The Myth About Hephaestus
The myth about Hephaestus had many connections which relate to real life and society. The
connection I made while reading the myth were that looks do not matter, everyone has a talent and
hard work. Hera gave up her son, Hephaestus because he looked ugly and deformed without
knowing his personality. This took place during the Unusual Birth part of the hero cycle. Herahad
seen how her son looked deformed so she threw him into the sea where a Sea God caught him and
took care of him. In real life many people judge each other by how they look without actually
getting to know them. Hephaestus was just born and Hera had no idea about his talents in
Blacksmith and metal work. The second connection I made was that everyone has a talent or

Biography Of Robert E. Lee
A Tribute to the 28th North Carolina
History is usually written by the victors of war. The Civil War is no different. We often hear
stories about the famous Iron Brigade and its tenacious fighting ability or of the fighting 69th Irish
Regiment of New York but many historians have overlooked the epic sacrifices Southern soldiers
endured. Sure, everyone has heard of Robert E. Lee or Stonewall Jackson, but the men under their
command are the reasons for their fame. Many times, the men from a certain geographical region
are grouped together, whose combined regiments formed brigades. This paper is a tribute to the
men of North Carolina who, gave their lives fighting for the Confederate cause; with a focus on the

(28th)7 The following year, after the Confederate state of South Carolina captured Fort Sumter on
April 7, 1861, much of this sentiment quickly changed in response to President Lincoln s calling
for 75,000 volunteers to invade the South and put down the rebellion. (28th)7 Governor John W.
Ellis of North Carolina quickly replied to President Lincoln, denying him troops from his state
citing him with infringing the constitution. The Governor then called for 30,000 state volunteers
and quickly seized Federal forts Caswell and Johnston, the Federal arsenal at Fayetteville, and the
United States mint at Charlotte until the state could hold a convention to decide on the secession
question. (28th)7 The Secession Convention convened on May 20, 1861 which consisted of 120
elected delegates from each county. The same day, they voted to secede from the Union, thus
joining the Confederate States in the war for Southern Independence. The Unionist sentiment
within the state had truly changed and with it, her hopes for peace! North Carolina was now at
war! The state, ill prepared as she was, scrambled to form an army. In all regions of the state, men
young and old flocked to join their neighbors as soldiers. The 28th North Carolina Volunteer
Infantry Regiment was formed near High Point, NC at Camp Fisher. (28th)11 The 28th was

The Evolution of Title Sequences
Movie titles first appeared in the beginning of silent films around the early twentieth century, giving
producers the opportunity to display legal and copyright information. Before the fifties these movie
titles were just text with information, they were static, separate from the movie, and it was common
for them to be projected onto the cinema curtains before the first scene of the movie. This paper
will address the introduction of title sequences in modern cinema in the fifties, their impact the
world of film as whole, and how they have evolved into ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Digital software didn t exist to make shapes and words fly across the screen at the touch of a
button. A title sequence sets a tone and atmosphere for a viewer, characters become introduced to
the audience; Bass told stories in his title sequences that included a beginning, middle, and end. The
primary purpose of a title sequence has always been to introduce the name of a film, introduce the
actors, and introduce the main people that work on it. Title sequences may be considered the most
important aspect of a film to some. In a perfect world the title sequence sets up an expectation for
the audience and causes excitement, but sometimes they may not be interested in the intro, that can
cause them to have a negative attitude towards the rest of the

Andrew Jackson And Theadore Roosevelt Essay
Andrew Jackson and Theodore Roosevelt were two men with very many things in common.
They both were Presidents in the United States of America at some point in time. They each have
served many years as some sort of governor with Jackson being the military governor of Florida
and Roosevelt being the governor of New York. Roosevelt and Jackson were major influences
towards this country. But even with those similarities between them they were two men with
differences. One was a big military man while the other was an author with eighteen books written
and a few other attributes. All of these are just a few examples of how important these men were
and how their related or not. The main similarity between Andrew Jackson and Theodore Roosevelt

Roosevelt s most famous foreign policy was definitely the Panama Canal. Roosevelt created the
National Bird Preserve. He was the president that had set aside land for some national parks and

pertaining to Andrew Jackson were he was the very first president associated with the actual
frontier. Another unique occurrence during Andrew Jackson s term was how for the first time the
United States Federal Government had managed to actually repay the totality of the federal debt
and it was also the only time in the U.S.history that this has ever occurred. Opposite of Theodore
Roosevelt, Andrew Jackson was a leader of the Democratic Party. Andrew Jackson was the man
that implemented the Treaty of Rotation. Another treaty that Jackson was involved with was the
Treaty of Fort Jackson. He had imposed the Treaty of Fort Jackson upon both the Northern and
Southern Creek Allies. He was very highly nominated by Tennessee not just once but twice for
him to become president. Jackson also took away the Federal Charter of the second bank of the
United States. He was the man who was responsible for the Panic of 1837. As well as the man
who had nullified the Force Bill. Lastly Jackson went and administrated the Treaty of New Echota.

Socio cultural Social issues include population demographics (such as growth rate or age profile),
employment patterns, income levels and population health and education. The above affect the
pricing of the product and how the product is advertised, for example. Cultural behaviour is not
always easy to analyse as it comprises many underlying assumptions which are hard to change
intentionally but which evolve over time (Mullins, 1985). Methods of conducting business are
altered by these cultural concerns. Technological This refers to the means and the methods used to
produce the product or the service supplied (Worthington and Britton, 2009). Although this involves
more than information technology, IT is becoming increasingly important. An organisation needs to
know what technologies are being used by its competitors in order to remain in the market and not
fall behind. To make its product more accessible to customers, a firm must also know what
technologies are being used by them and how these technologies affect the firm s procedures. In a
time where customers can read information on or buy products from firms around the globe,
business conduct must adapt to technologies. This is discussed in Iammarino and Michie s article
(1998), which also states that technology, computing, telecommunications, broadcasting and so on
have opened up the world economy . Legal There is an entire framework of legal requirements

Case Study Of Textile Gulshan Mills
1.What are the major problems at Textile Gulshan Mills and reasons for them?
Hiring the people from the different cultures is not necessary to lead the cultural conflicts. There
are some regions, in which the people prefer their cultures and these expectations then lead to
cultural conflict. The situation with textile Gulshan mills is based on the differences of ethnic
groups that are common across Pakistan. The conflict makers were not working together but also
living together under a single roof. This problem was the complex matter, If the company managed
the conflict inadequately, the problems eventually leading companies to result to expensive policy
makers to control the problems.

Archie Unleashed is an attempt to put the basic log analysis methodology for computing water

have little difficulty with the terms and concepts utilized in this paper, however, most terms are

Mark intervals selected for quantitative analysis on this log. Depth. correlate the other surveys to
this reference log or the Gamma ray curve from this log.
4.Select intervals with at least four feet of constant response whenever possible. Use a single
representative value from the center of the zone for each porosity and resistivity measurement. This
procedure minimizes thin bed and bed boundary effects on the logs.
5.Consider how to keep the interpretation simple. Analyse the most clear cut cases first. Look for:
The obvious mineral markers (salt, anhydrite). The cleanest, most porous, intervals. The cleanest,
water bearing, intervals. The cleanest, hydrocarbon bearing, intervals. The fluid contacts: gas/oil,
oil/water. The transition zones.
6.Tackle one unknown at a time. For example, when deriving an Rw value from logs, choose a
water bearing zone as nearly identical as possible to the hydrocarbon zone of interest. This means
the two zones have the same lithology, have the same or very similar porosity values, have the
same type of pore structure (do not compare a zone with moldic porosity to one with granular or
fracture porosity for instance), have the same formation water chemistry, etc. Ideally, the two zones
are identical except for hydrocarbon content.
Bear in mind what G. E. Archie said about his equations. It should be remembered that the equations
given are not precise and represent only approximate relationships.

Analysis Of Cj Mclaine s Deli And Bakery
CJ Mclaine s Deli and Bakery, LLC, a family claimed little business endeavor, worked in the town

providing food administrations. The businesswas propelled in 2004 and increased noteworthy energy
in its first year of operation (Giapponi, C.McDevitt, 2014). This starting achievement energized the
family managers. Amid its second year, on the other hand, changes in the aggressive environment
and a financial retreat made new impediments that influenced the business and primary concern. To
a degree demoralized, the managers perceived that key plan B must be considered if the business

particularly changes in financial variables, and changes identified with industry and aggressive

Golden Age Of Equality
As the bullet pierced Harrison s heart, the audience froze while thinking if their society was truly
equal. The movie 2081 gives us a fresh new meaning of equality. The society forces people s
talents to be equal, so no one would have an advantage. This includes their strength, intelligence,
and beauty. The society would call it the Golden Age of Equality however Harrison would disagree
with that statement. 2081 and the real society can be very different on how they treat the
extraordinary and their meaning for handicap, while at the same time they can both be similar like
how they both have punishments and there s a type of policeforce to keep citizens safe.
Although 2081 is a completely different society and is considered a dystopia, ... Show more content

A very unusual and new concept that 2081 uses is that they try conceal people s intelligence,
strength, and beauty while while the real world wants you to improve or express those qualities.
In the beginning of 2081, its states, The strong wore weights to make them weaker; the
intelligent wore earpieces that kept them from taking unfair advantage of their brains, Even the
beautiful, sometimes wore masks in situations where their beauty might simply be too
distracting. This explains how the society in 2081 brings down the intelligent, the strong, and
the beautiful, preventing them to reveal any of those qualities. However, the real world rewards
all of the things that the government in 2081 tries to hide. For example, in a high school
graduation the school would give recognition to the valedictorian, which encourages students to
do better in academics. While in 2081, they would not honor or give recognition the intelligent,
instead they would try to make them more unwise, so no one would see the person s real
capabilities. The real society would never attempt to make a student more unwise like how the
society in 2081 would. Our school system encourages for improvement on test scores or grades,
and not disprovement. In 2081, the society has a different perspective of a handicapped person
from the real world. The real world views a handicap person as someone with a disadvantage
while in 2081 they view it as someone who has an advantage. In 2081, Harrison was considered,
handicap even though he was a genius and strong. However, this is different to the real society
because a handicap person today, would be someone with a physical or mental problem such as
someone who can barely walk. This shows, that a handicapped person from 2081 would have the
exact opposite skills as a handicap person in the real society. The society of 2081 would label a
weak old man

What Are The Impact Of Imperialism
1.INTRODUCTION
Africa has been a continent that has given birth to many civilizations as well as being the mother
of all human races. However as much as it boast its majestic greatness it is not without scars. It
has been colonized and stripped off of its resources and people due to imperialism. Imperial
expansion into Africa, costing taxpayers dearly, provided poor and precarious markets (Hobson
1970:152) . This essay addresses the historical background, Impact of imperialism, and
contemporary nature of imperialism on the global economic expansion. This essay will attempt a

Hobson s account of Imperialism pinpoints excess capital as the cause of capitalism: a crisis that
could be overcome by social reform. Lenin, however, focuses on the role of finance capital in the
over ripening of capitalism the highest stage of capitalism that will lead to capitalism s inevitable
fall. This essay has thus demonstrated that, notwithstanding their similarities, Hobson and Lenin s
accounts of Imperialism are strikingly different. The goal of both Hobson and Lenin s accounts of
Imperialism was to provide the world with a critical economic rationale for the social phenomenon
Imperialism, which they succeeded. Hobson and Lenin s accounts of Imperialism were
unquestionably similar: they both accorded economic concentration to the birth of this social
phenomenon; they both understood the importance of monopolies in its growth; they agreed that
the world would be split this essay has, however, emphasized two fundamental differences between
Hobson and Lenin. Hobson argues that imperialism is a product of capitalism. Capitalism and its
profits motive generate over production, which leads to concentration in

Roman Catholic Influence On Ireland Research Paper
Influence of Roman Catholicism in Ireland could be dated back to around 400 AD where the
majority of the population were Roman Catholics. Ironically, the ones who held the power and land
were the immigrant Protestant minorities from England. They united with the English to force a
series of discriminatory inheritance laws through Parliament. The laws effectively broke up large
Catholic estates and placed them under the mercy of rapidly consolidating Protestant landowners.
This presented a result that the Catholics, who in 1641 had control of 59% of the land after nearly
60 years in 1703, held merely 14% (Baker). The Protestants found ways to deprive Catholics of any
right to serve in the Parliament or administration through legal means.

us that celebrities can be viewed as good or bad role models. There are many celebrities that can

The Gulf Of Tonkin Incident
Under the Johnson legislation, the Gulf of Tonkin Incident was a catalyst that inevitably escalated
the American involvement in the Vietnam War. It was on August 2nd 1964 that three Vietnamese
torpedo boats allegedly attacked the American destroyer, the U.S.S Maddox. Apprehensive of losing
more countries to communist ideals, the U.S intervened ten years prior to the incident in the Gulf
of Tonkin without any major military campaigns. Influenced by former president Eisenhower s
Domino Theory, which stated that if one country is communist, the other countries would be
influenced by communist ideals, Lyndon B. Johnsonand his administration was led to believe that
the United States was obligated to stop the spread of communism. It was the incident in the Gulf
of Tonkin where the U.S had its first major encounter with the North Vietnamese. Allied with the
south, the Gulf of Tonkin had plunged the United States further into a full scale war. However,
with America s response to escalate the war, many people wonder even today if the Gulf of
Tonkin was truly a counter offensive from the North Vietnamese. Did the U.S really act
responding to Vietnamese aggression or did the U.S just declare that they responded to an act of
aggression just to escalate the war? Under the lead of President Harry Truman, in 1947, a foreign

Essay On Conditional Branch Predictor
Conditional branch predictor (CBP) is an essential component in the design of any modern deeply

proposed varieties schemes for the design of the CBPs that claim to offer desired levels of
accuracy and speed needed to meet the demand for the architectural design of multicore processors.
Amongst various schemes in practice to realize the CBPs, the ones based on neural computing i.e.,
artificial neural network (ANN) have been found to outperform other CBPs in terms of accuracy.

The major dificulty encountered due to extensive use of parallelism is the existence of branch
instructions in the set of instructions presented to the processor for execution: both conditional and
unconditional branch instructions in the pipeline. If the instructions under execution in the
pipeline does not bring any change in the control flow of the program, then there is no problem at
all. However, when the branch instruction puts the program under execution to undergo a change
in the flow of control, the situation becomes a topic of concern as the branch instruction breaks
the sequential flow of control, leading to a situation what is called pipeline stall and levying
heavy penalties on processing in the form of execution delays, breaks in the program flow and
overall performance drop. Changes in the control flow affects the processor performance because
many processor cycles must be wasted in ushing the pipeline already loaded with instructions from
wrong locations and again reading in the new set of instructions from right address. It is well
known that in a highly parallel computer system, branch instructions can break the smooth flow of
instruction fetching, decoding and execution. This results in delay, because the instruction issuing
must often wait until the actual branch outcome is known. To make things worse, the deeper the
pipelining, more is the delay, and thus greater is the performance loss.

Interview At My Mother, Cindy Brown Essay
I am going to interview my mother, Cindy Brown. She and my father lived in Okinawa, Japan in
1992. She lived there for six and a half months and he lived there for a year. They were there
because my father was in the military and they stayed on a military base. I had planned on doing
the interview at home and watching the videos they had taken. I was unable to do this because I
never got a chance when I went home over the weekends in the past. So instead I am going to
face time my mom and ask her the questions through that. I expect her to have a lot of culture
shocks and differences from the United States. When I grew up and where she grew up, it is such

knowing much about it or anyone there.
Okinawa is located at the southwest tip of Japan. Okinawa means rope in the open sea

diverse culture because of its blend through commerce with China, Korea, Southeast Asia, and
mainland Japan (Japan Monthly Web Magazine). The Kingdom of the Ryukyu was an independent
kingdom. The islands that make up Okinawa, are also known as the Ryukyu Islands. They are also
known as this because they are named after the native culture, which makes it particularly different
from the rest of Japan. This is because of the language, arts, cuisine, etc. (Japan guide). With a

founded and was later known as the father of psychoanalysis, it was used in treating people with
mental illnesses. Most people know psychoanalysis as the therapy/talking remedy. He would sit
his patients down and talk openly about their different emotions and problems they were currently
facing. One of Freud s cases in particular was brought to people s attention. The case of Anna O
the girls real name was Bertha, however this case was very important for Freud because it was
basically what essentially started his career. The girl he called Anna suffered from hysteria, which
is a condition in which the patient exhibits physical symptoms (e.g. paralysis, convulsions,
hallucinations, loss of speech) without apparent... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In more depth and better understanding of Freud s theory was that he believed the mind is made up
of two main parts, the conscious and unconscious mind. The conscious are all things that come
together in our minds without effort. However, the unconscious mind involves all the things that
are external to our awareness, like our hopes, dreams, wishes and worries. These things are
outside of our awareness but they still continue to impact on the way we act and the things we
may say. Freud compared the mind to an iceberg. The tip of the iceberg that is actually visible
above the water represents just a tiny portion of the mind, while the huge expanse of ice hidden
underneath the water represents the much larger unconscious. (Cherry K 2013) Freud believed
some events were so hard emotionally for some of the people to recognize that they put those awful
thoughts in their unconscious mind. Freud used a relaxing environment when seeing his patients;
he would put them almost in a deep relaxed state. The reason for this was to get the patients to

Jimmy Smith Rap
The facts of the case: Jimmy Smith, a jazz organist in the late 1900 s, released an album called
Off The Top on Elektra/Asylum in 1982. The last song on the album, titled Jimmy Smith Rap , or
JSR, was a spoken recording. Among the lyrics, it said, Jazz is the only real music that s gonna
last. All that other bullshit is here today and gone tomorrow. But jazzwas, is and always will be.
Prior to this song being released on the album, the label did not list a composer for JSR, nor was
the composition copyright registered with the U.S. Copyright Office or a performing rights
organization (Peppe, 2017).
In September of 2013, Drake released his third studio album called, Nothing Was the Same , wih

Because this purpose is sharply different from Jimmy Smith s purpose in creating the original

(Maddaus, 2017). Judge Pauley also explained that Smith s phrase is an unequivocal statement on
the primacy of jazz over all other forms of popular music, while Drake s edit turns it into a
statement that real music, with no qualifiers, is the only thing that s gonna last (Collins, 2017).
Based on this finding, the district court was able to grant the defendants summary judgement

Charles Dickens Biography
He is living proof of childhood corruption and portrays himself as his young, mischievous, and
perplexed characters Oliver Twist and David Copperfield. He proves that he is a product of the
Victorian era as he brings attention to the childhood cruelty, the less fortunate in an English society,
and the unwealthy dysfunctional families of the early Victorian time period. Charles Dickens
reflects these and other issues as he brings to life the realism of writing. While others were writing
about the way things should be, rather than the way things were, Dickens was challenging these
ideas, and argued that paupers and criminals were not evil at birth. This was an act of rebellion, for
he in fact was showing the Victorian middle class generation... Show more content on

In the Victorian era, poverty became due to many reasons; a population increase, the search of
employment, and a depressing state of the shortage of housing. All of these points had a direct
impact to why there was the less fortunate in an English society. The nineteenth century saw a
huge growth in the population of Great Britain, and this brought the poverty line lower and lower
in cities such as London. Dickens, being affected by this, had a great impact on helping the less
fortunate in the Victorian time period by bringing to life the realism of the problems that the
paupers, criminals, and just plain poor people had. He did this through showing how the wealthy
treated the poor with no respect and with cruelty through his characters such as Mr. Bumble and
Mrs. Sowerberry in Oliver Twist. Although, Dickens brings attention to how not all upper or
middle class people were always cruel to the poor, through his characters in Oliver Twist such as
Mr. Sowerberry, who was quite kind to Oliver and was uneasy about being cross with him. Along
with poverty being such an issue, there were also the unwealthy dysfunctional families of the
Victorian time period.
Charles Dickens grew up in a home where money was never a concern, until his father went
bankrupt and he was abandoned by his family which ultimately led to Dickens being a poor
orphaned boy. Dickens s dysfunctional family must have led to such families as

According to Gnoffo (2005), by the end of 2004, Forrester Research estimated there were TiVos
and other DVRs in 6.5 million US households, up from 1.9 million in 2002. That number, the
firm claims, will climb to almost 50 million by 2009, representing 41% of all US households. On
another front, the popularity of Netflix, an online subscription service boasting 3 million users,
prompted both Blockbuster and Wal Mart to offer similar services whereby people rent DVDs
for an unlimited time for a monthly fee. While it s true that DVDs may be a cash cow for
studios, theaters suffer when patrons skip the cinema experience and wait for those releases at
home. Needless to say, given the increase in entertainment options, the movie going experience
needs to be far more compelling to draw in audience members. Moreover, this challenge is not
likely to subside, but rather grow more compelling: as discussed by Charny (2005), a recent study
by Informa Research Services indicates that 125 million people about 5% of all cell phone owners
will be watching television on their handsets by 2010. In addition, the Digital Lifestyles 2006

The Issue Of Restrictions On Voter Rights
The issue of restrictions on voter rights, via registration restrains, or restrains is not a new issue
when looking back at the history of the United States of America. There have been a number of
Supreme Court cases that have dealt with laws that have attempted to hamper the ability of
minority groups to have their voices be heard at an equal volume. One example is the case,
Baker V. Carr (1962). This was about how the county lines, and therefor Congressional
representation, was greatly skewed and had not been update for many years, giving the rural voter
greater representation over that of the urban voter, who could be shown more likely to be a
minority. While there is very little new about the issue itself, there seems to have been what appears
to progress, but the case could be made that the issue is still very much alive and well, just
masquerading around the ball in a different mask. What originally brought my gaze to this topic,
was actually a segment on the topic during an episode of Last Week Tonight, With John Oliver. The
thing that stuck out the most to during this particular segment was the legislation that Oliver
brought up, and a quote that went along with it, calling the North Carolina laws being struck down
the most restrictive votinglaw North Carolina has seen since the era of Jim Crowe, and that the laws
provisions, target African Americans with almost surgical precision. While this example

Characteristics Of New England Colonies
When established, the British colonies had three divisions which are New England, Middle, and the
Southern. Each of these geographic regions had some developments which were unique and
different from other sectors. Some of the stark differences were because of geopolitical, religious,
economic, and social factors. Although all regions were marked by tremendous growth, they
experienced differences in their management style and trading pact. The New England Colonies
included the colonies of Connecticut, Colony of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations,
Massachusetts, and Province of New Hampshire. The colonies were where the Englishmen settled
and lived. Their economy, religion, and politics grew gradually due to various factors which include
the community setting where lands were separated into small portions. The settlers of the New
England traded sugar and molasses with other parts of the world. Also, this colony practiced
subsistence farming where they produced enough food for their family need. Before farming, these
colonies had small scale factories and built ships to improve their economy. They were Puritans.
They formed this religion after freeing from the Church of England. The colony also had
communities that lived close to each other and watched out on their fellows. As a result, the
Puritans lived longer and able to maintain their traditions. Politically, the colonies had the concept
of self government through the elections and the appointments. The Middle

Mating between prairie voles is a tremendous 24 hour effort. After this, they bond for life. They
prefer to spend time with each other, groom each other for hours on end and nest together. They
avoid meeting other potential mates. The male becomes an aggressive guard of the female. And
when their pups are born, they become affectionate and attentive parents. However, another vole, a
close relative called the montane vole, has no interest in partnership beyond one night stand sex.
What is intriguing is that these vast differences in behaviour are the result of a mere handful of
genes. The two vole species are more than 99% alike, genetically.
Why do voles fall in love?
The details of what is going on the vole story, as it were is a fascinating one. When prairie voles
have sex, two hormones called oxytocin and vasopressin are released. If the release of these
hormones is blocked, prairie voles sex becomes a fleeting affair, like that normally enjoyed by
their rakish montane cousins. Conversely, if prairie voles are given an injection of the hormones,
but prevented from having sex, they will still form a preference for their chosen partner. In other
words, researchers can make prairie voles fall in love or whatever the vole equivalent of this is
with an injection.
A clue to what is happening and how these results might bear on the human condition was found
when this magic juice was given to the montane vole: it made no difference. It

Examples Of Classical Job Shop Scheduling Problem
1. Introduction The classical job shop scheduling problem (JSP) is one of the major issues in
production planning that each operation is performed by the machine for finding completion

Literature Review On The Phonics

The Debate
There are a million adults who cannot read, one in six Londoners is functionally illiterate and
people who cannot read or write are excluded from opportunities and may eventually become
alienated and turn to crime (Johnson 2010, cited by Gross 2010). Gross (2010) expresses her
concern and believes it is not where the children live, it is how they were taught to read and how
they were properly motivated to learn to read. She endorses the synthetic systematic phonics
approach as opposed to that of the whole word approach and believes we must place our focus on
reading as it is indispensable.
Phonics advocates have been arguing that in order for children to learn to read, they need to
have an explicit instruction in the rules of printed text in order to read properly. The phonics
approach has been described as bottom up as it teaches the children to decode text and then the
meaning and understanding will follow while the whole word approach is described as top down,
as the children depend on the pictures within the book, form hypothesis and make predictions of
the words with the text of the book being read (Wren, 2003).
Gross (2010) state that children should systematically be taught to read through phonics and not
by memorising whole words ; by the late 1970 s teachers were no longer fond of that approach as it
was not working because children were still struggling to read, it was dull and repetitive and new
words were introduced at a

His Everlasting Moment of Intimacy Essay
In the widely acclaimed novel Catching Fire , the fictional character Peeta Mellark is quoted as
saying, I wish I could freeze this moment, right here, right now, and live in it forever. (Collins).
Coincidentally, that is what the unnamed lover in Robert Browning s dramatic monologue
Porphyria s Lover aspires to achieve when he murders his beloved Porphyria, in hopes of preserving
their intimate moment for eternity. At the start of the poem, Browning seemingly shows his
audience a loving, romantic scene of Porphyria affectionately tending her inert beau. As the

He does this when he refers to Porphyria in a peculiarly different way after she has died: The
smiling rosy little head, / So glad it has its utmost will, / And I, its love, am gained instead! (52
53, 55). The persona, through synecdoche, addresses his dead lover as only a head and continues
to objectify her by calling her it . The speaker s objectification of his beloved shows how he only
views Porphyria as an object that he owns a mere possession. He also stresses about how
Porphyria has gained him, when in actuality what he really means is that now he finally owns her
forever. This clearly illustrates his outrageous and crazy way of thinking as he fulfills his never
ending moment with Porphyria by murdering her, and diminishes her later into a simple
possession that he could do whatever he wishes to do with. Therefore, Browning makes use of
adept word choices in order to display the persona s extreme possessiveness and irrationality. In
addition, Browning blatantly uses imagery to convey the persona s deliriousness, and obsessiveness
towards his lover. In the poem, Browning noticeably visualizes the events that have just occurred in
the monologue, while at the same time he effectively illustrates the underlying meaning behind its
imagery to reveal the persona s nature. It is visualized in the piece, Blushed bright beneath my
burning kiss; (48). If

The History of Abortion
Abortion is a medical practice to terminate a woman s pregnancy in the first 3 months. The
history of abortion starts father before the pinnacle case of Roe v Wade in 1973. The supreme

american health care policies for women. Before this court case to render it legal it had been
performed for thousands of years and in every society known. It was legal when settlers first came

Rather than opening to the real claim the American Medical Association (AMA) argued that
abortion was dangerous and immoral. The only way to get an abortion was when it was
necessary to save a woman s life and this would be a legal abortion. Criminalized abortion did not
affect the number of women that seeked abortion. There was an estimated 1.2 million illegal
abortions a year before Roe v Wade. Although this is uncertain due to the thousands of women
that suffered harm during these illegal abortions. Many women would try to induce abortion or
go to mal practitioners with primitive methods and in unsanitary conditions. Hospitals cared for
thousands of women that had illegal abortions that were now suffering terrible effects of
abortion. SOme women were able to have a private doctor in better conditions provide the safer

be rid of abortion laws. Although the right to have abortion in all states happened in 1973 when the
supreme court was able to strike down those laws. Roe v. Wademade it possible for women to get
safe and legal abortion from professional trained medical practitioners. This case came out of a

into the vast horizons of globalization, the conflict has built up tremendous momentum and has
called into question the adequacy of our current attempts at coming to a peaceful resolution that can
simultaneously and successfully address both sides of the struggle. The purpose of this paper has
been to understand the prospect of a two state nation solution for Israeland Palestine. The
discussion arises a retrospective view of the context behind the present analysis. We begin with a
discourse that informs the reader of the historical narrative between the Jewish inhabitants of Israel
and the Palestinians who also seek to live in the lands which comprise Israel. At the forefront of the
discussion are some key issues such as trends in Israeli settlementexpansion over time, the manner
in which these settlements create political challenges towards the prospect of a two state solution,
and the fragmentation of power within Palestinian political parties which inhibit the opportunity for
proper negotiations amongst the two parties. Finally, we delve into a discussion on nationalism, it s
importance in the discussion of a two state solution, and the challenges posed when trying to

Hamstring Cramps
Your hamstrings are muscle group located on the rear of each upper thigh. It s common to
experience tight, strained or cramped hamstrings, which can occur for several reasons. Upon
dealing with hamstring cramps, take steps to prevent them from occurring again. Before trying any
new exercise or treatment, talk to your doctor and have your condition properly diagnosed.
Muscle Fatigue
Hamstring cramps are common among people who are unconditioned and those who participate in
seasonal intense sports, reports the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. During strenuous
bouts of exercise, your hamstring muscles can fatigue and cramp due to the muscles not getting
enough oxygen. When they lack oxygen, your hamstring muscles will contract and spasm
involuntarily. Thorough stretching, and then starting out slowly and gradually working up to a
more intense level of exercise, can help avoid these types of cramps.

People who are sedentary can find their hamstring muscles feel tight or hard. Hamstring cramps
due to tight muscles can happen when you are active, sitting or lying down. A daily program of

It is equally important to properly warm up before and cool down after any activity.
Heat and Humidity
Exercising in hot, humid conditions can lead to hamstring cramps. When your body loses too
much fluid through excessive sweating, you can also develop an electrolyte imbalance. Substances
such as calcium, potassium and others are necessary to help your muscles contract properly. If
your body is low in any of these substances either through a poor diet or dehydration your muscles

Rhetorical Analysis Of Ted Russell s Son Lost The Fight...
On December 29, 2006, Connie Russell s son lost the fight for his life. Matt was a bright, twenty
one year old senior at Florida State University. His love of scuba diving inspired Matt to want to
become a marine biologist in Australia. However, these dreams would never come true. As
Russell painfully recounts, Matt had been traveling with friends to scuba in West Palm Beach.
However, on I 95, a drunk driver suddenly came out of nowhere and struck Matt s car and
significantly injured him. Seven days later, Matt was gone. Although Russell lost her son more

killed. Although some may claim drunk drivers do not mean to take lives, Russell believes
otherwise. In fact, Russell was able to convince the audience through the use of rhetorical
appeals that her son s death was a choice, and not an accident. Since her son s passing, Russell
has decided it is up to her to stop this growing epidemic. While many may believe her
presentation would resonate with other parents, Russell has explained otherwise. In fact, Russell

Creatine Use Must be Banned Essay

Illegal substances have been used widely by athletes in hop es of achieving the desired Olympic

1970s and 1980s, have mandated the use of steroids by their athletes. The downside of using those

The transformation of creatine into energy occurs within the first few seconds of exertion. Creatine
supplements are artificially made creatine that can be taken by athletes as ergogens, substances that
can be used by athletes to enhance performance. Artificially made creatine is available as powder,
capsules, candy, and gum. The goal of creatine supplementation is to increase the energy in the
muscles so that athletes can improve their strength, speed, and endurance.
Although creatine is fairly expensive (fifty dollars for a one month supply), the original results of
creatine testing and usage were very positive. Creatine supplementation helps the body by
increasing the amount of creatine in the muscles, thus enabli ng the body to put out more energy
more quickly. It was first discovered in the early 1900s, before creatine supplements were available,
that increasing dietary creatine in turn increases the amount of creatine in the muscles (Jenkins).
Supplementation of creatine in the diet leads to even higher levels of muscular creatine. Research
has confirmed this. Current data indicate that muscle creatine levels increase, on average, 20% after
six days of creatine supplementation at twenty grams per day (Eichne r 76). This increase of
creatine in the muscles in turn increases the body s potential for exertion. Once creatine
supplements were tested in humans, those increases were

Emotional Intelligence And Self Awareness Essay
Introduction
Emotional intelligence is conceptualized as a person s ability to overcome stress, communicate
effectively, understand others, cope with challenges, and solve conflicts by identifying, using,
understanding, and managing their emotions positively (Gines, 2015). Emotional intelligence
allows individuals to understand others, without necessarily talking to them. This understanding is
vital since it influences the way we relate with other people. Emotional intelligence can be defined
using four components which include self awareness, self management, social awareness, and
relationship management (Segal, Smith, Shubin, 2016). The essay focuses on these four
components and the skills that help in building emotional intelligence.
Components of Emotional Intelligence
Self awareness involves the ability to understand and evaluate your own emotions through
reflection, self comparisons and feedback from others (Steiner, 2014). Self awareness aims at
enhancing self knowledge, behavioral, and emotional improvements, and accommodating
weaknesses (Steiner, 2014). It allows individuals to understand how they think, behave, and
respond to situations that they encounter. To achieve this, feedback from other people is required.
People who are self aware are self driven, resourceful, eager to learn, self motivated, and problem
solvers. They also portray independence of self concept (Steiner, 2014). Self awareness helps an
individual to practice effective self management.

Thus having lab created predators that are unnatural make pollinating a lot harder. Most people
have an aversion to bees, that probably goes back to childhood. Bees in general have created a
bad outlook of them, but they all play an essential role, especially the honey bees. Bees live in a
matriarchal society and everyone of them has their own duties. Without the Queen bee, bees
don t know what to do and can lose a colony of 50,000 80,000 bees. They live in nests called
Hives and within the hive are 3 branches of bees. The drones are males that come and go
through different hives to mate with queens, they have no stinger and once they mate with a
queen then they will die. The worker bees are 90% females that live to work in the hives by
producing wax layers called Honeycomb and supply the queen with anything she needs, they live

Child Athletes
Modern society has many ills plaguing it. Some of these ills include excess stress and
unacceptable behavior, both of which can be caused by the same thing: unhealthy placement of
sports in modern society. By sports being considered practically ideal in society, many child
athletes suffer from pressure to win and numerous people suffer from the poor behavior exhibited
by certain adult athletes. Most children s sports leagues begin with children around the age of 5
because that is the age where most children are able to understand the concepts and rules of sports.
This is also when children are most influenced by the world around them. When children are signed

However, some athletes don t lose the feeling of aggression and intimidation after they leave the
field. Studies have been conducted to assess whether aggressive behavior and violence can be
linked to athletes, specifically male athletes. Studies by the NCAVA have shown that on some
campuses, male athletes make up one third of assaults. Although being only one third leaves a
majority of the assaults to being committed by non athletes, the athletes are striving to become
professional. Professional athletes are idolized far more than the average person, and therefore they
must know how to behave themselves, follow the rules/laws, and be a good role

Meat Vs Red Meat Research Paper
Everyone loves meat, after all, meat tastes good and offers us various healthy nutrients. However,
people often argue about which is better, red or white meat. Of course, not only nutrition is a factor,
but also taste and methods of cooking.
Myoglobin Makes Meat Red
You may be wondering, what gives red meatits characteristic color? Quite a simple answer, its
slow twitch fibers contain more myoglobin, the molecules which transport oxygen from the
bloodstream to muscles. Hence, muscles that an animal often utilizes becomes darker and reddish.
For example, an ostrich consistently runs, so its muscles are quite active, explaining its red meat.
As for white meat, it has less myoglobin since these muscles are utilized less frequently and in short
bursts. Its fast twitch fibers work during emergency situations, and not in routine activity. For
example, chicken breasts are whiter than ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Furthermore, it takes a short amount of time to prepare these meals. However, when it comes to
taste, red meat has a deeper flavor than white thanks to the fat content. White meat tends to be bland
and requires the taste of other sauces and toppings to make it taste good.
Eat Both Types for More Nutrition
Eating small amounts of both types of meat will offer you the best of both worlds. You may add
pork and beef to your stew to make it well rounded. Or, you may opt for a meat smoothie in
which you can throw in various types of meat. Doing so may require a power blender, so check
(insert site) to compare the top quality models.
Conclusion
Red meat has its color thanks to dense myoglobin percentage, while white lacks them. Although red
meat has higher fat content, it compensates by having more vitamins and minerals. Furthermore, it
has a richer flavor thanks to having more fat. However, the healthier option is to eat small amounts
of both to get the best of both

Williams Honors College Experience Essay
The Williams Honors College was extremely influential in my college experience. The Williams
Honors College provided me with peers, mentors, and experiences that allowed me to have an
unforgettable college experience.
My first experience with the University of Akron was through an Honors Scholarship Friday.
When I came to campus for that event as a high school senior, I went through a series of interviews.
These interviews, despite being nerve wracking, provided me with a first hand opportunity to
interact with and ask questions about the Honors College at the University of Akron. As someone
who was very interested in studying business, I had my heart set on Miami University. My mind
quickly opened after my exposure to the then University ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

With this lesson in mind, I joined the Phi Delta Theta fraternity, which deepened my friendships
and enthusiasm for service. Through Phi Delta Theta, I also had a chance to meet passionate
University of Akron alumni who deepened my commitment to the Akron community. I also sought
out internships earlier than most students in my field, and was able to complete two before entering
my senior year. During the summer following my sophomore year, I was honored to have the
opportunity to complete an internship with the J.M. Smucker Company. More recently, I completed
an internship with Ernst Young, LLP, one of the four largest professional services firms in the
world, where I will be working full time upon graduation. I would not have had the knowledge or
the confidence to pursue these opportunities without the mentoring I received through the Williams
Honors College.
Though the Williams Honors College had a tremendous impact on my undergraduate days, I am
very excited about how it will impact my future. The Honors College has deepened my
commitment to the University of Akron and the greater Akron community. Though neither of my
parents are from Akron, they moved me here when I was two years old. Akron is my home and
my time at the University has secured my roots. I am appreciative of everything the Williams
Honors College has given me, and I cannot wait to give some of that back to the University of
Akron and the Williams Honors College in the

Essay About Anger
Review of Related Literature
Anger or wrath is an intense emotional response. It is an emotion that involves a strong
uncomfortable and emotional response to a perceived provocation, hurt or threat.
Anger can occur when a person feels their personal boundaries are being or going to be violated.
Some have a learned tendency to react to anger through retaliation as a way of coping.
Anger is used as a protective mechanism to cover up fear, hurt or sadness. Anger becomes the
predominant feeling behaviorally, cognitively, and physiologically when a person makes the
conscious choice to take action to immediately stop the threatening behavior of another outside
force.
The external expression of anger can be found in facial expressions, body language, physiological
responses, and at times public acts of aggression. Animals, for example, make loud sounds, attempt
to look physically larger, bare their teeth, and stare. The behaviors associated with anger are
designed to warn aggressors to stop their ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

My Note On My Mother Gift
My Mothers Gift
Without the ability to read and comprehend information society as we know it would begin to
become stagnant and our ability to progress in thought and philosophy would be abated.
Fortunately the gift of reading was given to me at a young age. It began with me being taught to
comprehend uncomplicated text and through practice and patience over time evolved into more
sophisticated pieces of literature. The importance of reading and comprehending information was
instilled in me by mother. Specifically, one time she sat me down and explained why she did what
she did in regards to having me read and be quizzed on additional material given by her in
conjunction to my normal schooling. Her impactful explanation has shaped my ... Show more

Now I feel as though it cannot be stressed enough the enormous benefits and advantages I have
received by listening to my mom that day. My capability to read and comprehend a diverse
amount of material can be traced back to her essentially convincing me to buy into what she was
saying. For me learning to read effectively at a young age has proven to be one of the most
invaluable skills I could have ever attained and has shaped who I am today. Once you learn to
read, you will be forever free (Frederick Douglass). The liberating power one attains when you
learn to read and process an array of information is second to none. This was somewhat of a
difficult concept for eight year old me to understand, however, my mom sat me down and
explained to me what she meant. She said that those who have the ability to read effectively
have opportunities that are only available to individuals who possess that skill. She then turned
into the equivalent of a car salesman and began to list off the numerous benefits of being a
competent reader. After about five minutes of what felt like her rambling on and on about
reading benefits I was ready to fall asleep. Picking up on this she gave me a personal narrative,

I Know Why The Caged Bird Sings Meaning
There is no greater agony than bearing an untold story inside you. By Maya Angelou, I Know
Why the Caged Bird Sings. This is the quote my mom has been telling me every day since I was
13 and able to understand it. Maya Angelou wrote this poem in 1969 and it still speaks to
millions of people today. Millions of people who have everything to say but never speak. This is
just one example, my example on how relatable poems are even if they are hundreds of years
old. Being able to relate to a poem after such a huge time gap in what makes a poem timeless and
even the poet in specific cases. To be timeless means to not be affected by the passage of time or
changes in fashion. Timeless is beautiful and rare in a world where everything is constantly
revolutionizing.
Maya Angelou is timeless. I find her work to also be timeless even as she explains that the utmost
pain you can endure is the pain of bottling up emotions and experience s you would rather just
bury then verbalize in I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings. This simply speaks volume and can be
applied in any era of time. In the 1800 s in particular states men could legally beat their wife with
anything item no wider then a thumb and I m sure women kept quiet about it because they would
believe no one would care because it was technically legal. Women of today s era would keep
domestic violence situations and their own emotions about that traumatic experience bottled up for
several different reasons. The woman or man could

baby sister were present while I was with him. We sat down and I handed the infant a small
container filled with different size blocks. Immediately he grabbed the container, poured out the
blocks and began to build a tower quickly. Once he was done creating the tower of blocks, a few
seconds later he knocked it down vigorously and started all over again. Then, I handed him a red
crayon and a blank sheet of paper, but instead of writing on the paper he went up to the wall and
scribbles spontaneously. Next, his language is still developing at this point. I showed him a
stuffed animal dog and asked him if he could identify it and tell me what it is. The infant gazed
at it and responded woof, woof, woof! He responded by what the dog sounds like. Secondly, I
asked him to point out his body parts. For example, his ears, eyes and belly button. That moment
I said belly button he pointed at it. He was able to repeat names and his toys that he owned. As I

Planet Mercury Research Paper
Is Mercury A Volatile Planet? Introduction: In class, the lecture notes on the planet Mercury in
section 11.1 The Terrestrial Planets is composed of a brief overview of the characteristics of the
planet compared to other planets in our solar system. I became curious about Mercury due to the
fact that it is the closest planet to the sun and decided to look further into the information that
has been collected about Mercury. Search Log: Based on what I knew from the first journey
entry I wrote, I decided to forgo using Google to find an article about Mercury. I went straight to
the VCU Libraries website and typed Mercury into the search bar. I refined the results that were
displayed by selecting to view only peer reviewed articles. Then, I refined the search to include...

While MESSENGER was in orbit around Mercury, the Gamma ray spectrometer indicated a ratio
similar to Mars saying that Mercury is as volatile rich as the other terrestrial planets. In the present
study, newly obtained Gamma ray spectrometer data along with data from the X ray spectrometer
on MESSENGER is being used to re examine the volatile element inventory of Mercury. Elements
were directly measured by the MESSENGER instruments, which were used in calculations to make
estimates on the composition of the interior of the planet. Based on the Gamma ray spectrometer
the ratios measured from the surface implies that Mercury is volatile rich compared to some other
terrestrial planets. However, Mercury is the most reduced of the terrestrial planets and elements that
typically behave as lithophile elements may behave differently in an oxygen starved magmatic
system like Mercury. In conclusion, even with the data that has been collected, scientists cannot

European Expansion And Chinese Decline In The 1400s
European Expansion and Chinese Decline in the 1400 s Describing China s influence as massive
would be an understatement. For centuries, China had been the world s superpower, in terms of
technological growth, financial security, and military might. By the end of the 1400 s however,
that title had been transferred to Europe. A continent once exclusively known for its now fallen
Roman Empire suddenly proves to be the primary actor on the global stage. To this very day,
historians argue over a deceptively simple question: what changed? A series of political power
struggles, threats from the North, and financial instability drove Chinaback from its former glory,
while Europe used the existing Silk Road and Indian Ocean trading systems to launch their
success. Historians attempt to simplify the fall the fall of China. Often, the dismantling of the
treasure fleet is pointed out as the culprit. In the early 1400s, there were 3,500 vessels in China s
fleet; by 1440, that number had been drastically reduced (Levathes 174). Some historians refer to
the event as the single greatest foreign policy blunder in history. Such a statement is a gross over
exaggeration. The treasure fleet fell as a symptom, not a cause, of a failing China. After the death
of emperor Zhu Zhanji in 1435, China fell victim to a political power struggle between two warring
factions: the eunuchs and the Confucians (Levathes 175). Zhu Zhanji ruled with an iron fist, and
kept both parties in check. He held

Adolf Hitler s Influence On His Deeds During World War...
Hitler
Adolf Hitler has the image of having a ruthless evil character from his deeds during world war
two. However evidences show that he was not a terribly evil person, but a normal person with
large ambitions. Canadian prime minister Mackenzie King wrote in his journal after meeting with
Adolf Hitler that, he is really one who truly loves his fellow men, and his country, and would make
any sacrifice for their good...a man of deep sincerity and a genuine patriot, which all shows he was
naturally a good person with a genuine ambition of wanting to create a better environment for
himself and the country. In January 1933, Adolf Hitlercame to power in Germany and immediately
began to challenge the Treaty of Versailles and adapt an aggressive foreign policy, which led to war
.
It is not hard to blame Adolf Hitler for starting the war, however looking at evidences show that he
was naturally a good person that was not taught or at the very least did not bother to realize the
importance of learning to control his ambitions to not reach the level of selfish greediness. Hence
ambition is needed to proceed forward but the control of it must be taught to refrain from these
event occurring.
Napoleon
Napoleon was very ambitious to the point where it was greedy as shown in history books of his
many battles. The historians hold divergent views regarding the motives behind these battles.
According to them his chief motives for his wars are dynastic advancement, high ambition,

West Nile Virus Essay
By learning about different viruses in class, it sparked my interest in further researching a common
virus known to the word called West Nile virus. Affiliated with the genus Flavivirus, this virus can
be transported globally due to being classified as a mosquito borne arbovirus1. Mosquitoes,
belonging to the genus Culex, can facilitate the transportation of this pathogen by consuming the
bloodof an infected bird, being the main reservoir, and then passing it on to another animal or
human1 3. Mosquitoactivity is at its peak during the months of summer and autumn, therefore these
months depict the most cases of West Nile virus4. Humans play no role in the transportation as

Majority of the infections, around 80%, can be categorized as asymptomatic but this is not the
case for all5. West Nile fever, indicated by fever, headache, nausea etc, can develop in
approximately 20% of the infected people5. In rare cases, less than 1% of disease ridden
individuals can actually develop more serious conditions like meningitis, encephalitis, and acute
flaccid paralysis5. Classified as neuroinvasive diseases, these clinical conditions are more prone
to occur in older individuals exceeding the age of 605. This doesn t exclude the population
ranging from newborns to middle aged as it hasn t been proclaimed that they are immune to
developing some of these disorders6. Overall, people infected with this virus will either experience
mild symptoms or might have to deal with more serious problems.
Surviving the neuroinvasive diseases does not mean that the battle is to be presumed over.
Through many reports, it has been stated that people still experienced symptoms of the West Nile
virus even a year after the diagnosis was made3. Long term consequences of the disease can be
mental health problems such as depression, tremors, headaches, muscle and motor weakness and
etc3. But researches have yet to come to a conclusion whether these consequences are due to the
damage done by the virus or the body s own immune

Go Set A Watchman, By Harper Lee
Prompt #5 In the book Go Set A Watchman , Dr. Finch said not much more than 5% of the South
ever saw a slave, much less owned one. to Jean Louise. This statement brings the idea of slavery
away from the racist views which are clearly present in characters like Dr. Finch and Grady O
Hanlon. Although the validity of this statement is questionable, the impact slaveryhad on society in
this country is clear. Slavery impacted many aspects of society, including the people of Maycomb,
the views of the Southern/Northern states, and racial tension in today s society.
The statement made by Dr. Finch was, in fact, inaccurate. When you look at the results of the 1860
census, you see that the overall percent of families owning slaves is only 8% in the United States as
a whole(CivilWar.net). However, in his statement from the book, he specifically said not much
more than 5% of the South ever saw a slave, much less owned one. The keywords in this
statement were South and Saw . Both of these words can be disproved by the 1860 census. If
you were to look at the different states separately, you would see that almost all southern states
were at or above 25% when looking at families who own slaves. This proves that much more than
5% of the south owned slaves. However, if you were to look at the data as a whole, you would
be mislead by thinking this 8% was a representation of the south. This is most likely what Dr.
Finch s error was when saying this. This is why I do believe that

  • 2. The Myth About Hephaestus The myth about Hephaestus had many connections which relate to real life and society. The connection I made while reading the myth were that looks do not matter, everyone has a talent and hard work. Hera gave up her son, Hephaestus because he looked ugly and deformed without knowing his personality. This took place during the Unusual Birth part of the hero cycle. Herahad seen how her son looked deformed so she threw him into the sea where a Sea God caught him and took care of him. In real life many people judge each other by how they look without actually getting to know them. Hephaestus was just born and Hera had no idea about his talents in Blacksmith and metal work. The second connection I made was that everyone has a talent or something ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

We often hear stories about the famous Iron Brigade and its tenacious fighting ability or of the fighting 69th Irish Regiment of New York but many historians have overlooked the epic sacrifices Southern soldiers endured. Sure, everyone has heard of Robert E. Lee or Stonewall Jackson, but the men under their command are the reasons for their fame. Many times, the men from a certain geographical region are grouped together, whose combined regiments formed brigades. (28th)7 The following year, after the Confederate state of South Carolina captured Fort Sumter on April 7, 1861, much of this sentiment quickly changed in response to President Lincoln s calling for 75,000 volunteers to invade the South and put down the rebellion. (28th)7 Governor John W. Ellis of North Carolina quickly replied to President Lincoln, denying him troops from his state citing him with infringing the constitution. The Governor then called for 30,000 state volunteers and quickly seized Federal forts Caswell and Johnston, the Federal arsenal at Fayetteville, and the United States mint at Charlotte until the state could hold a convention to decide on the secession question. (28th)7 The Secession Convention convened on May 20, 1861 which consisted of 120 elected delegates from each county. The same day, they voted to secede from the Union, thus joining the Confederate States in the war for Southern Independence. The Unionist sentiment within the state had truly changed and with it, her hopes for peace! North Carolina was now at war! The state, ill prepared as she was, scrambled to form an army. In all regions of the state, men young and old flocked to join their neighbors as soldiers. The 28th North Carolina Volunteer Infantry Regiment was formed near High Point, NC at Camp Fisher. They both were Presidents in the United States of America at some point in time. They each have served many years as some sort of governor with Jackson being the military governor of Florida and Roosevelt being the governor of New York. Roosevelt and Jackson were major influences towards this country. But even with those similarities between them they were two men with differences. The above affect the pricing of the product and how the product is advertised, for example. Methods of conducting business are altered by these cultural concerns. Technological This refers to the means and the methods used to produce the product or the service supplied (Worthington and Britton, 2009). Although this involves more than information technology, IT is becoming increasingly important. An organisation needs to know what technologies are being used by its competitors in order to remain in the market and not fall behind. To make its product more accessible to customers, a firm must also know what technologies are being used by them and how these technologies affect the firm s procedures. In a time where customers can read information on or buy products from firms around the globe, business conduct must adapt to technologies. The society forces people s talents to be equal, so no one would have an advantage. This includes their strength, intelligence, and beauty. The society would call it the Golden Age of Equality however Harrison would disagree with that statement. 2081 and the real society can be very different on how they treat the extraordinary and their meaning for handicap, while at the same time they can both be similar like how they both have punishments and there s a type of policeforce to keep citizens safe. In the beginning of 2081, its states, The strong wore weights to make them weaker; the intelligent wore earpieces that kept them from taking unfair advantage of their brains, Even the beautiful, sometimes wore masks in situations where their beauty might simply be too distracting. This explains how the society in 2081 brings down the intelligent, the strong, and the beautiful, preventing them to reveal any of those qualities. However, the real world rewards all of the things that the government in 2081 tries to hide. For example, in a high school graduation the school would give recognition to the valedictorian, which encourages students to do better in academics. While in 2081, they would not honor or give recognition the intelligent, instead they would try to make them more unwise, so no one would see the person s real capabilities. The real society would never attempt to make a student more unwise like how the society in 2081 would. Our school system encourages for improvement on test scores or grades, and not disprovement. In 2081, the society has a different perspective of a handicapped person from the real world. The real world views a handicap person as someone with a disadvantage while in 2081 they view it as someone who has an advantage. In 2081, Harrison was considered, handicap even though he was a genius and strong. However, this is different to the real society because a handicap person today, would be someone with a physical or mental problem such as someone who can barely walk. However as much as it boast its majestic greatness it is not without scars. It has been colonized and stripped off of its resources and people due to imperialism. Imperial expansion into Africa, costing taxpayers dearly, provided poor and precarious markets (Hobson 1970:152) . Lenin, however, focuses on the role of finance capital in the over ripening of capitalism the highest stage of capitalism that will lead to capitalism s inevitable fall. The goal of both Hobson and Lenin s accounts of Imperialism was to provide the world with a critical economic rationale for the social phenomenon Imperialism, which they succeeded. Hobson and Lenin s accounts of Imperialism were unquestionably similar: they both accorded economic concentration to the birth of this social phenomenon; they both understood the importance of monopolies in its growth; they agreed that the world would be split this essay has, however, emphasized two fundamental differences between Hobson and Lenin. • 14. Roman Catholic Influence On Ireland Research Paper Influence of Roman Catholicism in Ireland could be dated back to around 400 AD where the majority of the population were Roman Catholics. Ironically, the ones who held the power and land were the immigrant Protestant minorities from England. They united with the English to force a series of discriminatory inheritance laws through Parliament. The laws effectively broke up large Catholic estates and placed them under the mercy of rapidly consolidating Protestant landowners. This presented a result that the Catholics, who in 1641 had control of 59% of the land after nearly 60 years in 1703, held merely 14% (Baker). The Protestants found ways to deprive Catholics of any right to serve in the Parliament or administration through legal means. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The major dificulty encountered due to extensive use of parallelism is the existence of branch instructions in the set of instructions presented to the processor for execution: both conditional and unconditional branch instructions in the pipeline. If the instructions under execution in the pipeline does not bring any change in the control flow of the program, then there is no problem at all. However, when the branch instruction puts the program under execution to undergo a change in the flow of control, the situation becomes a topic of concern as the branch instruction breaks the sequential flow of control, leading to a situation what is called pipeline stall and levying heavy penalties on processing in the form of execution delays, breaks in the program flow and overall performance drop. Changes in the control flow affects the processor performance because many processor cycles must be wasted in ushing the pipeline already loaded with instructions from wrong locations and again reading in the new set of instructions from right address. It is well known that in a highly parallel computer system, branch instructions can break the smooth flow of instruction fetching, decoding and execution. This results in delay, because the instruction issuing must often wait until the actual branch outcome is known. To make things worse, the deeper the pipelining, more is the delay, and thus greater is the performance loss. Branch predictors ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

These things are outside of our awareness but they still continue to impact on the way we act and the things we may say. Freud compared the mind to an iceberg. The tip of the iceberg that is actually visible above the water represents just a tiny portion of the mind, while the huge expanse of ice hidden underneath the water represents the much larger unconscious. All of these points had a direct impact to why there was the less fortunate in an English society. The nineteenth century saw a huge growth in the population of Great Britain, and this brought the poverty line lower and lower in cities such as London. Dickens, being affected by this, had a great impact on helping the less fortunate in the Victorian time period by bringing to life the realism of the problems that the paupers, criminals, and just plain poor people had. He did this through showing how the wealthy treated the poor with no respect and with cruelty through his characters such as Mr. Bumble and Mrs. Sowerberry in Oliver Twist. The Issue Of Restrictions On Voter Rights The issue of restrictions on voter rights, via registration restrains, or restrains is not a new issue when looking back at the history of the United States of America. There have been a number of Supreme Court cases that have dealt with laws that have attempted to hamper the ability of minority groups to have their voices be heard at an equal volume. One example is the case, Baker V. Carr (1962). This was about how the county lines, and therefor Congressional representation, was greatly skewed and had not been update for many years, giving the rural voter greater representation over that of the urban voter, who could be shown more likely to be a minority. While there is very little new about the issue itself, there seems to have been what appears to progress, but the case could be made that the issue is still very much alive and well, just masquerading around the ball in a different mask. What originally brought my gaze to this topic, was actually a segment on the topic during an episode of Last Week Tonight, With John Oliver. The thing that stuck out the most to during this particular segment was the legislation that Oliver brought up, and a quote that went along with it, calling the North Carolina laws being struck down the most restrictive votinglaw North Carolina has seen since the era of Jim Crowe, and that the laws provisions, target African Americans with almost surgical precision. Literature Review On The Phonics Literature Review The Debate There are a million adults who cannot read, one in six Londoners is functionally illiterate and people who cannot read or write are excluded from opportunities and may eventually become alienated and turn to crime (Johnson 2010, cited by Gross 2010). Gross (2010) expresses her concern and believes it is not where the children live, it is how they were taught to read and how they were properly motivated to learn to read. She endorses the synthetic systematic phonics approach as opposed to that of the whole word approach and believes we must place our focus on reading as it is indispensable. Phonics advocates have been arguing that in order for children to learn to read, they need to have an explicit instruction in the rules of printed text in order to read properly. The phonics approach has been described as bottom up as it teaches the children to decode text and then the meaning and understanding will follow while the whole word approach is described as top down, as the children depend on the pictures within the book, form hypothesis and make predictions of the words with the text of the book being read (Wren, 2003). Gross (2010) state that children should systematically be taught to read through phonics and not by memorising whole words ; by the late 1970 s teachers were no longer fond of that approach as it was not working because children were still struggling to read, it was dull and repetitive and new words were introduced at a ... The speaker s objectification of his beloved shows how he only views Porphyria as an object that he owns a mere possession. He also stresses about how Porphyria has gained him, when in actuality what he really means is that now he finally owns her forever. This clearly illustrates his outrageous and crazy way of thinking as he fulfills his never ending moment with Porphyria by murdering her, and diminishes her later into a simple possession that he could do whatever he wishes to do with. • 38. Emotional Intelligence And Self Awareness Essay Introduction Emotional intelligence is conceptualized as a person s ability to overcome stress, communicate effectively, understand others, cope with challenges, and solve conflicts by identifying, using, understanding, and managing their emotions positively (Gines, 2015). Emotional intelligence allows individuals to understand others, without necessarily talking to them. This understanding is vital since it influences the way we relate with other people.
