Introduction
The Emancipation Proclamation changed the face of the United States forever.Without the
Emancipation Proclamation it can be said that the African Americans in this country might still not be
free. Although not everyone was freed right away Lincoln certainly got the ball rolling on the idea.
Written and issued twice this proclamation not only began to free the slaves but also scared the South
into another slew of loses to the North. The Emancipation Proclamation without a doubt helped Lincoln
reunite the North and South giving us the United States that we know today.
Task
For this assignment you will be asked to read through all of the information given in the sources below
then answer the questions given. After reading and answering the questions you will be asked to write a
two page paper on the questions you have already answered AND your personal feeling on the matter.

Conclusion
The Emancipation Proclamation is one of the most famous documents issued during any presidency and also
one of Abraham Lincoln’s crowning achievements. From this assignment the students will gain a better
understand of what the Emancipation Proclamation was and what it was used for. They will know when it
was issued, who it freed, and ultimately how it changed the face of the United States as we know it now.
