"Behind the AI Curtain - Designing for Machine Learning Products" by Crystal YanProductized
When startups first launch, they can make the news with application of cutting edge artificial intelligence (AI) – but convincing users to trust the AI is often another story. There’s often also no process for integrating future AI development into product roadmaps.
In this PRODUCTIZED talk, Crystal Yan covers three key principles for how design and data science teams can work together better to build greater trust among users. Additionally, a case study on how a design and data science team partnered to redesign predictive analytics scores powered by machine learning will illustrate those principles in practice.

Cloud computing in Australia - Separating hype from realityRussell_Kennedy
The growth of cloud computing in Australia has been exponential and analysts forecast that cloud computing will dominate the Australian IT landscape within the next decade.
It has a reputation for delivering economies of scale, reducing overheads and driving increased efficiencies within organisations. However, the reality is that, like any IT procurement, implementing a cloud computing solution for your business still requires careful planning, effective project management, robust contracts and sound oversight.
Russell Kennedy Lawyers delve into the risks and rewards of adopting Cloud Computing in Australia.
Users and Mobility are driving Change and Disruption in the traditional IT environment.
Customers and Users expect faster response times, availability to systems from anywhere & anytime.
Considering a Next Generation Data Centre to support these changes and deliver the platform you need to right source IT services and applications is a fundamental requirement.
Dimension Data provides insight into how we do this from a User Perspective, through to defining a Mobility strategy and architecting an IT landscape to support this.

Mindsets are the belief systems that each individual holds, influencing their thoughts, actions and words in both the personal and professional realms. Just as an open and inquisitive mindset can support development, a constraining mindset can hinder it.
The good news: mindsets may be deeply rooted, but they are not unchangeable. Developing the self-awareness to recognize one’s own mindset is challenging, but it’s critical to stimulate lasting, meaningful growth.
This 60-minute session will give you the tools to:
- Understand what a mindset is and how it impacts behavior and reinforces itself
- Assess and uncover aspects of a client’s mindset that could be hindering development
- Begin the conversation about considering a change to personal mindset
- Support clients in shifting and developing their mindsets to create positive momentum

The next stages of your journey to agile performance managementDavid Perks
In a transition from traditional performance management to agile performance management, there are people capabilities that need to be strengthened. This is because everybody leads in an agile environment, and usually leadership development training has not been available wholesale throughout the organisation. You don't need the capabilities in order to begin, but you do need the capabilities in order to master an agile culture and foster an agile performance management mindset among your people.
Developing Championship Teams: What founders can learn from Olympic teams and...Steve Portenga
Most founders learn that developing a team that can execute at a championship level is as crucial for them as in sports. Hiring a group of talented individuals, with varied personalities and values, does not make them a team. Learn from the experiences of how elite athletes and coaches become positive performing teams. We will share our stories of teaching the psychology of high performance to teams so they win championships and Olympic medals. The goal of this workshop is to provide founders with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to craft their plan for developing a high performing team.

Teachers will be able to design learning environments that have the greatest impact on students' learning. Growth Mindset - we can achieve our full potential with effort, hard work, and dedication.
Learning how to have the mindset for success is crucial when you want a successful and blissful life. If you are like me, you might have many goals you want to achieve. Whatever these goals are, the key is to have a growth mindset rather than a fixed one. But what is the difference and how you get it?

Deep Listening - Impact beyond words - Intranets 2017 SydneyOscar Trimboli
Over 55% of your day is spent listening; yet only 2% of us have been trained in how to listen.
What is poor listening costing you?
Do you rush from meeting to meeting, your head buried in the last conversation you had, without time to think of the next?
Or feel frustrated with unproductive everyday discussions where the loudest in the room adds limited insight and drowns out everyone else?
We usually think of these situations as communication problems; that we have not spoken our needs correctly or clearly.
Yet, conflict, chaos and confusion are the costs of not listening.
Many communication and listening books say the most important person in a conversation is the speaker – not true!
This presentation will help you to reconnect with your innate
gift of deep listening, to create the right space to listen to yourself before you listen to others.
You’ll learn to listen beyond the words that are spoken, to add
context and meaning and listen in to what’s not being said.
Deep Listening will help you move from confusion and conflict to thoughtful, insightful and powerful discussions that will transform not just your work, but your whole life.
Learn about the 125/400 Rule - the maths and science of why listening is so hard

Effects Of Networking On Career Success by Hans-Georg Wolff & Klaus Moser of ...Oscar Trimboli
Effects Of Networking On Career Success by Hans-Georg Wolff & Klaus Moser of University of Erlangen-Nuremberg
Previous research has reported effects of networking, defined as building, maintaining, and using relationships, on career success. However, empirical studies have exclusively relied upon concurrent or retrospective designs that rest upon strong assumptions on the causal direction of this relation and also depict a static snapshot of the relation at a given point in time.
This study provides a dynamic
perspective of the effects of networking on career success and reports results of a longitudinal study.
Networking was assessed by six subscales that result from combining the facets of 1) internal vs. external networking and 2) building vs. maintaining vs. using contacts. Objective (salary) and subjective (career satisfaction) measures of career success were obtained for three consecutive years.
Multilevel analyses show that networking is related to concurrent salary and moreover, that it is
related to the growth rate of salary over time. Networking is also related to concurrent career
satisfaction. As satisfaction remained stable over time, no effects of networking on the growth of career satisfaction were found.

In this presentation, we examine the challenges and limitations of relying too heavily on PHP frameworks in web development. We discuss the history of PHP and its frameworks to understand how this dependence has evolved. The focus will be on providing concrete tips and strategies to reduce reliance on these frameworks, based on real-world examples and practical considerations. The goal is to equip developers with the skills and knowledge to create more flexible and future-proof web applications. We'll explore the importance of maintaining autonomy in a rapidly changing tech landscape and how to make informed decisions in PHP development.
This talk is aimed at encouraging a more independent approach to using PHP frameworks, moving towards a more flexible and future-proof approach to PHP development.
"Impact of front-end architecture on development cost", Viktor TurskyiFwdays
I have heard many times that architecture is not important for the front-end. Also, many times I have seen how developers implement features on the front-end just following the standard rules for a framework and think that this is enough to successfully launch the project, and then the project fails. How to prevent this and what approach to choose? I have launched dozens of complex projects and during the talk we will analyze which approaches have worked for me and which have not.
