On 29 July 1958, President Dwight D. Eisenhower signed the National Aeronautics and Space Act,
creating the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), which became operational
on 1 October of that year. Over the next 50 years, NASA achieved a set of spectacular feats,
ranging from advancing the well established field of aeronautics to pioneering the new fields of
Earth and space science and human spaceflight. In the midst of the geopolitical context of the Cold
War, 12 Americans walked on the Moon, arriving in peace for all mankind. Humans saw their
home planet from a new perspective, with unforgettable Apollo images of Earthrise and the Blue
Marble, as well as the pale blue dot from the edge of the solar system. A flotilla of spacecraft has

6. The Curious Incident Of The Dog
To write a good mystery novel takes time and only a few authors have been successful in writing
them. Mystery novels has been around for a period of time with historical authors such as Arthur
Conan Doyle and recent author Stephen King. In these novels, clues are provided by the author and
Christopher Boone, narrator of the novelThe Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night time, states,
If it is a good puzzle you can sometimes work out the answer before the end of the book (5). In
relation to this, the most valuable information is typically gained throughout the process of the
investigation rather than the solution itself. Although the book The Curious Incident of the Dog in
the Night time is not classified as a detective story, the plot still goes through an investigation and
shares elements of a mystery novel. The mystery within the story that keeps the novel going is to
find the killer of Mrs. Shears poodle, Wellington, and in turn, shapes the ending where the audience
sees the development of the protagonist, Christopher, through the investigation itself, the journey to
London and his overall ability as a writer.
The novel begins with Christopher stumbling upon the dead dog, Wellington, and gets accused as
the killer. If this occurrence did not happen, then Christopher would not have wanted to find the
real killer since death is never a drawback for him. In fact, Christopher views death as an inevitable
event, so whoever killed Wellington does not pertain to him

Effects of Continuous vs Partial Reinforcement on Reinstatement induced Relapse in Operant
Behaviour Mona Nourozi PSYCH203 University of Auckland Effects of continuous vs partial
reinforcement on reinstatement induced relapse in operant behaviour Research on behavioural
momentum theory has provided a theoretical framework for understanding the effects of extinction
and amount of relapse in relation to different conditional experiments (Nevin Shahan, 2011). WHAT
IS BEHAVIOURAL MOMENTUM THEORY This research is not only inherently interesting in
pure theory, but also in clinical practise and intervention and for that reason is important. Upon
further investigation of these concepts and how they interact with one another, we can discover
new connections and ultimately attempt to control or affect the results of such interactions.
Previous experiments have demonstrated that the resistance of operant behaviour depends on the
rate of reinforcement that is associated with that specific stimulus (Podlesnik Shahan, 2009). A
general finding that Nevin (as cited in Podlesnik Shahan, 2009) explores in this area is that the
higher the rate of reinforcement, the more resistant the response is to change. The more resistant a
response is, the more difficult it is to extinguish (Thrailkil Shahan, 2012). However, results from
other experiments are in conflict with what we would expect from this theory. The partial
reinforcement extinction effect has shown that

9. Emma s Self Propelled Downfall
Emma s Self propelled Downfall Gustave Flaubert s Madame Bovary, is the story of Emma, a
naГЇve girl who dreams of having a life, bigger than the one she can ever achieve. Flaubert
throughout the story depicts average members of society with all their faults. Greed, lust, deceit,
and incompetence are the stock in trade of all his characters. The story has no heroes, only losers
and fools who waste their unfulfilled lives. Emma schooled in a convent is desperate to feel the
excitement of real love as she imagines it to be. Emma is married to Charles Bovary, the first man
she ever really knows. Charles is the classic underachiever whose shortcomings plague Emma
throughout their marriage. Charles will never have the position, money, success, or class status
she so desperately desires. Marriage, a child, and respectability cannot assuage her
disappointment in herself and her life. She finds solace and excitement in things she cannot
afford and men she cannot resist. Emma has no one to blame but herself for all her failings. Her
ego and sense of entitlement overrides her common sense and allows her to borrow money that
she will never be able to repay. Like an addict without self control, she continues borrow money
and have affairs that never really satisfy her. She hates herself for her deceptions and constantly
fears exposure. Her life becomes a downward spiral of lies and shame that eventually ends in the

If there is someone that has impacted an individual s life, then suddenly they pass away out of the
blue, it can do an immense amount of damage to ones thoughts and feelings. In the song One Man
Can Change The World by Big Sean featuring John Legend and Kanye West it talks about Big
Sean s grandma impact on his life and everything she did for him and his family as a whole. The
artist big Sean otherwise known as Sean Anderson was born in Santa Monica, California but was

his grandmother, she taught him how to drive and be a man. ... She taught me how to drive and
she raised the kids, then the kids kids, and she did it right taught me how to love, taught me not
to cry (Sean 52 54). In this line he states that she taught him how to be a man and took care of
him growing up, keeping him on the right track and staying out of trouble. Big Sean also used a
lot of imagery in his song. Talking about his grandmas achievements he states ...But how am I
supposed to say I m tired if that girl from West Virginia came up in conditions that I couldn t
survive; went to war, came back alive? On top of that became a female black captain when being
black you had to extra extra try (Sean 45 49). Big Sean was very proud of his grandma because she
became a female black captain back when females were just being allowed in the military and
there was still a very serious racism problem. In his lyrics you can see the struggle to get what
she accomplished in the times that she did it. As the reader may now see how close Sean and his
grandmother were together realize how tough of a loss it was and how people can

13. What Are The Reasons For The Age Of Exploration
The Age of Exploration and Conquests of the New World began in the 15th century by Columbus.
He was a Spanish explorer who went on the journey to seek for the Indies, but eventually ended up
in the Caribbean islands. The three causes for the Age of Exploration were the Glory, Gold, and
God.
One of the major causes for the Age of Exploration was the search for glory by the European
explorers. All of the explorations began with the interest to earn glory by setting goals for finding
certain discoveries. According to a map from 1955, in 1513, Ponco de Leon discovered
accidentally Florida while he was in search of the fountain of youth , and he later earned the glory
about this exploration (doc 1). Furthermore, Magellan set out to circumnavigate ... Show more

Explorers went out to discover new lands as they were promised a lot of gold. Nicolas Le
Challeux wrote about Florida s possessions: This country is also rich in gold and in all sorts of

because he thought they were his obstacle into discovering El Dorado the city of gold. The
golden reserves of a certain country were the reason for the voyage and its conquest, therefore,
gold is also responsible for the settlement of the Europeans on the American continents. The
material promises made to conquerors as they discovered new places is what developed the trade
system and set up the bases of massive colonization waves. Gold didn t just serve as a motivation
for exploration, but also as a price. According to a statistic from the 1995, Spain exported around 7
million of ounces of gold and silver to the New World in 1598 (doc 3). Moreover, Cortes s desire
to conquer the Aztecs was also moved by the fact that they had a lot of gold as many of their
buildings were fully built out of it, and he took all of it when he conquered Montezuma II. .The
Spanish gradually increased their golden reserves, but used it for the development of their own
country Spain, which lead to economic bloom and Spain became a leading country in

Anyone can eat soul food on any particular day of the year. However, it is something distinctive
about preparing and eating soul food on Thanksgiving Day. Soul food is considered to be fried
chicken, macaroni and cheese, collard greens, breaded fried okra and yams. The preparation and
consumption of soul foodhave been a staple in my family s tradition for many generations.
Perchance the food tastes better because of the cool crisp air, or maybe it s the Macy s
Thanksgiving Day parade. I honestly don t know why, but I feel like this should be a paten
scientific theory. Everything just feels right on this day, as if the world halts for a split second and
it is at harmony. Possibly that is why the food is cooked to perfection. Even the process of
preparing the meal is practically better than eating the food.

government officials.
On June 17, 1972, a reporter name Woodward who worked for the Washington Post was asked to

20. A Short Note On Oklahoma Race Riots And The Black Wall Street
Tu
Tulsa Race Riots
On May 31 June 1, 1921, a series of actions occurred in Greenwood, a small district in the northern
parts of Tulsa, Oklahoma, which are now called the Tulsa race Riots.
Being a segregated city like the rest of Oklahoma, many of Tulsa s African American citizens
resided in Greenwood an area composed of predominately African Americancommunities and
business locations. The discovery of oil is the number one reason why Tulsa s economy flourished.
There was an abundance of wealthy African Americans due to of this discovery. Because of the
affluence and success within the African American community going on in this one particular area,
it became known as the Black Wall Street.
The whole chain of events began on May 30, 1921 when Dick Rowland, a young black man,
allegedly assaulted a white elevator operator. Rowland was arrested the next day. However, outside
the courthouse a group of raging whites gathered to attempt to lynch Rowland while a group of
African Americans were protecting him to prevent the hanging. With the signal of one unintentional
gunshot, many others rang out leaving some from both groups dead. With word getting around
town of the riot, many angered whites stormed into the Greenwood District. Residencies were set
on fire and many businesses were looted and burned to the ground. Planes also flew by dropping
bombs in the area. With law enforcement on the whites side, the officers were also a part of the

For people who like to work with computers and be on TV, broadcasting is the job for them.
Broadcasters need a certain education and training; they also need have definite responsibilities
and special skills. Finally, the potential advancements as well as the demand and outlook for
broadcasters to come in positive. Research states that some careers in broadcasting are senior
broadcast radio engineers (Senior Broadcast Radio Engineer), senior broadcast television
engineers (Senior Broadcast Television Engineer), AM directional specialist (AM Directional
Specialist), broadcast television engineers (Broadcast Television Engineer), and digital radio
broadcast specialist (Digital Radio Broadcast Specialist) The required courses are also important
to consider. One source states that broadcasting and sound engineering technicians need a
postsecondary nondegree and an additional certificate if required. Broadcast engineers will need
an associate s degree. Sometimes with high school diplomas broadcasters could get a beginner s
position (Broadcast and Sound Engineering Technicians). Further research reports that film and
video editors and camera operators need a bachelor s degree. This degree must have something
to do with broadcasting (Film and Video Editors and Camera Operators). Finally comes the
producers and directors. Research states that it s a good idea for them to have a bachelor s degree.

22. Sacred Texture Analysis Essay
Introduction
To explore the use of innovation and creativity in leading the early Christian communities from
insular spirituality to a global social or religious force, I am using the method of Sacred Texture
Analysis. Analysis of sacred text is a way of systemically probing dynamics across a spectrum of
relationships between the humans and the divine (Robbins, 1996, pg.4). The sacred texture of a
text is the formation and nurturing of religious community (Robbins, 1996, pg.127). Therefore,
socio rhetorical criticism extends intertextuality to include cultural discourse (Gowler, 1999,
pg.197). So the challenge is how to understand Apostle Peter s organizational leadership and then
apply these concepts to today s organizational leadership. Below are my insights according to Bible
reading and extensive research of 1 and 2 Peter. In carrying out his mission, Peter persistently had
to struggle with questions of leadership with creativity and innovation. In a very significant sense,
he had to disconnect ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The young men are supposed to submit to their elders. Peter devotes only four verses to the
elders but only a short verse to the young men due to the level of qualifications and or defense.
The young men are supposed to submit to their divinely appointed leaders since they need to
gain wisdom and practice in defense. Young men definitely need wisdom before going their own
way when the right time comes. Young men usually fail to appreciate the wisdom of the elderly
and or wiser in the faith. Leaders can shape opportunities and motivations for storytelling (Branson,
et al., 2011, pg.53). When young men hear how the leadership of others has influenced them and
their churches, they can rethink what is important in their own praxes of leadership (Branson, et
al., 2011, pg. 54). Therefore, the leadership of the elders need to be followed at all

Several researchers like (Burakova and Mazokhin Porshnyakov, 1982; Mishra and Meyer Rochow,
2008a) confirmed that the vesicles originate from inflation of the interretinular strands and are
simply extensions of the cone cells. Shaw (1978) considered the presence of vesicles around the
rhabdomere to be a typical feature of dark/lightadaption. The location of the interretinular spaces
suggests two possible functions. The first is to make physical contact with the rhabdomeres
because both of them disappear in the nuclear region. The second, physiological function by
increase sensitivity at the cost of resolution the presence of a palisade, which bodice the pigment
granules away from the rhabdom. Finally, accordingly to (Horridge and Barnard, 1965) this IRSs

of stray light to entire the eyes.
4.3.2 Distal retinula cells
The rhabdom is long and wide at the distal start and becomes very narrow at the most proximal end.
(Horridge and Barnard, 1965; Land, 1981; Stavenga, 2003) reported that the long rhabdom allows
the receptor to collect more light and increasing the sensitivity, this feature is common in nocturnal
and crepuscular insects. Although the eye examined here exhibits light adaption, there is strong
evidence that this eye has an anatomical design optimized for vision in dim light.

Temporary Fix or Permanent Solution
The problem that is ever increasing in danger and complexity is Internet being dangerous. The
Internet problem is something that is caused by many things like Malware, Spoofing, Viruses
and ransomware. Some of the effects of the problem are loss of finances and personal
information. Another few are people losing their identity to others and damage to people s
property. With the amount of danger the causes make the solution to the problem should be
clear and easy to think and make. Yet sadly the problem with making the solution is people have
come up with only small patches that minimize the damage and lower the chances of being the
victim of it but none have solved the problem in it s entirety. Many of the partial solutions either
protect from the problem by fighting it or by avoiding it altogether. An example of avoiding the
danger is by having programs that have a list of known malicious programs and doesn t let any of
those onto the device. A true solution to this problem would need to either make the problem
disappear altogether or to make the problem not be able to affect people and their devices.
Internet safety has been getting more and more difficult to keep even at the level it is now. This
problem is spreading not just to small businesses but also to major companies as well with this

29. South African Government Denied The Non White Population...

History Year 9
Rights and Freedoms
Final
This research essay is about how the South African Government denied the non white population
the same human rights as the white population during the period of Apartheid law from 1948 to
1994. Apartheid, which is an Afrikaans word meaning apartness , was a social and political system
of white minority government in South Africa. During apartheid, the rights of black South Africans
were denied under the United Nations Declaration of Human Rights Articles. The apartheid laws
that were introduced by the government contradicted many of the UN Declaration of Human
Rights articles, especially Articles 3, 5 and 6.

Article 3 states that Everyone has the right to life, liberty and security of person , which in simple
terms means that everyone has the right to live in freedom and safety.
The racist, all white Afrikaner Nationalist Party introduced laws that denied the rights of black
South Africans and contravened Article 3 of the UDHR. Two of the laws enforced during Apartheid
violated Article 3 with respect to denying their right to live in freedom without racial discrimination
and segregation from the white community. Apartheid laws introduced Acts like the 1950 Act No
30, Population Registration Act which required all South Africans to be racially classified into four
racial groups; Bantu (South African natives), coloured (mixed race), white and Asian (immigrants
from India). They also introduced the 1951 Bantu Authorities Act, which was a law that created
black reserves called homelands. The homelands were independent states that all black people were
relocated to which denied them their South African citizenship and voting rights.
(www.mtholyoke.edu, South Africa and the Apartheid, Life During the Apartheid )
There were major consequences for the black South African population while living under these
particular laws. The 1950 Act No 30 Population Registration Act forced all South Africans over
the age of 16 to carry racial identification cards based on their skin colour which often meant that
family members were classified into different racial groups. Blacks had

30. Why College Housing Is Great And Not So Great
As we know housing is very important to our universities around the world today and to our very
own Old Dominion University . Of course, it s important to us first year college students as well as
upperclassmen but not as much, because we feel that it s time to move out. But there are many
more reasons why collegehousing is great and not so great. Living in on campus housing has it s
perks but, here is the trick we are paying a fortune for it. And we share one room with two others
and spacing is not equivalent. Housing rates are extremely high because we are paying for the
things that we use. For example the water, lights, electricity, and custodial staff.

Of course they are already going to be in deep debt when it is all over. On the other hand,
lowering the rates would make a big difference when it comes to paying for housing.
The University would and could somewhat make more money in a way. They could benefit
because if the prices were more affordable more students would pay. Housing is apart tuition when
of all it is combined. Using the tuition calculator allows you to see an estimate of how much
attendance would be.(http://blue.odu.edu/admissions/calculator/) Include on campus housing and
watch it rise to even more. In fact there it shows that it is a big price gap with living on campus
and, that the prices should be lowered in some way.
Out of state students pay for coming into a different state to attend college as we know. It is not
at all cheap they actually pay double of what a in state student pays. They already are paying
double and of course out of all students they need housing. Because whichever state they came
from it is miles away and traveling would be ridiculous. They would need to benefit from the
prices of housing to be low as possible. The cost of their tuition would drop tremendously if the
prices was low. This is one major requirement to have housing as a out of state student. First and
foremost if the prices were affordable even more out of state students would attend Old Dominion
because, the price of tuition including

31. Using The Group Membership Method Resemble Those Found By...
Results in the present study produced using the group membership method resemble those found
by Lusseau et al. (2003) in which the Doubtful Sound population could be divided into three sub
groups. The composition of groups however is somewhat different. This is in part due to different
individuals being present / alive during their study than in the current study. Where all individuals
present in both studies are placed across all three defined groups in Lusseau et al. s (2003) study,
all but Kringel fall into the same single group in the present study. This suggests that, while the
overall sub group structure may have been maintained over time, there is a degree of fluidity among
members of sub groups. This is the very nature of a fission fusion society, where group
composition is dynamic over time (Grellier et al. 2003). The three sub groups may be an apparently
permanent feature of the populationwhen using the group membership method, with the fission
fusion nature of bottlenose dolphins defining the composition of each group through time. It must
be noted however that Lusseau et al. s (2003) study was over a period of seven years, where 546
days were spent on the water. Due to the immense differences in field effort, direct comparisons are
made with caution. Previous pilot work, which spanned only 6 days, also yielded similar results
using the group membership method.

have created myths, legends, and beliefs that were passed down through generations about what the
lights were made up of, but today scientists have gathered information and have come to a
conclusion; however, there are still mysteries that remain unknown. In short terms, explosions on
the sunreleases charged particles called plasma into the solar system (Goodrich). Some of these
particles hit Earth, which then reacts with our planet s magnetic field and atmosphere. Then, the
atoms and molecules in the atmosphere light up due to the electrons moving up to higher energy

39. New York City Essay
Setting Gray, charcoal clouds, hung in the musty air. Noisy honking and shouting came from every
direction. Constantly police and ambulance sirens charged through the streets, interrupting the car s
ear splitting conversation. People trudged through the streets below, panic eternally in the air.
Buildings stood tall above everything, observing endlessly. A shade of continuous greyfell across
everything. The towering skyscrapers, the fussy cars, the dirty streets, and the people; their faces
drowned of everything but grey. This place was New York City.
On June 6th, 2017, in one certain grey apartment building, in apartment 303 lived a man, just a man
that lived alone. He just happened to wake up every morning to the lovely sweet sound ... Show

This place might be the filthiest place you ve ever seen, but the paychecks are even worse.
Up the grimy stairs the man went, with his shiny black case filled with who knows what and
into the first door on the right. The room had grey carpet and the walls were grey too. There was
only about three desks in the whole room and two people sitting on either side of them. Stacks
and stacks of documents covered one corner of the room. The man ambled over to the stacks of
paper, grabbed a stack and sat at his usual seat at one of the three desks.
Character Sketch
The man suddenly Leaned over in his chair and grabbed the handle of the shiny black case, pulled
it up onto his desk, pushing all of the papers and pens off of the desk. The man unlatched the
lock that was placed directly under the handle and inside was a picture of a man, woman, and two
kids. The people looked happy. Like a family. Why would a man that lived alone have a picture of
a happy family? The man seemed to be very interested in it though.
But, the man in the picture didn t look anything like the man that was looking at it. He had greasy
this grey hair and a stubble. His glasses were had faded gold wire as the frame and his eyes were a
grayish green. His wardrobe stuck to red and green shirts and faded worn jeans.
The man in the picture had black hair, but it looked to be turning grayish. He had green eyes

40. Climate Changes And Climate Change
From the observations presented in the paper it is clear that there is direct/indirect link between
extreme events and climate change and the similar observation was found by Seneviratne et al.,
2012) supporting that Climate change has resulted in changes in the occurrence of extreme events.
Moreover, Out of 24 extreme events analyzed in this paper, 12 showed direct or indirect links to
anthropogenic climate changeand some could not be explained. Once a change has been detected it
is important to attribute that change to some cause. Attribution, especially to human greenhouse
gas emissions, gives confidence to model projections of the future driven by anthropogenic forcing
as well as predictions of extremes at shorter time scales (Seneviratne and Zwiers, 2015). When an
extreme event occurs, the question of attribution of these events to human induced climatechange is
of particular interest. Two schools of thought have emerged in this rapidly developing field. Oxford
quantifies the change in probability of an extreme event of a particular observed magnitude caused
by the human alteration of the climate system whereas Boulder (NOAA s Earth System Research
Laboratory) examines the human induced change in magnitude of an extreme event. While
providing different types of information to stakeholders, both these probabilistic and mechanistic
schools of thought have been shown to be equivalent (Easterling et al 2016). But in some cases,
some scientists have concluded that a

41. Harley-Davidson Case Essay
Harley Davidson Mini Case
Question 1 The international business environment that Harley Davidson faces includes several
challenges and obstacles. These challenges include trying to increase sales in nations that already
offer well known brands of motorcycles at cheaper costs. Besides having to compete with local
brands, in places such as Europe each specific country may have different preferences on styling,
size, and the type of performance. Other obstacles include high tariffs in some emerging markets,
potential for piracy and counterfeiting of designs, environmental and regulatory sanctions due to
high greenhouse gas emissions, and the need lower carbon footprint standards. Should Harley
attempt to increase its international ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With respect to Europe Harley could expand the presence of its HOG club as well as begin to
offer lines of motorcycles geared toward European tastes that are lighter weight, smaller, and faster.
They have already shown signs of doing this with the purchase MV Augusta Group in 2008. For
the nation of Japan Harley can expand its local distribution network and subsidiary. An introduction
of the HOG club there may also boost interest in the brand. The company can also focus on cutting
production costs and offering their motorcycles at lower prices to compete with the local Japanese
brands that are considerably cheaper. It would also be wise for Harley to maintain its path of
lowering its greenhouse gas emissions and carbon footprint to appease the Japanese government
and to appeal to the Japanese public.
Question 4 Harley can compete against firms such as Lifan and Zongshen in a few ways. In one
regard Harley can stick to its core business of heavyweight bikes and attempt to rely on its brand
name and history to attract customers. These bikes would be more expensive and Harley probably
would not make large gains within these markets. Simultaneously Harley could also attempt to
open local assembly plants, distribution networks, and subsidiaries to utilize the same low cost
labor as their emerging competitors. As they did in Europe, Harley could also purchase one of
these competitors to adhere to the tastes of the local market. Harley should look

42. Economic Recession In Gone Girl
A central point of the story in Gone Girl is the animosity between Nick and Amy in their marriage.
There are several reasons why these negative feelings exist, but the recession which occurred in the
early 1990s is the first in a long list. The time of Nick and Amy s mutual unemployment, shown
through various memories and diary entries, is remembered by both of the main characters as the
point when their marriagebegan to degrade. The novel s story has a tendency to exaggerate average
situations into worst case scenarios. Nick and Amy s marriage was perfect in the beginning, but
after the recession grew into a twisted and dysfunctional relationship. This exemplifies the effects of
economic recession and unemployment can have on people. Before

43. Similarities And Mechanistic Theories Within A Pluralistic...
Counterfactuals and mechanistic theories present two distinct, although perhaps not incompatible
causal theories. In this paper, I will outline them, contrast their basic strengths, and finally aim to
argue in favour of a monist mechanistic account, in particular focusing on resolving two general
arguments against mechanistic theory to which the answer is commonly to adopt a pluralistic
account. Let s begin by considering our two causal accounts: First, counterfactuals centre on the
notion that alterations to the cause make a difference to it s effect. In this way, the relationship
between the cause, and the effect can be said to be causal so long as if I change the cause, the
effect will be different. Thus, if I were to throw a ball at a window, and it broke, then I could call
the relationship between the throwing of the ball and the window s breaking to be causal, so long
as had I not thrown the ball, a different effect (in this case, the window not breaking) would have
occurred. By contrast, mechanistic theory focuses on the identifiable linking processes between the
cause and effect. Salmon, Dowe, Machamer and Glennan all present accounts of mechanistic
theory, however it is Glennan s approach which I will focus on, as he has the most success in
forming the underlying intuitions into clear elements. He begins by identifying the component
elements deemed necessary for a mechanistic process, which includes the interaction of a series of
parts, acting according to

44. The Problem Of Juvenile Delinquency
Stephanie R. Hawkins, Philip w. Graham, Jason Williams, and Margaret A. Zahn provide us with a
cornucopia of information pertaining to Resilient Girls on the Girls Study Group. In the year 2004
girls made up thirty percent of all juvenile arrest. However, the question still remains whether it is
an increase in juvenile delinquencyor society s response to girl s behavior. In order to find out the
answers to these questions the office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency prevention created the
Girls Study Group. To fight the statistics and improve the lives of girls in danger of juvenile
delinquency.
Resiliency is the power to be able to deal with a tremendous amount of stress and negative
situations. Resiliency plays key role in the prevention and intervention of programs out there.
Scientists to this day still have not figured out why some kids may be resilient and not others. In
the end certain factors may or may not have the same impact on others concerning gender. This
reading provides you with some Intel that has been discovered in research to suggest why some
girls may be protected from delinquency.
Resiliency is best defined as human s ability to be able to adapt and learn in a negative atmosphere.
Situations that they might survive may be being abused or neglected, witnessing violence, or living
in poverty that could in the end lead them a life in delinquency. The majority of research today,
focuses on the negative factors that contributed to making people

45. Adoption Report
When I finally learned about my heritage, I was ten. My mother and I were standing in the bank
vault, and she was getting some papers for a trip to Canada, to update all of our passports. While
Mom was sorting through the papers and jewelry in our lock box, I joined her. One particular,
colorful document caught my eye, so I drew it from the lockbox and held it up to her, asking
what it was. After looked at what I was talking about, she explained that it is my birth certificate.
The writing was strange, definitely not English, so this couldn t possibly be my birth certificate.
Mom gathered all of the passports, my birth certificate, and we went home. I couldn t stop asking
her questions about what all of the words meant, until she finally told me. That day, I learned of my
adoption. The adoption story... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Such as, why was I supposed to be on the registry for 10 months, instead of six months, or even a
year? Why did they offer us up to Russians first, instead of just putting us out on the registry? Why
couldn t my family look at the registry? Why did my parents feel the need to bribe the judge?
As I asked questions, I learned that the reason they offered us up to Russians first was that they
considered children, orphans, as the perfect building blocks of Soviet citizenships. There was no
family to corrupt us and we lived under the care of the State. Now, why a Russian family didn t
take me was they did not have much money to adopt children. Adoption of Russian babies could
cost up to $50,000. My adoption cost about $15,000. The small amount is due to my mental
disability. Viewed as incompetent by Russians, I was more likely to extend out to a global
adoption. I was a clearance baby .
The reason children are supposed to be on the registry for 10 months is so eligible Russian
couples, who are looking to adopt, can have their pick, instead of having all of the decent children
snatched up by
