Unit: You Are What You Eat
Thursday - ASSURE
Analyze Learners
 The unit is for an 8th grade Health class and is geared
toward the average learner. The students range in age
from 13 to 15 years. 7 students in the class have mild
ADHD. The class consists of 10 boys, 7 girls, 70% white,
20% African-American and 10% Latino. Generally, the
students are well-behaved when the lesson integrates
project-based learning activities that focus on topics of
interest.
State Objectives
 Students will demonstrate their understanding of a well-
balanced meal with 90% accuracy by writing down their
meal plans .

Materials
 QR codes
 Pinterest
Utilize Media and Materials
 QR codes will be used to navigate each group to a
pinterest page.
 Pinterest will be used to guide students and give them
ideas in constructing unique healthy well-balanced
meals.
Require Learner Participation
 All students must participate in the group work of using
the qr codes, pinterest, and the creating of meals.
Evaluate and Revise
 Students will be evaluated during the group activities
and by their 3 meals that they constructed. Each meal
should include foods from each food group and have
benefits for cardiac health, digestion health, and muscle
health, as well as others.
