Thursday: His Death
A- Teaching about Abraham Lincoln’s death to 22, 5th grade students. The students range from
10 to 11 years in age. The class is comprised of 13 girls, 9 boys, 2 ADHD children, 7 African
Americans, 5 Hispanics, and 8 Caucasians.
S- The 5thgrade students will know how, when, and why Abraham Lincoln died by the end of the
day with 100% accuracy.They will be assessed on their knowledge of his assassination through
their participation while using the various materials listed below.
S- The technology that the students will use on Thursday include Voki, Pinterest and a Podcast.
U- The students will watch the Voki as a gentle way of explaining Lincoln’s assassination. Then
they will all get on a computer and listen to the podcast given to them about the assassination.
They will stay on the computers for the remainder of the class period researching and viewing
the pins on Pinterest to see if there is any new information they would like to use.
R- The students will be required to participate during both of the online activities for the day.
They must listen to the podcast and get on to the Pinterest board to read the information about
Abraham Lincoln’s assassination and his similarities to John F. Kennedy.
E- The students will be evaluated based off of their participation in class activities that day. The
final evaluation will show whether or not they did the activities in class that day.
