Women s Impact On Women
However, after 15 years, male lawyers were shown to earn 55 percent more than their female
counterparts. The study concluded that this massive pay discrepancy is due to women taking extensive
time off due to caring for children. Ultimately, what this study shows is that men who have children do
not earn any less because of it. Yet women who have children, who work in the same fields as these
men, do suffer. Research done in countries with paid maternity leave, and American companies who
offer paid leave, show that when women have access to paid maternity leave, a year later they work
more with higher earnings. Women who would like to work but do not have access to leave or
affordable childcare are tasked with an undue burden that prevents them from earning as much as their
male career equivalents. In the end, both genders are parents, but it is the consequences that women
face from motherhood that makes paid family benefits a gendered issue.
Due to these consequences pushed upon women for being biologically tasked with carrying children,
paid leave for mothers to create equal opportunity for both genders. This is especially for low income
women, as paid leave assures they are able to survive financially while having a child, as motherhood
is not a reason a woman should have to take on excess credit card debt. Additionally, paid leave is
important to all women, as careers should not be stopped in their tracks involuntarily due to
motherhood. Yet paid leave, which

What Was The Time Of The Renaissance
The Renaissance was a time of remembrance. In Science specifically, it was the order of the universe
that was brought up again and argued over. During the Renaissance, ideas from the past flourished.
Discussions and disagreements involving topics other than the Universe from ancient times were
encouraged greatly. The Roman Catholic Church, the power house of the decade had some dark
secrets that were close to being revealed by those in the science field. The church was set on
supporting old discoveries and theories, and they were not planning on changing their beliefs about
the universe. Because of The Catholic Church s hunger for power and absolute control of the people,
astronomers had a difficult time showing the world what was right from wrong. To begin, the Catholic
Church had absolute power ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Take the ancient Greeks, for example, between 700 B.C. 500 A.D. Greeks leaders did not care if
scientists disagreed with biblical cosmology (Miller 10). They encouraged the thought provoking
ideas that these scientists brought up. Ancient Babylonians were also free in their studies of the
universe (Crabtree). Crabtree added they had believed in a heliocentric solar system, or a solar system
where the sun is the center and all the other planets orbit it. They were able to believe in this theory
because they had not the restrictions of a power stricken church that forced biblical cosmology among
people. Biblical cosmology is the belief in a solar system where Earth is the center point, the sun and
other planets revolve it, and the Earth itself as a flat body (Crabtree). Miller claims some

Ireland In 1494
In its strenuous efforts to subject Ireland to English Rule, the English government strategized on how
to most effectively surrender the Irish people to its supreme governance. One of the most influential if
not destructive methods was the implementation of Poynings Law in 1494, which under its terms
maintained that all Irish Bills be submitted by the English chief governor in Ireland to the King and
Privy Council by way of the English Parliament. Only Bills that were subsequently approved and
returned to Ireland under the Great Seal of England could be presented to the Irish parliament. The
purpose of this bill followed a number of other direct changes to Ireland that stemmed from King
Henry II and King Henry VIII and their momentous wish to rescue Ireland from the decades of neglect
England had subjugated the state collectively to, up until the sixteenth century. The original purpose of
the passage of the law in 1494 had been to to curb the independence of Ireland s Anglo Norman chief
governors. However, it became most destructive because ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In this sense, it became a deliberate act of colonization. The Tudor Monarchy popularized new forms
of centralized government which sparked the first major opportunity for plantations in 1583. After the
failure of a rebellion led by the earl of Desmond, the forfeiture of his lands, and those of his followers,
put acres of fertile land in Munster at the disposal of the English government. Many peasants died of
famine in the disturbances, and by 1586 parcels of land were delegated for rent to English gentlemen
or undertakers. All tenants were to be English by birth according to law. Walter Raleigh became one of
these infamous landowners. However despite the efforts of the English to create farms in Munster they
were ultimately abandoned in 1595 because of a violent

Effects Of The Sakoku Policy On Japan
Sakoku was the policy introduced to Japan in medieval times. Sakoku translates to a country in chains
or the lock up of a country . This policy proclaimed that no foreigner or Japanese could enter or leave
the country, without the threat of death. The Tokugawa Shogunate, under Tokugawa Iemitsu, created
this policy as well as an array of other edicts and policies to prevent foreigners and Japanese alike
from entering or leaving Japan. These were established and put into action in 1633 1639 and remained
in effect until 1853 when Matthew Perry and the Americans forced the Japanese rulers to remove these
laws. However, these laws did not entirely isolate Japan, as some trade was allowed just under tight
control. The Shoguns of medieval Japan ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, there were some unforeseen adverse effects. These effects have influenced and affected
Japan as a nation and culture, enriching the culture and lifestyle that we associate with Japan today.
Japan s isolation allowed them to develop their culture without the influence of other countries or
religions. The economy of Japan also flourished during the Sakoku period. The long period of stability
and peace was central to the economic boom. Moreover, the Japanese culture became richer because
of the sakoku. Without foreign influence, they further developed their own unique culture. For
example, traditional rituals and customs. The Japanese politics were also affected by the sakoku; the
emperor continued to appoint the shoguns to keep his subjects in and foreigners out. These foreign
traders and Christians were not welcomed by authorities. This was because they were afraid they
would cause an uprise in the feudal system. On the other hand, this isolation had a negative effect
because overtaxing and the rice payment continued. Sakoku also adversely affected the environment;
the most noticeable impact was widespread deforestation. Without the ability to import wood, there
was not enough for every person in the country. With an ever growing need for natural products such
as wood, the land was

Cuisine Influence On American Culture
Cuisine is a traditional and increasing aspect to cultures all around the world today. Cultural food is
increasing world travel, bringing explorers to trek new parts of the world to discover and enrich in
new culture. Cuisine can be influenced by several factors, such as land/soil, climate, tools/technology,
religion, etc. The native food of a country can define an area as well as inspire others to preserve and
take on the styles/methods of cooking, increasing a global loop of passing on tradition and culture.

Escapism In The Amazing Adventures Of Kavalier And Clay
Michael Chabon s recurring theme in The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier Clay is the notion of
escapism. Samuel Clay and Joe Kavalier both faced situations in their lifetime that initiated and
warranted means of escape, whether figuratively or literally. In fact, these events have shaped them
into the characters that they later develop into. Joe Kavalier, trained under a master Ausbrecher to
become an escape artist, develops the ability to prevail and escape from dangerous circumstances. In
addition to that, he escapes from reality of the Nazis s expansion and ubiquitous presence in Europe
by using his fictional comic character, the Escapist, to battle the Nazis on paper. Other forms of escape
that Joe Kavalier faced was escaping from death. One instance, was his escape from drowning during
his early days under the tutelage of Bernard Kornblum. Kavalier had requested his brother, Thomas, to
assist him by pushing him into the water while Joe of the River Moldau. Thomas and Joe essentially
escaped death by not drowning and living to talk about it. In addition, perhaps Joe s most life

Love and Lust in the Lyrics (Shakespeare s Sonnets)
A sonnet is a poem of fourteen lines that rhyme in a particular pattern. William Shakespeare s sonnets
were the only non dramatic poetry that he wrote. Shakespeare used sonnets within some of his plays,
but his sonnets are best known as a series of one hundred and fifty four poems. The series of one
hundred and fifty four poems tell a story about a young aristocrat and a mysterious mistress. Many
people have analyzed and contemplated about the significance of these lovers . After analysis of the
content of both the young man sonnets and the dark lady sonnets , it is clear that the poet,
Shakespeare, has a great love for the young man and only lusts after his mistress.
In order to fully understand the depth of emotion that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
So the lover, the poet, treats the loved object, the young man, as he would himself. The loved object
serves as a substitute for some unattained ideal. In the case of the sonnets, the ideal is love. Being in
love allows the poet to have what he wants but could not acquire before and serves as a means of
satisfying his self love.
Joseph Pequigney, author of Such is My Love: A Study of Shakespeare s Sonnets, agrees with and
elaborates on Freud. He writes, All of these characteristics belong to the poet s love for the friend. It is
a love that pays handsome narcissistic dividends; it is advantageous also for the friend, who is praised
for personal qualities that would likely pass unnoticed were the poet not under the spell of his beauty.
Pequigney goes on to touch on the antithesis of the poet s love for the young man, his lust for his
mistress the dark lady . Because the mistress offers no self seeking advantages, she is disesteemed
with vice but never virtue ascribed to her (Pequigney 157). The poet attacks and questions her
physical attractiveness as the affair goes on and she arouses lust that comes and goes.
Sonnets 127 154 are addressed to the dark lady (hereafter the mistress). Shakespeare s relations to his
mistress vacillate; sometimes sanguine, tender, teasing, or bitterly anger; yet it is a simpler relation
than that

The Chevrolet Volt Adventure
The second chapter of the Chevrolet Volt adventure is about to begin. Fans of this hybrid electric
vehicle have been keeping a close eye on all things Volt, learning early on the new model has a lower
price and is more efficient than the first generation vehicle. This week, the EPA confirmed that the
2016 Chevrolet Volt provides a 53 mile electric range, leading to a nearly 40 percent longer range on a
single charge.
Range is the be all and end all of EV driving. Although the Volt has a 1.5 liter power generator to
provide fuel to run the electric motor when the battery is depleted, most buyers want prefer to rely on
low cost electricity only. Not only is electricity cheaper than gasoline, but when operating in EV mode

Planned right, a Volt owner could travel more than 1,000 miles before needing to stop at a fueling
station again provided that they regularly charge the vehicle.
Five model years after releasing the first generation Chevrolet Volt, GM is applying other changes that
will enhance the ownership experience.
Indeed, the new Volt will better utilize the electric motor when driving. In the first generation model,
the 111 kilowatt traction electric motor operated independently of the 55 kilowatt gasoline generator.
The new model allows the Voltec power system to use both motors concurrently under certain driving
circumstances. It also relies on a 75 kilowatt gasoline generator to deliver more power as needed.
Regular Grade Gasoline Okayed
Overall fuel efficiency is up too. The first generation Volt achieved 37 mpg. The second generation
model is EPA rated at 42 mpg. Where the first generation model required premium fuel, the all new
Volt takes regular grade gasoline. That alone will enable customers to save at least 10 percent at the

Pros And Cons Of Prince Hamlet
Would anybody that is truly insane ever actually claim to others that he or she is insane (or pretending
to be insane), as Prince Hamlet did to his trusted companions Horatio and Marcellus? Most likely not,
as such a person probably would not be able to realize the extent of his or her delusion on his or her
own, and therefore would stubbornly deny that he or she is in fact crazy. Furthermore, would any truly
mad individual ever, if given a relatively easy opportunity to take his or her revenge against someone
who had committed great wrongs against him or her (and therefore caused the individual to fall into
insanity in the first place), take the time to evaluate the pros and cons of taking revenge at that time as
Prince Hamlet did while his hated uncle Claudius (who had apparently killed Hamlet s father, the king
of Denmark, taken the Danish throne for himself, and even married Hamlet s mother Gertrude in the
process) was attempting to pray for forgiveness for his wicked deeds and ... Show more content on

Certainly not a truly insane person would have taken his or her revenge immediately on impulse (of
course, unless he or she had become so crazy that all of his or her memories or senses had been lost)
without even fully realizing the details of the situation. These examples, as well as Hamlet s
purposefully disheveled appearances before his former love Ophelia, his playful conversation with
Ophelia s father (and Claudius s adviser and lackey) Polonius, and his actions after his murder of
Polonius, seem to show that the madness displayed by Hamlet during several key parts of Williams
Shakespeare s famous tragic play Hamlet was not real, but feigned. Despite this, many common
readers (and audiences) of Shakespeare s Hamlet are still often left believing that the titular Prince
Hamlet s supposedly feigned antic disposition is actually genuine

Ethics, Morality, And Legality Of Hacking Essay
Addison Cryblskey
Mr. Bennett

Ethics, Morality, and Legality of Hacking
Ethics are defined as moral principles, as of an individual. Giving dropped money back to a blind man
is an example of good ethics. I believe in having a strong sense of ethics. Morality or morals can be
defined as of, relating to, or concerned with the principles or rules of right conduct or the distinction
between right and wrong. I believe having a good moral sense is crucial to participate in the world.
Without one, you can make a lot of people angry, or you could get fired from a job. Legality or the
laws which govern us are rules we are forced to live by. They keep us in line and stop us from doing
unjust things. I believe in laws. Without them people who don t have strong morals, or who are
unethical, would be able to damage society.
The difference between Ethics, Morals, and Laws is slim. Morals make up ethics. Legality takes
ethical practices and tells you things you can t do based on what most people think of as right and
wrong.
Computer hacking can be both ethical and unethical. Ethical hacking is when something is hacked
legally and helps better the community. For example operating systems are usually hacked by their
creators to see what the vulnerabilities are, and then they are fixed or patched. The most serious issue
in the computer world (and in the presidential race) is unethical hacking. Unethical hacking is when
someone steals data for their own gain,

Whether or Not Quotas for Job Applicant Selection Are a...
In this essay I will consider whether or not quotas for job applicant selection are a solution to racial
inequality in the United States of America. In considering this subject I will rely on In Defense of
Quotas by James Rachels who argues that the use of Quotas is justifiable in certain circumstances.
First I will qualify my use of the word race and clarify what I mean when I reference racial equality.
Then I will present an argument that quotas will not work as the sole solution to racial inequality.
After this I will support a premise for my main argument which is that not all of the races are
equivalently qualified for potentially equivalent jobs. After this I will consider a possible objection to
my argument which is that quotas ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Thus it seems that as Rachels presents them, quotas, although justifiable, most likely would not solve
the inequality of wealth between different groups of people unless groups are equally qualified for
jobs. If this is true, then, although quotas could do some good, they would not make our current
system drastically less biased towards the preference of peoples from majority races. It seems to be the
case that racial groups are not equally qualified for jobs, because further education is a major
qualification for a job and it is not currently the case that different racial groups are equally prepared
for further education after high school. According to a study by Rachel E. Durham and the Baltimore
Education Research Consortium The average person with a bachelor s degree earns almost twice as
much as a high school graduate and nearly triple that of someone who did not finish high school. The
unemployment rate for people with bachelor s degrees is about one third that for non high school
graduates and one half that of high school graduates (Durham). Therefore, it seems to be the case that
if someone is accepted into a college, can pay for college, and can pass all of their college classes,
then, in most cases, that person has, or will have a college degree and therefore a major qualification
for a job. This major qualification for a job can allow its recipient to have access higher paying jobs
and to have a lower rate of

How does the poet vividly convey ideas concerning the influence that nature has upon man?
Compare and Contrast at least two poets from cluster one giving detailed close analysis throughout.
(Comparison of Overlooking the River Stour by Thomas Hardy and Landscape by Michael Longley.)
Equally Overlooking the River Stour by Thomas Hardy and Landscape by Michael Longley portray to
the reader that nature can consume and influence mans behaviour. They also both highlight how easily
things can come and go through our lives unnoticed and insignificant, without realising its value until
it s lost.
Longley s use of simile is very effective when conveying to the reader the influence of nature upon
man. Using the simile Like a hillside ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The use of pathetic fallacy not only sets the mood but also allows the reader to appreciate how easily
the weather affect us as humans and cause a change in our moods. In contrast Longley uses the
structure of his poem to show how nature has occupied him; towards the end of the poem enjambment
is used to represent how his thoughts have been lost in nature And the otter s skidmarks melting into
the water this not only uses the enjambment to represent how broken and dismembered his thought are
but uses the metaphor to show how his thought are being washed as he is absorbed deeper and deeper
into nature and its complexity.
Longley s poem however uses several different techniques to show natures effect on man, the use of
sibilance within Landscape vividly conveys how nature can influence someone s thoughts. Within
stanza one Like skeins of sheep s wool: is a bulls horn silting depicts how before the poet was at peace
in nature all his complicated thoughts were tangled and intertwined, however now they are all started
to crumble into nothing. This technique is used to emphasise a point due to the use of intense sounds,
such as s which allows the reader to further think and articulate themselves around the point as the
techniques use makes the stanza far more predominant.
As a whole Longley s poem landscape has a far more rounded ending.

Group Therapy For Treatment Of Psychological Issues
Groups Reflection Peg Michaels Walden University Groups Reflection Through research, group
therapy has been proven to be as cost affective and therapeutically beneficial as individual therapy for
treatment of psychological issues (Corey, Corey Corey, 2010). For counselors to appropriately
facilitate many types of group therapy they need to develop certain skills. These skills can be learned
through cross training. Some counselors may find they only like to facilitate certain types of groups,
but they can overcome their personal discomfort by learning the strategies that are available to assist
them. This paper is about my group therapy conceptualization, world view, and the group process.
Conceptualization, process and dynamics Group counseling is facilitated by a therapist or counselor,
accommodating 5 to 15 clients, each attempting to achieve specific goals. Corey (et al., 2010) tells us
that counselors facilitate group movement through the use of different technique to engage group
participants. Counselors create a safe, judgement free place for participants to interact with each other
and the counselor. Members and the counselor provide others in the group support and guidance
during discussions. Though opening up in front of strangers may feel intimidating at first, it allows the
creation of the support network as well as a sounding board for members to express their thought and
feelings (Johnson, 2016). Facilitating the group process requires the counselor to

Should The Bush Administration Justified In Iraq
The 2003 Invasion of Iraq not only signalled the beginning of the Iraq War, but also demonstrated the
power and unchallenged military dominance of the United States. Unlike the first Gulf War, many of
the US public, media and officials criticized the Bush Administration s decision to invade Iraq by
questioning the legality and the evidence used to justify the war. These arguments as to whether the
Bush Administration was justified in its use of hard power to invade Iraq are diverse and disputed
among many historians. The opinions of several historians including Pollack, Mearsheimer and

Almost all the US public, media and government officials at the time held a common belief that Iraq
owned WMD. Kenneth Pollack (2004), PhD, a former CIA intelligence analyst and expert on Middle
East politics and military affairs, mentions the common belief that Saddam owned WMD when he
says that the American public and much of the rest of the world believed that after Saddam Hussein s
regime sank, a vast flotsam of weapons of mass destruction would bob to the surface (p.78). The US
government s common agreement that Hussein was holding WMD was significantly a result of high
priority intelligence reports such as the 2002 US National Intelligence Estimate (NIE) which claimed
to have held a 90% level of confidence that Saddam had weapons of mass destruction (Siilberman,
2015). The importance of these NIE reports is further supported by Kevin Whitelaw (2004), a
prominent American reporter for US News and World Report, when he says that due to the reports
substantial conclusiveness, the most pivotal document was the National Intelligence Estimate on Iraq s
weapons (p.24). Although, the belief that Saddam possessed WMD was not only held by the US
government analysts but also by many officials from the United Nations (UN). According to Pollack
nearly twenty former inspectors from the United Nations Special Commission (UNSCOM) did not
doubt that Iraq was operating a secret centrifugal plant (Pollack, 2004, p.82). Clearly, there was a
common belief before the 2003 invasion that Saddam was in possession of WMD. In fact, Greg
Theilman, who retired as acting director of the nonproliferation office in the State Department s
Intelligence and Research Bureau as the NIE was being drafted, believed that if someone voiced in
2002 that Iraq may have destroyed its WMD arsenal in the 1990 s

Reflection of Juduasm Essay
Judaism is a religious tradition with origins dating back nearly four thousand years, rooted in the
ancient region of Canaan, which is now known as the land between Israel and Palestine. Judaism did
not emerge until the 1st century C.E. Judaism traces its heritage to the covenant God made with
Abraham and his lineage that God would make them a sacred people and give them a holy land. The
primary characters of Israelite culture include the great patriarchs Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, and the
prophet Moses, who received God s law at Mt. Sinai. Judaism is a tradition grounded in the religious,
ethical, and social laws as they are articulated in the Torah. The Torah is known as the first first five

There are many different ways of practicing Judaism that are amongst us today, and many different
types of people that practice them. The traits and traditions that I find to be significant and interesting
in Judaism are Hanukkah, a Bar Mitzvah, and The Kashrut. There are many more traits and traditions
of Judaism that I favor, and there are many traits and traditions that I might question if I thought about

Similarities Between Living Up The Street And The House On...
DIscrimination Toward Gary and Esperanza Many Chicana men and women were unprivileged, being
forced to live life facing challenges with no escape because of their race. They searched for a never
ending way out. In the books, Living Up The Street, By Gary Soto, and The House On Mango Street,
By Sandra Cisneros, both authors relate to their life as a Latina/Latino incorporating their emotions
and some past experiences from their childhood. Both books follow the characters throughout their
lives, but more so in Living up the Street, By Gary Soto. This shows through the development of the
characters throughout the chapters/vignettes. Cisneros, the author of The House On Mango Street, and
Soto, the author of Living up the street both show discrimination. They show discrimination through
their poor neighborhoods, the name calling between the characters, and the jobs they were entitled to
make, which led them to making a lower profit than the whites throughout their lives. In The House
On Mango Street, By Sandra Cisneros, The author talks about her outdated and poor community in a

Impact Of The Space Race
RQ: How and to what extent did the Space Race have a impact on United States s defense
technologies?
On October 4th, 1957 the Soviet Union launched the first ever satellite, Sputnik. The launch of
Sputnik sent the United States into a frenzy, beginning the Space Race, and the innovation of
technology as a whole. The Space Race most importantly had a major impact on the evolution of the
United States s defense technologies through the launch of Sputnik. The Space Race sparked the
United States battle for technological superiority against the USSR, and lead to improvizations in their
satellite and satellite defense technologies.
From a United States and Soviet Union perspective that conveys that the Space Race had a minor
impact on the improvisation of United States defense technologies; the Space Race was in a way
responsible for the United State s production of new technology of missiles and defense against
intercontinental ballistic missiles. In the late 1950s the United States Air Force started a series of
advanced strategic missile projects under the Weapon System WS 199A called Martin s Bold Orion air
launched ballistic missile (ALBM). Similar to ICBMs the purpose of the ALBM was to destroy
satellites sent into orbit that posed a intellectual and physical threat to the US. The ALBM was created
due to the increasing pressure that the Soviets were to launch a satellite before the United States, and
since the United States would not know of the capabilities of this

How To Write An Essay On Oscar Hammerstein s Plays
In 1919, Hammerstein wrote his own play, called The Light, and his uncle produced it. Despite the
play s relative failure, Hammerstein forged ahead with his writing. In 1920, he collaborated with a
Columbia undergraduate named Richard Rodgers in writing a Varsity Show called Fly with Me. Not
long after, Hammerstein dropped out of grad school at Columbia to concentrate his efforts entirely on
musical theater.
Lorenz Hart was 7 years older than Richard Rodgers, who was only 16 when they began their musical
collaboration, with Rodgers acting as the composer and Hart as the lyricist. Manhattan was their 1925
breakthrough hit, and scores of other songs yielded many of today s standards, including Blue Moon,
My Funny Valentine, Isn t It Romantic? and Bewitched, Bothered and Bewildered. Together, Rodgers

After Hammerstein s death in 1960, Rodgers wrote the music and lyrics for No Strings, for which he

Case Study On Hummus
5 Things To Consider Before Purchasing Hummus
Hummus is a celebrated health food and for good reason! When prepared correctly, the satisfying
spread (or meal) contains fiber, minerals, protein, calcium, carbohydrates, and other benefits.
Traditional recipes call for soaked, dry chickpeas, tahini, garlic, lemon juice, and a little bit of olive
oil. Nothing beats a bowl of fresh homemade hummus, but we don t always have the time to prepare
the crowd pleasing dish in advance. While there are plenty of healthy alternatives like Hummustir not
all store bought brands deliver on the heart healthy promise. Before spending your cash on the dip, be
sure to look for these five things that prove not all hummus is created equal.

Processed foods contain extra amounts of sodium so the package stay fresh for a greater amount of
time, but if you re watching your sodium levels this could present an issue. Purchase recipes that have
less sodium (around 30 50 mg per serving) and forgo options that will cause your body to retain water
and make you feel bloated. Not all hummus is created equally, so spend some extra time looking into
exactly how much added sodium went into the mix. Your body will thank you.
Hidden Calories
Hummus can be relatively low calorie, like this 45 calorie option, or it can be full of unhealthy oils
that increase the calorie count tremendously. Stick to items that exclude added ingredients and focus
on picking products that have a shorter ingredients list, and use only healthy fats like tahini or olive oil
and fresh ingredients. There are dozens of hummus brands that boast about their healthy product, but
don t deliver on their promise. Do your research and know ahead of time which brands are the most
reliable and free of hidden calories, additives, and unnecessary ingredients.

The Simpsons on Television Essay
The Simpsons How does a television series keep going in this time of ever changing network
schedules and shows that grow stale after twelve weeks?
The Simpsons have not only lasted, but it has also become a staple of
American life. Many tribute this longevity to the witty and hilarious satire that is present in every
episode. By using incongruity, sarcasm, exaggeration, and other comedic techniques, The Simpsons
satirizes most aspects of ordinary life, from family, to TV, to religion, achieving the true essence of
satire.
Homer Simpson is the captivating and hilarious satire of today s quot;Everyman. quot;

I want to see you both fighting for your parents love quot;!
Because it is so exaggerated, Homer s quote is a very funny contradiction of
Marge s. Though many parents do cross the line in pushing their child to succeed, Homer overly
exaggerates it when he says, quot;I want to see you both fighting for your parent s love! quot; Marge
represents the quot;good quot; parent, as she so often does, and Homer becomes the extreme satire of
the quot;bad quot; parent.
He also says he doesn t want his kids going easy on each other because they re family. This is in direct
contrast of the quot;family first quot; mentality most parents try to instill in their children. Instead,
Homer wrongly puts winning ahead of anything else. There is a lot of incongruity in Homer s actions
as well because one does not expect a middle aged father to act so childish. With exaggerated
characters, the townspeople of Springfield satirize the stereotypes that the media so often depicts.
Police Chief Clancy Wiggum is the corrupt and unintelligent head of the police force. His physical
appearance alone is a satire of the stereotypical officer. He is very fat, always eating donuts and
assorted artery clogging foods, and his nose bares a striking resemblance to that of a pig. In an act of
comedy only possible in cartoons,
Wiggum s round, upturned nose with large nostrils is unlike anyone else s in
Springfield. Aside from his physical features, his questionable character

Examples Of Imperfection
Imperfection is not the opposite of perfection, as if it is a state not to be desired. Instead, imperfection
is the state of acceptance of self through love. Without seeing who you truly are, you won t know what
to change and what to keep. Perfectionism just throws everything out the window. Here are five ways
to truly be free by letting yourself live as you are.
I am Me
Accept me as I am is a battle cry. It doesn t mean that you won t change detrimental habits because
you are embracing who you are. It also doesn t mean that you are promoting laziness or lack of
ambition. What it does mean is that you have taken a look inside of yourself and seen who the person
inside truly is. There are things that you like about yourself and also things that you don t, but it all
works together to become the person that you are today.
True change in your life is an act of love. You can lose weight when you love who you are right now

Imperfection says that the only way through is with love on board. Accepting and embracing you by
celebrating why you are unique. It is getting reacquainted with yourself through a few steps that show
the value that was there all along.
5 Ways to Imperfect Freedom
Take some serious time for introspection Don t be afraid to look at yourself honestly. Write down what
is positive and what is negative in your eyes. Find ways to change the wording of those negatives so
they are now positives that you can embrace. If you think that your ankles are big, find shoes to wear
that minimize their appearance as such.
Discover what you like to do and don t like to do Don t be afraid to say no to events or activities that
don t foster your interests just because it s a cool or acceptable thing to do.
Try something new Try bold colors for clothing or change your hairstyle. There s nothing wrong with
experimenting with new looks to accentuate your positives and give yourself a confidence

combination of relational and object oriented databases. Traditional and advanced data types can be
used to construct database management systems. These systems can connect to a company s website
and update records as needed. Database Approach The main purpose of a database is data storage that
can be stored and retrieved when needed. A popular common language called structured query
language (SQL) is used to store and retrieve data in relational database. This language enables the
systems to run a report or modify data or remove the data from the database. A database management
system (DBMS) controls all aspects of a database, this is not limited to the creation, maintenance, and
use of database. The DBMS ensures proper applications are able to access the database. An important
purpose of a DBMS is to maintain the data definitions (data dictionary) for all the data elements in the
database. It also enforces data integrity and security measures. Data Models Data models provide a
contextual framework and graphical representation that aid in the definition of data elements. In a

Why Is Running On A Treadmill Speech
Good morning / afternoon
My speech will be done on Is running on a treadmill more effective then running on the road
Running in general is a full body exercise, no matter if it s on a treadmill or just running on open road.
It has been debated since treadmills came out if they are better than road running. I do believe that
running on a treadmill is not the same as running on the road. Yes they are both forms of exercises but
I do believe one is more effective than the other. So I m going to give you a full brief on why I think
so.
Treadmills are a training machine, normally found at the gym or in one s home. They have many parts
that make it operate. There is something called the belt, which is the moving surface you see and feel
when standing on a treadmill. This belt gives assistance to the runners leg turnover , there is also no

4th Period When you hear the term biome, you think of plants and animals in the same biodiversity. A
biome is a group of similar ecosystems that cover a broad area, and maintained under the climate
conditions of the region, especially such a community that has developed to climax. Biomes are often
defined by abiotic factors such as climate, relief, geology, soils, and vegetation. There are five major

The Synoptic Gospels Of Mark, Matthew And Luke
The Synoptic Gospels are the Gospels of Mark, Matthew and Luke. For this paper I will be focusing
on Matt 28:1 8; Mark 16:1 8; Luke 24:1 12. I first want to point out that there is a literary problem
with the Synoptic Gospels called the Synoptic Problem. The Synoptic Problem has two parts, who
wrote first?, and, who copied from who? To solve this problem I have used the two document
hypothesis, which is Matthew and Luke copied from Q (the source) and Mark. I used a synopsis of the
three Gospels mentioned earlier to help me; first, identify the major similarities, secondly identify the
five most significant differences between them. I will also discuss the reasons for the difference,
which will help to shape and understand the structure, portrait of Jesus and themes of the Gospels.

Well if Mark s account was the only account of Jesus resurrection then we would probably never
know. I say this because the women that the Angel told to tell the disciples and Peter that Jesus had
risen and is waiting for them in Galilee never told anyone (Mark 16:8). This obviously could not have
happen since Mark is writing about the resurrection of Jesus. Mark again is attempting to provide
hope, because even people who knew Jesus fail, and they knew him! In Matthew s Gospel the women
do as the Angel told them to do, and that was to tell the disciples that Jesus would meet them in
Galilee and they would see him there (Matt 28:7b 8). Luke s version is different and in a good way.
Luke states that after returning from the tomb they told all this to the eleven and to all the rest (Luke
24:9). This small part in the Gospel of Luke is the bridge between Judaism and Christianity because
Luke said not to tell just the disciples, but also, tell all the rest, which included the

The Canterbury Tales And The Pardoner s Tale
In the late 1300s Geoffrey Chaucer wrote The Canterbury Tales, a story which follows the religious
journey of twenty nine people, who represent many aspects of Medieval society, to the Canterbury
Cathedral in southeast England. While on the pilgrimage the host of the tavern, where all the pilgrims
meet, suggests that the pilgrims each tell a story for the group s entertainment. Chaucer intended for
all the voyagers to tell two stories, but he unfortunately died before he could finish the book and only
got to write one story apiece. However, the goal of the storytelling contest is to tell the most moral
story possible, and the one who wins receives a free meal, which the rest of the pilgrims will pay for.
Although some of the other stories have good moral messages, The Pardoner s Tale and The Wife of
Bath s Tale are on different ends of the moral spectrum. The Pardoner s Tale focuses on a pardoner
who preaches against greed. While The Wife of Bath s Tale exemplifies what all women want in their
relationships: power. Although both The Pardoner s Tale and The Wife of Bath s Tale demonstrate the
value of the opinion of elders, the stories differ in their moral values and their storyteller s values. In
The Pardoner s Tale a group of revelrous men seek revenge after Death kills their friend. While on the
hunt for Death, the men find an old man, who has found Death, but Death has not taken the man yet.

Background The Vice Chief of Staff of the Army approved the position for the 882A Mobility Warrant

Though Denmark was deprived of the two local primary resources which possess direct application in
Baltic warfare, the state possessed the ability, as a result of the direct regnal revenue obtained from the

This militaristic composition possessed the ubiquitous effects of a predominantly mercenary based

was not substantial enough to support themselves or their children. So in 1833, women held strike and
refused to work only worked if employers paid them wages equal that of to men. The results of the
protest was not what was hoped. Women were actually paid less after the strike, but the

Importance Of Purification Of Water Essay
Purification of Water to Save Humanity Thought water is the other name of life, more than billion
people around the world cannot drink clean water. Some of them used to walk for milieus just to fetch
water for themselves and their families. In some places where the supply of water is enough, it is
found most of the time the water is polluted with virus and bacteria which can form deadly diseases.
Not only in the undeveloped countries but also in developing countries water sources are polluted
sometimes. And there s another group that lacks access to abundant, safe, clean drinking water:
astronauts. As astronauts have to take things what they need and they have to reuse and recycle every
dewdrop of water. On the International Space Station, where U.S. Astronaut Scott Kelly recently spent
a year in orbit, specialized technology developed by NASA collects every bit of moisture, including
sweat and urine, and turns it into drinkable water Filtration is the only solution. As all filters are not
equal depending on the expenditure some of them can only drain out dirt and low level bacteria which
are harmful mostly for young children s as the water used to carry a dangerous virus. Luckily the
National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) scientists come forward with their best water
filtering technology. In 2000, Florida based Argon ide was working with nanomaterials and discovered
its Nanoceramic fibers had properties that made them excellent as water filters. The main benefit to
the nanofibers was their unusually strong bio adhesively meaning particles, including viruses and
bacteria, were easily attracted to the fibers. When water passed through a filter woven of the fibers,
these particles flocked to the fibers and got stuck there, leaving virus and bacteria free water on the
other side. NASA rewarded the company. The Nanoceramic fibers produce an electropositive charge
when water flows through them. Many impurities carry a slight negative charge and are absorbed by
the filter, explained Tom Smokoff, founder of Water Pure Technologies. Some filters were designed by
using membranes with small pores so

Tina Turner Inspiration
Physical strength in a woman that s what I am. Tina Turner once said this quote. With this quote she
showed that through all the struggles that she had been through, she was still able to sing and dance
happily. Tina Turner didn t start off with a great career for singing. She built her way up to fame using
her own techniques and with some help by Ike Turner. Tina Turner was an inspiration to others
because of her way and ability of gathering fame, her passion for the songs that she sang, and because
of the fact even if her childhood wasn t exactly the best, she still became a wonderful and strong
woman.
Tina Turner (Anna Mae Bullock) was an inspiration to other woman wanting to achieve their goals
because of her determination of singing and dancing fame. TIna Turner started out her singing career

Tina s original name is Anna Mae Bullock and was born on November 26, 1939 in Brownsville,
Tennessee (THE IKE AND TINA TURNER REVUE ). Tina and her sister were abandoned by their
parents at an early age and so they went on with their grandparents, who raised them (Tina Turner
Biography). This shows that Tina starts off badly and like any other star, she started off with not much.
TIna had moved to St. Louis and would go to the Club Manhattan and that is where her talent was
noticed by a drummer of Kings of Rhythm when she was singing along to their song while she was in
the audience (THE IKE AND TINA TURNER REVUE). She started off with singing duets with Ike
Turner, who was at the moment in the Kings of Rhythm, and then got recognized in the music
industry, but later on goes onto her own solo music career (Tina Turner Biography). While she did
start off badly, Tina was still able to make choices in order to move on to a better place. This shows
that Tina had the strength to go through tough problems and now she is a happy

Correlation Between Job Engagement, Education And Job...
Results
Correlations were performed (refer to appendix 1 and 2) and it was found that income and education
were significantly correlated as the countrywide data had a significance value of .003, r = .637, p .005
and the statewide data had a remarkable significance value of .000, r = .770, p .005. Despite these very
strong correlations, no significant results were found for any of the other variables and more
importantly that support the predicted relationship between job engagement, education and job
satisfaction. However, no relationship was predicted between income and job satisfaction so this
prediction is supported by the data.
To further investigate the relationship between the variables regressions were conducted (refer to ...

However, when job engagement was accounted for both the variables become more insignificant.
The graph of the worldwide data (refer to Figure 1) highlights that as job satisfaction increases, so to
does income roughly, however, the data does deviate from this pattern slightly for some of the
countries. Job engagement also appears to follow a similar pattern, with less satisfied countries having
less job engagement, however, as engagement increases there seems to be less variation between
countries. Education does not seem to have any strong effects displayed in the graph as the data falls
and rises throughout the graph.
The relationship between the variables is less pronounced for the US (refer to Figure 2) as there does
not seem to be a strong relationship between any of the variables. Income and education follow a
similar trend to the countrywide data, both slightly increasing with job satisfaction. Job engagement
surprisingly appears to be decreasing with satisfaction for the US data as the values get slightly lower.
Job engagement and education also appear to interact, eventually converging to a similar point.
Discussion
It was hypothesized that job engagement and education would significantly influence job satisfaction
and that income would have

Medical Forensics
Up until my senior year of high school I dreamed of becoming a Cardiovascular surgeon. I loved
learning about the human body, I like to help people and I thought it would be a good fit. I took many
pre med classes through school one of them being medical forensics, this class intrigued me. One of
the units in my medical forensic class was forensic psychology and I learned to love it more than any
other class I had taken thus far. Two of the deciding factors for me to become a forensic psychologist
was 1) I wouldn t have to spend a decade going to school to get a job, and 2) there isn t a lot of math
in psychology, but boy was I ever wrong! First of all, to get any job in the psychology workforce you
must at least have a masters degree, to make good money you must have doctorate. Second,
psychologists depend on statistics to organize data, describe data and use ... Show more content on

The U.S. Census is a great example. They can take the information given and provide a way to
summarize what already exists in a given population, such as how many men and women there are,
how many children there are, or how many people are currently employed. Often time psychologists
will use a map and label it according to where the linked crimes occur. Using this method they can
determine the radius of how far the unknown suspect (the person they are trying to catch) is willing to
travel to get their victims. The map can also help them predict if the area is important to the unknown
suspect, especially if the victims were found in a specific area. Forensic psychologists use inferential
statistics to test a hypothesis based on the information which is given. Using this kind of statistical
analysis they can determine the likelihood of the hypothesis to occur or not. The following statement
helps us understand how these psychologists get these

Analysis Of The Passing Of Grandison
The famous author Charles Chesnutt presents changes in characters to survive during the pre civil too
post civil war. One example is in The Passing of Grandison slaves would act uneducated to deceive
and gain their masters trust and then change and show their true personality. Many stories set in this
period represent how hard it is for change to happen within people or a community. Another example
is the The sheriff s children a small southern town known as Branson county is one of the most
conservative states in the union. The town is very simple almost primitive. One example of their
simplicity is they live off their farms. They would be considered poor but there is no upper class to
compare them to the county is so poor. In most ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When he describes a day of A steady stream of curious observers (34) this shows a sudden change in
the town s atmosphere. Chesnutt compares this to the usual town when only time that it is busy is
when farmers are trading or sailing crops. He wants to reveal how much it takes to get individuals that
are so set in their ways to change their daily routine. He does this by putting in a major event of death
to show how important it must be for them to come to town. Chesnutt also presents the word curious
to reveal his opinion that the town is in a state of immaturity. He does this to show that the town
demonstrates that the lives of many uneducated or uncivilized individuals become a primitive routine
instead of a life. Chesnutt reveals that individuals may not even realize that there is an opportunity for
change. Chesnutt stresses the images of the town s ideas will take a great force to change. The first
example is The Sheriff was conscientious: his conscience had merely been warped by his environment
(43). Chesnutt uses warped to illustrate to the reader bending or morphing into something new and
better. He chooses warped for a very specific reason to allow the reader to understand that if
something is warped it can always be refurbished. When metal is refurbished it is a heating and
cooling process of the metal and allowing it to be changed. Chesnutt allows the reader to understand
that the reference between heating process and how

The Possibility of Evil
The Possibility of Evil
Character Sketch Miss Adela Strangeworth
The greatest deception men suffer is from their own opinion. We all have opinions on things that are
not an actual reflection of the reality. We have opinions that are different than what is real. Miss Adela
Strangeworth is a 71 year old woman with blue eyes and pretty little dimples. She lives in an ancestral
house where her parents and grandparents lived. She often thought that the town belonged to her since
her grandfather built the first house on the Pleasant Street. She knew everyone in the town and was
highly respected. Also, she was very famous for her roses that were planted around her house, but she
never gave any of her roses away. Through her personal and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Miss Strangeworth expressed her personal thoughts to the townspeople by writing them personal
letters because she thought she was trying to eliminate the possibility of evil . She didn t think of
herself as an evil person because she thought it was meaningful and she was doing this to get rid of the
evil lurking in her town. She writes mean letters to Mrs. Foster, Mrs. Crane and Mrs. Harper to cause
worry and grief, and yet, she doesn t find anything wrong with it. She was unhappy with the way
people acted in her town. So, she decided to write them hurtful letters to reduce the possibility of evil.
She addressed a blue envelope to Mrs. Foster that talked about the possible complications that could
occur during her surgery. To Mrs. Crane, she talked about her child s disability Did you ever see an
idiot child before? and finally, to Mrs. Harper she writes about her husband s affair, Is the wife really
the last one to know? The truth about her real character is revealed in the end of the story when the
town people got rid of her roses and she still didn t recognize her mistakes, instead she blamed
everything on the town people. She began to cry silently at the wickedness of the world. Miss
Strangeworth thought that her punishment was completely unnecessary. She cherished her roses
because they were passed down from her ancestors which made her feel really proud. She felt no guilt
because she thought she fulfilled her duty by sending the letters. She doesn t

Human Papillomavirus ( Hpv ) Essay
According to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), we know that Human
papillomavirus (HPV) is a kind of severe sexually transmitted infection (STI) and it is so common that
the majority of sexually active people may infect HPV during their lives. The majority of HPV
infections cause no severe symptoms and can be resolved spontaneously in two years. But some of
them preserve and lead to premalignant condition or warts. The premalignant condition will increase
the danger of several kinds of cancers, such as the cervix cancer, vulva cancer, vagina cancer, mouth
cancer and throat cancer. According to the information from the CDC and WHO, HPV16 and HPV18
are two kinds of high risk HPVs, which may cause cervical cancer among women; HPV6 and HPV11
are considered to be the common causes of genital warts and respiratory papillomatosis.[2]
Introduction of HPV
A Brief Overview
Human papillomavirus (HPV) is a kind of DNA virus from the papillomavirus family. There are more
than 150 types of HPV discovered till now. Over 40 types of them are transmitted by sex and infect
the anus and genitals.[5] Early age of first sexual intercourse, poor immune function, smoking, and
multiple partners are all high risk factors for Continual HPV infections [2] The major routes of
transmission are continuous direct skin contact with anal sex or vaginal. Babies may get HPVs from
their mother during pregnancy sometimes. People can be infected with several types of HPV in their

Art Within Cave Dwellings Dating
One of the earliest evidences of the belief in a higher power comes from deep within the Lascaux
Labyrinth , a deep cave decorated by our Paleolithic ancestors in the stone age, seventeen thousand
years ago (Armstrong 2). The great numbers and locations of art within the Lascaux and surrounding
region gives evidence that these were sacred places for the purpose of rituals, and some have
compared these dwellings to temples (Armstrong 3). Whether art within cave dwellings dating back to
the Paleolithic era, to magnificent churches rising to great heights around the world, the wondrous
temples of the Mayans, a mountain that appears to seamlessly morph into the city of Machu Picchu, to
trailers, tents and fortified compounds, belief in a power higher than one s self has been deeply
ingrained throughout centuries and a multitude of cultures. These different places are what many refer
to as a church, a place to record and follow the rituals specific to their belief and to worship. Through
the generations of the development of the human psyche, belief in a higher power is taught young and
ingrained for many, yet meaningless for some. Furthermore, throughout the evolution of many
centuries, it is inevitable that branches of these religions will follow a different path, create new
churches to better practice their views of religion, and for some, belief in a higher power can be
contorted to the preaching s and worship of hate. There is a fine line between preaching scriptures and

Rail Tracks In The 1800s
construct the tracks in line with the Patapsco River until they reached the Airy Mountain. Therefore,
from this point, the tracks would then be built over the land for a particular distance before the
construction works descended into the Monocacy Valley6. Hence, as a result, this allowed for the
railroad to be extended reaching other regions over the consecutive years inbetween 1831 to 1853
when the tracks reached West Virginia. Therefore, in the early 1830 s, the Baltimore and Ohio
Railroad Company was granted the permission by the state of Maryland to also construct rail tracks
that would run from the city of Baltimore to the capital city of Washington D.C7. Nonetheless, this
section of the railroad would ultimately be conjoined with the

  • 2. Women s Impact On Women However, after 15 years, male lawyers were shown to earn 55 percent more than their female counterparts. The study concluded that this massive pay discrepancy is due to women taking extensive time off due to caring for children. Ultimately, what this study shows is that men who have children do not earn any less because of it. Yet women who have children, who work in the same fields as these men, do suffer. Research done in countries with paid maternity leave, and American companies who offer paid leave, show that when women have access to paid maternity leave, a year later they work more with higher earnings. Women who would like to work but do not have access to leave or affordable childcare are tasked with an undue burden that prevents them from earning as much as their male career equivalents. In the end, both genders are parents, but it is the consequences that women face from motherhood that makes paid family benefits a gendered issue. Due to these consequences pushed upon women for being biologically tasked with carrying children, paid leave for mothers to create equal opportunity for both genders. This is especially for low income women, as paid leave assures they are able to survive financially while having a child, as motherhood is not a reason a woman should have to take on excess credit card debt. Additionally, paid leave is important to all women, as careers should not be stopped in their tracks involuntarily due to motherhood. Yet paid leave, which ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. What Was The Time Of The Renaissance The Renaissance was a time of remembrance. In Science specifically, it was the order of the universe that was brought up again and argued over. During the Renaissance, ideas from the past flourished. Discussions and disagreements involving topics other than the Universe from ancient times were encouraged greatly. The Roman Catholic Church, the power house of the decade had some dark secrets that were close to being revealed by those in the science field. The church was set on supporting old discoveries and theories, and they were not planning on changing their beliefs about the universe. Because of The Catholic Church s hunger for power and absolute control of the people, astronomers had a difficult time showing the world what was right from wrong. Greeks leaders did not care if scientists disagreed with biblical cosmology (Miller 10). They encouraged the thought provoking ideas that these scientists brought up. Ancient Babylonians were also free in their studies of the universe (Crabtree). Crabtree added they had believed in a heliocentric solar system, or a solar system where the sun is the center and all the other planets orbit it. They were able to believe in this theory because they had not the restrictions of a power stricken church that forced biblical cosmology among people. Biblical cosmology is the belief in a solar system where Earth is the center point, the sun and other planets revolve it, and the Earth itself as a flat body (Crabtree). Miller claims some ... • 4. Ireland In 1494 In its strenuous efforts to subject Ireland to English Rule, the English government strategized on how to most effectively surrender the Irish people to its supreme governance. One of the most influential if not destructive methods was the implementation of Poynings Law in 1494, which under its terms maintained that all Irish Bills be submitted by the English chief governor in Ireland to the King and Privy Council by way of the English Parliament. Only Bills that were subsequently approved and returned to Ireland under the Great Seal of England could be presented to the Irish parliament. The purpose of this bill followed a number of other direct changes to Ireland that stemmed from King Henry II and King Henry VIII and their momentous wish to rescue Ireland from the decades of neglect England had subjugated the state collectively to, up until the sixteenth century. The original purpose of the passage of the law in 1494 had been to to curb the independence of Ireland s Anglo Norman chief governors. However, it became most destructive because ... The Tudor Monarchy popularized new forms of centralized government which sparked the first major opportunity for plantations in 1583. After the failure of a rebellion led by the earl of Desmond, the forfeiture of his lands, and those of his followers, put acres of fertile land in Munster at the disposal of the English government. Many peasants died of famine in the disturbances, and by 1586 parcels of land were delegated for rent to English gentlemen or undertakers. All tenants were to be English by birth according to law. • 5. Effects Of The Sakoku Policy On Japan Sakoku was the policy introduced to Japan in medieval times. Sakoku translates to a country in chains or the lock up of a country . This policy proclaimed that no foreigner or Japanese could enter or leave the country, without the threat of death. The Tokugawa Shogunate, under Tokugawa Iemitsu, created this policy as well as an array of other edicts and policies to prevent foreigners and Japanese alike from entering or leaving Japan. These were established and put into action in 1633 1639 and remained in effect until 1853 when Matthew Perry and the Americans forced the Japanese rulers to remove these laws. However, there were some unforeseen adverse effects. These effects have influenced and affected Japan as a nation and culture, enriching the culture and lifestyle that we associate with Japan today. Japan s isolation allowed them to develop their culture without the influence of other countries or religions. The economy of Japan also flourished during the Sakoku period. The long period of stability and peace was central to the economic boom. Moreover, the Japanese culture became richer because of the sakoku. Without foreign influence, they further developed their own unique culture. For example, traditional rituals and customs. The Japanese politics were also affected by the sakoku; the emperor continued to appoint the shoguns to keep his subjects in and foreigners out. These foreign traders and Christians were not welcomed by authorities. This was because they were afraid they would cause an uprise in the feudal system. On the other hand, this isolation had a negative effect because overtaxing and the rice payment continued. Sakoku also adversely affected the environment; the most noticeable impact was widespread deforestation. Without the ability to import wood, there was not enough for every person in the country. Samuel Clay and Joe Kavalier both faced situations in their lifetime that initiated and warranted means of escape, whether figuratively or literally. In fact, these events have shaped them into the characters that they later develop into. Joe Kavalier, trained under a master Ausbrecher to become an escape artist, develops the ability to prevail and escape from dangerous circumstances. In addition to that, he escapes from reality of the Nazis s expansion and ubiquitous presence in Europe by using his fictional comic character, the Escapist, to battle the Nazis on paper. • 8. Love and Lust in the Lyrics (Shakespeare s Sonnets) A sonnet is a poem of fourteen lines that rhyme in a particular pattern. William Shakespeare s sonnets were the only non dramatic poetry that he wrote. Shakespeare used sonnets within some of his plays, but his sonnets are best known as a series of one hundred and fifty four poems. The series of one hundred and fifty four poems tell a story about a young aristocrat and a mysterious mistress. Many people have analyzed and contemplated about the significance of these lovers . The loved object serves as a substitute for some unattained ideal. In the case of the sonnets, the ideal is love. Being in love allows the poet to have what he wants but could not acquire before and serves as a means of satisfying his self love. Joseph Pequigney, author of Such is My Love: A Study of Shakespeare s Sonnets, agrees with and elaborates on Freud. He writes, All of these characteristics belong to the poet s love for the friend. It is a love that pays handsome narcissistic dividends; it is advantageous also for the friend, who is praised for personal qualities that would likely pass unnoticed were the poet not under the spell of his beauty. Pequigney goes on to touch on the antithesis of the poet s love for the young man, his lust for his mistress the dark lady . Because the mistress offers no self seeking advantages, she is disesteemed with vice but never virtue ascribed to her (Pequigney 157). The poet attacks and questions her physical attractiveness as the affair goes on and she arouses lust that comes and goes. Sonnets 127 154 are addressed to the dark lady (hereafter the mistress). • 10. Pros And Cons Of Prince Hamlet Would anybody that is truly insane ever actually claim to others that he or she is insane (or pretending to be insane), as Prince Hamlet did to his trusted companions Horatio and Marcellus? Most likely not, as such a person probably would not be able to realize the extent of his or her delusion on his or her own, and therefore would stubbornly deny that he or she is in fact crazy. Furthermore, would any truly mad individual ever, if given a relatively easy opportunity to take his or her revenge against someone who had committed great wrongs against him or her (and therefore caused the individual to fall into insanity in the first place), take the time to evaluate the pros and cons of taking revenge at that time as Prince Hamlet did while his hated uncle Claudius (who had apparently killed Hamlet s father, the king of Denmark, taken the Danish throne for himself, and even married Hamlet s mother Gertrude in the process) was attempting to pray for forgiveness for his wicked deeds and ... • 11. Ethics, Morality, And Legality Of Hacking Essay Addison Cryblskey Mr. Bennett Net Admin 7 September 2016 Ethics, Morality, and Legality of Hacking Ethics are defined as moral principles, as of an individual. Giving dropped money back to a blind man is an example of good ethics. I believe in having a strong sense of ethics. Morality or morals can be defined as of, relating to, or concerned with the principles or rules of right conduct or the distinction between right and wrong. I believe having a good moral sense is crucial to participate in the world. Without one, you can make a lot of people angry, or you could get fired from a job. Legality or the laws which govern us are rules we are forced to live by. They keep us in line and stop us from doing unjust things. I believe in laws. Without them people who don t have strong morals, or who are unethical, would be able to damage society. The difference between Ethics, Morals, and Laws is slim. Morals make up ethics. Legality takes ethical practices and tells you things you can t do based on what most people think of as right and wrong. Computer hacking can be both ethical and unethical. Ethical hacking is when something is hacked legally and helps better the community. For example operating systems are usually hacked by their creators to see what the vulnerabilities are, and then they are fixed or patched. The most serious issue in the computer world (and in the presidential race) is unethical hacking. Unethical hacking is when someone steals data for their own gain, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 12. Whether or Not Quotas for Job Applicant Selection Are a... In this essay I will consider whether or not quotas for job applicant selection are a solution to racial inequality in the United States of America. In considering this subject I will rely on In Defense of Quotas by James Rachels who argues that the use of Quotas is justifiable in certain circumstances. First I will qualify my use of the word race and clarify what I mean when I reference racial equality. Then I will present an argument that quotas will not work as the sole solution to racial inequality. After this I will support a premise for my main argument which is that not all of the races are equivalently qualified for potentially equivalent jobs. After this I will consider a possible objection to my argument which is that quotas ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Thus it seems that as Rachels presents them, quotas, although justifiable, most likely would not solve the inequality of wealth between different groups of people unless groups are equally qualified for jobs. If this is true, then, although quotas could do some good, they would not make our current system drastically less biased towards the preference of peoples from majority races. It seems to be the case that racial groups are not equally qualified for jobs, because further education is a major qualification for a job and it is not currently the case that different racial groups are equally prepared for further education after high school. According to a study by Rachel E. Durham and the Baltimore Education Research Consortium The average person with a bachelor s degree earns almost twice as much as a high school graduate and nearly triple that of someone who did not finish high school. The unemployment rate for people with bachelor s degrees is about one third that for non high school graduates and one half that of high school graduates (Durham). Therefore, it seems to be the case that if someone is accepted into a college, can pay for college, and can pass all of their college classes, then, in most cases, that person has, or will have a college degree and therefore a major qualification for a job. This major qualification for a job can allow its recipient to have access higher paying jobs and to have a lower rate of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Compare and Contrast at least two poets from cluster one giving detailed close analysis throughout. (Comparison of Overlooking the River Stour by Thomas Hardy and Landscape by Michael Longley.) Equally Overlooking the River Stour by Thomas Hardy and Landscape by Michael Longley portray to the reader that nature can consume and influence mans behaviour. Integrated Strategy Loblaw s is one of the most successful companies in the grocery retail industry in Canada, in order for Loblaw s to penetrate a global market they must identify, plan and execute a strategy. Loblaw s needs to identify new market potential internationally which in turn increase profit and gross margins, in order to continue expanding. • 15. Group Therapy For Treatment Of Psychological Issues Groups Reflection Peg Michaels Walden University Groups Reflection Through research, group therapy has been proven to be as cost affective and therapeutically beneficial as individual therapy for treatment of psychological issues (Corey, Corey Corey, 2010). For counselors to appropriately facilitate many types of group therapy they need to develop certain skills. These skills can be learned through cross training. Some counselors may find they only like to facilitate certain types of groups, but they can overcome their personal discomfort by learning the strategies that are available to assist them. This paper is about my group therapy conceptualization, world view, and the group process. Conceptualization, process and dynamics Group counseling is facilitated by a therapist or counselor, accommodating 5 to 15 clients, each attempting to achieve specific goals. Corey (et al., 2010) tells us that counselors facilitate group movement through the use of different technique to engage group participants. Counselors create a safe, judgement free place for participants to interact with each other and the counselor. Members and the counselor provide others in the group support and guidance during discussions. Though opening up in front of strangers may feel intimidating at first, it allows the creation of the support network as well as a sounding board for members to express their thought and feelings (Johnson, 2016). Should The Bush Administration Justified In Iraq The 2003 Invasion of Iraq not only signalled the beginning of the Iraq War, but also demonstrated the power and unchallenged military dominance of the United States. Unlike the first Gulf War, many of the US public, media and officials criticized the Bush Administration s decision to invade Iraq by questioning the legality and the evidence used to justify the war. These arguments as to whether the Bush Administration was justified in its use of hard power to invade Iraq are diverse and disputed among many historians. Almost all the US public, media and government officials at the time held a common belief that Iraq owned WMD. Kenneth Pollack (2004), PhD, a former CIA intelligence analyst and expert on Middle East politics and military affairs, mentions the common belief that Saddam owned WMD when he says that the American public and much of the rest of the world believed that after Saddam Hussein s regime sank, a vast flotsam of weapons of mass destruction would bob to the surface (p.78). The US government s common agreement that Hussein was holding WMD was significantly a result of high priority intelligence reports such as the 2002 US National Intelligence Estimate (NIE) which claimed to have held a 90% level of confidence that Saddam had weapons of mass destruction (Siilberman, 2015). The importance of these NIE reports is further supported by Kevin Whitelaw (2004), a prominent American reporter for US News and World Report, when he says that due to the reports substantial conclusiveness, the most pivotal document was the National Intelligence Estimate on Iraq s weapons (p.24). Although, the belief that Saddam possessed WMD was not only held by the US government analysts but also by many officials from the United Nations (UN). According to Pollack nearly twenty former inspectors from the United Nations Special Commission (UNSCOM) did not doubt that Iraq was operating a secret centrifugal plant (Pollack, 2004, p.82). Clearly, there was a common belief before the 2003 invasion that Saddam was in possession of WMD. In fact, Greg Theilman, who retired as acting director of the nonproliferation office in the State Department s Intelligence and Research Bureau as the NIE was being drafted, believed that if someone voiced in 2002 that Iraq may have destroyed its WMD arsenal in the 1990 s ... • 35. The Synoptic Gospels Of Mark, Matthew And Luke The Synoptic Gospels are the Gospels of Mark, Matthew and Luke. For this paper I will be focusing on Matt 28:1 8; Mark 16:1 8; Luke 24:1 12. I first want to point out that there is a literary problem with the Synoptic Gospels called the Synoptic Problem. The Synoptic Problem has two parts, who wrote first?, and, who copied from who? To solve this problem I have used the two document hypothesis, which is Matthew and Luke copied from Q (the source) and Mark. I used a synopsis of the three Gospels mentioned earlier to help me; first, identify the major similarities, secondly identify the five most significant differences between them. I will also discuss the reasons for the difference, which will help to shape and understand the structure, portrait of Jesus and themes of the Gospels. Similarities between the Gospels The Gospels of Matt 28:1 8; Mark 16:1 8; Luke 24:1 12 are all giving an account of Jesus resurrection. All three Gospels ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Well if Mark s account was the only account of Jesus resurrection then we would probably never know. I say this because the women that the Angel told to tell the disciples and Peter that Jesus had risen and is waiting for them in Galilee never told anyone (Mark 16:8). This obviously could not have happen since Mark is writing about the resurrection of Jesus. Mark again is attempting to provide hope, because even people who knew Jesus fail, and they knew him! In Matthew s Gospel the women do as the Angel told them to do, and that was to tell the disciples that Jesus would meet them in Galilee and they would see him there (Matt 28:7b 8). Luke s version is different and in a good way. Luke states that after returning from the tomb they told all this to the eleven and to all the rest (Luke 24:9). This small part in the Gospel of Luke is the bridge between Judaism and Christianity because Luke said not to tell just the disciples, but also, tell all the rest, which included the ... • 36. The Canterbury Tales And The Pardoner s Tale In the late 1300s Geoffrey Chaucer wrote The Canterbury Tales, a story which follows the religious journey of twenty nine people, who represent many aspects of Medieval society, to the Canterbury Cathedral in southeast England. While on the pilgrimage the host of the tavern, where all the pilgrims meet, suggests that the pilgrims each tell a story for the group s entertainment. Chaucer intended for all the voyagers to tell two stories, but he unfortunately died before he could finish the book and only got to write one story apiece. However, the goal of the storytelling contest is to tell the most moral story possible, and the one who wins receives a free meal, which the rest of the pilgrims will pay for. Although some of the other stories have good moral messages, The Pardoner s Tale and The Wife of Bath s Tale are on different ends of the moral spectrum. The Pardoner s Tale focuses on a pardoner who preaches against greed. While The Wife of Bath s Tale exemplifies what all women want in their relationships: power. Although both The Pardoner s Tale and The Wife of Bath s Tale demonstrate the value of the opinion of elders, the stories differ in their moral values and their storyteller s values. In The Pardoner s Tale a group of revelrous men seek revenge after Death kills their friend. While on the hunt for Death, the men find an old man, who has found Death, but Death has not taken the man yet. The three brutes ask the man where to find Death, and he sends ... His original vision for the MWO was to embed them in the 10 active Divisions and the two interim brigade combat teams (IBCTs) at that time. Their initial success in these roles and increased world deployments led to a demand for these deployment experts at every level of command. MWOs where soon assigned to the 10 divisions, 2 SBCTs, 8 transportation movement control battalions (MCB), and 2 transportation groups (Lieutenant Colonel Peter B. Everitt, 2016). According to a recent report pulled from FMS Web, there are currently 173 authorized MWO positions in the US Army. (USAFMSA, 2016) These assignments range from the Movement Control Battalion (MCB) level to the regional and strategic command levels. BCT modularity and increased deployments over the past 15 years has validated the need for mobility experts at every level of command. • 40. Importance Of Purification Of Water Essay Purification of Water to Save Humanity Thought water is the other name of life, more than billion people around the world cannot drink clean water. Some of them used to walk for milieus just to fetch water for themselves and their families. In some places where the supply of water is enough, it is found most of the time the water is polluted with virus and bacteria which can form deadly diseases. Not only in the undeveloped countries but also in developing countries water sources are polluted sometimes. And there s another group that lacks access to abundant, safe, clean drinking water: astronauts. As astronauts have to take things what they need and they have to reuse and recycle every dewdrop of water. On the International Space Station, where U.S. Astronaut Scott Kelly recently spent a year in orbit, specialized technology developed by NASA collects every bit of moisture, including sweat and urine, and turns it into drinkable water Filtration is the only solution. As all filters are not equal depending on the expenditure some of them can only drain out dirt and low level bacteria which are harmful mostly for young children s as the water used to carry a dangerous virus. Luckily the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) scientists come forward with their best water filtering technology. In 2000, Florida based Argon ide was working with nanomaterials and discovered its Nanoceramic fibers had properties that made them excellent as water filters. The main benefit to the nanofibers was their unusually strong bio adhesively meaning particles, including viruses and bacteria, were easily attracted to the fibers. When water passed through a filter woven of the fibers, these particles flocked to the fibers and got stuck there, leaving virus and bacteria free water on the other side. NASA rewarded the company. The Nanoceramic fibers produce an electropositive charge when water flows through them. Many impurities carry a slight negative charge and are absorbed by the filter, explained Tom Smokoff, founder of Water Pure Technologies. Some filters were designed by using membranes with small pores so ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Art Within Cave Dwellings Dating One of the earliest evidences of the belief in a higher power comes from deep within the Lascaux Labyrinth , a deep cave decorated by our Paleolithic ancestors in the stone age, seventeen thousand years ago (Armstrong 2). The great numbers and locations of art within the Lascaux and surrounding region gives evidence that these were sacred places for the purpose of rituals, and some have compared these dwellings to temples (Armstrong 3). Whether art within cave dwellings dating back to the Paleolithic era, to magnificent churches rising to great heights around the world, the wondrous temples of the Mayans, a mountain that appears to seamlessly morph into the city of Machu Picchu, to trailers, tents and fortified compounds, belief in a power higher than one s self has been deeply ingrained throughout centuries and a multitude of cultures.
