Hence this course of Business Communication and
Report Writing, aims to enhance; the written and
spoken communication skills needed in the business
environment, expand critical thinking and problem
solving skills and development of these skills is
integrated with the use of technology.

Course Objectives
• By the end of the course, students will be able to:
1. Exhibit advanced communication techniques including skillful use of words,
emphasis, unity, tone and style.
2. Communicate in a concise, clear, straightforward language.
3. Develop problem-solving and critical-thinking skills by analyzing business
problems, resulting in functional business documents: memoranda, letters, and
reports.
4. Strengthen reading and analytical skills by studying inductive and deductive
strategies, as well as comparing effective and ineffective business documents.
5. Demonstrate that they are perceptive and skillful communicators and that they
have the interpersonal, listening, and speaking skills necessary in both
independent and collaborative situations.
6. Apply functional and flexible communication skills within an expanding business
environment constantly affected by international, ethical, and diversity needs.
7. Integrate electronic elements in the oral and written communication process.
8. Identify important aspects of and develop materials for the job- search process.

Oral Communication
Since the Medium of Instruction will be English Language, thus it will be
strongly expected to converse in the same language, thus providing
themselves with the opportunity to use various techniques of Effective
Communication, I.e., Questioning, sharing of Ideas with Pair, Group and
Whole Class. Since the Module is all about Business Communication and
Conducting Workshops, thus oral communication will be emphasized by
default.
In particular, students will be able to:
• Demonstrate the ability to express ideas and opinions on various
Business related topics
• Participate in classroom discussions and conduct workshops on multiple
topics.

symbols, signs or behaviors.
• Skill: is defined as a learned power of doing
something competently and something that is a
developed aptitude or ability.
• Communication Skills: Put the two together and
it’s obvious good communication skills can be
learned and that those skills can be used to
effectively deliver your message.

Verbal communication (Language)
Words themselves do not have meaning. People have
meaning, and words are simply tools to convey that
meaning. What may be familiar to one person may
not be to another
Nonverbal communications
• One’s nonverbal communications, or body language
reflects one’s culture,
• It develops over time and with practice
• It is usually unconscious behavior
