Anti Terrorism Essay
Writing an essay on the topic of anti-terrorism is indeed a challenging task that requires careful
consideration of various aspects. Firstly, it demands a thorough understanding of the complex
and sensitive nature of terrorism, its causes, manifestations, and the global efforts to counteract
it. The researcher must delve into historical contexts, geopolitical factors, and socio-economic
roots to provide a comprehensive analysis.
Additionally, crafting an effective anti-terrorism essay necessitates staying updated on current
events and global developments related to terrorism. The ever-evolving nature of threats and the
dynamic strategies employed to address them require constant research and awareness. This can
make the writing process demanding, as the essay must reflect the latest insights and responses
to the ongoing challenges.
Moreover, balancing objectivity and sensitivity is crucial when discussing terrorism. The subject
often involves emotional and ethical considerations, making it essential to present arguments and
counterarguments with a fair and unbiased approach. Striking this balance while maintaining
clarity and coherence in the essay can be a daunting task.
Addressing the multifaceted nature of anti-terrorism efforts also means integrating perspectives
from various disciplines such as political science, international relations, sociology, and law.
Synthesizing information from diverse sources and presenting a well-structured argument
requires analytical skills and a comprehensive understanding of the subject matter.
In conclusion, writing an essay on anti-terrorism demands a combination of in-depth research,
awareness of current events, objectivity, sensitivity, and interdisciplinary knowledge. It is a

Stryver Vs Sydney Carton Essay
In Dickens A Tale of Two Cities, C.J. Stryver would not have been a successful
lawyer without the help of Sydney Carton. Mr. Stryver lacks attention to detail
while Sydney Carton is selfless and always helps others as opposed to helping
himself. Mr. Carton s acts of selflessness provide C.J. Stryver with the tools he
needs to win. C.J Stryver and Sydney Carton attended school together and as found

Sydney Carton continues to work hard and act in the best interest of the defendants.
Mr. Carton has resigned himself to the belief that he is meant to work behind the

although Sydney Carton would never be a lion, he was an amazingly good jackal,
and that he rendered suit and service to Stryver in that humble

Serena glanced up at the ceiling as her feet dangled below the freezing, cold water

beautiful blue dolphins circled around her. Serena jumps up one last time, falling

It s a wonderland, a paradise in fact. I love it here. Serena still facing the ceiling

then turns to the soccer field on her left. She admires the fields and begins to hear

The Process Of The Water Cycle
I. Introduction/Overview of Assessment Plan In this unit, students will explore the
process of the water cycle as connected to weather conditions. These processes they
will understand include evaporation, condensation, and participation. To ensure
students are learning, I will conduct pre assessments, formative assessments, and
summative assessments. These assessments are valid to the objectives and goals
because they can measure to the extent to which they are being achieved as
measurable student outcomes.
III. Pre Summative (post) Assessments
The pre assessment activities evaluate student learning by allowing the teacher and
students discover what they already know. In addition they recognize that prior
knowledge so they may engage in questioning, formulating, and thinking in order to
construct new knowledge appropriate to their level. Furthermore, the pre assessments
for this unit will be scored as a participation grade. This participation in pre
assessments will help guide planning by helping make instructional decisions about
student s strengths and weaknesses. On the other hand, the summative assessment
evaluates student learning by comparing student learning at the end of the unit by
comparing it to a standard. Therefore, the summative assessment is providing
information and feedback that sums up the teaching and learning process.
Consequently, the summative assessment will be scored as a major/test grade and no
further revisions will be allowed.
Theseus Greek Mythology

Hero of all gods
In Greek mythology there s many different myths , and they all have their own
stories to tell. The hero of one myth is Theseus. Theseus is known for being his hero
like self , and being brave and strong.
Theseus the hero of this myth. Every story ever told about Theseus he s known as a
hero who killed the fire breathing bull. He saved many lives and everyone loved him
because of what he did. He was known as a hero because he would kill many
different creatures and he would save people s lives. He was so strong and powerful
that it would be hard for him to ever lose a fight against any type of creature he s
ever faced.
Ever since Theseus was born his father knew he would be a strong and powerful
person , so his father said when he would get to the right age he would have to lift
up a big rock that under the rock is the father s sword and sandals. When Theseus
did get to the right age his father was right and he did left the rock but his father was
in the island Athens. Soon later Theseus went to the island of Athens but along the
way he went through many situations , he got in battles with creatures , saved many
towns and villages. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

planning on poisoning Theseus by putting poison in his glass of wine. Right when
he was going to take a sip Aegeus saw a sword image and Theseus then threw the
glass of wine to the ground and got right up to see his father. They were filled with
joy and happiness but Medea then
Ethnic Identity Analysis
This week in class, we discussed a myriad of topics that revolved around the
concept of identity. The three we discussed as a group were Holland s six
personality types, gender identity/sexual orientation, and ethnic identity. The first
group that spoke talked about Holland s six personality types which include
investigative, artistic, social, enterprising, conventional, and realistic. While
people don t fit into just one of these types, the types that define them most give a
good idea of their interests and what they might be good at career wise. When
listening to the descriptions of each type, I was able to identify where I would fall,
investigative and social. This makes sense because I want to be a counselor which
would involve social skills as well as investigative skills. I was also able to tell where
some of the people in our class would fall as well. I find great joy in understanding
others and Holland s personality types are a great way of gaining insight into that.
The third group talked about genderand sexual orientation. This is a topic with a lot
of controversy around it, as well as a lot of gray areas. While I knew a lot of the
terms used in regard to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This was the discussion that surprised me most. I came into it knowing the
importance of celebrating one s heritage, but I came out of it with a lot more.
When Dr. Maddy asked us to name television shows with African American or
Hispanic families, I was shocked at how little I could think of. I felt that I was
aware of how unrepresentative the media is, but I realized I hadn t thought deeply
about how this can affect individuals who are trying to form an ethnic identity. If the
only media role model you have is negative, what does this do to your self esteem?
This part of the discussion really made me think about the changes that need to be
made in regard to representation of different ethnicities, genders, and sexual
orientations in our

Anyone that enjoys football enjoys the excitement that comes with the game. A lot of
the excitement that comes with football is the touchdowns. After touchdowns, it has
become customary to celebrate. These celebrations have become more tame over the
years, thanks to Commissioner Roger Goodell and his anti fun ways. Long gone are
the days of using the pylon to play miniature golf or stashing a cell phone under the
goal post and making a phone call. The most extreme celebration one will see
nowadays is a little dance or giving the football to a kid in the crowd. Unfortunately,
the media and many other people are trying to make big deal about Cam Newton

The media does not like the idea of someone other than Tom Brady or Peyton
manning dominating the quarterback position, especially a black quarterback. It is
time for the media to move into 2015 like the rest of the world is.
In order for Cam Newton to get the respect he deserves, the media has to learn to
accept that Cam is here to stay and is an elite talent. How many teams are still
undefeated in the NFL this season? There is only one and it just so happens to be
Cam Newton s Panthers. With the season that Cam has had, he should be a near
lock for MVP, but the media still keeps bringing up other names like Tom Brady.
What people fail to realize is that Newton is putting up these numbers with very
few receivers. Ted Ginn is the number one receiver for the Panthers and he has
never been more than a number three option in his career. Newton does have a
great tight end in Greg Olson, but for the most part is single handedly carrying this
team with his legs and his arm. It is time for Newton to be put in the positive
spotlight. Super Cam is good for the NFL and good for the African American
community. He broke the mold and proved that an African American can be a great
quarterback in the NFL and have a ton of fun while doing it. Next time you see
number 1 flashing that contagious smile and celebrating a big touchdown, embrace it
because we are witnessing something

There is encouragement to congregants to get involved with Bible studies, small
groups, reading the Bible, praying, and more ( 2011 Summary Report ). This
concept is moving in tremendous ways due to the congregants having a choice to
take actions with their faith. It is also known that with having bigger Churches, there
is a higher demand for volunteers. And along with the need for volunteers, and the
more contemporary feel, there are more opportunities to serve. Serving is
encouraged but not required, giving the congregants freedom to chose (Got

from individually speaking to reaching brothers and sisters of Christ locally and

good news. Megachurches utilize their money and recourses to reach others from
across the ocean. Megachurches partner with many associations, fellowships, and
networks to gain knowledge and resources, but also to give (Exploring the
Megachurch). The networks share tools and provide support outside of their home
Church for the ultimate mission goal: to reach others for Christ. The outreach within
the communities from globally to locally are

The protection of CII has been an international concern. It was reported by the OECD
in May 2008 that many countries have national plans or strategies for protecting
critical infrastructure. These policies generally define critical infrastructure as
physical or intangible assets whose destruction or disruption would severely
undermine public safety, social order and the fulfillment of essential government
duties. Such harm would by and large be cataclysmic and extensive. Wellsprings of
significant framework hazard could be regular (e.g., tremors or surges) or human
made (e.g., psychological oppression, undermine).
This worry is reasonable given the way that we s step into an electronic environment
where most documents are being digitized and transactions computerized, such as
what is happening with revenue collection and many other applications. Given the
security challenges that face electronic environment such as this, we are left with one
nagging question, how secure are those systems? The answer to this question will
undoubtedly have a significant implication on

1.Provide the definitions of critical path and critical chain. How do they differ?
Critical path and critical chain are both schedule network analysis techniques.
Critical path is the one that determines the shortest time to complete a project, which
assumes low uncertainty and does not consider resource dependencies.
Critical chain is a modified or refined technique about critical path; it involves the
deterministic and probabilistic approaches to analyze the project schedule, which is
more realistic and practical than critical path.
Differences between critical path and critical chain:

This buffers help reduce the risk of non critical tasks. They are located at the end of
each non critical task.
3.Describe common practices to estimate the duration of project activities as well as
real reasons that cause project delays.
Common practices to estimate the duration of project activities:
пЃ¬Down to Top: When asked about the time it takes to complete a task or activity in
a whole project, each owner of the activity tends to add his safety time to the reported
number; therefore, the project manager collects all the numbers from each owner and
then adds his safety time to the overall duration of the project, say, the total time to
complete the project. The finalized total time is more exaggerated.
пЃ¬Top to Down: When given the total time by project manager, higher level
managers tend to squeeze the time to reduce the time and cost. Therefore, lower level
manager has to give up the initial schedule to satisfy higher level managers. The
finalized time depends on the complexity of the organization: the more layers, the
less time to complete a project.
Real reasons that causes project delays:
пЃ¬Resource constraint: If a resource is shared by many projects or activities, it
would be used in order of priority, thus leading to delay of activity or project with
lower priority.
пЃ¬Dependency: If two activities are serial relationship, which means one relies on

The Life Of George Price
The life of George Price is one example of total selflessness. Throughout his life,
George Price was a fluctuating and ever changing scientist. Accepted to Harvard and
the University of Chicago, he eventually obtained a doctorate degree in chemistry.
Price worked on the Manhattan project, a program during World War I focusing on
building an atomic bomb. He later went on to work in various fields such as
computer science, psychology, politics, and eventually moved to London where he
discovered his love for evolutionary studies. He examined himself in the concept of
altruismand kin selection. He eventually created an equation for this concept of
selfishness versus altruism. Called the covariance or Price equation, this formula

Price finally underwent a conversion to Christianity and submerged himself in a life
of pure altruism. Giving money, clothes, or food to homeless people and those in
need, Price became the epitome test subject to disprove his own theory. Over time,
Price became depressed, quiet, and very isolated within his own mind. This state of
being led him to suicide over the Christmas of 1974 (Bankston).
The total amount of suffering per year in the natural world is beyond all decent
contemplation. During the minute that it takes me to compose this sentence,
thousands of animals are being eaten alive, many others are running for their lives,
whimpering with fear, others are slowly being devoured from within by rasping
parasites, thousands of all kinds are dying of starvation, thirst, and disease. It must
be so. If there ever is a time of plenty, this very fact will automatically lead to an
increase in the population until the natural state of starvation and misery is
restored (Dawkins 85). George Price is one of many cases of people converting in
to the beliefs of altruism and complete selflessness. But in the end, even people as
extraordinary as George Price must accept the fact that without some form of
consideration for one s self, the burdens of life will be a heavy component in
dragging down the human mind. The natural order of life has to have some amount
of suffering in order to function.

Symbolism In Lord Of The Flies Analysis
For centuries philosophers have debated the question of whether man is innately
evil. William Golding poses this question in his realistic novel Lord of the Flies. Set
on a tropical island during World War II, the novel begins when schoolboys from
Great
Britain are being flown to safety and their plane is shot down. No adults survive, and
the boys are left to govern themselves and get rescued. William Golding uses
symbolism in the form of the conch to represents the concept of society. The boys
evolving relationship with the conch illustrates Golding s theme that humans, when
removed form the pressures of civilized authority, will become evil.
In the beginning, the boys view the conch as an important symbol that unites them
and gives them the power to deal with their difficult situation. When the conch is
first found and blown, it brings everyone together: Ralph found his breath and
blew a series of short blasts. Piggy exclaimed, There s one! (Golding 16). Here
Piggy observes one boy emerging from the jungle but soon boys conform all
around. Each comes for his own reason: some for plain curiosity, other for the
prospect of rescue. They all form the first assembly thanks to the conch. The first
job of this assembly is to unite even further and choose a leader or chief. Once again
the conch plays an important part. It is Ralph who is chosen to be chief, and the
main reason for this is because he holds the conch.
When it is put to a vote, the boys exclaim, Him with the
Unemployment And The Rate Of Inflation
Unemployment and the rate of Inflation are two main problems faced by most
economies around the world. Lower rates of each are sought after in order to create
and maintain a more stable economy. Unemployment rate can be officially defined as
a measure of the prevalence of unemployment and it is calculated as a percentage by
dividing the number of unemployed individuals by all individuals currently in the
labour force. The inflationrate is the percentage rate of change of a price index over
time. The Retail Prices Index is also a measure of inflation that is commonly used in
the United Kingdom. It is broader than the CPI and contains a larger basket of goods
and services.
By obtaining data for two countries, UK and France, on unemployment rate and CPI,
which allowed me to calculate inflation rate and then further the change in inflation
rate, I have been able to construct the table above. This table clearly shows the
comparison between the two countries between the time period of 1970 2013. From
this table I am able to create graphs to represent the data in an aesthetically pleasing
format a picture says a thousand words. Firstly I will begin by discussing the
unemployment rate graph.
This line graph represents the comparison of the changes of unemployment rate data
from 1970 2013 for the countries France and United Kingdom. At 1970 France s
unemployment rate remains consistent for 4 years while the UK s rises slightly

China s Constitution Case

rule of law?
The United Kingdom s constitution was written in 1215 and was last revised in 2013.
This shows that the rule of law has remain relatively consistent besides being updated
to keep up with the times. China s constitution was adopted in 1982 and revised in
2004, which shows that China s current rule of law is a little bit more modernized.
2.Are the three branches (executive, legislative, and judicial) mentioned in the

What types of rights are protected by the different constitutions? (political, economic,
or/and social)
In the United Kingdom s constitution, the people are given rights such as the right to
life, thought, religion, and expression. The citizens of the People s Republic of
China are allowed freedom of speech, press, assembly, association, precession,
demonstration and religious belief.
4.Out of the two constitutions you looked at, which provided the greatest amount of
protection?
The United Kingdom s constitution provided more protection because in China, the
central governing party is the Communist Party and although power is given to the
National People s Congress to make decisions, most of those members belong to the
founding Communist Party.
5.What do you think is missing from the two documents?
The People s Republic of China s constitution does declare it a socialist state and
gives power to the National People s Congress, but is missing the fact that all power
is given to the Communist Party. The constitution of the United Kingdom is missing
a single document to represent the constitution because it is made up of so many
different documents.

The Current Generational Issues Of The Workplace
France Nookiah MAN 3240 Research paper Millennials in the workplace Current
generational issues in the workplace Millennials have already surpassed the
number of baby boomers and have become the majority of the workforce in the
U.S, and that number will keep on continuing to increase. But instead of expecting
a stronger workforce where the old and new generation would work together to
overcome the difficulties, businesses have been struggling in the hiring of
millennials. The work environment has changed radically over the years and that
has led to several differences between the generations. More than 53% of hiring
managers are experiencing difficulties in employing and retaining millennials , and
that percentage keeps on increasing as employment turnover keeps growing. The
main reason why millennials have such a high turnover rate is because of
generational differences. Almost all hiring managers are baby boomers, of age 33
and up . Millennials have a new unique set of values, expectations, working style and
skills that very often clashes with the older generations. As such, they often clash
with the old school way of most companies. They want and need methods that
traditional employers don t usually provide. Despite these issues, it is very important
that both generations come together and find a solution. This is very critical for the
future of the workforce of the U.S, as more and more baby boomers are retiring, thus
increasing vacancy spots that are not being

Cultural Norms In Today s Culture
Cultural Norms
Definition: The general expectations for how we ought to behave.
Question: Is it a norm (common) to be an alcoholic within today s culture? What
cultural norms might discourage alcoholism?
1.Alcohol consumption is a cultural norm, but alcoholism is not. Problem drinking
can affect men and women of all ages and backgrounds, however, it is more common
among men than women and is most common among ages 18 to 25. (Aronson, M. D.)
2.The gateway to alcoholism can begin anywhere, but for most, it starts in college.
As high as 40% of college students could now be considered alcoholics as defined by

Direct marketing is considered a channel form of advertising which enables
businesses to communicate straight to the customer. This strategy eliminates the
middle man throughout the distribution channel. The direct marketing messages are
designed to accentuate focus on the customer, data and accountability. Mary Kay
business model is built completely around this strategy. The company s approach to
direct selling employs the party plan, whereby independent sales representatives

Looking into the Indian market, Mary Kay can foresee potential into expansion.
Mary Kay has the ability to introduce their products to a large population and

an emotionally charged, and intimate exploration of the controversial Death with

the Grand Jury Prize in the U. S. Documentary Competition at the 2011 Sundance
Film Festival, along with other countless accolades, and is currently available as an

Richardson produced, directed and captured all the footage himself. The end result is
a multitude of powerful one on one interviews, archival footage of patients, and
candid long takes. Richardson cuts himself out of the interviews, and edits together
strikingly frank sound bytes to showcase his subjects talking about death and the
affect of the law. His use of archival footage primarily captures his patients when
they were healthy, and provides a striking contrast as they seriously discuss death
towards the end of their lives. His use of candid long takes captures some of the
most poignant moments of the film, including the final minutes of one man s life
after taking the lethal drugs. The camera is a spectator in the room, as the man
accompanied by his family; all face his personal decision to die together. All of these
different footage types work together to provide emotional weight to an already
troubling subject.
2)Richardson s non interventionist style is a prime example of observational
documentary, and works specifically well in capturing and promulgating the subject
of death. According to Nichols, observational documentaries started appearing in the
1960 s as result of more mobile and smaller equipment. Furthermore, observational
documentary stresses non intervention, as filmmakers objectively observe indirect
speech, candidness in the form of long takes, and create a world out of historical
reality not fabricated with
Symbolism InBattle Royal, By Ralph Ellison
In Battle Royal by Ralph Ellison, the narrator who remains nameless, is looking
back on his teenage years while telling a story from his past. In the story, the
narrator is invited to a party to deliver a speech, however when he arrives he is
forced to partake in the Battle Royal. Battle Royal is a chapter from Ellison s book
Invisible Man, which is about an African Americanteenager who grows up in a
society where he finds himself invisible, as did Ellison himself. In Ralph Ellison s
Battle Royal, the American flag tattoo, the blindfold, and the grandfather s deathbed
symbolize the overall message that the African Americans were dominated by the
whites.
The narrator of the story is invited to a party, where he is supposed to present his
speech in front of all the people who attend. At the party, the white men invite a
stripper to intimidate and scare the African American teenagers. The teenagers are
forced to stare at the white, blonde, naked woman that stands in front of them, with
no way out and not knowing how to react. While recalling the story from his past,
the narrator notices that the stripper has a tattoo of the American flag. The
American flag is particularly symbolic to this story, since it is placed on a white
woman. While being forced to stare at the naked woman at the party, the narrator
says, I wanted at one and the same time to run from the room, to sink through the
floor, or go to her and cover her from my eyes and the eyes of the others with my
body (Ellison). Even if they do have feelings for her, they are forbidden to act upon
them, since it was illegal to have mixed race relationships during the 20th century.
According to SAGE Publications, the emergence of racial genomics, I argue, is a
response to these specific threats to the racial hierarchy and to white dominance
(Fitzgerald). The white men bring the stripper to the party, mainly to torture the
teenagers and make them feel uncomfortable. The white men dominate over the
African Americans, and therefore feel that it is right to control their every action.
Unlike today, where interracial relationships and marriages are accepted, in the 20th
century it was even forbidden to look at a woman of the other race.

influential American themed dances were Appalachian Spring, American

this show than in any other. The narrator spoke alternate lines from the sermons of
the Bible. The narrator also spoke about American History including passages from
The Declaration of

Appalachian Spring was one of her most famous shows. The American Theme is
portrayed in this dance, through the marriage of an American couple, beginning
their lives together on the American Frontier. The dance was popular when it was
introduced to the public and is still known as one of her best pieces today. The
Frontier was the first of the American Theme. It was a solo performance
choreographed and danced by Graham. The Frontier was the first time she used Isamu
Noguchi to sculpt her set. It was the first time a sculptor was used in modern dance.
The set he designed captured the vastness of the American Frontier. Graham was not

How Did Leonardo s Art Work
Leonardo s Artwork
I have always been fascinated by the older artists and the pieces of work they did in
their lifetimes. One in particular that always fascinated me was the work of
Leonardo Da Vinci. While Da Vinci was a sort of jack of all trades, what he s most

Every age in art had different styles dealing with light and shadow and perspective.
Leonardo was a part of the Renaissance era, when the arts were being reborn.
Leonardo was very meticulous with his artwork. He didn t just pick up the brush and

studied different parts of the body such as hands and feet and how the face

Effective Workplace Communication
Listening and Effective Workplace Communication
James Humes, a former presidential speech writer, stated that, the art of
communication is the language of leadership (Leading Thoughts, 2010).
Communication is an essential process that is common in the workplace. Everyone in
the workplace especially leaders must communicate with others. Ideas, conversations,
disagreements, and commitments can all be exchanged through communication.
Anyone can communicate but it takes discipline and skills to effectively
communicate. These skills can include feedback, presentation, non verbal
communication, and listening. Listening is the most valuable skills to effective

If a guest calls down to the front desk and complains about their room the front
desk clerk needs to actively listen to know how to respond. A response may include
sending up an item that was requested by the guest or escalating the problem to

employees and managers respond in an appropriate manner. A response to listening
does not always have to verbal. A non verbal response like smiling or nodding can
be an appropriate response. It does not matter if the response is verbal or non verbal,
listening will help to ensure that the response is effective.
People tend to assume that the most important part of the pyramid is the top but they
are incorrect. The bottom of the pyramid is the most important part of the pyramid.
The bottom of the pyramid is the foundation on which the other blocks stand. If there
was a pyramid to represent communication skills, listening would be the foundation
or the base for communication. Communication skills build on each other and the
skill that is used for the moment in time is the tip of the pyramid. Truly effective
communication involves more than just expressing yourself clearly. It also requires
effective listening (Brown, 2009). Listening helps to strengthen the other
communication skills like feedback and presentation. It is hard to present to an

of his crime fighting abilities, as well as his established motto, which is based off of
his late uncle: with great power comes great responsibility. Followers of this new
religion, henceforth called Webheads, also support other superheroes in the Marvel
comic universe, but not to the extent they support Spiderman.

The second part of Ortner s definition of a key symbol is it causing a positive or
negative reaction from the natives. Simply mentioning the Grand Spider symbol
causes a frenzy within the Congregation. Just showing the symbol to them causes
their faces to light up and them to immediately begin discussing their love for
Spiderman. This is in part because the symbol is all over their buildings, which they
go to to attend sermons that brings them happiness. This means they are making a
mental connection between happiness and the symbol. However, the symbol can
also elicit a negative response in particular contexts. Should Webheads see someone
wearing the symbol out in public, they will begin attempting to discuss the
Congregation with this person. If the person is not a member of the Congregation, a
fight will ensue, as Webheads feel no one but Congregation members should be
allowed to wear the symbol. As Spiderman is a popular Marvel superhero, plenty of
individuals that are not a part of the Congregation wear the symbol. Plenty of
people also display the symbol, typically in poster form in their homes and offices.
This also elicits a negative reaction from Webheads because they feel only
Congregation buildings have the authority to display the symbol in such a fashion.

Victoria s Perfect Body Ideal
Body ideals have been a recurring yet varying phenomenon for centuries, with
different eras and societies deeming different shapes and bodies to be ideal and
beautiful. This has ultimately resulted in a contemporary society where girls believe
they are flawed for not living up to a predetermined body standard and grow up
constantly wanting to look like that girl on the front page of magazine covers.
Throughout history, body shapes have ranged from curvy to thin, but it wasn t until
the 1990 s when the perfect body reached an all time thin. Supermodel, Kate Moss,
revolutionized the modeling industry, effectively replacing the athletic body type of
the previous decade with the heroin chic body shapetrend (Hart, 2015). Calvin Klein

Like the thigh gap phenomena, the latter is largely based on how your body is
structured the only way you can achieve this gap is by having wide hips and
outward angling bones (Stork, 2013). Although the new trend is, in my opinion, a
little healthier as it promotes exercise as a way to achieve the perfect looking booty,
young women are still using waist trainers in hopes that they will mould their waists
into a slimmer figure. As for the women who want to achieve this body but, have
naturally small breasts and butts, they often, resort to plastic surgery to achieve the
society s perception of beauty. According to Long Island plastic surgeon Stephen J.
Greenberg,
Women are looking for larger, but more natural looking breasts as well as enhanced
buttocks, rounder hips and slimmer waists as well as thighs. (Tunell, 2015)
Not only is this new craze a bit extreme, it is also dangerous. How? Well, when you
have a full box and you continually apply force to it (in hopes of making the box
smaller), the force will eventually become too much for the box to handle and it will
collapse. With this image in mind, that is almost exactly what the waist trainer does

Occupational Health And Safety Management System
Introduction
Despite undeniable efforts investing in safety and health within the workplace,
occupational accidents continue to account for injuries and deaths every year
(Cadieux et al, 2006). In Quebec alone in the year of 2004, 176 deaths and 128,104
occupational injuries were registered by the National OHS board (Cadieux et al,
2006). In order to improve these rates worldwide, Occupational Health and Safety
Management systems are developed and implemented in the workplace.
An Occupational Health and Safety Management System (OHSMS) is a planned,
documented and verifiable method of managing workplace hazards and their
associated risks (Pillay, 2016). An OHSMS provides a structure that allows an
organisation to identify and control health and safety risks within the organisation.
The implementation of such structures promotes a safe and healthy working
environment which, in turn, will reduce the potential for accidents in the workplace
whilst aiding legislative compliance and improving the overall performance of the
organisation. Comparing and contrasting OHSMSs through the analysis of available
literature allows one to determine the most appropriate management system for their
organisation.
The objective of this analysis is to;
Summarise the literature on Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems
OHSAS 18001 and AZ/NZS 4801.
Compare and critically analyse the two Occupational Health and Safety Management

word chaired suggests a sense of weakness, inability and insignificance. These ideas
are crucially embedded through Sophy in The son s veto and the narrator in Sandpiper
. The authors do this to emphasise the tragic lives of the characters and how they are
victims of the societies that mould their perception.
To begin with, readers feel sympathy towards Sophy in The Son s Veto as she is
constantly mocked by Randolph, who views her with great contempt, I am ashamed
of you! It will ruin me! A miserable boor! A churl! A clown! Randolf hasn t even
met Sam yet and already becomes judgmental and compares him to a boor and a
churl simply because of his lower social status. This authenticates that Randolph has
no concerns for his mother s feelings and is just being exceedingly egoistic and all
he cares about is his status. Hardy might be trying to depict that narcissism is a trait
that comes along with high status. This is quite ironic because his father had no
problem with marrying a woman with lower status. However, the frustration kicks in
when Sophy says, Say no more perhaps I am wrong! I will struggle against it , as she
denies the one thing she loves the most, just for her son who almost resents her. This
frustrates the
Minor Importance
Communication would be a great major but I am passionate about nursing. If
anything I would make it my minor. Of course the major is more important than
the minor, but the minor always benefits you somehow. Some might say minors do
not matter, but they do. Minors could help to shape one s future path a career will
take or even open a few potential outcomes for professions one may seek after.
Once in a while, having the right minor can serve as a kind of sudden death round
in the middle of you and a generally just as qualified competitor for the same
occupation. To have communication as my minor, 5 courses are required. Those 5
courses are a total of 18 hours. The 3 most promising courses out of those 5 that
would be the most beneficial
The Enlightenment
World Literature
The Enlightenment s Impact on the Modern World The Enlightenment, Age of
Reason, began in the late 17th and 18th century. This was a period in Europe and
America when mankind was emerging from centuries of ignorance into a new age
enlightened by reason, science, and respect for humanity. This period promoted
scientific thought, skeptics, and intellectual interchange: dismissing superstition,
intolerance, and for some, religion. Western Europe, Germany, France, and Great
Britain, and the American Colonies generally influenced the age of reason. Following
the Renaissance, science and rationality was the forefront of this age. The
enlightenment came as a wave throughout Europe, drastically changing the culture.

An unobstructed supply of grain in France would be a means of increasing total
output. In 1776 Adam Smith published The Wealth of Nations, which forwards
similar ideas. Smith was somewhat different from the physiocrats, though, because
he believed that labor and the market were the prime creators of wealth. Smith
argues The greatest improvement in the productive powers of labour, and the
greater part of the skill, dexterity, and judgment with which it is anywhere directed,
or applied, seem to have been the effects of the division of labour. (Smith) He
believes labor for one owns success is the best way to work, not wealth based on
social standings. In making these arguments, both the physiocrats and Adam Smith
struck at the hold that the aristocracy was trying to maintain on the economy. Locke
agrees, All wealth is the product of labor The laissez faire economists believed that
wealth should not be confined to one class. As articulated in France, therefore, the
argument for laissez faire economics was an argument that the ancient regime should
be abolished and replaced with a more equal basis for society. Most literature was
nonfiction, which means it was based on fact rather than being made up by the author
s imagination. Its aims were to instruct, to enlighten, and to make people think.

Conformity In 1960s America
In the words of President Lyndon B. Johnson, Yesterday is not ours to recover, but
tomorrow is ours to win or lose. The connotation of this statement implies the strong
sentiment of the 60s that defines the transition from a traditionalist society to one of
free expression. Conformity shaped the American society of the 50s and continued to
influence the early years of the 1960s. The 50s created a sense of false stability and
unity in the United Statespost WWII. Economically, the country was prosperous due
to the levels of wartime production, and the population was at no shortage of citizens
thanks to the baby boom. However, the evident threat of communism during the Cold
Warat home during the Red Scare and the growing numbers of Americans... Show

These movements were popular influences for artists and sculptors alike and
helped to spread positive sentiment towards the affected minorities of the 60s
society. Judy Chicago was one of the main female pioneers for women in the arts
for her sculptures that promoted a sense of attention and recognition for women of
the feminist movement. Her pieces of art celebrated the experiences and
accomplishments of women through time and focused on the uniqueness and
differences that a woman had in comparison to man. Chicago also used materials
that would have been considered women s homestay activities, including
needlework and ceramic decoration, in order to show that a woman s art is
comparable to a man s and is capable of having its own story and content. Domes is
a selected piece of art that consists of three domed figures laid out in a triangular
formation that represents a symbol of feminism in its softer appearance and layout.
Transitively, the feminist art movement was also related to the art that was created
by African Americans during the 60s. Both groups were advocating for improved
rights, and both took the opportunity to utilize art to expand upon the ideas and
accomplishments of the movements they were a part of. Sculptor Elizabeth Catlett
and photographer Moneta Sleet Jr. were both influenced by the civil rights
movements, Sleet being closely associated with Martin Luther King Jr. and his
peace marches. Catlett had a hand in both the feminist and African American art
realms. Her wooden or clay sculptures represented the strength and power of both
African and Mexican women who ranged from laborers to mothers, and through this
art she established her position as an advocate for women of all races and the
African American race. Sleet was directly affiliated with Martin Luther King Jr. from
the day he was sent to record the boycott in
With legs crossed at the heels and arms folded, a man...
With legs crossed at the heels and arms folded, a man leaned his lower back against
the dark marble counter of a small apartment kitchen. His hair was short, blonde,
and styled with hair gel. His face was rounded and subtly angular with a jaw
accentuated by a rough stubbly ginger brown beard. The beard was quite thick and
dense, and appeared as if some days before there had been an attempt to neatly trim
it. His eyes were bright green, almond shaped and innocent but were made slightly
sinister by a thick arched brow and a widows peak hairline. Above him was a
selection of dark cupboards like you might expect to find in such a kitchen, except
the doors all hung open and another man was rifling through them. The guy was

going to be dead in the jam mate. So you expect that fucking jar to fill up to the
brim with drowning flies? And even if that were realistic and did happen, what
happens when it s full? Huck was very irritated by this point. He was standing in
the door way to the balcony, gesturing wildly at the jar in Ted s hand; a fly was
already circuling it. Put another one next to it. Ted explained. Another jar of jam?
Two jars attracting flies to a balcony that used to attract less than ten at one time? If
you put two jars of jam on this balcony people are going to think there s a dead
body up here. Ted popped the lid off of the jar. What you can just forecast the
future can you? Asked Ted sarcastically. You hear out someone s plan and just
know what s going to happen? It s obvious! Sure Huck, why don t you use your
magic powers to summon a dragon and we ll just smoke them out. Problem solved.
Huck lunged through the door swiping at the jar. We re going to have flies
crawling all over us! He shouted. Huck s flailing arms slapped the jar from Ted s
hand and it smashed loudly on the floor; jam
An Outsider In Ball State University s Parade
What s it like to be an outsider in society? Ball State University s production of
Parade presents Leo Frank, the protagonist and the one depicted as a foreigner. No
matter what stage of life a person is in, being cast as an outsider is a common
feeling, whether it s going to a new school, meeting new people, or simply moving
873 miles (Brooklyn, NY to Atlanta, GA) away from home. However, others
believe that being on the outside is a blessing in disguise providing the user with
vigilance and a better understanding on those around them. Regardless of that matter,
everyone knows what it s like to be the newcomer to any particular group or setting.
Ball State s management of Parade captures the portrayal of what it s like to feel
alienated in a town you cannot call home. Parade s persistent theme that a person
shouldn t be judged due to their character/background is best corresponded through
the lighting design during Let At Work/ What Am I Waiting For? , Leo s acting of
rubbing his hands together, and the costume designof Leo compared to all the
townspeople. When Leo and Lucille begin to sing... Show more content on

Billie Jean King
Billie Jean King: Portrait of a Pioneer
Billie Jean King: Portrait of a Pioneer shows the dedication and drive that women
had to have in order to be successful at sports in the twentieth contrary. Billie Jean
King who came from a very athletic family first got her inspiration to succeed at
sports from the athletic sermons she herd in church every Sunday as a young child.
One of her friends was starting to play tenses and she wanted to start also. After
working around the neighborhood to earn the money for her first racket, Billie Jean
King overcame many obstacles along with great personal struggles to become the
best professional tennis player of her time.
One of the biggest things that she pushed for in her career was equal pay for men
and women in sports. This was a struggle for her as she had trouble paying for her
tennis. In the early days of her playing she was not allowed in the picture of her
first tennis club because she was not wearing the proper tennis skirt, but instead
had on shorts. Her family did not have a lot of extra money to put into her
expensive tennis career and it was hard for them to afford the elitists sport. She
along with other women had to stand up and risk being band from the tennis league
when they signed one dollar contracts with the Virginia Slims to bring attention to the
struggle for equal play. It became apparent to Billy even from the young age that she
was when she was not allowed in the picture because of her attire that women where

Analyzing Chamberlain s Seven Army Values
oshua L. Chamberlain was a greatly decorated and respected Union officer. During
the battle of Gettysburg, Chamberlain had acquired the rank of Brigadier General
and had led the 20th Maine Regiment to counterattack the Confederates. Joshua not
only had the daring ability to attack the Confederates but he had also had the ability
to persuade men that he d been given to continue fighting. Throughout the battle of
Gettysburg Chamberlain had displayed some, if not all, of the seven army values.
One of the most prominent values Joshua had displayed was respect. Early in the
morning, he had been approached by his right hand man Buster Kilrain, who had
informed Joshua that he was about to receive 120 veterans from the Second Maine.
However, these veterans had been accidentally signed up for three years in the
service instead of two like... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He had told the 150 men that he would not shoot them if they disobeyed him or
refused to fight. The reason for this is because most of the people that were in that
group were actually from Maine similar to Chamberlain. He knew that in a way it
would be against what loyalty means if he killed them. He didn t want to shoot
people that came from the same place as him and who decided to fight just like
him. He stays loyal to his country, his state, his brother and to his men that he had
been commanding. I would also say that he carried out his duty to his country.
Throughout his years of service he acquired the rank of Lieutenant Colonel of the
20th Maine Volunteer Infantry Regiment. He also displayed selfless service,
integrity and personal courage. These values are all relatively similar in that they all
have something to do with the way that one would carry themselves and their beliefs.
Judging from the way he treated the men he was in charge of showed us that he
would ve done anything in his power to defend them and fight right next to
Wild Turkey Surprise Bugs Bunny And Taz
After watching the 45 second cartoon clip Wild Turkey Surprise Bugs Bunny and
Taz I noticed that there were 3 violent instances in the cartoon. The first was when
Bugs Bunny was tied up on the table being prepared for dinner. The second when
bugs bunny lit the explosives and placed it in Taz s mouth, and the last instance was
when Taz swallowed the explosives and it exploded in his stomach.
I don t believe that violence is necessary in television for any other reason that to add
a shock value and increase viewer ratings. When violence was first introduced to
television it was to illustrate real life as well as add a shock value and was done in
small doses. Violence in cartoons were once viewed as funny because the violent
behaviors shown were so farfetched from reality that it just seemed amusing. As we
become desensitized to the violence it becomes the norm and must be topped with
something even more violent. Eventually violent acts become less shocking the more
that it is witnessed at which point more ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Initially the effects will be subtle because children do not have full control over
their actions as it is understood that there are rules and obligations that they must
abide by (If raised by responsible parents). Rules and regulations are enforced in the
home as well as in school and because children viewed violence coupled with, vulgar
statements, disrespect for authority, sexually explicit language and behavior, etc. as
they become adolescents the once small and impressionable children who were
exposed to this material feel they have been suppressing their feelings and actions for
long enough. Responding to the stimuli in later years can range from being a bully
themselves, acting promiscuously, causing physical harm, and as show all over the
country, the worst case scenario resulting in a school massacre, mall shooting, or
even movie theater
Semiotics in Art History
The Oxford English Dictionary defines semiotics as [the] science of communication
studied through interpretation of signs and symbols as they operate in various fields,
especially language. Semiology is characterized as the science of signs which studies
the life of signs within society. Signs include, among others, sounds, images, words,
odors, objects; they are concepts that stand for something else in a system of
signification. They allow us to communicate a concept or an idea while it is
physically absent. In art history, the simplest description of semiology consists of the
translation of an image into words. Two prominent founders of the contemporary sign
theories are Peirce and Saussure. Although they focus on the same... Show more

This idea is intrinsically related to the concepts of the sender and the viewer,
which will be discussed in the next sections of this paper. The second issue
discussed by the art historians is the sender of a work. In this section, Bal and
Bryson define and differentiate the composition of the artist of a work. First, there is
the concept of the sender as an individual, or J. Bloggs, as they call him. J. Bloggs
stands for the name of the individual, a designation, not a description;[...] it does not
assign any particular characteristics to its bearer (p.181). The second aspect of the
sender is the author, which is in the works, in a body of artifacts and in the complex
operations performed on them (p.181). It is the notions of enframement that
distinguishes J.Bloggs from the author, which is what Bal and Bryson identify as an
elaborate work of framing, something we can elaborately produce rather than
something we simply find (p. 181). The art historian, Culler, explains that authorship
is given, not produced, as he states that what counts as authorship is determined by
interpretative strategies (p.181). Thus, in simpler terms, the author or artist could be
produced in the sense that his attributed works and other interpretable material, and
ultimately produce a conception. Attributions are said to be evidenced through
material traces of the author in the work,
An Authoritative And Popular Sources Essay
Report on Authoritative and Popular Sources
Are you seeking informational resources within the business community? If so, look
no further than the sources given in this report! I have selected three current
authoritative sources and one current popular source to share with you. Though there
are numerous authoritative sources in the business community, the three I selected
are Bloomberg Business, Harvard Business Review, and Forbes. For my current
popular source, I selected Investopedia. While analyzing both authoritative and
popular sources I will explain what makes them authoritative or popular, describe
their unique characteristics, and identify their intended purpose and audiences.
Bloomberg Business Week can be accessed online or through a weekly magazine
subscription. This source is authoritative in my discipline because the source is
maintained by a large dynamic editorial team consisting of twenty five individuals
all from unique backgrounds and locations that each bring differing experiences (
Editorial Team ). Some examples of this include Marc Champion, editor for internal
business affairs for The Wall Street Journal and Francis Barry, who was the director
of public affairs for New York City and a chief speech writer for New York City
Mayor Michael Bloomberg ( Editorial Team ). This source is also accepted
throughout the global business community as well as East Carolina University s
School of Business.
One characteristic of this source includes the use of a
Interview with William Golding Essay
Interview with William Golding BBC Studio.
Present: Leanne Le Poidevin and William Golding
Leanne Le Poidevin is interviewing William Golding about his book,
Lord Of The Flies.
Leanne: Good afternoon Mr. Golding.
Mr Golding:Good afternoon to you.
Leanne:As we all know, Lord of the flies is about lots of boys trapped on an island.
What was the reason of putting just boys on the island?
Why were there no girls?
Mr Golding:At the time of the book, it was the war. Fighting and arguing was going
on around us, and it seemed as though nobody was really sane anymore. It started off
as being happy and positive, and ended up being complete madness. Women were at
home, doing the housework, cooking food, you know? They didn t ... Show more

One of them is the blood or killing theme.
Why did you feel it was necessary to include this?
Mr Golding:At the age that the boys are, they are boisterous, very loud and they are
basically trying to impress each other. Jack is known as the leader of the hunters,
but it is obvious that he really doesn t have a clue about hunting. I purposely made
him a choirboy because they are known to be girl like quiet pretty boys. When Jack
tells the boys he will be the leader of the hunters, there is a sense of shock. I wanted
it to be a surprise for the reader that such an innocent boy could be so sinister. He is
so eager to gain some kind of authority over the group that he is willing to destroy his
innocence and murder a creature.
Leanne:You mentioned innocence there. What do you mean by that?
Mr Golding:Well, a fifteen year old boy has a lot of innocence about him. By killing
something, the young child is almost breaking the rules of what it has been brought
up to believe in. When they witness blood that they have caused, their childhood is
automatically broken.
Leanne: I see. There is a lot of chaos running through the book. Why did you add this
effect?
Mr Golding: Young boys always want to be in charge. I imagined myself and a
group of my friends, when we were younger of course, stranded on an island. We
would have been fighting, and not listening to what anybody had to say. It would
have been every hard to

Mr. Stryver lacks attention to detail while Sydney Carton is selfless and always helps others as opposed to helping himself. Mr. Carton s acts of selflessness provide C.J. C.J Stryver and Sydney Carton attended school together and as found in the text Mr. Stryver feels that he has proven to be more bold and confident than Mr. Carton. your way is, and always was, a lame way. Despite this attitude from C.J. Stryver, Sydney Carton continues to work hard and act in the best interest of the defendants. Mr. Carton has resigned himself to the belief that he is meant to work behind the scenes and continues to work to the best of his ability. She spun in circles, jumping up from the water while the bright, beautiful blue dolphins circled around her. Serena jumps up one last time, falling on her back as she hits the water. I can not believe I am here, she thinks to herself. It s a wonderland, a paradise in fact. I love it here. Serena still facing the ceiling begins to slowly stray away from her previous spot in the water as the dolphins follow along side her. Her head turns towards the football field on her right and then turns to the soccer field on her left. She admires the fields and begins to hear band music over powering the loud noises coming from the active games going on. Serena s eyes start to close as she drifts into the deep end of the pool. She continues to take in the band music as it the pace starts to slow. The dolphins form around her to keep in away from the sidelines. Serena now in a trance falls into her dream. These processes they will understand include evaporation, condensation, and participation. To ensure students are learning, I will conduct pre assessments, formative assessments, and summative assessments. These assessments are valid to the objectives and goals because they can measure to the extent to which they are being achieved as measurable student outcomes. III. Pre Summative (post) Assessments The pre assessment activities evaluate student learning by allowing the teacher and students discover what they already know. In addition they recognize that prior knowledge so they may engage in questioning, formulating, and thinking in order to construct new knowledge appropriate to their level. Furthermore, the pre assessments for this unit will be scored as a participation grade. This participation in pre assessments will help guide planning by helping make instructional decisions about student s strengths and weaknesses. On the other hand, the summative assessment evaluates student learning by comparing student learning at the end of the unit by comparing it to a standard. Therefore, the summative assessment is providing information and feedback that sums up the teaching and learning process. Consequently, the summative assessment will be scored as a major/test grade and no further revisions will be allowed.

The three we discussed as a group were Holland s six personality types, gender identity/sexual orientation, and ethnic identity. The first group that spoke talked about Holland s six personality types which include investigative, artistic, social, enterprising, conventional, and realistic. While people don t fit into just one of these types, the types that define them most give a good idea of their interests and what they might be good at career wise. When listening to the descriptions of each type, I was able to identify where I would fall, investigative and social. This makes sense because I want to be a counselor which would involve social skills as well as investigative skills. I was also able to tell where some of the people in our class would fall as well. I find great joy in understanding others and Holland s personality types are a great way of gaining insight into that. The third group talked about genderand sexual orientation. It is time for the media to move into 2015 like the rest of the world is. There is only one and it just so happens to be Cam Newton s Panthers. With the season that Cam has had, he should be a near lock for MVP, but the media still keeps bringing up other names like Tom Brady. What people fail to realize is that Newton is putting up these numbers with very few receivers. Ted Ginn is the number one receiver for the Panthers and he has never been more than a number three option in his career. Newton does have a great tight end in Greg Olson, but for the most part is single handedly carrying this team with his legs and his arm. It is time for Newton to be put in the positive spotlight. Super Cam is good for the NFL and good for the African American community. He broke the mold and proved that an African American can be a great quarterback in the NFL and have a ton of fun while doing it. Common practices to estimate the duration of project activities: пЃ¬Down to Top: When asked about the time it takes to complete a task or activity in a whole project, each owner of the activity tends to add his safety time to the reported number; therefore, the project manager collects all the numbers from each owner and then adds his safety time to the overall duration of the project, say, the total time to complete the project. The finalized total time is more exaggerated. пЃ¬Top to Down: When given the total time by project manager, higher level managers tend to squeeze the time to reduce the time and cost. Therefore, lower level manager has to give up the initial schedule to satisfy higher level managers. The finalized time depends on the complexity of the organization: the more layers, the less time to complete a project. Real reasons that causes project delays: пЃ¬Resource constraint: If a resource is shared by many projects or activities, it would be used in order of priority, thus leading to delay of activity or project with lower priority. пЃ¬Dependency: If two activities are serial relationship, which means one relies on the completion of

The total amount of suffering per year in the natural world is beyond all decent contemplation. During the minute that it takes me to compose this sentence, thousands of animals are being eaten alive, many others are running for their lives, whimpering with fear, others are slowly being devoured from within by rasping parasites, thousands of all kinds are dying of starvation, thirst, and disease. • 16. Symbolism In Lord Of The Flies Analysis For centuries philosophers have debated the question of whether man is innately evil. William Golding poses this question in his realistic novel Lord of the Flies. Set on a tropical island during World War II, the novel begins when schoolboys from Great Britain are being flown to safety and their plane is shot down. No adults survive, and the boys are left to govern themselves and get rescued. William Golding uses symbolism in the form of the conch to represents the concept of society. The boys evolving relationship with the conch illustrates Golding s theme that humans, when removed form the pressures of civilized authority, will become evil. In the beginning, the boys view the conch as an important symbol that unites them and gives them the power to deal with their difficult situation. When the conch is first found and blown, it brings everyone together: Ralph found his breath and blew a series of short blasts. Piggy exclaimed, There s one! (Golding 16). Here Piggy observes one boy emerging from the jungle but soon boys conform all around. Each comes for his own reason: some for plain curiosity, other for the prospect of rescue. They all form the first assembly thanks to the conch. The first job of this assembly is to unite even further and choose a leader or chief. Once again the conch plays an important part. It is Ralph who is chosen to be chief, and the main reason for this is because he holds the conch. When it is put to a vote, the boys exclaim, Him with the

The Current Generational Issues Of The Workplace France Nookiah MAN 3240 Research paper Millennials in the workplace Current generational issues in the workplace Millennials have already surpassed the number of baby boomers and have become the majority of the workforce in the U.S, and that number will keep on continuing to increase. But instead of expecting a stronger workforce where the old and new generation would work together to overcome the difficulties, businesses have been struggling in the hiring of millennials. The work environment has changed radically over the years and that has led to several differences between the generations. More than 53% of hiring managers are experiencing difficulties in employing and retaining millennials , and that percentage keeps on increasing as employment turnover keeps growing. The main reason why millennials have such a high turnover rate is because of generational differences. Almost all hiring managers are baby boomers, of age 33 and up . Millennials have a new unique set of values, expectations, working style and skills that very often clashes with the older generations. As such, they often clash with the old school way of most companies. They want and need methods that traditional employers don t usually provide. Despite these issues, it is very important that both generations come together and find a solution. This is very critical for the future of the workforce of the U.S, as more and more baby boomers are retiring, thus increasing vacancy spots that are not being

Richardson produced, directed and captured all the footage himself. The end result is a multitude of powerful one on one interviews, archival footage of patients, and candid long takes. Richardson cuts himself out of the interviews, and edits together strikingly frank sound bytes to showcase his subjects talking about death and the affect of the law. His use of archival footage primarily captures his patients when they were healthy, and provides a striking contrast as they seriously discuss death towards the end of their lives. His use of candid long takes captures some of the most poignant moments of the film, including the final minutes of one man s life after taking the lethal drugs. The camera is a spectator in the room, as the man accompanied by his family; all face his personal decision to die together. All of these different footage types work together to provide emotional weight to an already troubling subject. 2)Richardson s non interventionist style is a prime example of observational documentary, and works specifically well in capturing and promulgating the subject of death. According to Nichols, observational documentaries started appearing in the 1960 s as result of more mobile and smaller equipment. Furthermore, observational documentary stresses non intervention, as filmmakers objectively observe indirect speech, candidness in the form of long takes, and create a world out of historical reality not fabricated with

In the story, the narrator is invited to a party to deliver a speech, however when he arrives he is forced to partake in the Battle Royal. Battle Royal is a chapter from Ellison s book Invisible Man, which is about an African Americanteenager who grows up in a society where he finds himself invisible, as did Ellison himself. In Ralph Ellison s Battle Royal, the American flag tattoo, the blindfold, and the grandfather s deathbed symbolize the overall message that the African Americans were dominated by the whites. The narrator of the story is invited to a party, where he is supposed to present his speech in front of all the people who attend. At the party, the white men invite a stripper to intimidate and scare the African American teenagers. The teenagers are forced to stare at the white, blonde, naked woman that stands in front of them, with no way out and not knowing how to react. While recalling the story from his past, the narrator notices that the stripper has a tattoo of the American flag. The American flag is particularly symbolic to this story, since it is placed on a white woman. While being forced to stare at the naked woman at the party, the narrator says, I wanted at one and the same time to run from the room, to sink through the floor, or go to her and cover her from my eyes and the eyes of the others with my body (Ellison). Even if they do have feelings for her, they are forbidden to act upon them, since it was illegal to have mixed race relationships during the 20th century. According to SAGE Publications, the emergence of racial genomics, I argue, is a response to these specific threats to the racial hierarchy and to white dominance (Fitzgerald). The white men bring the stripper to the party, mainly to torture the teenagers and make them feel uncomfortable. The white men dominate over the African Americans, and therefore feel that it is right to control their every action. Unlike today, where interracial relationships and marriages are accepted, in the 20th century it was even forbidden to look at a woman of the other race.

A non verbal response like smiling or nodding can be an appropriate response. It does not matter if the response is verbal or non verbal, listening will help to ensure that the response is effective. The bottom of the pyramid is the foundation on which the other blocks stand. If there was a pyramid to represent communication skills, listening would be the foundation or the base for communication. Communication skills build on each other and the skill that is used for the moment in time is the tip of the pyramid. Truly effective communication involves more than just expressing yourself clearly. It also requires effective listening (Brown, 2009). Listening helps to strengthen the other communication skills like feedback and presentation. It is hard to present to an audience without understanding the audience s needs. To understand the

This is in part because the symbol is all over their buildings, which they go to to attend sermons that brings them happiness. DRAFT 4 Manzar The chaired lady ... This is one of the first impressions of Sophy that Hardy presents to readers. The word chaired suggests a sense of weakness, inability and insignificance. These ideas are crucially embedded through Sophy in The son s veto and the narrator in Sandpiper . The authors do this to emphasise the tragic lives of the characters and how they are victims of the societies that mould their perception. To begin with, readers feel sympathy towards Sophy in The Son s Veto as she is constantly mocked by Randolph, who views her with great contempt, I am ashamed of you! It will ruin me! A miserable boor! A churl! A clown! Randolf hasn t even met Sam yet and already becomes judgmental and compares him to a boor and a churl simply because of his lower social status. This authenticates that Randolph has no concerns for his mother s feelings and is just being exceedingly egoistic and all he cares about is his status. Hardy might be trying to depict that narcissism is a trait that comes along with high status. This is quite ironic because his father had no problem with marrying a woman with lower status. However, the frustration kicks in when Sophy says, Say no more perhaps I am wrong! I will struggle against it , as she denies the one thing she loves the most, just for her son who almost resents her. This frustrates the

This was a period in Europe and America when mankind was emerging from centuries of ignorance into a new age enlightened by reason, science, and respect for humanity. This period promoted scientific thought, skeptics, and intellectual interchange: dismissing superstition, intolerance, and for some, religion. Western Europe, Germany, France, and Great Britain, and the American Colonies generally influenced the age of reason. Following the Renaissance, science and rationality was the forefront of this age. The enlightenment came as a wave throughout Europe, drastically changing the culture. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... An unobstructed supply of grain in France would be a means of increasing total output. In 1776 Adam Smith published The Wealth of Nations, which forwards similar ideas. Smith was somewhat different from the physiocrats, though, because he believed that labor and the market were the prime creators of wealth. Smith argues The greatest improvement in the productive powers of labour, and the greater part of the skill, dexterity, and judgment with which it is anywhere directed, or applied, seem to have been the effects of the division of labour. (Smith) He believes labor for one owns success is the best way to work, not wealth based on social standings. In making these arguments, both the physiocrats and Adam Smith struck at the hold that the aristocracy was trying to maintain on the economy. Locke agrees, All wealth is the product of labor The laissez faire economists believed that wealth should not be confined to one class. As articulated in France, therefore, the argument for laissez faire economics was an argument that the ancient regime should be abolished and replaced with a more equal basis for society. Most literature was nonfiction, which means it was based on fact rather than being made up by the author s imagination. Its aims were to instruct, to enlighten, and to make people think. The connotation of this statement implies the strong sentiment of the 60s that defines the transition from a traditionalist society to one of free expression. Conformity shaped the American society of the 50s and continued to influence the early years of the 1960s. The 50s created a sense of false stability and unity in the United Statespost WWII. Economically, the country was prosperous due to the levels of wartime production, and the population was at no shortage of citizens thanks to the baby boom. These movements were popular influences for artists and sculptors alike and helped to spread positive sentiment towards the affected minorities of the 60s society. Judy Chicago was one of the main female pioneers for women in the arts for her sculptures that promoted a sense of attention and recognition for women of the feminist movement. Her pieces of art celebrated the experiences and accomplishments of women through time and focused on the uniqueness and differences that a woman had in comparison to man. Chicago also used materials that would have been considered women s homestay activities, including needlework and ceramic decoration, in order to show that a woman s art is comparable to a man s and is capable of having its own story and content. Domes is a selected piece of art that consists of three domed figures laid out in a triangular formation that represents a symbol of feminism in its softer appearance and layout. Transitively, the feminist art movement was also related to the art that was created by African Americans during the 60s. Both groups were advocating for improved rights, and both took the opportunity to utilize art to expand upon the ideas and accomplishments of the movements they were a part of. Sculptor Elizabeth Catlett and photographer Moneta Sleet Jr. were both influenced by the civil rights movements, Sleet being closely associated with Martin Luther King Jr. and his peace marches. Catlett had a hand in both the feminist and African American art realms. Her wooden or clay sculptures represented the strength and power of both African and Mexican women who ranged from laborers to mothers, and through this art she established her position as an advocate for women of all races and the African American race. Sleet was directly affiliated with Martin Luther King Jr. from the day he was sent to record the boycott in

With legs crossed at the heels and arms folded, a man leaned his lower back against the dark marble counter of a small apartment kitchen. His hair was short, blonde, and styled with hair gel. His face was rounded and subtly angular with a jaw accentuated by a rough stubbly ginger brown beard. The beard was quite thick and dense, and appeared as if some days before there had been an attempt to neatly trim it. His eyes were bright green, almond shaped and innocent but were made slightly sinister by a thick arched brow and a widows peak hairline. Above him was a selection of dark cupboards like you might expect to find in such a kitchen, except the doors all hung open and another man was rifling through them. The guy was pissed off with... So you expect that fucking jar to fill up to the brim with drowning flies? And even if that were realistic and did happen, what happens when it s full? Huck was very irritated by this point. He was standing in the door way to the balcony, gesturing wildly at the jar in Ted s hand; a fly was already circuling it. Put another one next to it. Ted explained. Another jar of jam? Two jars attracting flies to a balcony that used to attract less than ten at one time? If you put two jars of jam on this balcony people are going to think there s a dead body up here. Ted popped the lid off of the jar. What you can just forecast the future can you? Asked Ted sarcastically. You hear out someone s plan and just know what s going to happen? It s obvious! Sure Huck, why don t you use your magic powers to summon a dragon and we ll just smoke them out. Problem solved. Huck lunged through the door swiping at the jar. We re going to have flies crawling all over us! He shouted. Huck s flailing arms slapped the jar from Ted s hand and it smashed loudly on the floor; jam

Ball State University s production of Parade presents Leo Frank, the protagonist and the one depicted as a foreigner. No matter what stage of life a person is in, being cast as an outsider is a common feeling, whether it s going to a new school, meeting new people, or simply moving 873 miles (Brooklyn, NY to Atlanta, GA) away from home. However, others believe that being on the outside is a blessing in disguise providing the user with vigilance and a better understanding on those around them. Regardless of that matter, everyone knows what it s like to be the newcomer to any particular group or setting. Ball State s management of Parade captures the portrayal of what it s like to feel alienated in a town you cannot call home. Parade s persistent theme that a person shouldn t be judged due to their character/background is best corresponded through the lighting design during Let At Work/ What Am I Waiting For? , Leo s acting of rubbing his hands together, and the costume designof Leo compared to all the townspeople. Billie Jean King Billie Jean King: Portrait of a Pioneer Billie Jean King: Portrait of a Pioneer shows the dedication and drive that women had to have in order to be successful at sports in the twentieth contrary. Billie Jean King who came from a very athletic family first got her inspiration to succeed at sports from the athletic sermons she herd in church every Sunday as a young child. One of her friends was starting to play tenses and she wanted to start also. After working around the neighborhood to earn the money for her first racket, Billie Jean King overcame many obstacles along with great personal struggles to become the best professional tennis player of her time. One of the biggest things that she pushed for in her career was equal pay for men and women in sports. This was a struggle for her as she had trouble paying for her tennis. In the early days of her playing she was not allowed in the picture of her first tennis club because she was not wearing the proper tennis skirt, but instead had on shorts. Her family did not have a lot of extra money to put into her expensive tennis career and it was hard for them to afford the elitists sport. She along with other women had to stand up and risk being band from the tennis league when they signed one dollar contracts with the Virginia Slims to bring attention to the struggle for equal play. It became apparent to Billy even from the young age that she was when she was not allowed in the picture because of her attire that women where not

During the battle of Gettysburg, Chamberlain had acquired the rank of Brigadier General and had led the 20th Maine Regiment to counterattack the Confederates. Joshua not only had the daring ability to attack the Confederates but he had also had the ability to persuade men that he d been given to continue fighting. Throughout the battle of Gettysburg Chamberlain had displayed some, if not all, of the seven army values. One of the most prominent values Joshua had displayed was respect. Early in the morning, he had been approached by his right hand man Buster Kilrain, who had informed Joshua that he was about to receive 120 veterans from the Second Maine. He had told the 150 men that he would not shoot them if they disobeyed him or refused to fight. The reason for this is because most of the people that were in that group were actually from Maine similar to Chamberlain. He knew that in a way it would be against what loyalty means if he killed them. He didn t want to shoot people that came from the same place as him and who decided to fight just like him. He stays loyal to his country, his state, his brother and to his men that he had been commanding. I would also say that he carried out his duty to his country. Throughout his years of service he acquired the rank of Lieutenant Colonel of the 20th Maine Volunteer Infantry Regiment. He also displayed selfless service, integrity and personal courage. These values are all relatively similar in that they all have something to do with the way that one would carry themselves and their beliefs. The first was when Bugs Bunny was tied up on the table being prepared for dinner. The second when bugs bunny lit the explosives and placed it in Taz s mouth, and the last instance was when Taz swallowed the explosives and it exploded in his stomach. I don t believe that violence is necessary in television for any other reason that to add a shock value and increase viewer ratings. When violence was first introduced to television it was to illustrate real life as well as add a shock value and was done in small doses. Violence in cartoons were once viewed as funny because the violent behaviors shown were so farfetched from reality that it just seemed amusing. Semiotics in Art History The Oxford English Dictionary defines semiotics as [the] science of communication studied through interpretation of signs and symbols as they operate in various fields, especially language. Semiology is characterized as the science of signs which studies the life of signs within society. Signs include, among others, sounds, images, words, odors, objects; they are concepts that stand for something else in a system of signification. They allow us to communicate a concept or an idea while it is physically absent. In art history, the simplest description of semiology consists of the translation of an image into words. Two prominent founders of the contemporary sign theories are Peirce and Saussure. Although they focus on the same... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This idea is intrinsically related to the concepts of the sender and the viewer, which will be discussed in the next sections of this paper. The second issue discussed by the art historians is the sender of a work. In this section, Bal and Bryson define and differentiate the composition of the artist of a work. First, there is the concept of the sender as an individual, or J. Bloggs, as they call him. J. Bloggs stands for the name of the individual, a designation, not a description;[...] it does not assign any particular characteristics to its bearer (p.181). The second aspect of the sender is the author, which is in the works, in a body of artifacts and in the complex operations performed on them (p.181). It is the notions of enframement that distinguishes J.Bloggs from the author, which is what Bal and Bryson identify as an elaborate work of framing, something we can elaborately produce rather than something we simply find (p. 181). The art historian, Culler, explains that authorship is given, not produced, as he states that what counts as authorship is determined by interpretative strategies (p.181). Thus, in simpler terms, the author or artist could be produced in the sense that his attributed works and other interpretable material, and ultimately produce a conception. Attributions are said to be evidenced through material traces of the author in the work,

Mr Golding:At the age that the boys are, they are boisterous, very loud and they are basically trying to impress each other. Jack is known as the leader of the hunters, but it is obvious that he really doesn t have a clue about hunting. I purposely made him a choirboy because they are known to be girl like quiet pretty boys. When Jack tells the boys he will be the leader of the hunters, there is a sense of shock. I wanted it to be a surprise for the reader that such an innocent boy could be so sinister. He is so eager to gain some kind of authority over the group that he is willing to destroy his innocence and murder a creature. Leanne:You mentioned innocence there. What do you mean by that? Mr Golding:Well, a fifteen year old boy has a lot of innocence about him. By killing something, the young child is almost breaking the rules of what it has been brought up to believe in. When they witness blood that they have caused, their childhood is automatically broken. Leanne: I see. There is a lot of chaos running through the book. Why did you add this effect? Mr Golding: Young boys always want to be in charge. I imagined myself and a group of my friends, when we were younger of course, stranded on an island. We
