Title For College Essay
Writing an essay on the topic "Title For College Essay" might seem deceptively simple at first
glance, but delving into the intricacies of crafting the perfect title can be a challenging endeavor.
The difficulty lies not only in selecting words that are captivating and reflective of the essay's
essence but also in striking a delicate balance between creativity and clarity.
One of the primary challenges is avoiding clichГ©s and overused phrases that may dilute the
uniqueness of the chosen title. It requires a thorough exploration of one's thoughts, experiences,
and aspirations, coupled with the ability to distill these elements into a concise and compelling
title. Struggling to find that elusive combination of words that encapsulates the essence of the
essay can be an arduous process, demanding careful consideration of the target audience and the
overarching message.
Moreover, the title sets the tone for the entire essay, serving as a critical first impression.
Achieving a balance between intrigue and informativeness can be tricky, as the title needs to
spark interest without sacrificing clarity. Crafting a title that not only captures attention but also
aligns with the essay's overarching theme requires a keen understanding of the nuances of
language and a creative mindset.
In conclusion, the task of writing an essay on the topic "Title For College Essay" involves
navigating a complex landscape of language, creativity, and clarity. It demands a meticulous
approach to word choice and composition to create a title that not only stands out but also
effectively communicates the essence of the essay. However, for those seeking assistance or

The Four Core Beliefs Of Derek Jeter
When you start your education at Sport and Medical Sciences Academy(SMSA)
you are taught and are expected to follow the four core beliefs that shape our
school and its environment. The four core beliefs are discipline, respect, dedication,
and responsibility or how most students know it as D.R.D.R. However, SMSA
students are not the only ones that abide by these rules and beliefs. A well known
athlete that is a great example of this is the New York Yankees
shortstop, Derek Jeter.
According to Jeter, his success did not come overnight. His biography displays all
the hard work he went through to become the best and he started just at the age of
eight with a goal of becoming a shortstop for the New York Yankees. Jeter inspires
others to set their goals above and beyond, and if you work hard or believe in
yourself that you can achieve anything you want.
Discipline is just one of the four core beliefs and it means behavior in accord with
rules of conduct, (Dictionary.com). Throughout his career Jeter made his own rules
of do s and don ts and an example is, I always tell people that I don t like to boast and
I don t like people who brag, but I break my own rules when it comes to my
parents, (Curry 55). Instead of bragging like most players would after a win, Jeter
made his own rule that he could not brag and he followed that rule, unless it comes
to his parents of course. Jeter also followed another rule, he says, I ve always felt
that whether you re a professional athlete or a bus driver, it s better to be humble,
(Curry 130). Jeter probably follows most of the rules he makes for himself every day.
It keeps his behavior and the way he acts around others in check, by now these rules
are more of a habit/lifestyle instead of a burden.
Respect is the second core belief and its definition is esteem for or a sense of the
worth or excellence of a person, a personal quality or ability, or something
considered as a manifestation of a personal quality or ability, (Dictionary.com).
Derek had so much respect for his coaches, teammates, and especially his parents
because when he felt like quitting they were there to make sure he achieved his goal
and dream. At a young age, Jeter and his sister Sharlee were treated
The Influence of Self-Assessed Body Image on Confidence...
Research in psychology today seems to be drawn towards particular fields of
interest especially when it comes to understanding human behavior. One of the
most common research topics for social psychology is body image and the
perceptions that are related to age groups, genders, and ethnicities. Young people
today are pressured by society to make physical appearance a dominant factor in
their everyday lives, and the pressure is found not only through media influence but
friends and family as well (Pavica, 2010). These pressures can affect many different
aspects of a person s life and significantly influence their actions. The aspects affected
by body imagecan include popularity among peers, social comfort, and the attitudes
an individual... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The goal of this study is to observe how the physical state perceived by the
individual affects the psychological and emotional states that they incorporate into
their everyday lives. From the participants evaluation a greater focus will be on the
relations of self assessment to an individual s confidence and self esteem level. The
link between these aspects can possibly shed light on how decisions and lives are
altered by self interpreted appearance, specifically body image. In addition, there is
evidence which supports the theory that body image dissatisfaction affects both
genders. By creating and enhancing a positive body image, a person greatly increases
their self esteem (Ratanasiripong Burkey, 2011).
A study was conducted that asked college aged men to rate their body image either
positively or negatively, and found that self perceptions of those overweight were
indistinguishable from a similar female sample (Drewnowski Yee, 1987). The
confidence we aim to study will be an individual s personal belief in their ability to
interact with others, resulting from their positive or negative body perceptions. At
this point, it is important to give the operational definitions of all three variables.
Body image within the discussion can be conceptualized
Milkmaid Analysis Essay
The Milkmaid, painted by Johannes Vermeer, shows a woman working in the
corner of, what looks like, a kitchen. There is a large window that starts at the top
and ends about halfway down the wall that the woman is facing. To the right of the
window, there is a small black frame near the top of the wall and a woven basket
hanging under it. On the other wall, there is a metal basket with a long handle
hanging a little behind and below the woven basket. The walls are a creamy, off white
colorthat make it easier to see the nails and stains on them, and the small portion of
the floor that can be seen in the bottom right corner is a reddish brown color. The
woman is standing behind a table against the wall with a blue table cloth draped over
it and is in the middle of the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Johannes Vermeer was born in Delft in 1632 and died in Delft in 1675. Vermeer
was never famously recognized during his life, like most artists, and became more
known after his death. There are just over 30 paintings of his that are well known
today ( Vermeer Gallery ). The Milkmaid was painted by Vermeer in 1657 58 ( The
Milkmaid ). This time period was known as the Dutch Golden Age. During this time,
women carrying out domestic roles was honorable. The woman in this painting is
most likely a kitchen maid who is making a type of bread porridge with leftover
bread and milk (milkmaids milk the cows, kitchen maids worked inside). The
small wooden box on the floor in the painting is a foot heater, but was sometimes
used by kitchen maids to heat other places as well. This added on to Vermeer s
previous sexual aspects to the image of a kitchen maids in his paintings (Liedtke).
When Vermeer painted The Milkmaid, he was combining the styles of other artists
with observation and polished artistic taste. For example, Vermeer s realistic aspect
to the painting was influenced by Gerrit Dou s detailed realism
Leslie Marmon Silko s The Man To Send Rain Clouds
Ever since we can remember, the water cycle has been a part of our life. No matter
where we are, we can see the spectacle continue its infinite loop in nature. From
evaporation to the runoff that awaits to begin the cycle again, we have constantly
trained and memorized the importance and resourcefulness of the water cycle
through schooling. In Leslie Marmon Silko s The Man to Send Rain Clouds, Silko
illustrates the different stages of the water cycle symbolically throughout the story.
The first place we can catch the symbolic usage of the water cycle (mainly
evaporation) is in the first section labelled Part One . The paragraph starts out with

things they will need. The first thing they start to do to prepare is set the clothes

Levis were arranged neatly beside the pillow (Silko). In sequence with the facepaint
in section one, the brown of the flannel can represent dirt and the Levis are the
ground water buried deep within the ground. This could represent the look of nature
after precipitation, after the cycle begins to end, which I find kind of correlates with
Teofilo lifecycle.
Furthermore, in the third section is the condensation. Though the funeral ended
this is where the climax builds up the next section coming forward. The symbolism
in this section is when Louise asks for holy water to give Teofilo. About the priest
sprinkling holy water for grandpa. So he won t be thirsty, (Silko). The holy water
can represent the start of the gathering of water that defines what condensation does.
Once the priest comes to give the holy water he will then sprinkle it like
precipitation on the old man so he won t be thirsty . Hence, the reason why I say

Gloria Steinem Influence On Women s Rights
I chose the topic How did Gloria Steinem influence the discussion of women s
rights? because feminism is an interesting topic to me, and it is an overlooked topic
that should be talked about more often in society. In a society that is so dominant
by men, women think they can t change it. But, with this topic, it can show how just
a simple book, or an idea can start up an entire movement just by influencing each
other. Also, even in today s society, women do not get the things they deserve
because they are so over dominated by men. I conducted my research by first
thinking of what I wanted my topic to be on. I didn t want it to be a topic that is
common because I want my project to be something unique, not something
William Penn And The Liberty Bell Reflection
For the pin that you see above, was made using the program Adobe Photoshop CC

memories. I remember clearly, when I was just a toddler; my parents would always
take me to see the Liberty Bell. And I loved the experience! So when I stumbled
along the chance to create a pin that would proudly represent Pennsylvania, I used it. I
first went onto Google, and went to find an image or a symbol just something that
would represent Pennsylvania that everyone recognized. I was stuck choosing
between William Penn, or the Liberty Bell. After much thought and consideration, I
chose the Liberty Bell. Next, I went to find an image of the Liberty Bell. Alas, I

Summary Of Mary Wilkins Freeman s A New England Nun
Why Will Neither Joe nor Louisa Break Off the Engagement? Mary E. Wilkins
Freeman was awarded the W.D. Howells medal for fiction by the American
Academy of Arts and Letters in 1926. She had been writing for many decades prior
to this and made a name for herself in the mid 1880s. She grew up in a home of
orthodox Congregationalists and was expected to have very strict behavior. The
roles in society for women during this time are key subjects in Freeman s stories. In,
A New England Nun, Freeman expresses the pressure and constraints of the
obligation put on women to marry. The first encounter of Joe Dagget and Louisa
Ellis is so awkward. He sat bolt upright, toeing out his heavy feet squarely, glancing

Difference Between Interior Designer And Interior
Decorator
Interior Designer and Decorator in Ampang Jaya City
What is the difference between an interior designer and an interior decorator? The
difference between an interior designer and interior decorator is the fact that one is a
science and the other adorns the spaces with beatiful things. in Ampang Jaya City, as
eleswhere, the science of the interior designer is to have a clear understanding of the
way people behave, and how to ceate spaces that are functional for them. The
interior decorator in Ampang Jaya City can decorate a room with the special
creative talents they have, but they are not able to design a space. Space design s
specific to the interior designer, and the dГ©cor for the rooms are specific to the
interior decorator.
It is for this reason that the interior designer in Ampang Jaya City need to have an
education. The interior decorator does not need an education, but it would add their

Ampang Jaya City is a very modern city, and many of the interior designers and
interior decorators are well informed of what the crrent trends are. That is if you wish
to follow the latest trends.
Inspiration: One of the ways to find an interior designer or an interior decorator
Ampang Jaya City, is to be inspired by their work. You should be able to see their
work online, and even in person to see how professional they are in their projects.
Comparison: You should compare the work of at least two or three interior
designers, or interior decorators to see how their work compare to what you have in
mind. This is important especially if you are going to use both of them.
Cost Comparison: This is vital, especially, because it will affect your budget. How
much do each of them charge. Keep in mind that the interrior designer has to charge a
minimum fee set by the government. This applies to Ampang Jaya City as
Bear Hunt Illustration
The children s book We re Going on a Bear Hunt utilises the switching between black
and white illustrations and full colour effectively. The pages of the story that are in
black and white occur when the family meet an obstacle, such as long wavy grass ,
and once they have overcome said obstacle the illustration returns to colour. It repeats
in this manner throughout the picture books entirety. In doing this, the illustrator has
emphasised the texts gloominess and foreboding of what the familywill have to do (
we have to go through it ).
The way this text has been structured by combining the aperture, exposition and
inciting moment. The first sentence We re going on a bearhunt tells the reader what
the story is going to entail whilst giving away what future conflict they could be if
the family were to find a bear. The exposition is also viewed here as the reader,
with the illustrations help, knows that we (the family) are who is involved and it is
a beautiful day in the country. Conflict rises steadily on every second page revealing
a new hurdle the family has to conquer (mud, lake etc) but is resolved immediately
until the climax when the big bear is found and is not happy to see them. As the ...

engage the audience s mind with the motions of wading through a river, trudging
their way through mud and the sounds of a snow storm. This method is more
effective at engaging than simply stating the mud was squishy or the river was wet .
On a whole, the text has a good sense of rhythm and musicality. Even though the
sentences are few and short, the receptiveness and use onomatopoeic words helps
the story flow. The sounds of words increase the appeal and strength of a story (3)

Parallel Experiences of Three Troubled Women in...
Parallel Experiences of Three Troubled Women in Cunningham s, The Hours
According to Chronicles magazine, Woolf was undeniably a brilliant writer. Woolf
s work of Mrs. Dalloway was read by fifteen year old Michael Cunningham in order
to impress an older girl in school. As he stated, the book really knocked me out. Once
older, Cunningham wanted to write about Mrs. Dalloway, but thought not too many
people would want to read a book about reading a book. He then thought he might
want to read a book about reading the right book. Hence, The Hours was written.
Cunningham would incorporate Mrs. Dalloway into a book about reading a book.
The Hours weaves through three woman s lives. As the novel unfolds, it shows that
these three women ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The final narrative deals with Clarissa Vaughn. Clarissa lives in a Manhattan
apartment in the 1990s with her 19 year old daughter and lesbian lover. She is
overwhelmed with planning a party for a local poet whom she is the publisher. The
local poet, Richard, once had a relationship with Clarissa, but is now a dying
homosexual with AIDS.
When I look up the meaning of metaphors in Webster it says a figure of speech in
which a work for one idea or thing is used in place of another to suggest a likeness
between them. The Hours by Michael Cunningham is enriched with many complex
metaphors. While intertwining three different woman s lives, Cunningham uses a
wide range of metaphors to help mean something in one story and tie into the next
woman s story. Using deconstructive interpretation to investigate these strategically
placed metaphors can be difficult and exciting, yet challenging.
The flow of the novel starts as Woolf finds the opening line of her new novel: Mrs.
Dalloway decided she would buy the flowers herself. The flowers would proof an
important metaphor in the book. This thought of buying the flowers herself would
link Woolf and Clarissa. Clarissa states the same words to her lover in preparing
for Richard s party. And yet the flowers would reappear in Laura Browns life as her
husband buys flowers for his own birthday. Flowers that normally represent life and
color ironically represent sadness and loneliness in this novel.

Analysis Of The Poem The Selkie Cave
The Selkie swam into his undersea cave that contained his human clothing. Last
evening he d had a vision he would find his life mate in the area above the sea
caves. He needed to find her as his vision was too strong to disregard. She was a
well built sturdy young Scot lass with sparkling green eyes and long dark auburn
hair which flowed to her waist. He had seen her in his dream, dancing at the local
Highland Gathering. The young woman in his dreams was Mackenzie Sutherlands
destiny. He strode into the clan gathering, he noticed her dancing a Highland Fling
with her kilt and hair whipping around her tight young body. Her smile flashed as
she moved to the intricate steps of her dance. Her cheeks flushed and her eyes
blazed with a heat which drew him like a moth to a flame. Around and around she
swirled and kicked to the music of the bagpipes. As she spun around, he could see
her beautiful long legs and the sweet curve of her rounded bottom. Her waist, he
realized he could circle with his hands. Her bust was full and appeared to be a
plump handful. Her complexion was pale as peaches he d read about in books
from her world. While he enjoyed her dance, passion heated his blood, and
Mackenzie recognized she was the young woman from his dream. Skye loved the
dancing and the way she felt as the men s eyes remained on her. In her young girl s
mind, she understood the power she held over them. She viewed the young dark
haired stranger who watched her with a
Chinese Culture In Australia
Chinese and Europeans have both migrated to Australia for many different reasons.
Both cultures have changed and adapted to better suit this country, yet their cultures
remain vastly different. The main difference in culture is regarding the family.
Traditionally, both Chinese and European cultureshared a similar view of gender
roles: that the male was the breadwinner, and the female looked after the home and
family. In Australia, it seems gender roles for both are changing with time and are
now determined by individual family preference rather than traditional culture (Metro
South Health. 2015).
European Australian, or western, values are believed to be an extension of rights to
the individual. In comparison the Chinese, place more value on the ... Show more

These values are identified as autonomy, intimacy, aspiration and acceptance. They
touch on the individual s ability for self direction, a need for love, friendship and
social acceptance. They also touch on an individual s ambition regarding success and
achievements. These values reflect the needs of individuals, and do not take
communal or familial needs into account.
Historically, English couples were expected to build their own home, living
separately to their parents. Due to this practice, it is a widely believed myth, that in
Australia, extended families are not held in high regard. A survey conducted by the
Australian institute of family studies, showed that physical and emotional support
was utilised both to and from extended family and that frequent contact with
extended family takes place in approximately 66% of families. The use of cars and
phones make keeping in contact much easier, even though families may be spread out
geologically.
The four main family values in Chinese culture are achieving security and prosperity,
respect and filial piety, harmony and importance of family. All these values strive to
ensure the families stability and

The Time Of The Butterflies
Isabella Czech

Dr. Ortiz Villarelle
November 5, 2015
Rafael Trujillo, a Dominican dictator, developed a harsh reputation as being one of
the most violent and domineering leaders of South America in his thirty one years of
power. In The Time of the Butterflies, Julia Alvarez provides insight into the effects
of Trujillo s infamy by sharing the stories of three Dominican sisters and their
struggles to gain independence and speak their truth. The Dominican American
author dramatizes the lives of the Mirabal sisters, three historical women who were
assassinated in 1961, for their involvement in the anti Trujillo movement. Roberto
Gonzalez Echevarria, a Cuban critic of Latin American literature, provides a bias
insight with regards to the novel.
This critique written by Roberto Gonzalez Echevarria of In the Time of the
Butterflies focuses mainly on the political facts that are not apparent in the novel. He
states that Alvarez makes her novel appear blurry, not making it a serious historical
fiction. However, the critical commentary that Echevarria made would not necessarily
apply to the film due to the fact that Alvarez s intentions are to initially expose
readers to life in the Dominican Republic under the control of Trujillo, rather than
have it be a serious historical fictional novel with facts and real life events. In fact,
the film focused more on the historical aspect of this time period unlike Alvarez s
novel. It provided slow motion slide shows of Trujillo s
The Theory Of Intelligence And Scientific Evidence
Although most people will propose the question, plant s do not have a brain, therefor
how could one consider them as intelligent organisms? , while they are anatomically
correct, determining whether or not plants actually are intelligent beings depends
solely on how one defines the word, intelligent. Ironically, the definition of
intelligence is so vague and difficult to describe that even one provided by Miriam
Webster s dictionary contains the word intelligent on three separate occasions.
Accounting for the lack of substance in this definition, a new one was born;
intelligence is the ability to solve problems, interact with other beings and
surrounding, and work in groups. According to this definition of intelligence and
scientific evidence, plants are very intelligent. Similar to the way in which human
beings evaluate a problem and brainstorm solutions, plants are also very astute
problem solvers. Because plants are sedentary, they have to create innovative ways to
live and reproduce. While plants cannot simply get up and walk away when they
dislike their environments, they change the way they grow to optimize their growth
(Clark UGS Lecture, Plant Intelligence). Plants have the ability to generate their own
food source, making them self sustaining organisms, rather than having to rely on
other organisms for nutrients. One way that plants optimize their growth is through
photosynthesis or growing away from shaded areas to catch the light every time

people with their legal troubles in the civil or criminal area, therefore, it is important
to analyze the educational requirements, job responsibilities, travel opportunities, and
salary before entering the career field.
The educational requirements of a lawyer are to have a bachelor s and juris doctor

What does veteran mean? Most people will simply mention they are no longer in

service men and women are the backbone of this country. Therefore, because of our
veterans, we have a safe country to call our home and something more than great to
be proud of. Undeniably, these amazing people do a great deal for us and this
country. They do more than just fight for us. They take risks that no one else has the

agent, discovered the book after going through her slush pile, without hesitation, Park

Another strength in this movie was the plot. Without a good plot, there would be
no point to the movie. The last and final strength in The Notebook is emotion. This
film takes one through every motion imaginable. As for examples, when Allie and
Noah split, the emotional response automatically takes a tole on someone. It s as
if, your actually apart of the movie. In the book, Allison and Noah met in 1932, at
the time Allison was 15 and Noah was 17. But in the movie, they met in the year of
1940, where they both were around the same age of 17. According to Cassavetes,
(unsolved), this movie was filmed in South Carolina because of its 1040 s look.
Allison and Noah meet at a carnival, where Allison is very fond of Noah. With love
in the air, they spent the rest of the night together until the carnival was over.
However, in the movie, Noah became infatuated with Allison, and went to the
extreme of insanity by jumping on the ferry s wheel to ask her out. Noah plays
remarkable in both and just makes the audience fall in love with his character. With
most summer romances follows heartache. As for Noah and Allison, their fairytale
love weren t excluded. When the summer ended, Allison had to return back home,
leaving Noah behind. With heartache comes conflict, according to the movie, Allison
and Noah got into a huge fight before she left, which ultimately lead them regretting
the whole disagreement. Nicolas Sparks, captured this moment perfectly,
Prehistoric Egyptian Pyramids
To finish my topic of history, I explained a little about types of burials. Like I
mentioned with the pyramids, the types of burials evolved over time. In Prehistoric
Egypt, bodies were buried in the desert because they would naturally be preserved
by dehydration. The graves were small oval or rectangular pits dug in the sand.
Along with the deceased body, small tokens were placed with the body which the
Egyptiansbelieved would be transported with the deceased into the afterlife. These
tokens could include a few jars of food and drink or anything else that the deceased
family believed he or she would need in the afterlife. Overtime the size of the graves
eventually increase but this depended greatly on the status and wealth of the deceased
An Organization Good Security System
The process of footprinting is the first step to gather information of hackers. To
prevent a successful attack we need to obtain as much information possible, the
hackers will try to learn everything and all the aspects possible from the perspective
organization s security posture, their profile of their Internet their remote access
capabilities and intranet/extranet presence (Scambray, McClure, and Kurtz 2001).
Any good or successful hacker will build their information database about any
company security weakness. But the question that we should ask ourselves is, should
be prepare in advance for any attack? Should we know our weakness way in advance
to prepare ourselves? And the answer would be yes, which means the security

This report will focus on security of Amazon Company and will look at how
security posture of the company will be done and solved. Footprinting is a process
of using various tools and technologies to understand, learn the best to attack a main
target. Any hacker, or attacker will try to find out as much as possible without
actually giving themselves away, they will find public information or appear as
normal internet users. Again the hacker or attacker will look up and find as much
information as possible about the network, and the domain name of the company he
is searching to find information. He the hacker will try to obtain information about
the network blocks, any particular IP address, any network protocols in use by the
company, IDSs (Intrusion Detection System), telephone numbers, ACLs (Access
Control Lists). Remember hacker use this information to attack, the security
personnel can and will use it to strengthen their security stance.
We need to look for locations, related companies, and merger or acquisition news,
telephone numbers, contacts names and email addresses, any privacy or security
policies indicating the types of security mechanisms in place they have, any links to
other web servers related to the main organization. Amazon is a company that has

Theme Of Manhood In A Raisin In The Sun
Throughout the play A Raisin in the Sun by Larraine Hansberry, one theme is
persistent and that is the theme of manhood. Manhood has the ability to be defined
in many different ways depending on the person and the situations that they
currently face. This statement parallels the play as each man in the story has a
different idea manhood and how they should carry themselves. This play also
brings in the idea that manhood can change within oneself to accommodate a new
situation. The three main ideas of manhood in the play stem from two characters,
one idea from Joseph Asagai, and the others from Walter Lee Younger. Joseph
Asagai s definition of manhood is being close to one s roots and being able to
better one s community. Walter Lee Younger s begins the play believing manhood
is being able to provide for your family and later in the play it switches to being
able to protect and stand up for your family. At the beginning of the play Walter
Lee younger believes that manhood stems from being able to provide for one s
family. We first encounter Walter s concept of manhood when he and Ruth are
arguing over breakfast and Walter says, I m thirty five years old; I been married
eleven years and I got a boy who sleeps in the living room and all I got to give him
is stories about how rich white people live... (Hansberry 478). This begins to show
his ideas because it shows that he is getting older and he still cannot provide for his
family. One thing that might hurt Walter the most
Compare The Arguments Against Autonomous Weapons
In order to understand autonomous weapons, one must understand the basis of
artificial intelligence (A.I.). At their very core, A.I.s are algorithms (a step by step
procedure based off of mathematical data) that can handle tasks which human
intelligence requires. This means they are able to do reasoning tasks like problem
solving, prediction, diagnosis, and so forth. On the contrary, the A.I.s portrayed in
films and fantasy novels often involves machines that demonstrate human level
intelligence. To put this into perspective, there is a scenario where an A.I. is
assigned to drive a car from point A to point B with a separate car accident between
the points. A realistic A.I. would still try to drive the car from point A to point B
because its... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Stuart Russell, the director of the Center for Intelligent Systems at the University
of California, Berkeley, raises two points to consider as support to banning
autonomous weapons: developing A.I. weapons better than human soldiers and
the availability of A.I. weapons (Russell, 2015). To put differently, human soldiers
can decide whether or not to shoot someone like a civilian in an extreme
environment. An A.I. weapon would only act within its algorithm. So unless the
algorithm accounts for every possible scenario, it will produce unfavorable results.
However, a game theoretical formulation by G. Arslan and J.S. Shamma
invalidates this. Russell stated an A.I. is restricted by its algorithm, so it cannot
like a human in complex scenarios. But here, it s possible for the A.I. to make
much more complex decisions with negotiation mechanisms. An example of this
is a young boy, strapped with a bomb, walking towards a squad of soldiers. The
soldiers are preoccupied with other things, so they did not notice the boy. The
autonomous turret, near the soldiers, recognizes the explosives and prepares to
shoot the hostile. The turret s A.I. is only able to distinguish the difference
between lethal and nonlethal targets. However, if a drone with an A.I. built to
identify age was there, it can prompt a more favorable scenario. It can stop the
turret s A.I. from killing the boy and proceed to two different courses of action.
The turret s A.I. can shoot the boy in a nonlethal spot to neutralize him or alert the
soldiers of an incoming child. From there, the soldiers can either talk some reason
to the kid or disable him. Referencing back to Arkin s point, this is considered the
optimal level of human control. The A.I.s makes it easier to accomplish certain goals
but the hard decisions are left for humans to make. Also, this allows for more human
control in a sense since there are more algorithms
Case Study on Compartment Syndrome
A Case Study on Compartment Syndrome of the Forearm in a soccer player
Objective: To describe the evaluation, diagnosis, and current treatment of a men s
soccer player with compartment syndrome of the forearm.
Background: The forearm is the most common site for compartment syndrome in the
upper extremity. The compartments of the forearm include the volar (anterior or
flexor), and the dorsal (posterior or exterior). Both bone forearm fractures and distal
radius fractures are common initial injuries that lead to acute forearm compartment
syndrome. The flexor digitorum profundus and flexor pollicis longus are among the
most severely affected muscles because of their deep location, closest to the bone.

Acute compartment syndrome is a medical emergency. It is usually cause by a severe
injury. And without treatment, it can lead to permanent muscle damage. Chronic
compartment syndrome, also known as exertional compartment syndrome, is usually
not an emergency. This is most often caused by an athletic exertion. Because the
fascia does not stretch, this can cause increase pressure on the capillaries, nerves and
muscles in the compartment. The blood flow to the muscle and nerve cells is
disrupted. Without a steady supply of oxygen and nutrients, the nerve and muscle
cells can be damaged. Compartment syndrome most often occurs in the anterior
compartment of the lower leg. But can also be present in other compartments in the
leg, as well as the arms, hands, feet and buttocks. The pain and swelling of chronic
compartment syndrome is caused by exercise. Athletes who participant in activities
with repetitive motions, such as running, biking, or swimming, are more likely to
develop chronic compartment syndrome. This is usually relieved by discontinuing
the exercise and is usually not dangerous. Acute compartment syndrome usually
develops after a severe injury such as a broken bone. Rarely does it develop after a
relatively minor injury. Conditions that may bring on acute compartment syndrome
include: a fracture, badly bruised muscle, reestablished blood flow after block
circulation, or constricting bandages. The classic sign of acute
The Effects Climate Change Has on Agriculture and
Livestock
Climate change is one of the major issues surfacing earth over the past century. The
earth s temperature has increased over the years; having effects on the economic and
life sources of people, especially through agricultural production and livestock s.
According to the Oxford dictionary, climate change is a change in global climate
patterns apparent from the mid late 20th century. There are numerous factors that are
solely responsible for this change which are both natural and man made causes.
Climate changehas led to a decrease in quality and quantity of plant produce and
livestock as a result of heat stress, drought and an increase in diseases.
According to Health and Safety executive, HSE, UK, heat stress is a component of
climate change that causes the body temperature to fail , and is a global problem
which affects agriculture and livestock. The effect of heat stress on Livestock s has
become greater for animals such as dairy cows and beef cattle. When animals are
under distress due to temperature rise, they usually cut back on their feeding
practices; have a rise in body temperature and faces weight loss. Milk production,
milk fat, protein content and the progression of breeding has been also affected,
especially in dairy cows. When heat stress occurs, dairy cows tend to reduce the
intake of dry matter in order to control their heat production from increasing through
the process of metabolism and digestion (M. Donnelly, 2012). The University of
Minnesota noted that
Different Training Methods Are Affective
Some of the different training methods are affective in there own way, but can they
be used for continuing employees? One of the great perks of having the business
simulation is that it can be used for all employees, new and seasoned, to be able to
develop further knowledge. With simulations they do not all have to be complex, like
having all the business processes of the organization. The simulation could simply
have specific skills related to them. These concepts could include communication,
feedback, leadership and team skills, problem solving, decision making, managing
resources, budgeting, and the list continues. Essentially every department can have its
own business simulation game to learn the processes necessary. This allows the
company to move individuals internally and allow for growth within the company.
Say they have an individual who has been doing accounting for the company and
want to promote them to finance manger, they can use a business simulation game to
have them better understand the tasks they will be performing as a finance manager
before having them go into it blind. Another example could be that the company has
noticed there is some lack of communication going on between the manager and his
employees. The simulator could enhance the mangers understanding of how to
communicate stronger, which can improve the satisfaction of employees. Being able
to take the simulation and adjust it to the necessary processes that the company is
looking to use for
Essay on Dating Anxiety
Dating Anxiety
Have you ever been really stressed about something? Think of the time when you
have been the most stressed out. Multiply that to the 10th power and you have me
before a date. It seems to me dating and stress are like salt and pepper; you almost
never have one without the other. Endless anticipations flood your mind, making it
almost impossible to keep a continuous train of thought. The worst thing about dating
is that you get seriously stressed out for one lousy night. It s enough to turn a sane
mind into a basket case. So much energy is put into preparing for a night that ends
up being pretty lame. One thing is for sure; dating is not worth the stress it brings.
Here are some examples of typical stresses you are faced ... Show more content on

Tension is filling the house so you decide to wait outside.
While waiting for your date you get ambushed by mosquitoes. Now your arms are
covered in itchy red bumps that will be nagging at you the entire evening. By the
time your date finally arrives, your hair has turned into a frizzy rat s nest from
waiting in the humidity, not to mention you are in the worst mood possible. You get
in the car trying to fake a genuine smile and just when you start to chill out and relax
the next issue is faced: where to go.
Of course your date leaves this crucial decision entirely up to you. After thinking
through all of the spots you like to go to, you pick one that seems to suit you both.
Unfortunately, you picked the place where your date s ex girlfriend likes to go. So
you spend the whole evening trying to spark a good conversation as your date
jealously eyeballs all the guys his ex is flirting with. After you realize the night is
not going to get any better, you get the tab and ask your date for a ride home. Just
when you think it s over and you re in the clear, you arrive at the most awkward
situation of the evening: saying goodnight.
Tradition says that there must be a kiss before the night is officially over, but there is

From as long as I can remember I have always used the internet to do my book
reports or any other writing assignment that involved research. Anything that does
involve online research it only takes a minimum amount of time to find what you
are looking for and incredibly easy to find the answers to the questions one is looking
for. Now a day s not only is it easy you have a guide on your phone and computer
such as Siri, Cortana and Bixby, to help you. All you have to do is ask your device a
question and they go through the web and find the best sites fitted to answer the
question asked or give the direct answer.
The problem with being able to easily obtain information is not knowing if it is true
or not and being able to separate opinion from fact that it has a credible resource to
it, that is a disadvantage. The reason it is a disadvantage is because when doing
assignments and the directions ask for a credible resource you don t want to put
down just any resource that got looked up. The site used needs to have an author or
author s whose name can be credited for the information that was borrowed to write
the paper. If there was not an author on a web page that was used then one
Ways In Which Energy Intake Can Be Measured Analysis
Ways in which Energy Intake can be Measured:
The two types of energy intakes that are measured are calories and joules, with
calories being the imperial system and joules being the metric system. However,
these units are too small unit of energy, so therefore kilojoules and kilocalories are
used more regularly.
Calories and kilocalories are the same the only thing is that calories are multiplied by
1000 to create kilocalories. A caloriecan be shortened down to just Cal, whilst
kilocalories are shortened down to kcal. This works as it is measured in the change
of temperature, so 1 calorie is the energy required to heat 1 gram of water by 1oC
and then for kilocalories it is the same, the same can be said for kilocalories except it

This means that to burn fat stores you would have to break down the fats by doing
lower intensity training but for a more prolonged period of time, as oxygen is
needed to break it down. Finally, 1 gram of fat contains 9 kcal, which is more than
double of that of protein and carbohydrates.
Protein can also be an energy store even though it is not a preferred source of
energy, as it is usually used for the growth and repair of muscles. However, protein
can be used as a source of energy in prolonged periods of exercise and especially
near the end of endurances races, like in iron man competitions and marathons, as the
fat and carbohydrate stores within the muscles become low, so protein has to be used
as a last resort.
Calorimetry:
Calorimetry is a processed used to measure the amount of energy there is in a food,
where heat is produced depending upon how much energy is in the food. This
works by burning the food, which will create an exothermic reaction and will heat
the container of water, which will provide a measurement for the amount of energy
in each food. The calculation for this is for every 1oC of temperature change per
1ml of water, there is 1 calorie (Jennings [ONLINE]). There would be a similar from
of calorimetry used commercially just higher tech and that s how we get our
labelling of food packets.

Confederation History
It all started after the declaration of independence during the time America was busy
fighting the revolutionary war when Congress realized that they needed to form a
plan to move forward and unite the thirteen states as a nation. It was then when
continental congress met up in Pennsylvania and created a secured a document
known as the articles of confederation. The article of confederation was written on
November 15, 1777, and ratified by all thirteen states on March 1, 1781. When the
articles of confederation were written it had many goals in mind to set and preserve
the country and its freedom keeping America and independent nation. Since the states

The Federalists and the Antifederalists took opposite sides when discussing how
power and government should be divided. The Federalist were those who believed in
the constitution and believed that change needs to happen. A nation without a
national government is no nation at all , is what is said about the beliefs that the
Federalist had. The Federalist believed that the country needed a strong government
made up of experienced and intelligent minds that have long term goals in mind to
run a country rather than a state, making the business of government no longer just
viewed at as local making each state their own. It was time to conjoin together the
states and make the country a whole. However, then come along the Antifederalist
who had an opposite view on the situation. The Antifederalist believed that the
country shouldn t have a strong national government that has so much power to be
able to govern the states. The reason why the Antifederalist thought so strongly in
their belief was because of the experience they had with great Britain, they didn t
want to lose everything they worked so hard to earn; letting the national government
just take their precious livelihood their farms and land and all that they worked for to
build a comfortable life for themselves. The Antifederalist believed that the

Confederate Loss
The Loss The Battle of Gettysburg was the most brutal battle in the American
Civil War. Many people consider this the turning point of the Civil War, for every
major battle prior to this won by the Confederate Army, led under the famous
Robert E. Lee. In the span of three days in the town of Gettysburg, Pennsylvania,
the Union Army persevered and won. There were many men at fault for the
Confederate loss, however the only person to fully blame is the cavalry leader
J.E.B. Stuart. He was in the wrong by not doing his job; Stuart failed to give the
position of the Union Army before the battle, he failed to give the information
necessary during the battle, and he failed to re enforce the Confederate army. J.E.B.

Stuart failed his job. Advancing through the North, General Robert E. Lee depended
on Stuart to report information about the terrain of the unfamiliar land and the
movement of the Army of the Potomac (Union). Lee s purpose for invading the
North was to utterly destroy the Union army and have a devastating win to end the
war. At this point, General Lee and his army were running low on provisions.
Stuart, instead of gathering essential information, was joy riding in the North
causing great commotion. If it had not been for a paid spy by the name of
Harrison, the Confederates would have surely been blind in enemy territory.
Harrison gave the size of the Union Army, as well as which direction the army was
going. All roads converged at Gettysburg, so Lee thought it was the best place to
strike. Also, Harry Heth, a division commander who some blame for the lost of
Gettysburg, would not have attacked until the Confederate army assembled, for they
would have known what they were up against. The Confederate army at full strength
could have easily won the battle on day one; however, Stuart s absence almost lost
the battle before it even
Counter Hegemonic Ideologies In Bloody Sunday
As Allan John explained in his excerpt on the system of patriarchy, society is
constantly being shaped by the interaction between the systems and the participation,
whether consciously or unconsciously, of all individuals in the society. Those who
perpetuate the system buy into the hegemonic ideologies, or the status quo, and those
who actively seek to challenge the status quo embrace counter hegemonic ideologies.
In 2013, a clash of ideologies towards current state of racism put the necessity of the
Voting Rights Act under the scrutiny of the Supreme Court. In Shelby v Holder
(2013), the Supreme Court ruled Section Four of the Voting Rights Act of 1965
unconstitutional and no longer relevant since our country has changed. Oppositions

Martin Luther King, Jr., the leader of SCLC, and SNCC went into Selma and started
nonviolent demonstrations that drew the attention of nationwide media and exposed
the injustice of the structural barriers that continued to exist in the Southern states. In
the video Bridge to Freedom, the video clips of Bloody Sunday showed the protestors
peaceful attempt to cross the bridge to begin the march to Montgomery was met with
large scale violence, and many were beaten and teargassed into unconsciousness. ,
The escalation of violence can be described as the backlash of hegemony as those
who wanted to protect their own interests turned to violence in a desperate attempt to
maintain the status quo. However, instead of quelling the counter hegemonic
movements, the escalation of violence caught the attention of the media and the
footages of violent policemen beating peaceful protestors were able to reach the
nation. These footages undoubtedly shocked the nation because many living in the
Northern states were disconnected and ignorant to the situation in the South. As
Johnson states in his excerpt, individuals who are ignorant of the social issue
unconsciously perpetuates the system. Here, we see the importance of media in its
ability to enlighten and inspire those who were ignorant to start actively stand up
against the system of white supremacy. We also see the significance of counter
hegemonic movements as their efforts paved way for the Voting Rights Act, which
was signed into law by President Lyndon Johnson in March 1965. The passing of the
Voting Rights Act was a step closer to dismantling the system of white supremacy,
however, not everyone viewed the Voting Rights Act as a favorable
A Holiday Essay Holiday
Holiday Essay Have you ever had to leave a party because your dad was fully ready
to cause serious bodily harm? I have. Every year we would go to two Fourth of
July parties; now we go to one. I think everyone who has celebrated the holiday has
at least one memory of the time something went haywire during Independence Day.
Lots of people party on the Fourth of July and things tend to go wrong every now
and then but it does not usually stop people from partying. In our case it did hinder
the festivities. What could have happened that was so bad that we quit going? This is
the story of the time a drunk man shot fireworksat children. Fourth of July is a big
holiday for many Americans. We celebrate the anniversary of the signing of the
Declaration of Independence from England in 1776. Most people celebrate by
watching firework displays or setting of some themselves, if the weather and laws
permit. America is a nation full of pyromaniacs. Who could blame us? Fire is fun.
Fire is not the only fun thing about the Fourth though. Cookouts and parties are
common, as is alcohol. Sometimes accidents happen when pyrotechnics and
alcohol mix, such as: destroyed property, like a shirt catching an ember and having
a hole burned through it, fires if the wind spends a spark dancing into a tree or
some grass, missing fingers (do not hold firecrackers, I repeat do not hold
firecrackers), and burns, sometimes, even if you do everything right, something could
still go wrong. Some people find
Minors And Social Media
Minors all over the world have accomplished great things using social media, but
majority of minors use it to be unproductive and mean. Sadly social media is full of
negative comments that can potentially affect a persons life. The increase in use of
technology and social media has decreased minors productivity and therefore
increased obesity. Minors should not have access to social media, because its
taking over their lives and therefore bringing them bad consequences. Social media
has no way to confirm a persons age, name or true appearance. According to a study
about 80% of Americans lie about their and spice up their accounts when creating

Sites like Google, Ask, Yahoo and many others will answer any question. These
sites often help minors with their homework, some sites will even provide all the
answers to the entire assignment. The availability of sites like these minors slack
on their work. Minors won t worry about their homework until the last minute.
Minors know the answers to their homework are on the internet, therefore no effort
or actual thinking is put to it. Social media does not only encourage slacking, but it
also brings no good to their health, they re not being productive at all. Social media
has many interesting things. Things raging from videos, games, movies and
personalized accounts, there s something for everyone. Many people are and
others can get addicted to social media and its contents. People can spend an entire
day hooked on their screen without noticing. Social media is now a big
contribution and a reason for the increase of obesity, people prefer to stay home
using social media instead of socializing outside of it. Social media can be a great
source of help and start of many new inventions. On the other side when social
media usage is abused there s bad results. Over usage of social media can affect a
persons sense of sight, the radiation of a phone can even cause cancer. Social
media just like drugs can get addicting and affect a persons life. When a person
abuses of social media many complications may come to their life. Problems like
depression due to isolation and disconnecting from the world when using social
media to sickness due to lack of sleep for using it rather than

His effectiveness rests on the fact that he has developed the practical essence of
Marxism to a pitch of clarity and concreteness never before achieved. He has
rescued this aspect of Marxism from an almost total oblivion and by virtue of this
theoretical action he has once again placed in our hands the key to a right
understanding of Marxist method. For it is our task and this is the fundamental
conviction underlying this book to understand the essence of Marx s method and
to apply it correctly. In no sense do we aspire to improve on it. If on a number of
occasions certain statements of Engels are made the object of a polemical attack
this has been done, as every perceptive reader will observe, in the spirit of the
system as a whole. On these particular points the author believes, rightly or wrongly,
that he is defending orthodox Marxism against Engels himself. We adhere to Marx s
doctrines, then, without making any attempt to diverge from them, to improve or
correct them. The goal of these arguments is an interpretation, an exposition of Marx
s theory as Marx understood it. But this orthodoxy does not in the least strive to
preserve what Mr. von Struve calls the aesthetic integrity of

Rammelkamp Chapel. Paula John Kasica performed on the flute and percussion with
Nancy Shaaf accompanying on the piano. This was my first time attending a live
classical music concert. I didn t know what to expect. My limited experiences with
classical musicwere listening while I studied or using it to fall asleep at night.
Honestly, I worried that I might fall asleep during the concert. As it turns out, I had
no reason to fret. I brought my two nieces (Mackenzie and Naylani) and my
daughter (Talia) along with me to the concert. My girls asked me what to expect and
I had no answers for them. The flutist introduced herself and asked if we played...

Hopelessly, we searched the forest for the man that was no longer there as the
haunting melody played. Suddenly, the percussion began and we envisioned our hero
dashing in to save us. Our bodies swayed to the rhythm as we saw Ariadne and
Dionysius triumphantly dancing. The Suite Antique prelude brought us back from
the forest and enthralled us with the playing of the instruments. Naylani began lifting
her arms as though she were playing the flute herself, mimicking the actions of the
flutist and the movements of her body as she drew breaths to play. I watched as the
pianist s fingers moved eloquently. Soon, my fingers strummed upon my knee in my
own attempts to replicate the piano playing. As the ostinato took over the stage, our
spirits lifted as the music became full of life. Before I knew it, Naylani was
dancing like a woodland fairy and having such a good time. Laughter spread as she
began playing the flute again as she danced. The aria brought back the slow and
soothing music from before and we watched as the artists played. Our gazes were
on the instruments of choice as we dreamed of ourselves playing the pieces we were
hearing. Feelings of peace and relaxation developed our bodies as we simply enjoyed
the music.
Reminiscent of Charlie Brown theme song, we imagined an episode as the waltz
played. Charlie Brown walked along as Lucy held a football in hopes of jerking it
away at the
A Research Study On Poliomyelitis
David Caballero

Ms. Cooper
Poliomyelitis has been around for a long time but the first clinical description of
the disease was in 1789, by an English physician named Michael Underwood. The
death to case ratio is 2% 5% in children and 15% 30% for adults. Even though the
number of deaths of Polio have come to a screeching halt 3,145 people died in 1952
due to the worst outbreak in the United States s history. Poliomyelitis poses a minimal
yet dangerous threat to humanity. Researchers and scientists have been largely
successful in finding a cure for this disease. Looking to the future, the biggest
concern is the eradication of this disease to be slowed. The effects of this disease are
very harmful but are not easily transmitted. There are three different types of
infections which include subclinical, nonparalytic, and paralytic. Patients with
subclinical polio may not have any symptoms or have mild symptoms that may last
72 hours or less. A few symptoms that can result in the subclinical polio infection
can be general discomfort or uneasiness, headache and slight fever, or red throat,
slight throat, and lastly vomiting. (NIH). Then patients who have managed to
contract nonparalytic polio will not become paralyzed if they are infected with it.
Some symptoms can be fever, sore throat, headache, vomiting, meningitis, and
fatigue. While it may vary a few more serious symptoms can be back pain or
stiffness, neck pain or stiffness, pain or
Vegetarians Vs. Fad Diets
How will you feel after gaining back the weight you spend money toward? Well,
Fad diets have been around for a very long time, based mostly on half truths and
wishful thinking of the authors. Some may have a bit of science to back them up,
but the diets are so restrictive and difficult, no one can stick to them. Losing
weight temporarily on a fad diet does not equal success. Diet success is defined as
keeping that weight off permanently. If a fad diet is impossible to follow for very
long, you ll just re gain all the weight. And much of the weight lost on extremely low
calorie fad dietsis water. UCLA associate professor of psychology and lead author
Traci Mann said You can initially lose 5 to 10 percent of your weight on any number

Tchaikovsky Research Paper
Once being presented with this opportunity to write this paper I found it as a
wonderful opportunity to express my opinion on two different musical greats. The
one that I decided to choose for the old would have to be Tchaikovsky, and for the
new by far my favorite choice would be the beetles. The selection of these two
specific artist was almost a no brainer for me, they embody the perfect blend of
inspirational musicthat delivers a specific, yet powerful message, both artist belong
to different genres one from a classical genre and one from a more modern form of
music. Also, both these artists viewed music regardless of the genre as a form of
communicating a message to the masses, in the beetles era war was occurring in the
world and in terms of Tchaikovsky he was one of the best ballet composers of his...

The modern group the beetles did get influenced in a way by baroque music of the
classic composers, in todays era it is known a baroque rock music, which in many
ways is used in both pop and rock music in todays modern music. Lastly, todays
music has most probably become shorter because in a way we have become addicted
to skipping music and not remaining focused on one specific song for way to long, in
other words we easily get bored of a certain song and we no longer feel the need to
listen to it any longer, if todays music was as long as classical music I believe that it
would not be very popular with any generation, and thus causing music to no be very
relevant in todays society. In conclusion, it was a wonderful experience being able to
bring to light two different musical greats, who many believe have no relevancy with
each other, but through my eyes relevancy can be found in many different places
even in those that seem
Cost Of Quality Care Essay
Understanding the Costs of Quality Care There are a number of reasons behind
the rising costs of healthcare and it s up to the provider to discuss the reasons why.
The word, value, is not coined to lure patients into practices, but rather as a means
to show them measured outcomes. Providers can use specific tactics to clear up
blurred lines between the cost and quality of healthcare. Having an understanding
of why cost increases are occurring is frustrating to patients, but information can be
provided to help alleviate these feelings. When providers focus on value, they are
able to help patients understand costs and how they relate to quality of care.
Because there are blurry lines between quality and cost of care, providers can work
on several tactics to help clear things up. Cost Increases the Relation to Quality Care

What does this mean to the consumer who eventually becomes the patient? First,
they must have an understanding of why these costs are increasing. Next, they
need to grasp how these increase relate to their quality of care. According to the
Harvard Business Review, The aging of populations and the development of new
treatments are behind some of the increase. One of the biggest issues patients face,
though, is higher cost don t always equal the highest level of care. Quality Care
Begins With Value There is not should here with regards to the deliverance of
quality of and value. Provides doing this will see defined framework not only for the
performance within their practice, but for how much it is driving progress as well.
Value is not a word coined to drive patients into practices, but one defined to show
them proven results through measured outcomes. While this is still a misunderstood
concept within many practices, that doesn t mean it isn t something that can t easily
be translated into quality of care and its relation to cost measurement. Un Blur the
How Climate Affect Eurasia
The Europeans had a climate where they were able to grow productive crops and
domesticate animals, creating a surplus of food, freeing some people from food
production to become specialists who were able to create advanced tools and
weaponry. Because the Europeans had time, steel, and immunity to smallpox, due to
their exposure to domesticated animals, they could decimate populations, appropriate
there resources, and conquer the world. The first inequality that geography caused
was the development of agriculturein areas such as Eurasia, versus the lack of
development in places such as Papua New Guinea. Geographic location changes what
crops can grow by affecting the climate of the given area. The climate then affects
what plants can grow... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In order for animals to live in an area, two basic needs have to be met by that
location. First, the climate in that area must conform with the climate the specific
species needs to survive. As explained previously, the climate of an area relates to
its geographic location. This is why animals such as polar bears live in Antarctica
and Alaska, areas farther from the equator, which have less sunlight and less
warmth. The second requirement is that there has to be food which the animal is
able to digest. Animals such as cows, which depend on grass for food, would not
be able to live in an arid or desert like environment. Grass just isn t going to grow
there. This means that areas which have prime conditions for containing
domesticable animals, which just so happened to be Eurasia, have a significant
advantage in the form of technological development over areas which don t have
the right climate or the right foods to sustain domesticated animals. Because these
animals provided a sustainable source of food, as well as performing farming tasks
such as pulling plows, they gave societies with domesticable animals access to a
very important resource, time. With that, these societies were able to develop
concepts such as art and to sustain specialists. Not all animals can be domesticated.
They have to be able to cooperate with humans and make economic sense. In order
for a species to be domesticable, it has to have the inclination to not attack or eat
humans, otherwise, the species could be dangerous to domesticate. Along with that
comes the ability to actually control the species. A species has to have a hierarchy
like social structure in order for humans to be able to control a whole pack of
animals, which is much more sensible than trying to train every individual animal.
They also need to be economically sensible.
Combination Padlock Research Paper
Description of a Combination Padlock General Description Combination padlocks
are most commonly used anywhere that provide lockers. There are many different
brands of combination padlocks but each of them are roughly the same design
they can be as simple or as complexed as wanted. This lock is simple to use and has
very few parts. Usually when using a combination padlock you will have a set of
three random numbers to dial in. The highest number that the combination will go

The Strategic Logic of Suicide Terrorism by Pape, Bloom,...
Terrorism involves the use of violence by an organization other than a national
government to cause intimidation or fear among a target audience; at least, this is
how Pape (2003) defines terrorism in his article The Strategic Logic of Suicide
Terrorism (343). The goal of this article by Pape is to discuss suicide terrorism and
how it follows a strategic logic, one specifically designed to coerce modern liberal
democracies to make significant territorial concessions (343). Similar to Pape,
Bloom (2004) and Horowitz (2010) also delve into the exponential increase of suicide
terrorism and why it occurs. Although Pape, Bloom, and Horowitz concur that
suicide terrorism is increasing, they disagree why it is so prominent. While the...

in Pape 347). As far as occupation, Pape (2003) feels it plays a key role within the
property of timing. Between 1980 and 2001, 188 separate suicide attacks occurred,
179 of which were parts of terroristic campaigns, and a majority of these campaigns
were direct results of seven disputes: the presence of American and French forces
in Lebanon, Israeli occupation of West Bank and Gaza, the independence of the
Tamil regions of Sri Lanka, the independence of the Kurdish region of Turkey,
Russian occupation of Chechnya, Indian occupation of Kashmir, and the presence of
American forces on the Saudi Arabian Peninsula (347). Therefore, it is no surprise
why Pape believes the resentment of foreign occupation is such an effective
motivator for suicide terrorism (357). Unlike Pape (2003), Bloom (2004) takes the
perspective that ethnic outbidding and standard bearers are the greatest influence on
the escalation of suicide terrorist attacks. According to Bloom, without the presence
of monopoly over force, bombing efforts increased in occurrence and magnitude and
there was a rise of groups claiming responsibility in an effort to outbid other terrorist
groups, thus creating a competitive and outbidding domino effect (65). Bloom also
states with every major attack since November 2000, support for suicide bombings
has increased and support for the Palestinian Authority has decreased
Charles M. Schulz s Life And Accomplishments
Charles M. Schulz, also known as Sparky, is one of the most influential cartoonists
due to his effort on the Peanuts. He drew nearly 18,000 strips for it in the fifty
years it ran. He won many awards for his cartoons. One of the biggest is a star on
the Hollywood Walk of Fame right next to Walt Disney. His talent is still relevant
today due to the Peanuts. Although he requested that no other artist draw more
comics after he died, reruns of his comics are still appearing in newspapers and the
television specials are stories based off his comics.
He also did other drawings that weren t related to the Peanuts. In one illustration titled
Notre Dame, he used a variety of different visual elements of compositions. One

The Effects Of Exorcism On The Evil Spirit
In all aspects of life, people come across things that simply cannot be explained.
Whether people choose to believe something or not; it still is prevalent in life.
Exorcism is the expulsion or attempted expulsion of an evil spirit from a person or a
place (https://www.google.com). In horror films, the main focus during the exorcism
is on the evil spirit. Films have negatively drawn our attention to evil spirit because
it is more interesting to watch. But in reality, behind every exorcism there is an
exorcist that risks his life to save another: And the exorcist, who risks more than
anyone else in an exorcism, flits across the screen as necessary but, in the end, not so

An exorcist risks his life during an exorcism and has to be prepared for the end
result he may die or a part of him may die. Many exorcists are not the same after
they come in contact with pure evil. (Martin 10). Not all exorcisms are preformed
because of the possession of another human being. In fact, most exorcisms are
preformed in haunted buildings infested with evil spirits, which is known as demonic
infestation. The other types of infestation are oppression and possession. Oppression
is when a demon focuses on a particular person and possession is when the person
has allowed the demon to take over its whole body. The most common form,
demonic infestation, occurred in the Cranmer house. Bob Cranmer had bought his
childhood dream house. But, after a few months of living there, a demon had
made itself present. Bob Cranmer had brought in Father Mike Salvagna, a priest,
and Adam Blai, a psychiatrist, to get rid of the demon. The demon s name was
Moloch, whom was usually associated with child sacrifice in the Old Testament.
Moloch was in complete control of all possession in the house. After the priest
threw holy water on the walls, Moloch fought back by making the walls bleed;
which there was no scientific evidence in how the blood had gotten there. The
strange part of this story is that the demon did not cause a scene as the priest
preformed the exorcism. Bob Cranmer described it like a

Judgment In Monster By Walter Dean Myers
Judgment is a fundamental function of the human brain. On a daily basis one
judges their peers for their actions, whether it be good or bad. In the novel,
Monster by Walter Dean Myers, a young boy named Steve Harmon is put on trial
for felony murder; he shares his experiences of what is going on throughout the case
and how he is being perceived by his peers. The juryhas to make a decision, marking
Harmon guilty or not guilty. The jury must make a judgment about him, about
who he is. Evidently, it is revealed that judgment is determined by one s traits,
actions, and appearance. To commence, all throughout his time in the courtroom,
Harmon was being judged by his fellow peers. O Brien Harmon s defense attorney
says to him You re young, you re black and you re on trial. What else do they need
to know? (Myers 79). She is referring to a racial superstition around African
Americans; it is implied that they are all gangsters and criminals. O Brien is
referring to the fact that since Steve is African American, the jury will decide him as
guilty due to his physical traits, which is unfair to Steve.... Show more content on

stand. If O Brien did not like his answer she would flip the cup down, if she did like
his answer she would flip the cup up. In the story, it says Steve: I don t know for sure
I mean he s not a guy I talk with a lot. CUT TO O BRIEN TURNS THE CUP UP
(Myers 219). O Brien does this to make sure the way he speaks consequently, causes
the jury to make a positive judgment about him and declare him not

At this point we have seen sales over time development and a simple regression
analysis, next is need to see which variables possible has effects on sales.
For that next is developed a correlation matrix analysis to explore the possible
correlations that exist between variables a possible explanations.
Correlation matrix are shown graphically (See annex for full results). Blue represents
positive and significant correlation, as blue is darker means that this relationship is
stronger. Lighter blue means week relationship. White means no relationship.
By a brief review we can see next assumptions. Gross sales are highly influenced by
orders and add cart (regression analysis confirmed it). Visits are highly influenced
by bounces, this means a high amount of visitors just visit one page. However also
visits are highly explained by Visits are also explained in a different way; distinct
sessions explain a good amount of visitors, that means visitors are generally diverse

Conclusions and possible future analysis.
Analysis has been through different stages. Initially, the general sales overview of
2013 has shown that sales exhibit a cycle effect. To ensure this as an assumption, we
require to analyze data from other years.
Correlation analysis has shown a high and almost total relationship between orders
and sales, this explains that most of orders are not cancelled or affected by a return

Australian Theater Ruby Moon and Stolen
Contemporary Australian theatre mainly focuses on the reflection of the real
Australia and communicating to the audience real and modern issues/ideas that
respond to the social climate and community. Australian theatre practitioners use
various performance styles, techniques and dramatic conventions to help portray their
ideas to their audiences and make them feel a particular way to the ideas presented in
a play. Without the use of these styles, techniques and conventions it wouldn t be
possible for the practitioners to emphasise their ideas.
Ruby Moon, a mysterious and eerie play written by Matt Cameron explores

Cameron is able to underscore ray and Sylvie s dislocation with reality and their

the fear and paranoia which permutes society. This is reflected in his dialogue. Also

paranoia because it may make sid look like he was involved with ruby s death.
Stolen by Jane Harrison, depicts the broken lives of five children; Ruby, Sandy,
Anne, Shirley and Jimmy; and in doing so, portrays a myriad of personal experiences
of those living in Australian Society. Harrison does this through the skilful use of
dramatic techniques, which are used to convey various personal experiences, such as
Sexual Abuse and Personal Identity, and it is through these experiences in which
Harrison demonstrates the personal experiences of the Stolen Generation.
Ruby is one of the most central characters of the performance, and she is used to
portray to the audience the acts of sexual abuse that occurred within Australian
Society during 1869 and 1969.Harrsion portrays this abuse and its crippling effects
on Ruby s mental state in the scene Ruby s Descent into Madness.
This is achieved through a variety of dramatic techniques, particularly, Space,
Tension and Sound. As Ruby takes centre stage we see Ruby s Tormentors looming
above her, representing their power over the broken Ruby. . . a series of
Evaluation Of A Clinical Evaluation Essay
With the continuous changes in healthcare, evaluation of students clinical knowledge
and skills relies on the need for continuous evaluation. Evaluation is the process of
using data to make judgements about students individual performance. Evaluation of
clinical performance provides data from which educators use to judge the extent to
which students have acquired specific learningoutcomes (Billings Halstead, 2016).
With the use of best practice evaluation methods, clinical performance can be
evaluated to ensure quality patient care. Educators face a challenging task when
providing evaluation that is fair and reasonable. Tasked with evaluating students in
the clinical setting, educators can evaluate how students integrate theory and apply it
to real life situations. Observations of performance in the clinical setting should focus
on the outcomes to be met and competencies to be developed (Oermann Gaberson,
2014). Developing a clinical evaluation tool to determine whether students can think
critically, prioritize problems, and complete patient care procedures correctly is
essential. There are a variety of evaluation methods to use in nursing education.
Depending on the learning outcomes to be measured will determine which tool best
evaluates the students performance. Clinical practice is an essential and highly
significant component of nursing education. Education programs are obligated to
respond to government requests for well educated healthcare professionals.

  • 2. The Four Core Beliefs Of Derek Jeter When you start your education at Sport and Medical Sciences Academy(SMSA) you are taught and are expected to follow the four core beliefs that shape our school and its environment. The four core beliefs are discipline, respect, dedication, and responsibility or how most students know it as D.R.D.R. However, SMSA students are not the only ones that abide by these rules and beliefs. A well known athlete that is a great example of this is the New York Yankees shortstop, Derek Jeter. According to Jeter, his success did not come overnight. His biography displays all the hard work he went through to become the best and he started just at the age of eight with a goal of becoming a shortstop for the New York Yankees. Jeter inspires others to set their goals above and beyond, and if you work hard or believe in yourself that you can achieve anything you want. Discipline is just one of the four core beliefs and it means behavior in accord with rules of conduct, (Dictionary.com). Throughout his career Jeter made his own rules of do s and don ts and an example is, I always tell people that I don t like to boast and I don t like people who brag, but I break my own rules when it comes to my parents, (Curry 55). Instead of bragging like most players would after a win, Jeter made his own rule that he could not brag and he followed that rule, unless it comes to his parents of course. Jeter also followed another rule, he says, I ve always felt that whether you re a professional athlete or a bus driver, it s better to be humble, (Curry 130). Jeter probably follows most of the rules he makes for himself every day. It keeps his behavior and the way he acts around others in check, by now these rules are more of a habit/lifestyle instead of a burden. Respect is the second core belief and its definition is esteem for or a sense of the worth or excellence of a person, a personal quality or ability, or something considered as a manifestation of a personal quality or ability, (Dictionary.com). Derek had so much respect for his coaches, teammates, and especially his parents because when he felt like quitting they were there to make sure he achieved his goal and dream. At a young age, Jeter and his sister Sharlee were treated
  • 3. The Influence of Self-Assessed Body Image on Confidence... Research in psychology today seems to be drawn towards particular fields of interest especially when it comes to understanding human behavior. One of the most common research topics for social psychology is body image and the perceptions that are related to age groups, genders, and ethnicities. Young people today are pressured by society to make physical appearance a dominant factor in their everyday lives, and the pressure is found not only through media influence but friends and family as well (Pavica, 2010). These pressures can affect many different aspects of a person s life and significantly influence their actions. The aspects affected by body imagecan include popularity among peers, social comfort, and the attitudes an individual... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The goal of this study is to observe how the physical state perceived by the individual affects the psychological and emotional states that they incorporate into their everyday lives. From the participants evaluation a greater focus will be on the relations of self assessment to an individual s confidence and self esteem level. The link between these aspects can possibly shed light on how decisions and lives are altered by self interpreted appearance, specifically body image. In addition, there is evidence which supports the theory that body image dissatisfaction affects both genders. By creating and enhancing a positive body image, a person greatly increases their self esteem (Ratanasiripong Burkey, 2011). A study was conducted that asked college aged men to rate their body image either positively or negatively, and found that self perceptions of those overweight were indistinguishable from a similar female sample (Drewnowski Yee, 1987). The confidence we aim to study will be an individual s personal belief in their ability to interact with others, resulting from their positive or negative body perceptions. At this point, it is important to give the operational definitions of all three variables. Body image within the discussion can be conceptualized
  • 4. Milkmaid Analysis Essay The Milkmaid, painted by Johannes Vermeer, shows a woman working in the corner of, what looks like, a kitchen. There is a large window that starts at the top and ends about halfway down the wall that the woman is facing. To the right of the window, there is a small black frame near the top of the wall and a woven basket hanging under it. On the other wall, there is a metal basket with a long handle hanging a little behind and below the woven basket. The walls are a creamy, off white colorthat make it easier to see the nails and stains on them, and the small portion of the floor that can be seen in the bottom right corner is a reddish brown color. The woman is standing behind a table against the wall with a blue table cloth draped over it and is in the middle of the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Johannes Vermeer was born in Delft in 1632 and died in Delft in 1675. Vermeer was never famously recognized during his life, like most artists, and became more known after his death. There are just over 30 paintings of his that are well known today ( Vermeer Gallery ). The Milkmaid was painted by Vermeer in 1657 58 ( The Milkmaid ). This time period was known as the Dutch Golden Age. During this time, women carrying out domestic roles was honorable. The woman in this painting is most likely a kitchen maid who is making a type of bread porridge with leftover bread and milk (milkmaids milk the cows, kitchen maids worked inside). The small wooden box on the floor in the painting is a foot heater, but was sometimes used by kitchen maids to heat other places as well. This added on to Vermeer s previous sexual aspects to the image of a kitchen maids in his paintings (Liedtke). When Vermeer painted The Milkmaid, he was combining the styles of other artists with observation and polished artistic taste. For example, Vermeer s realistic aspect to the painting was influenced by Gerrit Dou s detailed realism
  • 5. Leslie Marmon Silko s The Man To Send Rain Clouds Ever since we can remember, the water cycle has been a part of our life. No matter where we are, we can see the spectacle continue its infinite loop in nature. From evaporation to the runoff that awaits to begin the cycle again, we have constantly trained and memorized the importance and resourcefulness of the water cycle through schooling. In Leslie Marmon Silko s The Man to Send Rain Clouds, Silko illustrates the different stages of the water cycle symbolically throughout the story. The first place we can catch the symbolic usage of the water cycle (mainly evaporation) is in the first section labelled Part One . The paragraph starts out with They found him under a big cottonwood tree, (Silko) him being Teofilo. The tree that is mention... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... To start us off, in section two they start preparing Teofilo for burial as well as things they will need. The first thing they start to do to prepare is set the clothes they will change him into. ... and a new brown flannel shirt and pair of stiff new Levis were arranged neatly beside the pillow (Silko). In sequence with the facepaint in section one, the brown of the flannel can represent dirt and the Levis are the ground water buried deep within the ground. This could represent the look of nature after precipitation, after the cycle begins to end, which I find kind of correlates with Teofilo lifecycle. Furthermore, in the third section is the condensation. Though the funeral ended this is where the climax builds up the next section coming forward. The symbolism in this section is when Louise asks for holy water to give Teofilo. About the priest sprinkling holy water for grandpa. So he won t be thirsty, (Silko). The holy water can represent the start of the gathering of water that defines what condensation does. Once the priest comes to give the holy water he will then sprinkle it like precipitation on the old man so he won t be thirsty . Hence, the reason why I say buildup of climax like
  • 6. Gloria Steinem Influence On Women s Rights I chose the topic How did Gloria Steinem influence the discussion of women s rights? because feminism is an interesting topic to me, and it is an overlooked topic that should be talked about more often in society. In a society that is so dominant by men, women think they can t change it. But, with this topic, it can show how just a simple book, or an idea can start up an entire movement just by influencing each other. Also, even in today s society, women do not get the things they deserve because they are so over dominated by men. I conducted my research by first thinking of what I wanted my topic to be on. I didn t want it to be a topic that is common because I want my project to be something unique, not something
  • 7. William Penn And The Liberty Bell Reflection For the pin that you see above, was made using the program Adobe Photoshop CC (creative cloud). I came up with my inspiration for the pin from my childhood memories. I remember clearly, when I was just a toddler; my parents would always take me to see the Liberty Bell. And I loved the experience! So when I stumbled along the chance to create a pin that would proudly represent Pennsylvania, I used it. I first went onto Google, and went to find an image or a symbol just something that would represent Pennsylvania that everyone recognized. I was stuck choosing between William Penn, or the Liberty Bell. After much thought and consideration, I chose the Liberty Bell. Next, I went to find an image of the Liberty Bell. Alas, I found two images of

Howells medal for fiction by the American Academy of Arts and Letters in 1926. She had been writing for many decades prior to this and made a name for herself in the mid 1880s. She grew up in a home of orthodox Congregationalists and was expected to have very strict behavior. The roles in society for women during this time are key subjects in Freeman s stories. In, A New England Nun, Freeman expresses the pressure and constraints of the obligation put on women to marry. The first encounter of Joe Dagget and Louisa Ellis is so awkward. He sat bolt upright, toeing out his heavy feet squarely, glancing with a good humored uneasiness around

  • 10. Bear Hunt Illustration The children s book We re Going on a Bear Hunt utilises the switching between black and white illustrations and full colour effectively. The pages of the story that are in black and white occur when the family meet an obstacle, such as long wavy grass , and once they have overcome said obstacle the illustration returns to colour. It repeats in this manner throughout the picture books entirety. In doing this, the illustrator has emphasised the texts gloominess and foreboding of what the familywill have to do ( we have to go through it ). The way this text has been structured by combining the aperture, exposition and inciting moment. The first sentence We re going on a bearhunt tells the reader what the story is going to entail whilst giving away what future conflict they could be if the family were to find a bear. The exposition is also viewed here as the reader, with the illustrations help, knows that we (the family) are who is involved and it is a beautiful day in the country. Conflict rises steadily on every second page revealing a new hurdle the family has to conquer (mud, lake etc) but is resolved immediately until the climax when the big bear is found and is not happy to see them. Even though the sentences are few and short, the receptiveness and use onomatopoeic words helps the story flow. The sounds of words increase the appeal and strength of a story (3) which is seen to be true in this particular picture
  • 11. Parallel Experiences of Three Troubled Women in... Parallel Experiences of Three Troubled Women in Cunningham s, The Hours According to Chronicles magazine, Woolf was undeniably a brilliant writer. Woolf s work of Mrs. Dalloway was read by fifteen year old Michael Cunningham in order to impress an older girl in school. As he stated, the book really knocked me out. Once older, Cunningham wanted to write about Mrs. Dalloway, but thought not too many people would want to read a book about reading a book. He then thought he might want to read a book about reading the right book. Hence, The Hours was written. Cunningham would incorporate Mrs. Dalloway into a book about reading a book. The Hours weaves through three woman s lives. As the novel unfolds, it shows that these three women ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The final narrative deals with Clarissa Vaughn. Clarissa lives in a Manhattan apartment in the 1990s with her 19 year old daughter and lesbian lover. She is overwhelmed with planning a party for a local poet whom she is the publisher. The local poet, Richard, once had a relationship with Clarissa, but is now a dying homosexual with AIDS. When I look up the meaning of metaphors in Webster it says a figure of speech in which a work for one idea or thing is used in place of another to suggest a likeness between them. The Hours by Michael Cunningham is enriched with many complex metaphors. While intertwining three different woman s lives, Cunningham uses a wide range of metaphors to help mean something in one story and tie into the next woman s story. Using deconstructive interpretation to investigate these strategically placed metaphors can be difficult and exciting, yet challenging. The flow of the novel starts as Woolf finds the opening line of her new novel: Mrs. Dalloway decided she would buy the flowers herself. The flowers would proof an important metaphor in the book. This thought of buying the flowers herself would link Woolf and Clarissa. Clarissa states the same words to her lover in preparing for Richard s party. And yet the flowers would reappear in Laura Browns life as her husband buys flowers for his own birthday. Flowers that normally represent life and color ironically represent sadness and loneliness in this novel. Death hangs over this
  • 12. Analysis Of The Poem The Selkie Cave The Selkie swam into his undersea cave that contained his human clothing. Last evening he d had a vision he would find his life mate in the area above the sea caves. He needed to find her as his vision was too strong to disregard. She was a well built sturdy young Scot lass with sparkling green eyes and long dark auburn hair which flowed to her waist. He had seen her in his dream, dancing at the local Highland Gathering. The young woman in his dreams was Mackenzie Sutherlands destiny. He strode into the clan gathering, he noticed her dancing a Highland Fling with her kilt and hair whipping around her tight young body. Her smile flashed as she moved to the intricate steps of her dance. Her cheeks flushed and her eyes blazed with a heat which drew him like a moth to a flame. Around and around she swirled and kicked to the music of the bagpipes. As she spun around, he could see her beautiful long legs and the sweet curve of her rounded bottom. Her waist, he realized he could circle with his hands. Her bust was full and appeared to be a plump handful. Her complexion was pale as peaches he d read about in books from her world. While he enjoyed her dance, passion heated his blood, and Mackenzie recognized she was the young woman from his dream. Skye loved the dancing and the way she felt as the men s eyes remained on her. In her young girl s mind, she understood the power she held over them. She viewed the young dark haired stranger who watched her with a

Both cultures have changed and adapted to better suit this country, yet their cultures remain vastly different. The main difference in culture is regarding the family. Traditionally, both Chinese and European cultureshared a similar view of gender roles: that the male was the breadwinner, and the female looked after the home and family. In Australia, it seems gender roles for both are changing with time and are now determined by individual family preference rather than traditional culture (Metro South Health. 2015). European Australian, or western, values are believed to be an extension of rights to the individual. In comparison the Chinese, place more value on the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Historically, English couples were expected to build their own home, living separately to their parents. Due to this practice, it is a widely believed myth, that in Australia, extended families are not held in high regard. A survey conducted by the Australian institute of family studies, showed that physical and emotional support was utilised both to and from extended family and that frequent contact with extended family takes place in approximately 66% of families. The use of cars and phones make keeping in contact much easier, even though families may be spread out geologically. The four main family values in Chinese culture are achieving security and prosperity, respect and filial piety, harmony and importance of family. All these values strive to ensure the families stability and

The Time Of The Butterflies Isabella Czech FSP Dr. Ortiz Villarelle November 5, 2015 Rafael Trujillo, a Dominican dictator, developed a harsh reputation as being one of the most violent and domineering leaders of South America in his thirty one years of power. In The Time of the Butterflies, Julia Alvarez provides insight into the effects of Trujillo s infamy by sharing the stories of three Dominican sisters and their struggles to gain independence and speak their truth. The Dominican American author dramatizes the lives of the Mirabal sisters, three historical women who were assassinated in 1961, for their involvement in the anti Trujillo movement. Roberto Gonzalez Echevarria, a Cuban critic of Latin American literature, provides a bias insight with regards to the novel. This critique written by Roberto Gonzalez Echevarria of In the Time of the Butterflies focuses mainly on the political facts that are not apparent in the novel. He states that Alvarez makes her novel appear blurry, not making it a serious historical fiction. However, the critical commentary that Echevarria made would not necessarily apply to the film due to the fact that Alvarez s intentions are to initially expose readers to life in the Dominican Republic under the control of Trujillo, rather than have it be a serious historical fictional novel with facts and real life events. In fact, the film focused more on the historical aspect of this time period unlike Alvarez s novel. It provided slow motion slide shows of Trujillo s

The Theory Of Intelligence And Scientific Evidence Although most people will propose the question, plant s do not have a brain, therefor how could one consider them as intelligent organisms? , while they are anatomically correct, determining whether or not plants actually are intelligent beings depends solely on how one defines the word, intelligent. Ironically, the definition of intelligence is so vague and difficult to describe that even one provided by Miriam Webster s dictionary contains the word intelligent on three separate occasions. Accounting for the lack of substance in this definition, a new one was born; intelligence is the ability to solve problems, interact with other beings and surrounding, and work in groups. According to this definition of intelligence and scientific evidence, plants are very intelligent. Similar to the way in which human beings evaluate a problem and brainstorm solutions, plants are also very astute problem solvers. Because plants are sedentary, they have to create innovative ways to live and reproduce. While plants cannot simply get up and walk away when they dislike their environments, they change the way they grow to optimize their growth (Clark UGS Lecture, Plant Intelligence). Plants have the ability to generate their own food source, making them self sustaining organisms, rather than having to rely on other organisms for nutrients. One way that plants optimize their growth is through photosynthesis or growing away from shaded areas to catch the light every time (TED talk,

  • 25. Theme Of Manhood In A Raisin In The Sun Throughout the play A Raisin in the Sun by Larraine Hansberry, one theme is persistent and that is the theme of manhood. Manhood has the ability to be defined in many different ways depending on the person and the situations that they currently face. This statement parallels the play as each man in the story has a different idea manhood and how they should carry themselves. This play also brings in the idea that manhood can change within oneself to accommodate a new situation. The three main ideas of manhood in the play stem from two characters, one idea from Joseph Asagai, and the others from Walter Lee Younger. Joseph Asagai s definition of manhood is being close to one s roots and being able to better one s community. Walter Lee Younger s begins the play believing manhood is being able to provide for your family and later in the play it switches to being able to protect and stand up for your family. At the beginning of the play Walter Lee younger believes that manhood stems from being able to provide for one s family. We first encounter Walter s concept of manhood when he and Ruth are arguing over breakfast and Walter says, I m thirty five years old; I been married eleven years and I got a boy who sleeps in the living room and all I got to give him is stories about how rich white people live... (Hansberry 478). This begins to show his ideas because it shows that he is getting older and he still cannot provide for his family. One thing that might hurt Walter the most
  • 26. Compare The Arguments Against Autonomous Weapons In order to understand autonomous weapons, one must understand the basis of artificial intelligence (A.I.). At their very core, A.I.s are algorithms (a step by step procedure based off of mathematical data) that can handle tasks which human intelligence requires. This means they are able to do reasoning tasks like problem solving, prediction, diagnosis, and so forth. On the contrary, the A.I.s portrayed in films and fantasy novels often involves machines that demonstrate human level intelligence. To put this into perspective, there is a scenario where an A.I. is assigned to drive a car from point A to point B with a separate car accident between the points. A realistic A.I. would still try to drive the car from point A to point B because its... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Stuart Russell, the director of the Center for Intelligent Systems at the University of California, Berkeley, raises two points to consider as support to banning autonomous weapons: developing A.I. weapons better than human soldiers and the availability of A.I. weapons (Russell, 2015). To put differently, human soldiers can decide whether or not to shoot someone like a civilian in an extreme environment. An A.I. weapon would only act within its algorithm. So unless the algorithm accounts for every possible scenario, it will produce unfavorable results. However, a game theoretical formulation by G. Arslan and J.S. Shamma invalidates this. Russell stated an A.I. is restricted by its algorithm, so it cannot like a human in complex scenarios. But here, it s possible for the A.I. to make much more complex decisions with negotiation mechanisms. An example of this is a young boy, strapped with a bomb, walking towards a squad of soldiers. The soldiers are preoccupied with other things, so they did not notice the boy. The autonomous turret, near the soldiers, recognizes the explosives and prepares to shoot the hostile. The turret s A.I. is only able to distinguish the difference between lethal and nonlethal targets. However, if a drone with an A.I. built to identify age was there, it can prompt a more favorable scenario. It can stop the turret s A.I. from killing the boy and proceed to two different courses of action. The turret s A.I. can shoot the boy in a nonlethal spot to neutralize him or alert the soldiers of an incoming child. From there, the soldiers can either talk some reason to the kid or disable him. Referencing back to Arkin s point, this is considered the optimal level of human control. The A.I.s makes it easier to accomplish certain goals but the hard decisions are left for humans to make. Also, this allows for more human control in a sense since there are more algorithms

Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Acute compartment syndrome is a medical emergency. It is usually cause by a severe injury. And without treatment, it can lead to permanent muscle damage. Chronic compartment syndrome, also known as exertional compartment syndrome, is usually not an emergency. This is most often caused by an athletic exertion. Because the fascia does not stretch, this can cause increase pressure on the capillaries, nerves and muscles in the compartment. The blood flow to the muscle and nerve cells is disrupted. Without a steady supply of oxygen and nutrients, the nerve and muscle cells can be damaged. Compartment syndrome most often occurs in the anterior compartment of the lower leg. But can also be present in other compartments in the leg, as well as the arms, hands, feet and buttocks. The pain and swelling of chronic compartment syndrome is caused by exercise. Athletes who participant in activities with repetitive motions, such as running, biking, or swimming, are more likely to develop chronic compartment syndrome. This is usually relieved by discontinuing the exercise and is usually not dangerous. Acute compartment syndrome usually develops after a severe injury such as a broken bone. Rarely does it develop after a relatively minor injury. Conditions that may bring on acute compartment syndrome include: a fracture, badly bruised muscle, reestablished blood flow after block circulation, or constricting bandages. The earth s temperature has increased over the years; having effects on the economic and life sources of people, especially through agricultural production and livestock s. According to the Oxford dictionary, climate change is a change in global climate patterns apparent from the mid late 20th century. There are numerous factors that are solely responsible for this change which are both natural and man made causes. Climate changehas led to a decrease in quality and quantity of plant produce and livestock as a result of heat stress, drought and an increase in diseases. According to Health and Safety executive, HSE, UK, heat stress is a component of climate change that causes the body temperature to fail , and is a global problem which affects agriculture and livestock. The effect of heat stress on Livestock s has become greater for animals such as dairy cows and beef cattle. When animals are under distress due to temperature rise, they usually cut back on their feeding practices; have a rise in body temperature and faces weight loss. Milk production, milk fat, protein content and the progression of breeding has been also affected, especially in dairy cows. The reason why the Antifederalist thought so strongly in their belief was because of the experience they had with great Britain, they didn t want to lose everything they worked so hard to earn; letting the national government just take their precious livelihood their farms and land and all that they worked for to build a comfortable life for themselves. The Antifederalist believed that the constitution was going to

Many people consider this the turning point of the Civil War, for every major battle prior to this won by the Confederate Army, led under the famous Robert E. Lee. In the span of three days in the town of Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, the Union Army persevered and won. There were many men at fault for the Confederate loss, however the only person to fully blame is the cavalry leader J.E.B. Stuart. He was in the wrong by not doing his job; Stuart failed to give the position of the Union Army before the battle, he failed to give the information necessary during the battle, and he failed to re enforce the Confederate army. J.E.B. Stuart was most at fault for the Confederate loss at the Battle of Gettysburg.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Stuart failed his job. Advancing through the North, General Robert E. Lee depended on Stuart to report information about the terrain of the unfamiliar land and the movement of the Army of the Potomac (Union). Lee s purpose for invading the North was to utterly destroy the Union army and have a devastating win to end the war. At this point, General Lee and his army were running low on provisions. Stuart, instead of gathering essential information, was joy riding in the North causing great commotion. If it had not been for a paid spy by the name of Harrison, the Confederates would have surely been blind in enemy territory. Harrison gave the size of the Union Army, as well as which direction the army was going. All roads converged at Gettysburg, so Lee thought it was the best place to strike. Also, Harry Heth, a division commander who some blame for the lost of Gettysburg, would not have attacked until the Confederate army assembled, for they would have known what they were up against. The Confederate army at full strength could have easily won the battle on day one; however, Stuart s absence almost lost the battle before it even

Counter Hegemonic Ideologies In Bloody Sunday As Allan John explained in his excerpt on the system of patriarchy, society is constantly being shaped by the interaction between the systems and the participation, whether consciously or unconsciously, of all individuals in the society. Those who perpetuate the system buy into the hegemonic ideologies, or the status quo, and those who actively seek to challenge the status quo embrace counter hegemonic ideologies. In 2013, a clash of ideologies towards current state of racism put the necessity of the Voting Rights Act under the scrutiny of the Supreme Court. However, instead of quelling the counter hegemonic movements, the escalation of violence caught the attention of the media and the footages of violent policemen beating peaceful protestors were able to reach the nation. These footages undoubtedly shocked the nation because many living in the Northern states were disconnected and ignorant to the situation in the South. As Johnson states in his excerpt, individuals who are ignorant of the social issue unconsciously perpetuates the system. Here, we see the importance of media in its ability to enlighten and inspire those who were ignorant to start actively stand up against the system of white supremacy. Every year we would go to two Fourth of July parties; now we go to one. I think everyone who has celebrated the holiday has at least one memory of the time something went haywire during Independence Day. Lots of people party on the Fourth of July and things tend to go wrong every now and then but it does not usually stop people from partying. In our case it did hinder the festivities. What could have happened that was so bad that we quit going? This is the story of the time a drunk man shot fireworksat children. Fourth of July is a big holiday for many Americans. We celebrate the anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence from England in 1776. Most people celebrate by watching firework displays or setting of some themselves, if the weather and laws permit. America is a nation full of pyromaniacs. Who could blame us? Fire is fun. Fire is not the only fun thing about the Fourth though. Cookouts and parties are common, as is alcohol. Sometimes accidents happen when pyrotechnics and alcohol mix, such as: destroyed property, like a shirt catching an ember and having a hole burned through it, fires if the wind spends a spark dancing into a tree or some grass, missing fingers (do not hold firecrackers, I repeat do not hold firecrackers), and burns, sometimes, even if you do everything right, something could still go wrong. Our bodies swayed to the rhythm as we saw Ariadne and Dionysius triumphantly dancing. The Suite Antique prelude brought us back from the forest and enthralled us with the playing of the instruments. Naylani began lifting her arms as though she were playing the flute herself, mimicking the actions of the flutist and the movements of her body as she drew breaths to play. I watched as the pianist s fingers moved eloquently. Soon, my fingers strummed upon my knee in my own attempts to replicate the piano playing. As the ostinato took over the stage, our spirits lifted as the music became full of life. Before I knew it, Naylani was dancing like a woodland fairy and having such a good time. Even though the number of deaths of Polio have come to a screeching halt 3,145 people died in 1952 due to the worst outbreak in the United States s history. • 46. How Climate Affect Eurasia The Europeans had a climate where they were able to grow productive crops and domesticate animals, creating a surplus of food, freeing some people from food production to become specialists who were able to create advanced tools and weaponry. Because the Europeans had time, steel, and immunity to smallpox, due to their exposure to domesticated animals, they could decimate populations, appropriate there resources, and conquer the world. The first inequality that geography caused was the development of agriculturein areas such as Eurasia, versus the lack of development in places such as Papua New Guinea. Geographic location changes what crops can grow by affecting the climate of the given area. The climate then affects what plants can grow... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In order for animals to live in an area, two basic needs have to be met by that location. First, the climate in that area must conform with the climate the specific species needs to survive. As explained previously, the climate of an area relates to its geographic location. This is why animals such as polar bears live in Antarctica and Alaska, areas farther from the equator, which have less sunlight and less warmth. The second requirement is that there has to be food which the animal is able to digest. Animals such as cows, which depend on grass for food, would not be able to live in an arid or desert like environment. Grass just isn t going to grow there. This means that areas which have prime conditions for containing domesticable animals, which just so happened to be Eurasia, have a significant advantage in the form of technological development over areas which don t have the right climate or the right foods to sustain domesticated animals. Because these animals provided a sustainable source of food, as well as performing farming tasks such as pulling plows, they gave societies with domesticable animals access to a very important resource, time. With that, these societies were able to develop concepts such as art and to sustain specialists. Not all animals can be domesticated. They have to be able to cooperate with humans and make economic sense. In order for a species to be domesticable, it has to have the inclination to not attack or eat humans, otherwise, the species could be dangerous to domesticate. Along with that comes the ability to actually control the species. A species has to have a hierarchy like social structure in order for humans to be able to control a whole pack of animals, which is much more sensible than trying to train every individual animal. They also need to be economically sensible.

  • 56. Evaluation Of A Clinical Evaluation Essay With the continuous changes in healthcare, evaluation of students clinical knowledge and skills relies on the need for continuous evaluation. Evaluation is the process of using data to make judgements about students individual performance. Evaluation of clinical performance provides data from which educators use to judge the extent to which students have acquired specific learningoutcomes (Billings Halstead, 2016). With the use of best practice evaluation methods, clinical performance can be evaluated to ensure quality patient care. Educators face a challenging task when providing evaluation that is fair and reasonable. Tasked with evaluating students in the clinical setting, educators can evaluate how students integrate theory and apply it to real life situations. Observations of performance in the clinical setting should focus on the outcomes to be met and competencies to be developed (Oermann Gaberson, 2014). Developing a clinical evaluation tool to determine whether students can think critically, prioritize problems, and complete patient care procedures correctly is essential. There are a variety of evaluation methods to use in nursing education. Depending on the learning outcomes to be measured will determine which tool best evaluates the students performance. Clinical practice is an essential and highly significant component of nursing education. Education programs are obligated to respond to government requests for well educated healthcare professionals.
