Examples Of A Critique Essay
1. Examples Of A Critique Essay
Writing an essay on the topic "Examples of a Critique Essay" can be a challenging task that
requires a thoughtful and analytical approach. Critiquing involves a careful examination and
evaluation of a subject, often a piece of literature, artwork, or any other form of expression. To
effectively write a critique essay, one must possess not only a strong command of the language
but also the ability to critically assess and analyze the chosen examples.
The difficulty lies in the need for a balanced perspective. A successful critique essay should not
merely point out flaws or strengths; it should delve deeper into the underlying elements that
contribute to the overall impact of the work. This requires a thorough understanding of the
subject matter, an ability to articulate thoughts clearly, and a knack for discerning subtle nuances.
Additionally, constructing a critique essay involves organizing thoughts coherently, presenting
arguments logically, and supporting assertions with relevant evidence. It requires the writer to
strike a delicate balance between objectivity and subjectivity, offering constructive criticism
without veering into negativity.
Research skills play a crucial role in this process. A comprehensive critique demands a thorough
investigation into the background of the subject, understanding the context, and exploring the
intentions of the creator. This research-intensive aspect can add an extra layer of complexity to
the writing process.
In conclusion, crafting an essay on the topic "Examples of a Critique Essay" demands a
combination of critical thinking, analytical skills, and effective communication. It necessitates a
careful examination of the subject matter, an unbiased evaluation of strengths and weaknesses,

meaningfully to the discourse.

2. A Rhetorical Analysis On Immigration Issues
Only a month has passed since the presidential inauguration, and the new
administration has stirred up much controversy in regards to the executive orders
signed by Donald Trump in his first few weeks of presidency, Though several weeks
have passed, the infamous refugee ban and the border wall initiative are continuing to
shake U.S. politics, and the media has covered the many different parts of what is on
the minds of these Americans. A couple of common themes found throughout these
selected articles is the growing concern for the U.S. economy and international
relations with foreign countries in regards to the aforementioned hot topics of this
month. Additionally, how human rights may be violated in the pursuit of the

Immigration and Customs Enforcement in the past few weeks. Much of media has
covered the government s plans for a more strict immigration policy to secure the
southern border, including the waves of I.C.E. raids in several major cities
throughout the country. Moreso, the Trump administration is making changes to
increase the pool of immigrants to be deported by giving immigration agents the
objective to go after criminals, as well as any undocumented person the agent
believes has committed a chargeable offense (Reyes, 2017). Such rhetoric is
interesting, especially in this case, because of the likelihood of once again relying
on racial profiling for such a job. Like the themes in Grgoire Chamayou s Manhunts:
A Philosophical History, this plan for eliminating undocumented immigrants as fast
as possible with expedited removals dehumanizes these people to just being an
excess group that can be tossed to the side because they are not citizens of our nation.
These agents are actively seeking the undocumented and not hesitating to arrest and
detain, even expediting the process in order to avoid wasting time with court
hearings. Also an unsettling thought, if foul play were to happen in these raids, the
question of who would be held responsible? For example, the shooting of an unarmed
Mexican national in 2010 by a U.S. border patrol agent (De Vogue, 2017). Years have
passed since the incident and it is still being debated in the U.S. Supreme Court today.
A disturbing thought to think that more questionable actions by agents could arise
from this mandate to increase the number of deportations and the known tendencies
to rely on racial profiling for such a plan. However many people have acknowledged
this violation of human rights and have protested this evil caricature that has been
painted by the new administration with their recent actions. A Day Without
Immigrants was a nationwide

4. The Social Issue Of Immigration
Immigration has been a major topic since the beginning of the United States of
America. This phenomenon is what helped the establishment of this country; and
even today it continues to have an impact in in most aspects of the lives of North
American s. The subject has also brought much criticism and created divided
opinions about its immediate and long term impact. Migration itself it s not a
problem, but the modern dilemma of who is allowed to migrate and reside
permanently in a country legally. It is interesting to explore this subject under three
basic theories that Sociologydeals with: symbolic interactionism, conflict theory and
social functionalism. Each theory brings us closer to understand some of the reasons
why illegal immigrationis controversial today. The purpose of this paper is not to
persuade but to explore and expose some ideas on a recurrent social issue. The first
theory to be discussed is symbolic interactionism, which can be related to the term
illegal immigration and some of the other words that derive from this. The main idea
covered and supported by this theory, is the fact that communication is based on the
exchange of symbols. In a sense language, words etc. are symbols, and the
terminology given to the current social problem contributes to the creation of
perceptions that people have. For instance, when an average American thinks of the
word illegal immigrant the first thing that comes to mind is a brown/Hispanic
immigrant, most likely a
5. Breweries In Texas
Texas is home to thirty five operating breweries, but when speaking of the cultural
landscape and the effects the breweries have had on the environment around them it
is best to relate it to our home, the Dallas Fort Worth metroplex. Going back to when
breweries first got their start in Texas, around 1860, the landscape was the one doing
the influencing on the brewingculture. Because, of the lack of refrigeration and the
Texas heat, brewers were forced to only create their local brews in the cool months.
Due to the environment, lack of technological advances, and law enforcement
(prohibition), Texas breweries of the past would not have the impact that they had
hoped for when they started. The beerindustry in Texas would find life again around...

Their presence and involvement in the community influences it s customers to give
back to their local community. The younger culture is beginning to show more
involvement with giving back to local businesses and helping them to succeed
rather than big businesses that focus more on large nationwide profit. Breweries
like Rahr and Sons, sponsor local events and are popping up at different bars and
locations weekly to help, not only their own growth, but to aid in the growth of
local businesses. Another interesting idea that Rahr has begun is connecting the
local businesses. For example, one of their specialty brews of the season is a brew
that is created using a combination of ingredients from another local business, Avoca
Coffee. Ideas such as this only reinforce the idea of aiding in the local business
industry and influencing locals to give to their community and help it prosper. With
so many local breweries, and their spread out location throughout the Metroplex, it
ensures that each part of the metroplex has a local brewery nearest to them and can
emerge in the community and nearby bars and

7. Defusing the Conflict in Northern Ireland
It seems that all, throughout history, Protestants and Catholics are always butting
heads. Tensions were particularly high between Ireland and Britain with Ireland being
Catholic and Britain Protestant. This religious discrepancy had a real effect on the
Irish people, interfering with their Catholic tradition. The Irish people had longed for
independence from the British for a long time; but, Britain really managed to agitate
the Irish when they sent settlers from Britain and Scotland to settle in Northern Ireland
. This agitation eventually grew into the Northern IrelandWar, as the Protestants began
to take control. If the Protestants had just settled into Northern Ireland and went about

This law still follows the Limerick Treaty, but slowly the Treaty is betrayed, and it
leaves the Catholic people with nothing. The Catholics also wanted full independence
because they felt that the Protestants were affecting their identity, and they were
afraid of losing it. One can see that that Irish united to fight for their cultural identity
which was slowly being melded with the Protestant culture. Through the loss of the
education system, they were losing their religious tradition. There were no more
churches, and slowly their faith was becoming less connected to the people. By
removing the identity of the Irish Catholics and influencing their culture directly and
indirectly they are angering the Catholics, provoking rebellions.
It was not the Irish Catholic identity that was being lost, through the restriction
enforced on them they were also losing their political stature. They lost the power to

Network (RIPIN) Center in Cranston, RI. The RIPIN Center helps families and
children get the help they need to achieve health and education goals. There are
different sessions that go on within the month for different needs; every second
Saturday is the meeting specially geared to Deaf children and families. The meeting
was held by Elsbeth, who is a mother of a child who is hard of hearing. This session
in particular involved transitioning into college. A young boy had lost his hearing
with age and he is going into his senior year of high school. He stated to the group
that he was looking into colleges and his mom, who was also present, was afraid
about his academic success. This student chooses to use hearing aids and lip
reading as a method of understanding what hearing individuals are saying. His mom
stated when teachers do not follow with his 504 plan, he ends up doing poorly in
the class; otherwise he is an academically high achieving student. Both he and his
mom have high hopes, he wants to attend Brown for a science major. He instantly
became sad when mentioning that Umass is more proabable due to his hearing
loss. He seemed to be timid about asking for help or enforcing his 504 plan with
teachers. The student stated that it is a hassle for the teacher and he would rather
manage with what he can. A few of us were curious about how he hears since he kept
alluding to only hearing half of
9. Comparing The Picture Book And Because Of Winn-Dixie
Introduction
This paper focuses on two books, the picture book and realistic novel. I am hopeful
while doing a critical analysis of these two books that it would help me to create an
effective mini library in my future classroom. I would like to use it as a helpful tool
to teach children how to compare the differences and similarities of the two genres
and many more. I have chosen Corduroy as my picture book and Because of Winn
Dixie as my realistic novel to write on this written critique because it signifies the
moral lessons about family importance and friendship.

truly allows the children to be imaginative by reading it or just by looking on the
illustrations.
The mother s reaction when she saw Corduroy missing the button abruptly
dismisses him. She directly judges him that he doesn t look new. The statement
gives a huge impact of how we view things, people, and how narrow minded we are
of so many things. I know I am guilty about this and I need myself to be reminded
how to be positive when in the worst situation in our life happened. We should
challenge ourselves to do more and to do better act. This would allow us to show a
positive outlook in life for the children. It would help the children to learn to
handle emotions whether it is bad or good. It could also help us to provide the
children some good examples to model ourselves to make them feel that we are all
special in every way and that we are all unique. My view, at that moment Corduroy
knew deep down that he wants somebody to care for him. That is why he is willing
to find his missing button.
This makes sense to Corduroy to look around the departments store maybe he could
find the missing button on his shoulder strap. My response on this part is that
Corduroy portrays curiosity. He wants to be accepted and hoping that
10. Pros And Cons Of Reid Technique

In many cases innocent people are convicted while criminals are free on the streets
committing more crimes. In the 1950 s John Reid created the well known Reid

development of the truth. The technique is based on science and psychology
assumptions which point out anxiety and body language as an indicator of deceitful.
Over decades the American Police Forces are relying on Reid technique to make

14. Presentation Of Financial Statements On Accounting Profits
Question 1. Presentation of Financial Statements A.In evaluating a company should
an investor rely more on accounting profits or cash flow. Advantages One advantage
of firms using their accounting profits over their cash flows is that it is possible to
legally manipulate the figures for accounting profits. This means that a firm whose
cash flows look poor on paper can make themselves appear to be doing better with
their accounting profits. The primary advantage to using cash flows over accounting
profits is that the time value of money is taken into consideration with more reliance
on cash flows. However, time value of money is usually ignored when calculating
accounting profits alone. Disadvantages Using the accounting profit method of
evaluating a company has a major disadvantage that it is more time consuming and
complex. There is only one method to calculate to calculating cash flows; however,
there are several different methods existing for calculating accounting profits. When
calculating cash flows, non cash items such as depreciation and amortisation are not
taken into consideration. Depending on the firm s financials, this could result in their
accounting statements displaying lower profitability than using the accounting profit

Mathematics is the foundation on which everything is built, however it is not about
knowing only timetables, formulating, calculating, and being able to provide one

1What s at stake for the key parties, including those that may disagree with you?
What is important to them? What does the target value and why?
I see how these events transpire as a character test. Who am I and what do I stand

The Spirit Club s value surpasses any individual and the implications of Matt s
actions could be detrimental to the club. First and foremost, our reputation as a

22. Skin Cancer Essays
Skin Cancer
What is it and how to prevent it
Skin cancer is the most prevalent of all cancers. There are three types of skin cancer:
basal cell carcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma, and malignant melanoma. In this
presentation I plan to discuss a little about each of these cases as well as tell ways to
prevent and treat them. The first most common skin cancer is basal cell carcinoma.
This cancer develops in the basal or bottom layer of the epidermis, which is the top
layer of the skin. The cause of this cancer is a gene called patched or PTC, which
helps to control cell growth and development. If this gene is missing, defective, or
damaged by ultra violet radiation, unrestrained cell proliferation may result. Basal cell

About 48,000 new cases are diagnosed annually in the United States. About 7,700
people die from this disease each year. Melanoma may suddenly appear without
warning but it may also begin in or near a mole or other dark spots in the skin. The
most important step you can make is to have any changing mole examined by a
dermatologist so that any early melanoma can be removed while still in the
curable stage. Heredity can also play a role since a person has an increased chance
of developing melanoma if a family member has had melanoma. Warning signs of
melanoma include: changes in the surface of a mole, scaliness, oozing, bleeding or
the appearance of a new bump, spread of pigment from the border into surrounding
skin, and change in sensation including itchiness, tenderness, or pain. In conclusion,
skin cancer is a danger to all whom work or dwell in the sun while at its peak. To
prevent skin cancer of any kind, the Skin Cancer Foundation recommends that
people avoid the sun at its peak, which is from10am 4pm. Use sunscreen regularly.
Any skin changes or abnormalities should be reported to a physician. In the event
that you do develop skin cancer, there are surgical methods used to remove cancerous
tissue. In some cases tissue is destroyed through the application of intense cold or
cryosurgery. In advanced cases, surgical removal of tissue along with radiation,
chemotherapy, or both may be
23. Examples Of Actor Network Theory
The Actor Network Theory (ANT) is a social theory which treats objects as part of
the overall social network. This approach places emphasis on the capacity of
nonhuman objects to interact and even participate in various social networks and
systems. The following information will explain Actor Network Theory, provide
examples of how it is believed to work, and explore the relationship this theory has
in regards to power and politics.
The Actor Network Theory Explained
This theory was developed by scholars Bruno Latour and Michel Callon. Sociologist
John Law also contributed to the theory. Humans and nonhumans are obviously not
the same, but they can be studied and observed in similar ways and can both be seen
as actors influencing their environment. Anything that makes a difference in the
overall scheme of things can be considered an actor, or an actant. Even though it is
technically called a theory, ANT usually doesn t explain how or even why a network
emerges into the form that it does. Instead, ANT explores the intricate ties in a
network. In many ways it is more of a method than a theory. It describes how
activities and habits can sustain themselves while interacting with one another and
working toward a common goal. Although ANT is usually associated with science
and technology, it has expanded into the field of sociology as ... Show more content

When it comes to politics and the power associated with it, the first thing that must
be noted is that much more is involved than the people, or in this case, the
politicians. Ideas and concepts play a crucial role in the political process. Therefore,
just like the previous example of the hospital, there are lots of moving parts, hence,
actors, involved in politics. There are people, places, and communication mediums
involved. Even getting a message out depends on a channel or venue through which
that message must travel to reach the

A clear, well organized record keeping system is essential for counselor who provides
treatment, nutritional assessment and consultation services. But setting up such
systems can be challenging. For one, a counselor need to attack the fine balance
between the need to maintain client privacy and confidentiality and the needto
communicate with insurers, other treating professionals and larger health systems.
Counselor s records must also follow the state and federal laws (King Klawitter,
2007). . In addition, a counselor needs to plan for retirement and the eventual disposal
of records. In order for counselor to have these records, information needs to be
documented. Some of the things that need to be documented include counseling...

she is capable of change as well as be supportive and knowledgeable. I think it will

persuade her with understanding the change is up to her.

some of the reasons for such performance have been allocated to the fact that the

approached some contract manufacturers to take over what in the 1990s was the
envy of its competitors: its production plants. Products The products that Dell

the company (see chart A), it is possible to understand the vastest product
categories Dell relies on are those of Desktop PCs and Mobility, which account for
more than 50% of the total revenues coming into the company. However, it is worth
pointing out that the revenues originated by PCs are quite stable, since it is not
possible to notice great increases in this business area, whereas the growth of the
revenues in other areas, such as mobility or servers, are much more noticeable and

about one day seeing my name on my own the desk plate. I loved how caring and
loving she was and I wanted to be like her. As I grew older I never really took the
time to think of what type of nurse I wanted to be. I assumed I would go into
obstetrics or gynecology since I am a female. It was not until two years ago that I
decided I wanted to be a psychiatric nurse. Eight years ago my mother was diagnosed

History of Western Society I

Caesar Augustus
History is made up of individuals who were just living the life they wanted to live.
Their actions ended up making an impact on our world as we know it. At the time
they probably had no clue that the actions they put forth in their time would
eventually lead up to the world we know today. Their life events may not have been
grand, but they were enough to make an impact. Caesar Augustus is one example of a
person in history who led a successful life.
Born Gaius Octavius on September 23, 63 B.C., in Velletri, Italy. Augustus was a
sickly child with few connections. Although, one connection he did have was being
the great nephew of Julius Caesar. Augustus was known by three different names
throughout his life. From birth to 44 B.C. he was known as Octavius, in 44 B.C.
he was adopted and changed his name to Octavian and in 26 B.C. he was named
Augustus by the Roman Senate. His father worked as a senator and governor of the
Roman Republic, and passed away when Augustus was four years old; Caesar s
niece Atai was his mother. In his younger years, his grandmother Julia Ceasaris
helped raise him; she was the sister of Julius Caesar.
Augustus took on the Roman sign of manhood of wearing the toga at age 16, and
began taking on responsibilities through his family connections. At the time Rome
was dangerous and engulfed in a civil war, one faction of the war was led by

B. Your biggest obstacle at this point is procrastination. The problem arises when

29. Negative Effects Of Napoleon Bonaparte
The Napoleonic Age was the most controversial time period. Some people thought
Napoleon was a reformer, while others thought he was an absolute dictator. One thing
is for sure though, that he shaped France/Europe into the continent/country is is
today. Napoleon was very narcissistic and cruel, and did not value humanlife. At the
same time, he believed in education and instruction. Also, he positively influenced
the schools and created the Napoleonic Code, which solved a lot of France s
problems. Napoleon Bonaparte had a negative impact on France, because he
mistreated the rights that every human should obtain, created a bad image for other
countries, and only really cared about absolute power.
Napoleon was born in Corsica, Italy and was entered directly into the Military, at age
ten. Napoleon s leadership, and role as emperor, was heavily based around the fact
that all of his childhood was being trained in the military! Some people view this in a
negative light (seeing other people just as a target, and appreciating human life.)
Some people on the other hand, view this in a positive light (Being a good instructor,
and knowing how to make the right moves with politics.) During the French
revolution the citizens of France tried to create a republic, and when they failed
continuously, Napoleon Bonaparte stepped up and became a strong leader in France.
In 1799, the government started to grow more and more corrupt, and that s when
Napoleon came into play. Napoleon was an

Researches about audit pricing started in the 1980s with the publishing of Simunic
(1980) s The pricing of audit services: Theory and evidence. He set out the multiple
regression model of audit pricing and run the regression analysis using data from 397
listed companies in USA. Simunic took the position that auditfees are determined by
the loss exposure of the client comlany, the apportionment rate of loss between the
audit firm and the client company, and the production function and characteristics of
the audit firm . The results of his study demonstrate that the scale of an auditee is the
most significant factor determining its audit fees, despite other factors, such as the
ratioof receivables to total assets of the client company and... Show more content on

All of the researches mentioned above focus on developed economies, where audit
markets have similar characteristics: audit markets are mature and oligopolistic;
audit markets operate under stable policy and regulation. However, things might be
different in China, a developing economy, due to the imperfect regulation and a
highly competitive audit market, where top ten audit firms are only in charge of
30% listed companies during 2005 2007, while big 8 audit firms dominated the audit
market in developed economies in the same period (Li et al., 2005; Wang et al., 2008).
Most empirical studies of audit fees have come out due to government s requirement
of Chinese listed companies to disclose audit fees in their financial reports, since
2001. Some works investigate the determinants of audit fees directly. Wang (2002)
became the first researcher to study audit pricing determinants of Chinese listed
companies. He concludes that the scale of client firm and auditor, the complexity of
client firm, audit opinion, audit risk, and the industry of client firms are of
statistically significance in determining audit fees. Liu et al. (2003) s research further
concludes that the location of client firm is significantly related to audit fees. Wu
(2003) s contribution is that there is a positive relationship between the changing of
audit opinions (basically from unqualified opinion to qualified
31. An Analysis Of Flannery O Connor s A Good Man
In Flannery O Connor s short story A Good Man is Hard to Find , the fate of the
family is foreshadowed within the very first few paragraphs. The grandmother in
the story tries to convince the family that going to Tennessee would be much more
suitable for the family vacation not only because had the children been to Florida
before, but there is a criminal who has escaped from federal prison and is headed
that way (1076). She tries to inform her son, Bailey, and his wife of the convict who
claims himself as The Misfit, but the couple ignores her and the children suggest that
if she is worried, she should just stay home (1076). The second element of
foreshadowing depicted in the short storyis seen when the grandmother hides her cat
in a basket (1076). The grandmother is aware that the son does not know about the
cat and it may startle him or upset him later (1077). Alternatively to the first two uses
of foreshadowing, the third use is not seen until the familys encounter with Red
Sammy, when he informs the family about just how bad The Misfit is (1080). He
tells them that he wouldn t be surprised if The Misfit tried to rob him for two cents
(1080). All of these tie together at the end of the story and relate back to the
grandmother. It can be assumed that if the grandmother would have stayed home as
John Wesley, her grandson had advised, that the family s fate would not have ended
the way that it did. While the parents and children hold the responsibility for choosing
32. Substance Use Of Substance Use Disorder
Substance use may be viewed as recreational to some, however to others, it is the
beginning of the road to an addiction. According to the fifth edition of the
Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders: DSM V (2013), a
diagnosis of substance use disorder is based on evidence of impaired control,
social impairment, risky use, and pharmacological criteria. Substance use disorders
occur when recurring drug use, including alcohol, causes clinically and functionally
significant damage, such as health problems, disability, and failure to meet major
responsibilities at work, school, or home. These criteria are nearly identical to that
of addiction, which is a reason they are used interchangeably. In the last decade,
substance use, particularly illicit drug use, has been increasing ( DrugFacts:
Nationwide trends | National Institute on Drug Abuse , 2014). Is this due to the high
stress society in which we live, or an individual s predisposition to addiction? In all
likelihood it is a combination of both, as well as emotionregulation, a process which
allows for the evaluation, monitoring, and modifying of emotional reactions to
accomplish goals. This paper will address the possible role of emotion regulation on
substance use disorders and the research behind it.
Although drugs vary in their chemical makeup and pharmacological properties, many
drugs are used and abused due to their anxiolytic and euphoric effects, increasing
positive emotions and alleviating many

2.3 Inter Industry Analysis Porter s Five Forces
The Strategic fit approach to management, describes that the prospect of profitability
depends largely on the firm positioning itself in an attractive industry the
attractiveness and therefore profitability is said to depend upon how competitive the
industry is, a highly competitive industry is less attractive and less profitable than an
industry where the competition is less intense. (www.netmba.com) According to
Porter s Five Forces Framework attractiveness and profitability depends upon five
elements of industry structure and how they interact determining the intensity of the
competition within the industry (Michael Porter, Competitive Strategy: Techniques
for analysing industries and competitors). Included in this chapter is an explanation
of the Five Forces and how they each affect Eurocity.
2.3.1 Rivalry amongst existing firms
Porter described that intense industrial rivalry can lead to higher costs; lower prices
and therefore lower profitability. As there are a large number of competitors with
little ability to differentiate their product, the market can be seen as very competitive
and therefore unattractive. However, there are some compensating factors; such as,
an applicant must give his permission to companies who wish to submit their CV and
in return the applicant has to confirm that no other company will submit them for the
position. This means that applicants should not be submitted by numerous

The Jungle, Sinclair wrote his first nonfiction novel The Industrial Republic: A

Coal, which focused on the coal miner s strike. The novel did not succeed as much
as The Jungle because the protagonist was a wealthy outsider (Bloodworth). King
Coal impacted history because it demonstrated that capitalism resulted in the coal
strike (Yoder). After King Coal, Sinclair wrote a less successful Jimmie Higgins
(1919). The protagonist, Jimmie Higgins, a representation of Socialists during
WWI, was not as successful because it was not as convincing and revolutionary

The Aztec and Incan civilizations had more advantages and disadvantages over

the country during the early nineteenth century. The basis of this religious
transformation can be found in the longing of many people for an intensity of
spiritual experience.
The Second Great Awakening and Rise of Evangelicalism
Transformations in American economics, politics and intellectual culture found their
parallel in a transformation of American religion in the decades following
independence. As a result, the United States underwent a widespread flowering of
religious sentiment and unprecedented expansion of church membership known as
the Second Great Awakening. The Awakening lasted some 50 years, from the 1790s
to the 1840s, and spanned the entire United States. The religious revitalization that
the Awakening represented manifested itself in different ways according to the local
population and church establishment, but was definitely a Protestant phenomenon.
Methodist and Baptist denominations experienced a surge of membership, often at
the expense of other denominations, prompting a move toward liberalization and
competitiveness on the part of the Anglican, Presbyterian and Congregationalist
churches. The numerical success of
41. Habakkuk Analysis
Introduction
Habakkuk is a prophet of Judah during the reign of King Josiah. He is considered a
professional prophet because little is known about his background or education. He
gives us an oracle (1:1) by what he sees rather than the word he received from the
Lord. His oracle begins with an internal monologue stating the issues he sees in his
society. He sees that destruction is inevitable, yet holds to the belief that Judah can t
die. This nation belongs to God. In the midst of his observations regarding the
rampant violence and injustice, he questions why God is silent. The evil he sees is
not only from the outside, but what has become of his nation within(1:3). King Josiah
s edicts were considered to be turning the nation back to the Torah to restore the
traditional Jewish cult. In the end, these reforms would not last. Josiah would lead
his nation to war against the Egyptian Pharaoh Necho in battle and die along with
many of countrymen resulting in Judah becoming a vassal state of Egypt.
Habakkuk will make an interesting observation regarding the way people follow
rulers. In chapter 1:14, he says that God made people like the fish of the sea, like
crawling things that have no ruler. Habakkuk seems to be blaming God for making
us social creatures that want to follow rulers. He ... Show more content on

The work of their hands has made them independent of God and they have become
satiated by their lust for more. They keep empting their net only to fill it up in order
to only fill them again (1:17). The Lord speaks to these people in 2:4 by stating that
their spirit is not right within them and their wealth is treacherous. Treacherous
people with wealth become insecure and must protect their wealth by creating more
wealth. They see people in light of how they may use them to their gain. In the end,
the Lord says they do not endure
42. World Hunger Problems
Currently, 1 billion people suffer from hunger, yet, about 1.5 billion adults are
overweight. Currently, the quantity of food produced globally is more than
enough to feed the global population, however, the increased food prices, uneven
distribution of food around the globe, and the quality of food production practices
correlates with the threatening factors that catalyze human induced climate
change. Not to mention the population is expected to rise to 9 billion by 2050
which will augment the demand for food production. Solving the issue of world
hunger is a complex algorithm involving economic, psychological, and
environmental factors. In order to formulate a plan on how to effectively solve the
modern crises of world hunger the factors must be addressed and analyzed.
Chiefly, modern day farming can sometimes be described as a double edged
sword. Using chemicals such as pesticides, herbicides, and fungicides have been
normalized in mass production of food in the last few decades in order protect
crops from pests to maximize the quantity farmers are able to produce, however,
the chemicals do not always kill every pest and the pests who survive live on to
pass their traits onto their offspring and create super plants that can withstand these
chemicals. This chain of events results in a failed crop owned by a soon to be
bankrupt farmer who is unable to pay back the big name company for the expensive
chemicals. Not only do these chemicals cause an economic problem for
