This document discusses different types and degrees of atrioventricular (AV) block. It describes first, second (Mobitz types I and II), and third/complete degree AV blocks. First degree block involves a prolonged PR interval over 0.20 seconds without failed conduction. Second degree Mobitz I (Wenckebach) block shows progressive PR prolongation until a P wave is dropped. Mobitz II block has a constant PR but intermittent non-conduction. Complete heart block results in independent atrial and ventricular rhythms without conduction between the two. Treatment depends on the type and cause but may include correcting electrolytes, removing offending drugs, atropine, pacing, or pacemaker implantation.
