This document outlines a lesson plan for teaching first grade students the months of the year using the ASSURE method. The students are in a special education class with 10 boys and 7 girls from various racial backgrounds. Seven students have ADHD. The objectives are for students to name the months in order with 85% accuracy. Methods include using posters, singing songs, and working in teams to order the months. Materials include songs and numbered flashcards. Students will work in groups to order the months and their participation will be evaluated by having each student recite the months to the teacher. Those scoring under 80% will review troublesome months and be re-evaluated using flashcards.

on each latter as it was shown on the examples.

Analyzes Learners-
1st graders, Special ed, 10 boys, 7 girls, 70% white 20% African-American and 10% Hispanic.7
students in the class have mild to severe ADHD (attention deficit hyperactivity disorder).
State Objectives-
My students will be able to correctly name all the months of the year in order By using
flashcards, singing songs, and using birthdays to associate with months come in order, they will
be able to come up to my desk and say them in order with 85% accuracy.
Select Methods, Media, and Materials-
We will go over posters, sing songs, work in teams to place each month in the correct order,
and numbering them off.
Utilize media, materials-
As a class we will look up songs that sing the months of the year.
Require learner’s participation-
Working in small groups to place the months of the year in the correct order will be helpful
because everyone will have to participate and that why they can help each other on the months
they are unsure of.
Evaluate and Revise-
2. For the evaluation, each child will have to recite to me on the correct order the months of the
year. If they cannot do with 80% accuracy by the end of the week. We will go over the months
that they had the most trouble with and review. They will then be given another chance to
place them in the correct order, only this time they will be putting flash cards in order.
