Discussing theories and types of systems was a process of looking at situation
from a distanced and unrelated point of view. Some concepts were easier to
understand because I had previously experienced them or realized my part in a
specific system. The first part of the course brought up a lot of questions about the
application and ways in which these processes occurred. This approach led to many
discussions and ideas about why specific situations were classified as they were
within the dynamic systems.

However, society s idea of perfection changes over time, often skewed and too
ambiguous to achieve. In search of inspiration and role models, films influence
society just as much as society influences film.
Classic movies provide the foundation of all movies in which other productions can
compare to. The advancement of movies cannot happen without the success or
mistakes of others. Despite developing technology and its trials and errors, some
trends appeal to the audience and remain a necessity in each individual movie genre,

What would you do for fourteen million dollars? In Carl Hiaasen s novel Lucky
You, JoLayne Lucks, an African American veterinarian, and two friends Bode
Gazzer and Chubb each win a lottery ticket. Bode and Chubb soon realize they have
to split the twenty eight million dollar jackpot with JoLayne, and become angry
because they want all the money. Tom Krome, a journalist for the local newspaper,
is on a mission to help JoLayne make sure that doesn t happen. Greed is defined as
the desire, most of the time selfish, for prosperity, power, or status. Most of the
time, greed is created when insecurities and troubles in a person s life lead them to
believe they can improve their life through selfish means. It often causes people to
transform in a negative manner. When a person is insecure about their position in
society, they often turn to greed as an attempt to solve their problems. Chubb and
Bode are scared of anyone who isn t a similar background to them taking control of
the society they live in. Because of this, they are led to believe it is their job to
create a group to stop it. Part of this involves stealing the lottery ticket from
JoLayne, who is an African American (Hiaasen 47). When they realize an African
American woman who won the other ticket, they believe it will be easy for them
to get it. This reveals that Chibb and Bode are insecure about an African American
woman winning the same amount of money as they did, which is why they
decided to steal it. Their insecurities about being lower in society is what fuels the
greed for the money. Additionally, Chubb is insecure about not having a woman
who loves him, so he kidnaps Amber, a Hooters waitress. He feels that every man
has a woman, so he feels he deserves to be with her. After seeing Chubb, Bode, and
Shiner with Amber, Tom exclaims, Look at those googans and tell me they know
how to cope with a girl like that (206). Tom is pointing out a key part of all three of
the men s personalities. Their desire for a woman in their life was so great that they
needed to kidnap her and she is thus able to manipulate them. Their greed to fit in
with the norms of society is too much for them to understand what is happening.
