Virginia Woolf Death Of The Moth
The Death of the Moth by Virginia Woolf explains the life of a moth that is centered around a role that
represents life. The theme is the mystery of death and the correspondence of the life of the moth with
the true nature of life. Death is a difficult subject for anyone to speak of but it part of life.
The Death Process, the struggling and fighting against death. It is demonstrated that death was
inevitable, humans tend to fight against death and anything in the way of the power will fail
eventually. Moths are associated with death as a symbol. The character of the moth itself is a
metaphorical reference and also the representation of Woolf s mental illnesses. The moth s battle with
death can represent the struggle Woolf had with her illnesses, the ups and downs in her own personal
battles. The acceptance of death relates to the suicide of Woolf, after many successes and failures, you
can t always keep fighting. The moral is that regardless of what happens to someone, life goes on and
the world does not stop turning. The word death is repeated many times in the last paragraph as it is
trying to emphasize that nothing can win the battle against oncoming doom. ... Show more content on

She chose to write strong and significant things on purpose, such as the scoring plough, the horses, the
ploughmen, the rooks etc. She aimed to foreshadow the contrast between the moth and outside living
beings. Compared to the world outside the window, the moth was pathetic and little or nothing but life
. However, compared to the oncoming doom , even the large and strong outside world was fragile and
insignificant, let alone the little moth. The world inside the window was individual and different from
the world outside. The moth flying around the window, from one corner to another, or across them.
Death crept and Woolf wanted to help it, but suddenly realized that this was the token of

Interpersonal Communication And The Self
Throughout this semester in communications I have learned a lot about myself, how to deal with
others, relationships, and more. There were some lessons that stood out to me the most, and that I
thought about after class. The first was in chapter 3 about interpersonal communication and the self.
During this chapter, we took a piece of paper and put four people that we knew down. We chose
someone who we were just getting to know, and then others that we knew very well or that were very
close to us. In this lesson, we were discussing the social penetration theory. The first step is the
breadth which is a volunteered amount of information that we tell someone as subjects are being
discussed. The second step is depth which is when we began to go deeper into personal information.
The four people that I chose were a girl I had just met at work, my sister, my dad, and my boyfriend.
After completing the circles and filling in the amount of information that I have covered with them,
the girl I work with had the least, and my sister had the most filled in to the core. After completing this
lesson, I looked at my paper and realized that almost everyone was more filled in to the core than my
relationship with my father. This lesson struck a major cord with me because I never realized how
surface level my relationship with my dad was until talking about this lesson. I knew that my father
and I were not that close to begin with, but I never knew why. After this lesson, I understood that my

Preveting Teen Suicide
Imagine a girl, 12 years old in her room. She is standing on a chair . She has a rope around her neck
which is tied to the ceiling fan. On the count of three she pushes the chair off her feet and then
suddenly everything goes black. Suicide is the third cause of death in teens. It takes about 35,000 lives
each year, almost 11 million people have tried to take their lives. Suicide can be triggered by many
things, this action has many effects but can be solved with some simple steps. Suicide can be triggered
by many actions. To start off with , suicide can be caused by many different feelings. Feelings of guilt,
shame, anger, rejection or loss can cause suicide. According to D Arcy Lyness from KidsHealth.org,
rejection, hurting, or loss are some emotions out of many which causes suicide Guilt is also a factor
which causes this act.(kidshealth.org Suicide By D Arcy Lyness) Basically, if a person experiences
these feelings than they want to escape these horrible emotions than they pick the route of suicide to
evade these feelings. Furthermore, suicide can be provoked by drug or substance abuse. The article
Suicide from Kids Health Organization says that Teens with alcohol and drug problems are also more
at risk for suicidal thinking and behavior. (kidshealth.org Suicide By D Arcy Lyness) If a person does
drugs or drinks alchocol then they will be more likely to be less happy. Once they take drugs their
happy place changes to a new higher level.

Is Inequality Natural
Is Inequality Natural? During the Enlightenment era, a critical concept addressed by many prominent
authors was the equality of humankind. In Enlightenment terms, inequality can be defined as the
difference in qualities capable of demanding respect (Rousseau 1995: 425), such as strength or skill,
as well as difference in civil rights and liberties of man. Both definitions will be used in this essay, as
well as how they are related. In Jean Jacques Rousseau s Discourse on the Origin of Inequality, nature,
or the natural state of man, is portrayed as man before the rise of any social order. This essay will
analyze man in this natural state to determine that humans are naturally unequal, and it is only through
submission to a social contract ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Declaration of the Rights of Man and the Citizen (DRMC) states that, Men are born and remain
free and equal in rights (French Nat. Assembly 1995: 467). So, using this logic, yes, humans are equal
and entitled to the same rights and freedom of every other human being. Yet in nature, there is nothing
that necessarily protects those rights and freedoms. Who is going to stop a stronger, more powerful
enemy from ignoring these rights and enslaving those weaker than himself? Thomas Paine answers
this question in his essay entitled African Slavery in America. He declares that every man has a
natural, perfect right to their freedom, and it is the job of the government to, set them free, and punish
those who hold them in slavery (Paine 1995: 647). Furthermore, the DRMC states that The aim of
every political association is the preservation of the natural and inalienable rights of man. It is the role
of government to protect the rights of its citizens. Rousseau held that this social order is a sacred right
which is the basis of all rights. He goes on to argue that this right is not of nature, and must be
founded on conventions (Rousseau 1995: 431). The only rights that nature guarantees for someone are
those that they can defend for themselves. Therefore, by nature, rights are unequal from one being to
the next, just as talents, strengths, and abilities are unequal. However, a person s claim to a social
order guarantees them a protection of rights and freedoms that they can gain in no other way. Of
course, during the time of these writings there were oppressed members of society, that even though
they did their part, did not receive these same protections. In America alone, African Americans,
Native Americans, women, etc. all were excluded from the equal rights promised to white males.

Police Professionalism And Police Officers Essay
In the early 1900 s police professionalism was formed. Until then there was much corruption and
police departments were unprofessional. Influenced by police departments in Europe, America
underwent a progressive reform in their police departments. The first step towards police
professionalism was to replace police boards with chiefs of police. During the progressive era, August
Vollmer, Police Chief of Berkley, established a department code of ethics which included officers not
accepting gratuities and favors; any officer doing so would be subjected to penalties or a dismissal.
During this time formal training through police academies was started in 1908. In 1916, we start to see
policemen acquiring a college education. University of California, Berkley had a police training
school set up by Vollmer. Presently Vollmer s standards of scientific policing, education, high
standards and centralization of police services still influence police departments.
President Johnson assembled a commission in 1965 to study rising crime rates and create strategies to
combat crime. Riots were the main reason this commission came about. The report published in 1967,
entitled The Challenge of Crime in a Free Society, contained over 200 recommendations concerning
criminal justice reform (Roth, 2011). According to Roth (2011) police departments had become
isolated from the communities. Chapter 4 of the report addresses issues dealing with the police. The
commission recommended more police on

Changing the Momentum of a Ball
What is predicted to happen in this experiment is when an angle of elevation of a ramp is changed on
one side this will affect the amount of momentum a ball possess before collision and after collision.
The ball that travels down a ramp with a steeper angle, will have a greater velocity therefore produce
more momentum because it has a greater velocity compared to the ball travelling down a ramp not as
steep. This will then affect the amount of kinetic energy a ball possess after collision. The ball that is
travelling down the ramp with a slightly higher angle, will possess more kinetic energy before
collision but after collision it will posses less kinetic energy because of it being an elastic collision
where energy is conserved and transfers some energy to the ball travelling down the less steep ramp
with less momentum. Therefore the ball travelling down the ramp that is not as steep will possess
more kinetic energy after collision.
In the experiment the ball that travelled down the ramp with a less steep angle of elevation rebounded
further than the ball that travelled down the ramp with a slightly higher angle of elevation. This
occurred because the ball did not possess as much momentum as the ball travelling down the ramp
with a higher angle of elevation. Momentum is the product of an objects mass and velocity. The
reason why the ball travelling down the ramp with a higher of elevation had more momentum, causing
the ball to not rebound as far, was because the

Ophelia In Hamlet Essay
Polonius, Ophelia s father, embodies the theories the Other and a lack of female agency while
discussing with Ophelia a similar case to her brother. In act 1 scene 3 of Hamlet, Polonius decides to
inform Ophelia of the same matters that Laertes provides her. While Ophelia is departing from sending
off her brother, Polonius asks Ophelia what her and her brother were discussing, resulting in her
receiving unsolicited advice from her father on how to handle Hamlet s sexual and romantic advances.
Polonius states, Tender yourself more dearly / Or ... / you ll tender me a fool. (1.3.107 109). What he
is stating here is that if Ophelia does not respect herself and succumbs to Hamlet s lustful actions,
Polonius will be painted as a fool. Similar to Laertes disccusion, Polonius s comment to Ophelia
marks the notion that Ophelia cannot be respected if she operates in sexual endeavors. This idea
represents Balizet s notion that women s sexuality is a patriarchal standard and also represents de
Beauvoir s notion that a woman is not sexual unless with a man. However, there is a deeper standard
that is portrayed by Polonius that is a necessity to address. In the quote provided above, Polonius
discusses that his respect will be lost as well if Ophelia acts on lust because he is her father. This form
of selfishness that is represented within Polonius s speech supports de Beauvoir s theory that women
are thought of to be as the Other of men. Polonius s anxiety of loss of respect for himself

Moving To Toronto Essay
After graduating high school in June, I plan on moving back to my birth city to study Materials
Science and Engineering at the University of Toronto. After not living in Toronto since I was a baby
and have absolutely no memories from then, I hope that I will be able to seamlessly adapt to the
different environment. I am certain that I will struggle with the cold for at least my freshman year, but
I still think I will be able to get used to it.
Moving to Toronto as of September will be quite difficult because of the distance of over 2.5 thousand
miles and not knowing anybody who lives there. I will have a completely fresh start in my social life,
which can both be a good and a bad thing. Although I will be leaving my friends, I will be able to
create and form new friend groups and gain a newer perspective on matters by communicating and
spending time with a larger variety of people. Given the fact that the University of Toronto has over
80,000 students, I have no doubt in my mind that I ll be able to meet a wide range of people with
different cultures and backgrounds.

E. D. Hirsch s Literary Analysis
E.D. Hirsch, also known as Eric Donald Hirsch was born on March 22, 1928. He is an American
educator and academic literary critic. Hirsch graduated in 1950, from Cornell University with his
Bachelors. Then, he later earned his Doctorate from Yale University in 1957. He taught at Yale for
about ten years before he accepted a professorship at the University of Virginia in the year 1966.
During his early works of writing, he focused on the interpretation of literature and argues that a
textual interpretation shouldn t disregard the influence of the author and the author s cultural
background. Aside from all of this, Hirsch also held some important theories on education. Theory of
Value Hirsch was a huge advocate for teaching core knowledge that emphasizes upon specific
information for students to learn. Basic topics such as government, math, language skills, important
events in world history, famous pieces of art, music and literature are all a lasting body of knowledge
according to Hirsch. He also believed that a child should learn an expansive vocabulary because it
helps to extend their knowledge and their ability to learn new things. He also thinks that general
knowledge should be a major goal for education because it makes people efficient regardless of their
race, class or ethnicity. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Importance Of Religious Freedom In America
Today, in modern America, religious freedom is a right for all people, but it was not always this way.
All the founders came from different religions, and found it important to have that freedom to believe
in whatever the individual wants. It forever changed the course of America. Due to one diligent man,
it has become a part of the American life of all citizens. This man believed strongly in what he wanted,
and was persecuted for his beliefs, and kicked out of many universities and schools. He became a
strong advocate, and the colony he established would change the tolerance of all people. William
Penn, the founder of Pennsylvania, established a colony based on the ideas of religious liberty,
equality, and self government which served as the foundation of America s constitutional rights in a
secular government wherein all citizens may freely practice their religious belief, those ideas still
impact the government s inaction concerning citizens religious practices.
According to William Penn, the key principles of religious toleration were religious liberty, equality,
and self government. According to William Penn: Faith Not Force, it claims Guided by his conscience
and their teachings, Penn became an outspoken supporter and a writer in search of mutual respect for
varying religions. He became a very active supporter of this right, and continued to press for the
respect or equality. Liberty is given to the people by allowing them an environment that provides a

This heterogeneous catalyst can be applied to a wide variety of activated and non activated primary
and secondary alcohols. As shown in Table 3, benzyl alcohol and substituted benzyl alcohols are
converted to their corresponding aldehydes efficiently. In the case of benzyl alcohol, after 30 min,
only benzaldehyde was obtained in 99% yield. In longer reaction times (1h), the obtained products are
97% p OCH3 benzaldehyde and 3% p OCH3 benzoic acid. The results show that the substituent s
have no major effect on the oxidation of benzylic alcohols. A good selectivity experimental in the case
of cinnamyl alcohol and only oxidized in alcoholic group and no epoxide yield was obtained.
Manganese(II)non heme was also used for oxidation of secondary alcohols and their corresponding
ketones were obtained in good yields. We used hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) as the oxidant and
[Mn(BPMP)(OTf)2] as the catalyst for the oxidation of alcohols. To a mixture of substrate (1mmol),
manganese non heme catalyst (1mol %), and solvent (CH3CN = 3mL) was added H2O2 (1.2mmol).
The reaction mixture was stirred for 30 min at room temperature. This system has shown high
catalytic activities for the oxidation of non activated and activated alcohols under mild conditions as
shown in Table 4. Secondary alcohols were easily converted to the corresponding ketones in excellent
yields and reaction selectivity was over 99% in all cases. Cyclic alcohols

period of the last Shah s reign were the years of seeming stability in Iran. The coercive control
apparatus, especially SAVAK (the security and information agency), convinced the Iranian people that
it was omnipresent, omniscient, and entirely ruthless. It was generally accepted in opposition circles
that the number of political prisoners was in the range of 50,000 100,000, and there were detailed and

Eat Drink Man Woman By Ang Lee Essay
Taiwanese born American filmmaker Ang Lee tells the story of a closely knit family with repressed
emotions in Taipei, Taiwan during a time of rapid modernization. Aging master chef Chu, Old Chu,
who has lost his sense of taste and his three unmarried adult daughters have a tradition of eating
elaborate Sunday dinners together. The eldest is Jia Jen a schoolteacher and a converted Christian. Jia
Chien, is the beautiful middle daughter who is a successful businesswoman. Finally, the youngest is
Jia Ning, a college student who also works at a fast food restaurant. Initially this tradition is portrayed
as a tortuous experience which the three daughters dread, but later becomes an important forum for the
family s life changing announcements. Using food as a medium Lee s film Eat Drink Man Woman
(1994) explores the themes of gender roles, family and globalization.
The title of this film Eat Drink Man Woman expresses an immediate introduction into the issues of
gender and authority. Which greatly shape the role of woman in the professional world of food which
is a predominantly male industry. This is shown through the all male staff at the Grand Hotel the
restaurant that old Chu works at. In the Grand Hotel, Chu and his best friend Old Wen are seen as two
of the most important figures within the kitchen. This is communicated in the scene when Chu is
eating his traditional Sunday dinner with his family and he gets called into work. As he strides

Do School Shooters Really Cause Mass School Shootings In...
Since 2013, there have been 175 school shootings in America. That is such a horrible number to hear.
There s been so much activity on school shooting that it doesn t come as a shock when one happens.
As Obama said after the shooting at Umpqua Community College in Roseburg, Oregon, where a
gunman went on a rampage and murdered at least 10 people, Somehow this has become a routine. All
shooters have a motive and it has to do with their life at home, how they were treated at school, and
how their mental health is. Initially, for a school shooter to become an enemy to society they have to
be raised differently. For example, Adam Lanza, shooter who caused the horrible deaths of children at
Sandy Hook elementary, was raised by a mom who lived in a rural area in New Hampshire where
hunting and shooting guns was a regular activity there. Adam showed signs of interest to guns at an
early age and his mom would buy him guns to start collecting at age 14. At this point in time he was
diagnosed mentally ill and he started to be obsessed with violent fantasies. A main reason his mom
would buy him guns is so that they can share an interest in something together and bond. So you have
to take into consideration that what happens whilst a child is growing up and how they are raised will
impact future actions. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

HIV And AIDS
HIV and AIDS are different. HIV stands for human immunodeficiency virus and AIDS stands for
acquired immune deficiency syndrome. This disease damages a person s immune system making it
easier to get sick. HIV is transmitted through semen, vaginal fluids, blood, and breast milk. HIV
works by attacking the T cell in the human body. There is no cure for this disease, but early detection
is important for treatment. Once a person is diagnosed with HIV they will always have it. This is a
very devastating disease and it is preventable.
Synopsis of film
I chose to watch the movie And the Band Played On. This movie took a look into the first years of
when they discovered HIV/AIDS. The movie starts out with two doctors over in Africa trying to
contain the Ebola disease before it spread to other parts of the country. They burned the bodies to
prevent the disease from spreading more. As the movie continues it starts case by case of each patient
infected with HIV. The doctors are baffled by the lab values showing that the patients have no T cell
count. Nevertheless, the CDC starts getting involved because they know that it is occurring among the
homosexual men and the numbers keep rising. They started interviewing homosexual men and
searching gay community places to understand how it was spreading. They found poppers that could
be a possible cause but all the tests that they ran on them came back with no possible reasoning that it
s causing this disease. The doctors began looking into

`` The Destination `` By Wang Anyi
It was not easy to live in Shanghai (Anyi 137). This line, echoed throughout Wang Anyi s short piece
The Destination is the glowing heartbeat of the story. A refrain filled with both longing and sadness, it
hints at the many struggles faced by thousands upon thousands trying to get by in the city of Shanghai.
One of these lost souls, the protagonist, Chen Xin, was one of the many youths taken from his family
and sent to live the in the countryside during the Cultural Revolution. Ten years after the fact, Chen
Xin views the repercussions of the Cultural Revolution internally and externally as he processes the
changes that both he, and his hometown have over gone in the past ten years. Devastatingly, he comes
to the conclusion that there is no going back to the time of his childhood, and his fond memories of
Shanghai exist solely in memory. This is in large part is due to the changes brought on by the Cultural
Revolution. These effects of the Cultural Revolution are a central theme to the story; with
repercussions seen on a cultural level, as well as a personal one. The effects of the Cultural Revolution
are seen on a nationwide level, with national trends and ideals rapidly changing due to the Cultural

The Black Hills Of South Dakota
Lets take a trip back in time to 1884 in the Black Hills of South Dakota. A New York lawyer had just
traveled there to inspect mining claims in that region. The man s name was Charles E. Rushmore.
Rushmore was curious by one of the mountains and asked a towns person what the name of the
mountain was. The towns person replied saying it had no name. From then on Charles Rushmore
started calling it Rushmore Peak. Over time it became known as Mount Rushmore (history.com).
During the following years the area of the Black Hills decided they wanted to start attracting tourist
the region. I the early 1920s the state historian of South Dakota, Doane Robinson, came up with an
idea to attract tourist. He thought of the idea to to carve famous historic heroes of the west into the
side of the mountain (history.com). In 1924, Robinson decided to contact the famous American
sculptor, Gutzon Borgium, about his idea. Borgium at the time was working on another project for
Georgia, but Robinson was able to convince him to abandon his project and come
Before picture of Mount Rushmore to the Black Hills. When Borgium arrived in South Dakota he
suggested that they use George Washington and Abraham Lincoln because of their significance to
America. Later, he also decided to add Thomas Jefferson and Theodore Roosevelt. Robinson and
Borgium both decided that the sculpture would be dedicated to these four men to recognize their
contributions to the birth of democracy and growth of the United States.

How Did Louis Xiv Influence Art
Louis XIV s symbol was the sun. He chose this because the sun is the center of the universe and all of
the planets orbit around it, just as he wanted all of France to orbit around him. Louis XIV showed his
absolutist values within art of the 17th century. He controlled what was acceptable to create and
perform, he controlled art education all throughout France, and he controlled the style of the time.
Louis XIV and everyone under him treated the arts as an important branch of government. He founded
famous royal academies of dance, painting, architecture, and music as well as furniture workshops and
royal tapestry workshops that bore his name. Painting flourished in 17th century France, and by
creating academies and a good art education King Louis XIV was able to spread the French style,
culture, and art around the world. He founded the Academy of Fine Art which established rules and
conventions that artists were subject to when painting. King Louis XIV had complete control over
what artists could paint. Throughout the 17th century French paintings progressed from a more ...

Racial Predujice toward Minority Groups
Racial prejudice toward minority groups has been a problem throughout all of history. While overt
racism and prejudice may be diminished from the days of our dark past, covert racism is very much
alive. Society loves to embellish on how far the country has come in the fight against racial prejudice
by highlighting significant events such as having the first black president. Yet there are still too many
instances of subtle racism. In 2011, there were almost 700,000 incidents of stop and frisk policing in
New York. Nine out of ten of these incidents involved blacks or Hispanics, which is ridiculous
because blacks make up less than a quarter of the New York Population (Bobo 2013). Prejudice causes

of respect. Continuing the fight towards an unprejudiced world has so many benefits including making
sure everyone feels safe and respected in society and the possibility to learn from other ethnic groups.
A world without prejudice would be a much more effective world with more time spent on making life
better for all instead of violence and hate. Government officials and psychologists are trying to
advertise how being in contact with other ethnic groups has reduced prejudice. Many psychologists
are already praising contact theory research for its contribution toward world peace and its efforts
against prejudice (Dixon, Tropp, Durrheim, and Tredoux 2010). However, the two empirical

What Is Southwest Airlines Case Study
Recommendation
Over the years Southwest Airlines has steadily grew, but their growth has been highly controlled. This
highly controlled growth has allowed them to avoid the trap of growing beyond their means. With the
acquisition of AirTran Air, it accelerated Southwest Airlines entry into the international markets. As
we hold a large investment in Southwest Airlines, I believe this merger with AirTran Air will not affect
the strategy and culture of Southwest Airlines. Southwest Airlines strategy and culture has a history of
being successful as well as creating large profits for the company and its stakeholders. I do see
Southwest Airlines maintaining their laser like focus on their basic strategy, but it will take time to
fully transition Southwest Airlines strategy and culture to AirTran Air. With this said we should retain
our investment in Southwest Airlines as the company has been consistently profitable for decades and
has weathered hardships such as, the September 11 terrorist attacks, and the 2008 2009 recession.
While making my decision to retain our investment in Southwest Airlines I analyzed Southwest
Airlines performance in the U.S airline industry, as well as looked at Southwest s operations,
strategy/culture. The advantages to my recommendation of retaining our investment in Southwest
Airlines is that our company could see high returns for our customers and shareholders. In addition,
our investment in Southwest Airlines could increase in size, which would

Devil In Young Goodman Brown
Young Goodman Brown is a religious man that oddly takes a chance for the worst. Goodman Brown
leaves his home at the beginning of the story to go exploring into a forest where he is changed by what
is happening in the forest. When Goodman Brown leaves at night is significant because at night evil
things can happened. The difference between him leaving at night and day is that he knows he shouldn
t be doing what he is doing, because at night more things are unseen. Goodman Brown was pulled in
the forest by this devil figure, also he knows he shouldn t be meeting with devils, because that shows
he is leaving his faith and his wife. Goodman Brown was late to the meeting with the devil, and the
devil was wondering why he was late so he asked him.

My Favorite School Field Trip
Some people wouldn t think school could be fun. All that we do is learn. All field trips we go on are
just educational and boring. Well some might be, but many can be fun. You would never think
somewhere you ve always wanted to go to would be your next field trip. Somewhere really fun. I have
thought plenty of times in the past that I didn t want to go on the trip it was boring, but I was wrong
and this is why.
My first favorite school memory was in eighth grade. I was in chorus and we were going on a trip to
Massachusetts with the band for a competition. I was super excited and couldn t wait to sell all of my
tickets. When the day finally came I was so excited. We rode in a coach bus which was really cool
because I ve never been in one before. When we arrived in Massachusetts we headed over to where
we were having the competition. The competition was being held at a really big school. We performed
and sounded really good. I was super nervous I didn t want to mess up since I had never done that
before.
When we were finally done the competition we got our award handed to us and our tickets to get into
Six Flags. We left the school and head off on our journey to Agawam, Massachusetts where Six Flags
was located. As we got closer and closer there were flags on the side of the road leading us there and
my anticipation grew even stronger. I couldn t wait to get there.
Once we finally arrived everyone couldn t wait to get off the bus and have some fun. I was really
excited. We got off the bus and had a really long walk to get into the park. There were no close
parking spaces for the bus so we had to go all the way to the back parking lot and walk up to the
entrance. Once I walked into the park it was so much bigger than any I expected. All the roller
coasters were huge. I didn t get to go on any because everyone would ask me to hold their stuff but a
couple things I did go on were the bumper cars, a water slide, a boat ride and I played some mini
games. Those were fun enough for me but if I ever go back again I am going to try the roller coasters.
The water slide was really fun. All you had to do was go up a ramp inside a tube and the ramp would
push you down the slide while water was being splashed at

Deathstroke Vs Deadpool Comparison
If you were given a piece of every superhero s powers known to man, which powers would make you
the most superior? Deadpool (of the Marvel Universe) can be classified as the most powerful of all
mutants, whereas, Deathstroke (of the DC universe) makes it to the top 5 list of strongest metahumans
in his own reality. Both characters were products of a scientific lab gone wrong. If both of their
universes were to merge, who would triumph in a battle between these two iconic characters?
Deadpool and Deathstroke are similar in terms of being anti heroes, however, Deadpool is superior to
Deathstroke because he has more athletic capabilities, has a variety of combat methods, and his
chances of survival are higher.

The same health regeneration ability of Wolverine was given to Deadpool. However, unlike
Wolverine, Deadpool s health regeneration is quick enough that he is quite literally immortal. In the
Marvel comic, Deadpool Kills the Marvel Universe #1 , Sue of the Fantastic Four uses her powers to
blow up Deadpool s head. As she turns away, Deadpool was able to regrow his head and stab her from
behind (Bunn). Also, in the Marvel comic, Deadpool: Suicide Kings , the Punisher is able to cut off
both of Deadpool s arms and even decapitate him. Right as Daredevil and Spider man jump in to stop
the Punisher, Deadpool was able to escape the scene regenerated of any injuries (Barbieri, Benson,
Crystal). Deadpool was able to regenerate all limbs and organs in a matter of seconds to save his life.
This nails the idea that Deadpool is in fact, immortal. Some of the most strategic heroes and villains of
the Marvel Universe have not been successful in killing Deadpool. Deathstroke, on the other hand, can
regenerate health, but it does not allow him to regrow limbs unlike the far superior capabilities of
Deadpool. As seen on the television show Arrow, Deathstroke was shot in the eye with Green Arrow s
Arrow. Later on in the seasons, Deathstroke never regrows that eye and uses an eye patch (CW). If
any serious injuries are inflicted on Deathstroke s limbs or organs, it could mean the end of his life.
One quick stab to the heart with Deadpool s sword would kill Deathstroke. This further concludes that
in a deathmatch involving Deadpool vs. Deathstroke, the one to survive would be

story. He is starstruck by the girls. Stokesie and him turn into pigs by the girl. They say Oh Daddy.
Stokesie said beside me. I feel so faint. Darling, I said. Hold me tight. (34) They both gawk at the girls

Company Uses For Reward Employees For Performance
Introduction Compensation refers to a wide array of benefits and pay that a company uses to reward
employees for performance. Strategic compensation refers to any type of compensation strategy that is
aimed at rewarding good performance. Because the variety of companies and their internal structure
varies wildly, compensation strategies can vary wildly. For example, many direct sales companies
where employees are actually independent contractors use strategic compensation strategies, giving
prizes for hitting certain sales goals and increasing compensation percentages with sales. On the other
end of the spectrum, large corporations almost always include stock options in higher level
compensation strategies, which directly ties the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Furthermore, it is important to keep in mind that what works in the United States may differ from
what works in other countries. While there is a largely global business environment, the regulations,
rules, and business norms that govern U.S. corporate structure may make some types of strategic
compensation more critical in the United States. For example, in most industrialized nations, the
availability of universal healthcare means that health insurance as part of an overall compensation
structure is not that important. Furthermore, different rules regarding maternity leave, family and
medical leave, and retirement savings can all make international models inapplicable to an American
setting without making some significant alterations to those strategies.
Knowledge Management Capacity Of course, strategic compensation does not exist in isolation in any
business environment. Instead, strategic compensation packages and idea are often indicative of a
greater attitude towards recognizing and rewarding employee innovation. As a result, it should come
as no surprise that companies that practice strategic human resources practices are more likely to have
greater knowledge management capacity (Chen Huang, 2009). Knowledge management capacity is
positively related to innovation performance (Chen Huang, 2009). Therefore, it is critical to examine
an entire corporate culture when looking at the relationship between employee performance and
strategic compensation

The Fritz Ranch is in Potter Valley, California. The ranch has been in the family since 1898. The land

years. The cow calf operation was set up in 1898 by Anthony J. Fritz with 2 cows and has been
expanding slowly over the years. The Fritz Ranch decided to start moving towards an organic cow calf
operation in 2005. This would allow them to reduce the number of cows on the ranch to take care of,
but increase the profit they made.
The Fritz Ranch runs an organic cow calf operation that runs on an 800 acre of their land (Harper et al,

This means the operation is selling to a niche market. The ranch can increase the price they sell at
compared to other cow calf operations. Since many consumers are not completely informed about the
differences between organic and conventionally raised beef, the demand for organically raised beef
has increase. Since the Fritz Ranch is a small cow calf operation, they mostly do business in the Potter
Valley area. Most their final product goes to the local retailers in the area. If the price of beef in the
United States increases or decreases, then this will affect the supply of beef of the Fritz Ranch. Global
changes in the in the beef industry will not affect the ranch that much, since most of their business is
local. Change of policies about organic cattle farms could have a significant impact on the profit of the
ranch. Depending on the changes made to organic compliance polices, the Fritz Ranch may profit or

SAS No. 1, which established the codification of auditing
standards and procedures, was issued in November 1972 and is currently still in effect. There are
120 Auditing Standard Statements that have been issued since 1972, in which many have been
superseded by new standards. As the auditing profession strives to confirm the accuracy and
credibility of entity financial statements, these standards are required to be updated as the US
economy is constantly changing and auditors are faced with different situations on a daily basis.
Attestation services are guided by The Statements on Standards for Attestation

reason for adopting these standards was to establish a general framework and reasonable

Procurator Misconduct
A male pointer crossbreed was found in a bin in Dundonald Street last April 15, Friday. He was so
malnourished and badly dehydrated that he had to be put down after being rescued by Scottish SPCA
officers.
When news about the dog s ordeal became public, there was a resounding demand for justice.
Following an investigation, the Scottish SPCA now has two women in custody, and are said to be
reported to the Procurator Fiscal.
The two females, according to inspector Clare Anderson, will be reported for alleged offences under
the Animal Health and Welfare (Scotland) Act 2006 . The violation is directly related to abandonment
and unnecessary suffering of a dog.
Under Scottish criminal law, a Procurator Fiscal acts on the authority of the Lord Advocate, which is
one of the two Law Officers who head up the Procurator Fiscal Service and the Crown Office in
Scotland. The Procurator Fiscal Deputes, on the other hand, acts on the behalf of the Procurator Fiscal.

Prosecution of more serious crimes are done in the Sheriff Court, and the most serious crimes in the

Essay on Annotated Bibliographies; Henri Fayol s Work...
Rodrigues, CA, 2001, Fayol s 14 principles of management then and now: a framework for managing
today s organizations effectively , Management Decision, vol. 31, no. 10, pp. 880 889.
Rodrigues discusses in some detail how Fayol s principles of management individually are/are not
used in modern management. He doesn t necessarily hold a contention or argument as he is ultimately
comparing and contrasting the world of management in US organisations from early 1900 s to now.
However the result of each of his discussions fall in the same favour each time, which may potentially
be viewed as a bias and further as a limitation of this journal. A further limitation of this article is that
it blurs the line between positive and normative ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Pryor, MS amp; Taneja, S 2010, Henry Fayol, practitioner and theoretician revered and reviled ,
Journal of Management History, vol. 16, no. 4, pp. 489 503.
The purpose of this paper by Pryor amp; Taneja (2010) is to illustrate through examining
contemporary management and management theories how Fayol s contribution of his principles and
model theory is relevant in management today.
This is done by a process of researching and examining the work of major academics (e.g. Mintzberg
(1989), Porter (1985), Taylor (1947), Kotter (1982), amp; Berdaves (2002)) Pryor and Taneja (2010)
compare the works and ideas of both Fayol and these authors to find the similarities and differences
between their theories.
A limitation of this article may be the large focus of similarities between studies, paying rare attention
to the differences between Fayol and the given management theorist. Future studies on this issue
should be undertaken in an argumentative manner, given equivalent attention to both aspects of the
argument. Indeed; this article supports the conclusions of similar studies (e.g. Rodrigues, 2001.
Archer, 1990. Fells, 2000) that Fayol s theory is relevant today, and that his 5 management functions
are evident in all organisations (Hales 1986). Another shared conclusion between journals is that Fayol
s work sets the foundations of management practise and theory today. Even though Mintzberg (1973)
argues differently, his theory tends to

  • 2. Virginia Woolf Death Of The Moth The Death of the Moth by Virginia Woolf explains the life of a moth that is centered around a role that represents life. The theme is the mystery of death and the correspondence of the life of the moth with the true nature of life. Death is a difficult subject for anyone to speak of but it part of life. The Death Process, the struggling and fighting against death. It is demonstrated that death was inevitable, humans tend to fight against death and anything in the way of the power will fail eventually. Moths are associated with death as a symbol. The character of the moth itself is a metaphorical reference and also the representation of Woolf s mental illnesses. The moth s battle with death can represent the struggle Woolf had with her illnesses, the ups and downs in her own personal battles. The acceptance of death relates to the suicide of Woolf, after many successes and failures, you can t always keep fighting. The moral is that regardless of what happens to someone, life goes on and the world does not stop turning. The word death is repeated many times in the last paragraph as it is trying to emphasize that nothing can win the battle against oncoming doom. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 3. Interpersonal Communication And The Self Throughout this semester in communications I have learned a lot about myself, how to deal with others, relationships, and more. There were some lessons that stood out to me the most, and that I thought about after class. The first was in chapter 3 about interpersonal communication and the self. During this chapter, we took a piece of paper and put four people that we knew down. We chose someone who we were just getting to know, and then others that we knew very well or that were very close to us. In this lesson, we were discussing the social penetration theory. The first step is the breadth which is a volunteered amount of information that we tell someone as subjects are being discussed. The second step is depth which is when we began to go deeper into personal information. The four people that I chose were a girl I had just met at work, my sister, my dad, and my boyfriend. After completing the circles and filling in the amount of information that I have covered with them, the girl I work with had the least, and my sister had the most filled in to the core. After completing this lesson, I looked at my paper and realized that almost everyone was more filled in to the core than my relationship with my father. This lesson struck a major cord with me because I never realized how surface level my relationship with my dad was until talking about this lesson. I knew that my father and I were not that close to begin with, but I never knew why. After this lesson, I understood that my ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. Is Inequality Natural Is Inequality Natural? During the Enlightenment era, a critical concept addressed by many prominent authors was the equality of humankind. In Enlightenment terms, inequality can be defined as the difference in qualities capable of demanding respect (Rousseau 1995: 425), such as strength or skill, as well as difference in civil rights and liberties of man. Both definitions will be used in this essay, as well as how they are related. In Jean Jacques Rousseau s Discourse on the Origin of Inequality, nature, or the natural state of man, is portrayed as man before the rise of any social order. This essay will analyze man in this natural state to determine that humans are naturally unequal, and it is only through submission to a social contract ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Declaration of the Rights of Man and the Citizen (DRMC) states that, Men are born and remain free and equal in rights (French Nat. Assembly 1995: 467). So, using this logic, yes, humans are equal and entitled to the same rights and freedom of every other human being. Yet in nature, there is nothing that necessarily protects those rights and freedoms. Who is going to stop a stronger, more powerful enemy from ignoring these rights and enslaving those weaker than himself? Thomas Paine answers this question in his essay entitled African Slavery in America. He declares that every man has a natural, perfect right to their freedom, and it is the job of the government to, set them free, and punish those who hold them in slavery (Paine 1995: 647). Furthermore, the DRMC states that The aim of every political association is the preservation of the natural and inalienable rights of man. It is the role of government to protect the rights of its citizens. Rousseau held that this social order is a sacred right which is the basis of all rights. He goes on to argue that this right is not of nature, and must be founded on conventions (Rousseau 1995: 431). The only rights that nature guarantees for someone are those that they can defend for themselves. Therefore, by nature, rights are unequal from one being to the next, just as talents, strengths, and abilities are unequal. However, a person s claim to a social order guarantees them a protection of rights and freedoms that they can gain in no other way. Of course, during the time of these writings there were oppressed members of society, that even though they did their part, did not receive these same protections. In America alone, African Americans, Native Americans, women, etc. all were excluded from the equal rights promised to white males. Despite forward ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Police Professionalism And Police Officers Essay In the early 1900 s police professionalism was formed. Until then there was much corruption and police departments were unprofessional. Influenced by police departments in Europe, America underwent a progressive reform in their police departments. The first step towards police professionalism was to replace police boards with chiefs of police. During the progressive era, August Vollmer, Police Chief of Berkley, established a department code of ethics which included officers not accepting gratuities and favors; any officer doing so would be subjected to penalties or a dismissal. During this time formal training through police academies was started in 1908. In 1916, we start to see policemen acquiring a college education. University of California, Berkley had a police training school set up by Vollmer. Presently Vollmer s standards of scientific policing, education, high standards and centralization of police services still influence police departments. President Johnson assembled a commission in 1965 to study rising crime rates and create strategies to combat crime. Riots were the main reason this commission came about. The report published in 1967, entitled The Challenge of Crime in a Free Society, contained over 200 recommendations concerning criminal justice reform (Roth, 2011). According to Roth (2011) police departments had become isolated from the communities. Chapter 4 of the report addresses issues dealing with the police. The commission recommended more police on ... • 7. Changing the Momentum of a Ball What is predicted to happen in this experiment is when an angle of elevation of a ramp is changed on one side this will affect the amount of momentum a ball possess before collision and after collision. The ball that travels down a ramp with a steeper angle, will have a greater velocity therefore produce more momentum because it has a greater velocity compared to the ball travelling down a ramp not as steep. This will then affect the amount of kinetic energy a ball possess after collision. The ball that is travelling down the ramp with a slightly higher angle, will possess more kinetic energy before collision but after collision it will posses less kinetic energy because of it being an elastic collision where energy is conserved and transfers some energy to the ball travelling down the less steep ramp with less momentum. Therefore the ball travelling down the ramp that is not as steep will possess more kinetic energy after collision. In the experiment the ball that travelled down the ramp with a less steep angle of elevation rebounded further than the ball that travelled down the ramp with a slightly higher angle of elevation. This occurred because the ball did not possess as much momentum as the ball travelling down the ramp with a higher angle of elevation. Momentum is the product of an objects mass and velocity. The reason why the ball travelling down the ramp with a higher of elevation had more momentum, causing the ball to not rebound as far, was because the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Ophelia In Hamlet Essay Polonius, Ophelia s father, embodies the theories the Other and a lack of female agency while discussing with Ophelia a similar case to her brother. In act 1 scene 3 of Hamlet, Polonius decides to inform Ophelia of the same matters that Laertes provides her. While Ophelia is departing from sending off her brother, Polonius asks Ophelia what her and her brother were discussing, resulting in her receiving unsolicited advice from her father on how to handle Hamlet s sexual and romantic advances. Polonius states, Tender yourself more dearly / Or ... / you ll tender me a fool. (1.3.107 109). What he is stating here is that if Ophelia does not respect herself and succumbs to Hamlet s lustful actions, Polonius will be painted as a fool. Similar to Laertes disccusion, Polonius s comment to Ophelia marks the notion that Ophelia cannot be respected if she operates in sexual endeavors. This idea represents Balizet s notion that women s sexuality is a patriarchal standard and also represents de Beauvoir s notion that a woman is not sexual unless with a man. However, there is a deeper standard that is portrayed by Polonius that is a necessity to address. In the quote provided above, Polonius discusses that his respect will be lost as well if Ophelia acts on lust because he is her father. This form of selfishness that is represented within Polonius s speech supports de Beauvoir s theory that women are thought of to be as the Other of men. There s been so much activity on school shooting that it doesn t come as a shock when one happens. As Obama said after the shooting at Umpqua Community College in Roseburg, Oregon, where a gunman went on a rampage and murdered at least 10 people, Somehow this has become a routine. All shooters have a motive and it has to do with their life at home, how they were treated at school, and how their mental health is. Initially, for a school shooter to become an enemy to society they have to be raised differently. For example, Adam Lanza, shooter who caused the horrible deaths of children at Sandy Hook elementary, was raised by a mom who lived in a rural area in New Hampshire where hunting and shooting guns was a regular activity there. Adam showed signs of interest to guns at an early age and his mom would buy him guns to start collecting at age 14. At this point in time he was diagnosed mentally ill and he started to be obsessed with violent fantasies. A main reason his mom would buy him guns is so that they can share an interest in something together and bond. While overt racism and prejudice may be diminished from the days of our dark past, covert racism is very much alive. Society loves to embellish on how far the country has come in the fight against racial prejudice by highlighting significant events such as having the first black president. Yet there are still too many instances of subtle racism. In 2011, there were almost 700,000 incidents of stop and frisk policing in New York. Nine out of ten of these incidents involved blacks or Hispanics, which is ridiculous because blacks make up less than a quarter of the New York Population (Bobo 2013). Prejudice causes unfair treatment to innocent people. Everyone should be treated the same and given the same amount of respect. Continuing the fight towards an unprejudiced world has so many benefits including making sure everyone feels safe and respected in society and the possibility to learn from other ethnic groups. As we hold a large investment in Southwest Airlines, I believe this merger with AirTran Air will not affect the strategy and culture of Southwest Airlines. Southwest Airlines strategy and culture has a history of being successful as well as creating large profits for the company and its stakeholders. With this said we should retain our investment in Southwest Airlines as the company has been consistently profitable for decades and has weathered hardships such as, the September 11 terrorist attacks, and the 2008 2009 recession. While making my decision to retain our investment in Southwest Airlines I analyzed Southwest Airlines performance in the U.S airline industry, as well as looked at Southwest s operations, strategy/culture. As she turns away, Deadpool was able to regrow his head and stab her from behind (Bunn). Some of the most strategic heroes and villains of the Marvel Universe have not been successful in killing Deadpool. Deathstroke, on the other hand, can regenerate health, but it does not allow him to regrow limbs unlike the far superior capabilities of Deadpool. As seen on the television show Arrow, Deathstroke was shot in the eye with Green Arrow s Arrow. Later on in the seasons, Deathstroke never regrows that eye and uses an eye patch (CW). While there is a largely global business environment, the regulations, rules, and business norms that govern U.S. corporate structure may make some types of strategic compensation more critical in the United States. For example, in most industrialized nations, the availability of universal healthcare means that health insurance as part of an overall compensation structure is not that important. The purpose of this paper by Pryor amp; Taneja (2010) is to illustrate through examining contemporary management and management theories how Fayol s contribution of his principles and model theory is relevant in management today. This is done by a process of researching and examining the work of major academics (e.g. Mintzberg (1989), Porter (1985), Taylor (1947), Kotter (1982), amp; Berdaves (2002)) Pryor and Taneja (2010) compare the works and ideas of both Fayol and these authors to find the similarities and differences between their theories. A limitation of this article may be the large focus of similarities between studies, paying rare attention to the differences between Fayol and the given management theorist. Future studies on this issue should be undertaken in an argumentative manner, given equivalent attention to both aspects of the argument. Indeed; this article supports the conclusions of similar studies (e.g. Rodrigues, 2001. Archer, 1990. Fells, 2000) that Fayol s theory is relevant today, and that his 5 management functions are evident in all organisations (Hales 1986).
