4. 1.Microbial pesticide
• Composed of microorganism like
viruses,fungi,bacteria,protozoa or nematode
• applied as convenctional spray
• Include insecticide,Herbicide,fungicide
• eg:-Bt ,Agrocin
10. 4.Viral pesticide
• Virus used for pest control.
• Narrow spectrum
• Eg.Pox virus ,Tetraviruses,Polydnaviruses
11. Mechanism
1.Ingestion of occluded viruse by larvae
2.Dissolving of protein capsule in
midgut
3.Virions infect the larvae
4.Viruse replicate inside the host
5.Forming of new occluded viruses
6.Death of larvae and releasing of
occluded viruses
12. 5.Fungal pesticide
• Fungi specially associated with insects k/d
entomooathogenic fungi.
• Fungi attack the host via gut epithelium.
• Steptomycetes produce toxins.
• Most active toxins are actinomycin
A,cyclohexamide and novabiocin.
• Eg.Nomurea rileyi
14. Advantages
• Biopesticide are less toxic than conventional
pesticides.
• Target only pest and closely related sp.
• Effective in very small amount
• Cheap, renewable can be handle safely
• Difficult for insects to develop resistance to
these pesticide.
15. Disadvantage of using biopesticide
Not available easily.
Poor water solubility
Lack resistance and wide spectrum activity
Rapidly degraded by UV lights
