Excitement in the Airport Terminal
With clear emerald eyes illuminating with enthusiasm, the young child s face bursts with happiness,
showering down like rain as the sweet taste of excitement lingers in the air as he chases around his
siblings whilst tugging on his parents arms. They are drained from the child s constant yelling and
their heavy eyes slowly alter to a dark shade of cerulean and fill with extreme fatigueness. Their eyes
gradually begin to shut, however much they long to stay wide open. Across the parents, the two
teenagers are like robots; their shoulders are slouched as they drag their feet, one step at a time, to the
nearest seat, as they stay glued to their phones, unaware of the world around them. The innocent child
then moves his attention to the panes of glass beside him, his eyes fill with enlightenment as he gazes
at the plane outside, observing every inch of detail, in fascination. The wheels on the plane begin to
take off the concrete floor. Once the plane begins to flee, disappearing into the skies above; the boy
feels a sense of freedom come over him. Suddenly, the parents sense of hearing heightens as they hear
an announcement call from the corner of the airport, informing all passengers of their flight to board.
Grabbing the young child by the hand, the parents finally stand up ready to go. Their once excitement
for their weekend break disappears as they dread the chaos that their young will cause aboard.
A few miles ahead, there are a crowd of people, all clustered together at

The Problem Of World Hunger
Growing up, the commercials of starving children in Africa in need of food because of rampant
starvation and the pervasive threat of death have been streaming on various media. World Hunger is
one of the main problems that a large portion of the global population faces today. Hunger varies with
severity but in this case it is the want of food in a third world country. World hunger is a problem that
has existed for much of our known history; it has faded away from central concerns because it is
barely brought up in everyday conversations. World hunger has many aggravating factors and
principal causes, such as insufficient economic systems, misinformation, climate changes, etc. But the
main debilitating factor is poverty as poverty always has led to people going without regular meals
because they cannot afford to eat. There are vast quantities of people in third world nations and
developing countries that are so impoverished that are in desperate need for food. Whether a country
is rich or poor, there are always tremendous numbers of people dealing with poverty and hunger.
Perhaps most disheartening is the cruel reality that most of the victims are young children. Hunger is a
very serious issue that cannot easily be remedied.
As a matter of fact, people all over the world mainly concentrated in developing countries die because
of hunger and starvation on a daily basis. With the growth of population, the number of hungry people
also increases at a disproportionate rate.

Empathy Star Trek
Star Trek: TNG and the Cultivation of Empathy
In this paper, I argue that watching Star Trek: The Next Generation cultivates empathy. Empathy is a
good that human beings ought to develop and having a sense of empathy is one of the best things in
life. Empathy consists in the capacity to understand what another person is going through from their
perspective. The reason that a sense of empathy is one of the best things in life is that it is impossible
to have deep and meaningful relationships with others when we don t have empathy. Without empathy,
we inevitably turn inward and live a lonely life. For this reason, empathy is one of the best things in
life.
Regular watching of Star Trek: TNG increases our capacity for empathy. The reason why this is the
case is that watching acts ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Now characters in Star Trek: TNG routinely show empathetic concern for one another. For instance,
when a race of cyborgs capture Jean Luc Picard (captain of the Enterprise on the show), the crew of
the
Enterprise do everything in their power to rescue Picard. One of their main motivations for rescuing
Picard is their experience of the sense of distress that he experiences while in captivity. This is just one
instance where empathy is shown in the program, but it happens on a regular basis. In sum, watching
Star Trek: TNG increases our capacity for empathy because the characters regularly display empathy
on the show and because we tend to imitate the actions that we see other human beings performing.
Someone might object to this argument by pointing out that characters on the show also display
cruelty that involves a lack of empathy. For instance, in one episode a malevolent being kills one of
the members for the crew for no apparent reason. If we watch this cruelty, then perhaps we ourselves
might behave more cruelly. But this objection can be refuted. Cruelty on the show is always shown in

Poverty Of A Indebted Poor Countries ( Hipc ) A Project By...
INTRODUCTION
This paper looks at the Highly Indebted Poor Countries (HIPC) a project by the IMF and World Bank.
DEBT RELIEF KEY TO POVERTY REDUCTION
The World Bank and International Monetary Fund (IMF) with its view that no poor country faces a
debt burden that it cannot manage, came up with an initiative in 1996 called HIPC initiative. Since
then, the International financial community and the multilateral organizations and governments have
worked tirelessly together to reduce external debt to sustain levels for the many Highly Indebted Poor
Countries. The World Bank and its partner IMF believes that poverty reduction will come by reducing
debt levels of the country.
NEGATIVE OUTCOMES OF HIPC INITIATIVES ON ZAMBIA
The World Bank and the IMF, almost always put conditions to members states to access financial
assistance. HIPC countries like Zambia were not an exceptional.
Four conditions were put in place for HIPC to meet, this includes:
1. be eligible to borrow from the World Bank s International Development Agency.
2. Face an unsustainable debt burden, that cannot be sustain through traditional mechanism debt relief.
3. Have established a track record of reforms and sound policies.
4. Develop a Poverty Reduction Strategic Paper
The technicalities behind the above conditions came at a price, which to date, a little of progress has
been seen. Civic leaders under the leadership of President Levy Mwanawasa of the Republic of
Zambia, were on each other s tails.

Imagine a world without the United States government system, with no Senate, no checks and
balances, and no Constitution. Imagine a world without sports stadiums. Imagine a world without the
Romance Languages. Without the Ancient Romans, this would be the case. Ancient Rome was an
extremely powerful and successful civilization. They have given the world many aspects of culture
and government. Our culture, specifically sports stadiums and languages, have been influenced by the
Ancient Romans. Many modern forms of government are influenced by the Romans. Ancient Rome
continues to influence our world today through their contributions of culture and government.

Clearly, the culture of Rome is still seen in the world today through language and art. Countries
throughout the world are still speaking Latin influenced languages. Also, some English words have
Latin roots, proving the Latin language is still present in the world today. In addition, Roman art
greatly influenced the Renaissance, which is a very important time for art. Without Roman influence
during the Renaissance, museums today would not be filled with the art it is today. Also, languages
spoken across Europe would be completely different. Rome s cultural influence is also present in
modern day sports arenas. The Colosseum is an extremely important and famous building that was
built in Ancient Rome. Many buildings, specifically sports stadiums, have been influenced by the
Colosseum. According to Dunn, Other modern colosseums include the concrete Kingdome in Seattle,
Washington; the steel Superdome in New Orleans, Louisiana; and the Silverdome in Pontiac,
Michigan. The Silverdome even has a roof made of fabric, as did the ancient stadium (2). Thanks to
the ancient Roman s, people today can experience football games, concerts and other fun events in

How Did King s Ability To Help The Poor
As people continued to gather in the name of equality, there were still areas that just seemed as if the
gray area just kept getting darker and darker. Dr. King spoke out for all the poor in all their hues, for
he knew if color made them different, misery and oppression made them the same (King.M King. C).
But how must one help the poor, who is entitle to receive that help and who are the ones to give that
help. The poor can stop being poor if the rich are willing to become even richer at a slower rate (King.
M King. C). In picking apart this statement, I believe Dr. King wanted the people of America who had
the ability to help people in need, to do just that. I do not believe he was just speaking on money but

Do Hair Colors Have Different Effects On Static Electricity
Designing your own experiment
1. Make an observation: When a balloon is rubbed on someone s head the hair on the person s head
will stand up, and if the balloon is later placed on a wall it will remain there for a certain amount of
time.
2. Ask a question: Do different hair colors have different effects on static electricity?
3. Prediction: The color of hair will have different effects on static electricity, one color of hair will
produce the highest amount of static electricity.
4. Hypothesis: If you have black hair then there will be a higher effect on static electricity then there
would be on blonde, red, or brown hair.

b. Once you have filled up each balloon make sure to tie each one with a secure knot at the end.
c. Now take a permanent marker and carefully take 1 of the 4 balloons and write black on it, take a
second balloon and write blonde, then a third and write red on it and on the last balloon write brown.
(You will only be doing 1 trail for each color of hair).
d. In your notebook, create a table with 2 columns and 5 rows the left column will be used for the 4
different colors of hair
(Black, blonde, red, brown) and the second column will be labeled as time. This will be where you
will write how long each balloon stuck to wall for each hair color.
e. Take one of the balloons marked black and on your black haired volunteer rub the balloon on
his/her head 30 seconds (make sure to use a timer).
f. Once you have finished rubbing the balloon for the designated time on your volunteer s head the
hair will be standing up. You will then take the balloon and stick it to a clear wall space. Now take
your timer and time how long the balloon stays on the wall, once the balloon begins to fall off the wall

Competency Mapping
Introduction :
A lot is going on in recent times on the issue of competency mapping. A lot of resource is spent and
consultants are invited to do competency mapping. Competency mapping is gaining much more
importance and organizations are aware of having good human resources or putting the right people
on right job.
Competency mapping is important and is an essential exercise. Every well managed firm should have
well defined roles and list of competencies required to perform each role effectively. Such list should
be used for recruitment, performance management, promotions, placements and training needs
identification.
In performing or carrying out work, it is essential that the required job skills first be articulated. This

Organizations describe, or map, competencies using one or more of the following four strategies:
1. Organization Wide (often called core competencies or those required for organization success)
2.Job Family or Business Unit Competency Sets
3.Position SpecificCompetencySets
4. Competency Sets Defined Relative to the Level of Employee Contribution (i.e. Individual
Contributor, Manager, or Organizational Leader)
This article will not go into depth about the differences among the four mapping strategies. Instead,
the focus here will be on ways that individuals need to present or demonstrate the use of the various
kinds of competencies when interacting with organizations.
Research is ongoing about the nature of competencies that are important for success across many
organizations. There are a number of sources that describe some very common personal functioning
competencies found to be important for employees at all levels across organizations. One good quote
in this area is from Michael Zwell (2000, pgs. 53 55), the author of Creating A Culture of Competence
when he says, From the body of competency research to date, a basic set of 6 competencies would
differentiate the top quartile of performers from the rest in most positions in an organization:
Initiative, Influence, Results Orientation, Teamwork, Service Orientation, and, Concern for Quality.
In addition, research on the importance of emotional intelligence to organization success is starting to

Comparing Cinema And Psychoanalysis
Both Cinema and Psychoanalysis were born at the end of the 19th century. They share a common
historical background shaped by the changes that modernity imposed over the Western societies.
Perhaps, this is one of the reasons why psychoanalysis influenced cinema so much. At the time the
brothers Lumière were screening the first results of the cinematograph , Freud and Joseph Breuer had
recently published their studies on Hysteria (The Guardian, 2001). In this essay I will analyse how my
way of understanding and reading films has changed because of the acknowledgement of Freud s
psychoanalytic theories and their influence on film. (Hill, Gibson, 1998)

Before then, psychologists like Wundt and Skinner had concentrated in the introspective analysis of
the normal human mind. There were aiming to unmask the conscience, showing it like a puppet at the
mercy of primitive impulses. They studied human actions and reactions to these impulses, but not the
mental processes surrounding them. Mental illnesses were considered organic ; it was thought that
they were produced by some kind of deterioration or disease of the brain (LLC, 2016) . The research
done around mental illness tried to discover what changes of the brain would lead to insanity. Many
diseases did not show any physical mental damage but it was assumed that the techniques were not yet
sufficient. The psychological causes were ignored. Freud changed this perspective forever (Silverman,
1985).
Freud was reluctant to the fusion of psychoanalysis and film. He rejected several offers from major
studios to write scripts and he disliked being filmed or photograph (The Guardian, 2001). This did not
stop his theories from leaving a mark in film. His explanation of the human mind presented cinema
with a full range of ideas to develop and expand

What Is The 5th Wave Essay
The 5th wave by Rick Yancey opens after aliens have invaded and attacked earth. First, an
electromagnetic pulse cut of all electricity; then, massive tsunamis wiped out three million people;
next a deadly virus killed 97% of the remaining survivors; then the aliens infiltrated the earth, and the
few remaining humans can t trust anyone.
I haven t read many sci fi books, so while going into it, I didn t know what to expect. Books about
alien invasions aren t usually my cup of tea, but I m pleased to say that I enjoyed the book very much.
Yancey manages to describe an invasion by aliens that makes you think that this is how it might
actually happen. Some people head off to Disney World while others hunker down in bunkers.

What Is The Reflection Of A Oliver Library
A library is said to be the heart and soul of a college, also a refuge and a place of discovery, says
author Alan Gibbons. The quality of education given in college can be roughly judged from the type
of books in its library and its use by students(Gibbons). Since the renovation of the J.C. Oliver
Library, I hadn t been there. So, I decided to complete my filed observation there. I think the library is
a more appropriate for this exercise since taking notes would be unusual. For the first five minutes, I
looked around the whole environment in general to get a feel. I spot an empty table between the entry
and the reference desk. From here I could observe who is coming in and where they go first: the
reference desk or the periodical stand, or the computer station. While I was walking, I was spotted by
the librarian who reminded me M. Kamgue, your students print a lot, you need to stop sending them

I just notice a young man who is sitting there without books or writing utensils, when a young female

toward the current periodicals, third column over, second shelf down, middle magazine. Picks it up,
looks at it, and returns it to the shelf. He then goes to the first column, fifth shelf down, right
magazine. She picks up the magazine and walks past my table going

Explore How the Theme of Isolation Is Used in of Jane Eyre...
I will be exploring how the theme of isolation is used throughout the novel Jane Eyre written by
Charlotte Bronte, with particular focus on the opening chapters.
When Charlotte Bronte wrote Jane Eyre in 1847, it became an immediate bestseller. It contained
themes of which were previously rarely brought to light and of which many believed to be
controversial, such as women s place in the Victorian society, of which Bronte lived in.
Jane Eyre was written in first person narrative. This technique immediately allows the reader to relate
to and connect with the main character s emotions and experiences, and her isolation.
In this book, the author, Charlotte Bronte, has chosen to take an almost autobiographical approach to
the plot. At ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In reading her volume, Jane takes particular notice of certain aspects of the book, such as: the solitary
rocks and promontories and the bleak shores . This could be yet another subtle reflection of her life,
and the direct reference to solitariness shows her introverted lifestyle and personality. Charlotte Bronte
then goes onto describe how the clear panes of glass, were protecting, but not separating me [Jane]
from the drear November day . This could be interpreted as meaning that although Jane is protected
from the realities of life outside Gateshead, as she is always isolated inside the house and its grounds,
she is not really separated from the harsh realities of life itself, as she believes she is suffering a much
more cruel life locked inside.
The use of sympathetic background, in the description of the drear November day the other side of the
window directly reflects the disposition of her own life, and therefore endorses the previous
statements. Afar, it offered a pale blank of mist and cloud; near a scene of wet lawn and storm beat
shrub, with ceaseless rain sweeping away wildly before a long and lamenting blast.
This description on page 2 of Jane s view from her window describes that of lawns, shrubs and clouds,
of which are usually thought of as generally pleasant, but Bronte has carefully chosen adjectives to
convert them

ESCI 118 Physical Geography Citrus College Chapter 17 Solution Processes and Karst Topography 1.
How does carbonic acid form? It forms when water and carbon dioxide combine and react. 2. What is
meant by dissolution? Dissolution is the action of being dissolved. 3. What kinds of rock are most
susceptible to solution processes? Why? Limestone and dolomite are most susceptible to solution
processes because the water, which is slightly acidic, reacts with rock and dissolves the co2 gas
carrying away or dissolving some of the sediment. 4. How does the underground structure of the

In an arid land, there is less precipitation than the potential evaporation which is not the case in humid
regions. 2. What is meant by an impermeable surface and how does such a surface influence the
results of rainfall in a desert? An impermeable surface cannot be penetrated by any element. Such a
surface will not allow rain to percolate into the desert soil leaving no plants with root systems able to
survive unless specifically adapted to the climate. 3. What is a basin of interior drainage? The land is
uplifted crust blocks that form parallel ranges but surface water doesn t run to the ocean. Instead, it
evaporates over time leaving a salt flat. 4. What is the difference between an ephemeral stream and an
exotic stream in a desert? An ephemeral stream is a stream that only exists during rainfall. Exotic
streams come from an origin outside of the desert. 5. Although there is very little rainfall in deserts,
running water is still the most important process of erosion and deposition in arid environments.
Describe and explain at least two special conditions in deserts that tend to increase the likelihood of
fluvial erosion whenever it does rain. Any rainfall increases fluvial erosion. When rain does fall, this
creates ephemeral streams causing water erosion due to fast forces of water. Flash floods are possible
as well creating even more erosion. 6.

Memory Retention Research Paper
Research: Memory retention is essential to all human beings. It is a fundamental function of our brain:
whether it be memorizing people s names, memorizing math formulas, or memorizing the location of
the car keys. We all recognize the importance of memorization and we all seek ways to improve our
memory retention skills. Many different parts of the brain control a person s memory, but the most
important part is the frontal lobe. It controls working and short term memory. Due to the processes of
stimulus of the sensory memory which transmits to the frontal lobe, people can, on average, recall 7
items after looking at them for 15 seconds. Neuroscience journal In the frontal lobe, encoding, storage,

The beneficial activity of walking also causes an improvement of creativity according to Dr. Oppezzo
of Stanford University. Dr. Oppezzo created a matched pair experimental design using undergraduate
student volunteers as subjects that tests the variable of walking versus sitting and inside walking
versus outside walking. he conducted 3 experiments in which she compared tests of GAU (creative
divergent thinking) and CRA (convergent thinking) using the variables of walking on a treadmill,
sitting, walking then sitting, sitting then walking, sitting twice, and outdoors walking. For her last test
she compared tests of creative analogy generation with the variables of sitting inside, walking on a
treadmill inside, walking outside, and rolling on a wheelchair outside. In all of her findings, she saw
an increase in creativity following or during the physical activity of walking. The increase in creativity
she found was also independent of location of the test, meaning that being outdoors did not help or
hinder memory retention skills when compared to results from indoors. This suggests that some
physical aspect of walking stimulates the brain s memory system. But, more research needs to be
conducted to understand the biological cause of this effect, which Dr. Oppezzo calls acute. She is
unable to provide any scientifically based answers to the results of her experiment because it is still
unclear

Proprietorship, Biability Company, Limited Liability...
There are several categories under which business entities can be formed. Sole Proprietorship,
Partnership (General or Limited), Limited Liability Companies (LLC) and S or C Corporations are the
options entrepreneurs have to give legal form to their business. Each has distinctive characteristics on
their tax treatment and legal procedures. The decision of what kind of entity form affects the daily
operations and investment opportunities for the business, hence the importance of selecting the entity
that can better serve the business model and the owners.
Sole Proprietorship is the most basic and simple form of business and it does not require to be
formally organized with the state. Under this kind of entity, the owner directly assumes the ... Show

Limited Liability Companies are treated by default as a Partnership (flow through) for tax purposes,
however, because of the check the box regulation Section 7701, LLC owners can elect to have their
entity treated as a C Corporation for tax purposes and then opt for the S corporation tax treatment
which would allow them to be taxed as a flow through. Corporation are treated by default as C
corporations and are taxed based on corporations tax rates, the check the box regulation allows the
business owners to opt for the S corporation option and pay taxes as a flow through corporation.
Based on the presented information about the different forms of organization, in my opinion a Limited
Liability Company is the best option for the presented case, considering the initial stages of the
business, the characteristics of the owners and the extent of the operations. The Limited Liability
Company will allow them flexibility on their arrangements under the flexible statute which allows the
members to alter those dissolution and transferability provisions by agreement . This form of
organization also limits the liability of the owners, since the company is considered a separate legal
entity, creditors won t have claims to their personal assets if the business default on payment. Another
important advantage of selecting this form of organization is that the owners have taxation flexibility,

Elements Of Poetry In Ask MeBy Arakida Moritage
1. In Ask me by William Stafford (376), the element of poetry that stands out most for me is didactic
poetry. William starts with Some time when the river is ice ask me mistakes I have made. grabbing
reader s attention towards the issue he is discussing in his poem. Some people stood with him during
difficult times, some didn t ask me what difference their strongest love or hate has made. But, that
doesn t make any difference. We know the current is there, hidden; and there are comings and goings
from miles away that hold the stillness exactly before us. everyone has the potential to solve their
problems. Stafford is addressing that people solve their own problems. This makes them strong. 2. In
The falling flower by Arakida Moritake (438), the element that stands out most for in the poem is
imagery. The poem sparks the person with its set of unusual images. The poet triggers the image of a
flower falling from the tree The falling flower . And that flower flies back to the tree in the form of a
butterfly. I saw drift back to the branch Was a butterfly . Arakida is discussing the birth of a butterfly
by his vivid imagery. 3. In The Wayfarer by Stephen Crane (381), the element that stands out most for
me is tone. The tone of the poet towards this poem is judgemental. The vagabond who is choosing the
path is surprised to see the heavily grown path It was thickly grown with weeds. . It occurs to him that

The Importance Of Gun Safety Issues
The first article is about how, in 2016, Virginia s Democratic governor and Virginian Republicans
compromised on gun safety. This issue impacts Virginia as it allows citizens from states with less strict
concealed gun carry laws to carry their guns in Virginia, which potentially could cause safety issues.
Nonetheless, it also allows state police to conduct background checks in gun shows and restricts
people who have committed domestic abuse from buying weapons, which, in total, makes the state
safer. The parties involved in this compromise are Virginia Governor Terry McAuliffe and Speaker
William J. Howell, however, in the article, House Leader David Toscano and the Coalition to Stop
Gun Violence also comment on the compromise. An important

The Effects Of Malaria On African Continent And Is...
Malaria is a life threatening disease that is caused by plasmodium parasites transmitted from female
mosquitos when they bite a human. The plasmodium parasite can also be transmitted by blood
products like unclean needles or unscreened blood. There are five parasite species (Plasmodium,
falciparum, P. vivax, P. ovale, and P. malariae) that cause malaria in humans, and two of these species,
P. falciparum and P. vivax, are the greatest threat (see Figure 1). The severity of malaria is based on
the species of plasmodium. The symptoms people experience include chills, fever, and sweating
usually occurring within a few weeks after being bitten. In the United States, it is a very rare disease
with fewer than 20,000 cases per year, and is treatable by a medical professional. However, Sub
Saharan Africa is home to 88% of malaria cases and 90% of malaria deaths. P. falciparum is the most
prevalent parasite on the African continent and is responsible for most malaria related deaths globally.
P. vivax is more widely distributed than P. falciparum and predominates in most countries outside of
Africa. In the 1970s and 1980s, resistance of P. falciparum started in medicines, such as chloroquine
and sulfadoxine pyrimethamine (SP). Drug resistance has been implicated in the spread of malaria to
new areas and re emergence of malaria in areas where the disease had been eradicated. Population
movement has introduced resistant parasites to areas previously free of drug resistance. Resistance is

The first competency that I was able to complete easily and successfully is number one, demonstrating
ethical and professional behavior. Within this competency, I was to make good ethical decisions, use
reflection and self regulation, demonstrate professional demeanor within communication, use
technology ethically and appropriately and finally use supervision and consultation to guide
professional judgment and behavior. This competency was important because it grounded the NASW,
ethics, and professionalism into my field placement and ensured that I was following these important
aspects of the social work field. For competency 1.1 I never spoke of clients in a way where their

Summary Of The 6 Bases Of Power Dunigan
My interpretation of the 6 bases of power from Jack Dunigan are as follow,
Official power Is an office or position and it gives the person the authority to exercise power
Transactional power is a person who has a high position in the chain of command or is looked upon as
someone with authority. Coercive power is having the ability to penalize or punish others if what was
asked of them was not completed or abided. Knowledge power Is the having the capability of
understanding that there is a goal or tasked that needs to be accomplished or completed and the person
is also able to find a solution to a problem and ultimately knowing what the problem is and what needs
to get done to fix it. Charismatic power Is being well known and having a positive reputation follow
your journey giving the perception that you know what you are doing one might be consider it being
held up on a pedestal. Principle centered power Is the ability to inspire and motivate others and
encourage another to act on a decision or idea. (Dunigan, 2013).

that time I highly disliked; I have learned to like it with time now. And then for Michael Jackson, he

Animal Farm Propaganda
Animal Farm: Timeless Propaganda
Upon Animal Farm s first publication in 1945, it quickly became a success and is now regarded as one
of the best allegories of Soviet totalitarianism ever written. All of its characters provided a
representation of Soviet Russia s political figures, with its main character, Napoleon, illustrating
Joseph Stalin and a corrupt totalitarian rule. The book parodies Stalin s rise to power and his eventual
total control of nearly every aspect of personal and private behavior. Animal Farm s message does not
strictly coincide to the events of the 1930 s, however. In Animal Farm, three specific tactics of
propaganda arise which are visible today. These propaganda devices are fear, deceit, and isolationism.

Shortly after their birth, Napoleon took the young puppies from the farm dogs in order to raise them
personally. He completely isolated them from the rest of the animals in order to mold them into his
own instruments of political oppression. Ahmadinejad does the same through strict isolation via
information control. Any newspapers which post information deemed unfit for the Iranian public are
quickly suspended. The journalists who wrote these articles are often arrested and imprisoned. Iran
also has placed several restrictions on high speed internet in an effort to filter out Western influence.
Iranian connection speeds were reduced to 128KB per second, making it impossible to receive fast
broadband packages. This makes it impossible to receive any western movies, music, or television.
They claim it as an attempt to protect Iranian youth, but quite plainly, it s nothing more than a way of
restricting any outside ideas and further strengthening their own. Animal Farm is a good example of
how timeless certain techniques of propaganda can be. Even after almost 70 years, Animal Farm s
message of propaganda based totalitarianism still carry on. Current Iranian leader Mahmoud
Ahmadinejad closely parallels Stalin s methods of propaganda. Both have methods rooted in three
main devices: fear, deceit, and isolationism. Through these devices, Ahmadinejad is able to mold
Iranian ideas to fit his own. He sways public opinion and shows how

Cold Blood By Truman Capote, A Cold Blooded Killer
Without the basic necessities such as water and sunlight, a flower will not bloom into a beautiful,
colorful creation, but rather wilt into a brown, unrecognizable mess. Just like a flower needs water and
sunlight to thrive, a child requires support from a guardian to prosper in every aspect. A secure support
system t in a child s life creates healthy relationships as well as providing the child with a positive
perspective and mindset. However in the lives of Perry Smith, a cold blooded killer in the novel In
Cold Blood by Truman Capote, child soldiers, and the children of the street, support from the family is
seldom displayed. The absence of support leads these persons to lives filled with hostility and
violence; lives of adversity. This goes to show, the absence of support from a parent figure or family
unit has negative impacts on a child s lifestyle.
Throughout numerous areas around the globe, the reality of children living on the street has become a
significant issue. This problem is mainly due to the family s inability to provide adequate care and
resources for their child, Children end up on the streets for a number of reasons, many of which are
rooted in family instability and poverty, (The Children of the Street). Instead of worrying about what
games to play or who to play with, these adolescents have to worry about what they will eat for the
day or where they will sleep for the night. Children who have ended up on the streets are forced to

The Effect Of Leadership And Teachers On Students Achievement
Abstract
Each school in Australia strives to create an environment in which all students have equal access to
quality education which can enable them to become successful contributors to society. This paper aims
to examine the research on the effect of leadership and teachers on student achievement. It will
examine the research on leadership styles and the effects that leadership has on teachers and student
achievement.
Introduction
Australia, like most developed nations, has seen dramatic educational reforms over the past 60 years,
with the desire to improve student achievement and create a productive workforce and economy. Our
education system must allow each individual to reach their potential regardless of their economic
means and enable them to live a life of meaning and purpose (Teaching Talent). The shift in
educational practice has been a result of a greater understanding of what actually impacts students
achievement. The 1960 s to present day has seen a significant shift in the idea that student
achievement is solely dependent on the social background of the student to the current view that
schools via teachers and leadership can have a significant effect on student achievement. The teacher
has the greatest impact on student learning but a teacher does not exist in isolation. The principal plays
a significant role in providing high impact policies and practices which support teachers and therefore
indirectly has an impact on student achievement.

Leonardo Da Vinci A Renaissance Man
William Byrd and Leonardo Da Vinci and the composer and artist duo that I have chosen from the
Renaissance era or music and art. As Leonardo Da Vinci was born on April 15, 1452 in a city called
Vinci, Republic of Florence which today is not modern day Italy and died on May 2, 1519 at the age
of 67 in the city of Amboise, Kingdom of France. Da Vinci was more known as an artist and scientist,
but was also an inventor, architect, musician, mathmation, engineer, astronomy, writer, historian, and

good at everything he did. Da Vinci s most notable works of art were the Mona Lisa, The Last Supper,

Da Vinci s artwork of The Last Supper is as a piece of art that captures the moment of Christ just after
he tells his disciples that one of them will betray him is a very influential moment of the bible and is
beautifully depicted in this art work. I believe this work of art is a stand alone piece of art that is great
in that it shows Christ in the moment having his hands spread apart showing that they are pointed at a
piece of bread and a glass of wine. Which in turn represents the body of Christ in the bread and the
blood of Christ in the wine, which is the sacrament. What is also interesting about the painting is that
Jesus s hand that is reaching for the wine is also near a dish on the table which Judas is reaching for
symbolizing that fact that Judas is the one who betrays Jesus and has a bag of silver in his other hand
in the painting. As for William Byrd, I believe his music is beautiful in the fact that it is very calming
and easy listening, which makes me just want to listen to more of it. His style of music reminds me of
the Gothic era of music in a way because of the deep echo voices in the background, but it has more to
it as the other singers bring a more full sound to the piece of music and make the texture a nice soft
but abrasive type of listening that has emotion in its sound. I enthusiastically enjoyed

  • 2. Excitement in the Airport Terminal With clear emerald eyes illuminating with enthusiasm, the young child s face bursts with happiness, showering down like rain as the sweet taste of excitement lingers in the air as he chases around his siblings whilst tugging on his parents arms. They are drained from the child s constant yelling and their heavy eyes slowly alter to a dark shade of cerulean and fill with extreme fatigueness. Their eyes gradually begin to shut, however much they long to stay wide open. Across the parents, the two teenagers are like robots; their shoulders are slouched as they drag their feet, one step at a time, to the nearest seat, as they stay glued to their phones, unaware of the world around them. The innocent child then moves his attention to the panes of glass beside him, his eyes fill with enlightenment as he gazes at the plane outside, observing every inch of detail, in fascination. The wheels on the plane begin to take off the concrete floor. Once the plane begins to flee, disappearing into the skies above; the boy feels a sense of freedom come over him. Suddenly, the parents sense of hearing heightens as they hear an announcement call from the corner of the airport, informing all passengers of their flight to board. Grabbing the young child by the hand, the parents finally stand up ready to go. Their once excitement for their weekend break disappears as they dread the chaos that their young will cause aboard. A few miles ahead, there are a crowd of people, all clustered together at ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Problem Of World Hunger Growing up, the commercials of starving children in Africa in need of food because of rampant starvation and the pervasive threat of death have been streaming on various media. World Hunger is one of the main problems that a large portion of the global population faces today. Hunger varies with severity but in this case it is the want of food in a third world country. World hunger is a problem that has existed for much of our known history; it has faded away from central concerns because it is barely brought up in everyday conversations. World hunger has many aggravating factors and principal causes, such as insufficient economic systems, misinformation, climate changes, etc. But the main debilitating factor is poverty as poverty always has led to people going without regular meals because they cannot afford to eat. There are vast quantities of people in third world nations and developing countries that are so impoverished that are in desperate need for food. Whether a country is rich or poor, there are always tremendous numbers of people dealing with poverty and hunger. Perhaps most disheartening is the cruel reality that most of the victims are young children. Hunger is a very serious issue that cannot easily be remedied. As a matter of fact, people all over the world mainly concentrated in developing countries die because of hunger and starvation on a daily basis. With the growth of population, the number of hungry people also increases at a disproportionate rate. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Empathy Star Trek Star Trek: TNG and the Cultivation of Empathy In this paper, I argue that watching Star Trek: The Next Generation cultivates empathy. Empathy is a good that human beings ought to develop and having a sense of empathy is one of the best things in life. Empathy consists in the capacity to understand what another person is going through from their perspective. The reason that a sense of empathy is one of the best things in life is that it is impossible to have deep and meaningful relationships with others when we don t have empathy. Without empathy, we inevitably turn inward and live a lonely life. For this reason, empathy is one of the best things in life. Regular watching of Star Trek: TNG increases our capacity for empathy. The reason why this is the case is that watching acts ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Now characters in Star Trek: TNG routinely show empathetic concern for one another. For instance, when a race of cyborgs capture Jean Luc Picard (captain of the Enterprise on the show), the crew of the Enterprise do everything in their power to rescue Picard. One of their main motivations for rescuing Picard is their experience of the sense of distress that he experiences while in captivity. This is just one instance where empathy is shown in the program, but it happens on a regular basis. In sum, watching Star Trek: TNG increases our capacity for empathy because the characters regularly display empathy on the show and because we tend to imitate the actions that we see other human beings performing. Someone might object to this argument by pointing out that characters on the show also display cruelty that involves a lack of empathy. For instance, in one episode a malevolent being kills one of the members for the crew for no apparent reason. If we watch this cruelty, then perhaps we ourselves might behave more cruelly. But this objection can be refuted. Cruelty on the show is always shown in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Poverty Of A Indebted Poor Countries ( Hipc ) A Project By... INTRODUCTION This paper looks at the Highly Indebted Poor Countries (HIPC) a project by the IMF and World Bank. DEBT RELIEF KEY TO POVERTY REDUCTION The World Bank and International Monetary Fund (IMF) with its view that no poor country faces a debt burden that it cannot manage, came up with an initiative in 1996 called HIPC initiative. Since then, the International financial community and the multilateral organizations and governments have worked tirelessly together to reduce external debt to sustain levels for the many Highly Indebted Poor Countries. The World Bank and its partner IMF believes that poverty reduction will come by reducing debt levels of the country. NEGATIVE OUTCOMES OF HIPC INITIATIVES ON ZAMBIA The World Bank and the IMF, almost always put conditions to members states to access financial assistance. HIPC countries like Zambia were not an exceptional. Four conditions were put in place for HIPC to meet, this includes: 1. be eligible to borrow from the World Bank s International Development Agency. 2. Face an unsustainable debt burden, that cannot be sustain through traditional mechanism debt relief. 3. Have established a track record of reforms and sound policies. 4. Develop a Poverty Reduction Strategic Paper The technicalities behind the above conditions came at a price, which to date, a little of progress has been seen. Imagine a world without sports stadiums. Imagine a world without the Romance Languages. Without the Ancient Romans, this would be the case. Ancient Rome was an extremely powerful and successful civilization. They have given the world many aspects of culture and government. Our culture, specifically sports stadiums and languages, have been influenced by the Ancient Romans. Many modern forms of government are influenced by the Romans. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Clearly, the culture of Rome is still seen in the world today through language and art. Countries throughout the world are still speaking Latin influenced languages. Also, some English words have Latin roots, proving the Latin language is still present in the world today. In addition, Roman art greatly influenced the Renaissance, which is a very important time for art. Without Roman influence during the Renaissance, museums today would not be filled with the art it is today. Also, languages spoken across Europe would be completely different. Rome s cultural influence is also present in modern day sports arenas. The Colosseum is an extremely important and famous building that was built in Ancient Rome. Many buildings, specifically sports stadiums, have been influenced by the Colosseum. According to Dunn, Other modern colosseums include the concrete Kingdome in Seattle, Washington; the steel Superdome in New Orleans, Louisiana; and the Silverdome in Pontiac, Michigan. • 7. How Did King s Ability To Help The Poor As people continued to gather in the name of equality, there were still areas that just seemed as if the gray area just kept getting darker and darker. Dr. King spoke out for all the poor in all their hues, for he knew if color made them different, misery and oppression made them the same (King.M King. C). But how must one help the poor, who is entitle to receive that help and who are the ones to give that help. The poor can stop being poor if the rich are willing to become even richer at a slower rate (King. M King. C). In picking apart this statement, I believe Dr. King wanted the people of America who had the ability to help people in need, to do just that. Competency mapping is gaining much more importance and organizations are aware of having good human resources or putting the right people on right job. Competency mapping is important and is an essential exercise. Every well managed firm should have well defined roles and list of competencies required to perform each role effectively. There are a number of sources that describe some very common personal functioning competencies found to be important for employees at all levels across organizations. • 10. Comparing Cinema And Psychoanalysis Both Cinema and Psychoanalysis were born at the end of the 19th century. They share a common historical background shaped by the changes that modernity imposed over the Western societies. Perhaps, this is one of the reasons why psychoanalysis influenced cinema so much. At the time the brothers Lumière were screening the first results of the cinematograph , Freud and Joseph Breuer had recently published their studies on Hysteria (The Guardian, 2001). In this essay I will analyse how my way of understanding and reading films has changed because of the acknowledgement of Freud s psychoanalytic theories and their influence on film. Before then, psychologists like Wundt and Skinner had concentrated in the introspective analysis of the normal human mind. There were aiming to unmask the conscience, showing it like a puppet at the mercy of primitive impulses. They studied human actions and reactions to these impulses, but not the mental processes surrounding them. Mental illnesses were considered organic ; it was thought that they were produced by some kind of deterioration or disease of the brain (LLC, 2016) . The research done around mental illness tried to discover what changes of the brain would lead to insanity. Many diseases did not show any physical mental damage but it was assumed that the techniques were not yet sufficient. The psychological causes were ignored. Freud changed this perspective forever (Silverman, 1985). Freud was reluctant to the fusion of psychoanalysis and film. He rejected several offers from major studios to write scripts and he disliked being filmed or photograph (The Guardian, 2001). This did not stop his theories from leaving a mark in film. • 14. What Is The Reflection Of A Oliver Library A library is said to be the heart and soul of a college, also a refuge and a place of discovery, says author Alan Gibbons. The quality of education given in college can be roughly judged from the type of books in its library and its use by students(Gibbons). Since the renovation of the J.C. Oliver Library, I hadn t been there. So, I decided to complete my filed observation there. I think the library is a more appropriate for this exercise since taking notes would be unusual. For the first five minutes, I looked around the whole environment in general to get a feel. I spot an empty table between the entry and the reference desk. From here I could observe who is coming in and where they go first: the reference desk or the periodical stand, or the computer station. While I was walking, I was spotted by the librarian who reminded me M. I will be exploring how the theme of isolation is used throughout the novel Jane Eyre written by Charlotte Bronte, with particular focus on the opening chapters. When Charlotte Bronte wrote Jane Eyre in 1847, it became an immediate bestseller. It contained themes of which were previously rarely brought to light and of which many believed to be controversial, such as women s place in the Victorian society, of which Bronte lived in. In reading her volume, Jane takes particular notice of certain aspects of the book, such as: the solitary rocks and promontories and the bleak shores . This could be yet another subtle reflection of her life, and the direct reference to solitariness shows her introverted lifestyle and personality. Charlotte Bronte then goes onto describe how the clear panes of glass, were protecting, but not separating me [Jane] from the drear November day . This could be interpreted as meaning that although Jane is protected from the realities of life outside Gateshead, as she is always isolated inside the house and its grounds, she is not really separated from the harsh realities of life itself, as she believes she is suffering a much more cruel life locked inside. The use of sympathetic background, in the description of the drear November day the other side of the window directly reflects the disposition of her own life, and therefore endorses the previous statements. In all of her findings, she saw an increase in creativity following or during the physical activity of walking. The increase in creativity she found was also independent of location of the test, meaning that being outdoors did not help or hinder memory retention skills when compared to results from indoors. This suggests that some physical aspect of walking stimulates the brain s memory system. There are five parasite species (Plasmodium, falciparum, P. vivax, P. ovale, and P. malariae) that cause malaria in humans, and two of these species, P. falciparum and P. vivax, are the greatest threat (see Figure 1). The severity of malaria is based on the species of plasmodium. The symptoms people experience include chills, fever, and sweating usually occurring within a few weeks after being bitten. In the United States, it is a very rare disease with fewer than 20,000 cases per year, and is treatable by a medical professional. However, Sub Saharan Africa is home to 88% of malaria cases and 90% of malaria deaths. P. falciparum is the most prevalent parasite on the African continent and is responsible for most malaria related deaths globally. P. vivax is more widely distributed than P. falciparum and predominates in most countries outside of Africa. In the 1970s and 1980s, resistance of P. falciparum started in medicines, such as chloroquine and sulfadoxine pyrimethamine (SP). Introduction Australia, like most developed nations, has seen dramatic educational reforms over the past 60 years, with the desire to improve student achievement and create a productive workforce and economy. Our education system must allow each individual to reach their potential regardless of their economic means and enable them to live a life of meaning and purpose (Teaching Talent). • 36. Leonardo Da Vinci A Renaissance Man William Byrd and Leonardo Da Vinci and the composer and artist duo that I have chosen from the Renaissance era or music and art. As Leonardo Da Vinci was born on April 15, 1452 in a city called Vinci, Republic of Florence which today is not modern day Italy and died on May 2, 1519 at the age of 67 in the city of Amboise, Kingdom of France. Da Vinci was more known as an artist and scientist, but was also an inventor, architect, musician, mathmation, engineer, astronomy, writer, historian, and geologist. Da Vinci s most notable works of art were the Mona Lisa, The Last Supper, The Vitruvian Man, and the Lady with an Ermine. Da ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Da Vinci s artwork of The Last Supper is as a piece of art that captures the moment of Christ just after he tells his disciples that one of them will betray him is a very influential moment of the bible and is beautifully depicted in this art work. I believe this work of art is a stand alone piece of art that is great in that it shows Christ in the moment having his hands spread apart showing that they are pointed at a piece of bread and a glass of wine. Which in turn represents the body of Christ in the bread and the blood of Christ in the wine, which is the sacrament. What is also interesting about the painting is that Jesus s hand that is reaching for the wine is also near a dish on the table which Judas is reaching for symbolizing that fact that Judas is the one who betrays Jesus and has a bag of silver in his other hand in the painting. As for William Byrd, I believe his music is beautiful in the fact that it is very calming and easy listening, which makes me just want to listen to more of it. His style of music reminds me of the Gothic era of music in a way because of the deep echo voices in the background, but it has more to it as the other singers bring a more full sound to the piece of music and make the texture a nice soft but abrasive type of listening that has emotion in its sound.
