Arturo Rogerio Luz was a Filipino painter, sculptor, and designer born in 1926. He studied art in Manila, New York, and Paris. He helped establish the Luz Gallery in Manila, which professionalized art galleries and influenced generations of Filipino artists. Luz produced minimalist, geometric abstract works that elevated Filipino aesthetics. He received many awards over his 40+ year career, including being named a National Artist of the Philippines in 1997.
