• Self-registration, lunch ordering and quick start
activity.
• Visual timetable and date chart.
• AM - Mostly Literacy and Maths.
• PM – Number Talks, Other Curricular Areas.
• Enjoy-a-ball with Kevin on Wednesday mornings
and P.E. on Thursdays.
• Direct teaching, PSW supported tasks, whole
class games, independent tasks, group and pair
task, and structured play.
Reading
• Oxford Reading Tree and other stories
and reading resources.
• Guided reading, paired reading and
reciprocal reading.
• Workbook activities and games.
• Analyse different genres and types of
functional text to support writing.
Phonics/Spelling
• New spelling pattern will be taught each
week.
• Activities and support in class throughout
the week.
• Combination of words which follow this
pattern and common/tricky words will sent
home on Mondays.
• Spelling test of Fridays.
• Progress from detailed black pen
drawings to more advanced forms of
planning.
• Opportunities to read and analyse
models of writing.
• Teacher modelling and shared writing.
• Functional and imaginative writing.
• Begin self and peer assessment of
writing.
