. Planned obsolescence is a significant contributor to the increase in purchase of consumer electronics. Many companies these days limit software updates and features to only a handful of new phones or tablets they offer, thus perpetuating the need to go out and purchase the new model. The average use time before a consumer replaces their mobile phone is only 18 months even though it s actual life cycle may be much longer than that. PCs and laptops are usually considered outdated within 3 4 years of purchase and are then replaced by their owners for newer and faster models. Studies have estimated e waste generation worldwide at 20 to 50 million tonnes per year with a steady increase of 8% to 10% annually. One of the methods to estimate the potential volume of e waste in the present and the future is by analyzing sales figures of commercial electronics. By taking into account how much we are buying, we may be able to approximate how much will be added to this waste stream a few years down the line when newly purchased devices become obsolete and are discarded. Introduction Section 4207 of the Affordable Care Act amends the FLSA (Fair Labor Standards Act) Break Time for Nursing Mothers Provisions Breastfeeding is one of the best methods for providing infants with a healthy start to life. Breast milk helps the body fight off various bacteria and viruses that one s child might be at risk for catching. Breastfed babies are thirty six percent less likely to die from sudden infant death syndrome and are fifty five percent likely to become obese later in life, compared to babies who are not breastfeed. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Target Description This law is a federal law, so I would want to reach out to the federal legislator Joe Donnelley. Defining the Problem/ Assemble the Evidence This law was intended to help new mothers, but there are still gaps in this law. Some issues come from accessibility, coverage, and support. The Affordable Care Act requires employers to provide mothers that are breastfeeding with a reasonable time and a space to express their milk. Unfortunately, only forty percent of women returned to work with these accommodations. I believe this is an issue because forty percent is an extremely small number and if this is a law, then that mean that various employers are not giving nursing mothers the accommodation that they are supposed to have. Women are also facing challenges with getting lactation support for no expense, which is supposed to be covered under their insurance. Why pass a law to help nursing mothers if there are no records of mothers having access to it? It is important for most mothers that their child is healthy and it is not fair to tell them they have access to something that employers aren t giving them. Only six states have passed laws expanding workplace breastfeeding accommodations to additional employees or extending requirements for employers. I believe that extending the requirements for employers to make sure nursing mothers are getting the time and the place is extremely important because it makes ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Inclusive education is an unabashed announcement, a public and political declaration and celebration of difference. (Corbett, J. 2001:134) The principles of inclusion and their implications on school practice have been fiercely debated by leading educational experts for many years. In 1994, delegates from 92 governments met at the world conference on special needs education, to consider policy changes that would enable educators to provide inclusive education for all. Ainscow (2007:3) argues that the biggest challenge facing the education system, is the development of practices that will reach out to learners failed by existing arrangements. It is my belief that the most effective way of tackling this matter is through this collaborative way of working. This enables practitioners to challenge and redefine entrenched views of difference that can have a negative impact on certain types of learners and find new ways of moving forward. This ethos is reflected in every day teaching and learning. Every child within the school is treated respectfully as an individual and lessons are strategically planned to accommodate all needs and aspirations. Life In Milan Kundera s The Unbearable Lightness Of Being In The Unbearable Lightness of Being , Milan Kundera informs readers that without the ability to compare our lives to others, we cannot find meaning in our lives, but remain between life s lightness and heaviness. He does this by illustrating the relationships between four characters: Tomas, Tereza, Sabina, and Franz. The novel begins in the year 1968 with Tomas, who is a brilliant surgeon from Prague and a perpetual bachelor. In a small town cafe, he fortuitously met Tereza, who was his waitress; to Tereza, the moment was magical because one of her favorite compositions by Beethoven was playing on the radio and that he enjoyed literature. Tereza evidently followed Tomas to Prague with her life packed within a suitcase and she intended to offer her life to him. The two started living with each other, but Tomas was incapable of terminating his bachelor lifestyle full of mistresses. He tried to hide his infidelity, but Tereza found a letter from one of his mistresses, Sabina. She wrote to Tomas saying, I want to make love to you in my studio. It will be like a stage surrounded by people. The audience won t be allowed up close, but they won t be able to take their eyes off us. (Pg. 16). Tomas confessed and told her that these sexual acts were separate from his love for her. This information marred Tereza s mind; she starting having horrendous nightmares and began contemplating suicide. He then married her, to relieve her of her distress. Yet he still kept his mistresses. Eventually Sabina and Tereza become close friends, but Tereza s jealousy still remained the same. Sabina, Tereza, and Tomas fled to Switzerland due to the Soviet Union inhabiting Czechoslovakia. Tereza left behind her career as a photographer, became unemployed, and had to sit home alone as Tomas continued his affairs. She then began to believe, when the strong were too weak to hurt the weak, the weak have to be strong enough to leave. (Pg. 75). Then, she returned back to Prague. Tomas was enjoying his liberation for a few days, but he gave up and left for Prague. This evidently meant that the couple gave up their freedom because there was no chance that the couple would be allowed to leave again due to the Communist regime. In ... Whether playing with friends for fun or by professionals for entertainment or simply watching from home, basketball is very enjoyed all over the world. Beginning with a unique history, basketball has evolved over time from a simple idea into a professional career choice for those with the unique skill set. During the winter of 1892 in a town in Massachusetts a physical education teacher, Dr. James Naismith, at a YMCA school created a game where young men could play indoors aside from going outside in the freezing cold. To be prepared for the game, Dr. Naismith came up with some rules for the game, gathered two peach baskets for hoops, a soccer ball, and coached the first basketball game in history. Dr. Naismith came up with thirteen rules. While four out of the thirteen rules that he came up with, are no longer followed in today s version of basketball, the nine that are left were slightly modified and are still in use today. The original thirteen rules are as follows: The ball is thrown with both hands in any direction. The player can not run with the ball, so they need to throw it where they caught it from. The question of: If God is good, then why is there evil? is often asked of the major world religions, including the two monotheistic religions Judaism and Christianity. In the book of Isaiah, verse 45:7 in the Bible it gives us some insight to the question, stating: I make peace, and create evil: I the LORD do all these things and in Judaism, Victor Frankl, In Man s Search for Meaning, notes that: Suffering is an ineradicable part of life . And without choice, we would be incapable of a real love relationship. God didn t want this, as the Bible says God desires a real love relationship with his creation. This idea that evil is a side effect of love is shown in the book of Isaiah, verse 45:7, I make peace and create evil . The ability of free will serves the purpose of having the chance to establish real love relationships between us and God, and evil will be done away after that purpose is achieved, And the world passes away and the lust thereof: but he that does the will of God abides forever (1 John 2:17).
