Product Managers are generalists leading product teams of domain experts (developers, designers, etc). This can lead to gray areas of responsibility and conflict. Product Managers are responsible for the success of the product and are expected to weigh-in on all product elements - from design to development to delivery - yet at the same time defer to other team members on important product decisions.
In this talk, John Kresse talked about some of the gray areas he's experienced in his product management career when working with fellow team members. He also provided resources for working effectively with these colleagues to get the most out of your team.

Agile Starts With You: Personal Agility and Subversive Scrum
"You see, to do that you must start with the people – instead of jumping right into the process. You won’t be able to create an agile process, much less a culture, until you’ve created agile people." – Peter Saddington
Agile and Scrum typically evoke thoughts about software development processes, ceremonies, and tools, but at the heart of any successful Agile team are people who embody the values and principles.
As with accountability, agility begins with you, because you are the only thing that is within your domain of control. This presentation reflects on the mindset, strategies, and techniques to be personally agile, and the behaviors you can demonstrate that will infect others, and create trusting, high-performing teams.
How is it possible that a seemingly highly skilled team struggle to meet business deadlines whilst a team of average skilled professionals consistently deliver value to their client? Do the skills of the team members have any outcome on the delivery of the team? Of course they do, but without the secret sauce even the best team will fail. The uncomfortable truth is that human beings do not do ANYTHING unless they are sufficiently motivated to do so, despite what they may say they will do. Unfortunately, in most organisations, people learn to say what their managers want to hear and then still proceed to do the opposite. Why do people do this? In this talk we will explore how an Agile approach makes average teams become great teams through the injection of one vital ingredient: motivation. We will explore how an Agile approach gets people in all kinds of industries (not only developers!) become motivated to be successful without them even realizing it. The key principles of Agile that, probably coincidently, addresses the fundamentals of human motivation, will be uncovered.

Continuous Improvement from the trenches - Sydney - TAL & CBA - 18-11-2015Ryan McKergow
Insanity; it’s doing the same thing over and over again, and expecting different results. Improving as an organisation is hard. What is even harder? Continuously improving. Yet it is key to any Agile transformation as we challenge ingrained practices and rigid ways of working. How do we manage to do this?!
During this presentation, I will share the strategies I've used to introduce Retrospectives, Lean Coffee, Brown Bags, Team 1:1s, and Guilds in the trenches. All of these continuous improvement practices have fast tracked Agile transformations in the teams and organisations I've worked with. Implement these practices and you can go beyond Agile adoption too.

Five Tips for Effective Coaching QuestionsCenterfor HCI
People often get confused between coaching conversations and other conversations. As a matter of fact, both are different. The difference lies between the number of questions asked and the type of questions asked. For making a good coaching question, there are several important tips. Follow them and see how the conversation opens up.
This session will utilize coaching skills to create a culture of learning and career development. Do your leaders see employee engagement as a survey, program, or completing a course? Do you want your leaders and employees to convert feedback and conversations into meaningful action and growth? Unconscious bias, resistance to feedback and organizational politics can make it challenging to measure the needs of your teams and organizations. With the coaching skill everyone can be equipped to help drive learning and growth.
Developing Leaders at all levels through Purpose driven coachingJoseph Abraham
Organizations often state that they want to strengthen their leadership pipeline, yet research shows that corporate leadership capabilities are dropping. These days, every organization is competing with everyone, from everywhere for everything - a new global reality! Researchers at Boston Consulting Group have identified the need to build leaders at all levels in an organization as one of the main challenges to be successful in the modern 'flat' world. To be successful in the turbulent decade that lies ahead leaders – and all the people they lead – need to learn to deal with complexity, uncertainty and constant change
In today’s work and organizational context one of the key qualities that helps leaders succeed and develop more leaders is the ability to coach, this workshop aims to help understand the essence of coaching and the effective tools one can practically employ at workplace both with individuals and teams that can make your coaching interventions more meaningful and powerful.
Your people have an innate desire to succeed and perform to their best and sometimes with the mind blocks and blind-spots they feel they’ve come to cross-roads or stumbled upon a huge roadblock and as a leader and you too want to see them thrive, succeed and grow, now with coaching you can help them accomplish their goals as Coaching is all about the person at the other end of the conversation, making this conversation powerful, engaging, lively, trust-driven and worthwhile is the key, and that’s what we’ll discover through this presentation.
This Question Bank can help readers to practices many simulated scenarios. These are questions will be asked in Transformation related interviews.

Attaining Agile Fluency: Coaching Techniques - Focus on Goals Over ProcessRavi Kumar
What is coaching?
“It is helping to identify the skills and capabilities that are within the person, and enabling them to use them to the best of their ability” — wikipedia
Individuals and Interactions over Process and Tools.
The above is one of the 4 values espoused in the manifesto but yet it is common to see many agile coaches engage with teams and organisations advocating more and more processes. This is a common sight with new teams and also with teams on the path of agile transition from few months to few years irrespective of the competency, skills and maturity of the teams. Agile Fluency model created by Diana Larse and James Shore highlights the focus on value over compliance and practices at any given level
“ Team fluency depends on more than just the capability of the individuals on the team. It also depends on management structures, relationships, organizational culture, and more. Don’t make the mistake of blaming individuals for low team fluency, or assuming that one highly-skilled individual will guarantee high team fluency ”
An agile coach responsible for building high performing teams will need right set of powerful tools and techniques to leverage while working with teams and also to set the right expectations to both management and teams. This talk will draw from experience using few such powerful tools mentioned below while coaching teams attain fluency.
1) Using Agile Fluency @ High Level to Set Expectations
2) Setting Team Norms & Working Agreements
3) Deliberate Practice
4) Creating Enablers for a Learning Organisation
5) Simple Measures
Presentation delivered by Pablo Junco to the HOLA Community at Microsoft. The objective was to provide guidelines to people how want to become a mentor (or improve their skills as mentor.
