Assure Method
Friday: What does Abraham Lincoln mean to the United States?
A- Teaching about Abraham Lincoln to 22, 5th grade students. The students range from 10 to 11
years in age. The class is comprised of 13 girls, 9 boys, 2 ADHD children, 7 African Americans,
5 Hispanics, and 8 Caucasians.
S- Objective the 5th grade students will know what Abraham Lincoln meant to the United States
based off of the information they have collected with 100% accuracy. They will be constantly
assessed on their knowledge of this information through the various materials listed below and at
the end of the week.
S- The students will use blogs, Twitter, and Web Design to finish their final project.
U- The students will comment on the blog provided to them the night before class with their
classmates. They will also be responsible for mentioning me on our classes Twitter if they are
having any issues with an assignment. During class on Friday the students will be given time to
begin and/or finish their final project. The Web Design is the final project that they will have due
on the following Monday. They will create a wiki account and embed all of the assignments and
research that they did over the week on to that account. The final page on that account will be for
them to write their response as to the question “What does Abraham Lincoln mean to the United
States?”
R- The students will be required to participate in class while on the computers commenting on
the blog or working on their final project on the wiki.
E- The students will have their final evaluation of the week once they have completed the wiki.
