This document outlines a lesson plan to teach first grade students the months of the year in chronological order. The class has 17 students, most of whom are white or African American. Several have ADHD. Throughout the week, the students will listen to podcasts and read a book about the months, manipulate a calendar, and create a Voki recording themselves listing the months. Their knowledge will be assessed through verbal checks and reassembling the calendar. For the final assessment, students will use Voki to demonstrate listing the months correctly. If students struggle, additional lessons and tasks will be provided to help them master the material.

A-Teaching the months of the year to a first grade class, Special Ed. 10 boys, 7 girls, 70% white,
20% African Americans, and 10% Hispanic. 7 students in the class have ADHD.
S-The first grade students will demonstrate that they know the months of the year in
chronological order by the end of the week with 100% accuracy. They will be constantly
assessed on their knowledge of this information while using materials such as podcasts, a
calendar, and a book. Their final assessment will then be evaluated through a Voki assignment.
S- The materials we use will include: Podcasts, Materials and Visual, Vokis, and a book. The
methods will include: auditory, visual, and kinesthetic. These materials and methods will enable
each and every student to gain the knowledge necessary for this assignment in various ways.
U- I will be utilizing my materials by reading the book of the months aloud to the children and
then following up with a verbal assessment of what they recollect from the book. Also I will go
over a calendar with them form the Materials and Visual category. I will disassemble the
calendar and then have the students piece it back together in order. The students will also listen
to a Podcast of an individual reciting the months of the year in chronological order. The final
assessment will be at the end of the week in which they will be asked to create a Voki that recites
the months of the year in chronological order. They will be allowed to choose how the Voki does
this whether they would like to speak into the microphone or type it out is all up to them.
R- The students will interact with me after reading the book and interaction will also occur
between them and the calendar. The students will be required to participate in order to listen to
the podcast and create their own Voki at the end of the week for evaluation.
E- I will evaluate them throughout the week with the small assessments and interactions. Then
the final assessment will be based off of the students Voki’s. If the students know the months of

the year in chronological order then the Voki’s will portray that accurately. If the Voki’s show
that the students are unable to list the months in the correct order then there will be revisions to
be made and they will be given a different set of tasks to complete in order for them to grasp the
rest of the concept that they were lacking in the previous week.
