Comparing homeless charity techniques through websites and campaigns
1. Aims and Considerations sheet
Existing Products:
How many existing artefacts do you feel you will need to look at?
In my research I am planning to be looking into 4 different artefacts (2 websites, 2 campaigns) and
compare the different techniques they have used in each artefact and how have they brought the
message of homelessness to the audience.
What kinds of artefacts are you expecting to look at?
I am planning to be looking into artefacts that are based on homeless charities. The artefacts will
be a combination of websites and campaigns so I will be able to compare which techniques are
different and similar between the two. This will also allow me to explore in the use of different
techniques and will help me for future references.
What elements will you be looking at to help you with your research?
I will be paying a lot of attention to how each artefact is able to make its purpose stand out and
how they have accomplished this and will also be looking into how they have used there
techniques (colour scheme& font) to make there website/campaign stand out to the audiences
eye.
Primary Research:
How many people would you hope to question as part of your primary research?
I would like to question at least 10 people so that I can get a variety of opinions and see the
different points of opinion and all the different viewpoints that my potential audience may have.
What age group would you like to target and why?
I would like to present my questionnaire to my peers (16-17) and ages over so that I can get a
mature and precise opinions and the feedback will be a mixture and I will be able to understand
what is expected from the campaigns for when I come to making my own.
What methods will you use?
The methods that I will be using for my research is survey monkey. I am planning on creating a
number of questions and creating a survey and then taking that survey and placing it on social
networking sites (twitter&facebook). If I do not get a successful result I will take my questions and
ask my peers face to face to get a quicker and better result.
How will you know if your research has been successful?
I will know if my research is successful by getting back the minimum of 10 responses and if I am
not able to get the result I was aspecting I will use the face to face techniques to get quicker
responses.
2. Considerations:
Why might you need to be sensitive when carrying out research during this project?
Because the subject of homelessness being a sensitive subject to talk about I may have to be
careful with the materials I am willing to present my audience with. For example some of the
imagery in this subject can be quite sensitive to publish to my audience.
Could you face any problems when trying to do this research? If so, is there a way to overcome
these? An problem that I may come across during my research is having inappropriate responses
and to prevent this I will need to be careful with where I am publishing my questioner.
Where would you expect your finished pieces to be displayed and distributed?
I would like for my work to be published displayed on websites, be created into posters and
leaflets as these are the most popular way off work being displayed to the public.
What funding issues might an organisation like SASH face?
An issue that SASH might face is because they are an independent organisation they completely
relay on the donations that the public donates and if they don't receive the donations they would
not be able to fund the homeless people .
