Reflection On The DWI Court Program
I entered the DWI Court Program on July 23, 2015 and successfully completed the program on
October 15, 2016. Besides a dilute the first week, I completed the program without incident.
From the start, I ve been committed to the program and have seen many benefits from everything I
have experienced. The program taught me more than I could ever imagined. It helped me heal, taught
he how to cope, how to handle stress, and how to balance taking care of myself and others. The
education and support I received these last two years has changed my life for the better. I am humbled
by the experience and grateful for the second chance.
The last two years have been extremely busy. While in the program, I worked full time and went back
to school to complete my bachelor s degree. I am proud to share that on May 6th, I will walk across
the stage to receive a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration from Lindenwood
University. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I share my story to demonstrate my commitment to be more and to do more.
In the spirit of being more and doing more, I would like to request a review of my probation terms. I
would like to inquire about the possibility of an early release from probation or possible movement to
bench probation. The request is motivated by my business schedule.
I am in the process of opening a new division of my company in Mexico. This effort will involve
extensive international travel. I currently have 2 trips to Mexico scheduled in May and expect to travel
once or twice a month for the foreseeable future. The alcohol/drug testing are challenging logistically
and will get expensive. I have a message into Christie Williams (Alumni Probation) about my May
travel. I anticipate having to do 2 follicle tests that will cost $300. The $300 will likely be in addition
to any normal scheduled testing that could

Toy Story Internal Conflict
a. The pixar film Toy Story presents an external conflict with our main characters Woody and Buzz
Lightyear. Buzz is the new toy in Andy s Room and starts getting too much attention for Andy s
favorite toy Woody s liking. Once Andy starts to favor Buzz, Woody becomes jealous leading to his
attempt to exterminate Buzz by pushing him out the window. The rest of the movie is about Woody
finding Buzz and bringing them back home safely while learning to live with each other s differences.
I believe this story to be a representation of person versus person. The Hunger Games as in the first
novel by Suzanne Collins presents an external conflict against people through Katniss Everdeen. She
must survive the games by using people to her advantage and killing the other kids in the games. She
only pretends to be attracted to Peeta for the sake of the audience s grace and will kill off multiple
people as the games ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Sabaa Tahir s book An Ember in the Ashes presents an internal conflict with our main character Elias.
Son of the tyrant called Commandment, Elias has trained all of his life to be a ruthless soldier and
more recently the new emperor of Serra. However, Elias thinks differently than his peers and does not
want to live out his days as a human weapon, cutting down anyone who opposes him like his mother
the Commandment. This type of conflict can be specified as person verses himself. Splash is a movie
about a mermaid who struggles with an internal conflict against society. Madison shows up in a world
different from her own in pursuit of her long time love, Allan. However, Allan s world is not very
accepting towards Mermaids believing they are nothing but myths except for one scientist who is onto
her. Madison then has to accustom to human traditions like eating with utensils, wearing clothes,
speaking English and paying for things all while trying to keep her secret from Allan and the scientist
who wants to share it with the public and his laboratory.

Marketing Strategy Of Bombardier As A Canadian Based...
Introduction
Bombardier is a Canadian based public company operating in the sector of manufacturing planes and
train in several countries. It was founded by Joseph Armand Bombardier in 1942. They key people
involved in the management are Pierre Beaudoin, Alain Bellemare and Lutz Bertling who are working
as Chairman, CEO and COO of the company respectively. Over the years, this company has utilized
its resources very well and followed a fantastic strategy of expansion. Most of the expansion was
made using inorganic strategy of expansion by acquiring various companies already running in the
industry which help Bombardier in quick rapid growth. This is quite clear as it has moved well in the
value system from making of snowmobiles to planes ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In an effort to achieve this, Bombardier Capital (BC) was formed in 1973 with a focus to provide
services of loan, asset management and leasing throughout the Americas. In 2004, BC saw a major
setback as Moody s credit evaluation section downgrades BC ranking to questionable credit quality
from moderate credit risk. At this time, Bombardier decided to get rid of Bombardier Capital and sold
this to GE Commercial Finance. Though, such downgrade has not affected its train and plane business
sections. Since then, Bombardier s main focus is on plane and train segment and it is performing very
well.
International Marketing Mix
Marketing is a way to achieve the best results using the right product in the right place using the
accurate price at the correct time. A related concept of marketing is marketing mix. Marketing mix is a
term which was first introduced by Neil Borden in order to promote and sell a product in the market.
Later, it was refined by the Jerome McCarthy in the form of 4Ps. Since then, this 4Ps are the best tools
to make a strategy to market and promote a product not just in the local market but in the international
market as well. It is recognized as the most valuable model to use the strength of the company to
exploit the opportunities in the market. Marketing mix model unfolds many hidden strategies which
are impossible to identify. By identifying the hidden areas, Bombardier can make a strategy for each

The Battle for Value, 2004: FedEx Corp. vs. United Parcel Service, Inc.
FedEx will produce superior financial returns for shareowners by providing high value added supply
chain, transportation, business, and related information services through focused operating companies
competing collectively, and managed collaboratively, under the respected FedEx brand.
FedEx Mission Statement (Excerpt)
We serve the evolving distribution, logistics, and commerce needs of our customers worldwide,
offering excellence and value in all we do. We sustain a financially strong company, with broad
employee ownership, that provides a long term competitive return to our shareowners.

While FedEx chose the strategy of a local partnership, UPS chose to enter the market alone. In 2005
UPS bought out the remaining shares of gained ownership of Sinotrans. This gave UPS 89 operating
facilities in 45 different locations, covering over 330 cities throughout China. There are challenges
though: * Foreign airlines cannot run domestic routes * EMS, the local parcel delivery service, is less
expensive than the entering international companies (FedEx, UPS, DHL, etc.) * Brand recognition is
low on the mainland, this goes back to Chinese culture of keeping with tradition (including traditional
companies) UPS was able to overcome this with their participation in the Olympic Games
(Charlotte Business)
The air express segment of the domestic package delivery market including letters and packages,
overnight, deferred and air or air and ground made up $25 billion of the $45 billion industry (Bruner

with commercial volume.

aggressively targeting the Chinese market, approached the challenge with slightly different goals.

Matthew 1 Genealogies
Matt 1:1 2:23. Predominantly, the Gospel of Matthew 1 traces the lineage of Jesus the Messiah, the
son David and the son of Abraham. These genealogies were important to Israel, as they took
meticulous records for identifying one as a Jew to receive blessings from God, his chosen people.
Furthermore, each tribe received inherited land in Israel, and required evidence that he was descended
from that precise tribe. Expressly, if you were a Jew descended from Moses and could prove this
connection, it was considered to secure a meaningful blessing. Matthew s sole purpose is to present
Jesus Christ as the Savior of Israel. Additionally, he recited numerous prophecies from the Old
Testament, incorporating how Jesus fulfilled them

A Quick Review On Reading Skills
A Quick Review
One of the major issues, making it difficult to evaluate How to Read a Book, is that this reviewer did
not have any books in his personal library with which to compare it. Sure, there are websites and
classes one might encounter that will help to improve the person in various aspects their of reading
skills, but too often these mediums seem to be more concerned with rapid and mass consumption with
the least amount of effort to produce an acceptable product. The intent in many approaches to reading
is not Adler and Doren s purpose of increased understanding, but is instead merely gaining
information to finalize a project quickly and advance to the next assignment. This is what made this
book not only unique, but also ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It moves the reader past merely what another thinks about a particular topic, and into higher forms of
learning that develop why one thinks the way they do.
Insight Gained from Reading
First, as previously stated, this reviewer s deficient venture into books of this type limited his
understanding of this topic to only personal experience. So, the four types of reading were not only
new, but also very beneficial. This method might be learned through trial and error, but the way in
which the book showed the process of reading could save the reader not only much trial, but also
plenty of error.
For example, the amount of time that has been lost by not understanding and being effective in
inspectional reading has probably cost many hours of extra perusing or lost information that would
have formed greater understanding. When inspectional reading is done poorly, this then effects how
one fully digests an author s intent in analytical reading. Or, in regards to syntopical reading, the final
project the reader is seeking to accomplish is often not brought to understanding, but merely a
regurgitation of collected information. The way in which the author interdependently built each level
of reading so

Advertising Campaign Is Not An Easy Task
Firms spend large amounts on advertising, estimated to reach $600b in 2015 , this spending represents
sunk costs . Increases in spending will not necessarily prove successful; moreover an effective
campaign will engage consumers and provide positive brand attitudes. For this reason this area of
research is important and should be noted. Increasing the effectiveness of one s advertising campaign
is not an easy task; there are many issues that have to be acknowledged and, more importantly,
understood. A plethora of research has been undertaken regarding consumer behaviour; one only
needs to look at the sheer volume of academic articles and books on the topic. There are however
several categories within consumer behaviour that a firm can target dependant on their product
offering. Exposure, memory and attitude pose these issues. Foremost exposure refers to the process by
which the consumer comes in to physical contact with a marketing stimulus and they can be exposed
to this stimulus during any stage of their decision making process. Exposure is mostly affected by
three factors; the position of the advert in mediums (e.g. TV or print); product distribution; and shelf
placement. Furthermore consumer memory refers to the persistence of learning over time ;
information is retrieved both consciously and unconsciously. Such memories can be retained for any
given period of time and stem from experiences and evaluations. Finally attitude is an evaluation a
consumer expresses

Universal Survey Museum
In the essay The Universal Survey Museum by Carol Duncan And Alan Wallach they talk about how
the Louvre was the first universal survey museum. From what I get from this essay the universal
survey museum reminds me of what most would call a traditional museum. Also in this essay Duncan
and Wallach state:
Museums belong to the same architectural and art historical category as temples, churches, shrines and
certain types of palaces. This comparison is not simply a convenient metaphor: museums share
fundamental characteristics with traditional ceremonial monuments. (2 3)

An art museum is a place to view the world as separate from ones self. One can view and contemplate
events and issues in a quite civil manner. The Art museum is a place to look at the world by ones self
not bothered by the ones around. But what happens when people act against these ways. Or put things
that should not be there. Then people ultimately change the why the space influence others. For
example a modern day guards chair or a fan for circulation. These objects although necessary often
distract from the space, especially if the space is an older museum like the Louvre. People would
hardly notice if there wasn t such a hard contrasts between old and new. However people often ignore
these items of comforted and ultimately change their final memory of a space to make it the most
idealistic version of reality. Why should any normal people want to be brought out of their perfect idea
of a place they ve always wanted to visit? Another thing that is unusual to see in an old museum like
the Louvre is a guard of roller blades. I realize this is practical and is probably the easiest and fastest
way to get around a place as

Diels Alder Reaction Lab Report
Purpose: In this experiment, I performed a Diels alder reaction by refluxing anthracene with maleic
anhydride in xylenes to form a bridged bicyclic product at high temperature. The reflux technique
involves continuous boiling of a solution to the temperature of reaction solvent where evaporating
solvent is condensed back into the original reaction flask. The product was collected by
recrystallization technique and characterized using melting point. A white powderish anthracene and
white somewhat crystallized maleic acid were used as starting product to yield 9, 10

Alka Seltzer Research Paper
Alka Seltzer is a medicine that acts as a pain reliever and an antacid. Antacids are used to help
neutralize the acids in the stomach and help treat acid reflux, heartburn, indigestion, and gastritis. The
tablets contain sodium bicarbonate (NaHCO3) and citric acid (C6H8O7). The sodium bicarbonate is a
base that helps neutralize the acids in the stomach, mainly hydrochloric acid (HCl). It does this by the
following reaction: Na3C3H5O7(aq) + 3HCl(aq) H3C3H5O7(aq) + 3NaCl(aq). When the tablets are
dropped into the water, a reaction occurs in which water (H2O), sodium citrate (Na3C6H5O7), and
carbon dioxide (CO2) are formed.
Gastritis, one of the conditions Alka Seltzer helps treat, occurs when the stomach lining is damaged or
weak. There are

10 Common Mistakes when Using Social Media to Grow Your...
10 common mistakes when using Social Media to grow your business I am hoping that by now you
will have already started to wake up to the idea of using social media to grow your business. In this
day and age it is absolutely vital that you do so. You will be surprised at just how much extra custom
you can gain just by making a couple of status updates every day or so. Before you jump into the
world of social media however, you would be wise to read this list. Let me introduce you to ten of the
most common mistakes people make when they use social media. 1. Only Focusing on Facebook: This
is the WORST mistake you can make. Sure, it is the largest social media network in the world, but if
you are looking for the most SEO juice and to really drive that traffic to your site then you WILL have
to use other social media networks. This includes sites such as Twitter. Do not be on too many though
(2 or 3 is suffice). Too many social media sites and you will spread yourself thin. The result is that you
will not be able to focus on anything properly. 2. Not Marketing Enough on Your Own Website: It is
VITAL that you have social media buttons on your website. This includes links to your social media
profiles AND links to allow people to share your content. 3. No SEO: One of the main reasons as to
why you want to use social media is for SEO purposes. Surprisingly very few people actually ensure
that their social media pages are SEO ed. If you do not know how to go about this then DO

Reflection On Personal Conflict
Oxford defines Conflict as a serious disagreement or argument, typically a protracted one.
The most recent conflict I had encountered was one that is related to my work. I currently work at an
IT company in Israel as an Office Manager. I have been working here for about two and a half years
and am pretty content with the job as I know all the loops and holes of the daily tasks that need to be
done. Recently, I have received an offer from another IT company, that would like to meet with me
and offer me a job at their company. I went to an interview with this other company and a day later
they told me that they were interested and would like to continue the hiring process with me.
That s when my personal conflict started. I had been working in a place that I liked not for over two
years, with nice conditions and friendly co workers. On the other hand, this other job is offering me a
higher salary than what I am making now, while my current job place has never offered to give me a
raise of any kind although I have been in situations in the company where I had to take on additional
tasks that were originally outside of my job description.
I will use the Ladder of Inference to try and understand my conflict and hopefully be able to decide
where it would be better for me to be in terms of a job place.
The ladder consists of seven steps: Reality and Facts, Selected Reality, Interpreted Reality,
Assumptions, Conclusions, Beliefs, Actions.
Starting from Reality and Facts by

Manet s Atlantia
In Briony Fer s discussion of the formation of modern art, she invites us to view the problematic
character of the modern art as a form of difference or incoherence (21,27). In this paper, I will
delineate her argument within the framework of Manet s Olympia and then add more dimensions to
the controversies involved in understanding Olympia by drawing upon T.J. Clark s criticism and
Manet s own voice. We will see that while Fer locates the painting within a dynamic current engaged
in dialogues with both the past and the future, Clark cares less about the time flow than about the
system of meaning determinant within its contemporary social political context. Manet himself,
however, is rather oblivious to the historically critical position ... Show more content on

As she defines the modern as a difference cultivated in the practice of art (21), in order to maker her
point, her analysis of Olympia dwells upon the conflicts between the painting and the artistic
conventions. She makes it clear that the incoherence occurs at two closely related levels, namely the
level of technique and the level of subject matter (27). With regard to the former, it seems that Manet
invokes the tradition of nude just so he can discard it. There is a lack of compliance...with a tradition
of painting of the nude, in which the nude female body was offered for contemplation in an idealized
form , and such departure from the technical convention of art making further enables the construction
of conflicts at the narrative level (Fer, 24): Olympia exhibits sharp control over her own sexuality in
an almost shameless way, yet the disgraceful defiance is diluted by the rich material embellishment,
the classicized title and the allegorical poem. She is a classless prostitute (for any reference to class
dissolves into the shadowy classical traditions invoked), but is a mysterious goddess at the same time.
The disregard of artistic practice combined with the ambiguous iconography leads to a further level of
incoherence of meaning or representation, which Fer seems to think, illustrates the difference that
proclaims modern art as a new phenomenon in its own

The Doctrine Of The Trinity
The word Trinity cannot be found in the bible, but neither can omnipresent or omniscient; yet they all
describe the Biblical expression of who God is and how he is revealed to humanity. Furthermore, the
doctrine of the Trinity is so crucial to Christianity, that if it was removed Christianity would crumble
and fall into cult status. Even through the doctrine of the Trinity took almost a three hundred to be
formally stated at the Council of Nicea (325) and the Council of Constantople (381);1 Roger Olsen
points out that all one has to do is read second and third century church fathers such as Athenagoras,
Tertullian, Irenaeus, Origen or Cyprian to see immediately that Christians believed in the Trinity long
before Constantine called all the Christian bishops to the first ecumenical council at Nicea in 325. 2
Thereby, this makes the doctrine of the Trinity part of the Great Tradition of Christian Belief for
almost 2000 years.3 Specifically; the Trinity is God who is three distinct entities Father, Son and Holy
Spirit. Neither is elevated above the other, rather they exist in perfect unity. The evidence supporting
the Trinity can been seen clearly in Scripture, has been affirmed by all branches of Christianity and
deeply contrasts all other concepts, such as modalism, Arianism and tritheism. First of all, the clearest
display of the Trinity, in the Bible is in the baptism of Christ. The three synoptic Gospel writers,
Matthew, Mark and Luke, all point to Jesus being in the

The Way of the Wind by Amos Oz Essay
The Way of the Wind by Amos Oz, is about a man named Shimshon Sheinbaum, and his view of his
son, Gideon. Shimshon was a military, political, and social hero amongst his kibbutz. He is a founding
father of the Hebrew Labor Movement. People in his kibbutz looked for him for guidance, because
this man was in top physical and mental shape devoting all of his life to learning as much as necessary
and the remainder to stay in peak shape. As one can imagine, he would expect the same of his son, and

Affluenza Punishment
Heinous crimes need punishments. In our current judicial system, the wealth of defendants often
allows for lesser sentences for crimes. Be it because a real sentence will cause too much strain on the
criminal or because someone was not told no enough times as a kid, wealthy people are getting off
with little to no punishment. This epidemic is often referred to as affluenza, a disease of the rich that
makes them unable to understand the consequences of their behavior, but it is not in the Diagnostic
and Statistical Manual, the psychology book that lists all mental disorders, which pretty much means
that it is not real: it is a made up disease (Szalavitz). Affluenza is something people use to describe
what rich kids have if their parents ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Ethan Couch of 2013, the Texas teenager who drove drunk and killed four people and injured nine
others, the affluenza defense was finally named as such. Ethan Couch was sixteen in 2013, the time of
the incident. He was allowed to stay unsupervised at his parents second home with his friends where
he decided to steal beer and become highly intoxicated. Late into the festivities, Ethan drove his seven
friends to a convenience store very erratically, speeding up to 70 mph. He wound up at the site of
another accident when he lost control of his truck and wound up killing four bystanders and causing
paralysis to a passenger of his truck (Klass). When it came time for the trial, he admitted guilt.
However, he was not going to accept the consequences. His powerhouse legal team called
psychologist Dr. G Dick Miller to the stand where he used the now famous term affluenza to explain
why Couch did what he did. According to Miller, Couch grew up in a wealthy lifestyle and had
virtually no consequences for his actions and thus was not expected to know that driving under the
influence (and under age) was prohibited by law (Klass). The prosecution for the case advocated that
Couch serve 20 years in prison, which was admittedly less than he deserved. However, he only
received ten years probation and a court required stint in a fancy rehabilitation center in California
(Szalavitz). The judge gave him quite a lenient sentence for killing four people. It would be hard to
deny that the affluenza claim by the defense did not somehow influence the sentencing, but either way,
it is despicable. The Couch family had the best lawyers for their son and that wealth spurred the claim
that none of it was his fault. Couch got away with killing four people simply because he was a wealthy
teenager with fancy lawyers who said that his parents were to blame and not him, even though he was

Importance Of Depository Receipt Is A Negotiable...
INTRODUCTION
The past few decades have witnessed the increased internationalization of various firms through cross
listings on international exchanges. This has been facilitated by market liberalisation, which has led to
greater integration of global securities markets. Cross border listing has become one of the avenues for
the integration of global securities markets.
There are two forms of cross border listing, namely, direct listing and indirect listing. Direct listing
implies that the firm concerned offers ordinary shares to the public. Indirect listing on exchanges is
through Depository Receipts (DRs). Depository receipt is a negotiable certificate issued by a bank in a
domestic country that represent ownership of shares in companies of other countries. Cross listing,
particularly through DRs such as American Depositary Receipts (ADRs) or Global Depositary
Receipts (GDRs), is a popular way of internationalisation among firms from emerging economies. In
addition to Europe and America, International firms are allowed to cross list in other countries through
the DR programme.
There could be several reasons for a domestic company to cross list, such as an expanding investor
base, the desire to improve stock liquidity through its highly liquid secondary market, the increasing
visibility of the company, a growing customer base, and the wish to take advantage of higher
valuations. From the perspective of investors, cross listing mitigates some

Contemporary network management systems mainly deal with avoiding network congestion and
frequent service disruptions by effectively handling the traffic dynamics. IP base environments still
don t have efficient system to utilize all the resources and efficient solution for dynamic traffic and
network conditions. So in this article we introduce a efficient traffic engineering and managing
mechanism called AMPLE. This system mainly consists of two components: Link Weight
Optimization (OLWO) and Adaptive Traffic Control (ATC). Link Weight Optimization (OLWO)
component generates maximum IGP path diversity using physical network topology as a input.
OLWO setting of link weights are optimized for maximum path diversity. The next component ATC
comes into the picture based on these diverse paths. ATC can efficiently manage the splitting ratios
across individual routing topologies. ATC does this by monitoring the network dynamics in a short
interval of time. We evaluated the proposed system using real network topologies and found that the
system can effectively handle the unprepared traffic dynamics and it can be used to achieve better

Abdominal Assessment
Upon further investigation, information was obtained and detailed clarifications were given to achieve
the development of a nursing assessment on a 44 year old female that was brought to the ER with
complains of left lower quadrant pain. With this kind of assessment, the patient s LLQ is often
associated with the gastrointestinal tract, but it can also be connected to circumstances of the wall,
skin, blood vessels, urinary tract, or reproduction organs. There are four quadrants in the abdomen,
divided into nine regions and this assessment would be to inspection, auscultation, percussion and
palpation. (Jenson, 2015.p.p 575 588)
Obtaining a personal history of the patient health would be my first assessment. Asking if she had any
abdominal difficulty now, any unplanned changes in her weight, and any changes in special dietary

Frederick Douglass Disobedience
This quote sparks interest due to disobedience often containing a negative connotation. However, in
this quote disobedience is honorable, and to be called disobedient is a compliment. According to
Wilde, disobedience is beneficial and without it social progress could not be made. Without
disobedience, society is unable to change or improve from past mistakes. Without rebellion or
disobedience, what will promote people to act on their injustices? Rebellion and disobedience are
beneficial in promoting social progress. Through it, citizens are able to bring issues and injustices they
want acknowledged to the forefront. Through these ways, they try to make the world a better place for
everyone and to bring people to the realization as to why the issues that they face are at fault and that
they should be restored. In relation to the novel, The Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass,
Frederick Douglass s disobedience ultimately sparked his freedom. Being introduced to the heart
rending shrieks from his aunt at such a young age, slavery has implanted a long lasting effect on his
life. Often times, when one experiences a painful memory in the manner such as, watching a family
member hit until they are covered with blood, sparks a fire to stand up for what is right in the back of
their mind. Douglass carried those visions of his aunt along with him his whole life, as well as his own
repulsive images and memories. These memories brought him to his jurisdiction of fighting back

Operant Behavior Analysis
This article defined the main accounts of antecedent processes in operant behavior, it presented a
theoretical review of applied research on antecedent events in behavior disorders, and lastly it
recognized some promising areas for upcoming studies. The article talks about three theorists and their
theories. These theorists include Skinner, Kantor, and Michael. Skinner is known for his reinforcement
theory, however, he had writings of the environmental settings under which behavior may occur.
Differential reinforcement of responding in the presence of discriminative stimuli is how Skinner
believed stimulus control over behavior is developed. Discrimination describes a certain functional
relationship between antecedent events, behavior, and consequences that deliveries to a variety of
circumstances. With this said, variables that are separate from the accessibility of reinforcement may
also affect the probability that behavior will happen. Skinner offered several processes to ... Show

Constructivist Teachers And Teaching Philosophy
Teachers who have a constructivist basis for their philosophy of teaching and learning are seldom
satisfied to use textbooks alone. Constructivists know that students must have motivation to search for
meaning and create their own understanding of the world of ideas. When students want to know more
about an idea, a topic, or an entire discipline, they put more cognitive energy into classroom
investigations and discussions and study more on their own. There are five identified central tenets of
constructivism as a teaching philosophy: Constructivist teachers seek and value students points of
view. This concept is similar to the reflective action process we call withitness, in which teachers
attempt to perceive students needs and respond to them appropriately; Constructivist teachers
challenge students to see different points of view and thereby construct new knowledge. Learning
occurs when teachers ask students what they think they know about a subject and why they think they
know it; Constructivist teachers recognize that curricula must have meaning for students. When
students see the relevance of curricula, their interest in learning grows; Constructivist teachers create
lessons that tackle big ideas, not small bits of information. By seeing the whole first, students are able
to determine how the parts fit together; Constructivist teachers assess student learning in daily
classroom activities, not through the use of separate testing or evaluation events. Students

Spielvogel s Description Of The Huns In Ancient Rome
In the section, The later Roman Empire, I do not believe it to be reliable descriptions of the Huns. The
Huns are described in a very biased manner. They have squat bodies, strong limbs, and thick necks,
and are so prodigiously ugly and bent that they might be two legged animals.. (Spielvogel p.180). In
my opinion, this quote from the section describes how unfactual and biased the author s opinion is on
the Huns. Historians believe that his account of the Huns is largely based on stereotypes (Spielvogel p.
180). I completely agree with this statement from the book because the whole section seems to be one
big stereotype. In consequence they are ill fitted to fight on foot, and remain glued to their horses,

Ammianus Marcellinus referred to them as nasty, large, animal looking, beasts. He also referred to
them as filthy. Once they have put their necks in some dingy shirt they never take it off or change it till

dressed terribly and presented themselves hideously. On the other hand, Priscus accounted Attila, who
was a Hun, he was invited to Attila s for a banquet. The banquet was at Attila s palace, this makes it
seem that Attila was not very poor, and was in fact pretty wealthy. He goes on to express, A luxurious
meal, served on silver plate, had been made ready for us and the other guest, but Attila ate nothing but
meat on a wooden platter (Spielvogel p. 180). I think that this describes that Priscus thought highly of
Attila. Attila put the guests above himself, he served their food on nice dishes and silverware and gave
them great food to eat, while he himself ate only meat on a wooden platter. In my opinion, Priscus
viewed the Hun as a selfless person. In everything else, too, he showed himself temperate; his cup was
of wood, while to the guests were given goblets of gold and silver. His dress, too, was quite simple,
affecting only to be clean (Spielvogel p. 180). This helps to explain that Priscus also viewed the Hun
as clean and well put together. I think the fact that the Huns were good in combat, served others well,

Antonio Ricci Bicycle Thieves

Antonio Ricci: The Bicycle Thief
Antonio Ricci, the protagonist of Vittorio De Sica s Bicycle Thieves, inhabits an Italy torn apart by the
Second World War. The decaying city streets and mass poverty is a far cry from the society united
under communism envisioned by earlier neorealist filmmakers. De Sica uses Ricci to critique
capitalism, as well to document the struggle of the masses in Post War Italy. The theft of his Bicycle
sends Ricci, along with De Sica s camera, across Rome and into the depths of Roman society.
The film emphasizes the rift between the upper and lower classes of Italy. The job Ricci lands at the
beginning of film has him putting up posters featuring Rita Hayworth, a reminder of Hollywood
idealism and a symbol of American wealth and glamour. Ricci later claims that movies bore him,
perhaps echoing the sentiments of the neorealists. The restaurant scene juxtaposes Ricci and his son,
Bruno, with a bourgeois family sitting at another table. The staff act contemptuously towards the
protagonists, avoiding eye contact and hurriedly delivering their food, furthermore their table is the
only one in the entire restaurant without a tablecloth, De Sica suggests that capitalism is not only the
division of wealth, but the division of people. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After he loses it, he seems to value its return as much as he values his own family. He repeatedly fails
to consider his son s well being in his unrelenting quest to locate the bike, marching onward as Bruno

bicycle itself works as a symbol of this corruption, a material possession (like money), that becomes
almost a physiological need within a capitalist

clothing, and sometimes even the murder weapon. While these are great way to solve a case there s
another kind of evidence; trace evidence. Trace evidence are small pieces of evidence that are laying
around a crime scene. There are many types of trace evidence some of them include metal filings,
plastic fragments, gunshot residue, glass fragments, feathers, food stains, building materials,
lubricants, fingernail scrapings, pollens and spores, cosmetics, chemicals, paper fibers and sawdust,
human and animal hairs, plant and vegetable fibers, blood and other body fluids, asphalt or tar,
vegetable fats and oils, dusts and other airborne ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Glass can also hold fingerprints which can be very valuable to an investigation as the fingerprints can
be taken up on tape and then ran through a database, possibly finding a match and allowing the
investigators to find and capture a suspect. Weapons, pray bars, blunt objects, clothing, and shoes are
where paint chips from door, walls, and furniture can be found. In order for paint to chip off there
needs to be a pretty serious struggle or a pretty hard force that will chip away at the paint then causing
it to land somewhere that the suspect forgot about. The Crime Scene labs have about forty thousand
different types of paint in their database. The majority of paint chips are from hit and run cases
involving automobiles. Dust and Dirt can determine many things to help an investigation along. It can
tell the investigators where a person has been, where they work, where they live, and if they have pets
in the house. Most soil samples will come from the top soil and only need to be a little bit over a
tablespoon to be processed. Pollen is also included in this as it is a subtype of dust and dirt Pollen
allows the investigators to know if they suspect or victim were outdoors, and if so where they could
have been. Firearms that are left behind at a crime scene can be extremely helpful. This evidence
includes not only the firearm itself but also the ammunition used in the firearm, componets that make
up the firearms, and the residue that comes out when the

Puerto Rico Under American Rule Essay
Puerto Rico Under American Rule
The United States gained control of the island of Puerto Rico as a result of the Spanish American war
in 1898, claiming its intention to free the island from Spanish colonialism. When the United States
took possession of the island, Puerto Rico became merely that, a controlled possession given little or
insignificant power in many facets of Puerto Rican life. In a matter of a few months, Puerto Rico
moved from being a Spanish possession to an American one, and this changing of hands had many
implications on the status of Puerto Rico, politically economically, and socially.
Moved by desires for freedom, social change, and political change, lack of leadership, and plainly,
fear, the Puerto Ricans ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Initially, the United States wanted and cherished Puerto Rico as a war prize, a way to protect its
interests and reinforce the idea among other empires, political leaders, and governments that it was a
supreme power by taking over the last Caribbean and Pacific colonies that Spain had. But that was all
they had in mind for the island; never was Puerto Rico meant to be a state, not even a territory but just
a possession with which the U.S. Government could do whatever it wanted to.
Yet, it wasn t that easy. In an effort to, again, protect its interest and to keep the peace, Congress
passed the Foraker Law in 1900, which established a civil government and free commerce between
the island and the United States. And in the next seventeen years, when Puerto Ricans were granted
American citizenship, by the Jones Act, the implications of this act, especially that of free trade, meant
that Puerto Ricans were being treated like Americans, and in turn, Americanization , the process by
which people of alien culture acquire American ways, standards of living and national

Examine the Effects of Globalisation on China
Examine the effects of globalisation on China
The process of globalisation in China has been a rapid one. China s exponential growth since the fall
of Mao has lead to increased international influence with China now operating on an international
scale.
Economically globalisation began in 1978 following Deng Xiaoping s Open Door policy. This opened
up China to foreign investment and the international markets. This lead to an influx of transnational
corporations, which was advantageous to Chinese companies who benefitted from technology transfer.
However, the TNC s moved to China for its cheap labour and manufacture, which presented an ethical
dilemma for China. Leaders had to decide whether to compromise on a lack of investment and poor ...

Globalisation has lead to the development of SEZ s along with Deng s Open Door policy.
Globalisation has given these SEZ s both advantages and disadvantages and has lead to rapid
economic growth but often compromised on the Chinese people.
Socially, globalisation has both increased levels of Westernisation and increased development in the
interior. Increased Westernisation has lead to both positive impacts with over 100 million Chinese
have internet access, with 360 million owning a mobile phone, whilst 380 million own a TV.
However, this can mean a loss of culture with the younger generation less willing to retain traditional
practices like farming and rice planting, but instead want to move into the city and enjoy a western
style living. Globalisation has lead to both the benefits from Westernisation eg McDonald s
sponsoring the 2008 Olympics, but also the negatives including a loss of cultures and traditional
Chinese practices. Development along the interior as also resulted from globalisation. As China has
been put under pressure to reduce rural urban inequality, it has begun development in rural areas. This
has lead to the transformation of White Horse Village into a major city. This has meant that the old
village was demolished and new high rise buildings replaced rice paddies. This has increased growth
in the area and had meant an influx of migrants back

Ashleigh s Mistake In Thousand Words By Jennifer Brown
Thousand Words, Jennifer Brown In the novel Thousand Words, Ashleigh makes a crucial mistake by
sending her boyfriend a scandalous picture, only for it to ultimately backfire. During this time, she
feels controlled, and her emotions are basically the toys of everyone surrounding her. Because of this,
the story is about power, namely being powerless in a situation that s out of your hands. From the first
time we meet her, Ashleigh is extremely remorseful. She no longer feels like her life has much worth,
and most of her life is now dictated by others, as with the community service sentence and the
constant harassment. When regretting the picture, Ashleigh says, What I wouldn t have given to go
back to that night and do things over again. (Brown 170). Clearly, she is not in a position of power;
she is the one that is oppressed. Her desire for power, in this situation, is to have the power to make
everything go back to normal, or how it was before this horrible incident. She wants her friends to like
her again, she wants to make her own decisions, and she wants to stop being bothered and harassed.
As Ashleigh said herself, I d had enough. I didn t want to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This fight transforms her from a former popular girl who lost everything to a strong girl who can
bounce back from anything. By the end of the story, she gains some confidence back and can stick up
to the bullies dragging her down. Her freedom does not come in the form of fighting them, nor is it
attained by dragging them down with her. It comes by accepting herself, which really shows who she
has become, and gives the book much better message (and overall story) than skank screws up . At the
very last part, she and her friend Mack write, A picture is worth a thousand words, but they don t tell
the whole story. (Brown 272) When she realizes that there s more to her than that nude picture, she has

Blue Crabs
Maryland is known for their blue crabs, but if crabbers exploit the blue crabs population, Maryland s
famous blue crabs will be extinct. Blue crabs play a large economic role in Maryland as they bring in
money for the state, whether it be from people going crabbing or eating crabs. With all the benefits of
blue crabs in Maryland, the government has taken a stand to ensure a large blue crab population in the
future.
The blue crab population in the Chesapeake Bay was considered to be a surplus from the 1950s to
around the 2000s as well as in the Bay s tributaries (Stagg Whilden, 1997). The blue crabs in
Maryland live for about three years (Stagg Whilden, 1997). This is part of the reason that it s so
important that a high level of blue crabs is maintained so that they ll be able to produce offspring
future generations. Approximately 75% of the entire blue crab population is made up of the crabs in
Maryland (Lui, 2015). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The female blue crab population increased by 32 million from 2014 to 2015 to be a 101 million ( Blue
Crab , 2016). In 2016, the female blue crab population also rose dramatically. The female population
increased by 93 million for there to be a total of 194 million female blue crabs ( Blue Crab , 2016).
This increase was important because it showed the regulations place were working and that they did
not need to be modified. Also, the female blue crab population is substantially over the threshold of 70
million, which infers that the blue crabs are not being overharvested. The total blue crab population in
Maryland increased by 114 million in 2015 and by 142 million in 2016 to 553 million ( 2016 Blue,
2016). The rise in the total population supported that the regulations in effect were beneficial to help
the blue crab population increase. With the 10% decrease in the total amount that the female blue
crabs were harvested, the population was able to steadily increase over the coming

The Theory Of Game Theory
Game theory is one to more complexed topics but reveals a clear understanding from different
scholars. Don Ross explained that game theory is the study that interacts with the different choices of
economics agents which bring forth many different outcomes with the point to the preferences of
those agents, where the outcomes in question might have been intended by none of the agents (Ross,
2016). The properties that game theory considers in economic situations include two or more
economic actors that is, two or more firms, individuals, political parties, etc. Each individual
economic actor has a set of decisions they can make what price to charge, how much to save, whether
to move right or left, etc. Each individual economic actor has a goal or payoff, such as profit
maximization, maximize happiness, minimize loss, etc.
The decisions made by one economic actor not only affects her payoff, but the payoff of one or more
other economic actors. Schmidt (2003) states that Game theory was invented in order to satisfy a
mathematical curiosity. The difficulty at the outset was to find a theoretical solution to the problem
posed by uncertainty in games of chance (Schmidt, 2003). He further stated that the first completed
formula of mathematical strategies was sketched by Boral. The application of game theory to
economics posed a more fundamental problem due to the distance of separating several major
concepts articulated in Theory of Games and Economic Behavior. Economics

Homelessness Is An Ever Growing Epidemic
Clifford Richardson
Student at Marylhurst University
Prepared for
Professor Scott Stringer
March 17, 2016
Abstract
In the complex society of this day and age, homelessness is an ever growing epidemic; People can
become homeless for many reasons: losing a job, addiction to drugs and mental illness. People drive
or walk past a homeless person every day without thinking ever about the predicament of that
individual or they may even unintentionally turn their heads the other way in repulsion. Homelessness
can be defined as an individual or a family whose has a main nighttime dwelling that is a public or
private place not designed for or normally used as a regular sleeping accommodation for human
beings, including a car, park, abandoned building, bus or train station, airport, or camping ground,
doorway or alley sidewalk. Any given night in Portland there can be upwards of 4000 people sleeping
on the streets in homeless camps, shelters, or under the bridges, this report looks at the direct
correlation between homelessness, the disease of drug addiction, and mental illness, And will try to
address ways to help decrease and prevent it from increasing.
Introduction/Background
Have you ever walked in Downtown Portland with sole intention of paying attention to the details of
your surroundings? A person would think that the first thing that they would notice is the beautiful
architecture of the buildings or maybe the many statues and fountains that line the

Analysis Of The Storm By Kate Chopin
Kate Chopin in the Storm utilizes imagery in characters to build up the theme of love through the
perspective of sex and infidelity. The short story The Storm by Kate Chopin, manages the theme of
adultery. The story happens in the late 1800s. There are two fundamental characters, the spouse,
Calixta, and the previous significant other, Alcee. The short story, The Storm by Kate Chopin is about
a romantic love that would never be until the point when it quickly was. The point that Chopin was
attempting to get crosswise over was that Calixta and Alcee had a solid enthusiasm for each other, and
maybe loved one another, yet they would never have had the chance being in separte social classes. It
is an enthusiastic, yet concise affair between two wedded individuals from various social classes that
happens amid a storm in Louisiana around 1898. All through the story the consistent changing of
symbolism assumes an extraordinary part in the advancement of characters and their capacity to
accomplish the theme.
In spite of the fact that there is a physical in the story, there is likewise a storm of emotions. Chopin
can pass on the behaviors of her characters all through the story in light of the fact that the storm that
happens at the earliest reference point of her story. As the storm approaches Calixta is home sewing,
while spouse Bobinot and child Bibi are out at the store. Bobinot sees the dismal mists that were
moving with evil aim from the west, joined by a grim,

Besides a dilute the first week, I completed the program without incident. From the start, I ve been committed to the program and have seen many benefits from everything I have experienced. The program taught me more than I could ever imagined. It helped me heal, taught he how to cope, how to handle stress, and how to balance taking care of myself and others. The education and support I received these last two years has changed my life for the better. I am humbled by the experience and grateful for the second chance. Buzz is the new toy in Andy s Room and starts getting too much attention for Andy s favorite toy Woody s liking. Once Andy starts to favor Buzz, Woody becomes jealous leading to his attempt to exterminate Buzz by pushing him out the window. The rest of the movie is about Woody finding Buzz and bringing them back home safely while learning to live with each other s differences. I believe this story to be a representation of person versus person. The Hunger Games as in the first novel by Suzanne Collins presents an external conflict against people through Katniss Everdeen. She must survive the games by using people to her advantage and killing the other kids in the games. A Quick Review On Reading Skills A Quick Review One of the major issues, making it difficult to evaluate How to Read a Book, is that this reviewer did not have any books in his personal library with which to compare it. Sure, there are websites and classes one might encounter that will help to improve the person in various aspects their of reading skills, but too often these mediums seem to be more concerned with rapid and mass consumption with the least amount of effort to produce an acceptable product. The intent in many approaches to reading is not Adler and Doren s purpose of increased understanding, but is instead merely gaining information to finalize a project quickly and advance to the next assignment. This is what made this book not only unique, but also ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It moves the reader past merely what another thinks about a particular topic, and into higher forms of learning that develop why one thinks the way they do. Insight Gained from Reading First, as previously stated, this reviewer s deficient venture into books of this type limited his understanding of this topic to only personal experience. So, the four types of reading were not only new, but also very beneficial. This method might be learned through trial and error, but the way in which the book showed the process of reading could save the reader not only much trial, but also plenty of error. For example, the amount of time that has been lost by not understanding and being effective in inspectional reading has probably cost many hours of extra perusing or lost information that would have formed greater understanding. When inspectional reading is done poorly, this then effects how one fully digests an author s intent in analytical reading. Or, in regards to syntopical reading, the final project the reader is seeking to accomplish is often not brought to understanding, but merely a regurgitation of collected information. • 10. Advertising Campaign Is Not An Easy Task Firms spend large amounts on advertising, estimated to reach $600b in 2015 , this spending represents sunk costs . Increases in spending will not necessarily prove successful; moreover an effective campaign will engage consumers and provide positive brand attitudes. For this reason this area of research is important and should be noted. Increasing the effectiveness of one s advertising campaign is not an easy task; there are many issues that have to be acknowledged and, more importantly, understood. A plethora of research has been undertaken regarding consumer behaviour; one only needs to look at the sheer volume of academic articles and books on the topic. There are however several categories within consumer behaviour that a firm can target dependant on their product offering. Exposure, memory and attitude pose these issues. Foremost exposure refers to the process by which the consumer comes in to physical contact with a marketing stimulus and they can be exposed to this stimulus during any stage of their decision making process. Exposure is mostly affected by three factors; the position of the advert in mediums (e.g. TV or print); product distribution; and shelf placement. Furthermore consumer memory refers to the persistence of learning over time ; information is retrieved both consciously and unconsciously. Such memories can be retained for any given period of time and stem from experiences and evaluations. Finally attitude is an evaluation a consumer expresses ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

From what I get from this essay the universal survey museum reminds me of what most would call a traditional museum. Also in this essay Duncan and Wallach state: Museums belong to the same architectural and art historical category as temples, churches, shrines and certain types of palaces. This comparison is not simply a convenient metaphor: museums share fundamental characteristics with traditional ceremonial monuments. (2 3) I fine this statement to be true. Then people ultimately change the why the space influence others. For example a modern day guards chair or a fan for circulation. These objects although necessary often distract from the space, especially if the space is an older museum like the Louvre. People would hardly notice if there wasn t such a hard contrasts between old and new. However people often ignore these items of comforted and ultimately change their final memory of a space to make it the most idealistic version of reality. Why should any normal people want to be brought out of their perfect idea of a place they ve always wanted to visit? • 14. Alka Seltzer Research Paper Alka Seltzer is a medicine that acts as a pain reliever and an antacid. Antacids are used to help neutralize the acids in the stomach and help treat acid reflux, heartburn, indigestion, and gastritis. The tablets contain sodium bicarbonate (NaHCO3) and citric acid (C6H8O7). The sodium bicarbonate is a base that helps neutralize the acids in the stomach, mainly hydrochloric acid (HCl). It does this by the following reaction: Na3C3H5O7(aq) + 3HCl(aq) H3C3H5O7(aq) + 3NaCl(aq). When the tablets are dropped into the water, a reaction occurs in which water (H2O), sodium citrate (Na3C6H5O7), and carbon dioxide (CO2) are formed. • 16. Reflection On Personal Conflict Oxford defines Conflict as a serious disagreement or argument, typically a protracted one. The most recent conflict I had encountered was one that is related to my work. I currently work at an IT company in Israel as an Office Manager. I have been working here for about two and a half years and am pretty content with the job as I know all the loops and holes of the daily tasks that need to be done. Recently, I have received an offer from another IT company, that would like to meet with me and offer me a job at their company. I went to an interview with this other company and a day later they told me that they were interested and would like to continue the hiring process with me. That s when my personal conflict started. I had been working in a place that I liked not for over two years, with nice conditions and friendly co workers. On the other hand, this other job is offering me a higher salary than what I am making now, while my current job place has never offered to give me a raise of any kind although I have been in situations in the company where I had to take on additional tasks that were originally outside of my job description. I will use the Ladder of Inference to try and understand my conflict and hopefully be able to decide where it would be better for me to be in terms of a job place. The ladder consists of seven steps: Reality and Facts, Selected Reality, Interpreted Reality, Assumptions, Conclusions, Beliefs, Actions. Starting from Reality and Facts by ... • 17. Manet s Atlantia In Briony Fer s discussion of the formation of modern art, she invites us to view the problematic character of the modern art as a form of difference or incoherence (21,27). In this paper, I will delineate her argument within the framework of Manet s Olympia and then add more dimensions to the controversies involved in understanding Olympia by drawing upon T.J. Clark s criticism and Manet s own voice. We will see that while Fer locates the painting within a dynamic current engaged in dialogues with both the past and the future, Clark cares less about the time flow than about the system of meaning determinant within its contemporary social political context. Manet himself, however, is rather oblivious to the historically critical position ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As she defines the modern as a difference cultivated in the practice of art (21), in order to maker her point, her analysis of Olympia dwells upon the conflicts between the painting and the artistic conventions. She makes it clear that the incoherence occurs at two closely related levels, namely the level of technique and the level of subject matter (27). With regard to the former, it seems that Manet invokes the tradition of nude just so he can discard it. There is a lack of compliance...with a tradition of painting of the nude, in which the nude female body was offered for contemplation in an idealized form , and such departure from the technical convention of art making further enables the construction of conflicts at the narrative level (Fer, 24): Olympia exhibits sharp control over her own sexuality in an almost shameless way, yet the disgraceful defiance is diluted by the rich material embellishment, the classicized title and the allegorical poem. She is a classless prostitute (for any reference to class dissolves into the shadowy classical traditions invoked), but is a mysterious goddess at the same time. The disregard of artistic practice combined with the ambiguous iconography leads to a further level of incoherence of meaning or representation, which Fer seems to think, illustrates the difference that proclaims modern art as a new phenomenon in its own ... The Doctrine Of The Trinity The word Trinity cannot be found in the bible, but neither can omnipresent or omniscient; yet they all describe the Biblical expression of who God is and how he is revealed to humanity. Furthermore, the doctrine of the Trinity is so crucial to Christianity, that if it was removed Christianity would crumble and fall into cult status. Even through the doctrine of the Trinity took almost a three hundred to be formally stated at the Council of Nicea (325) and the Council of Constantople (381);1 Roger Olsen points out that all one has to do is read second and third century church fathers such as Athenagoras, Tertullian, Irenaeus, Origen or Cyprian to see immediately that Christians believed in the Trinity long before Constantine called all the Christian bishops to the first ecumenical council at Nicea in 325. 2 Thereby, this makes the doctrine of the Trinity part of the Great Tradition of Christian Belief for almost 2000 years.3 Specifically; the Trinity is God who is three distinct entities Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Neither is elevated above the other, rather they exist in perfect unity. The evidence supporting the Trinity can been seen clearly in Scripture, has been affirmed by all branches of Christianity and deeply contrasts all other concepts, such as modalism, Arianism and tritheism. First of all, the clearest display of the Trinity, in the Bible is in the baptism of Christ. The three synoptic Gospel writers, Matthew, Mark and Luke, all point to Jesus being in the ... Be it because a real sentence will cause too much strain on the criminal or because someone was not told no enough times as a kid, wealthy people are getting off with little to no punishment. This epidemic is often referred to as affluenza, a disease of the rich that makes them unable to understand the consequences of their behavior, but it is not in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual, the psychology book that lists all mental disorders, which pretty much means that it is not real: it is a made up disease (Szalavitz). Ethan Couch was sixteen in 2013, the time of the incident. He was allowed to stay unsupervised at his parents second home with his friends where he decided to steal beer and become highly intoxicated. Late into the festivities, Ethan drove his seven friends to a convenience store very erratically, speeding up to 70 mph. He wound up at the site of another accident when he lost control of his truck and wound up killing four bystanders and causing paralysis to a passenger of his truck (Klass). When it came time for the trial, he admitted guilt. However, he was not going to accept the consequences. His powerhouse legal team called psychologist Dr. G Dick Miller to the stand where he used the now famous term affluenza to explain why Couch did what he did. According to Miller, Couch grew up in a wealthy lifestyle and had virtually no consequences for his actions and thus was not expected to know that driving under the influence (and under age) was prohibited by law (Klass). The prosecution for the case advocated that Couch serve 20 years in prison, which was admittedly less than he deserved. However, he only received ten years probation and a court required stint in a fancy rehabilitation center in California (Szalavitz). The judge gave him quite a lenient sentence for killing four people. It would be hard to deny that the affluenza claim by the defense did not somehow influence the sentencing, but either way, it is despicable. The Couch family had the best lawyers for their son and that wealth spurred the claim that none of it was his fault. INTRODUCTION The past few decades have witnessed the increased internationalization of various firms through cross listings on international exchanges. This has been facilitated by market liberalisation, which has led to greater integration of global securities markets. Cross border listing has become one of the avenues for the integration of global securities markets. There are two forms of cross border listing, namely, direct listing and indirect listing. Direct listing implies that the firm concerned offers ordinary shares to the public. Indirect listing on exchanges is through Depository Receipts (DRs). Depository receipt is a negotiable certificate issued by a bank in a domestic country that represent ownership of shares in companies of other countries. Cross listing, particularly through DRs such as American Depositary Receipts (ADRs) or Global Depositary Receipts (GDRs), is a popular way of internationalisation among firms from emerging economies. In addition to Europe and America, International firms are allowed to cross list in other countries through the DR programme. There could be several reasons for a domestic company to cross list, such as an expanding investor base, the desire to improve stock liquidity through its highly liquid secondary market, the increasing visibility of the company, a growing customer base, and the wish to take advantage of higher valuations. Constructivists know that students must have motivation to search for meaning and create their own understanding of the world of ideas. When students want to know more about an idea, a topic, or an entire discipline, they put more cognitive energy into classroom investigations and discussions and study more on their own. There are five identified central tenets of constructivism as a teaching philosophy: Constructivist teachers seek and value students points of view. This concept is similar to the reflective action process we call withitness, in which teachers attempt to perceive students needs and respond to them appropriately; Constructivist teachers challenge students to see different points of view and thereby construct new knowledge. Learning occurs when teachers ask students what they think they know about a subject and why they think they know it; Constructivist teachers recognize that curricula must have meaning for students. When students see the relevance of curricula, their interest in learning grows; Constructivist teachers create lessons that tackle big ideas, not small bits of information. During this time there was relative peace in the Empire that allowed unification of peoples that up to this point in history had never happened. The peace afforded a time that saw the ability for roads to be built that connected every corner of the known world that the Roman Empire held. This time of peace can be attributed to Caesar Augustus (Octavian) due to his ability to manage the Roman senate in a way that led to government policy to balance all aspects of life. Christ was born into this time of peace and begins His earthly ministry in the Roman occupied land of Judea. And though it is the Roman government that crucifies at the behest of the Sanhedrin, it is the Roman peace that helps the fledgling Christian faith move throughout the known world. • 32. Spielvogel s Description Of The Huns In Ancient Rome In the section, The later Roman Empire, I do not believe it to be reliable descriptions of the Huns. The Huns are described in a very biased manner. They have squat bodies, strong limbs, and thick necks, and are so prodigiously ugly and bent that they might be two legged animals.. (Spielvogel p.180). In my opinion, this quote from the section describes how unfactual and biased the author s opinion is on the Huns. Historians believe that his account of the Huns is largely based on stereotypes (Spielvogel p. 180). I completely agree with this statement from the book because the whole section seems to be one big stereotype. Ammianus Marcellinus referred to them as nasty, large, animal looking, beasts. He also referred to them as filthy. Once they have put their necks in some dingy shirt they never take it off or change it till it rots and falls to pieces from incessant wear (Spielvogel p.180). Ammianus described that they dressed terribly and presented themselves hideously. On the other hand, Priscus accounted Attila, who was a Hun, he was invited to Attila s for a banquet. The banquet was at Attila s palace, this makes it seem that Attila was not very poor, and was in fact pretty wealthy. He goes on to express, A luxurious meal, served on silver plate, had been made ready for us and the other guest, but Attila ate nothing but meat on a wooden platter (Spielvogel p. 180). I think that this describes that Priscus thought highly of Attila. Attila put the guests above himself, he served their food on nice dishes and silverware and gave them great food to eat, while he himself ate only meat on a wooden platter. In my opinion, Priscus viewed the Hun as a selfless person. In everything else, too, he showed himself temperate; his cup was of wood, while to the guests were given goblets of gold and silver. His dress, too, was quite simple, affecting only to be clean (Spielvogel p. 180). This helps to explain that Priscus also viewed the Hun as clean and well put together. I think the fact that the Huns were good in combat, served others well, and were large and strong would be impressive to and overawe the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 37. Antonio Ricci Bicycle Thieves Jacob Spence September 17th, 2014 ITA1113 Antonio Ricci: The Bicycle Thief Antonio Ricci, the protagonist of Vittorio De Sica s Bicycle Thieves, inhabits an Italy torn apart by the Second World War. The decaying city streets and mass poverty is a far cry from the society united under communism envisioned by earlier neorealist filmmakers. De Sica uses Ricci to critique capitalism, as well to document the struggle of the masses in Post War Italy. The theft of his Bicycle sends Ricci, along with De Sica s camera, across Rome and into the depths of Roman society. The film emphasizes the rift between the upper and lower classes of Italy. The job Ricci lands at the beginning of film has him putting up posters featuring Rita Hayworth, a reminder of Hollywood idealism and a symbol of American wealth and glamour. Ricci later claims that movies bore him, perhaps echoing the sentiments of the neorealists. The restaurant scene juxtaposes Ricci and his son, Bruno, with a bourgeois family sitting at another table. The staff act contemptuously towards the protagonists, avoiding eye contact and hurriedly delivering their food, furthermore their table is the only one in the entire restaurant without a tablecloth, De Sica suggests that capitalism is not only the division of wealth, but the division of people. ... The Crime Scene labs have about forty thousand different types of paint in their database. The majority of paint chips are from hit and run cases involving automobiles. Pollen is also included in this as it is a subtype of dust and dirt Pollen allows the investigators to know if they suspect or victim were outdoors, and if so where they could have been. Puerto Rico Under American Rule Essay Puerto Rico Under American Rule The United States gained control of the island of Puerto Rico as a result of the Spanish American war in 1898, claiming its intention to free the island from Spanish colonialism. When the United States took possession of the island, Puerto Rico became merely that, a controlled possession given little or insignificant power in many facets of Puerto Rican life. In a matter of a few months, Puerto Rico moved from being a Spanish possession to an American one, and this changing of hands had many implications on the status of Puerto Rico, politically economically, and socially. But that was all they had in mind for the island; never was Puerto Rico meant to be a state, not even a territory but just a possession with which the U.S. Government could do whatever it wanted to. Yet, it wasn t that easy. In an effort to, again, protect its interest and to keep the peace, Congress passed the Foraker Law in 1900, which established a civil government and free commerce between the island and the United States. And in the next seventeen years, when Puerto Ricans were granted American citizenship, by the Jones Act, the implications of this act, especially that of free trade, meant that Puerto Ricans were being treated like Americans, and in turn, Americanization , the process by which people of alien culture acquire American ways, standards of living and national ... Don Ross explained that game theory is the study that interacts with the different choices of economics agents which bring forth many different outcomes with the point to the preferences of those agents, where the outcomes in question might have been intended by none of the agents (Ross, 2016). The properties that game theory considers in economic situations include two or more economic actors that is, two or more firms, individuals, political parties, etc. Each individual economic actor has a set of decisions they can make what price to charge, how much to save, whether to move right or left, etc. Each individual economic actor has a goal or payoff, such as profit maximization, maximize happiness, minimize loss, etc. The decisions made by one economic actor not only affects her payoff, but the payoff of one or more other economic actors. Schmidt (2003) states that Game theory was invented in order to satisfy a mathematical curiosity. The difficulty at the outset was to find a theoretical solution to the problem posed by uncertainty in games of chance (Schmidt, 2003). He further stated that the first completed formula of mathematical strategies was sketched by Boral.
