Web 2.0 Assignment
Path
Introduction:
This tutorial is to teach you how to use Path. Path is a social network. It is a Web 2.0 application.
Path is a way for you to connect with people all around the world. It is free, has real-time chat available,
and is collaborative. You can share your life, thoughts, events, pictures, music, books, and so much more
with your family and friends. You can chat privately, one-on-one, through messaging. You can also chat
in group messages. Path also allows you to connect your Path posts to your other social networks.
Step by Step Instruction:
1. Download the Path app to your cell phone or go to www.Path.com
2. Make an account
a. When you open Path the process to create an account will be the first
thing you see.
b. It will ask you for your name, email, and a password.
c. Once you fill out those requested sections, hit Get Started.
3. After you get started…Path will take you to fill out your personal information
and choose a profile picture. You can choose to skip this and return to it later if you decide you
want to update your information. (Optional)
2. 4. It will then ask you if you are male or female. You can choose the option…I’d
rather not say.
5. Path then wants to help you find friends from your contacts or any other social
network site you have. You can also skip this step and return to it later.
6. You will then be taken to your Path home where you can begin exploring.
7. To upload pictures, your location, music, movies, books, what’s on your mind, or
whether you are asleep or awake, just click on the plus in the bottom left corner.
8. To start a chat with a friend(s), just click on the icon of the two thought bubbles.
You choose who you would like to message, type your message, then send.
3. 9. When you make a post about any of the above, other people can comment on or
like the post you made.
Use in Education:
You can use Path in education just like you can use Facebook, Twitter, or any other social
network. You can make a Path for your class or school. Each student and teacher can also create their
own Path. Then each student and teacher can then make their page only viewable to other students and
teachers from that area or school. The students can then interact with teachers and other classmates.
They can ask questions, have discussions, and interact with each other. Teachers can post homework
assignments and more.
Path in Our Unit:
We can use path in our pillar, Languages, in many ways. Path can allow out students to chat,
discuss, message, or post about sign language. Their classmates or teachers can comment, post, or chat
about the information presented on Path by any of the students. Pictures of sign language can be posted
to help a classmate understand or learn how to do that sign. Students can also share songs, books, or
videos that help them with sign language. It will be used like the class time outside of class. This class
Path would be private and only allow students and teachers to view or interact on it.
