This document discusses trends in global resource use and population growth between 2010-2050. It proposes rethinking resource extraction and production systems to create restorative growth through sustainable and integrated approaches. The Sahara Forest Project is presented as an example that builds greenhouses, cultivates crops, and generates clean energy in desert environments using seawater, with the goals of food production, carbon storage, clean energy exports, and job creation. Initial results from the pilot in Qatar showed lower water usage and higher yields than comparable greenhouses.
