Twitter experience
Greg Mauk followed several educational Twitter accounts including @ci350class, @cybraryman1, @web20classroom, @NMHS_Principal, and @stumpteacher. He found interesting articles and insights about using social media in education. One article discussed how social media can help connect students and be an important educational tool. The tweets from these educators gave Mauk ideas for his own classroom and expanded his knowledge on educational issues and using technology to make learning fun and interactive.
ASSURE PowerPoint
The ASSURE model provides a framework for designing effective instruction. It consists of 6 steps:
1) Analyze learners to understand their characteristics, learning styles, and skills.
2) State objectives by specifying what learners will be able to do.
3) Select methods, media, and materials by choosing instructional approaches and resources that match the objectives and learners.
4) Utilize media and materials during the lesson by properly preparing and presenting them in a learner-centered way.
5) Require learner participation through active involvement, feedback, and applying different learning theories.
6) Evaluate and revise the instruction by assessing achievement of objectives and modifying the lesson as needed based on
