2. Picture 1 : A dog is sleeping. Mother and child crossed and saw the dog.
The child tries to touch the dog. Mother forbids and notice by saying
"Don't touch that dog. He will bite you. "
Picture 2 : However, the child actually touches the dog. What happened
later? Of course dogs feel disturbed and angry. Mother screamed in
panic, warning the child to stay away "Look out! He is going to bite
you. "
7. WILL
"Will" is a word used to
declare activities that will be
doing in the future that are not
planned before.
To express willingness: use will
(+) Subject + will + V1 + Object/Complement
(-) Subject + will not + V1 +Object/Complement
(?) Will + subject + V1 + Object/complement
Example :
(+) She will visit her girlfriend on the next holiday.
(-) She will not visit her girlfriend on the next holiday.
(?) Will she visit her girl friend on the next holiday?
8. GOING TO
“BE GOING TO” express that the
activities that will be doing in the
future that have been planned do not
matter whether the plan is realistic
or not.
(+) Subject + Be going to + V1 + O/C
(-) Subject + Be not going to + V1 + O/C
(?) Be + Subject + going to + V1 + O/C
Example :
(+) She is going to visit her cousins on the next holiday.
(-) She is not going to visit her cousins on the next holiday?
(?) Is she going to visit her cousins on the next holiday?
9. EXAMPLE OF CONVERSATION :
Conversation between Sarah and Ali:
Sarah : Hello Ali, what are you going to do this weekend?
Ali : Hello, I am going to visit my grandmother in Jakarta. How about you?
Sarah : Well, I still do not have any plan for the weekend.
Ali : Why don’t you go to museum?
Sarah : That is a good idea. But, I have to do my assignment first. Have you done your assignment?
Ali : No, I have not, I would like to do them this evening.
Sarah : Well, can we do together?
Ali : Yes, of course.
Sarah : Okay, great. I will go to your house at 4 P.M then.
Ali : I will be waiting for.
10. WILL BE GOING TO
Possibilities in the future:
• There will be rain in Bandung. Prediction of what is seen / heard.
• It is going to rain. Look at those black
clouds.
Usually does not imply a close time.
• The window will break down.
(window will break someday)
Usually implies a short time:
• The window is going to break down.
(there are cracks in the window)
Declare promises (spontan) :
• I'll pick you up.
Declare threats:
• I'll punish you if you don't go to school.
Declare (refusal):
• I will not / won't do it.
11. Penggunaan Want Penggunaan would like to
(lebih sopan)
I want to meet my friends with you
today
I’d like (i would like) to meet you
today.
I want a cup of coffee and a slice of
bread for my breakfast.
I’d like (I would like) a cup of coffee
and a slice of bread for my breakfast.
They want to meet you. They’d like (they would like) to meet
you.
The children want to see the film
tonight.
The children would like to see the film
tonight.
Example :
(+) I would like to meet you today.
(-) I would like not to meet you today.
(?) Would you like to meet me?
