This document describes biosafety level one, which involves handling well-defined agents with minimal threat to people, animals, and the environment. Laboratories at this level have open bench tops, sinks, windows, and doors, and are not separated from other areas of the building. Standard practices include hand washing, limiting access while working, decontaminating work surfaces and waste, and using personal protective equipment like lab coats and gloves. Decontamination is achieved through disinfection or autoclaving, and all activities are supervised by trained personnel following standard procedures.
