ASSURE
1-Teaching the months of the year to a 1stgrade class, Special ed, 10 boys, 7 girls, 70% white 20%
African-American and 10% Hispanic.7 students in the class have mild to severe ADHD (attention deficit
hyperactivity disorder).

A – Analyze Learners: My learners are 1st grade Special Education class containing 10 boys and 7
boys. 70% of my students are white, 20% are African-American and 10% are Hispanic. Also 7 of these
students have mild to severe ADHD.

S – State Objectives: This class of first graders will recite all of the months of the year in the order
that they occur by setting goals that they must meet every week for 6 weeks using singing, creating a
calendar poster on Microsoft Office, creating a picture of all 12 months using holidays or symbols of the
seasons, and also picking their favorite month of the year, creating a podcast with my help about why
this is their favorite month.After the students create a podcast they will it share with the class. This will
be done with 100% accuracy by the end of 6 weeks.

S – Select methods, Media, and Materials: Setting goals. Hands-on activities. Music. Show and tell.

U – Utilize Media and Materials: I will preview the music/songs I teach the students for learning the
months of the year. I will also prepare the learners by having them set weekly goals for themselves and
also by getting them interested in wanting to learn about the months of the year. Next, I will show the
students examples of podcast made by other people. Lastly I will make sure this learning experience is
something that they will remember.

R – Require Learner Participation: Each student must meet their weekly goal and participating in all
of the activities.

E – Evaluate and Revise: Students will be evaluated on how well they can recite the 12 months of
the year in the order they occur and also how well they participate and work with others.
