Hernan Cortes Letter
Hernan Cortes, the Spanish Conquistador (1482 1547) wrote his letter in 1502 when he discovered
The great city of Temixtitlan (Mexico) and Christopher Columbus (1451 1506) the Italian explorer
who completed four voyages across the Atlantic ocean, wrote his letter in 1493 when exploring for
five months through Juana (Cuba) and Hispaniola (Santo Domingo). The first letter was from
Christopher Columbus, the way he spoke about the island Juana made whoever read that letter
visualize it. He spoke on how the land was fertile, how a lot of different things could happen in that
island, trying to sell that island to make the person reading it again, visualize it and in my opinion see
them there. Columbus spoke with such delight and such love of

Next Year Research Paper
Well, well, well. Where do I even start?
Grades I guess overall, I had a pretty good year, in terms of academics. I ve kept all As throughout the
whole year, which in nice. I even got a perfect attendance award one time, (2nd Nine Weeks) which is
shocking, because I get sick really easily, and i m pretty sure I was absent. Hey, i m in no position to
complain. School is a relatively easy thing for me, grades, teachers, etc. Personally, I really enjoy
school. It s something i m good at, and something that I can understand easily. My only problem is
being surrounded by idiots who think they are entitled to more than the average student.
Trips The school field trips are nice, even more so because of how small we are. I d have to say my
favorite was(or will be) Butler springs. It s a fun place to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The only one I had trouble with was being memorable. It started with keeping a calendar to having
sticky notes everywhere. It s a mess, but it works. And hey, my goal wasn t to be more organized.
Next Year s Goals My goals for next year are simple: Get in shape, join ROTC, and make new friends
at my new school. I ll be changing schools because Master Sergeant is moving his jib to McLain, and
my mom is dating him so it s only natural i d go. The only goal i d have problems with would be
making new friends, because by now everyone has their own clicks and circles.
Conclusion In conclusion, my year was pretty good. I had fun on a few trips, I made excellent grades,
and I sorted out some issues I had at home. I had a lot of great moments that meant a lot to me, like
getting my dog and being with my friends and very few bad moments. I will be changing schools once
this custody thing is sorted out, and hopefully make new friends and enjoy the school. In short, I had a
pretty good year. That s

Asian-American Stereotypes
Asian culture has been slandered throughout America s history by the term Model Minority , and
through it s toxic ideals has lead to outstanding rates of depression, and the inhumane backlash has
proven fatal to the Asian American population. The term Model Minority was coined to categorize
Asian Americans in 1966, during the United States civil liberties movement. During this time period
white politicians were in a state of agitation because African Americans were demanding their civil
rights(Chin). The stereotype associated with the term model minority is a suffocating archetype that
has been pushed onto Asian Americans; this degrading term has a harsh history that has led to heinous
social pressures and implications, along with detrimental ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although they came from similar backgrounds one factor to keep in consideration is the fact that
Stephanie grew up in the 80 s, while Katherine is still a student. Stephanie Johnson said that her
family was fairly lenient, and they did not push her to extremes. However Katherine s experience was
rather different, Katherine is currently attending an unnamed high school and is in an AICE program,
along with actively participating in six choirs, and taking business classes. The stress is overwhelming
her and the pressure that her parents placed on her has led to a lack of sleep, but outstanding

other cultures and it s morally wrong for parents to assume their child

Progressive Personality Changes In Macbeth
The Progressive Personality Changes of Macbeth
Shakespeare s character Macbeth, exhibits a personality that gradually progresses from good to bad
and from bad to worse. In Act 1 of Macbeth by William Shakespeare, the soon to be Lord of Cawdor,
exhibits qualities expected of a noble warrior who is loyal to his king. Through the manipulations and
badgering of Lady Macbeth, Macbeth s good qualities begin to disappear and his evil ones emerge.
The comparison between Act 1 and Act 5 unveils Macbeth s ambitions and greed for power as being
congruent with the decline of his few good personality qualities, such as bravery and loyalty. At the
start of the play and before the visit by the witches, characteristics, such as bravery and kindness,

The Death Of A Railway Section Man Essay
When William married 17 year old Orrville native Margaret on October 15, 1917, he was like his dad
a railway section man in Falding. Indeed, 3 out of the 5 boys Milo and Eliza had would at some time
work for CNR. Clearly dad was useful in getting employment for his sons. After marriage the couple
resided in Gordon Bay on Lake Joseph. There they fell so ill of the Spanish Flu that sister Ethel had to
temporarily take up residence with them in Mid June of 1919 to see them through. As William gained
experience he moved down the line to Washago as a RR foreman. The son now lived in the first place
his father worked in Ontario back in 1881.
Tragedy befell the childless couple when they went on a 19th June 1927 trip, Margaret fell from [an]
auto fatally injuring her brain. A haemorrhage killed her 5 days later after Toronto General tried in
vain to save her. Her bereaved parents, who had moved to Richmond Hill from Orrville to deal
directly with the sad details. As for William, less than a year later he married a woman Alice Maria
Davy from Beaverton a town just south of Washago and where William s sister Edith had been living
for 12 years as Mrs. Morrison. The marriage occurred on May 5, 1928 in Beaverton and they
continued to live in Washago through WWII. William dabbled on the side, for a time, in selling dry
goods. By that time William was promoted to road master and soon after the war the couple moved to
Gravenhurst for the rest of their lives. They had 2 girls.

Compare And Contrast Inca And Aztec Civilization
The Incan and Aztec civilization were powerful and wealthy tribes. They survived and thrived in
various regions in South America. Resources were abundant and several crucial aspects that helped
sustain both indigenous tribes were religion, government and social systems, economics, and their
geography. Nevertheless, these vital aspects were also significant in their catastrophic downfall during
their encounters with Cortés and Pizarro. Once ruthless conquistadors and explorers like Hernán
Cortés and Francisco Pizarro arrived, the Native American tribes could not stand a chance. After all,
both Spanish explorers were better equipped with weapons and defense. For example, they had
supplies like powerful cannons, muskets, heavy duty armor, as well as brawny horses. On the other
hand, the savage Incas and Aztecs, though strong and mighty in warfare, only had spears, arrowheads
(usually dipped in poison), natural resources used in the creation weaponry ... Show more content on

In an unsuccessful and desperate attempt by Moctezuma to make Cortés and his army leave, he tried
to bribe the determined Spanish explorer with gold. Instead of complying, Cortés captured Moctezuma
and claimed Mexico for Spain. Years later after being forced out by the Aztecs, Cortés returned,
demolished Tenochtitlán, and built Mexico City. In efforts to acquire more land, become wealthy by
retrieving gold, and forcefully converting others to Catholicism, Francisco Pizarro imitated Cortés s
technique to vanquish and dominate the Incas, which resided in Peru in 1531. He captured Atahualpa,
(the ruler at that time) in 1532, and made the Incas pay an extremely expensive ransom a year later.
Nevertheless, Atahualpa was executed. Pizarro was then able to successfully defeat the Incas in
1533.He then took Cuzco, the capital

Destruction of the American Dream in Arthur Miller s...
Destruction of the American Dream in Arthur Miller s Death of A Salesman
A white picket fence surrounds the tangible icons of the American Dreams in the middle 1900 s: a
mortgage, an automobile, a kitchen appliance paid for on the monthly installment plan, and a silver
trophy representative of high school football triumph. A pathetic tale examining the consequences of
man s harmartias, Arthur Miller s Death of A Salesman satisfies many, but not all, of the essential
elements of a tragedy. Reality peels away the thin layers of Willy Loman s American Dream; a dream
built on a lifetime of poor choices and false values.
Although the characters are not of noble birth nor possess a heroic nature nor experience a reversal of

For Biff, the idea of success is an easy loan from an ex employer he has stolen from; for Hap, success
is obtaining a promotion by waiting for the merchandise manager to die. Inevitably, the Loman s
unrealistic idea about success is one of the steps in their downfall.
Equally as damaging, the Loman family lacks the ability to make the necessary and suitable choices to
pursue the American Dream. Although Willy is skillful with his hands and believes a man who can t
handle tools is disgusting, he chooses a lifetime career as a salesman, based on the fanciful image of
his father who abandoned Willy as a child and on the image of an 84 year old salesman who dies alone
in a train car to Boston. Willy takes pride in the craftsmanship he put into their house, yet believes a
salesman such as his father is better than a carpenter. Furthermore, he questions the purpose of
building because some stranger ll come along, move in, and that s that. Ironically, Willy is a better
carpenter than a salesman. He boasts on what an impact he makes on his clients, but in reality one of
the reasons he has a sexual rendezvous with a secretary is to get through to the buyers. Willy makes
another poor choice because of his hubris, or false pride, when he turns down Charley s job offer.
Similarly, false pride and the inability to make appropriate choices lead to Hap and Biff choosing
unsuitable occupations.

Symbolism In Ernest Hemingway s A Farewell To Arms
World War I began with the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria. Ernest Hemingway
s novel, A Farewell to Arms, follows the life of the Italian Speaking, American Frederic Henry as he
joins the war on behalf of the Italians, is injured by a bombshell, and flees after his recovery. In his
most popular novel, A Farewell to Arms, Hemingway utilizes the motif of whorehouses, sporadic
syntax during Henry s rampant drunkenness, and understatement when Henry encounters death to
illustrate how war morally decays the ordinary man.
Throughout A Farewell to Arms, Hemingway exemplifies the purpose of whorehouses as a distraction
for the soldiers and the role of women in times of war. In the beginning, the motif of whorehouses is ...

By implementing a confusing syntax during Henry s inebriated state, Hemingway reveals how the war
affects the morality of Henry s mind. After his hospitalization from an explosion, Henry s friends
bring him alcohol as a get well present. Henry has a drink and argues about Rome with Rinaldi in his
drunken state: Roma is feminine, said Rinaldi. It cannot be the father. Who is the father, then, the Holy
Ghost? Don t blas pheme. I wasn t blaspheming, I was asking for information. You are drunk, baby.
Who made me drunk? I made you drunk because I love you and because America is in the war.
(Hemingway 71)
Through this ambiguous sentence structure, it is difficult to tell who says, comments, or argues with
who. By utilizing this perplexing syntax Hemingway shows how being drunk affects Henry s state of
mind. Henry is unable to tell right from wrong, or if the comment made is actually blasphemy or not.
Henry s mindstate is altered, as evident by Hemingway s use of muddled syntax, as a result of the
alcohol; in addition, Henry only got drunk because he was given alcohol after his injuries in the war.
Thus, the war morally decayed Henry s mind through alcohol to the point of not being able to discern
right from wrong. The war not only numbs Henry emotionally through alcohol but also through his
encounters with death. Hemingway s use of understatement when Henry encounters death reveals how
the war progressively deteriorated

Benefits Of The Clean Water Rule
The Clean Water Rule
The United States government should uphold the Clean Water Rule for several reasons. Keeping the
Clean Water rule ensures that the environment is protected which will help in many other aspects such
as protecting drinking water and maintaining the outdoor portion of the economy. The economy needs
clean water to sustain itself. If the Clean Water Rule were dropped, then there would be a decrease in
the clean water available across the nation. Clean water doesn t just affect what we are able to drink
but affects other industries as well such as agriculture, manufacturing and energy production. People
need clean drinking water. Without clean water human health will drop significantly resulting in many
health problems. Most Americans get their clean water from areas protected by the Clean Water Rule.
Getting rid of it would lead to pollution of those waters leading to these problems. Clean water is not
only a very important thing for humans but for farms and livestock as well. Farmers need clean water
to properly nourish their crops and to keep their livestock healthy. Without clean water, the crop
production yield would not be as high and would lead to poor crops. Livestock require clean water to
remain healthy and stay well nourished. Getting rid of the Clean Water Rule would lead to the
destruction of the United States in a variety of ways. The United States needs the Clean water rule to
maintain its current status in many departments, from the

Lord Byron And William Shakespeare
Since the beginning of time, human beings have found a variety of ways to illustrate their affections
for one another. An intriguing form to present an individual s ideal thoughts across is the form of
poetry, for it displays a deep and mysterious meaning behind the connotation of the words used.
Poetry allows writers to express themselves through the act of writing with the usage of a few words.
However, it is sometimes difficult for a reader to comprehend what the poem is trying to imply, but
that is the beauty behind poetry which as a reader, one might have a different interpretations from
another. In an analysis of She walks in beauty by Lord Byron and Sonnet 130 by William
Shakespeare, they both have a unique distinction on how the words are used to project affections to
their respective lover. The linguistic style of the poets diverges in their depiction the physical
appearance, emotive feelings, and understanding what the lover means to them. Lord Byron and
William Shakespeare did an incredible job analyzing their counterpart s physical appearance that was
just mind blowing to a reader. Throughout the poem She walks in beauty by Lord Byron, he uses
imagery that allowed him to compare his lover with nature. She walks in beauty, like the night Of
cloudless climes and starry skies, And all that s best of dark and bright Meet in her aspect and her
eyes; Thus mellowed to the tender light Which heaven gaudy day denies (Lines 1 6).
This stanza states that his

The Themes Of Death And Death
Cambridge Hinds
Big Question Paper
The Meaning of Death
The themes of life and death are used frequently throughout many ancient and modern stories, and
specifically, thoughts on death and what it means differ from author to author, time period to time
period, and circumstance to circumstance. Many works of ancient literature address the meaning of
death directly; examples include the drama Medea by ancient Greek playwright Euripides in 431 BCE,
and the Decameron by Italian Giovanni Boccaccio in around 1353. As well as being popular themes in
ancient literature, however, death is used for significant meaning in modern novels, movies, TV
shows, and other forms of storytelling and entertainment. A good example of this is the movie The
Book of Life, directed by Jorge R. Gutierrez.
Dictionary.com defines death as: ...the total and permanent cessation of all the vital functions of an
organism. In many religions, death is a transition from this world to another, whether it be for better or
worse. In our modern western society, death has many different views; it can be a bittersweet occasion
as well as a tragic one, depending on circumstances. As seen in Medea, the Decameron, and The Book
of Life, death always means an end to life, and an ultimate severance from the living. However, these
texts provide very different views of death, as well. Respectively, it means tragic revenge, a feared
end, and reconciliation as well as separation.
In the tragedy Medea, death is central to

Why Is Technology Important In The Vietnam War
During the Vietnam War, a proxy war fought primarily between North Vietnam and South Vietnam
with the support of the US, the deployment of new technology is seen by some to have a pivotal
impact on the nature of warfare. The Vietnam War does however highlight how other factors may have
been equally influential as despite America s large preponderance in the sense of technology, weapons
and ultimately economic wealth it was counteracted by the intense motivation to win and leadership
shown by the North Vietnamese Army and the Viet Cong, provoking their victory. As a result, it raises
the question if new technology alone influenced the nature of warfare in this period or if it was a
combination of other aspects including public support, organization, ... Show more content on

This photograph (left) taken by Eddie Adams, shows the execution of a Vietcong soldier who
assassinated the families of several South Vietnamese police officers, being executed by General
Nguyen Ngoc loan, the South Vietnamese National Police Chief. Although the executed was guilty of
heinous crimes, when the photograph was broadcasted it galvanized the anti war movement and was
used as anti war propaganda across the world . This source is reliable as it visually depicts the reality
of war and what was going on in Vietnam. It is an example of why America experienced a rapid
decline of public backing from 1968 to 71, by the end of which only 28% of America s public were in
favor of the war. It was not only ordinary people who determined the Governments choices on warfare
but influential leaders such as Martin Luther King. King once referred to the US government as the
greatest purveyor of violence in the world today during his 1967 Beyond Vietnam speech . This
statement cannot be taken lightly as at this time King would have been a supporter of the Government
in order to assist the Civil Rights Movement and therefore it would have been a great deal for him to
speak out against their actions. For King to do so it highlights that the level of public disgust against
the military action used in Vietnam was

The Historical Inaccuracy Of Bradford s Plain Style
The Historical Inaccuracy of Bradford s Plain Style In the 1600 s, the Mayflower sailed across the
Atlantic Ocean carrying a number of passengers to the New World, one of which was William
Bradford. While on his journey to the New World, Bradford began to write a narrative conveying all
that had happened, entitled Of Plymouth Plantation. He would continue writing this narrative well into
the colony s settlement. In Bradford s narrative, he writes using a plain style of writing with direct
statements, simple sentences, and everyday language of the time period it was written in. William
Bradford s use of plain style in Of Plymouth Plantation beneficially portrays the experience of the
Pilgrims, but his lack of details in an attempt to portray God s message alters the reality as accurately

they stole the corn from a Native American and left them without food for the next planting season.
Also, upon their arrival in America, many died of starvation or resorted to cannibalism due to a lack of
supplies, which was also excluded from Bradford s narrative. Within the first year of the Pilgrim s
colonization of the New World, only half had survived, but with William Bradford s lack of details
from his use of plain style, the overall experience of the Pilgrims was distinguished as entirely more
joyful and spiritual compared to the reality where they all were disease ridden, starving, and

many people were against it this essay will discuss why people were against it. The threat of american
expansion into canada happened because the Americans were against the confederation of 1867.
Documents 1, 7 will be used as evidence to support the idea of how people were against the

##k Of Personality In Jon Ronson s The Spokesperson
In Jon Ronson s The Spokesperson, there is a definite lack of respect for Shayler s side of the
argument, making my perception of North s appear more favorable and evoking an ethos appeal to her
emotional re telling of a brush with death. Jon Ronson One morning two years ago, Rachel North,
who works in advertising, got on the Piccadilly Line tube at Finsbury Park, in north London. (Ronson
1). Ronson clearly wanted to provide background information to get you well acquainted with her and
her story. He continues by letting her tell her side of the story, And it was very hot. You couldn t
breathe at all. The air was just completely thick with smoke. And I was suddenly wet, completely wet.
And I was on the floor. And there were people lying on top of me. And then the screaming started
(Ronson 1).It is important to listen to the podcast when examining the interview because in the
background of the story, there are violins and soft piano licks adding subconscious emphasis to the
ethos and pathos. As she reflects back on how she handled the experience she tells us that she, started
pacing about. I was alternately pounding with anger and adrenaline and having mini flashbacks, then
feeling falling over tired. I drank several whiskeys (Ronson 1). One of the main things I learned from
AP psychology was that cognitive dissonance occurs directly after a traumatic event. This is because
for the brain to cope with such traumatic events, there needs to be gap fillers available to smooth over
the stress and allow positive growth. As Ronson began to transition into the conspiracy theorists
subject, he makes sure to add choice wording that sets up your opinion on the theorists early on. And
so Rachel felt uncontrollably compelled to do something unwise. She decided to jump into the fray,
jump into the lives of the internet conspiracy theorists. She decided to get involved, and try and
convince them that their theories weren t true (Ronson 1). The word usage uncontrollably compelled
to do something unwise, and conspiracy theorists add to the cushion he has given North, and how he is
subtly belittling Shayler. **The difference between perspective and perception ultimately boils down
to, Perspective is a point of

Local Government In Australia

the Commonwealth has responsibility for social security while state governments have primary
responsibility for education (Press Hayes, 2000). Thus, policy and funding matters related to different

During the 1940s and 1950s preschools, as they became known, began to emerge in middle class
suburbs and were often managed by local parents. During the 1960s and 1970s, some State
Governments became involved in the provision of preschool services. In both Victoria and New South
Wales preschool provision remained largely in the hands of voluntary agencies (Brennan, 1998).
Although preschool provision and operation were widespread, preschools largely failed to meet the
needs of working mothers. A strong push for the provision of child care services to support working
women developed in the late 1960s and early 1970s. A feminist advocacy for women s rights seek in
paid employment and researches on the number of children left without adequate supervision because
of their parents need to work, and the needs of industry for access to women s labour became a
powerful impetus for governments to take child care provision seriously (Press Hayes, 2000). As a
result, the Commonwealth Minister for Labour and National Service introduced the Child Care Act
1972, which commenced Commonwealth involvement in the funding of child care programs beyond
the Lady Gowrie Centres. From 1983 to 1990 child care provision was regarded as part of the social

blacks was finally free. In the South there was a sense of anger and shame in losing the war. The
Reconstruction era was put into effect by Congress in 1866 and lasted until 1877. Reconstruction was
aimed at reorganizing the Southern states after the Civil War. The reconstruction plan granted the
means for readmitting the southern states into the Union, and tried to come up with the methods by
which whites and blacks could live together in a non slave society. However during reconstruction the
United States government took actions to protect freedman and with each action the south countered
with actions that would try to eradicate the laws put in place by the winning northern forces for
example, the infamous Jim Crow Laws. The law segregated the whites and the blacks, thus can be
commonly heard as separate is not equal. The Reconstruction was still seen as a success towards the
United States as a whole in many ways as it unified the nations.

Origin Of Violence
The Origin of Violence A question that has been asked for years and years, to this day, that still
remains unanswered, where is the origin of violence. Where is the line that is drawn from self defense
to committing an act of violence? For years, cases on top of cases of violence have been reported.
School shootings, fights, murder, acts of theft, and countless others, all in which happen on a daily
basis, but where does the line get drawn from what is right and wrong in a situation. The origin of
violence lies within the case itself, as no case of violence is ever exactly the same, the beliefs, the
situation, and the scenario all have different origins for violence. Every individual s beliefs are
different from one another. Based on beliefs, in the 21st century, society follows their beliefs and tends
to be quite close minded to the thought of any belief that goes against or is not in favor of their own. If
an individual believes that that what they did in a violence scenario was right, their mind can not
easily be changed. Belief systems can also go into a huge psychological argument as ... Show more

There is a difference between the truth and an individual s truth. In your own mindset, you full
heartedly believe your own truth. So depending on the situation, anyone s truth can be taken as the
truth. A school shooter is probably convicted, charged as guilty, there is evidence over the crime they
committed, of course not really including their reasoning, but it is not a crime to be taken very easily.
Based on the situation lies the origin of violence. An intruder breaking into a family home, committing
an act of theft, the home owner shoots at the intruder, are they now the one guilty in this situation? No,
this was more of an act of self defense. The truth of the origin of violence lies within the

An Evaluation Of The Economic Benefits And Ethical Issues...
Working Title
Population control: an evaluation of the economic benefits and ethical issues of population control
through the use of eugenics
Background
The topic of population has been prevalent in the study of economics but particularly since Thomas
Malthus published his book Essay on the Principle of Population (1798). Malthus was the first
economist to propose a systematic theory of population. Malthus proposed in his book that humans
grow exponentially whereas the food supply grows at an arithmetic rate. This scenario of arithmetic
food growth with simultaneous geometric human population growth predicted a future when humans
would have no resources to survive on. To avoid such a catastrophe, Malthus urged controls on
population growth.
Economically there are two approaches to the debate on how much the human population can grow.
One debate is the natural science approach which is adopted by biologists, chemists and physicists.
The natural science approach stands by the fundamental idea that earths capacity to supply is fixed
and human population is constrained by physical limits and of scarce natural resources. They state that
human biological requirements don t change. For example; everyone on the planet today needs 2000
2500 calories per day to be healthy, this is the same amount of calories our ancestors would have
needed 1000 years ago, however, the earth is now vastly more populated than 1000 years ago,
consequentially, there will come a time when there

Lorazepam
My coworker had a 40 year old patient who came to the hospital for alcohol withdrawal. All the nurses
on our floor knew him really well because he visits our hospital frequently. At around 7:30 pm, our
telemetry showed that the patient was having a heart rate of 180s to190s. We all were still getting
report. Charge nurse went to assess the patient, patient started yelling in a loud voice, throwing
pillows and a blanket. It turned out that the patient went to the delirium tremens (DT) phase. He was
confused, disoriented, hallucinating, agitated, irritated and had muscle tremor. When reviewing the
medication administration record (MAR), charge nurse noticed that CIWA scale was not done as
ordered and as a result patient did not get enough Lorazepam ... Show more content on

As a result, nurses were running behind trying to get their regular and stat blood work, assessments,
vitals and charting done on time. Hence, it was unfair to the patient as well as a nurse taking care of
the patient. If he was given lorazepam as ordered, he would not have gone to DT and this would not
have created any unnecessary stress on the nurses, doctors and patient care techs. This clinical case is
related to the emancipatory knowledge. Emancipatory knowing is the ability to identify social and
political problems of injustice and adds all the elements of experience and context to change a
situation (Chinn, 2010, p. 63). As soon as charge nurse noticed that the patient had a change of status
and tachycardia, she looked at the doctor s note, assessment data and MAR to figure out what was
wrong with this picture and what needs to change. Also, she found out that the nurse who had this
patient during the day had all higher acuity level patient along with 1 code patient. In addition to this,
patient was assigned to the room far from nurses station. Also, charge nurse immediately called

Should Child Soldiers Be Granted Amnesty Essay
Child soldiers should be granted amnesty. The reason child soldiers should be considered as victims
are because they are forced into labor, drugged, and threatened into service. Many of these child
soldiers, after being rescued and rehabilitated, are able to be adopted into loving families and lead
normal lives. However, those who are sent back to where they became child soldiers will surely
commit those crimes again.
The first reason that child soldiers should be considered as victims are that they are drugged. In many
cases, after the child is taken away from their family, the warlords and their older soldiers will give the
children drugs such as cocaine, marijuana and narcotics to make them more obedient. In the case of a
boy named Ishmael Beah, he was forced into service by government soldiers through threats, cocaine

Like every other normal person, I do know who John Ronald Reul Tolkien is. This Englishman is a

escaping this stressful, hurried and tense world for a while. At the same time, Tolkien s books are
thrilling and gentle, unsophisticated and deep, unique and diverse, and they make the readers want to
and not want to turn to the last page. In other words, his books are completely anti gravity. No one can
put them down.
Through Tolkien s works, I learn many lessons about life. For example, although the journeys in
Tolkien s stories are indeed challenging and dangerous, such as the adventure of Bilbo and the
dwarves, I always feel a sense of optimism and happiness. The characters sing, dance, laugh, tell
stories and make jokes. I learn that no matter what happens, stay happy and never give

It plays cold facts of reality on how people lived during early 20th century. Family values, poverty and
technology are among the most important and remarkable themes of the story, issues that are still of
big concern now in the 21st century. Kate believed in the powerful role that values played in family
being fiercely devout to her Catholic and moral disciplines toward her sisters. These beliefs are still on
our society though many people are living them behind especially in liberal countries, destroying
family integrity. Poverty as we mentioned have always existed, economical depressions and
unemployment are the main factors of this struggle. Many people live like the Mandy family today or
even worst. Is an issue that the entire world still needs to dial with. On the other hand, through the
story we can see how technology connects people being sometimes a good distraction for making
great memories with the people you love; back in time with just one radio and now with different
devices that bring us closer than ever. As the audience mentioned This play reflects charged emotions
about Irish living conditions. The spirit of music and dancing among the sisters let them forget about
their troubles and kick up their heels, bittersweet.

My Christian Faith Research Paper
Everyone has their time in life when God tests the strength of their faith. These tests can cause you to
break down, and they can torture you mentally. Most of the time, these tests are really big. For
example, if someone you love gets sick and you want to help, but there is nothing that you can do.
This is what happened to me, and it came to me through my mom suffering from a large brain tumor.
Through my mother s hardship and my reliance on my Christian faith, I learned important lessons
such as, self control, putting all faith in God, and the importance of loving others for who they are. I
learned a very influential lesson about self control during this. In May 2016, my mom was diagnosed
with a large meningioma covering most of the left side of her brain. The tumor had been growing
there for 7 to 10 years, they said it was most likely caused by the pills she took to help have me. This
hit me hard, because it was so unexpected. I had so many questions that ... Show more content on

was restricting the brain to hold in fluid. The doctor fixed this with a simple blood patch and after this
procedure, she started to wake up. Shortly after this, she moved to the rehabilitation unit and started

The Origins Of The World
Viking, the word conjures up images of well built men with long hair and braided beards wearing firs
and horned helmets, holding axes and shields, ready to battle so they can return home to consume
bountiful feasts. The word brings to mind fanciful stories like Beowulf where these very same men
fight beasts after a night of stuffing their gullets and consuming large amounts of mead. There are so
many stories about these warriors that many of them have become legendary individuals, but there is
so little information about the people who provided the food to keep the so powered up, the people
who provided the nourishment for the rest of their community while the warriors plundered and
defended their honor. There is little known about the farmers. There is even less known about these
unsung heroes around the time that Christianity took over the Norse culture. A group of researchers
that took part in a study in Skagafjörður Iceland was determined to change that. Iceland has some of
the richest Viking history, next to The Netherlands, so the fact that the people living there would want
a more in depth history makes sense. Murphy and Zoëga took a special interest in a small site in the
project, to see how the common non warrior Viking lived their lives. They wanted to know more about
the people history forgot to mention, to breathe the life back into the people who time almost forgot,
the people whose story did not get told, the people Viking warriors would have not even existed

The Yellow Wallpaper Symbolism Essay
Commonly overlooked in its significance, the garden in The Yellow Wallpaper successfully represents
all elements of the main character s rebellious intentions. Generally, a garden features well trimmed
vegetation, which is guarded by a fence or wall to keep away outside forces, whether it be humans or
animals with intentions to harm the plants. In contrast, nature operates in a free flowing manner, with
its greenery tangled in abundance and lacking any type of structure. On the surface, it may seem that
the garden s kempt appearance is a blessing to the plants within, as they are saved from the
uncertainties of natural life by being incubated in a specific space. The main character of The Yellow
Wallpaper originally follows this notion ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The word choice the main character employs to describe the plants is particularly notable, as it implies
a disobedient appearance in a garden that expects conformity in its essence. This oddly described
foliage becomes the inanimate representation of the main character herself, who is also trying to rebel
against a world passionate in its attempts to suppress and demean. The plants become riotous and
gnarly to actively resist attempts to be subordinated by the garden, and the main character s
observation of this conveys her desire to revolt, even though she cannot express her displeasure in a
communicable language. The main character s envy of the plants makes this symbol even more
powerful, as the greenery represents where she seeks to be: in a position where she can fight her
oppressors by being openly nonconformist. Unfortunately for the main character, her rebellious
behavior haves to be tucked away in the subconscious and in her own thoughts, as she is unable to
voice legitimate concerns in a patriarchal

Flat Tax Rate: Rich Households Have Had Enough Rich households have been paying too much in
taxes these past years. Earners in the top 1% pay about 43% of their incomes in tax. [While] people in
the middle quintile pay 25%. [And] the poorest fifth pays 13% (Barro). And yet some politicians, like
Donald Trump, think the solution to resolving our country s debt is by taxing the top percent more. In
reality, the United States should have a flat tax rate due to the fact that it is the fairest plan and the
hard work pertained by the top percent should be valued. The way flat tax rate works is that everyone
gets taxed the same percentage regardless of their income. For example, lets say a poor man makes

There are three disadvantages also with the first one is giving the impression that you cannot change.

The author does not seem to be focusing on the teenagers health when much of his logos came from
the expense of sex education programs and the wasted money involved with abstinence only
programs. He stated the dollar amount spent on these programs more than five times and one time
mentioned the money spent to observe the effectiveness of these programs. One example of this is
when he criticised that this extension equals another $ 250 million for failed abstinence only until
marriage programs over the next five years (SIECUS, 2014, p.3). He also did not explicitly state how
these programs failed so the audience assumes that it failed because of his following sentence about
how taxes pay for abstinence only programs. Although money is always a factor, these programs are
being provided for a reason and are paramount in teenagers lives. The safety of teenagers is usually
the concern whether their education is abstinence based or with additional education on STIs and
unplanned pregnancy. Hence, the author should have mentioned how many unplanned pregnancies
teens have faced or a provided a statistic on the spread of STIs. Furthermore, the author did not even
provide pathos evidence that abstinence based education was harmful through a personal recollection
of someone who was affected negatively. With neither of these evidences present, the audience is left
to wonder whether abstinence only education is really affecting anyone. However, the author had a
pattern of providing mostly irrelevant statistics such as money spent on programs. Therefore the
author sometimes breaks down the opposing side, but does not strengthen his own side through his
often misused logos and a lack of

Hernan Cortes Letter Hernan Cortes, the Spanish Conquistador (1482 1547) wrote his letter in 1502 when he discovered The great city of Temixtitlan (Mexico) and Christopher Columbus (1451 1506) the Italian explorer who completed four voyages across the Atlantic ocean, wrote his letter in 1493 when exploring for five months through Juana (Cuba) and Hispaniola (Santo Domingo). The first letter was from Christopher Columbus, the way he spoke about the island Juana made whoever read that letter visualize it. He spoke on how the land was fertile, how a lot of different things could happen in that island, trying to sell that island to make the person reading it again, visualize it and in my opinion see them there. • 3. Next Year Research Paper Well, well, well. Where do I even start? Grades I guess overall, I had a pretty good year, in terms of academics. I ve kept all As throughout the whole year, which in nice. I even got a perfect attendance award one time, (2nd Nine Weeks) which is shocking, because I get sick really easily, and i m pretty sure I was absent. Hey, i m in no position to complain. School is a relatively easy thing for me, grades, teachers, etc. Personally, I really enjoy school. It s something i m good at, and something that I can understand easily. My only problem is being surrounded by idiots who think they are entitled to more than the average student. Trips The school field trips are nice, even more so because of how small we are. I d have to say my favorite was(or will be) Butler springs. It s a fun place to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The only one I had trouble with was being memorable. It started with keeping a calendar to having sticky notes everywhere. It s a mess, but it works. And hey, my goal wasn t to be more organized. Next Year s Goals My goals for next year are simple: Get in shape, join ROTC, and make new friends at my new school. I ll be changing schools because Master Sergeant is moving his jib to McLain, and my mom is dating him so it s only natural i d go. The only goal i d have problems with would be making new friends, because by now everyone has their own clicks and circles. Conclusion In conclusion, my year was pretty good. I had fun on a few trips, I made excellent grades, and I sorted out some issues I had at home. I had a lot of great moments that meant a lot to me, like getting my dog and being with my friends and very few bad moments. I will be changing schools once this custody thing is sorted out, and hopefully make new friends and enjoy the school. In short, I had a pretty good year. That s ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Asian-American Stereotypes Asian culture has been slandered throughout America s history by the term Model Minority , and through it s toxic ideals has lead to outstanding rates of depression, and the inhumane backlash has proven fatal to the Asian American population. The term Model Minority was coined to categorize Asian Americans in 1966, during the United States civil liberties movement. During this time period white politicians were in a state of agitation because African Americans were demanding their civil rights(Chin). The stereotype associated with the term model minority is a suffocating archetype that has been pushed onto Asian Americans; this degrading term has a harsh history that has led to heinous social pressures and implications, along with detrimental ... Although they came from similar backgrounds one factor to keep in consideration is the fact that Stephanie grew up in the 80 s, while Katherine is still a student. Stephanie Johnson said that her family was fairly lenient, and they did not push her to extremes. However Katherine s experience was rather different, Katherine is currently attending an unnamed high school and is in an AICE program, along with actively participating in six choirs, and taking business classes. The stress is overwhelming her and the pressure that her parents placed on her has led to a lack of sleep, but outstanding achievements throughout her life. In Act 1 of Macbeth by William Shakespeare, the soon to be Lord of Cawdor, exhibits qualities expected of a noble warrior who is loyal to his king. Through the manipulations and badgering of Lady Macbeth, Macbeth s good qualities begin to disappear and his evil ones emerge. • 6. The Death Of A Railway Section Man Essay When William married 17 year old Orrville native Margaret on October 15, 1917, he was like his dad a railway section man in Falding. Indeed, 3 out of the 5 boys Milo and Eliza had would at some time work for CNR. Clearly dad was useful in getting employment for his sons. After marriage the couple resided in Gordon Bay on Lake Joseph. There they fell so ill of the Spanish Flu that sister Ethel had to temporarily take up residence with them in Mid June of 1919 to see them through. As William gained experience he moved down the line to Washago as a RR foreman. The son now lived in the first place his father worked in Ontario back in 1881. Tragedy befell the childless couple when they went on a 19th June 1927 trip, Margaret fell from [an] auto fatally injuring her brain. A haemorrhage killed her 5 days later after Toronto General tried in vain to save her. Her bereaved parents, who had moved to Richmond Hill from Orrville to deal directly with the sad details. As for William, less than a year later he married a woman Alice Maria Davy from Beaverton a town just south of Washago and where William s sister Edith had been living for 12 years as Mrs. Morrison. The marriage occurred on May 5, 1928 in Beaverton and they continued to live in Washago through WWII. William dabbled on the side, for a time, in selling dry goods. • 7. Compare And Contrast Inca And Aztec Civilization The Incan and Aztec civilization were powerful and wealthy tribes. They survived and thrived in various regions in South America. Resources were abundant and several crucial aspects that helped sustain both indigenous tribes were religion, government and social systems, economics, and their geography. Nevertheless, these vital aspects were also significant in their catastrophic downfall during their encounters with Cortés and Pizarro. Once ruthless conquistadors and explorers like Hernán Cortés and Francisco Pizarro arrived, the Native American tribes could not stand a chance. After all, both Spanish explorers were better equipped with weapons and defense. For example, they had supplies like powerful cannons, muskets, heavy duty armor, as well as brawny horses. On the other hand, the savage Incas and Aztecs, though strong and mighty in warfare, only had spears, arrowheads (usually dipped in poison), natural resources used in the creation weaponry ... Instead of complying, Cortés captured Moctezuma and claimed Mexico for Spain. Years later after being forced out by the Aztecs, Cortés returned, demolished Tenochtitlán, and built Mexico City. In efforts to acquire more land, become wealthy by retrieving gold, and forcefully converting others to Catholicism, Francisco Pizarro imitated Cortés s technique to vanquish and dominate the Incas, which resided in Peru in 1531. He captured Atahualpa, (the ruler at that time) in 1532, and made the Incas pay an extremely expensive ransom a year later. Nevertheless, Atahualpa was executed. • 8. Destruction of the American Dream in Arthur Miller s... Destruction of the American Dream in Arthur Miller s Death of A Salesman A white picket fence surrounds the tangible icons of the American Dreams in the middle 1900 s: a mortgage, an automobile, a kitchen appliance paid for on the monthly installment plan, and a silver trophy representative of high school football triumph. A pathetic tale examining the consequences of man s harmartias, Arthur Miller s Death of A Salesman satisfies many, but not all, of the essential elements of a tragedy. Reality peels away the thin layers of Willy Loman s American Dream; a dream built on a lifetime of poor choices and false values. Although the characters are not of noble birth nor possess a heroic nature nor experience a reversal of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For Biff, the idea of success is an easy loan from an ex employer he has stolen from; for Hap, success is obtaining a promotion by waiting for the merchandise manager to die. Inevitably, the Loman s unrealistic idea about success is one of the steps in their downfall. Equally as damaging, the Loman family lacks the ability to make the necessary and suitable choices to pursue the American Dream. Although Willy is skillful with his hands and believes a man who can t handle tools is disgusting, he chooses a lifetime career as a salesman, based on the fanciful image of his father who abandoned Willy as a child and on the image of an 84 year old salesman who dies alone in a train car to Boston. Willy takes pride in the craftsmanship he put into their house, yet believes a salesman such as his father is better than a carpenter. Furthermore, he questions the purpose of building because some stranger ll come along, move in, and that s that. Ironically, Willy is a better carpenter than a salesman. He boasts on what an impact he makes on his clients, but in reality one of the reasons he has a sexual rendezvous with a secretary is to get through to the buyers. Willy makes another poor choice because of his hubris, or false pride, when he turns down Charley s job offer. Similarly, false pride and the inability to make appropriate choices lead to Hap and Biff choosing unsuitable occupations. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. Symbolism In Ernest Hemingway s A Farewell To Arms World War I began with the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria. Ernest Hemingway s novel, A Farewell to Arms, follows the life of the Italian Speaking, American Frederic Henry as he joins the war on behalf of the Italians, is injured by a bombshell, and flees after his recovery. In his most popular novel, A Farewell to Arms, Hemingway utilizes the motif of whorehouses, sporadic syntax during Henry s rampant drunkenness, and understatement when Henry encounters death to illustrate how war morally decays the ordinary man. Throughout A Farewell to Arms, Hemingway exemplifies the purpose of whorehouses as a distraction for the soldiers and the role of women in times of war. In the beginning, the motif of whorehouses is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... By implementing a confusing syntax during Henry s inebriated state, Hemingway reveals how the war affects the morality of Henry s mind. After his hospitalization from an explosion, Henry s friends bring him alcohol as a get well present. Henry has a drink and argues about Rome with Rinaldi in his drunken state: Roma is feminine, said Rinaldi. It cannot be the father. Who is the father, then, the Holy Ghost? Don t blas pheme. I wasn t blaspheming, I was asking for information. You are drunk, baby. Who made me drunk? I made you drunk because I love you and because America is in the war. (Hemingway 71) Through this ambiguous sentence structure, it is difficult to tell who says, comments, or argues with who. By utilizing this perplexing syntax Hemingway shows how being drunk affects Henry s state of mind. Henry is unable to tell right from wrong, or if the comment made is actually blasphemy or not. Henry s mindstate is altered, as evident by Hemingway s use of muddled syntax, as a result of the alcohol; in addition, Henry only got drunk because he was given alcohol after his injuries in the war. Thus, the war morally decayed Henry s mind through alcohol to the point of not being able to discern right from wrong. The war not only numbs Henry emotionally through alcohol but also through his encounters with death. Hemingway s use of understatement when Henry encounters death reveals how the war progressively deteriorated ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 10. Benefits Of The Clean Water Rule The Clean Water Rule The United States government should uphold the Clean Water Rule for several reasons. Keeping the Clean Water rule ensures that the environment is protected which will help in many other aspects such as protecting drinking water and maintaining the outdoor portion of the economy. The economy needs clean water to sustain itself. If the Clean Water Rule were dropped, then there would be a decrease in the clean water available across the nation. Clean water doesn t just affect what we are able to drink but affects other industries as well such as agriculture, manufacturing and energy production. People need clean drinking water. Without clean water human health will drop significantly resulting in many health problems. Most Americans get their clean water from areas protected by the Clean Water Rule. Getting rid of it would lead to pollution of those waters leading to these problems. Clean water is not only a very important thing for humans but for farms and livestock as well. Farmers need clean water to properly nourish their crops and to keep their livestock healthy. Without clean water, the crop production yield would not be as high and would lead to poor crops. Livestock require clean water to remain healthy and stay well nourished. Getting rid of the Clean Water Rule would lead to the destruction of the United States in a variety of ways. • 11. Lord Byron And William Shakespeare Since the beginning of time, human beings have found a variety of ways to illustrate their affections for one another. An intriguing form to present an individual s ideal thoughts across is the form of poetry, for it displays a deep and mysterious meaning behind the connotation of the words used. Poetry allows writers to express themselves through the act of writing with the usage of a few words. However, it is sometimes difficult for a reader to comprehend what the poem is trying to imply, but that is the beauty behind poetry which as a reader, one might have a different interpretations from another. In an analysis of She walks in beauty by Lord Byron and Sonnet 130 by William Shakespeare, they both have a unique distinction on how the words are used to project affections to their respective lover. The linguistic style of the poets diverges in their depiction the physical appearance, emotive feelings, and understanding what the lover means to them. Lord Byron and William Shakespeare did an incredible job analyzing their counterpart s physical appearance that was just mind blowing to a reader. Throughout the poem She walks in beauty by Lord Byron, he uses imagery that allowed him to compare his lover with nature. She walks in beauty, like the night Of cloudless climes and starry skies, And all that s best of dark and bright Meet in her aspect and her eyes; Thus mellowed to the tender light Which heaven gaudy day denies (Lines 1 6). • 12. The Themes Of Death And Death Cambridge Hinds Big Question Paper The Meaning of Death The themes of life and death are used frequently throughout many ancient and modern stories, and specifically, thoughts on death and what it means differ from author to author, time period to time period, and circumstance to circumstance. Many works of ancient literature address the meaning of death directly; examples include the drama Medea by ancient Greek playwright Euripides in 431 BCE, and the Decameron by Italian Giovanni Boccaccio in around 1353. As well as being popular themes in ancient literature, however, death is used for significant meaning in modern novels, movies, TV shows, and other forms of storytelling and entertainment. A good example of this is the movie The Book of Life, directed by Jorge R. Gutierrez. Dictionary.com defines death as: ...the total and permanent cessation of all the vital functions of an organism. In many religions, death is a transition from this world to another, whether it be for better or worse. In our modern western society, death has many different views; it can be a bittersweet occasion as well as a tragic one, depending on circumstances. As seen in Medea, the Decameron, and The Book of Life, death always means an end to life, and an ultimate severance from the living. However, these texts provide very different views of death, as well. Respectively, it means tragic revenge, a feared end, and reconciliation as well as separation. In the tragedy Medea, death is central to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Why Is Technology Important In The Vietnam War During the Vietnam War, a proxy war fought primarily between North Vietnam and South Vietnam with the support of the US, the deployment of new technology is seen by some to have a pivotal impact on the nature of warfare. The Vietnam War does however highlight how other factors may have been equally influential as despite America s large preponderance in the sense of technology, weapons and ultimately economic wealth it was counteracted by the intense motivation to win and leadership shown by the North Vietnamese Army and the Viet Cong, provoking their victory. As a result, it raises the question if new technology alone influenced the nature of warfare in this period or if it was a combination of other aspects including public support, organization, ... Although the executed was guilty of heinous crimes, when the photograph was broadcasted it galvanized the anti war movement and was used as anti war propaganda across the world . This source is reliable as it visually depicts the reality of war and what was going on in Vietnam. It is an example of why America experienced a rapid decline of public backing from 1968 to 71, by the end of which only 28% of America s public were in favor of the war. It was not only ordinary people who determined the Governments choices on warfare but influential leaders such as Martin Luther King. King once referred to the US government as the greatest purveyor of violence in the world today during his 1967 Beyond Vietnam speech . This statement cannot be taken lightly as at this time King would have been a supporter of the Government in order to assist the Civil Rights Movement and therefore it would have been a great deal for him to speak out against their actions. The Historical Inaccuracy Of Bradford s Plain Style The Historical Inaccuracy of Bradford s Plain Style In the 1600 s, the Mayflower sailed across the Atlantic Ocean carrying a number of passengers to the New World, one of which was William Bradford. While on his journey to the New World, Bradford began to write a narrative conveying all that had happened, entitled Of Plymouth Plantation. He would continue writing this narrative well into the colony s settlement. In Bradford s narrative, he writes using a plain style of writing with direct statements, simple sentences, and everyday language of the time period it was written in. Jon Ronson One morning two years ago, Rachel North, who works in advertising, got on the Piccadilly Line tube at Finsbury Park, in north London. (Ronson 1). Ronson clearly wanted to provide background information to get you well acquainted with her and her story. He continues by letting her tell her side of the story, And it was very hot. You couldn t breathe at all. The air was just completely thick with smoke. And I was suddenly wet, completely wet. And I was on the floor. And there were people lying on top of me. And then the screaming started (Ronson 1).It is important to listen to the podcast when examining the interview because in the background of the story, there are violins and soft piano licks adding subconscious emphasis to the ethos and pathos. As she reflects back on how she handled the experience she tells us that she, started pacing about. I was alternately pounding with anger and adrenaline and having mini flashbacks, then feeling falling over tired. I drank several whiskeys (Ronson 1). One of the main things I learned from AP psychology was that cognitive dissonance occurs directly after a traumatic event. This is because for the brain to cope with such traumatic events, there needs to be gap fillers available to smooth over the stress and allow positive growth. As Ronson began to transition into the conspiracy theorists subject, he makes sure to add choice wording that sets up your opinion on the theorists early on. And so Rachel felt uncontrollably compelled to do something unwise. She decided to jump into the fray, jump into the lives of the internet conspiracy theorists. She decided to get involved, and try and convince them that their theories weren t true (Ronson 1). Where is the line that is drawn from self defense to committing an act of violence? For years, cases on top of cases of violence have been reported. School shootings, fights, murder, acts of theft, and countless others, all in which happen on a daily basis, but where does the line get drawn from what is right and wrong in a situation. The origin of violence lies within the case itself, as no case of violence is ever exactly the same, the beliefs, the situation, and the scenario all have different origins for violence. Every individual s beliefs are different from one another. Working Title Population control: an evaluation of the economic benefits and ethical issues of population control through the use of eugenics Background The topic of population has been prevalent in the study of economics but particularly since Thomas Malthus published his book Essay on the Principle of Population (1798). Malthus was the first economist to propose a systematic theory of population. Malthus proposed in his book that humans grow exponentially whereas the food supply grows at an arithmetic rate. This scenario of arithmetic food growth with simultaneous geometric human population growth predicted a future when humans would have no resources to survive on. To avoid such a catastrophe, Malthus urged controls on population growth. Economically there are two approaches to the debate on how much the human population can grow. One debate is the natural science approach which is adopted by biologists, chemists and physicists. The natural science approach stands by the fundamental idea that earths capacity to supply is fixed and human population is constrained by physical limits and of scarce natural resources. They state that human biological requirements don t change. For example; everyone on the planet today needs 2000 2500 calories per day to be healthy, this is the same amount of calories our ancestors would have needed 1000 years ago, however, the earth is now vastly more populated than 1000 years ago, consequentially, there will come a time when there ... In contrast, nature operates in a free flowing manner, with its greenery tangled in abundance and lacking any type of structure. On the surface, it may seem that the garden s kempt appearance is a blessing to the plants within, as they are saved from the uncertainties of natural life by being incubated in a specific space. The main character of The Yellow Wallpaper originally follows this notion ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The word choice the main character employs to describe the plants is particularly notable, as it implies a disobedient appearance in a garden that expects conformity in its essence. This oddly described foliage becomes the inanimate representation of the main character herself, who is also trying to rebel against a world passionate in its attempts to suppress and demean. The plants become riotous and gnarly to actively resist attempts to be subordinated by the garden, and the main character s observation of this conveys her desire to revolt, even though she cannot express her displeasure in a communicable language. The main character s envy of the plants makes this symbol even more powerful, as the greenery represents where she seeks to be: in a position where she can fight her oppressors by being openly nonconformist. Unfortunately for the main character, her rebellious behavior haves to be tucked away in the subconscious and in her own thoughts, as she is unable to voice legitimate concerns in a patriarchal ... • 35. Flat Tax Flat Tax Rate: Rich Households Have Had Enough Rich households have been paying too much in taxes these past years. Earners in the top 1% pay about 43% of their incomes in tax. [While] people in the middle quintile pay 25%. [And] the poorest fifth pays 13% (Barro). And yet some politicians, like Donald Trump, think the solution to resolving our country s debt is by taxing the top percent more. In reality, the United States should have a flat tax rate due to the fact that it is the fairest plan and the hard work pertained by the top percent should be valued. The way flat tax rate works is that everyone gets taxed the same percentage regardless of their income. For example, lets say a poor man makes $50,000 yearly , while a rich man ... Why should you make high income citizens pay for things that everyone is using. We should all put in the same amount of money that goes into these projects, since after all there for everyones use. Why would you penalize people that worked hard for their money when everyone else had the opportunity to do so. Even if its old money, someone struggled to gather that money, the government cannot just take that away. Being rich is rare privilege, not fairly common, if not it would not feel so unique. With the method we have now we are just going to balance everyones finances out, we need a diverse income for our population. If not people will not have any ambition, not strive. A country has to create riches, not distribute them if they do the economy as we know it will go in a decadence. Those that are in the highest class have studied and trained so hard to where they are. One example of this is when he criticised that this extension equals another $ 250 million for failed abstinence only until marriage programs over the next five years (SIECUS, 2014, p.3). He also did not explicitly state how these programs failed so the audience assumes that it failed because of his following sentence about how taxes pay for abstinence only programs. Although money is always a factor, these programs are being provided for a reason and are paramount in teenagers lives. The safety of teenagers is usually the concern whether their education is abstinence based or with additional education on STIs and unplanned pregnancy. Hence, the author should have mentioned how many unplanned pregnancies teens have faced or a provided a statistic on the spread of STIs. Furthermore, the author did not even provide pathos evidence that abstinence based education was harmful through a personal recollection of someone who was affected negatively. With neither of these evidences present, the audience is left to wonder whether abstinence only education is really affecting anyone. However, the author had a pattern of providing mostly irrelevant statistics such as money spent on programs. Therefore the author sometimes breaks down the opposing side, but does not strengthen his own side through his often misused logos and a lack of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
