Oxymorons In Romeo And Juliet
Throughout Shakespeare s Romeo and Juliet and the other poems I have studied, it is evident that
being in love can incite a diverse range of emotions, and the complications and concern it can spark in
those around them. In Shakespeare s prologue to the epic tragedy, it becomes apparent that both
Romeo and his love, Juliet, are in for an immense battle with their emotions when he refers to them as
a pair of star crossed lovers, implying that they re tragically destined to fall apart.
We see at the beginning of the play how naïve and immature young Romeo is from how purely
infatuated he appears to be with Rosaline. This can be seen through a variety of language techines and
emotions used by Shakespeare, one of them being his use of oxymorons ... Show more content on

Within Romeo s speech about Juliet in Act 1, Scene 5, Shakespeare uses a lot of religious imagery to
convey Romeo s intense, passionate feelings towards Juliet. For example, during one of the couple s
first exchanges Romeo refers to his lips as, two blushing pilgrims. His lips are the pilgrims that are
seeking the holy place, which, in this particular case, is Juliet s lips. In saying this, Romeo is almost
placing Juliet on some sort of religious pedestal, implying that she has a God like power and control
over him, much like God would to a pilgrim. His religious references show the severity of their love
and Shakespeare may have done it as it helps create an escape from their damnation according to
Christian values by creating the religion of love. Even though some Elizabethan audience members
may find it difficult to relate to the character of Romeo due to his fickle nature towards love, they
would understand his feelings through religion. This is because during Shakespeare s time relgion was
thriving so the audience may possibly understand how important Juliet is to Romeo by how important
religion is to them. However, others may have been deeply offended by this use of religion for a girl
Romeo just met as he frequently refers to Juliet as some sort of God . This may incite some outrage in
audience members as God is

Clarice Starling
When discussing feminist characters, it s easy to get caught up on the more overtly feminine
personalities, such as Elle Woods from Legally Blond or perhaps Dorothy Gale from The Wizard of
Oz . However, the 1991 film The Silence of the Lambs , an ...intense, gritty crime odyssey, (Grow,
2016) supplies a strong, feminist character who isn t afraid to get down to business. Throughout the
film, Clarice Starling, played by Jodie Foster, silently breaks gender roles in order to compete with the
male authority that she faces all around her. From avoiding suggesting gazes and unwanted sexual
advances, to holding one s ground in a male workplace, Starling takes on a role that is the constant
recipient of the male scrutiny, impulse, and hostility. Clarice is placed into a distinctly feminist role by
the use of powerful cinematography, the actions of her male counterparts and Clarice s own actions
while in the face of ethical adversity. The story concerns the young Clarice Starling, a promising FBI
cadet at a training academy located in Quantico, Virginia. Jack Crawford of the Bureau s Behavioral
Science Unit assigns Starling to befriend the notorious Hannibal Lecter, a former psychiatrist and
imprisoned cannibalistic killer. Starling is forced to cooperate with Dr. Lecter, as his insight proves
useful in identifying Buffalo Bill ; the serial killer responsible for skinning young women just after
murdering them. The transgender killer takes the skin from his victims

Anti Vietnam War Song Woodstock Essay
The song Anti Vietnam War Song Woodstock tells how America needs more soldiers to fight a war
that s nowhere near American soil for a reason that is not well known to the american soldier. Country
Joe is basically saying that the soldiers do not know what they are fighting for and frankly don t give a
damn, all they know is that they have been drafted for a war they do not approve of. Many people of
this time made protest songs against the war and some of the songs leave more to the imagination than
other songs such as the Anti Vietnam War song.
The largest Anti Vietnam conference was held on November 15, 1969, and was hosted by the Vietnam
Moratorium. This convention is believed to be the biggest anti war conference ever in american
history. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This article relates to the song, The House of the Rising Sun , because Eisenhower s position on the
war was that he recommended going to war because no one stopped the rise of Hitler and Mussolini
causing a tragic future. The containment of communism is needed now rather than letting it spread
further, making it harder to get rid of in the future.
The song Handsome Johnny , written by Richie Havens, shows the evolution of war in his song. Each
war the weapon that Handsome Johnny used got more sophisticated and more efficient at killing. This
is a powerful song because people will fight for what they believe in and will even fight for what they
do not know. Handsome Johnny are the soldiers of America, fighting from the civil war, all the way up
to the korean war.
During the 1960 s was when the Anti War movements were most common. There were over hundred
of organizations all fighting for the same thing; Peace. People would write speeches, people would
strike, many people would listen to Anti War music. Many artist in the 1960 s would release songs

Title of Your Report In the novel, Twenty Thousand Leagues Under The Sea by Jules Verne, the
author develops a charming protagonist named professor Arronax. He and his faithful servant Conseil
were originally aboard the Abraham Lincoln in search of a cetacean that had been destroying boats
worldwide. They were on the boat a few months when the finally found this cetacean then it hit the
Abraham Lincoln sending Conseil, Professor Aronnax, and his friend Ned Land overboard. They were
soon rescued by a submarine. The submarine turned out to be the cetacean that had been destroying

You have to alive that special charisma to get along with people so well. This inspires and motivates
Nemo into letting them stay, thrive, live, and learn on the Nautilus. A second example of this is when
he befriends Ned Land, a Canadian harpooner in which the Abraham Lincoln recruited to harpoon the
mighty narwhal they thought they were hunting. He was an arrogant man who believed he was the
best in his field and Arronax (along with conseil) seemed to be the only people he enjoyed to
communicate with, Yes I understand, replied Ned, because the water surrounds me does not penetrate.
Precisely Ned: ... This is another example of Professor Arronax getting people to like him using his
unique charm. Ned became more attentive when talking to Arronax because you could have an
interesting and enjoyable conversation with him. I think his charisma played a very large role in the
story because it allowed him to befriend people that have useful traits and abilities.
One of Professor Arronax s most important traits is his vast knowledge of everything marine biology.
It shows that he is willing to learn new things and and that he also teaches other about the things he
knows. It also contributes to his charisma because people seem

Analysis Of Martin Luther King And Malcolm X
In his inaugural address on August 9th, 1974, President Gerald Ford assured the nation our long
national nightmare is over. He may have spoken too soon. The early 1970s were a bleak time for black
America. So much hope had died with the assassination of Martin Luther King and Malcolm X in the
late 60 s. There were revolts in urban communities across the United States and brutal encounters with
the police (McTernan). Much has been written about the state of the nation in the 70 s but something
extraordinary came out of the fire, music. The music of New York City amid this time is a
transformational and essential foundation for the birth of new music. The funky, groove beats of jazz
and the seductive, energetic sound of salsa erupted in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After about two years at Lincoln, Scott Heron took a year off from an unconventional college career to
write the novels The Vulture and The Nigger Factory, inspired by some of the anger and resentment
Gil felt about Lincoln and the tumult reverberating on other campuses (Baram). He received esteemed
recognition for the publication of The Vulture but he still enjoyed poetry and performing. By the start
of the decade, he realized that he could combine his charged messages with poetry to funk beats to
create a new sound. From this revelation, many of his poems transformed into lyrics for songs that he
composed with Brian. But thanks in large part to the success of his first book of poetry, Small Talk at
125th and Lenox, Scott Heron was introduced to producer Bob Thiele, who had worked with
legendary jazz artists from Louis Armstrong to John Coltrane. Thiele encouraged Scott Heron to
perform his poetry, and for his debut release, Small Talk at 125th and Lenox, recorded him reciting
over an ensemble of percussionists. Most influential on the album was The Revolution Will Not Be
Televised, an aggressive polemic against the major media and white America s ignorance of
increasingly deteriorating conditions in the inner cities (Bush). Based on the dichotomy between the
commercials on television and the marches in the streets not being televised, Scott Heron wrote a

Stoichiometry Lab Report
Stoichiometric Reactions with Phosphoric Acid
By Jaime Conklin
Partner: Deanna Ryan
CHE 120 03
Instructor: Mr. Cusumano
September 30, 2015
Purpose
The purpose of this experiment is to examine the stoichiometric relationship between reagents and the
identity of the products by using three acid/base neutralization reactions of a triprotic acid, phosphoric
acid, and varying molar equivalents of sodium hydroxide. The data will be used to determine the
formula weight of the products and identify the remaining salt for all three reactions.
Introduction
In this experiment, we learned about stoichiometry, empirical formula, molecular formula, polyprotic
acids and bases, metathesis reactions, and moles.
Stoichiometry is a very important part of chemistry. Stoichiometry refers to calculating the masses of
molecules and their products . The reactants are usually given and stoichiometry is used to find the
products of the equations as well balancing the equation. An example of this would be sodium
chloride (NaCl). Stoichiometry will say that if there are ten thousand atoms of sodium and one atom
of chlorine, only one molecule of sodium chloride can be made and that fact can never be changed.
Ex: 10,000Na + 1Cl → NaCl + 9,999Na
Empirical formulas represent the ratio of atoms in a formula. It is expressed in the simplest, small,
whole number ratio. The molecular formula can either be the empirical formula, or a multiple of the
empirical

Reasons behind Lucas´ Suicide in Good Hair Essay
There are three reasons Lucas commits suicide, and each reason teaches an important lesson to Alice.
The first reason is that Lucas felt that he had no identity and did not fit in with his peers and other
social groups. Secondly, Lucas was not able to commit to relationships. The final reason is that Lucas
felt a lot of guilt for attempting to rape Alice. While all of these reasons negatively affected Lucas and
were the reasons behind his suicide, they also taught Alice valuable lessons which allowed her to
make improvements to her life. If it was not for the lessons in identity, cultural perspective, and self
worth, Alice would not have been able to move forward with the changes in her life.

white magazines that she wore every day to school. It wasn t until she started to embrace the stuck up

...it was enough, they said, that I was pretty . The death of Lucas allowed her to see that she had more
control in figuring out where she belongs as a successful writer . In Alice s relationship with Miles,
she had to submit to his will and not live a life that was fulfilling. The pleasures and the fashion that
came with Miles money, did not make her feel complete. In the same way, Lucas death teaches Alice
that she should not settle on things that did not add to her self worth.
With Alice s identity, the role of fashion has always been a factor in her family s identity for her as a
child. This role of fashion and beauty is also present in her understanding of the culture of black
women in the tribe. As with the example of her grandmother who was abused by her grandfather with
being a beauty , Alice has learned from her family history that the preconceptions of what beauty is
should not be something to shy away from or to use the term beauty as a way to fill the void in the
way she lives her life. The lessons of identity from Lucas

It was an ordinary school day in A.P. Psychology at Columbus High School. There I was, sitting in my
ordinary world, completing the same daily routine, school. I had psychology towards the end of the
day, so I was mentally and physically exhausted. However, Coach McCoy was my favorite teacher,
and she made Psychology very interesting for me. We recently discussed the chapter about disabilities
and other impairments a person may face throughout a lifetime. After the lesson, my teacher
mentioned a camp she volunteered at during the summer called Camp Abilities, the main goal of
which is to aid children with visual impairments. The camp s motto read as A Loss of Sight, Never a
Loss of Vision. Columbus State University sponsored the camp each Memorial Day weekend. The
camp is open to all children with some sort of visual impairment from the ages of nine to eighteen.
Immediately I was intrigued, and had a sudden urge to learn more about the camp itself. I knew
instantaneously that I wanted to be involved in such a tremendous organization. I felt as if Coach
McCoy s presentation about Camp Abilities was my call to the adventure of volunteering at the camp.
After watching the camp s promotional video, I yearned to learn more about the different recreational
activities offered, such as beep baseball and obstacle courses. Seeing the counselors interact with the
campers in the promotion video, I knew Camp Abilities was just for me. I signed up right away, and

The Revival Of Confucian Ethics

The success of the Korean educational system is credited to being influenced through
Confucianism, resulting in the educational fever that has encompassed South Korea. When
Confucianism was introduced during the Chosûn Dynasty (1392 1910) it originally served as a way to
maintain power for the upperclassmen. However, Confucianism began to replace the influence of
Buddhism, leaving in its place, a national ideology and religion, largely determined politics, economy,
society, culture, and education (Lee 3). In other words, Confucian ideals began to form the basis of
Korean society during the Chosûn Dynasty, which continued into Japanese colonialism (1910 1945)
and remnants of it are still present today better known as Neo Confucian. These ideals helped Koreans
survive the turmoil it experienced as it was colonized, liberated, went through the Korean War and the
1997 IMF crisis. Since education had only accessible for the elite during the Chôsun dynasty, its
association with this drove Koreans to embed education as way to achieve upward social mobility.
However, social mobility through education is no longer as attainable as it was a few decades ago due
to the overpopulated amount of students seeking higher education and competitive job market.
Subsequently, Neo Confucianism is beginning

In the beginning of the documentary, Jari Osbourne indicates that as a child she was dis appointed of
her father because he did not share stories with her. The only belief she had of her father was that he
was a soldier, went to oversees and caught malaria, nothing heroic at all. When she was old enough
she learned that her father was discriminated against due to his race and that joining the Canadian

her father Alex Louie why he did not share stories with her as a child and why he felt the need to

portray it in very different ways. In the documentary, Alex Louie and his peers interviewed are vocal
about the obstacles they were put through, however they clearly state that they would not bring up the
past if they were having a random conversation in a coffee shop on a normal day. This speaks volumes
in terms of educating younger generations about the past. Aunt Emily in Obasan ensures that Naomi
knows about the past however Obasan chooses to let it go and leave the past with the past. The deep
question would be which character is doing the right thing, if the younger generations do not know
about the past; they may lose some form of culture and not fully understand what their ancestors
fought for. However, if they know too much about the past and constantly are reminded of it, then it
may drive them away from their culture and traditions. The balance and limits are major problems in

Life Outcomes of The Cultural Revolution
How did the disruption of the educational system during the Cultural Revolution affect the life
outcomes of people who were getting their educations in the period 1966 75? By using this as a topic
to question, I will be reviewing the impact of the lack of education had on people as they got older and
began looking for jobs in China. Although it may seem clear to many on why missing an education
would make it harder for one to obtain a job, I still think it needs to be looked into as why this
education was stopped, and following with the affects it had on people. There are three elements to
this idea of disruption of education. One side is that education was no longer the main point, but that

We use a single case study methodology to focus on a failed IS project implementation. The study
uses grounded theory (Glaser and Strauss 1967; c.f., Charmaz 2013; c.f., Corbin and Strauss 2015) in
its focus on principles of emergence by which systematic generation and conceptualization of data
provides meaning and relevance to concepts (Glaser and Strauss 1967). In accordance with the
recommendations of engaged scholarship by Van de Ven (2007), the project began with the
identification of a research problem identified to be relevant to experienced practitioners in leading
organizations of IT project management. To develop a base understanding of the challenges
experienced in the execution of IT projects, we engaged informally with key industry informants.
Observations made in this stage were used to inform the specific research objectives and question put
forth in the Introduction. Specifically, observations were used as data that was conceptualized based
on theoretical sensitivity in line with grounded theory (Glaser 1978; Strauss and Corbin 1990). Data
complexity was used in the early stages of the research to allow the relevant themes and findings to
emerge from the data and to avoid forcing the data to fit existing theories (Urquhart 2013). The
conceptual development aspect of grounded theory allows us to discover theory from the data and
identify the theories and tenets within that are applicable to IT contexts of interest (Jabareen 2009;

A Woman Embroidering A Dragon Analysis
Katsushika Hokusai lived from 1760 to 1849. During his lifetime, Hokusai trained many artists.
Unlike most masters, Hokusai preferred to tutor them for only a few years so they could be
independent. As a result, his students produced a variety of subjects. Hokusai, however, did introduce
his students to the idea of painting under a patron to create a surimono. In particular, his students
Ryuryukyo Shinsai and Teisai Hokuba operated under this principle of patronage. One can observe the
theme of patronage in these two individuals through their subjects of New Year festivals and styles
that pay homage to Hokusai. Patronage was an essential aspect to the life of a painter. While some
artists could sell their works commercially on the market, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, the interior spaces of the prints resemble Hokusai s New Year s Day at the Ogiya Brothel
(Fig. 4). Like Hokusai, Shinsai and Hokuba apply a blown off roof technique. The rooms also tend to
be on an exaggerated diagonal line. While his students include less people in their prints, the people
are grouped similarly to Hokusai s creating analogous angles. All three artists utilize the same colors
as well in their prints: yellow, blue, green, brown, black, and reds. The fabrics on the individuals also
have unique patterns on different layers to create a rich image. While Shinsai s refreshment print does
not include people, it does follow a comparable model of Hokusai. Unlike people, Hokusai gives more
depth to objects in his print. This technique is used in order to demonstrate space in an image. Shinsai
applies this understanding in his still life print, as he shows the different angles to his objects.
However, unlike Hokusai, Shinsai did not include a background to his objects, and instead they seem
to float in space on the paper. In becoming independent artists, Shinsai and Hokuba used their
knowledge of Hokusai s painting style, and applied it to fit their own

Motherhood And Symbolism In Cynthia Ozick s The Shawl
The spine chilling experiences Jewish individuals faced during the holocaust are conveyed well in the
short story The Shawl as the author, Cynthia Ozick illustrates the horrific battle of motherhood and
strife for survival they faced. Rosa, Ozick s main character experiences an internal battle of nurturing
her infant Magda and following her motherly instincts or fighting for her own survival. Magda another
crucial character grips onto the ropes of life through the threads of the shawl but when she loses her
shawl she loses her life showing the harsh realities of the concentration camps. Through the use of
symbolism and carefully orchestrated imagery Ozick brings to life the unspeakable struggles the
Jewish faced to survive in the midst ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Ozick s eloquent imagery and symbols of the shawl and Magda are carried on into the body of the
story. For now the shawl is viewed as magic for it nourishes Magda for three days insuring her
survival while her mother can t provide for her. The shawl keeps her alive much longer than anyone
anticipates showing how the shawl depicts the will to live. Also as Magda laughs at the shawl blowing
in the wind we see the innocence of the child, and the protected view of the world she has as she s
been hidden in the cover of the shawl, while avoiding the harsh realities Stella and Rosa must face.
Stella out of her own will for life takes the shawl from Magda leading to her immediate death as she
goes to look for it as it her source of livelihood but is meet with the gates of hell instead. Ozicks
conveys clearly that life could not be without the shawl for it was Magda s source of survival. The
ending of the story is packed with imagery and the reoccurring shawl symbolism as Rosa goes to get
the shawl in hopes of saving Magda. While getting the shawl Rosa thinks of life on the other side of
the fence where there laid green meadows speckled with dandelions and deep colored violets, showing
simple beauties of life they were deprived of in the camp. However while getting the shawl Magda
gets taken by a guard, as Rosa sees from a distance she waves the shawl for Magda to see in giving
her hope to live but as the shawl and her become more distant she gets killed by hitting

The Influence Of The Pick Mix Concept
When consumers buy products from a retail shop, they tend to opt to shop the products from a brand
that they have trust in and that is a familiar brand. This means consumers prefer to select a recognised
brand rather than choosing cheaper products or less familiar ones, even if the branded product has the
same quality as the generic products (Goworek McGoldrick, 2015). Thus, brand awareness is a very
important factor that can bring a brand power in connection with people s mind set. However, it might
prove hard to create a high brand awareness for the Pick Mix concept that in general have a low
recognition factor, since this is applied a little different from other retail products in the retail shop.
Also, the Pick Mix concept is that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Currently, Cloetta has its own brand name for the Pick Mix concept; Godisfavoriter for candies which
means candy favorites and Natursnack for nuts which means natural snack (Cloetta, 2015). It should
be examined how much of an effect these names have on consumers brand awareness. If consumers
look at these names in the retail shop for example, in Coop, it will hardly remind them that Cloetta is
connected with these names. Kapferer (2012) points out that [a] brand is not the name of a product. It
is the vision that drives the creation of products and services under that name. That vision, the key
belief of the brand and its core value is called identity (p149). In this point of view, there is a key issue
of how the brand names of Cloetta s Pick Mix concepts can provide the image to consumers so they
can perceive Cloetta s brand as having a unique value by selecting their brand. By comparison with
their main competitor Candy King s Pick Mix, they have the name Karamellkungen which is the same
name translated into Swedish as their company name and same logo as domestically and
internationally. By doing this, they deliver a more distinct vision of their brand connected with the
core brand and it can render some positive brand image effects on consumer s

Coordinate transformation
In rare case may be done a numerical solution in a Cartesian coordinate system.
For numerical simulations is used usually a curve coordinate system. In order to prevent of geometric
errors in solutions in finite volume methods, is necessary to the precise determinationof Surface
vector. As an example of an airfoilwhich can be describedwith difficulty the curve of airfoil by
Cartesian grid point and points lie within the airfoil. Figure 1.2) grid system
Therefore it is better to select a curve coordinate system. As is shown in figure1 2.
Due to this coordinate transformation increase indeed complexity of equation with respect to Cartesian
form but has many advantageous like improvement of efficient and accuracy in numerical method.
In the transformation from the physical domain to the computational domain, a one to

oneand only one point in the computational domain, point B, and vice versa. Figure 2.2) Grid
configuration in physical domain (left) and computational domain (right)
Due to the transformation the transition from a curvilinear non orthogonal physical domain is carried
out on an orthogonal computational domain (Figure2 2).
Almost infinitely complex body boundaries in physical space are converted to rectangular plane in the
computational space.

Essay about Cesar Chavez
Cesar Chavez Since before the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo, race relations between the United States
and Mexico have been less than great. The United States has a history of prejudice and racism. On a
national level this sentiment has formed some legislation, and on a lower level it has formed the way
many people conduct their lives. Mexican have been exploited for their work for decades. One man
fought long and hard for his people and their civil liberties. That man was Cesar Chavez. Cesar

began in Congress in 1942. It s purpose was to import seasonal contract laborers in times of labor

braceros. The wages that farmers paid the braceros was a lot lower than that they would have to pay
the local workers. The farmers were also able to make their money back from the braceros by charging
them excess for room and board. Cesar combated against the farmers by organizing boycotts, sit

CSO. He served this position for two years. In 1962, Chavez proposed that the CSO support a union
movement for farm workers. The movement was brought to a vote a vote and rejected. During his
time at the CSO, he had met Dolores Huerta, a woman who shared his passion for obtaining farm
worker s civil rights. His plan was to fight for the rights of the migrant and resident farm workers in
California. To achieve this goal, Chavez set out to form a viable union among the thousands of
disenfranchised farm workers. Chavez encountered many obstacles after the formation of his union
and at the beginning of their strike. Aside from the fact that many of the workers were hesitant to join

Individualism In Hawthorne s The Scarlet Letter And The...
The American Romantic era, lasting from early to mid 19th century, is characterized by its emphasis
on emotion and individualism. Within this movement, in Nathaniel Hawthorne s The Scarlet Letter
and Herman Melville s Bartleby, The Scrivener: A Story of Wall Street, the characters set at the center
of their respective narratives both challenge societal prejudices through actions different from the
social norm. Hawthorne s protagonist, Hester Prynne, is met with disgust and disdain from the Puritan
community after committing only one sin; contrarily, Melville s Bartleby is first met with awe and
love from his boss on Wall Street, working as a copyist. While Hester goes above and beyond to

This woman has brought shame upon us all, and ought to die, (Hawthorne 49). With these harsh
words, Hester begins a new chapter of her life in New England as a condemned adulterer. The gossips
speak of marks and brands upon her bodice and forehead, and one is bold enough to suggest that she
ought to die, demonstrating exactly how hated Hester is at the beginning of the novel. Hawthorne s
statement that the gossip who suggests the worst punishment, death, is the ugliest of them all infers
that all the gossips are very ugly, while Hester remains beautiful, subtly providing a certain insight
that perhaps Hester is not the devil the town thinks she is. This demonstrates how Hester stands apart
from others in society, to such an extreme degree that she even looks different from the other Puritans.
Through the ostracization of Hester, Hawthorne shows how her lack of motivational individuality has
brought this fate upon her. He wants to prove to his reader that lack of this element creates an
unbalanced and isolated life, one of which nobody wants to live in. Following the time on the

Roof Replacement
Determining whether or not a home needs a new roof is not difficult. Homeowners simply have to
look for clues that alert them to issues. When it comes to Roof Replacement Ft Worth residents just
have to look for these clues, call in a professional company such as Greystone Roofing to check out
the roof. They can inspect the roof to see if an entire roof is needed, or if the roof that s on the roof can
be repaired.
Repair or replace
If a few shingles have blown off during a storm, or if there s a small leak in one area, replacing is an
economical option. It also makes the most sense. After all, why incur the expense of installing a new
roof if there are only a couple of shingles that need to be replaced.
In some cases one section of a roof may be damaged. Perhaps, a tree limb has fallen on an area of the
roof which resulted in damage to 1/4 of the roof. This is another time when repairing may be the more
favorable option. However, if the roof is older and will need replacing soon many homeowners opt for

how the shingles lay on the roof. Buckling shingles, or those that are curling are an indication that
they need to be replaced.

What Is Macarthur s Last Speech
General MacArthur was station on the Philippine islands during the start of WWII. He commanded all
of the U.S troops on the island and had his command center stationed on Corregidor (Biography.com,
2012). On this island he watched as the Japanese army invaded the Philippines. Outnumbered and
outgunned, MacArthur was forced to retreat to Australia. When he arrived in Australia he made his I
shall return speech. In this speech he promised that he would return to the Philippines and force the
Japanese off the islands. After a couple of years he finally gained enough troops to return to the
Philippines. Once he was on the island he gave his I have returned speech (Breuer, 2001). Reasons for
Going Back The general consensus is that MacArthur went back because of his father s past, his
personal ego, or because of his national duty. Many biographers or historians can agree that he went
back for at least one of these reasons. Geoffrey Perret said MacArthur saw his return to the Philippines
as a way of redeeming American national pride and honor. And his own pride and honor (PBS, 2012).
If this is true then we must ask ourselves why MacArthur s first speech back on the island was
directed at the Philippines. The first reason ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

famous Bataan death march, where thousands of American POWs were tortured and killed by the
Japanese army. An example was in the book Ghost Soldiers. In this book it describes an event where
the American POWs were led into air raid shelters and then burned alive by the Japanese (Sides,
2001). MacArthur would have heard about this and all he could do was wait till he had

Fall Of Yugoslavia
Yugoslavia fell in the 1990 s into a mess of right wing nationalistic states at war, resulted in numerous
war crime, the bitter end was the result of the fragmented political atmosphere in the wake of Tito s
death. Significantly, though, the Soviet Union came to a relatively peaceful end due to Gorbachev s
leadership style, while the inability for different factions to compromise led to Milošević s rise and the
disturbing events of the 1990 s. Tito s government, while deservedly less notorious than Stalin s, was
not able to achieve much economic success, and after his death the country s centralized leadership
began to fragment. Tito was replaced with a collective presidency, but this system began to fall apart

While Tito s oppression may have made people more intrigued by its rise after his death, this fails to
explain why things ended the way they did. When Stalin died things changed in the USSR, but it didn
t fall. And notably, Yugoslavia remained (de facto) unified until 1992, twelve years after Tito s death. I
m convinced that things happened the way they did because nationalism appealed to the people;
Milošević sought to keep Yugoslavia unified, but with Serbian supremacy, a promise which would
have sounded good if you were a Serbian worried about the future of your people and your nation, and
used heinous means to try to achieve his goal. Perhaps if some sort of plan had been made prior to Tito
s death that addressed the problems that could arise, Yugoslavia may have lasted longer. Some people
certainly hold onto memories of a time when Yugoslavia was at peace, what Dubravka Ugrešić called
Yugonostalgia in her novel The Ministry of Pain, indicating that there may have been the potential for
Yugoslavia to stay how it was had nationalism not been so appealing. In short, Yugoslavia may have

The Family Tree Of Zoroastrianism, Judaism, And Christianity
This week we read about the family tree of Zoroastrianism, Judaism, and Christianity. These three
religions offer a beautiful perspective of evolutionary religious development, while still representing
independence of faith way.
Zoroastrianism is an ancient religion from Ancient Iran with a current following of 124,000 to 190,000
practitioners left, although it is believed that for roughly 1000 years it was the reigning faith practice
of the Iranian empire. Zoroastrianism was founded by Zarathushtra, a trained Indo Iranian priest and
mystical seeker. Zoroastrianism was possibly the first monotheistic religion and known in Iran as
Mazdayasna the worship of the Wise Lord, Ahura Mazda (1). The God of Zoroastrianism was Ahura
Mazda the creator god , (1) Ahura Mazda was surrounded by angelic presences manifesting six
attributes of the divine (1). It is believed that these attributes were separate deities at one point and that
Zarathushtra molded these to fit hit monotheistic belief system. While Zoroastrianism greatly
influenced Judaism and Christianity (as well as Hinduism), yet ritualistically the practices differ such
as The devout will often dip their finger into water, apply it to their eyes and forehead...it is a great sin
to pollute water...Zoroastrians regard the natural world with profound reverence and are taught from
childhood to avoid defiling it.(2) As previously mentioned Zoroastrianism greatly influenced a
multitude of religions, one of which was

Comparing Sweat And The Gilded Six Bits
Navin Shiwgobin CRN 1337 Professor Chance March 4, 2016 Compare and Contrasting Sweat and
The Gilded Six Bits In the short stories, Sweat and The Gilded Six bit , by Zora Neale Hurston, both
take place in her hometown of Eatonville, Florida, during the early 1900s. Eatonville was one of the
first towns founded by African Americans in the US. Because they are set in the same town, the stories
characters speak in a broken, English dialect of the South, to reflect the era and location in which they
lived. These stories depict identical circumstances with different consequences. They illustrate the
betrayal of adultery within both of the marriages of Sykes and Delia, from Sweat , and Missy May and
Joe from The Gilded Six Bits . Furthermore, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In Sweat , Delia is absolutely terrified by the idea of snakes. Sykes knows this but that doesn t stop
him from antagonizing her with the thought. He uses a bullwhip to scare her, as it resembles a snake.
He puts it over her shoulder while she is doing work, and she reacts terrified, in which greatly pleases
Sykes. Sykes, what you throw dat whip on me like dat? You know it would skeer me looks just like a
snake, an you knows how skeered Ah is of snakes. (Hurston 1) Sykes still isn t finished with his
tormenting, as he brings home a rattlesnake. This is where irony strikes, as the same snake he used to
torment Delia bites him and inevitably kills him. In The Gilded Six Bits , the theme of irony is present
as well. With Joe s constant praise of Slemmons, this ironically contributed to Missy s betrayal as he
constantly peaked her interest about him. Joe and Missy May dont realize that they possess something
far more valuable than gold. They have each other s love, which proves to be a very strong thing
nonetheless. Missy May almost throws this away for a gold coin, to which she finds out that it is just a
gold plated half dollar. She took it into her hands trembling and saw that it was no gold piece. It was a
gilded half dollar. (Hurston 734) This experience serves as a precious lesson to them both: all that

Red Dress 1946 By Alice Munro Individuality And Conformity
In the story Red Dress 1946 by Alice Munro Individuality and Conformity is discussed. Some
examples of this is during the story is there was a carnival atmosphere of brutality in the room at such
times, scaring weak and suspect people like me . The reason this is important to the text and idea of
the essay is because we often feel left out when we are ourselves. In life, we want to fit in we are
made to want this just like the main character in the story she wants a dress like my friend Lonnie had.
Is it implied that she is in a poor finance situation, as many were at that time. The author Alice Munro
portrays situational social pressure when the main character gets home from the dance a quote to

An example of this is on page nine after the protagonist s dress is make by her mother the quote I will
use to describe this is well nobody ever made me a dress when I was in High School. Reasons why
this is important is because this shows the mother s why this is important is because we all feel it at
some point and for the lead character this is during the days before the dance. A perfect illustration of
family pressure is when the Mother of the friend of Lonnie exclaims, I doubt if she appreciates it.
When we have home pressures some of us do things only to please the people around us an example
of the protagonist doing this is when every morning, including the day of the dance, I woke up in
perfect health. This is ample evidence because the narrator shows how she wants a reason to not go to
the dance. Another image of family pressure is when the main character is pressured into having the
protection of all female rituals. The reason this is important is because she is trying to hide behind
beauty to not show her insecurity to the point where she looks like a Zulu with her hair curled. Further
proof of family pressure is on page 12 when the mother says will I wish I could take a picture I am
really, genuinely proud of that fit. And you might even say thank you for it. The mother pressures her
daughter to say a false thank you this image is given by Alice Munro to show a teenage sassiness and

How It Will End By Duhamel Summary
Relationships, Comparisons, Assumptions, and What Lies Beneath As time passes in a relationship, it
is inevitable that confrontations are bound to occur. Whether small disagreements created from minor
issues, to mediocre arguments based on daily matters, to serious incidents that can reflect relationship
taboos, it is a couple s perception and understanding of each other that can strengthen or weaken their
union. The poem How It Will End by Denise Duhamel portrays two couples involved in similar
matters as those previously described. One couple is having, what appears to be, an argument at the
beach and the second couple is watching them from afar, as they re on a boardwalk. As the poem
progresses, the second couple s assumptions of what ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In Duhamel s poem, this is clearly represented. One couple appears to be far from having a happy day
at the beach; they re arguing, the female s body language reveals a need for acceptance, distance, and
rejection. The second couple s belief of what is stirring and their relationship comparison based on
these thoughts, solidifies the underlying truth that marriage is not easy. Lines 20 to 21: I start to coach
the girl to leave her no good lifeguard, but my husband predicts he ll never leave, are depicting the
couple s mirroring on what they would actually do in this situation. The relationship judgement
concept continues in lines 23 through 25 with That s your problem you think every fight is funny. You
never take her seriously, and he says, You never even give a guy a chance and you re always nagging
where a compromise issue is portrayed this time, obviously on both couples. Relationships require you
to extend yourself for the sake of the other, that is collectively understanding each other s needs,
accept mistakes, and practice forgiveness. Should relationships be compared to others? Is the concept
of assumption safe for a union? Is proof necessary for a couple to be happy? Nothing good ever comes
of comparing your relationship to someone else s. It is better to acknowledge that each bond is unique
and has its strengths and weaknesses. One of the most important reasons not to compare relationships
is that you re not seeing the full picture. Furthermore, in the last two lines of the poem: She has her
arms around his neck and is crying into his shoulder, He whisks her up into his hut. We look around,
but no one is watching us it confirms that the second couple has issues lying deep beneath their own.
Once you begin comparing relationships, you ll probably start focusing on the

  • 2. Oxymorons In Romeo And Juliet Throughout Shakespeare s Romeo and Juliet and the other poems I have studied, it is evident that being in love can incite a diverse range of emotions, and the complications and concern it can spark in those around them. In Shakespeare s prologue to the epic tragedy, it becomes apparent that both Romeo and his love, Juliet, are in for an immense battle with their emotions when he refers to them as a pair of star crossed lovers, implying that they re tragically destined to fall apart. We see at the beginning of the play how naïve and immature young Romeo is from how purely infatuated he appears to be with Rosaline. This can be seen through a variety of language techines and emotions used by Shakespeare, one of them being his use of oxymorons ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Within Romeo s speech about Juliet in Act 1, Scene 5, Shakespeare uses a lot of religious imagery to convey Romeo s intense, passionate feelings towards Juliet. For example, during one of the couple s first exchanges Romeo refers to his lips as, two blushing pilgrims. His lips are the pilgrims that are seeking the holy place, which, in this particular case, is Juliet s lips. In saying this, Romeo is almost placing Juliet on some sort of religious pedestal, implying that she has a God like power and control over him, much like God would to a pilgrim. His religious references show the severity of their love and Shakespeare may have done it as it helps create an escape from their damnation according to Christian values by creating the religion of love. Even though some Elizabethan audience members may find it difficult to relate to the character of Romeo due to his fickle nature towards love, they would understand his feelings through religion. This is because during Shakespeare s time relgion was thriving so the audience may possibly understand how important Juliet is to Romeo by how important religion is to them. However, others may have been deeply offended by this use of religion for a girl Romeo just met as he frequently refers to Juliet as some sort of God . This may incite some outrage in audience members as God is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Clarice Starling When discussing feminist characters, it s easy to get caught up on the more overtly feminine personalities, such as Elle Woods from Legally Blond or perhaps Dorothy Gale from The Wizard of Oz . However, the 1991 film The Silence of the Lambs , an ...intense, gritty crime odyssey, (Grow, 2016) supplies a strong, feminist character who isn t afraid to get down to business. Throughout the film, Clarice Starling, played by Jodie Foster, silently breaks gender roles in order to compete with the male authority that she faces all around her. From avoiding suggesting gazes and unwanted sexual advances, to holding one s ground in a male workplace, Starling takes on a role that is the constant recipient of the male scrutiny, impulse, and hostility. Clarice is placed into a distinctly feminist role by the use of powerful cinematography, the actions of her male counterparts and Clarice s own actions while in the face of ethical adversity. The story concerns the young Clarice Starling, a promising FBI cadet at a training academy located in Quantico, Virginia. Jack Crawford of the Bureau s Behavioral Science Unit assigns Starling to befriend the notorious Hannibal Lecter, a former psychiatrist and imprisoned cannibalistic killer. Starling is forced to cooperate with Dr. Lecter, as his insight proves useful in identifying Buffalo Bill ; the serial killer responsible for skinning young women just after murdering them. • 4. Anti Vietnam War Song Woodstock Essay The song Anti Vietnam War Song Woodstock tells how America needs more soldiers to fight a war that s nowhere near American soil for a reason that is not well known to the american soldier. Country Joe is basically saying that the soldiers do not know what they are fighting for and frankly don t give a damn, all they know is that they have been drafted for a war they do not approve of. Many people of this time made protest songs against the war and some of the songs leave more to the imagination than other songs such as the Anti Vietnam War song. The largest Anti Vietnam conference was held on November 15, 1969, and was hosted by the Vietnam Moratorium. This convention is believed to be the biggest anti war conference ever in american history. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This article relates to the song, The House of the Rising Sun , because Eisenhower s position on the war was that he recommended going to war because no one stopped the rise of Hitler and Mussolini causing a tragic future. The containment of communism is needed now rather than letting it spread further, making it harder to get rid of in the future. The song Handsome Johnny , written by Richie Havens, shows the evolution of war in his song. Each war the weapon that Handsome Johnny used got more sophisticated and more efficient at killing. This is a powerful song because people will fight for what they believe in and will even fight for what they do not know. Handsome Johnny are the soldiers of America, fighting from the civil war, all the way up to the korean war. During the 1960 s was when the Anti War movements were most common. There were over hundred of organizations all fighting for the same thing; Peace. People would write speeches, people would strike, many people would listen to Anti War music. • 6. Analysis Of Martin Luther King And Malcolm X In his inaugural address on August 9th, 1974, President Gerald Ford assured the nation our long national nightmare is over. He may have spoken too soon. The early 1970s were a bleak time for black America. So much hope had died with the assassination of Martin Luther King and Malcolm X in the late 60 s. There were revolts in urban communities across the United States and brutal encounters with the police (McTernan). Much has been written about the state of the nation in the 70 s but something extraordinary came out of the fire, music. After about two years at Lincoln, Scott Heron took a year off from an unconventional college career to write the novels The Vulture and The Nigger Factory, inspired by some of the anger and resentment Gil felt about Lincoln and the tumult reverberating on other campuses (Baram). He received esteemed recognition for the publication of The Vulture but he still enjoyed poetry and performing. By the start of the decade, he realized that he could combine his charged messages with poetry to funk beats to create a new sound. From this revelation, many of his poems transformed into lyrics for songs that he composed with Brian. But thanks in large part to the success of his first book of poetry, Small Talk at 125th and Lenox, Scott Heron was introduced to producer Bob Thiele, who had worked with legendary jazz artists from Louis Armstrong to John Coltrane. Thiele encouraged Scott Heron to perform his poetry, and for his debut release, Small Talk at 125th and Lenox, recorded him reciting over an ensemble of percussionists. Most influential on the album was The Revolution Will Not Be Televised, an aggressive polemic against the major media and white America s ignorance of increasingly deteriorating conditions in the inner cities (Bush). Stoichiometry Lab Report Stoichiometric Reactions with Phosphoric Acid By Jaime Conklin Partner: Deanna Ryan CHE 120 03 Instructor: Mr. Cusumano September 30, 2015 Purpose The purpose of this experiment is to examine the stoichiometric relationship between reagents and the identity of the products by using three acid/base neutralization reactions of a triprotic acid, phosphoric acid, and varying molar equivalents of sodium hydroxide. The data will be used to determine the formula weight of the products and identify the remaining salt for all three reactions. Introduction In this experiment, we learned about stoichiometry, empirical formula, molecular formula, polyprotic acids and bases, metathesis reactions, and moles. Stoichiometry is a very important part of chemistry. Stoichiometry refers to calculating the masses of molecules and their products . The reactants are usually given and stoichiometry is used to find the products of the equations as well balancing the equation. An example of this would be sodium chloride (NaCl). Stoichiometry will say that if there are ten thousand atoms of sodium and one atom of chlorine, only one molecule of sodium chloride can be made and that fact can never be changed. Ex: 10,000Na + 1Cl → NaCl + 9,999Na Empirical formulas represent the ratio of atoms in a formula. It is expressed in the simplest, small, whole number ratio. The molecular formula can either be the empirical formula, or a multiple of the empirical ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The first reason is that Lucas felt that he had no identity and did not fit in with his peers and other social groups. Secondly, Lucas was not able to commit to relationships. The final reason is that Lucas felt a lot of guilt for attempting to rape Alice. While all of these reasons negatively affected Lucas and were the reasons behind his suicide, they also taught Alice valuable lessons which allowed her to make improvements to her life. The notion of her childhood from her parents that the son should be smart and go to school while she should be satisfied because, ...it was enough, they said, that I was pretty . The death of Lucas allowed her to see that she had more control in figuring out where she belongs as a successful writer . In the same way, Lucas death teaches Alice that she should not settle on things that did not add to her self worth. With Alice s identity, the role of fashion has always been a factor in her family s identity for her as a child. This role of fashion and beauty is also present in her understanding of the culture of black women in the tribe. As with the example of her grandmother who was abused by her grandfather with being a beauty , Alice has learned from her family history that the preconceptions of what beauty is should not be something to shy away from or to use the term beauty as a way to fill the void in the way she lives her life. There I was, sitting in my ordinary world, completing the same daily routine, school. I had psychology towards the end of the day, so I was mentally and physically exhausted. However, Coach McCoy was my favorite teacher, and she made Psychology very interesting for me. We recently discussed the chapter about disabilities and other impairments a person may face throughout a lifetime. After the lesson, my teacher mentioned a camp she volunteered at during the summer called Camp Abilities, the main goal of which is to aid children with visual impairments. The camp s motto read as A Loss of Sight, Never a Loss of Vision. Columbus State University sponsored the camp each Memorial Day weekend. The camp is open to all children with some sort of visual impairment from the ages of nine to eighteen. Immediately I was intrigued, and had a sudden urge to learn more about the camp itself. I knew instantaneously that I wanted to be involved in such a tremendous organization. I felt as if Coach McCoy s presentation about Camp Abilities was my call to the adventure of volunteering at the camp. After watching the camp s promotional video, I yearned to learn more about the different recreational activities offered, such as beep baseball and obstacle courses. Seeing the counselors interact with the campers in the promotion video, I knew Camp Abilities was just for me. I signed up right away, and later I was informed ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The success of the Korean educational system is credited to being influenced through Confucianism, resulting in the educational fever that has encompassed South Korea. When Confucianism was introduced during the Chosûn Dynasty (1392 1910) it originally served as a way to maintain power for the upperclassmen. However, Confucianism began to replace the influence of Buddhism, leaving in its place, a national ideology and religion, largely determined politics, economy, society, culture, and education (Lee 3). In other words, Confucian ideals began to form the basis of Korean society during the Chosûn Dynasty, which continued into Japanese colonialism (1910 1945) and remnants of it are still present today better known as Neo Confucian. These ideals helped Koreans survive the turmoil it experienced as it was colonized, liberated, went through the Korean War and the 1997 IMF crisis. Since education had only accessible for the elite during the Chôsun dynasty, its association with this drove Koreans to embed education as way to achieve upward social mobility. The study uses grounded theory (Glaser and Strauss 1967; c.f., Charmaz 2013; c.f., Corbin and Strauss 2015) in its focus on principles of emergence by which systematic generation and conceptualization of data provides meaning and relevance to concepts (Glaser and Strauss 1967). In accordance with the recommendations of engaged scholarship by Van de Ven (2007), the project began with the identification of a research problem identified to be relevant to experienced practitioners in leading organizations of IT project management. To develop a base understanding of the challenges experienced in the execution of IT projects, we engaged informally with key industry informants. Observations made in this stage were used to inform the specific research objectives and question put forth in the Introduction. Specifically, observations were used as data that was conceptualized based on theoretical sensitivity in line with grounded theory (Glaser 1978; Strauss and Corbin 1990). Data complexity was used in the early stages of the research to allow the relevant themes and findings to emerge from the data and to avoid forcing the data to fit existing theories (Urquhart 2013). The conceptual development aspect of grounded theory allows us to discover theory from the data and identify the theories and tenets within that are applicable to IT contexts of interest (Jabareen 2009; Birks et ... If consumers look at these names in the retail shop for example, in Coop, it will hardly remind them that Cloetta is connected with these names. The reason this is important to the text and idea of the essay is because we often feel left out when we are ourselves. In life, we want to fit in we are made to want this just like the main character in the story she wants a dress like my friend Lonnie had. Is it implied that she is in a poor finance situation, as many were at that time. The author Alice Munro portrays situational social pressure when the main character gets home from the dance a quote to support this oppressive obligation I had, ... An example of this is on page nine after the protagonist s dress is make by her mother the quote I will use to describe this is well nobody ever made me a dress when I was in High School. Reasons why this is important is because this shows the mother s why this is important is because we all feel it at some point and for the lead character this is during the days before the dance. A perfect illustration of family pressure is when the Mother of the friend of Lonnie exclaims, I doubt if she appreciates it. When we have home pressures some of us do things only to please the people around us an example of the protagonist doing this is when every morning, including the day of the dance, I woke up in perfect health. This is ample evidence because the narrator shows how she wants a reason to not go to the dance. Another image of family pressure is when the main character is pressured into having the protection of all female rituals. The reason this is important is because she is trying to hide behind beauty to not show her insecurity to the point where she looks like a Zulu with her hair curled. Further proof of family pressure is on page 12 when the mother says will I wish I could take a picture I am really, genuinely proud of that fit. And you might even say thank you for it. The mother pressures her daughter to say a false thank you this image is given by Alice Munro to show a teenage sassiness and it gives ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 33. How It Will End By Duhamel Summary Relationships, Comparisons, Assumptions, and What Lies Beneath As time passes in a relationship, it is inevitable that confrontations are bound to occur. Whether small disagreements created from minor issues, to mediocre arguments based on daily matters, to serious incidents that can reflect relationship taboos, it is a couple s perception and understanding of each other that can strengthen or weaken their union. The poem How It Will End by Denise Duhamel portrays two couples involved in similar matters as those previously described. One couple appears to be far from having a happy day at the beach; they re arguing, the female s body language reveals a need for acceptance, distance, and rejection. The second couple s belief of what is stirring and their relationship comparison based on these thoughts, solidifies the underlying truth that marriage is not easy. Lines 20 to 21: I start to coach the girl to leave her no good lifeguard, but my husband predicts he ll never leave, are depicting the couple s mirroring on what they would actually do in this situation. The relationship judgement concept continues in lines 23 through 25 with That s your problem you think every fight is funny. You never take her seriously, and he says, You never even give a guy a chance and you re always nagging where a compromise issue is portrayed this time, obviously on both couples. Relationships require you to extend yourself for the sake of the other, that is collectively understanding each other s needs, accept mistakes, and practice forgiveness. Should relationships be compared to others? Is the concept of assumption safe for a union? Is proof necessary for a couple to be happy? Nothing good ever comes of comparing your relationship to someone else s. It is better to acknowledge that each bond is unique and has its strengths and weaknesses. One of the most important reasons not to compare relationships is that you re not seeing the full picture. Furthermore, in the last two lines of the poem: She has her arms around his neck and is crying into his shoulder, He whisks her up into his hut. We look around, but no one is watching us it confirms that the second couple has issues lying deep beneath their own. Once you begin comparing relationships, you ll probably start focusing on the ...
