This paper has two broad aims: to trace the theoretical development of political marketing and then
demonstrate how these concepts can be used in the analysis of election campaigns. Electioneering is
not the sole manifestation of marketing in politics but it is the most obvious, a point underlined by

The British and American definitions are useful in that they counteract the crude and oversimplistic
belief that marketing is simply about firms giving their customers what they want. Such a cliché may
convey clarity but it obscures more complex truth. And because some in political science (not to
mention other disciplines) may have misunderstood marketing in this way, it helps explain why
relatively few in the field have sought to use it as a tool of electoral analysis.
Marketing then is a process in which the notion of consumer focus plays a major strategic role but not
to the exclusion of organisational needs. Compared with over simplistic customer centred
understandings of the subject, this theoretical interpretation fits more easily with the world of
realpolitik . In analysing the electoral market Adrian Sackman emphasises this point, arguing that:
Marketing is thus built upon a paradox; it starts with the customer, is directed at the customer, but is
fundamentally concerned with the satisfaction of the producer s own interests (Sackman 1992). Such
sentiments resemble J.K.Galbraith s stricture that marketing and advertising are activities governed

they wish to be, a calmer place with a simpler life.
I believe this because this is the mood that looking at Christina s World puts me in. The simpler life
that the artist might be wishing for might not be a literal countryside, but simply the idea of something
simple. The idea of wanting a less complicated or more relaxed way of life can be what the farm and
grassy fields are portraying. To me, someone who has always been in the busy urban areas, only
having visited suburban and country areas, this painting makes me feel something in the sense of

CONTENT BASED IMAGE COMPRESSION USING DCT AND DWT TECHNIQUE
Abstract: Discrete Wavelet Transform (DWT) and Discrete Cosine Transform (DCT) are the most
known methods used in digital image compression. Wavelet transform has better efficiency compared
to Fourier transform because it describe any type of signals both in time and frequency domain
simultaneously. In this paper, we will discuss the use of Discrete Cosine Transform (DCT) and
Discrete wavelet transformation (DWT) based Image compression Algorithmand compare the
efficiency of both methods. We do the numerical experiment by considering various types of images
and by applying DCT and DWT SPIHT to compress an image. We found that DWT yields better result
as compared to DCT.
In this paper, we will do comparison with discrete cosine transform (DCT) which is heart of JPEG
(Joint Photographic Experts Group) standard and widely used wavelet based image compression
algorithm set partitioning in hierarchical tree based on different performance measure such as Peak to

poem towards the end you find out that this poem was not only about the inevitable death that one

When I start to write a draft, I usually freewrite. I use that technique, because it was easier to me than
brainstorming or following an outline. In order for me to write, I generate ideas on a scrap paper. And

about that idea. When I try to write with an outline, I tend to get lower grades, because I do exactly as
