Floppy Disk Fallacies By Elizabeth Bohnhorst
The Evolution of Technology What if all through schooling, grades first through twelfth, the use of
any technology was not allowed? Not even as a learning resource or tool? What would our world
be like today? Elizabeth Bohnhorst, author of Floppy Disk Fallacies, believes that technology is
having a negative impact on students and that it is taking away from their education. Bohnhorst
wrote her essay in 2005, when computers were still an essential in every day life; it was only ten
years ago. Technology has evolved quite a bit, but I can still remember sitting in my freshman high
schoolclasses, with multiple computers in every classroom, there to assist us with research, media,
and learningprograms. Learning about and how technology works at an early age is critical for
students and young adults to succeed in their future.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Future employers will expect every person they hire to know how to send a proper email, and that
is something they do not teach you during training! Bohnhorst believes that the only difference
from learning and learning with technology is that there is a screen sitting in front of the student
(251). Learning with technology will [slowly] assist the students the in s and out s of working
technology and computers. What does Bohnhorst think of college classes in 2015? Online classes
are a very popular option for the working college student and professors allow laptops in their
classrooms for note taking and research. Students need to learn now, in the classrooms, so they are

The Breakfast Club By John Hughes
The Breakfast Club
Noah Lane
Ivy Tech Community College
Abstract This paper is why everyone should watch The Breakfast Club. It tells a story of four
teenagers battling with rebellion, drama, and love. Most critics will argue that it is not realistic,
and no teenager is like that. However, The Breakfast Club written by John Hughes made teens
everywhere relate to at least one of these characters. This movie is a dramatic comedy that will
make someone laugh, cry, and angry all brought together in one amazing film.
The Breakfast Club The Breakfast Club, starring Emilio Estevez, Judd Nelson, and many other great
actors is a fantastic teen comedy. This movie had great humor along with heart warming love. It
is almost impossible to name one bad thing about this movie. The Breakfast Club is jammed
packed full of comedy, drama, and rebellion. These four high school students represent every
cliche in the 1980s school life. As typical as this may sound for a teen comedy the plot takes a
twist. This movie is not the usual teen comedy in any way. These four students will soon realize
that they each have something in common. Each of the kids parents don t treat them fairly or don t
even notice them. It is ironic at first, because they think that they have figure each person out and
they know everything about them. But soon into the movie they quickly realize they are all too
similar. This movie takes place in a high school in Shermer, Illinois.

Death In Shakespeare s Romeo And Juliet
1.Shakespeare uses the image of the death in this particular scene to foreshadow the predicted
death of Romeo and Juliet. Hadst thou no poison mixed. No sharp ground knife this quotation
illustrates that Romeo and Juliet die from Poison and a knife, which we know as a audience
from the prologue. The use of dramatic irony makes the audience feel involved with the story
and makes us react more emotionally, as we can t aid the characters. In addition, the use of the
element of religion emphasizes Romeo s overwhelming love for Juliet. As he says Heaven is here
inferring that Romeo considers heaven as a place where Juliet lives. In reference to this scene, its

Shakespeare uses light references to present their passionate love towards each other such as o
she doth the torches to burn brighter which infers that Juliet s beauty outshines the torches that
light the party. As on the other hand, Shakespeare uses images of darkness to symbolizes the
negative aspects of their love. The use of dark image reminds the audience that it is a doomed
relationship because they are star crossed lovers . Furthermore, because their relationship is kept
as a secret, they can only be together when night s cloak to hide . Even though, a dark setting
portrays the romance but also implies that their relationship must stay hidden as their union is
heavily forbidden. There is a constant conflict between light and dark images. But Romeo and
Juliet s conversations are also full of images of angels, saints and gods My lips, two blushing
pilgrims, ready stand . These images could show that their love is pure and innocent and
approved by god. However, it can also emphasize their powerful love, as they don t only love
each other, but also worships each other. For a Shakespearean audience this could be seen as
dangerous and sinful as you weren t supposed to worship anyone except

Television And Politics
Since the creation of television, ideas and information have come into American homes influencing
the watcher for better or worse. This had lead to great influence on topics that have strong political

Child Soldiers Are Victims Of War
Bombings, gun fire, and screams, these are the major aspects of life children face in war waging
countries. Thrust into a war based on corporate greed, political interest, or religious disagreement,
these hopeful and helpless children face a dreadful future as many of them are brutally hurt,
physically and emotionally. Many times, these children witness their loved ones being murdered
right in front of their eyes. Though many would argue that soldiers are the victims of war, there are
a few who believe that helpless bystanders, meaning children, are the true victims of war. War
blackens the bright future these children would have had, leaving them mortally wounded, making
them child soldiers, and leaving them hungry. What causes war?... Show more content on

Whether you are businessman or a construction worker, war has some far reaching effect on us.
Though the evidence provided above is substantial enough to sway even you, the reader, to
believe children are the true victims of war, there are many who think soldiers are the victims.
Their logic can be backed up by many things. Modern media rarely covers anything else besides
soldiers fighting in war. News reporters capture soldiers, strapped up in military equipment,
fighting for their nation. Soldiers do directly take part in wars and they do get directly impacted
by it. They are the ones who are fighting and dying for their country. Soldiers look out for each
other in the battlefield. Many people argue that soldiers are the primary victims of war because
they suffer physically and psychologically after the war. There are many wounded veterans who
have received their physical scars from serving in the army. Soldiers will often face opposing
fire and bomb explosions. Those who are lucky make it out of war alive, those who aren t so
lucky die or get wounded. According to Robert Naiman, more than 500,000 Iraq and
Afghanistan veterans were treated for wounds and disabilities (Naiman, 2010). Half a million
veterans now face difficulties dealing with day to day tasks such as walking, driving, or working.
These former soldiers would now find it difficult to provide for their family and purchase their
bread and butter because they are now limited to the jobs they can perform. Along with physical
disabilities comes mental illnesses, such as PTSD. Post Traumatic Stress Disorder arises from
experiences from shocking or traumatic events. Those diagnosed with PTSD, are mostly soldiers
who have experienced unspeakable events during their service. This disorder causes diagnosed
people to experience enormous amounts of stress and may be frightened in some situations. PTSD
is a long term illness that has no permanent treatment.

Living with Kidney Disease
Living With Kidney Dialysis
There are two kidneys, each about the size of a fist, located on either side of the spine at the
lowest level of the rib cage in the human body. Each kidney contains up to a million functioning
units called nephrons (CJASN). A nephron consists of a filtering unit of tiny blood vessels called a
glomerulus attached to a tubule, is a general anatomical term referring to any portion of the tubule
of the nephron or of the collection duct system of the kidney (American Society of Nephrology).
More specifically referring to that part of the nephron distal to the renal corpuscle and glomerulus
and consisting of the proximal convoluted tubule. The loop of the nephron and the distal
convoluted tubule; these tubules are lined with a simple, usually cuboidal, epithelium and they use
a variety of passive and active transport mechanisms to modify the composition of the plasma
filtrate derived from the renal corpuscle and glomerulus converting it into urine. When blood
enters the glomerulus, it is filtered and the remaining fluid then passes along the tubule. In the
tubule, chemicals and water are either added to or removed from this filtered fluid according to
the body s needs, the final product being the urine we excrete (American Society of Nephrology).
Kidney disease can be triggered by many factors: diabetes, high blood pressure, congenital
abnormalities as well as genetics (National Kidney Foundation). Different ethnicities also have a

Good morning members of the high table, my colleagues in the industry and all other distinguished
guests. It is my greatest pleasure to present this paper at the Foreign Exchange seminar organized
by the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria. I hope I am able to shed light on this extremely
challenging topic.
Definition:

The Free funds market is also known as the Transfer or Convertible market: This market has been
promoted by the strict controls that exist in the official market and the transparency issue on duties.
It has been said that this market provides support for the management of the duty applied on goods
imported.
The forex for all prohibited goods brought into the country may also have this market as its source.
It is a widely held opinion that the substantial part of the supply to this market is sterilized official
funds.
Most foreign exchange earners (with low corporate/individual compliance commitments) supply
funds to this market because of its higher rates i.e. premium over the official sources and
confidentiality. The premium that obtains here is primarily due to the absence of documentation.
The Cash/Travelers cheque (TC) market: This is the easiest of the markets to access. It commands
the highest premium due to the speed and guarantee of delivery offered. The cash market is the
street market mostly found around the international airports, hotels and major markets. (In Lagos

Analysis Of The Boy In The Box
Out of all homicide cases in the US, about one third of them end up unsolved. The unfortunate
murder of The Boy In The Box is no exception. The spine chilling case of The Boy In The Box is
about the devastating death of a little boy found in Philidelphia and no one knows who or what
killed him. The mysterious deathleft many investigators baffled about who the boywas and how he
died. Many people from different places developed their own theories to conclude his death, but like
any other theories, there s always something that disproves them.
In February of 1957, a man came across a big box that contained what he thought was a doll, but
upon further inspection, he found out that he had actually discovered the body of a little boy. ...

The hat was made by Hannah Robbins who remembered the man because the cap was costume
made to have a leather strap and a buckle added. She described the man to be: blonde, between
the ages of 26 30. She said that he paid in cash and that she never saw him again. This lead to
detectives searching over 100 stores nearby but they eventually got nowhere. The next and last
clue about the poor boy s mysterious case was the box he was found in. The box was from a
JCPenny store 15 miles away. The investigators used the serial number on the box in which they
later traced down and found out that it had previously contained a bassinet. 12 boxes of the
bassinets were shipped but there was no record because since all 12 paid in cash. 8 out of the 12
people who bought the bassinets called to clarify that they had either thrown the box away or still
have it.
Apart from the clues given they still had one more mystery to solve and it was who the boy was.
Investigators still wanted to continue with the case so they kept the boy in a morgue. Many
people from 10 different stated came to look at the boy to see if he was a missing family member.
Unfortunately, nobody claimed him. Foot prints and fingerprints of the boy were taken and
compared to hospital records but nothing was found. 400,000 flyers of the boy were sent out and
even the AMA sent out a description but nothing came through. The fact that there is no proof that
the boy even existed led to many theories of who

The Anchoring Theory Of Lightness Perception

An analytical discussion on the Anchoring Theory of Lightness Perception

Abstract
The ability to perceive lightness is a key component in completing everyday tasks. However, due to
the variations in illumination and context, lightness perception theories fail to fully explain lightness
perception for all situations. The anchoring theory of lightness perception (Gilchrist et al., 1999)
successfully provides a theory that explains the accurate yet systematic inaccuracies of human
lightness perception under vast conditions (Murray,2013). These conditions are governed by
frameworks, which are groupings of surfaces that belong to each other more or less as determined
by 5 factors; Depth, Orientation, Penumbrae, Junctions and Grouping (Gilchrist et al, 1999).
However, as anchoring occurs independently within each framework, other theories have been
founded which suggest that the human visual system uses the Gestalt laws of perceptual grouping
to group regions into factions, known as frameworks, where all regions in the single framework are
expected to be illuminated uniformly (Bressan, 2006).

From deciding whether to clean the car to recognising a particular brand, lightness is a key aspect
in everyday life. Yet, the process of how humans perceive lightness cannot be understood solely by
one theory of lightness perception. Currently, The Anchoring Theory of

The Consequences Of Alcohol And Addiction
The first thing that comes to my mind when I think of alcohol is health problems and addiction.
The more Г person drinks the more they are going to want more alcohol, this is when people start
becoming addicted to drinking alcohol regularly. Alcohol addiction is Г serious mental health
problem , there are also other health problems that are linked to alcoholuse. The consequences of
drinking alcohol are bad and can lead to many negative things that not only affect your life but
everyone else around you. Alcohol dependence can occur after Г person has been drinking
recklessly time after time. Abusing alcohol can not only bring someone health problems to their
body but it can also affect their mental state, when Г person is intoxicated they do not think about
what they are doing and they make careless decisions that affect them and the people around
them. Alcohol can cause problems in relationships with people around you because when you are
intoxicated you do not act like yourself and you make decisions not thinking on about the

The Birth Of Jesus s Life
26. The Birth of Jesus
Jesus s birth into the human world was believed to be nothing short of a miracle. A holy baby
blessed by God himself and was birthed from a pregnant mother who kept her virginity and
never corrupting her purity for the sake of God. The mother who would bring Jesus into the
living world is Mary and her soon to be husband Joseph. In preparation for this event, an angel
appeared in his dream to calm his mind and to reassure that this pregnancy is a gift from God and
that he shouldn t be afraid to take Mary as his wife. And when Jesus was born, he would be
proclaimed to be the savior of mankind from their sins. During this time would also be
remembered as Christmas and on this day, to celebrate the birth of Jesus the Savior and god s gift
of his son to prove that he loves his creations enough to be determined to save them from sin.
27. The 12 Disciples
In the story of the 12 Disciples, Jesus s closest friends were known as this group of people. Their
names were Andrew who was once a disciple of John the Baptist, Bartholomew who was blessed
by Jesus as a Jew without guile, James the Elder and James the Younger were sons of Zebedee,
John who wrote the books of John and Revelation, Judas who would be known as the betrayer,
Jude is the brother of James the Younger and the author of the book of Jude, Matthew the tax

Communism s Effect on Technology
World War II began because of an invasion from Nazi Germany to Poland causing Britain to
declare war on Germany. During the fall of World War II and the beginning of the Cold War
, space
exploration was at the top of America s to do list. America was not the only country interested in
gaining answers about the solar system and its planets. There were many times during the Cold War
where the Soviet Union would have dramatic increases in science and technology. The Union of
Soviet Socialist Republics also known and the Soviet Union or USSR was a nation located in
Eastern Europe and Northwestern Asia and its capital was Moscow. The competition between the
United States and the USSR to see who could explore space by using artificial satellites and manned
spacecraft began after the launch of the first Soviet satellite. Even though the society of America
wanted to pursue the competition, President Eisenhower, however, did not want increase tensions.

‘a Family Can Be Defined as a Married Heterosexual...
A family can be defined as a married heterosexual couple and their children . How have social

Since there are lots of different perceptions or even conflicts on family life, the sociologist is
challenging greatly of the family (Cheal, D. 1991:1). The changes in family living and household
composition are mainly concerned as a contemporary core. (Jagger, G. and Wright, C. 1999:1).

Identify the functions of a CSU and DSU. How are they used in a corporate environment?
I like to think of a CSU/DSU(Channel service and Data service unit) as something similar to a
modem. In general Dial up or DSL service a modem is required to convert digital signals to analog
and vice versa. A CSU/DSU acts in the same way. The CSU/DSU converts the digitaldata frames
that local area networks (LAN) uses into a frame a wide area network (WAN) uses and just like the
modem it will change the frames back to go the other direction across the network.
Within the cooperate environment CSU/DSU are very useful. Most large corporations have moved

ISDN also has the ability to lower the internet speed when an incoming call comes in to ensure the
quality of the call is unaffected by you surfing at the same time. Finally with ISDN telephone calls
actually become clearer then use of just the telephone line. This is due to the fact that the ISDN

What are some of the greatest security risks to a WAN? Provide an example of one risk and

In my opinion the biggest security risk in a WAN is something that no one really ever thinks
about and is the one exploited more then all of the other risks combined. That risk is the user.
The user on the network is the greatest risk a network could undergo. I have always been told in
my security department that your network is only as safe as the weakest user on the network.
The user is the easiest part of the network to exploit because it is easier to trick a person then it is

Mexican Immigrants And Mexican Immigration
The topic of Mexican immigration recently made headlines again when republican presidential
candidate Donald Trump released a 3 page statement detailing his blunt beliefs on Mexican
immigrants. Trump s blunt statements against Mexican immigration have led many to join the
discussion of Mexican immigration. The views on the issue vary, some believe that Mexicans are
the route to all of America s unemployment trouble while others believe Mexican s simply take
jobs American s refuse to take. Either way, there are nearly twenty four million people of Mexican
decent living in the United Statesthat have started their own communities which contribute to
American society. Many American s however, refuse to accept this and are still prosecuting
Mexican s. This can be seen in the media, public schools, and in the work place. Mexican s are
often labeled in American media to be uneducated laborers who do nothing to contribute to the
growth of society. The reality is however, that these Mexican laborers who are faced with these
preconceptions have contributed a lot to American society as can be seen in the novel Latino in
America by Soledad O Brien. This novel highlights the injustices Mexican s face due to the
medias view on them. In this novel Luis Ramirez, a resident of Shenandoah Pennsylvania, is

which are representing more than one national origin, race, gender, sexual orientation, disability,
religion, beliefs, and age which create a diverse workforce environment were some feels valued at
all costs and was skill sets are being used to develop goals within the organisation. The benefits
attracting and retaining a diverse workforce are as follows: Better Productivity Employing
employees from a more diverse culture, a background can bring more talent and new ideas within
processes to increase the organisation to an advantage to make it more productive which could be

For example: if they employed a fluent Chinese individual, they would understand the Chinese

This would increase sale profit within the organisation. Positive Reputation Individual that is

San Diego metropolitan area (La Jolla, Del Mar and Encinitas) and plans to add more stores soon

customers, the firm is developing a system to track customer purchase behavior over time.
Basically KFF is wasting recourses creating one more stand alone module that is not integrated in
enterprise wide inventory system. It would be more cost efficient for Kudler to do some
customization of inventory management to obtain information about customer behavior. Company
s web site doesn t provide customers with an opportunity to place online orders. The company
would benefit from installing e commerce software and connecting it to merchandise database. It
would be beneficial for Kudler to run a blog on company s web site where customers can give a
feedback and learn about in store events, cooking classes, gourmet recipes, etc.
Revenue management POS system in every store provides daily sales report. This report is a

Organizational Structure Of A Corporation
Appex Corporation
When Ghosh joined Appex, he walked into a company full of chaos with no definable structure.
The rapidly growing company was ill equipped to manage its growth at the rate it was expanding.
There were no formal policies or structures in place to manage this exponential growth. As the
number of products increased the lack of structure became more pronounced. The work became
mostly crisis management, leading to a decline in customer focus and production. Additionally,
finances were not managed with any planning or structure causing Appex to lose money rapidly.
Ghosh, eager to test his skills, attempted several organizational structures to stabilize Appex.
Circular Structure
Circular structure is a nonhierarchical organization structure with the senior executives in the
center. The circle centers on the executives, followed by the managers, then employees, and then
the customers. Ghosh used this system as an attempt to create a continuous flow of information
through the organization. One problem identified was that current employees could not relate and
new hires did not understand. New hires looked for a hierarchical structure to understand the flow
of power for decisions and their performance evaluation but were unable to identify such within this
organizational structure. Additionally, this structure did not formalize any type of business planning.
Horizontal structure The horizontal structure is the traditional vertical organizational structure

How To Eat In Ancient Ghana How to eat in ancient Ghana. The Ancient Ghana civilization lasted
from about 300 1200 A.D.. The Ancient country lies in Western Africa where the modern
countries of Mali, Mauritania, and Senegal are today (Kingdom of Ghana). The people of Ghana
ate what they could provide by farming. They farmed crops such as corn and rice. The Niger river
,which cut across ancient Ghana, flooded like the Nile during the rainy season bringing water and
nutrients to their fields (Social Aspects of Ancient Ghana) . They raised animals such as Goats,
chickens, and sheep to eat. The people mostly ate several different types of soup with fufu, plantain,
bread, rice, and potatoes. The soups were nut based with different meats such as fish, mutton, goat,
or chicken added (Ancient Ghana Environment). Fufu is the african equivalent to mashed potatoes.
It normally accompanies soup or a meat with gravy. Fufu is rolled up into balls then a indenture is
made. It is then used to scoop up soup or gravy. In Central Africa Fufu is made out of cassava
tubers (Fufu). Cassava tubers are starchy roots from the spurge family (Euphorbiaceae) of plants
(Cassava Nutrition Facts and Health Benefits). In West Africa ,where Ghana was located, Fufu was
made out of yams. Yams are tubers root vegetables native to Africa... Show more content on

Why I Chose Mexico Research Paper
There are many options to think about when choosing a global career. One that interests me
would be my home country of Mexico. Even though I was born there I was raised in the United
States my whole life. It would be nice to explore my roots beyond the small amount of visiting I

politics and how the person with higher power will do as he pleases even if it goes against ethics.
The business practices for wanting to think ahead are unpleasant thoughts for businesses in

The Crucible Critical Analysis
The English philosopher, Sir Francis Bacon, once wrote, Reading maketh a full man; conference
a ready man; and writing an exact man . Bacon expresses three ideas about how processing
literature affects an individual. To explain, reading fills one s mind with knowledge and ideas,
talking about those ideas makes one adaptable to differences in others, and writing forces one is
define one s beliefs and opinions. In room 303, Bacon s three statements are practiced regularly,
as students read and annotate out of the hymnals, discuss major texts in class, and write essays
each week over the material. During the last semester alone the Junior Honors English class read
several texts by American Authors from the ancient oral cosmogonist myths of Native Americans
to the Feminist literature of the 1890 s. In the entire range of different texts read, three specific
texts were the most important in room 303. The Crucible by Arthur Miller makes one reflect on
one s morals as the play unfolds. The 1953 play revolves around the town of puritan Salemand the
actual people and events of the famous Salem witch trials. Arthur Miller wrote The Crucible in
the height of the Red Scare, and his play reveals the mass hysteria and paranoia which plagued
America at the time. Many of the innocent people accused in both Salem and in the 1950 s faced
not only a biased court, but a questioning of morality as the choice often was oneself gets jacked

Influence Processes: A Leadership Analysis
Leadership Ethics for Managers
June 1, 2008 Abstract
A leader s ability to influence and motivate followers is a crucial skill that effective leaders must
possess. This is why organizations allow leaders to control many of the operational functions of the
organization. By controlling several key operational components, the leader is able to direct and
institute change throughout the organization. The purpose of this paper is to analyze leader
influence models and present the practical implications of their use. Influence Processes: A

By having control over the organizations reward system, the leader can mold the organization into
one that conforms and promotes their organizational vision. Used correctly, this form of leadership
influence can effectively change an organization over time by rewarding those who buy into and
promote the leaders style of leadership.
Promoting and Selecting Leaders: In addition to the above influence factors, leaders also are
empowered to select and promote the leadership within the organization (Nahavandi, 2006). This
provides them with a powerful tool to influence and effectively create an organizational following
of their values and vision. By selecting leaders who mirror their values and leadership style, the
leader is able to create a loyal and like minded leadership staff. While this may be an effective
influence tool, the leader risks alienating key personnel and breeding doubts about their ability to
lead if they utilize this form of influence in an unethical manner.
Modeling Behaviors:
Finally, leaders can also use their influence to model the behavior of their subordinates (Nahavandi,
2006). They achieve this by providing guidance and advise to their followers and by inviting others
to participate in organizational team building activities. When leaders actively promote and
encourage their followers to follow their examples they are effectively molding the future behaviors

E Learning Systems Improve Employee Engagement
Today s way of training the workforce and providing employee engagement seems to be moving on
the high speed train of technology. With the consist demand of reducing expenditures and
increasing profit, businesses are needing to look at different ways to yield green on their bottom
line. Many businesses are looking at e learningsystems to enhance employee training and
engagement. E learning generally refers to the use of computer network technology, primarily
over an intranet or through the Internet, to deliver information and instruction to individuals (Lee,
Hsieh Chen, 2013). Does the high cost of electronic learning or virtual classrooms really hold up
to the hype? E learning, or online learning, systems are becoming vital within the workforce
today, and will continue to grow as technology advances; as a result, its success depends on how
employers and human resources staff support their employees and the use of e learning systems.
How a system is developed, implemented, and accepted will impact the overall success of any
transition to an e learning system, and also whether or not learning goals are met by both the
employer and employee.
Development of an e learning training system does not happen at the flip of a switch. Take for
instance Laura Hackett of MillerCoors University (Harris, 2015). Hackett was a veteran employee
and vice president at Miller Brewing Company when her CEO approached her with the instruction
to, not only lead, but to create a new department

Analysis Of Sister Aloysius And James
Sisters Aloysius and James as Representatives of Social Duality The play Doubt: A Parable by
John Patrick Shanley was first staged at the Manhattan Theatre Club in 2004 and won the
Pulitzer Prize the next year. In the play, the author touches upon a set of urgent social topics,
such as pedophilia, abuse, faith, and moral considerations. Also, the author dwells upon a
controversial image of a nun with the example of two main female characters of the play, Sister
Aloysius, and Sister James: though having dedicated their lives to the same goal, these women
are entirely different in their experiences, characters, and moral considerations. First, the sisters
have different life experiences and social backgrounds. Sister Aloysius is a middle aged woman,
who was married, but after her husband died in the war against Adolph Hitler (Shanley 1525)
she decided to dedicate her life to God. Being an experienced teacher, Sister Aloysius is chosen
to be the principal of the St. Nicolas School and she successfully holds the position for many
years. During her long life, she witnesses war, death, and many terrible deeds committed by
people. All this makes her believe less of her heart and more of her mind. As for Sister James, the
innocent soul (Cullingford 256) , she is very young and has just started her path as a nun and a
teacher. The lack of experience makes her search for new approaches to teaching, which are strange
and unacceptable for the principal. As a result, the

murdering innocent people cannot be justified. The most vicious of these killings is the murder of

A Good Candidate For A Total Knee Replacement
There are several factors that go into considering if you may be a good candidate for a Total Knee
Replacement. One of the most common causes could be due to all forms of arthritis; such as
osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, and even post traumatic arthritis. Osteoarthritis is the most
common reason for needing a Total KneeReplacement. Arthritis can severely damage an
individual s knee, causing massive pain. However, the first approach is trying the nonsurgical
treatments first. Medications and even using walking supports are usually the first approach
before considering surgery. When these methods fail to work the very next step is for surgery.
Total Knee Replacements are the most successful procedures in all of medicine, accounting for
600,000 knee replacements each year in the US. The knee is the largest joint in the body, which is
why it s very important to have healthy knees in order to get around to perform daily activities. The

Should specialized organization be made for workers who wish to have a career and raise a child?
Identify steps that companies can take to accommodate parental needs more effectively.
In 2013, 88.2 percent of families with children under 18 had at least one parent in the workforce,

Studies in Emotional Intelligence
There is a growing interest in the concept of emotional intelligence, and with that growth is a gap
between what we know and what we need to know. In the article, Emotional Intelligence: Issues and
Common Misunderstandings, Robert J. Emmerling and Daniel Goleman inquire as to what
emotional intelligence is, how it differs from other established constructs within psychology,
whether or not it can be developed, whether or not it can be a better predictor of work performance
than traditional measures of intelligence, whether or not it should be measured at all, and how it
relates to ethics.

The first major theory in the emotional intelligence paradigm was that of Bar On and it was
developed in 1988. In his theory he coined the term emotional quotient (EQ). His model is
defined by a selection of abilities and traits related to social and emotional knowledge that
influence our ability to cope with environmental demands. It can be viewed as a model of
psychological adaptation and well being. The Bar On model includes the abilities to be aware of,
understand, and express oneself, to be aware of, understand and relate to others, to deal with
strong emotions and control one s impulses, and to adapt to change and solve problems of a social
or personal nature. It deals with general mood, stress management, adaptability, interpersonal
skills, and intrapersonal skills. EQ provides a reliable and valid estimate of an individuals ability to
cope with everyday demands and pressures.
In 1997, Mayer and Salovey developed a theory of emotional intelligence and instruments to
measure it because traditional measures of intelligence failed to measure differences in the ability
to perceive, process, and manage emotions. Their theory is defined by the ability to regulate
emotions to promote emotional and intellectual growth, understand emotions and emotional

Chinese Parents Are More Successful Than Western Parents
On January 8, 2011, the Wall Street Journal published an article by Amy Chua called Why Chinese
Mothers Are Superior. In this article Chua argues that Chinese parents are more successful than
Western parents when it comes to academics and musical talent. In addition, she discusses three
differences between the two parental mindsets. First, western parents worry too much about their
children s self esteem. Second, Chinese parents believe their children owe them everything because
they brought them in this world. Third, Chinese parents believe they know what is best for their
children. Even though their mindsets are different, Chua believes that all decent parents want to do
what is best for their children. (Chua) From a Westerners perspective, the Chinese s harsh parenting
methods increases academic success and self esteem; however, their methods damage social skills.
Amy Chua s methods focus heavily on academic excellence. She enforces these methods by using
extremely strict discipline, involving insults, punishment, and threats. These methods appear harsh;
however, they are successful. In her article, she states Western parents will praise their childwhen
they receive an A or even a B, while Chinese parents become instantly angry if it is not an A. In
fact, Chinese mothers will do everything they can to improve their child s grade because they know
they are smarter than producing anything lower than an A. Parents do not realize telling children

transmission circuits is becoming difficult because of environmental economic reasons. So, power
utilities are forced to depend on utilization of existing generating units and to load existing lines
close to their heating limits.
In 1980s the Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI) has introduced a new technology program
known as Flexible AC Transmission System (FATCS).
Idea of program was to increase controllability and optimization of utilization ... Show more content

The current has larger values for lower and higher values of excitation. In between, the current has
minimum value corresponding to a particular excitation. The variations of I with excitation are
known as V curves.
For the same mechanical load, the armature current varies with field excitation over a wide range.
When over excited, the motor supplies vars to the grid and when under excited it absorbs vars from
the grid.
Disadvantages of Sync Condensers:
Considerable losses in the motor.
Maintenance cost is high due to rotating component.
At low power rating the cost is high compared to static capacitors method.
As the synchronous equipment is not self starting, so extra excitation equipment is needed for that
purpose.
Hence we opt to use the SVCS instead of Synchronous Condensers.

Nuclear Decay And Nuclear Energy
Nuclear power is the use of nuclear reactors to release nuclear energy, and thereby generate
electricity. The term includes nuclear fission, nuclear decay and nuclear fusion. Presently, the
nuclear fission of elements in the actinide series of the periodic table produce the vast majority of
nuclear energy in the direct service of humankind, with nuclear decay processes, primarily in the
form of geothermal energy, and radioisotope thermoelectric generators, in niche uses making up
the rest. Nuclear power stations, excluding the contribution from naval nuclear fission reactors,
provided 13% of the world s electricity in 2012. The share of the world s primary energy supply,
which refers to the heat production without the conversion efficiency of about 33%, was about
5.7%. Its share of the global final energy consumption is below 2.5%.
In 2013, the IAEA report that there are 437 operational nuclear power reactors, in 31 countries,
although not every reactor is producing electricity. In addition, there are approximately 140 naval
vessels using nuclear propulsion in operation, powered by some 180 reactors. As of 2013, attaining
a net energy gain from sustained nuclear fusion reactions, excluding natural fusion power sources
such as the Sun, remains an ongoing area of international physics and engineering research. More
than 60 years after the first attempts, commercial fusion power production remains unlikely before
2050.
There is an ongoing debate about nuclear power.

The Importance Of Real Property
Statutory deferral when real property is transferred to a corporation with FMV higher than the tax
basis.
The law provides three exceptions where the transfer of Real property to a corporation with market
value higher than the basis is not taxable; 1. The transferor owns more than 80% of voting stock of
the corporation immediately after the transfer 2. The transferor and a group, simultaneously
transfer real property to a corporation and own more than 80% of the corporate voting stock
immediately after the transfer. 3. The transferor already owns 80% voting stock of the corporation
and any additional transfers do not trigger gain. The above transfers only deferred the gain but did
not exempt it, pursuant to В§ 351. Corporation takes ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
IRC В§ 721, which dictates transfer of property to partnership, is comparable to В§351 except it
does not have an 80% or more ownership constraint, you could own 1% of partnership interest the
transfer would still be tax free. In addition, basis rules are like corporate rules upon transfer. The
similarity ends from this point forward, in cases where property is subject to liability, the partner
would adjust its basis in the partnership. Gain, if triggered due to partner s liability decrease,
termed deemed distribution, recognition of this gain could be circumvented by adjusting the
transferor s outside basis, hence no recognition of gain either by the partnership or the partner. In
case of liquidating or non liquidating distribution interplay of sections in partnership law avoids the
recognition of gain, and in both cases basis is adjusted instead. Gain is only triggered when the
transferor sells property received in both liquidating and non liquidating scenarios.

Argumentative Essay On Illegal Immigrants
Franklin D. Roosevelt, an American president, has Dutch ancestry in his life. Anybody who comes
to America are from different cultural backgrounds; every family arrives in the United States to
make something of themselves. Families are getting ripped apart as they are being deported back
to their homeland, and leaving the life they built behind. A great deal of diverse families who travel
to the United States; are deprived of their American dream because of fear of deportation. Illegal
immigrants should be granted amnesty because Immigrants are taking jobs many Americans do not
want, they are taken advantage of for not having legal documents, and they are not secured by
fundamental living rights.
Hundreds and millions of illegal immigrants are a big part of the workforce in America.
Plumbers, Electricians, and Landscapers are a variety of professions illegal immigrants do in
order to put food on the table. More than others are astounded by the amount of jobs that are open
because no one is willing to work them. Jobs are not secured for many diverse immigrants, some
are occupied by people who are more advantaged than others in regards of experience and street
smarts. Illegal Immigrants ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

comply with paying the right salary. This shows that immigrants are taken advantage of by their
employer. Not to mention, the fear of deportation, many jobs are ransacked by government
officials at any time for hiring illegal immigrants. As a result of this, immigrants are forced to flee
in search of a new workplace. Immigrants suffer financially through having unstable jobs and
sending money back to their homeland. Considering this, large amounts of immigrants are being
deprived of the correct salary and should be granted

Personal Experience In Life In My Life Of Swaminarayanism
I have been a follower of Swaminarayanism for all seventeen years of my life, but during my
childhood, temple and religion were just a Sunday obligation. My parents would encourage me
to attend the weekly sabhas (assemblies) held at the temple, but I would often refuse because I
was scared and shy. I followed Swaminarayanism solely because my parents followed it, and for
that reason was very uninterested in the culture and religious values. As I grew older, I came to
the realization there were many fruits of Swaminarayanism, and that temple was one place to
take refuge even when everything in the world was going wrong. It opened many new
opportunities for me. I started to volunteer at the mandir by helping young children learn all that
is good in life through the values of religion. I created a bond between the kids and
Swaminarayanism, and although I was not a firm believer at their age, I wanted to make sure
that they had that connection and conviction to god and to Pramukh Swami Maharaj.
Swaminarayanism has taught me to help others and appreciate the things I have. I dream of
becoming a doctor because it will help me live by Pramukh Swami Maharaj s motto: In the Joy
of Others Lies Our Own. Being a successful doctor and helping out the less fortunate is one of the
best feelings in the world, and Swaminarayanism has instilled these values within me. I want to be
a part of the Doctors Without Borders organization so I am able to serve the unfortunate people
across seas.

Perception In Heartbeat
Do you think perception is reality? I do not think perception is reality. A lot of people perceive
things that are not reality. Almost everyone sometimes perceives different things. Everyone has
their own way of perceiving things and there are a lot of people in the world. I think perception
is not reality. In sorry wrong number, she hears there is going to be a murder. They say the
murder is happening on her street and the person lives right by a train and so does she. She
perceives there is going to be a murder but does not realize she is going to be murdered. She is just
perceiving it to be a murder of some random person because she doesn t want to face reality and
realize she is going to be murdered. In Heartbeat, Brian thinks people

Oh Ms Believer Analysis
Some people listen to songs because they like the how the song sounds to them, and completely
ignore the lyrics, while others listen to the lyrics of the song, rather than simply hearing the
catchy beat. In Oh Ms Believer by Twenty One Pilots, someone is trying to help his or her loved
one through the complications of depression. There are many different hidden meanings in the
lyrics of the song Oh Ms Believer , such as in the lyrics Oh, Miss Believer, my pretty sleeper
/Your twisted mind is like snow on the road (1 2). The song opens with a simile that means her
thoughts cover up who she truly is, or that her thoughts could be dangerous, perhaps life
threatening, because when snow covers a road it becomes hidden, slippery, and dangerous to
drive on. Another part of the song s lyrics Your shaking shoulders prove that it s colder/Inside
your head than the winter of dead (3 4), show that the subject in the song is probably crying
because her shoulders are shaking, and also that her thoughts are depressing and likely dangerous.
The entire song relies heavily on the idea of cold, such as winter and snow, for in the lyrics of the...

thoughts are like snow on the rooftops (15 16), represents that the woman s thoughts are weighing
her down and hiding who she truly is. This song focuses on depression and how it warps one s

Bohnhorst wrote her essay in 2005, when computers were still an essential in every day life; it was only ten years ago. Technology has evolved quite a bit, but I can still remember sitting in my freshman high schoolclasses, with multiple computers in every classroom, there to assist us with research, media, and learningprograms. Thrust into a war based on corporate greed, political interest, or religious disagreement, these hopeful and helpless children face a dreadful future as many of them are brutally hurt, physically and emotionally. Many times, these children witness their loved ones being murdered right in front of their eyes. Though many would argue that soldiers are the victims of war, there are a few who believe that helpless bystanders, meaning children, are the true victims of war. War blackens the bright future these children would have had, leaving them mortally wounded, making them child soldiers, and leaving them hungry. What causes war?... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Whether you are businessman or a construction worker, war has some far reaching effect on us. Though the evidence provided above is substantial enough to sway even you, the reader, to believe children are the true victims of war, there are many who think soldiers are the victims. Their logic can be backed up by many things. Modern media rarely covers anything else besides soldiers fighting in war. News reporters capture soldiers, strapped up in military equipment, fighting for their nation. Soldiers do directly take part in wars and they do get directly impacted by it. They are the ones who are fighting and dying for their country. Soldiers look out for each other in the battlefield. Many people argue that soldiers are the primary victims of war because they suffer physically and psychologically after the war. There are many wounded veterans who have received their physical scars from serving in the army. Soldiers will often face opposing fire and bomb explosions. Those who are lucky make it out of war alive, those who aren t so lucky die or get wounded. According to Robert Naiman, more than 500,000 Iraq and Afghanistan veterans were treated for wounds and disabilities (Naiman, 2010). Half a million veterans now face difficulties dealing with day to day tasks such as walking, driving, or working. These former soldiers would now find it difficult to provide for their family and purchase their bread and butter because they are now limited to the jobs they can perform. Along with physical disabilities comes mental illnesses, such as PTSD. Post Traumatic Stress Disorder arises from experiences from shocking or traumatic events. Those diagnosed with PTSD, are mostly soldiers who have experienced unspeakable events during their service. Living with Kidney Disease Living With Kidney Dialysis There are two kidneys, each about the size of a fist, located on either side of the spine at the lowest level of the rib cage in the human body. Each kidney contains up to a million functioning units called nephrons (CJASN). A nephron consists of a filtering unit of tiny blood vessels called a glomerulus attached to a tubule, is a general anatomical term referring to any portion of the tubule of the nephron or of the collection duct system of the kidney (American Society of Nephrology). More specifically referring to that part of the nephron distal to the renal corpuscle and glomerulus and consisting of the proximal convoluted tubule. The loop of the nephron and the distal convoluted tubule; these tubules are lined with a simple, usually cuboidal, epithelium and they use a variety of passive and active transport mechanisms to modify the composition of the plasma filtrate derived from the renal corpuscle and glomerulus converting it into urine. When blood enters the glomerulus, it is filtered and the remaining fluid then passes along the tubule. In the tubule, chemicals and water are either added to or removed from this filtered fluid according to the body s needs, the final product being the urine we excrete (American Society of Nephrology). The Free funds market is also known as the Transfer or Convertible market: This market has been promoted by the strict controls that exist in the official market and the transparency issue on duties. It has been said that this market provides support for the management of the duty applied on goods imported. The forex for all prohibited goods brought into the country may also have this market as its source. It is a widely held opinion that the substantial part of the supply to this market is sterilized official funds. Most foreign exchange earners (with low corporate/individual compliance commitments) supply funds to this market because of its higher rates i.e. premium over the official sources and confidentiality. The premium that obtains here is primarily due to the absence of documentation. The Cash/Travelers cheque (TC) market: This is the easiest of the markets to access. It commands the highest premium due to the speed and guarantee of delivery offered. The cash market is the street market mostly found around the international airports, hotels and major markets. This lead to detectives searching over 100 stores nearby but they eventually got nowhere. The next and last clue about the poor boy s mysterious case was the box he was found in. The box was from a JCPenny store 15 miles away. The investigators used the serial number on the box in which they later traced down and found out that it had previously contained a bassinet. 12 boxes of the bassinets were shipped but there was no record because since all 12 paid in cash. 8 out of the 12 people who bought the bassinets called to clarify that they had either thrown the box away or still have it. Apart from the clues given they still had one more mystery to solve and it was who the boy was. Investigators still wanted to continue with the case so they kept the boy in a morgue. Many people from 10 different stated came to look at the boy to see if he was a missing family member. Unfortunately, nobody claimed him. Foot prints and fingerprints of the boy were taken and compared to hospital records but nothing was found. 400,000 flyers of the boy were sent out and even the AMA sent out a description but nothing came through. • 11. The Anchoring Theory Of Lightness Perception Word count: 1613 An analytical discussion on the Anchoring Theory of Lightness Perception Gilchrist et al. (1999) Isabel Villafuerte 695563 Melbourne University Abstract The ability to perceive lightness is a key component in completing everyday tasks. However, due to the variations in illumination and context, lightness perception theories fail to fully explain lightness perception for all situations. The anchoring theory of lightness perception (Gilchrist et al., 1999) successfully provides a theory that explains the accurate yet systematic inaccuracies of human lightness perception under vast conditions (Murray,2013). These conditions are governed by frameworks, which are groupings of surfaces that belong to each other more or less as determined by 5 factors; Depth, Orientation, Penumbrae, Junctions and Grouping (Gilchrist et al, 1999). However, as anchoring occurs independently within each framework, other theories have been founded which suggest that the human visual system uses the Gestalt laws of perceptual grouping to group regions into factions, known as frameworks, where all regions in the single framework are expected to be illuminated uniformly (Bressan, 2006). (Words 154) From deciding whether to clean the car to recognising a particular brand, lightness is a key aspect in everyday life. Yet, the process of how humans perceive lightness cannot be understood solely by one theory of lightness perception. Currently, The Anchoring Theory of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

By controlling several key operational components, the leader is able to direct and institute change throughout the organization. The purpose of this paper is to analyze leader influence models and present the practical implications of their use. By having control over the organizations reward system, the leader can mold the organization into one that conforms and promotes their organizational vision. Used correctly, this form of leadership influence can effectively change an organization over time by rewarding those who buy into and promote the leaders style of leadership. Promoting and Selecting Leaders: In addition to the above influence factors, leaders also are empowered to select and promote the leadership within the organization (Nahavandi, 2006). This provides them with a powerful tool to influence and effectively create an organizational following of their values and vision. By selecting leaders who mirror their values and leadership style, the leader is able to create a loyal and like minded leadership staff. While this may be an effective influence tool, the leader risks alienating key personnel and breeding doubts about their ability to lead if they utilize this form of influence in an unethical manner. Modeling Behaviors: Finally, leaders can also use their influence to model the behavior of their subordinates (Nahavandi, 2006). They achieve this by providing guidance and advise to their followers and by inviting others to participate in organizational team building activities. When leaders actively promote and encourage their followers to follow their examples they are effectively molding the future behaviors of their ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Many businesses are looking at e learningsystems to enhance employee training and engagement. Does the high cost of electronic learning or virtual classrooms really hold up to the hype? E learning, or online learning, systems are becoming vital within the workforce today, and will continue to grow as technology advances; as a result, its success depends on how employers and human resources staff support their employees and the use of e learning systems. How a system is developed, implemented, and accepted will impact the overall success of any transition to an e learning system, and also whether or not learning goals are met by both the employer and employee. Development of an e learning training system does not happen at the flip of a switch. Take for instance Laura Hackett of MillerCoors University (Harris, 2015). • 33. Analysis Of Sister Aloysius And James Sisters Aloysius and James as Representatives of Social Duality The play Doubt: A Parable by John Patrick Shanley was first staged at the Manhattan Theatre Club in 2004 and won the Pulitzer Prize the next year. In the play, the author touches upon a set of urgent social topics, such as pedophilia, abuse, faith, and moral considerations. Also, the author dwells upon a controversial image of a nun with the example of two main female characters of the play, Sister Aloysius, and Sister James: though having dedicated their lives to the same goal, these women are entirely different in their experiences, characters, and moral considerations. First, the sisters have different life experiences and social backgrounds. Sister Aloysius is a middle aged woman, who was married, but after her husband died in the war against Adolph Hitler (Shanley 1525) she decided to dedicate her life to God. Being an experienced teacher, Sister Aloysius is chosen to be the principal of the St. Nicolas School and she successfully holds the position for many years. During her long life, she witnesses war, death, and many terrible deeds committed by people. All this makes her believe less of her heart and more of her mind. As for Sister James, the innocent soul (Cullingford 256) , she is very young and has just started her path as a nun and a teacher. The lack of experience makes her search for new approaches to teaching, which are strange and unacceptable for the principal. As a result, the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In this article Chua argues that Chinese parents are more successful than Western parents when it comes to academics and musical talent. In addition, she discusses three differences between the two parental mindsets. First, western parents worry too much about their children s self esteem. Second, Chinese parents believe their children owe them everything because they brought them in this world. Third, Chinese parents believe they know what is best for their children. Even though their mindsets are different, Chua believes that all decent parents want to do what is best for their children.
