Karl Marx
A century and a half ago, Karl Marx established a theory that today is known as the backbone to
modern socialism and communism. Marx viewed the early capitalism of his own day as inherently
exploitive. At the core of capitalist production is what is considered surplus value, the value left over
after the producer (in Marx s case, factory owner) had paid the fixed costs of production such as raw
materials, machinery, overhead and wages. The left over amount was kept as profit, a profit that Marx
saw that was earned from the sweat of the labor. Derived from his idea of surplus value was that of
alienation. Marx gave an economic interpretation to alienation. People were alienated from their own
labor; their work was appropriated by someone ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In realizing that the capitalist had a new tool with which they could barter or trade, they also realized
they now had an effective tool to keep the cost of the labor commodity down and in effect control
those of the labor community that would become trouble for the new way of doing things in this new
capitalist, industrial, power creating realm. The first casualty was and is always the worker in a
capitalist society, according to Marx. See, first of all, Marx saw the many workers as victims who
were or are taking advantage of by the owners of the factories and other means of production to satisfy
the gain of profit by the few capitalists. Marx argued that under capitalism labor seldom receives more
than bare subsistence. According to Marx, the surplus remaining is appropriated by the capitalists as
their profits. This was a belief that many laborers, trying to organize to obtain better wages and work
conditions during early commercial capitalism, held and acted upon.
Arguing that the history of all hitherto existing society is the history of class struggles, (500) and that
liberal governments and ideology were merely agents of the exploiting owners of property, Marx
advocated the abolition of private property and predicted the demise of capitalism after a series of
recurring crises. The abolition of property, and therefore of class

Oil Sand in Alberta
Alberta is a province that is rich and abundant in natural resources such as oil sands. What are oil
sands? Oil reserves play a very important role in the Canadian economy. Oil sands from areas such as
Alberta have been described as Canadians greatest buried energy treasure by popular magazines such
as Time magazine. Oil sands are a naturally existing mixture of sand, clay and other materials such as
water and bitumen. Some materials in oil sands including bitumen are highly viscous that they need to
be treated and refined before they can be used by industrial sites in order to produce fuels such as
gasoline. Oil sands can be refined to make oil. There are approximately 170.4 billion barrels of oil that
can be used in the Northern part of Alberta. Approximately 80% of the oil sands can be recovered
through the In situ production. 20% of the 80% is oil that can be recovered and purified by mining.
Bitumen, a highly viscous material in oil sands is found by mining 90% of the time. While oil sands
have a positive effect on us, it has a very negative effect on the environment. Oil sands have a very
negative effect on aquatic ecosystems all around the world. Oil sands use up a lot of the water and
energy. At present, two to five barrels of natural and recycled water are needed for every barrel of oil
produced for mining. Oil sand project affect the natural aquatic ecosystems. Some of the negative
effects oil sands have on aquatic ecosystems are that sometimes oil sands

The Legend Of The ANZAC Legend
Ww1 IS regarded as one of the significant and fundamental event in history. It occurred due to the
assassination of the heir to the throne of the Austro Hungarian Empire on 28 June 1914(Stephen
Tonge). The countries were divided to two main powers called Central power where German and
Austria were included and Allied power where England and Russia and Australia fought for the
mother country England .One 25 April 1915, Australia sent troops to Gallipoli to fight against Turkish
.But accidently they landed at the amiss place which made them suffer from the under fire, and the
ANZAC legend was generated there. Although there was no military victory, the Australians displayed
great courage, mateship and endurance. The stories of these qualities are the proof of ANZAC legend s
undoubtable accurate portrayal of Australia s fighting men in WW1.
Mateship is one of fundamental quality which represents the ANZAC legend. Mateship was showed
through the experience of trench, warfare, concentration camps, injury, forced labour, and the bored
man and terror of war. The story of the brave solider Simpson was a great example of the mateship
through these experiences. The Return Services League of Australia WA Branch Incorporated which
quotes The courage of a stretcher bearer named Simpson who, with his donkey, risked bombs and
bullets week after week to carry the wounded to safety only to finally lose his own life on the beach of
ANZAC Cove, will never be forgotten. And, Win or

The Effect Of Transfer Pricing On Shareholders Of...
Transfer pricing assist companies in allocating their profits among the various countries in which they
operate. However, we found that in recent years, multinational corporations have been taking
advantage of the arm s length principle to transfer intellectual property that is difficult to value in
order to avoid taxes in high tax jurisdictions. This poses an ethical dilemma for executives of
corporations on whether or not they are paying their fair share of taxes and raises the question on how
the U.S. government can reform the current system in place to encourage companies to behave
ethically.
We examine the effects of transfer pricing on shareholders of multinational corporations and the
United States government through a case study on Apple. Apple was able to successfully dodge
billions of taxes in the U.S. through the use of aggressive transfer pricing with their Irish subsidiaries.
We found that Apple was never fined by the IRS because they were exploiting a loophole in the arm s
length principle. While shareholders stand to profit from aggressive transfer pricing practices, they
must be aware of the risk that aggressive transfer pricing imposes and be aware of companies
motivations and morals for engaging in transfer pricing.
The negative financial effects on the government were evident and we propose a three part solution to
restructure the rules for transfer pricing to promote multinationals to act morally. First, we propose
that the IRS get rid of the

Side Effects Of Opioids
Side effects of ergotamine includes nausea, tingling sensations, cramps, chest or abdominal pain, and
dizziness. Three potential, and possibly fatal, problems include toxicity, extreme blood vessel
constriction, and fibrosis. Doctors may advise taking painkillers that contain opioids if the attack is
very severe. Examples of opioids include morphine, codeine, meperidine, and oxycodone.
Butorphanol is an opioid that is available as a nasal spray. Classic side effects of opioids include
drowsiness, nausea, judgement impairment, and constipation. Drug abuse and addiction are a big
complication of using opioids as a treatment option. Metoclopramide is used in combination with

Migraine headaches are the third most prevalent illness in the world, and ranked as the sixth most
disabling illness. Statistics show that only about fifty percent of people who suffer from chronic
headaches know that they re suffering from a migraine. 76% of people who suffer from migraines
worry that they will suffer for the rest of their lives, and 37% of sufferers worried about their
migraines between attacks. Studies found that approximately 12% of Americans suffer from
migraines, and 40% of Americans could benefit from preventative therapies. Even though studies
show that at least 40% of sufferers could benefit from preventative therapies, only one in five sufferers
are currently using preventative therapies. Studies also show that over 25% of people who suffer from
migraine attacks miss at least one working day over the past three months, and nine out of ten
sufferers say that they cannot function normally during those days. At least 98 percent of migraine
attack sufferers take medications for temporary headache relief, whether it be over the counter or
prescription. Only 12% of sufferers take preventative medications as opposed to the 98% of sufferers
taking medications for relief. Severe migraines are ranked in the highest of seven disability classes,
along with psychosis, dementia, and quadriplegia, published by the World Health Organization.

The Role Of Bilbo In The Hobbit
A creature half the size of a human, accomplished the daunting task of becoming the knight in shining
armour of the novel, The Hobbit. Bilbo was the kind of hobbit that preferred the comfort of his hobbit
hole more than the adventures that he would soon encounter, but because of these experiences, Bilbo
has favored his Tookish side, helping him become the hero he is today. Obtaining a ring with
invisibility, planning an escape out of a palace, and trying to stop wars have all led Bilbo from hobbit
to hero.
Gaining the powerful ring from Gollum was Bilbo s first step towards becoming the hero. Gollum is a
wretched cave creature who trades riddles with Bilbo in chapter five. Before Bilbo meets Gollum
though, Bilbo had grabbed a ring, oblivious that it held the power of invisibility and that the true

He showed his usefulness by coming up with the plan of riding the barrels in the stream that leads to
Lake Town. In fact, at the end of chapter eight, it states that, the beginning of another adventure in
which the hobbit again showed his usefulness. Bilbo had managed to get all of the dwarves without
any harm done.
In like manner, Bilbo s most heroic move was when he gave the Arkenstone to Bard and Elvenking, an
attempt to stop the war. This is the Arkenstone of Thrain, the Heart of the Mountain; and it is also the
heart of Thorin. He values it above a river of gold. I give it to you. It will aid in your bargaining. Even
though the text shows that the stone is rightfully Thorin s, Bilbo still trades it for the chance of peace
among the creatures.
To conclude, Bilbo shows what it means to be a true hero with courage and audacity. He has
developed from a quiet peaceful Baggins, to the outgoing and sharp witted Tookish. From acquiring a
magical ring from the depths of a cave, planning the successful escape out of a castle, and trying to
create peace, Bilbo has shown the qualities of a genuine

Business Board of Directors
2) Non executive directors are members of a business s board of directors, but are not part of the
executive side of things. A non executive director normally doesn t participate in the day to day
management of the business, but offer general guidance and a different perception on current
problems of the business. The board often seek their contribution on particular issues like policy
making and planning exercises as they are independent and will provide an impartial view. They are
appointed on their wide experience, specialist knowledge and personal qualities, so that they can carry
out four principal roles:
1. Strategy
2. Performance
3. Risk
4. People (Remuneration)
Non executive directors (NEDS) have a duty to advise, criticise and help the development of strategy.
As outsiders to the company the NEDS have a more impartial view of external factors disturbing the
business s performance than the executives on the board. This will allow them to provide an educated
contribution to strategy and act as a constructive critic in observing the aims and strategies created by
the management team.
Another key role for NEDS is that they should examine the performance of management in meeting
targets that have been agreed before, checking the progress made towards achieving the objective. It is
up to NEDS to inquire repeatedly and ask questions of management, particularly where they have
worries on the performance of the company. They are also responsible for determining the proper

True, airbags have had some success. According to CNN, airbags have been credited with saving
1,100 lives since they have been introduced ( quot;Federal

cut the overall injury rate that occurs in accidents
( quot;Reports Knock Airbag Safety quot; 1). The airbags may be saving some lives.
However, in other cases, they are doing more damage than good. USA Today broke the story on airbag
performance. The news report told us that airbags deliver enough non lethal injuries to the passengers
that it offsets their performance on overall injuries ( quot;Reports Knock Airbag Safety quot; 1). The
net result: airbags have been found to cause injuries in so many accidents that the little good they do is
overshadowed by the injuries they cause.
Now that you understand some of the problems with the performance of airbags, let s look at another
problem why they are unreliable.
The reliability of airbags is questioned since they do not protect all sizes of bodies. When the first
airbags were tested, the engineers didn t take into account the different sizes of people the bags would
have to protect. They used a one sized dummy, similar to quot;Larry and

Time Travel In Literature From The Anglo-Saxon Period And...
For a brief moment suppose that time travel exists. A conundrum that has influenced our movies, our
stories, and proved impossible by the laws of physics, is now a reality. What is the first thing to do:
Kill Hitler? Save the Library of Alexandria? Suppose that a time traveler has a great love for literature,
specifically literature from the Anglo Saxon period and the English Renaissance. These two periods
had vastly different societies, and due to this, vastly different literature. If the time traveler were to
compare the literature from both periods, they would see that as time progresses, the themes in the
literature from these periods shift from the bravado of glory and honor to the quieter aspects of life.
While time travel may not be an opportunity at the moment, it is possible to step into the traveler s
shoes by examining the historical context surrounding these periods. Foremost, the Anglo Saxon
period, was a time when brawn, not brains, won the crown. The Celtic peoples, or Gauls, were loose
knit tribal people who were chased to Great Britain by the Romans, and built Hadrian s Wall to protect
themselves. The Germanic people were very similar to the Celtic people: both used human sacrifice
and had warrior kings. This was a time of the Vikings, for adventure. It was a time when the old gods
Dagda, Lugh, Odin, Thor, and many others ruled. In the midst of all of this barbarism, it was oddly
progressive, as women could divorce their husbands and own property. As time

Why Pharmacy Is A Chemistry And Biology

Pharmacy
Pharmacy is a chemistry and biology orientated health profession that requires great attention to detail
and also good oral and written communication skills. I would enjoy a career in pharmacy because it
combines the two subjects that I enjoy most: chemistry and biology. This profession would also give
me the opportunity to help other people every day. Pharmacy does require several years of schooling,
however, in the long run it pays off very well. Out of all the health professions available, pharmacy
interests me the most.
Job description:
Pharmacists do much more than simply fill prescriptions. They can advise patients about a healthy
diet, ensure that prescribed medication does not conflict negatively with other medications that a
patient is taking, and can even give flu shots. Pharmacists also regularly instruct patients on when and
how to take their medication, coordinate with insurance companies about prescribed medication, and
oversee the pharmacy technicians and interns ( Pharmacists. U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics).
There are four different types of pharmacists: community pharmacists, clinical pharmacists, consultant
pharmacists, and pharmaceutical industry pharmacists. Community pharmacists work in chain drug
stores, and some even run their own pharmacy. They give prescribed medication to patients, and give
advice and occasionally flu shots to them as well. Clinical pharmacists are much different. They

Chosin Reservoir Essay
The Chosin Reservoir Campaign of the Korean War
During the pivotal 1950 battle, 15,000 U.S. soldiers and Marines, alongside another 15,000 UN
soldiers, fought through a force of 120,000 Chinese soldiers to reach the sea some 78 miles away.
During the campaign, U.S. forces successfully evacuated 98,000 refugees while inflicting heavy losses
on the Chinese army. The Marine Corps led the push against a numerically superior Chinese force.
Chosin also called Changjin, campaign early in the Korean War, part of the Chinese Second Offensive
(November December 1950) to drive the United Nations out of North Korea. The Chosin Reservoir
campaign was directed mainly against the 1st Marine Division of the U.S. X Corps, which had
disembarked in eastern North Korea and moved inland in severe winter weather to a mountainous area
near the reservoir. The campaign succeeded in forcing the entire X Corps to evacuate to South Korea,
but the Chinese did not achieve their particular objective of isolating and destroying the 1st Marine
Division. Instead, in a deliberate retrograde movement that has become one of the most storied
exploits in Marine Corps lore, the Marines turned and fought their way down a narrow vulnerable road
through several mountain passes and a bridged chasm until they reached transport ships waiting at the
coast.Following the successful landing of the X Corps at Inch ŏn in September 1950, the United
Nations Command under the direction of U.S. Pres. Harry S. Truman s administration and the UN
General Assembly, pursued the remnants of the communist Korean People s Army into North Korea.
On the orders of Gen. Douglas MacArthur, commander of all allied forces in the UNC, the U.S.
Eighth Army crossed the 38th parallel the prewar border on October 7 and advanced up the western
side of the Korean peninsula toward P yŏngyang, the capital of the Democratic People s Republic of
Korea. At the same time, MacArthur redeployed the X Corps on amphibious ships around the
peninsula to Korea s east coast. The X Corps commanded by Maj. Gen. Edward M. Almond included
the 1st Marine Division Maj. Gen. Oliver P. Smith, the 7th Infantry Division Maj. Gen. David G. Barr,

The Da Vinci Robot
 Abstract
With the utilization of robotics in complicated surgeries, surgeons are able to perform the required
tasks with the use of precision offered by robots. The utilization of robotics minimizes surgery trauma,
increases dexterity, offers a wider range of motion, and allows improved access to obstructed organs.
The da Vinci Robot is a revised, upgraded and an enhanced machine from its predecessors and its
original design made by Leonardo da Vinci. A company in California was able to evolve the design of
the da Vinci robotic system. Four models were made by Intuitive Surgical, the standard original
model, model S, model Si, and the most recent one, model Xi. The da Vinci Surgical System is now a

The dVSS was FDA approved in the year 2000. The da Vinci has 2,250+ patents and additional 1,550
pending. The system is available in 6 continents, 64 countries, and 50 states (Intuitive Surgical 2017).
The surgical system is capable of operating in many different categories such as Cardiac, Colorectal,
Gynecologic, Head Neck, Thoracic, Urologic, and General surgeries. Unfortunately, the surgical
system does not complete the required tasks on its own, it s controlled by an onsite/offsite surgeon
whilst the patient is monitored by a surgical team onsite in case of data communication failure. The da
Vinci Surgical System (dVSS) functions as a telemanipulator, meaning any motion the surgeon
performs with their hand, the robot will replicate. The system works as a slave for and copies its
master s movement. In most cases, the dVSS is utilized at onsite surgeries; however, the dVSS is
capable of accomplishing full off site surgeries. For instance, a patient may be located at a hospital in
Houston, and the surgeon could be working at a hospital in Seattle. The dVSS s new model (XI)
consists of four main components, Surgeon Console, Patient Side Cart, Endowrist Instruments, and the
Vision System.

Technology Addiction Essay
Technology addiction is perceived as a major problem by the majority of American parents. In
Bergman s Don t Limit Your Teen s Screen Time , Bergman uses his personal experience as both a
parent and as an avid technology user to justify his argument that screen time limits have negative
effects on children. On the other hand, in Boyd s Blame Society, Not the Screen Time , Boyd blames
the American Education system, and parents for technology addiction in children, and proposes that
children should have less pressure and more free time to spend with their friends. While Bergman
utilizes his past and current experiences with technology to craft a clear argument against technology,
Boyd creates a stronger argument by drawing on her years of ... Show more content on

While games like minecraft, and applications like photoshop may allow children to flourish, it is not
the mindless, violent entertainment most parents worry about. By conveniently ignoring the concerns
of his audience, Bergman creates a divide, tremendously hurting his argument. Bergman states that
limiting screen time only fuels covert binging, (Bergman). To test his theory, Bergman stopped
restricting [his] children s screen time in [his] house, and immediately saw results (Bergman). This
one time experiment doesn t come close to the years of experience that Boyd reflects upon.
Unlike Bergman, Boyd uses strong claims, and a variety of evidence to support her argument. Boyd
reasons that since children have limited freedom and are given busy schedules, they are unable to
socialize with their peers. Boyd cites much higher levels of concern about technology addiction in
countries where there s even greater pressure to succeed and fewer social opportunities (Boyd).
Countries that pressure their children to succeed by loading their schedule with work typically have
high levels of technology addiction, and the inverse is true for countries that focus on student
happiness. Boyd notes that Finland and the Netherlands consistently outperform the U.S. in school,
and they emphasize student happiness, assigning no homework (Boyd). Not only does this approach
increase test grades, it also correlates to parents being less anxious about technology

The Day Music Festival, Woodstock, And The Air Of Bethel,...
It was the summer of 69, and the air of Bethel, New York, reeked of pot, history making psychedelic
guitar riffs, and teenage rebellion. The three day music festival, Woodstock, was the epitome of the
peace movements during the sixties and seventies, encompassing three days of undeniable harmony in
which the youth of 1960 was united, embodying ideals of peace akin, demolishing the foundation of
conformity within society. The newly surfacing culture brought about by the hippies and further
popularized during the festival countered the commonplace unchallenged mainstream culture that the

The revolutionary music played during Woodstock reflected values of peace and expressed anti war
sentiment, becoming one of the most influential kinds of nonviolent Vietnam War protest. The stylings
of Jimi Hendrix, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Bob Dylan, Country Joe McDonald, Joan Baez, and a
multitude of others, all worked to combat violence through artistic expressions of peace which
resulted in enormous followings, displayed through rock albums that topped music charts in the U.S.
Similarly, a transcendentalist from the 1800 s by the name of Henry David Thoreau formulated
arguments pertaining to nonviolent defiance against the government by refusing to pay poll taxes.
Later he had the antagonizing desire to put his experience into words, as he intricately composed Civil
Disobedience , a short essay that argued against injustice. His exposition encompassed the idea that
one should challenge the government in an irenic manner if they believe the laws and enforced powers
are abusive. The peace movements of the sixties and seventies practically mirrored the ideas of
Thoreau s essay, proving the timelessness of his avant garde logic.
The Transcendentalist Movement, taking off in the 1800 s, generally revolved around the ideas of
esteemed philosophers who praised values of

William Shakespeare s Titus Andronicus
Titus Andronicus is an interesting play of William Shakespeare s that deals with multiple difficult and
important plot devices and themes. Themes of love, duty, grief, and revenge, among others. The play
deals with death, rape, the nature of disability, and service to one s nation. Many events and tragedies
happen to Titus and his family, stemming from Titus killing the son of the queen of Goths. Titus
perception of his tragedy truly begins in Act 3 scene 1. Two of Titus sons are being charged with the
murder of the emperor s brother, despite the fact that they did not commit this heinous act. In the
speech he gives in lines 65 80, we see a change in Titus that is unprecedented to this point. Here,
because of the injustice about to be served to his sons, Titus shows more outward emotion and
affection than he s shown to this place in the play. The imagery and the speech in this scene tell a bit
about Titus before this turning point, and the man he will be after. The speech starts after Titus pleas to

Essay about Lockheed Martin Organizational Environment
Organizational Culture and Environment
As one of the only major defense contractors, one would think that Lockheed Martin has a different
organizational culture and environment than most companies, but in reality they run like any company
would but in a unique industry. They specialize in four different business segments including
Aeronautics, Space Systems, Electronic Systems, and Integrated Systems and Global Solutions. Their
vision statement says, Powered by Innovation, Guided by Integrity, We Help Our Customers Achieve
Their Most Challenging Goals . (Lockheed Martin, 1) This company works toward maintaining their
lead in global security through innovative research and development.

They must be able to quickly respond to any threats to our nation s security. They are firmly on the
defense and government side of aeronautics. Considering that 85% of their sales derive from the
United States Department of Defense, Lockheed Martin is directly affected by the government s
military spending cuts. (Hoovers, 1) So, this company thrives off of the government s budget and
specific needs. Lockheed Martin s 2007 revenue was $41.9 billion which shows that the current
economic situation has not affected them that much which is probably because their products and
supplies are being used in the war in Iraq. Their products are in high demand here in the United States
and around the world due to recent terrorism and turmoil. One good thing about working closely with
the government is that job stability is not a problem. Lockheed Martin rarely lays off employees and
can supply them with good benefits. However, other factors affect the way that the company runs such
as its focus on the environment and going green . Lockheed is creating programs that will help make
their products more environmentally friendly. Considering 90% of Lockheed s greenhouse gas
emissions derive from energy use, they created an energy program which operates with the
Environmental, Safety and Health organization. This energy management program tracks the
corporation s usages and costs so that it can monitor energy efficiency

The Low Country Healthy Start Program
The Low Country Healthy Start program was designed to eliminate disparities in perinatal health,
improve birth outcomes, and quality of life in African American women and infants living in
Allendale, Bamberg, Hampton, and Orangeburg counties. This process evaluation sought to determine
whether the services provided by LCHS were effective in changing the birth outcomes associated with
chronic disease in African American women. Data collected from the initial risk screening and
assessment survey along with attendance data from services provided by LCHS was utilized. Case
summaries and frequencies were ran on all data linked with chronic disease to determine the risk
factors, recognize who was at risk, and what services were provided. Findings suggest that Asthma
was the most common chronic disease amongst its participants with smoking tobacco, poor coping
skills, negative feelings, and inadequate housing being the risk factors associated with asthma. The
services provided by LCHS were found to be insufficient in reaching participants with chronic
disease. The program in general proves to be useful and beneficial in addressing the major issues
associated with low birthweight infants, however the data collected for this particular study is all self
reported which leaves gaps and unanswered questions due to inconsistency in the data received.

Throughout the history of psychological studies unprincipled violations have constructed ethical
standards that are essential in today s research. These moral dilemmas created established professional
and federal standards for performing research with human and animal participants, known as,
psychological ethical codes. The Tuskegee syphilis study and the Stanford prison experiment
highlighted a psychological study without proper patients consent and appropriate treatment, resulting
in a research disaster with unethical incidents.

abruptly.
There are a multitude of constituents that could be modified to make these unprincipled studies ethical

significance of morality in human experimentations. A noteworthy alteration that would be made is
guaranteeing that every participant in experiments are given a full assessment of the dangers that can

momentous ethical and legal issue involved in the Tuskegee study were the counterfeited information

The Australian Work Health And Safety Strategy
The Australian Work Health and Safety Strategy 2012 2022 identifies several priority industries.
Priority industries are identified as having a high number of injury and / or fatalities or hazardous in
nature (Safe Work Australia, 2012). The foundation of risk management is to prevent incidents from
occurring. Accident causation theory are models or tools that are used to assist in investigating
incidents in order to prevent recurrence (Boyle, 2012). The construction industry has been identified
as a priority industry for Australia (Safe Work Australia, 2012) and will be the focus of the review.
The development of an incident reporting template will be supported by causation models identified as
relevant to the construction industry. This template will be designed for a medium sized organisation
defined as having 21 99 workers. This study starts by performing a review and literature critic of
accident causation theories and models. This review highlights the two most relevant causation
theories to the construction industry as Reason s Swiss cheese model and System dynamics model for
the causation of unsafe behaviours (SD CUB). Both models are discussed in more detail with a
comparison of model strengths and weaknesses. From the comparison an incident reporting template
is developed. Finally it is argued that a systematic robust model should be applied that can manage the
variables in the changing work environment of the construction industry and concludes risk

Bailiff Research Paper
A Bailiff or a court official, would never have a boring day on the job. They do require a decent
education to better their chances of finding a job. The education requirements vary depending on
employer, jurisdiction and state. Most of the training is on the job and do not absolutely require a
degree. To become a bailiff you need to be aware of local laws, have self defence, first aid
certification, and know how to handle weapons (Career Cruising, 2018). However, having some kind
of criminal justice or law enforcement background education will significantly help. Michigan s top
law enforcement and criminal justice schools include Lake Superior State University where you can

part of the country they work in. In the local courts they can make about $38,000 a year and in the
state courts they can make an upward of $68,000. In Michigan at entry of the career they may receive
$33,200 annually which is $15.96 an hour. As an experienced bailiff they can make $41,210 or $19.81
per hour in Michigan (Career Cruising, 2018). A court official has many duties that they are
responsible to carry out. A typical bailiff works around a 40 hour week including some evenings and
weekends, they also must be dressed in uniform (Career Cruising, 2018). They must wear uniforms so
that they can be identified by the public and the court. Tasks they must perform include checking for
weapons in the court, stand guard when court is in session, transport prisoners, announce the judge,
swear in witnesses and can even handle evidence and court documents (Career Cruising, 2018). This

Utilization Of Drones
In today s world, there has been leaps and bounds as far as advancements in technology. Smart
phones, artificial intelligence, self driving cars, and drones. Technology itself is rather controversial to
some. Some say that cell phones are brainwashing people, artificial intelligence will take over the
world. Self driving cars just can never be safe. When it comes to drones, an entire new root system of
controversy sprouts. Drones are remotely piloted airships that can carry cargo or video cameras long
distances, while the pilot sits at a stationary location. Drones have been used to drop explosives
overseas into war zones, and this is where the argument starts. Should drone strikes be allowed abroad?
Studies say, Sure, why not? The utilization of drone strikes has vastly lowered the civilian death, or
collateral damage, in war zones. Previous weaponry, such as bombs, tanks, or mortars, have been the
cause of forty to sixty seven percent of the deaths of civilians. Since introducing drones, these
percentages have dropped to eight to seventeen percent. The accuracy of the strikes has greatly
depleted the rates of civilian ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Drones minimize the need for ground soldiers, and airplane pilots. Sending a ground crew can raise
the danger of a firefight, and sending in an aircraft pulls the risk of anti aircraft missiles. Drones, of
course, are still subject to these defense mechanisms, but if there s no one acting as a live pilot, there
is no way for it to be any danger for our military. Other threats eliminated in the utilization of drones
include weather, environmental conditions, land mines, and virtually anything that could hinder or
harm soldiers. Drones negate the danger of all of these, given the fact that they are inanimate objects.

Physics of Mountain Biking Essay
Mountain biking is enjoyed by millions of people throughout the year, and is attracting more and more
people everyday. Physics plays a vital role in this sport and without it, mountain biking would have no
challenges and would cease to exist. The concept of mountain biking is simple. Just take your
primitive bike riding skills, and ride trails found off the beaten path. From this notion of riding a bike,
an Olympic sport has evolved and many people have found meaning and joy in their lives.
m = mass of bike and rider g = gravitational force
A= acceleration mu = kinetic friction coefficient
· Inertial Forces = m *A
· Frictional Force = mu * m * g * cos(theta)
· Gravitational Force = m * g * sin(theta)
Gravity is the force that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In this case gravity is working to your advantage and is pulling you down the hill. So, as you bike
down hills, you can accelerate due to your own power as well as accelerate due to the force of gravity.
Lets take a more in depth look at this force called gravity!
The force of gravity exerts a constant acceleration of 9.81 m/sec^2 towards the center of the earth.
While gravity is being exerted downward, a normal force is being exerted on the rider opposing
gravity. This normal force acts perpendicular to the earth s surface, and for our purposes the trail a
biker is riding. So for example, if a biker were on a flat surface, both gravity and the normal force
would be acting upon the biker, but in opposing directions, thereby canceling each other out and can
be ignored. However, this combination of gravity and the normal force is what makes climbing up
hills difficult, and riding down hills a breeze.
In the sport of mountain biking you experience both accelerations and decelerations. This is what
makes mountain biking so exciting, but it also the reason why you should always wear a helmet!
Acceleration is defined as a change in velocity divided by a given amount of time. A rider accelerates
as he or she exerts energy and starts to pedal, but can also accelerate as he or she rides down a hill, and
this acceleration is due to the force of gravity mentioned earlier. As you accelerate, the weight of the
wheels affects the

Brown Spot Disease
Controlled forest fires have been used to reduce the amount of insects and disease, improve wildlife
habitats, and reduce harmful fuels in our environment. These are just some of the things they are used
for, and few of the reasons why we should be in support of them. If you believe our environment
should live on, as healthy and for as long as it can, then controlled fires could be the answer to many
of nature s problems.
The use of controlled fires helps reduce the amount of insects and disease in that area. One disease
that is very dangerous is called Brown Spot disease. This disease is a fungal infection that may
seriously weaken and kill longleaf pine seedlings. These diseases seedlings stay in the ground at a
grass stage and can spread to many other plants and animals. Controlled fires are used when about
twenty percent of the seedlings are diseased. These fires help maintain healthy plant life in areas
where Brown Spot disease is common. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

including the Florida panther, gopher tortoise, indigo snake, and red cockaded woodpecker are also
enhanced greatly when controlled fires are used to upkeep their habitats. Many different species lives
are improved when using the right kind of controlled burns to help keep their environments healthy
and habitable. For example fruit and seed production is stimulated, yield and quality increases occur in
herbage, legumes, and browse from hardwood sprouts, and openings are created for feeding, travel,

The Pros And Cons Of Religious Vaccination
There are several religious exemptions that followers can seem to justify but some cases seem to be
outrageous and a threat to society. One of these exemptions being, religious vaccine exemption which
seems to be a controversial topic even in today s society. Although, there is not an abundance of
religious followers who are against vaccination a few do seem to rise publicly once in a while which
leads to a media frenzy. Religions such as, Christian Scientists and the Dutch Reformed Church are
some of the religions in the past having followers known of creating controversy in this topic. In
which then, stirs the public on establishing an opinion on who to side with and what is right and
wrong. For example, there are cases where children entering schools are not vaccinated due to their
parent s religious beliefs. Should this extreme violation towards safety be allowed? No, I believe that
most cases of religious vaccine exemptions are morally unjustifiable and wrong.
Any act that unnecessarily endangers other human beings and society is morally unjustifiable and
wrong. I believe that when there s an option where something can be easily preventable and is known
to be avoidable then it should be accomplished with such method. When someone decides to
purposely chose an alternative option in which danger and negative consequences may become
pertinent and thus, the outcome it is wrong. There s no reason a sane human being should decide to

Although there are advantages and disadvantages to both a representative government and deliberative
democracy the benefits are largely dependant on the context of policy making and whose interests are
being considered. A representative democracy is one that is currently in place across Australia and, for
the most part, the rest of the world whereby a group of representatives deliberate without unequal
distributions to power on behalf of the nations citizens by denoting their beliefs, attitudes and
perspectives. Recent and ongoing concerns regarding the self interested, bureaucratic nature of
government has lead to increased interest in a more classical deliberative form of democracy
particularly at the idea of public participation ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The argument being that representative democracy allows for politically educated and aware elected
representatives, who have the resources and expertise, to make informed decisions. This views the
decision to allow the general public who may lack political awareness or inclination to make rational,
well considered judgments, incredibly detrimental as average citizens may not consider long term
solutions or may marginalise individuals and minorities. Begging other questions in regards to
whether elected officials should utilise their skill and knowledge to lead the public through more
informed decision that may be better for the greater good of the community by acting independently
or operate merely as relay mechanisms for the views of their constituents (Australian Politics 2010).
Some advocates of representative democracy acknowledge its limitations, but argue that deliberative
democracy is simple unfeasible in modern conditions. A direct government with high levels of
participation may be possible amongst relatively small communities, because personal communication
can take place between and amongst its citizens, however it is impractical and ineefgctive when it
comes to larger nations or states. The idea of consulting the general public on all issues, sanctioning
wide ranging discussion and debate, and holding mass meetings conducted in modern

Working With Parents
In your opinion, why is the parent partnership important in the education of a student?
Research has clearly proven that student achievement improves when parents are involved in their
child s education (2010). When an education system comes together with the family of their students,
the children tend to have a better understanding of the importance of school and working their best to
become as educated as they can be. Students who have not involved parents may feel that they are at
school only to be away from their parents. There are many reasons why children drop out of school so
it is the job of the school system and families to do whatever it takes to get the student involved in
their education. Once the student knows that everyone around them is supporting their educational
needs they are more likely to have a positive outlook towards school. When they then become a parent
they are more likely willing to be a partner in their future children s educational experiences because
of their positive attitude towards learning.
Why do you believe that some parents are reluctant to be involved in the educational process? ... Show

One major reason that I feel that parents are reluctant to work with schools is that they do not trust the
schools to do what is best for their child. Parents must believe and trust that the teacher and school
genuinely care about and are willing to do whatever is necessary to help their child (2010). Once a
school loses the trust of parents it is hard to build it up again. Parents may also come into a school
with a feeling of distrust because of their own educational experience. It is the job of the school to try
and work on every parental relationship and build the trust

was mainly under the governance of conservatives. Diego Portales became ruler and influential

The Unknown Of D Day
Matthew Fear Ms. Williams English 1 S1 18 April 2016 The Unknown of D Day June 6th, 1944 will
be a day forever remembered in history as the beginning of the end for Nazi Control in Western
Europe. D Day, otherwise known as Operation Overlord, was a combined effort of allied forces
consisting of Americans, British, Belgium, Canadian, French, Danish, and Norwegian military
branches to free Europe from notorious German control. Many questions involving D Day have yet to
be answered, such as the ones to be listed. How did the French Underground/French Resistance assist
in the invasion? Why were paratroopers crucial to the push inland from the beaches? Why were the
German Panzer tanks kept in reserve when they could ve pushed the allied advance back? What were
the tactical failures committed by the Germans? And what was the aftermath for the French following
the invasion? Only a small amount of information has shed light on the topic of the German s tactical
blunders that occurred on and around D Day. As stated by historical documents collected by Cornelius

An interesting fact is that during the Iran Iraq war of 1980, Kuwait was an ally of Iraq. The man
behind this attack was Iraqi dictator, Saddam Hussein. He considered the United Arab Emirates and
Kuwait in an economic battle against Iraq. Oil production, oil prices, the Iraqi debt owed to Kuwait,
and the aims of Iraq to increase its control in Kuwait served as a trigger for this attack. Prior to the war
negotiation did take place between Iraq and Kuwait although they could not reach an agreeable
conclusion. Afterwards, Saddam Hussein and American ambassador Catherine Glaspie met and
attempted to discuss further intents at reconciliation. This was also a hopeless case as Kuwait
occupied the important areas of this nation, including the Emir s palace. After this attack, the Gulf war
officially began and lasted for another six months until February 1991. A few days later, Saddam
Hussein announced triumph over Kuwait. As a response to this attack, the United Nations Security
Council passed Resolution 661 on Iraq on August 6th. Resolution 661 implies the global trade
restriction, which was imposed upon Iraq. Prior to the trade prohibition, the United Nations Security
Council asked Iraq to withdraw its troops from Kuwait. The attack on Kuwait by Iran is called the

Factors Nowadays, the more appropriate question needs to be answered is no longer to what extent
should a corporation include the society in their business operation but how to do it and use it as the
river for organizational success (Epstein et al, 2006). In recent years, ethics and social responsibility
have been playing an important role in the business world including in oil and mining industries. The
pressure towards society and ethical conducts are higher than ever. Although every oil and mining

  • 2. Karl Marx A century and a half ago, Karl Marx established a theory that today is known as the backbone to modern socialism and communism. Marx viewed the early capitalism of his own day as inherently exploitive. At the core of capitalist production is what is considered surplus value, the value left over after the producer (in Marx s case, factory owner) had paid the fixed costs of production such as raw materials, machinery, overhead and wages. The left over amount was kept as profit, a profit that Marx saw that was earned from the sweat of the labor. Derived from his idea of surplus value was that of alienation. Marx gave an economic interpretation to alienation. People were alienated from their own labor; their work was appropriated by someone ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In realizing that the capitalist had a new tool with which they could barter or trade, they also realized they now had an effective tool to keep the cost of the labor commodity down and in effect control those of the labor community that would become trouble for the new way of doing things in this new capitalist, industrial, power creating realm. The first casualty was and is always the worker in a capitalist society, according to Marx. See, first of all, Marx saw the many workers as victims who were or are taking advantage of by the owners of the factories and other means of production to satisfy the gain of profit by the few capitalists. Marx argued that under capitalism labor seldom receives more than bare subsistence. According to Marx, the surplus remaining is appropriated by the capitalists as their profits. This was a belief that many laborers, trying to organize to obtain better wages and work conditions during early commercial capitalism, held and acted upon. Arguing that the history of all hitherto existing society is the history of class struggles, (500) and that liberal governments and ideology were merely agents of the exploiting owners of property, Marx advocated the abolition of private property and predicted the demise of capitalism after a series of recurring crises. The abolition of property, and therefore of class ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Oil Sand in Alberta Alberta is a province that is rich and abundant in natural resources such as oil sands. What are oil sands? Oil reserves play a very important role in the Canadian economy. Oil sands from areas such as Alberta have been described as Canadians greatest buried energy treasure by popular magazines such as Time magazine. Oil sands are a naturally existing mixture of sand, clay and other materials such as water and bitumen. Some materials in oil sands including bitumen are highly viscous that they need to be treated and refined before they can be used by industrial sites in order to produce fuels such as gasoline. Oil sands can be refined to make oil. There are approximately 170.4 billion barrels of oil that can be used in the Northern part of Alberta. Approximately 80% of the oil sands can be recovered through the In situ production. 20% of the 80% is oil that can be recovered and purified by mining. Bitumen, a highly viscous material in oil sands is found by mining 90% of the time. While oil sands have a positive effect on us, it has a very negative effect on the environment. Oil sands have a very negative effect on aquatic ecosystems all around the world. Oil sands use up a lot of the water and energy. At present, two to five barrels of natural and recycled water are needed for every barrel of oil produced for mining. Oil sand project affect the natural aquatic ecosystems. Some of the negative effects oil sands have on aquatic ecosystems are that sometimes oil sands ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. The Legend Of The ANZAC Legend Ww1 IS regarded as one of the significant and fundamental event in history. It occurred due to the assassination of the heir to the throne of the Austro Hungarian Empire on 28 June 1914(Stephen Tonge). The countries were divided to two main powers called Central power where German and Austria were included and Allied power where England and Russia and Australia fought for the mother country England .One 25 April 1915, Australia sent troops to Gallipoli to fight against Turkish .But accidently they landed at the amiss place which made them suffer from the under fire, and the ANZAC legend was generated there. Although there was no military victory, the Australians displayed great courage, mateship and endurance. The stories of these qualities are the proof of ANZAC legend s undoubtable accurate portrayal of Australia s fighting men in WW1. Mateship is one of fundamental quality which represents the ANZAC legend. Mateship was showed through the experience of trench, warfare, concentration camps, injury, forced labour, and the bored man and terror of war. The story of the brave solider Simpson was a great example of the mateship through these experiences. The Return Services League of Australia WA Branch Incorporated which quotes The courage of a stretcher bearer named Simpson who, with his donkey, risked bombs and bullets week after week to carry the wounded to safety only to finally lose his own life on the beach of ANZAC Cove, will never be forgotten. • 6. The Effect Of Transfer Pricing On Shareholders Of... Transfer pricing assist companies in allocating their profits among the various countries in which they operate. However, we found that in recent years, multinational corporations have been taking advantage of the arm s length principle to transfer intellectual property that is difficult to value in order to avoid taxes in high tax jurisdictions. This poses an ethical dilemma for executives of corporations on whether or not they are paying their fair share of taxes and raises the question on how the U.S. government can reform the current system in place to encourage companies to behave ethically. We examine the effects of transfer pricing on shareholders of multinational corporations and the United States government through a case study on Apple. Apple was able to successfully dodge billions of taxes in the U.S. through the use of aggressive transfer pricing with their Irish subsidiaries. We found that Apple was never fined by the IRS because they were exploiting a loophole in the arm s length principle. While shareholders stand to profit from aggressive transfer pricing practices, they must be aware of the risk that aggressive transfer pricing imposes and be aware of companies motivations and morals for engaging in transfer pricing. The negative financial effects on the government were evident and we propose a three part solution to restructure the rules for transfer pricing to promote multinationals to act morally. First, we propose that the IRS get rid of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 8. The Role Of Bilbo In The Hobbit A creature half the size of a human, accomplished the daunting task of becoming the knight in shining armour of the novel, The Hobbit. Obtaining a ring with invisibility, planning an escape out of a palace, and trying to stop wars have all led Bilbo from hobbit to hero. Gaining the powerful ring from Gollum was Bilbo s first step towards becoming the hero. Gollum is a wretched cave creature who trades riddles with Bilbo in chapter five. Bilbo had managed to get all of the dwarves without any harm done. In like manner, Bilbo s most heroic move was when he gave the Arkenstone to Bard and Elvenking, an attempt to stop the war. This is the Arkenstone of Thrain, the Heart of the Mountain; and it is also the heart of Thorin. He values it above a river of gold. I give it to you. It will aid in your bargaining. Even though the text shows that the stone is rightfully Thorin s, Bilbo still trades it for the chance of peace among the creatures. To conclude, Bilbo shows what it means to be a true hero with courage and audacity. He has developed from a quiet peaceful Baggins, to the outgoing and sharp witted Tookish. From acquiring a magical ring from the depths of a cave, planning the successful escape out of a castle, and trying to create peace, Bilbo has shown the qualities of a genuine ... • 9. Business Board of Directors 2) Non executive directors are members of a business s board of directors, but are not part of the executive side of things. A non executive director normally doesn t participate in the day to day management of the business, but offer general guidance and a different perception on current problems of the business. The board often seek their contribution on particular issues like policy making and planning exercises as they are independent and will provide an impartial view. They are appointed on their wide experience, specialist knowledge and personal qualities, so that they can carry out four principal roles: 1. Strategy 2. Performance 3. Risk 4. People (Remuneration) Non executive directors (NEDS) have a duty to advise, criticise and help the development of strategy. As outsiders to the company the NEDS have a more impartial view of external factors disturbing the business s performance than the executives on the board. This will allow them to provide an educated contribution to strategy and act as a constructive critic in observing the aims and strategies created by the management team. Another key role for NEDS is that they should examine the performance of management in meeting targets that have been agreed before, checking the progress made towards achieving the objective. It is up to NEDS to inquire repeatedly and ask questions of management, particularly where they have worries on the performance of the company. According to CNN, airbags have been credited with saving 1,100 lives since they have been introduced ( quot;Federal Safety Officials..... quot; 1). However, an article by CNNfn goes on to state, the airbags do nothing to cut the overall injury rate that occurs in accidents ( quot;Reports Knock Airbag Safety quot; 1). The airbags may be saving some lives. However, in other cases, they are doing more damage than good. USA Today broke the story on airbag performance. The news report told us that airbags deliver enough non lethal injuries to the passengers that it offsets their performance on overall injuries ( quot;Reports Knock Airbag Safety quot; 1). The net result: airbags have been found to cause injuries in so many accidents that the little good they do is overshadowed by the injuries they cause. Now that you understand some of the problems with the performance of airbags, let s look at another problem why they are unreliable. The reliability of airbags is questioned since they do not protect all sizes of bodies. When the first airbags were tested, the engineers didn t take into account the different sizes of people the bags would have to protect. They used a one sized dummy, similar to quot;Larry and ... • 13. Time Travel In Literature From The Anglo-Saxon Period And... For a brief moment suppose that time travel exists. A conundrum that has influenced our movies, our stories, and proved impossible by the laws of physics, is now a reality. What is the first thing to do: Kill Hitler? Save the Library of Alexandria? Suppose that a time traveler has a great love for literature, specifically literature from the Anglo Saxon period and the English Renaissance. These two periods had vastly different societies, and due to this, vastly different literature. If the time traveler were to compare the literature from both periods, they would see that as time progresses, the themes in the literature from these periods shift from the bravado of glory and honor to the quieter aspects of life. While time travel may not be an opportunity at the moment, it is possible to step into the traveler s shoes by examining the historical context surrounding these periods. Foremost, the Anglo Saxon period, was a time when brawn, not brains, won the crown. The Celtic peoples, or Gauls, were loose knit tribal people who were chased to Great Britain by the Romans, and built Hadrian s Wall to protect themselves. The Germanic people were very similar to the Celtic people: both used human sacrifice and had warrior kings. This was a time of the Vikings, for adventure. It was a time when the old gods Dagda, Lugh, Odin, Thor, and many others ruled. In the midst of all of this barbarism, it was oddly progressive, as women could divorce their husbands and own property. As time ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I would enjoy a career in pharmacy because it combines the two subjects that I enjoy most: chemistry and biology. This profession would also give me the opportunity to help other people every day. Pharmacy does require several years of schooling, however, in the long run it pays off very well. Out of all the health professions available, pharmacy interests me the most. Job description: Pharmacists do much more than simply fill prescriptions. They can advise patients about a healthy diet, ensure that prescribed medication does not conflict negatively with other medications that a patient is taking, and can even give flu shots. Pharmacists also regularly instruct patients on when and how to take their medication, coordinate with insurance companies about prescribed medication, and oversee the pharmacy technicians and interns ( Pharmacists. U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics). There are four different types of pharmacists: community pharmacists, clinical pharmacists, consultant pharmacists, and pharmaceutical industry pharmacists. Community pharmacists work in chain drug stores, and some even run their own pharmacy. They give prescribed medication to patients, and give advice and occasionally flu shots to them as well. Clinical pharmacists are much different. They ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 15. Chosin Reservoir Essay The Chosin Reservoir Campaign of the Korean War During the pivotal 1950 battle, 15,000 U.S. soldiers and Marines, alongside another 15,000 UN soldiers, fought through a force of 120,000 Chinese soldiers to reach the sea some 78 miles away. During the campaign, U.S. forces successfully evacuated 98,000 refugees while inflicting heavy losses on the Chinese army. The Marine Corps led the push against a numerically superior Chinese force. Chosin also called Changjin, campaign early in the Korean War, part of the Chinese Second Offensive (November December 1950) to drive the United Nations out of North Korea. The Chosin Reservoir campaign was directed mainly against the 1st Marine Division of the U.S. X Corps, which had disembarked in eastern North Korea and moved inland in severe winter weather to a mountainous area near the reservoir. The campaign succeeded in forcing the entire X Corps to evacuate to South Korea, but the Chinese did not achieve their particular objective of isolating and destroying the 1st Marine Division. Instead, in a deliberate retrograde movement that has become one of the most storied exploits in Marine Corps lore, the Marines turned and fought their way down a narrow vulnerable road through several mountain passes and a bridged chasm until they reached transport ships waiting at the coast.Following the successful landing of the X Corps at Inch ŏn in September 1950, the United Nations Command under the direction of U.S. Pres. Harry S. Truman s administration and the UN General Assembly, pursued the remnants of the communist Korean People s Army into North Korea. On the orders of Gen. In Bergman s Don t Limit Your Teen s Screen Time , Bergman uses his personal experience as both a parent and as an avid technology user to justify his argument that screen time limits have negative effects on children. On the other hand, in Boyd s Blame Society, Not the Screen Time , Boyd blames the American Education system, and parents for technology addiction in children, and proposes that children should have less pressure and more free time to spend with their friends. Countries that pressure their children to succeed by loading their schedule with work typically have high levels of technology addiction, and the inverse is true for countries that focus on student happiness. Themes of love, duty, grief, and revenge, among others. The play deals with death, rape, the nature of disability, and service to one s nation. Many events and tragedies happen to Titus and his family, stemming from Titus killing the son of the queen of Goths. Titus perception of his tragedy truly begins in Act 3 scene 1. Two of Titus sons are being charged with the murder of the emperor s brother, despite the fact that they did not commit this heinous act. In the speech he gives in lines 65 80, we see a change in Titus that is unprecedented to this point. Here, because of the injustice about to be served to his sons, Titus shows more outward emotion and affection than he s shown to this place in the play. The imagery and the speech in this scene tell a bit about Titus before this turning point, and the man he will be after. The speech starts after Titus pleas to the judges and immediately after Marcus brings Lavinia, Titus daughter, to him after she has been raped, had her hands cut off, and her tongue cut out. Lines 65 80 is Titus first response to what he sees of his daughter s situation before becoming aware that her tongue has been cut out as well. So, as you bike down hills, you can accelerate due to your own power as well as accelerate due to the force of gravity. Lets take a more in depth look at this force called gravity! The force of gravity exerts a constant acceleration of 9.81 m/sec^2 towards the center of the earth. While gravity is being exerted downward, a normal force is being exerted on the rider opposing gravity. This normal force acts perpendicular to the earth s surface, and for our purposes the trail a biker is riding. So for example, if a biker were on a flat surface, both gravity and the normal force would be acting upon the biker, but in opposing directions, thereby canceling each other out and can be ignored. Acceleration is defined as a change in velocity divided by a given amount of time. D Day, otherwise known as Operation Overlord, was a combined effort of allied forces consisting of Americans, British, Belgium, Canadian, French, Danish, and Norwegian military branches to free Europe from notorious German control. Many questions involving D Day have yet to be answered, such as the ones to be listed. How did the French Underground/French Resistance assist in the invasion? Why were paratroopers crucial to the push inland from the beaches? Why were the German Panzer tanks kept in reserve when they could ve pushed the allied advance back? What were the tactical failures committed by the Germans? And what was the aftermath for the French following the invasion? Only a small amount of information has shed light on the topic of the German s tactical blunders that occurred on and around D Day. He considered the United Arab Emirates and Kuwait in an economic battle against Iraq. Oil production, oil prices, the Iraqi debt owed to Kuwait, and the aims of Iraq to increase its control in Kuwait served as a trigger for this attack. Prior to the war negotiation did take place between Iraq and Kuwait although they could not reach an agreeable conclusion. Afterwards, Saddam Hussein and American ambassador Catherine Glaspie met and attempted to discuss further intents at reconciliation. This was also a hopeless case as Kuwait occupied the important areas of this nation, including the Emir s palace. After this attack, the Gulf war officially began and lasted for another six months until February 1991. A few days later, Saddam Hussein announced triumph over Kuwait. As a response to this attack, the United Nations Security Council passed Resolution 661 on Iraq on August 6th. Resolution 661 implies the global trade restriction, which was imposed upon Iraq. Prior to the trade prohibition, the United Nations Security Council asked Iraq to withdraw its troops from Kuwait. Analyses indicated that the most effective leaders were those who increased their transformational leadership in virtual teams. Team member ratings suggest that transformational leadership has a stronger effect in teams that use only computer based communication, and leaders who increase their transformational leadership achieve higher levels of team performance. This source was of particular use as I had limited information on transformational leadership and it applied the theory to both virtual and face to face teams. The information provided gave me an understanding as to why transformational leadership is vital when interaction between group members is limited and high levels of trust in team members is required. 1.
