Piping components, materials, codes and standards part 1- pipeAlireza Niakani
The course is focused on four areas: piping components, pipe materials and manufacture, sizes, codes and standards. Applicable piping codes for oil and gas facilities (ISO, B31.3, B31.4, B31.8, etc.), pipe sizing calculations, pipe installation, and materials selection are an integral part of the course. The emphasis is on proper material selection and specification of piping systems.
Within industry, piping is a system of pipes used to convey fluids (liquids and gases) from one location to another. The engineering discipline of piping design studies the efficient transport of fluid
Industrial process piping (and accompanying in-line components) can be manufactured from wood, fiberglass, glass, steel, aluminum, plastic, copper, and concrete. The in-line components, known as fittings, valves, and other devices, typically sense and control the pressure, flow rate and temperature of the transmitted fluid, and usually are included in the field of Piping Design (or Piping Engineering). Piping systems are documented in piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs). If necessary, pipes can be cleaned by the tube cleaning process.
"Piping" sometimes refers to Piping Design, the detailed specification of the physical piping layout within a process plant or commercial building. In earlier days, this was sometimes called Drafting, Technical drawing, Engineering Drawing, and Design but is today commonly performed by Designers who have learned to use automated Computer Aided Drawing / Computer Aided Design (CAD) software
This Presentation is about the basic fundamentals one needs to know to begin Piping Engineering. All the basic formulas and questions that are usually asked in interviews are answered in this presentation. Feel free to ask any doubts in the comments and iI may try my best to answer them for you.

Enterprise Excellence is Inclusive Excellence.pdfKaiNexus
Enterprise excellence and inclusive excellence are closely linked, and real-world challenges have shown that both are essential to the success of any organization. To achieve enterprise excellence, organizations must focus on improving their operations and processes while creating an inclusive environment that engages everyone. In this interactive session, the facilitator will highlight commonly established business practices and how they limit our ability to engage everyone every day. More importantly, though, participants will likely gain increased awareness of what we can do differently to maximize enterprise excellence through deliberate inclusion.
What is Enterprise Excellence?
Enterprise Excellence is a holistic approach that's aimed at achieving world-class performance across all aspects of the organization.
What might I learn?
A way to engage all in creating Inclusive Excellence. Lessons from the US military and their parallels to the story of Harry Potter. How belt systems and CI teams can destroy inclusive practices. How leadership language invites people to the party. There are three things leaders can do to engage everyone every day: maximizing psychological safety to create environments where folks learn, contribute, and challenge the status quo.
Who might benefit? Anyone and everyone leading folks from the shop floor to top floor.

* Sweco Fab, Inc., designs and fabricates different kinds of pressure vessels per ASME Sec. VIII, Div. I, and welded steel tanks per API codes. Here are just a few examples of pressure vessels, which we will talk about in further detail on the next few slides.
48” I.D. ASME Code Pressure Vessel This vessel was designed for the customer as a replacement vessel for one in the field that had already provided 20 years of service in a mildly corrosive environment. Sweco Fab, Inc. worked with the customer to provide a vessel that was even more efficient than the previous one by including 1/8″ thicker walls, an additional 12″ between tangents, heat treatment, an internal drip plate, and an OSHA compliant ladder and platform. 60″ tangent to tangent (overall height is 81” and 120” including the legs) Fabricated from 1/2″ 516-70 carbon steel Capacity: 500 gallons Internal design pressure: 50 psig Max. acceptable working pressure: 178 psig Heat treated for stress corrosion resistance in the field 100% x-ray tested and hydro-tested at 231 psig Job#01231 (Ethyl Corporation)

Pig Launchers and Receivers are installed in pipelines to launch and receive Pipeline Pigs. Pigs can be used for the cleaning of pipelines. In addition, Pigs can be used for the separation of two products within the same pipeline. Sweco Fab/Piping Technology & Products, Inc. has over 40 years of experience in designing and manufacturing a wide variety of ASME/Misc. Fabricated Products – including Pig Launchers and Receivers.
A box in the control room will have a set of keys; one key per unit The first key is inserted into the fist valve and unlocks the second key The second key is inserted into the second valve which unlocks a third key and so on. The purpose is to unlock the launcher in a sequence to avoid human error which can cause serious injuries 675 psig at 200 degrees F W:\\digital_camera\\2009\\November\\Pig Launchers & Receivers 01295 http://www.chemicals-technology.com/contractors/safety/netherlocks/
Spectacle blinds serve the same purpose as flow control valves at less the cost. Spectacle blinds either stop or continue the flow depending on which end is being utilized. PT&P/SWECO Fab. can supply these spectacle blinds in any material needed, such as stainless steel, Monel, Inconel and carbon steel. Smooth, mill, machined or serrated finish is also available upon request. PT&P/SWECO Fab. can produce this product in small quantities/sizes in 48 hours if needed.

Bottom-Middle: 20” OD x 36” long suction strainer for a chemical plant in Louisiana. Fabricated from SS32 and weigh 1300 lb. Designed for 300 PSIG at 600 ° F. 100% x-ray tested butt welds of longitudinal seems and circumference seems, head to shell. Other pressure containment welds were dye penetrant examined. The unit as a whole was hydro tested at 390 PSIG. Far Right: Tee Type Strainer, Down-Flow (without blowdown) http://www.swecofab.com/strainers/teetypestainer.htm
Sweco Fab, Inc. recently designed and manufactured a 30,000 lb. Seawall Outfall Flow Regulating Device for a sea water outlet in Qatar. This 320 long flow conditioner is designed to allow water to flow thru evenly. There are nineteen 16 FRP pipes inside an 84 diameter carbon steel pipe. The pipe bundle is secured within the 84 diameter shell pipe using spring washers, which keep the bundle tight and allows for differential expansion between the steel and FRP.
