 Causative verbs are used to indicate why or
how something occurs.
 They do not indicate something the subject
did for themselves, but something the subject
got someone or something else to do for
them.
 If we can’t do something by ourselves we
need other people.
 Other people can do these things for us.
 To express this we need causative verbs.

 This is used because another person does
something for you. You are not doing these
things on your own!
 Here the doer is not stated but we can
guess.

 Who pulls our teeth?
 Who checks our eyes?
 Who mowes our grass?

 I had my sister do my homework because I
was too busy to do it.
 My father is having me buy bread.

HAVE-INDIRECT OBJECT- BASE FORM
 In this causative form, again, someone does
something for us but this time we clearly
know who does them.
 The doer is stated in this form.
