How you gather your information depends on your research interest, the research problem you wish to address, and the plan you draw up based on the topic. So we start with the stages of your study

20. Working in the Community Take a lot of notes and be prepared to do it the old fashioned way. Laptops may not be feasible. Schedule your time by the local’s timeline, not your own. Learn the etiquette of the community and abide by them ASAP. Remember you are a guest; behave like one. 21. Leaving the Community Remember that reciprocity is a cultural universal and there is a strong obligation to give—and repay for all the information the community has provided you.
