and then spelling during editing. Students
are responsible for trick words posted and
phonics skills covered.

A classroom-based social-skills program for children
that teaches socio-emotional skills aimed at reducing
impulsive and aggressive behavior while increasing
social competence.

Mrs. Barra is our school counselor and she has a
short video she’d like me to share with you.

•Intervention time for ALL students
•30 minutes, 5 days per week
•Focus on needs of students (reading, writing,
math, speech, social-emotional, English as a
Second Language)
•Myself, literacy aide (Mrs. Sell), math aide (Mrs.
Holt), counselor (Mrs. Barra), ESL teacher,
speech teacher (Mrs. Hewerdine), Special Ed
teacher (Mrs. Cozad).

•Classroom Library
2 books at a time
•DGS Library Wednesday 9-9:30
Once a week, check out 1 book, return
the next week to check out another book

•Everyone will get to try (as we get into
guided reading)
•Reading to, with, or independently

  • 8. •Shared/Modeled Reading •Guided Reading - Daily 5 Students choose from 5 activities: Read to Self Writing Read to Someone Word Work Listening
  • 9. •Forms – story, report, letter, how to…, personal narrative, observation log, biography • Grammar – appropriate for first grade •Spelling – main focus is thought production and then spelling during editing. Students are responsible for trick words posted and phonics skills covered.

  • 11. A classroom-based social-skills program for children that teaches socio-emotional skills aimed at reducing impulsive and aggressive behavior while increasing social competence.
