What It Take to Be a Scholarly Writier Essay examples
Scholarly writing is no different from all other writing, except, beside it having a purpose and
having an audience like any other writings, scholarly writing is evidence based (Laureate
Education, 2012). It is important, since the scholar practitioner write for a specific audience, that
his or her material be free of personal opinion, assumption, and bias. When writinga scholarly
material, a scholar practitioner has to be objective in tone, write clearly, concise, produce a
mechanically correct writing that contains evidence based material. Before starting writing, a
scholar practitioner, first would consider the purpose of the writing, then the audience being
addressed in the writing. As a Walden student and a... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Because once the scholar practitioner found material, it is up to that individual to establish the
validity and usefulness of the source (Laureate Education, 2013). The Essential Guide to Online
Learning states that scholarly writing is material written for a specific purpose to a specific
audience. It s based on evidence, not assumptions or opinions. It s objective in tone, and the
writing is clear, concise, and mechanically correct (Laureate Education, 2013). For an effective
writing, it is necessary that scholar practitioner write clearly, be concise, and use of precise and
appropriate terms to ensure that the writing is mechanically correct as Professor Lilburn Hoehn
said, Figure out what you want to say and just say it (Laureate Education, 2007). When looking at
clarity and concision of writing, I read a post on the difference between Piaget and Erickson
developmental theory. After a discussion on points, which set these two theories apart, the writer
finally concluded with these statements: Erikson believed development went beyond the years of
development that Piaget focused on. Both theorists believed in the importance of developmental
stages of younger years of life. Piaget believed development went beyond the younger years of life
and went past even into the years of

Workplace Diversity. Canadian Business Comparison Report.
Workplace Diversity Canadian Business Comparison Report The Canadian business
comparison report comprises of the companies details and also the comparison between a
Canadian local business and Indian local business. For this report I have chosen Canada s
Dollarama and India s D Mart as both company have same target market. Dollarama is Canada s
leading dollar store with 900 locations across Canada. Larry Rossy, a third generation retailer,
founded the company in 1992. The first Dollarama store opened in April 1992, in a shopping
center Les promenades du St Laurent in Matane, Quebec. The products sold are in single or
multiple pieces at selected price point of not more than $3. The company aims to provide customers
with a consistent... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They also provide insurance and pension benefits for employee. Dollarama has a diverse
working environment and the employees have the opportunity to enhance their retail as well as
management skills and build a respectable career in the retail industry. Dollarama also provides
the employees with competitive benefit packages which includes medical and drug plans, life
and disability insurance. The employees can also opt in company matched pension plan.
Dollarama has a diversified culture as the company hires locals as well as international students for
part time/full time jobs. As there is a college nearby Dollarama has many international students
working for them. D Mart on other hand hires locals for job as there are not many international
students in India. Also because of low wages in India (for most of the firms) no international
student applies for job. Dollarama hires employees from age bracket of 16 60 years and varies from
the position applied. The store manager s age group is from 50 60 years and the assistant manager
s age group is 40 50 years. The key holder s age group is from 25 45 years. D Mart hires employees
from age group of 18 50 years. The manager s age group varies from 35 50 years depending on
experience and qualification. The store associates age group is from 18 35 years. D Mart selects
its candidates based on their qualification and previous work experience. To

Greek Theatre And Modern Theatre
Without a doubt, the Greek theatre remains one of the most recognized and distinctive works in the
world. While we associate many features of modern theatre with their Greek counterparts, ancient
theatre was a very different animal. You will be surprised at how much Ancient Greece has
influenced us today. Without such topics such as drama, democracy and the Olympics coming from
Ancient Greece, sport would not be important. Drama was a huge part of ancient Greece. Theatre
then became extremely popular performed everywhere including festivals. Greek Tragedyand
Comedy was significantly important as not only did it provide entertainment for the ancient
Greeks, but has continued to influence society today, inspiring us to create similar styles of
theatre into contemporary plays today. Within this essay I hope to show how these ancient
plays have transitioned into our modern theatre, and how directors today have morphed them
into relevant and relatable productions. M Cartwright wrote sources which provides us with
information on both Greek Comedy and Tragedy. In the 6th century BCE, Greek tragedy played
an important and influential role in theatre. The popular form of drama was performed all over
Greece. The most well known playwrights have come from Greek tragedy such as Sophocles,
and Euripides whose plays remained recognised, and continued to be performed for years after
their original premiere. Comedy was also a popular type of theatre in the late 6th century. The
most famous playwrights of the genre were Aristophanes and Menander and their works, and
those of their contemporaries, poked fun at politicians, philosophers, and fellow artists.
(Cartwright 2017). The source informed me the first appearance of Comedy, pottery in the 6th
century, used for decoration, often portrayed actors dressed as horses, satyrs, and dancers in
exaggerated costumes. (Cartwright 2017). Poetry was also another early source of comedy.
Archilochus and Hipponax were Greek poets whose satyr works used crude and sexual humour.
Cartwright explained in his source that these plays were performed at the City of Dionysia and the
Lenaea which were major religious festivals. Over the course of the festivals, comedies were

Analysis Of Their Eyes Were Watching God
Their Eyes Were Watching God: Prompt 10 Their eyes were watching god a novel that looked
how societies view on women, written by Zora Neale Hurston, portrays a society where nigger
women are considered a mule . Throughout the novel, the protagonist, Janie Crawford, strives to
find her own voice but struggle to find it because of the expectation in the African American
community. Each one of her husbands play a big role in her life long search for independence
and her own voice. Janie s journey sets off when her grandmother, Nanny, insists she marries
Logan Killicks, a man twice her age. Because Nanny s experience with slavery, her worldview
has been about financial security for Janie. Like all elders they hope that their children and
grandchildren have protection and stability so they can ease. Tain t Logan Killicks Ah wants
you to have, baby, it s protection... (Hurston 15) . With Janie rebellious young age, she does not
realize what her grandmother went through. Janie knew she had to obey her grandmother so she
can give her Nanny assurance that she would be taken care of before she dies. But not long after
the Nanny s death, Logan Killicks starts to treat her like a mule a free work of labor. Because of
Janie status she ought to speak for herself. Another example, where Janie struggles to find her
voice is with her second husband Jody Starts, a man who starves for power and the mayor of
Eatonville. Jody rarely allows Janie to speak her mind, participate in social

Peaceful Civil Disobedience
Civil disobedience is a timeless practice that has been carried on from generation to generation,
from Socrates refusal to execute Leon of Salamis to today s Syrian rebels fight for freedom. In
many cases of injustice, the public will rise up to reclaim their human rights, and ever so often
these fights are nonviolent in nature and educational to all the people who engage in it. However,
even in acts of nonviolent demonstrations, both the demonstrator and the demonstrated can be hurt.
So the question arises: does peaceful disobedience positively impact a free society? Or does such
disobedience only contribute to the tension already apparent? The answer to this question, simply
put, is that civil disobediencecan positively impact a free society in more ways than one. Peaceful
civil disobedience is one of the most important aspects that exemplifies a truly free society, for the
ability of a group to protest against injustice is true human freedom. Peaceful demonstrations can
also encourage better and stronger livelihood among people who are oppressed, since these
actions can and will open the eyes of oppressors, and as a result such... Show more content on

Racial Inequality In Brazil
Towards the end of the 19th century, immigration to Brazil began to rapidly increase. The demand
for coffee continued to increase, and the coffee production industry expanded due to an influx in
immigrants from Japan, Portugal, Spain, Italy, as well as several other European countries. Brazil
was a divided nation, lacking a unified population or shared culture. The goal of allowing an influx
of European immigrants into the country was to conform to European culture, and civilize Brazil.
Essentially, Brazil had desires to whiten the population. The largely black, and Mulatto population
quickly began to transform into predominantly white. Racial inequality and discrimination marked
Brazil, and created distinct divisions amongst the population. Following abolition, Afro Brazilians
had immense difficulty in defining their own place in Brazilian society. Prior to the 1980s, racist
attitudes as well the intention of Westernizing Brazil, made it challenging for Afro Brazilians to
achieve economic or social mobility. Beginning in the 20th century, efforts to diminish racial
inequality became increasingly necessary to Brazil. Afro Brazilians have faced severe inequity
post abolition, however in recent decades the eradication of racial inequality has become
imperative. Scientific racism emerged in Brazil from France, and was rooted from the philosophy
positivism. Positivism was an ideology that declared any rational observation or idea can be

Examples Of Archetypes In The Raven
In the poem The Raven by Edgar Allan Poe there are many themes and archetypes to convey the
message to the reader. My poster expresses these themes through colors, images and symbols. On
my poster the color purple shows up multiple times in the text to show the reader a back round
message. The color purple is an archetype that represents the un natural and supernatural. One of the
supernatural occurrences in the poem is when the narrator states And the silken sad uncertain
rustling of each purple curtain thrilled me in the quote that color purple shows up. After those
curtains shook in the wind supernatural things occurred. I used this color in my poster because
many supernatural events occur throughout the play. In my blurb I used the word mystic to
describe the sound of the echo. The word mystic defines as often relating... Show more content on

The raven was one of the main archetypes in the play. In my poster I added a bold black raven in
the center. The raven is made out of the words nevermore which is the name of the raven.
Normally the archetype of a bird would mean freedom. A bird can fly wherever it wants and let
the wind take it. In this case its different, a black raven appeared which was a different sign. A
black raven represents sickness and death. The black raven relates to the theme because in the
poem they use specific lines to describe the setting and emotion of the poem such as by the grave
and stern decorum this line is referring to dark and deathly setting of the environment the narrator
is in. Another symbolic archetype I added in my poster was the dark forest submerged in mist.
The symbolization of a forest is the unknown as well as darkness and the symbolization of the mist
is mystery. This eerie back round shows that there is an unknown mystery to come in the future.
This relates to the theme because darkness is being portrayed all the

The Principles Of The Kingdom Of God
The Principles of the Kingdom of God are found abundantly within the text writings of the Gospels
and other books within the Bible. It is easy to see that the Kingdom of God came upon us when
Jesus walked the earth teaching, healing and preaching; doing the works of our Father, God
Almighty. This essay will attempt to bring to light methods which Jesusused to teach those around
him and touch on some of the aspects of the Kingdom of God. Robert Coleman (1993) listed the
methods used by Jesus as selection, association, impartation, delegation and reproduction. In this
progressive teaching method Jesus chose his disciples, associated with them and gave them a living
example. He then set them out to complete tasks based upon his teachings. This process was
eventually restarted when the disciples themselves chose students of their own.
The First Principle of the Kingdom of God The Kingdom is for the Jew first then the Gentile,
however; the Kingdom will be taken away and given to a people who will produce its fruit
(Matthew 21:43). Perhaps the Kingdom will be taken away from the Jew and given to the Gentile
to produce its fruits, to preach the Gospel to the nations, to heal the sick and continue the works of
the Father. It was in the plan from the beginning that God used the Jewish nation as a blessing to
the whole world in that All nations will be blessed through you was an Abrahamic promise given
when God called a people to be set apart for him and to

by either requesting to be a user s friend or simply finding a way around the user s privacy
settings. According to June Ahn, chat rooms are public and is an unmonitored space where
online predators are more likely to be. Adolescents are less likely to be targeted for unwanted
sexual solicitation in social media than chat rooms. (Ahn, June) I have found that, 412 adolescents
were more likely to talk with strangers. This is hazardous for young children and adolescents
because their lack of life experience leads them to blindly accept all friend request. The effort to

St Francis Of Assisi Research Paper
The Mysticism of the Great Saint Francis of Assisi Saint Francis of Assisi (1181 1226) was a
Roman Catholic preacher, he spent most of his later life, influencing others on practicing
Catholicism and a leader of the movement of evangelical poverty. The Oxford University Press

Francis Of Assisi has left us with a monumental message, we can all work together in reforming
our land despite the fact we come from a different religion, hierarchy, or place. He influenced us to

Comparing the Marxist and Functionalist Views on the Role...
Comparing the Marxist and Functionalist Views on the Role of Education in Industrial Society
The functionalists and the Marxists both believe that the education system benefits everyone, but
both have different views on society. The Marxist views of the education system are that there are
conflicts because there is an inequality between the working class and the higher classes. They
believe that there are two different classes which education produces, and that is the working class
and the ruling class. The people who don t achieve good grades in school and who aren t very
bright, will be known in society as the working class, and so won t have very good status jobs in
society, and the people that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A functionalist named Emile Durkheim believes that the education system introduces the
importance of social solidarity in people. He says Society can survive only if there exists among
its members a sufficient degree of homogeneity; education perpetuates and reinforces this
homogeneity by fixing in the child from the beginning the essential similarities which collective
life demands. So he believes that social life would be impossible without social solidarity
amongst people. Social solidarity is when a mass of individuals in a society is united as a whole,
and when people learn to respect their community and look after one another and their
surroundings. Education teaches people this at an early age, by giving history lessons because
this provides a link between the individual and the society in which they live in. In particular,
Durkheim s view are proved by the way pupils are taught in the U. S. A, where there educational
curriculum has introduced the pupils to take an oath to the Stars and Stripes at the start of every
school day, and so they are committed to their society at an early age. However a criticism to these
norms and values that he talks about is that different people have different norms and values to one
another.
Hargreaves who is another functionalist proposes a number of changes to the

Biological Determinism And Social And Economic Differences...
Question 1. Biological determinism as stated by Gould, states that shared behavioral norms, and
the social and economic differences between human groups primarily races, classes, and sexes
arise from inherited, inborn distinctions and that society, in this sense, is an accurate reflection
of biology (Gould, p.52). He explains this idea further through his explanation of how biological
determinism can be measured or assigned based on the craniometry, which is the size of the
skull, for at the time it was believed that the larger the skull, the more intelligent that individual
was. This explanation became one of the earliest works connected to scientific racism. Gould,
believed that during this time many scientists used their own prejudices, and bias s when
concluding their research, such as the work of French anthropologist, Paul Broca, who stated that
the small brains of women concluded that men were to be regarded as more intelligent, as well
as, above women, however, although women did prove this prejudice to be wrong with their
talents and their diplomas , they were still opposed by numbers (Gould, p. 58). Biological
determinism is, in its essence, a theory of limits for it states that people who are at the bottom are
basically biologically inferior, which is reflected in their social status (Gould, p. 60). Both Darwin
and Mendel contributed to biological determinism and scientific racism, is that both opened the
doors to new anthropological scientific

Their Eyes Were Watching God Literary Analysis
While reading the novel Their Eyes Were Watching God by Zora Neale Hurston, I examined the
motif of love and free will in which intertwines with the motif of gender roles. As the book
prolongs, Janie is seen continuously searching to fulfill her pursuit of finding the true love she once
fanaticized of. Janie first crafted her own representation of lovewhile stretched on her back beneath
the pear tree in the alto chant of the visiting bees (11). Her young innocence is connected to the
intimacy of nature in which the bee [sank] into the sanctum of a bloom (11). Janie s belief on

Tea Cake allowed Janie to involve herself in community activities while Starks tried to isolate

new and growing profound love Janie and Tea Cake have for one another. Soon, Janie got ready
to pick beans along with Tea Cake (133) because its mo nicer than settin round dese quarters

personal choice and love for Tea Cake whereas, before with Logan she was forced into it causing
no enjoyment. Janie learned what it felt like to be jealous (136) with Tea Cake involving
Nunkie and cut [Tea Cake] short with a blow (137). Instead of fighting back, Tea Cake kept
holding Janie s wrists (137), hurled her to the floor (137), and kissed [Janie] until she arched her
body to meet him (138). The resistance Tea Cake displays to use physical contact upon Janie
reveals Tea Cake s patient character. Also, it adds onto the motif of love where Janie and Tea
Cake have equally passionate feelings toward one another such that Janie is demonstrating
jealously which was absent in her previous marriages. Moreover, with the threat of the oncoming
hurricane and the turned down invite from one of the Bahman workers, Janie and Tea Cake s
relationship heightens. The soon appearance of the violent hurricane caused crashing (159),
hurdling (159), and questioning God (159). The hurricane brings the theme of religion where
God is mentioned throughout the text as a sense of hope and faith. However, Tea Cake and Janie

a near death experience. While fighting for her life by holding onto the tail of the cow (166) in the

Essay Factors Keeping China From Becoming Today s Super Power
There are significant inhibiting factors keeping China from becoming today s world power. One
of the main arguments is that China s economic success today is just a replica of the U.S.
housing bubble before it crashed (Robinson). They are building faster than their expanding
middle class can keep up with (Robinson), which was the exact problem the U.S. had right before
the market crashed and they fell into a recession. China would have to slow their rapid expansion
down in order to avoid crashing just like the U.S. did several years ago. Another argument against
China s candidacy as hegemon is that they act too much like a bullied nation (Ng). China feels the

It would be near impossible for China to replace the western set of ideals with their own in today
s established society. U.S. brands are also far more popular on the international scale. Products
like Coke and corporations like McDonalds can be found worldwide, while China does not have
products or chains like these. These U.S. companies show that the U.S. influence is widely
spread today, however with China s current economic boom, it would not be impossible for a
product or company to become popular internationally. China s current minimal militaristic
approach suggests that they do not want to become a world power through force if necessary, and
is instead focusing on their economic growth to further expand their influence. Today, there are
people who claim that China is beginning to colonize Africa: a staggering 750,000 Chinese have
settled in Africa over the past decade (Malone). Since Africa is home to an abundance of natural
resources, China wants to expand within Africa in order to gain control over their loosely regulated
trade market in order to gain more profits. While China has supplied some military sanctioned good

But in the long term the distribution channels would be clear and without interferences again. Also
it would be possible to have a clear marketing direction and therefore planning is possible again in
the future without interferences of the different distributors with each others. That would
practicably mean that Vreni should decide to get out of the contract of Asal Products, Inc. even
when there would be legal problems. Moreover, the business relationships to this company could be
worsened in the long run.
Another alternative should be to create a plant in Europe so now they don t have top ay all the
taxes they have to pay so they can export their products, in that way they will be able to give
better prices to their clients, and they will supposed to have a better service and more quality
because they where the pioneers in those products.
The last alternative could be to create a better marketing about their products, to compare their
brand with the competition so the market can understand that the differences between prices is
because of the good quality, the brand name, the knowledge, and that they are the only ones, the
expert ones on those kind of products.
Finally we think that a great alternative also could be to open a new market, for example if the
competitors are taking some of the market that they used to have when they

North American Free Trade ( Nafta ) And The International...
Ever since organizations and agreements like the North American Free Trade (NAFTA) and the
International Monetary Fund (IMF) were created around the end of World War 2 to supposedly help
the Third World nations to establish better economies and governments, they have only done more
harm than good for these nations. These third worldcountries end up becoming exploited and
extorted, forced to become dependent on the big international organizations like the IMF because of
the exorbitant interest rates charged on them, thus they remain forever in debt. The accumulation of
debt then allows the IMF to have more voice over how the indebted countries should be shaped and
how they should run their economy. What ends up happening then is that their... Show more content

Because of such policies, many women end up struggling at home and eventually, in desperation,
they end up leaving home to find work elsewhere. First, let us examine how economic policies like
the structural adjustment policies implemented by the IMF affect a country. A great example of
this is detailed in Ault and Sandberg s Our Policies, Their Consequences , where both authors
explore how seriously the structural adjustment policies changed the economic state in Zambia. As
these authors point out, the terms of the loans reflect the economic and political interests and
values of the world s wealthiest nations (470) . It is seen here already that that does not bode well
for Zambia. One clearly can see that globalization is just another way first world nations still
colonize the world, but instead through means of economic and trade conquests. Now, the article
continues on to talk about the kind of changes that the IMF implemented on Zambia: they wanted
them to devalue their currency and stop supporting many domestic programs, social welfare
programs, and fire federal employees and instead they wanted them to focus on increasing their
exports for the global market. And what are changes without its consequences? Because the IMF
favored the growth of international markets, the local economy in Zambia suffered greatly.

I chose to look at a strike taking place in the video game industry. Many voice actors feel that
they are not being paid enough for their services to the game making companies that they end up
working for. Jennifer Hale has played major roles in several extremely successful video game
titles such as the Halo, Mass Effect, and Bioshock series. She is part of a group known as the
Screen Actors Guild American Federation of Television and Radio Artists, also known as SAG
AFTRA. This is the group that has declared a strike against eleven different video game
publishers after nineteen months of failed negotiations regarding compensation. As mentioned
above, the problem at hand has to do with actors under the SAG AFTRA group and the large
video game producers they contract with. The workers are worried not just about compensation
for their work, but also transparency upon hiring and safety concerns on set. When asked about
the situation Hale is quoted saying I have friends who have had to have surgery because of the
vocal stress they incurred in the session and they ve been out of work for months. Currently, the
actors are being paid around $800 for a four hour vocal session and are pushing for secondary
compensation.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The main thing that needs to be looked at is the amount that these voice actors are being paid for
their four hours of service. Both sides also need to determine how many games are actually
going to reach the proposed two million copies sold threshold. Another criteria factor is how
many actors actually injure themselves while voice acting. I understand four hours is a long time
to be making noises, yelling, screaming, and talking but both sides need to assess how much
injury actually happens. You also need to compare what these people are being paid to what

Foreshadowing In The Black Cat
In The Black Cat , the use of foreshadowing serves to emphasize the theme that sinners will be
punished by justice. For example, when the narrator visits the ruins of his house, he sees on a
wall the figure of a gigantic cat [with] a rope about the animal s neck , foreshadowing how the
narrator will be put to death for murder. Moreover, he describes the form of white hair on his
second cats chest as the representation [...] of the GALLOWS! ‒ oh, mournful and terrible
engine of Horror and of Crime ‒ of Agony and of Death! , further foreshadowing his execution.
The fact that the motif of death by hanging always comes back to the narrator and that the gallows
represents to him an instrument of Crime and Death implies that suppressing his inner

Review of Culture Jam by Kalle Lasn
The advertising culture is having a devastating effect on our agendas of
becoming the media s ideal of perfection, and behind all of this self sacrifice the
media and corporations are the ones succeeding, not us. In Culture Jam, by Kale

mass media has been doing subliminally.
When the average American thinks of consumerism, we believe it is the promotion
of the consumer s interests. What Lasn believes is that we re being told what our

When I first picked this book up for class, I decided it would be a
great read. Something that would challenge my concrete thoughts and turn them into
better ideas. It has, to an extent. I could relate to almost each and every example
Lasn has discussed, but I saw no conclusion at any point. Normally when we, as
thoughtful humans, are so adiment about a topic, we like to clarify a quick solution,
even if we don t fully discuss the outcome or dive into detail. He offered this

ROMANS AND THE CHRISTIAN WORLDVIEW
ESSAY
Paul s argument in Romans is foundational to the Biblical/Christian Worldview. Paul brings to
realization of what God is revealing to the Christian World. Most Christians do not understand
the consequences of not obeying the moral laws and its values. Christians are influenced by
other religions because of the lack of understanding the expectations and the fact of being
accountable for their actions. Paul is presenting specific directions as how to live a godly life and
to show consideration to others. This is imperative for Christians in today s society as well as it

Romans 5:12 21, reveals before there was a law, sin was in the world. Adams fall brought sin into
this world, and sin brought death. Everyone has sinned because of the event that took place in the
garden. Death was spread to man because of Adams disobedience. Jesus went to the cross to redeem
man from sin, all have righteousness of God through Him. Christ brought life to all Christians who
believe in Him. Salvation: What does Roman teach about Salvation? Salvation is for everyone
who believes. The problem today is most people do not believe. Whether a person has the
physical bible today they still have a conscious. Even though people know about God they refuse
to be faithful and say thanks. People exchanged the truth of God for a lie. They would rather
believe that the creator has no claim on their lives, and choose to use things of the world. Belief
in the Gospel change people lives, and is the answer to obedience verses disobedience. It is of
the grace and the unmerited favor of God and no condemnation through Jesus Christ. The nature

gospel of God. Romans 8:3 relate Jesus as in the form of sinful flesh. Romans 1:1 Jesus is
explained to be descended from the line of David in his human nature, or as a man. Through Jesus

I feel the answer is yes and here s why. Much of these reasons are based on my own experiences
working as a federal law enforcement official with the United States Coast Guard overseas and
on the home front. All police should have effective methods to divert to when criminals are
hazardous or uncooperative. Usually police officers carry pepper spray, batons, and a firearm. In
many cases the baton is seen as brutal or violent method to get suspect to cooperate simply by
beating them. Then there is pepper spray which I have had personally shot in my face with. The
pain caused by pepper spray is intense ... [and causes] an involuntary closing of the eyes, a gagging
reflex, and temporary paralysis of the larynx (Wu, 371). It is very effective but on the flip side if a
officer sprays pepper spray the odds that some of the spray gets on the officer is also very likely
causing discomfort and possibly impairing the officer for seeing properly if it blows back in his
eyes. Also, pepper spray sometimes has no effect on people under the influence of drugs. Third,
there are firearms and let s face it if a gun is involved odds are very high that someone ends up
dead and that s never a good thing. I

Science And Science In John Wesson s The Science Of Soccer
Science is everywhere. John Wesson has proved that to many through his famous book, The
Science of Soccer. This book links both soccer and science together. Throughout this story the
simple idea of soccer will turn into a more complex version of science. Wesson teaches the
readers about how something so simple, like a ball bouncing, can relate to the more in depth laws
of physics. While reading this book one can learn what soccer really is, how scienceis described,
and how science and soccer are related. A common question in many young minds is, What is
soccer? . In the words of Wesson, Soccer s superiority derives from two sources, variety and
continuity. At each point in the game the players are faced with a wide range of options take the
ball past the opponent on this side or that, to pass short or long, low or high, to shoot or to lay
the ball off and to whom (Wesson 85). Soccer is a physical and mental sport. It is played with
your feet, however, it is the mind that does most of the hard work. It is also a team sport. It
consists of dribbling, passing, kicking, and much more. Sometimes there will be a bounce that
must be trapped, and others there will be moves needed to blow by a defender. The game varies.
For instance, the book also reads, The ball is kicked in a variety of ways according to the
circumstances. For a slow accurate pass the ball is pushed with the flat inside face of the foot. For
a hard shot the toes are dipped and the ball is struck

Banning The Advertising Of Tobacco Use
n this essay, I will discuss the positives and negatives related to countries banning the advertising of
tobacco use, the complexities of the argument, finished with my own perspective. This is a highly
argumentative debate that countries of the free world have argued for several decades.
I ll start by explaining the dangers of smoking tobacco. According to the Center of Disease Control
(CDC) in the United States of America, tobacco use contributes cancers of and not limited to:
mouth, esophagus, throat, and lungs.
On February 6, 2001, India signed into law, a restriction that prevents tobacco manufacturers from
advertising the sale of tobacco. According to a report found on the website icmrindia.org, it was
described as a bombshell in India.
This law is not uncommon globally. These types of laws have been a gradual occurrence for the
past 30+ years. The United States of America was an early, freedom based, country to enact such a
law. The law they created was signed into law on April 1, 1970. Countries that followed the United
State s lead, were France, Finland, and Norway. This is such a controversial topic, that it has found
it s arguments to their higher courts.
ARGUMENTS IN FAVOR OF THE BAN ON TOBACCO IN INDIA
It is believed that when countries ban the advertising of tobacco, consumption drops. It is also
believed that it sets a standard, of health morality, for it s citizens to live by. When it s citizens
stand behind a law that limits

I became friends with a fellow Freshmen on my team, she had being playing club Water polo for a

of them even gave me a crown that said Varsity Water Polo 2016 . When she gave it to me, I

store! Nevertheless, that is still one of my favorite memories. It was just so random that I loved
it, and still remember it to this day. Another Senior was really tall and really nice, she always
asked me how I was doing, and was always ready to give me hand. At the end of the season it
was really sad to see them have to go, I didn t see them at school very much, so I really only saw
them at practice, but I won t forget them anytime soon.
I definitely wasn t the best player on the team, and I m still not, but I did have some shining
moments. Like the the first time I made a goal. Now that I think about it, I think the only reason
I was able to get that goal was because. I was the only one on the other side of the pool, so when

Speaking Up for the Ones Who Cannot
Animal breeding is a commonly used process all over the world, used to bring new puppies into
the world for young children and families, or farm animals for more farming production.
However what most do not know is that those animals are not always from a nice pet store or a
facility that treats their animals well. Breeding animals like dogs or farming animals in places that
are illegal often times leads to forms of abuse for them. Puppy mills often times sell dogs that went
through painful treatment and are typically sick in some way. Health Beauty Close Up interviewed
some animal organizations who says a puppy mill is, a dog breeding operation, which offers dogs
for monetary compensation or remuneration, in which the physical, psychological and/or behavioral
needs of the dogs are not being fulfilled due to inadequate housing, shelter, staffing, nutrition,
socialization, sanitation, exercise, veterinary care, and/or inappropriate breeding ( Pet Industry and
Animal Welfare Organizations Team to Address Puppy Mill Abuse ). Some farming industries end
up treating their animals bad their entire lives or not even giving them the chance at life. Breeding
farm animals or dogs in mills should be banned because of terrible living conditions, breeding
being used for their profits, and giving animals illness or causing death.

Dr Mallard s Death And How Mrs. Mallard
1. My initial impression of this work was that it was going to be a story of sadness. The
beginning focuses on Brently Mallard s death and how Mrs. Mallard would deal with this. I also
realized that the narrator was an outside unknown character. This story was narrated in the third
person as well.
2. The genre of this selection is fiction.
3. The exposition of the story starts with a husband and wife. The wife loved him at times but
still they were together. Her husband has gone off and was believed to apart of the railroad
disaster, which was the cause of his death. The rising action of the story is when Mrs. Mallard
heard the news of her husband death and the way she would face it. Like the story said with a
paralyzed inability to accept its significance she was not sure what to think or do. She dealt with
the thought that all of the sudden her life changed. She felt something she could not identify
coming to her. The climax of the story is when she had realized that she was free. She no longer
would live for someone else but instead she would live her life for herself. This idea brought her
body a type of joy, and exhilaration she could not describe. The falling action in the story is when
the joy was beginning to affect her body too much. It was beginning to make her ill but she went
on with this joy. The denouement in the story is when the joy killed her and then a few seconds
after her husband came in. She believed that she was free from him cause of his death

Based on the given financial data, and the foundation s previous IRS 990 filings, the foundation

(Form 990 PF 2012)
As shown in the Form 990 PF for the past 3 years, the foundation managed positive cash reserves
as its total liabilities and net assets/fund balances were positive. The foundation was in relatively
good financial position during the 3 years.
During the year of 2014, total net assets or fund balances reduced from 72 million to 17 million. A
lower fund balances means the organization is efficiently in employing its resources to the mission
related work. The data showed the foundation was probably more actively spending its cash on
their mission in 2014 than in 2013.

The Fourth Amendment Protects Citizens From Unreasonable...
The Fourth
Amendment protects citizens from unreasonable search and seizure of property. This ensures that
the government cannot take a private citizen s property without their consent, a warrant or probable
cause. The Fifth Amendment protects private property in two ways. The first, it ensures that a
person cannot be deprived of private property without due process of law. This means that if the
government is to seize private property they must compensate the owner for the property being
seized. The second way it protects a person s property is by limiting eminent domain, or the right of
the government to seize land for public use, with compensation. In order for a plot of land to be
seized it must meet the criteria of eminent domain. This means that the property being seized
must be for the benefit of the public and the owner of the property must receive full, market
priced compensation for the property. Some might argue that Khosla s land should be seized via
eminent domain; however, that would mean that: a. Khosla would need to be compensated more
than $35 million dollars (2015 USD inflation calculated) in taxpayer money for the property and
b. allowing access to a beach does not necessarily benefit the public in the same way building a
road, or an irrigation system would. Critics of Khosla s actions typically claim he is in violation of
the California State Constitution and/or the California Coastal Act of 1976. Article X, Section 4 of

The Maine Lobster Festival
The Maine Lobster Festival is located in the western part of the state and is known for their
delicious lobster, lobster type foods, and the World s Largest Lobster Cooker. There is roughly
80,000 people that visit this festival every year because it won an award in a magazine stating it
was one of the best foodthemed festivals in the world. I remember the first time I tried lobster,
before, I was very suspicious about sea food but my friend recommended that I try it and I have
loved it since. Lobster is known for being a high class meal, but in the 1800 s it was fed to the low
class and inmates. Some states even made it a law that they cannot have lobster more than once a
week because it is considered cruel and unusual punishment. In Maine,

Media Analysis of Gender Essay
First of all, in The Simpsons, the scene where we get into the actual plot of the story opens with
Marge and Lisa walking into a department store that sells dolls. The gender stereotype that girls
are only interested in playing with dolls is reinforced here as a huge selection of Malibu Stacy
dolls is on display with a throng of screeching, bloodthirsty girls tearing the store apart. Lisa says,
I m warning you mom, I might get a little crazy. and immediately knocks down a girl and
snatches another in a choke hold to be the first in line for the new Malibu Stacy doll. In the very
next scene we have the whole family in the car with Homer driving. He is baking a cupcake with
an easy bake oven that he bought from the mall. Marge advises him... Show more content on

The show makes an obvious distinction between how men/boys and women/girls act. Anyway,
the episode continues with lisa playing with her doll pretending that Malibu Stacy is giving a
speech at the U.N, but Lisa is disappointed when she realizes that the new and improved doll says
sexist remarks such as don t ask me, I m just a girl and let s buy make up so that boys will like
us! . Lisa goes on a rant about how millions of girls will grow up thinking that this is the right
way to act! That they cannot be anything more than vacuous ninnies...! and gets really mad
when Bart does not understand why she is so upset. The difference in communication styles is
shown here as Lisa is more adept with words than Bart is as Bart can only give Lisa a stupid
reply like that s what I was going to say. This illustrates the stereotype that girls are more
expressive and sensitive than boys are. On the other hand, Marge plays the more traditional
housewife as her mind never delves into issues that are not relevant to the domestic center; she is
not privy to relevant discussions on social issues like Lisa and cannot understand why Lisa is so
upset. She said that Lisa had been speaking up an awful lot lately. This suggests that typical lady
like behavior does not include speaking out and that the mother should enforce positive female
behavior. Additionally, in

Never Cry Wolf Essay
What is the first thing you think of when you hear about wolves? For Farley he sees them as being
ferocious animals like most people, but discovering that they are not murderous creatures is harder
to except than expected. In Farley Mowat s novel, Never
Cry Wolf, Farley reveals that despite the wolves gentile, innocent nature, Farley and mankind have
been brainwashed by the media and the bureaucracy, they make people believe the wolves kill
immense amounts of caribou each year, exclaiming so in false dishonest tales. Farley makes many
miraculous discoveries about wolves, that he has a hard time excepting them because they are so
far from what he was taught, and how the bureaucracy portrays them. Mowat comprehends that, the

What might be so clear to some people can be so completely cloudy to others,
Farley Mowat has a difficult task of trying to understand the lupine species, because they are so
different then there depicted. When you observe juvenile cartoons about wolves, most of them
make an impression that they are barbaric creatures, but in reality minuscule insects can be more
brutal. ... The most bloodthirsty beasts in the arctic are not wolves but the insatiable mosquitoes
(54). Furthermore, Farley expects when you come within 15 yards of a wolf, you should be
prepared to be attacked or at the least threatened, except this particular wolf [is] so self engrossed
that he [comes] straight on within 15 yards of [him], and might of right pass the tent without seeing
it at all (54). Mowat aforementioned that this animal is self engrossed (54),claiming such
inaccurate assumptions, reveals Farley s true ignorance toward the creature, it not that it is self
absorbed, it is just that it did not mind or feel in need to attack.
Farley felt uncomfortable at being so totally ignored (54), he was left expecting something more
to happen. So on, The most infamous legend of the lupine species is that they are vicious beasts
that kill for fun, to Farley s surprise this fable is exceedingly fictitious. Once a kill [has] been made
the wolves did no more hunting

Prudhoe Bay Research Paper
Prudhoe Bay is a town in the Arctic region of Alaska; it is also called Sagavanirktok. It is a
significant industrious economical area because the largest oilfield in all of North America is
located in Prudhoe Bay. This does not give economical advances to just Alaska s economy, but also
the country s economy. Prudhoe Bay s major oil producers are British Petroleumand Phillips; other
minor oil companies are Brooks Range, Anadarko, Exxon, and Eni. Prudhoe Bay has an abundance
of oil an example of the amount is, in around 1 day 1 million barrels of oil are produced meaning in
around 25 years 15 billion barrels of oil have been produced. Gary Hoefs (2002)The Trans Alaskan

The environment is described as a tundra which means a the land is a flat treeless area. Prudhoe
Bay is bordered by the Arctic Ocean which are where most of the petroleum reserves are located.
Because the geography is so flat, the oil rises up from geological pressure under the ground. This
is one of the reasons oil is found here by the barrels. Though the plant life seems a bit sparse many
animals reside in this natural habitat and thrive off the habitat; common animals of this area are
caribou, migratory birds, bears and many more. Because Prudhoe bay is located in the far north,
climate is low; the average temperature is 11.2 degrees fahrenheit with lowest temperatures in
February and January of around 30 degrees fahrenheit; and highest temperatures in July with an
average of around 50 degrees fahrenheit. Wind of 11mph makes Prudhoe bay even colder
Alexander Merkel( CLIMATE:PRUDHOE BAY, n.d.). Sunlight hours in the North have a common
pattern although there are slight differences; in Prudhoe bay through May 15th July 27th there are
24 hours of straight sunlight, and in December through January their are around 13 hours of no

An Reader s Creation Of Meaning
Have you ever read a page or two from a book and realize you have no remembrance of what was
written on those pages? It is easy for our minds to drift away from what we re reading, causing us
to lose comprehension of the book. When working with children, it is important for them to
comprehend the books they read. Although a child may say a book was good or they liked that
particular book, did they fully comprehend what they read? To be certain whether children
comprehend what they are reading, teachers use retellings in order to evaluate their reading
performance. Retellings are truly the reader s creation of meaning.
A retelling is a way of assessing and evaluating students memories, reactions, and understandings of
their reading (2000). These activities are important because it is a way of evaluating the quality of
students comprehension. When teachers evaluate students retelling, they are measuring the reader s
construction of meaning. During these evaluations, teachers are looking to see if students cite
specific story elements from the text, such as the characters, plot, setting, resolution, and theme, if
their retelling was sequential (beginning, middle, and end), if the student made inferences to fill in
the missing information, and if they are making connections to the story. Teachers also evaluate
whether the student omitted any information, such as main ideas, details to support main ideas,
evidence of inferential thinking, and key vocabulary to understanding

Essay about History Still Matters Questions
1.) Moyers compares the study of history to the view in the rearview mirror. In what ways is this
quote an apt comparison?
I don t know how to drive, but I ve heard that your rearview mirror is extremely important, as is
history. It s like looking behind you, or that phrase, How do you know where you re going, if you
don t know where you ve been? History can be boring, but generally when it s boring, it s probably
being told wrong. People and stories are interesting and they make up who we are, and we need
them. If we toss out that mirror (our history), we re likely to back up into something nasty or get
rear ended. The moral is, if we know our history we can avoid making some large mistakes,
because we ll be able to see a little ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Do you think he s correct? Explain.
Moyers suggests that as Americans, we consider ourselves so advanced and the world has
changed so much in our eyes, that we consider history to be inapplicable to ourselves. I think he
s correct in saying that that is how many Americans think. Our society is very in the now , with
Twitter, and FB Status updates, Instagram, and What s Trending Now?, we re seeking as a whole
to be seen NOW, not yesterday. I wish that people weren t like this, but being a capitalist society,
people should have seen it coming. We care mostly about ourselves now, so why should we listen
to what someone else did a long time ago?
5.) Do you think we can learn from the past, or have our circumstances changed so dramatically that
the past is irrelevant? Explain your position.
I think the past will always be extremely relevant. Life is full of billions of possibilities and it s
hard to make choices sometimes, by knowing even a little bit about the past, you re much more
likely to end up where you want to be. You can draw on situations in the past to help you make
decisions about situations in the present. Yes, there are a lot of things that are extremely different
now, but there have always been times in history where things had just become extremely different.

Klebsiella Pneumoniae Research Paper
In modern times, Klebsiella pneumoniae is known to be a tenacious bacteria, labeled by many as
a Superbug . It was noted in the year 1882 and eventually named after Dr. Edwin Klebs; genus
Klebsiella. Found in many animal species, including humans, K. pneumoniae resides in the
intestines, skin, mouth and is considered part of the normal flora. In our world wide environment,
it may be found in soil and on vegetables, giving it easy access to humans. As an organism of
opportunity, K. pneumoniae is able to survive and multiply in a variety of conditions. It is benign,
perhaps helpful to animals when in the intestines, it is harmful when it infects other areas of the
body. In humans, the lungs and the bladder are the two typical infection sites and are the most
detrimental. Typically, the elderly or compromised tend to acquire these infections.... Show more

  • 2. What It Take to Be a Scholarly Writier Essay examples Scholarly writing is no different from all other writing, except, beside it having a purpose and having an audience like any other writings, scholarly writing is evidence based (Laureate Education, 2012). It is important, since the scholar practitioner write for a specific audience, that his or her material be free of personal opinion, assumption, and bias. When writinga scholarly material, a scholar practitioner has to be objective in tone, write clearly, concise, produce a mechanically correct writing that contains evidence based material. Before starting writing, a scholar practitioner, first would consider the purpose of the writing, then the audience being addressed in the writing. As a Walden student and a... Because once the scholar practitioner found material, it is up to that individual to establish the validity and usefulness of the source (Laureate Education, 2013). The Essential Guide to Online Learning states that scholarly writing is material written for a specific purpose to a specific audience. It s based on evidence, not assumptions or opinions. It s objective in tone, and the writing is clear, concise, and mechanically correct (Laureate Education, 2013). For an effective writing, it is necessary that scholar practitioner write clearly, be concise, and use of precise and appropriate terms to ensure that the writing is mechanically correct as Professor Lilburn Hoehn said, Figure out what you want to say and just say it (Laureate Education, 2007). When looking at clarity and concision of writing, I read a post on the difference between Piaget and Erickson developmental theory. After a discussion on points, which set these two theories apart, the writer finally concluded with these statements: Erikson believed development went beyond the years of development that Piaget focused on. Both theorists believed in the importance of developmental stages of younger years of life. Piaget believed development went beyond the younger years of life and went past even into the years of ... Workplace Diversity Canadian Business Comparison Report The Canadian business comparison report comprises of the companies details and also the comparison between a Canadian local business and Indian local business. For this report I have chosen Canada s Dollarama and India s D Mart as both company have same target market. Dollarama is Canada s leading dollar store with 900 locations across Canada. Larry Rossy, a third generation retailer, founded the company in 1992. The first Dollarama store opened in April 1992, in a shopping center Les promenades du St Laurent in Matane, Quebec. The products sold are in single or multiple pieces at selected price point of not more than $3. The company aims to provide customers with a consistent... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They also provide insurance and pension benefits for employee. Dollarama has a diverse working environment and the employees have the opportunity to enhance their retail as well as management skills and build a respectable career in the retail industry. Dollarama also provides the employees with competitive benefit packages which includes medical and drug plans, life and disability insurance. The employees can also opt in company matched pension plan. Dollarama has a diversified culture as the company hires locals as well as international students for part time/full time jobs. As there is a college nearby Dollarama has many international students working for them. D Mart on other hand hires locals for job as there are not many international students in India. Also because of low wages in India (for most of the firms) no international student applies for job. Dollarama hires employees from age bracket of 16 60 years and varies from the position applied. The store manager s age group is from 50 60 years and the assistant manager s age group is 40 50 years. The key holder s age group is from 25 45 years. D Mart hires employees from age group of 18 50 years. The manager s age group varies from 35 50 years depending on experience and qualification. The store associates age group is from 18 35 years. D Mart selects its candidates based on their qualification and previous work experience. To ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Greek Theatre And Modern Theatre Without a doubt, the Greek theatre remains one of the most recognized and distinctive works in the world. While we associate many features of modern theatre with their Greek counterparts, ancient theatre was a very different animal. You will be surprised at how much Ancient Greece has influenced us today. Without such topics such as drama, democracy and the Olympics coming from Ancient Greece, sport would not be important. Drama was a huge part of ancient Greece. Theatre then became extremely popular performed everywhere including festivals. Greek Tragedyand Comedy was significantly important as not only did it provide entertainment for the ancient Greeks, but has continued to influence society today, inspiring us to create similar styles of theatre into contemporary plays today. Within this essay I hope to show how these ancient plays have transitioned into our modern theatre, and how directors today have morphed them into relevant and relatable productions. M Cartwright wrote sources which provides us with information on both Greek Comedy and Tragedy. In the 6th century BCE, Greek tragedy played an important and influential role in theatre. The popular form of drama was performed all over Greece. The most well known playwrights have come from Greek tragedy such as Sophocles, and Euripides whose plays remained recognised, and continued to be performed for years after their original premiere. Comedy was also a popular type of theatre in the late 6th century. The most famous playwrights of the genre were Aristophanes and Menander and their works, and those of their contemporaries, poked fun at politicians, philosophers, and fellow artists. (Cartwright 2017). The source informed me the first appearance of Comedy, pottery in the 6th century, used for decoration, often portrayed actors dressed as horses, satyrs, and dancers in exaggerated costumes. (Cartwright 2017). Poetry was also another early source of comedy. Archilochus and Hipponax were Greek poets whose satyr works used crude and sexual humour. Cartwright explained in his source that these plays were performed at the City of Dionysia and the Lenaea which were major religious festivals. Over the course of the festivals, comedies were ... • 7. Peaceful Civil Disobedience Civil disobedience is a timeless practice that has been carried on from generation to generation, from Socrates refusal to execute Leon of Salamis to today s Syrian rebels fight for freedom. In many cases of injustice, the public will rise up to reclaim their human rights, and ever so often these fights are nonviolent in nature and educational to all the people who engage in it. However, even in acts of nonviolent demonstrations, both the demonstrator and the demonstrated can be hurt. So the question arises: does peaceful disobedience positively impact a free society? Or does such disobedience only contribute to the tension already apparent? The answer to this question, simply put, is that civil disobediencecan positively impact a free society in more ways than one. Peaceful civil disobedience is one of the most important aspects that exemplifies a truly free society, for the ability of a group to protest against injustice is true human freedom. Peaceful demonstrations can also encourage better and stronger livelihood among people who are oppressed, since these actions can and will open the eyes of oppressors, and as a result such... • 8. Racial Inequality In Brazil Towards the end of the 19th century, immigration to Brazil began to rapidly increase. The demand for coffee continued to increase, and the coffee production industry expanded due to an influx in immigrants from Japan, Portugal, Spain, Italy, as well as several other European countries. Brazil was a divided nation, lacking a unified population or shared culture. The goal of allowing an influx of European immigrants into the country was to conform to European culture, and civilize Brazil. Essentially, Brazil had desires to whiten the population. The largely black, and Mulatto population quickly began to transform into predominantly white. Racial inequality and discrimination marked Brazil, and created distinct divisions amongst the population. Following abolition, Afro Brazilians had immense difficulty in defining their own place in Brazilian society. Prior to the 1980s, racist attitudes as well the intention of Westernizing Brazil, made it challenging for Afro Brazilians to achieve economic or social mobility. Beginning in the 20th century, efforts to diminish racial inequality became increasingly necessary to Brazil. Afro Brazilians have faced severe inequity post abolition, however in recent decades the eradication of racial inequality has become imperative. Scientific racism emerged in Brazil from France, and was rooted from the philosophy positivism. Positivism was an ideology that declared any rational observation or idea can be scientifically, logically, or ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

My poster expresses these themes through colors, images and symbols. On my poster the color purple shows up multiple times in the text to show the reader a back round message. The color purple is an archetype that represents the un natural and supernatural. One of the supernatural occurrences in the poem is when the narrator states And the silken sad uncertain rustling of each purple curtain thrilled me in the quote that color purple shows up. After those curtains shook in the wind supernatural things occurred. I used this color in my poster because many supernatural events occur throughout the play. The raven was one of the main archetypes in the play. In my poster I added a bold black raven in the center. The raven is made out of the words nevermore which is the name of the raven. Normally the archetype of a bird would mean freedom. A bird can fly wherever it wants and let the wind take it. In this case its different, a black raven appeared which was a different sign. A black raven represents sickness and death. The black raven relates to the theme because in the poem they use specific lines to describe the setting and emotion of the poem such as by the grave and stern decorum this line is referring to dark and deathly setting of the environment the narrator is in. Another symbolic archetype I added in my poster was the dark forest submerged in mist. The symbolization of a forest is the unknown as well as darkness and the symbolization of the mist is mystery. This eerie back round shows that there is an unknown mystery to come in the future. This relates to the theme because darkness is being portrayed all the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 10. The Principles Of The Kingdom Of God The Principles of the Kingdom of God are found abundantly within the text writings of the Gospels and other books within the Bible. It is easy to see that the Kingdom of God came upon us when Jesus walked the earth teaching, healing and preaching; doing the works of our Father, God Almighty. This essay will attempt to bring to light methods which Jesusused to teach those around him and touch on some of the aspects of the Kingdom of God. Robert Coleman (1993) listed the methods used by Jesus as selection, association, impartation, delegation and reproduction. In this progressive teaching method Jesus chose his disciples, associated with them and gave them a living example. He then set them out to complete tasks based upon his teachings. This process was eventually restarted when the disciples themselves chose students of their own. The First Principle of the Kingdom of God The Kingdom is for the Jew first then the Gentile, however; the Kingdom will be taken away and given to a people who will produce its fruit (Matthew 21:43). Perhaps the Kingdom will be taken away from the Jew and given to the Gentile to produce its fruits, to preach the Gospel to the nations, to heal the sick and continue the works of the Father. It was in the plan from the beginning that God used the Jewish nation as a blessing to the whole world in that All nations will be blessed through you was an Abrahamic promise given when God called a people to be set apart for him and to ... Comparing the Marxist and Functionalist Views on the Role of Education in Industrial Society The functionalists and the Marxists both believe that the education system benefits everyone, but both have different views on society. The Marxist views of the education system are that there are conflicts because there is an inequality between the working class and the higher classes. They believe that there are two different classes which education produces, and that is the working class and the ruling class. The people who don t achieve good grades in school and who aren t very bright, will be known in society as the working class, and so won t have very good status jobs in society, and the people that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A functionalist named Emile Durkheim believes that the education system introduces the importance of social solidarity in people. He says Society can survive only if there exists among its members a sufficient degree of homogeneity; education perpetuates and reinforces this homogeneity by fixing in the child from the beginning the essential similarities which collective life demands. So he believes that social life would be impossible without social solidarity amongst people. Social solidarity is when a mass of individuals in a society is united as a whole, and when people learn to respect their community and look after one another and their surroundings. Education teaches people this at an early age, by giving history lessons because this provides a link between the individual and the society in which they live in. In particular, Durkheim s view are proved by the way pupils are taught in the U. S. A, where there educational curriculum has introduced the pupils to take an oath to the Stars and Stripes at the start of every school day, and so they are committed to their society at an early age. However a criticism to these norms and values that he talks about is that different people have different norms and values to one another. • 14. Biological Determinism And Social And Economic Differences... Question 1. Biological determinism as stated by Gould, states that shared behavioral norms, and the social and economic differences between human groups primarily races, classes, and sexes arise from inherited, inborn distinctions and that society, in this sense, is an accurate reflection of biology (Gould, p.52). He explains this idea further through his explanation of how biological determinism can be measured or assigned based on the craniometry, which is the size of the skull, for at the time it was believed that the larger the skull, the more intelligent that individual was. This explanation became one of the earliest works connected to scientific racism. Gould, believed that during this time many scientists used their own prejudices, and bias s when concluding their research, such as the work of French anthropologist, Paul Broca, who stated that the small brains of women concluded that men were to be regarded as more intelligent, as well as, above women, however, although women did prove this prejudice to be wrong with their talents and their diplomas , they were still opposed by numbers (Gould, p. 58). Biological determinism is, in its essence, a theory of limits for it states that people who are at the bottom are basically biologically inferior, which is reflected in their social status (Gould, p. 60). Both Darwin and Mendel contributed to biological determinism and scientific racism, is that both opened the doors to new anthropological scientific ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

As the book prolongs, Janie is seen continuously searching to fulfill her pursuit of finding the true love she once fanaticized of. Janie first crafted her own representation of lovewhile stretched on her back beneath the pear tree in the alto chant of the visiting bees (11). Her young innocence is connected to the intimacy of nature in which the bee [sank] into the sanctum of a bloom (11). Moreover, with the threat of the oncoming hurricane and the turned down invite from one of the Bahman workers, Janie and Tea Cake s relationship heightens. • 20. Essay Factors Keeping China From Becoming Today s Super Power There are significant inhibiting factors keeping China from becoming today s world power. One of the main arguments is that China s economic success today is just a replica of the U.S. housing bubble before it crashed (Robinson). They are building faster than their expanding middle class can keep up with (Robinson), which was the exact problem the U.S. had right before the market crashed and they fell into a recession. China would have to slow their rapid expansion down in order to avoid crashing just like the U.S. did several years ago. Another argument against China s candidacy as hegemon is that they act too much like a bullied nation (Ng). China feels the need to react strongly when negative remarks are directed at them, which... U.S. brands are also far more popular on the international scale. Products like Coke and corporations like McDonalds can be found worldwide, while China does not have products or chains like these. These U.S. companies show that the U.S. influence is widely spread today, however with China s current economic boom, it would not be impossible for a product or company to become popular internationally. China s current minimal militaristic approach suggests that they do not want to become a world power through force if necessary, and is instead focusing on their economic growth to further expand their influence. Today, there are people who claim that China is beginning to colonize Africa: a staggering 750,000 Chinese have settled in Africa over the past decade (Malone). Since Africa is home to an abundance of natural resources, China wants to expand within Africa in order to gain control over their loosely regulated trade market in order to gain more profits. While China has supplied some military sanctioned good of their own (Malone), they supplies that they have given pale in comparison next to what the U.S. owns and has lent out to other countries due to the large gap in technological innovation between the two. As these authors point out, the terms of the loans reflect the economic and political interests and values of the world s wealthiest nations (470) . One clearly can see that globalization is just another way first world nations still colonize the world, but instead through means of economic and trade conquests. Wesson teaches the readers about how something so simple, like a ball bouncing, can relate to the more in depth laws of physics. While reading this book one can learn what soccer really is, how scienceis described, and how science and soccer are related. A common question in many young minds is, What is soccer? . The law they created was signed into law on April 1, 1970. Countries that followed the United State s lead, were France, Finland, and Norway. This is such a controversial topic, that it has found it s arguments to their higher courts. • 44. The Fourth Amendment Protects Citizens From Unreasonable... The Fourth Amendment protects citizens from unreasonable search and seizure of property. This ensures that the government cannot take a private citizen s property without their consent, a warrant or probable cause. The Fifth Amendment protects private property in two ways. The first, it ensures that a person cannot be deprived of private property without due process of law. This means that if the government is to seize private property they must compensate the owner for the property being seized. The second way it protects a person s property is by limiting eminent domain, or the right of the government to seize land for public use, with compensation. In order for a plot of land to be seized it must meet the criteria of eminent domain. This means that the property being seized must be for the benefit of the public and the owner of the property must receive full, market priced compensation for the property. Some might argue that Khosla s land should be seized via eminent domain; however, that would mean that: a. Khosla would need to be compensated more than $35 million dollars (2015 USD inflation calculated) in taxpayer money for the property and b. allowing access to a beach does not necessarily benefit the public in the same way building a road, or an irrigation system would. Critics of Khosla s actions typically claim he is in violation of the California State Constitution and/or the California Coastal Act of 1976. Article X, Section 4 of the ... Media Analysis of Gender Essay First of all, in The Simpsons, the scene where we get into the actual plot of the story opens with Marge and Lisa walking into a department store that sells dolls. The gender stereotype that girls are only interested in playing with dolls is reinforced here as a huge selection of Malibu Stacy dolls is on display with a throng of screeching, bloodthirsty girls tearing the store apart. Lisa says, I m warning you mom, I might get a little crazy. and immediately knocks down a girl and snatches another in a choke hold to be the first in line for the new Malibu Stacy doll. Lisa goes on a rant about how millions of girls will grow up thinking that this is the right way to act! That they cannot be anything more than vacuous ninnies...! and gets really mad when Bart does not understand why she is so upset. The difference in communication styles is shown here as Lisa is more adept with words than Bart is as Bart can only give Lisa a stupid reply like that s what I was going to say. This illustrates the stereotype that girls are more expressive and sensitive than boys are. On the other hand, Marge plays the more traditional housewife as her mind never delves into issues that are not relevant to the domestic center; she is not privy to relevant discussions on social issues like Lisa and cannot understand why Lisa is so upset. She said that Lisa had been speaking up an awful lot lately. This suggests that typical lady like behavior does not include speaking out and that the mother should enforce positive female behavior. Mowat aforementioned that this animal is self engrossed (54),claiming such inaccurate assumptions, reveals Farley s true ignorance toward the creature, it not that it is self absorbed, it is just that it did not mind or feel in need to attack. Farley felt uncomfortable at being so totally ignored (54), he was left expecting something more to happen. • 50. An Reader s Creation Of Meaning Have you ever read a page or two from a book and realize you have no remembrance of what was written on those pages? It is easy for our minds to drift away from what we re reading, causing us to lose comprehension of the book. When working with children, it is important for them to comprehend the books they read. Although a child may say a book was good or they liked that particular book, did they fully comprehend what they read? To be certain whether children comprehend what they are reading, teachers use retellings in order to evaluate their reading performance. Retellings are truly the reader s creation of meaning. A retelling is a way of assessing and evaluating students memories, reactions, and understandings of their reading (2000). These activities are important because it is a way of evaluating the quality of students comprehension. When teachers evaluate students retelling, they are measuring the reader s construction of meaning. During these evaluations, teachers are looking to see if students cite specific story elements from the text, such as the characters, plot, setting, resolution, and theme, if their retelling was sequential (beginning, middle, and end), if the student made inferences to fill in the missing information, and if they are making connections to the story. Teachers also evaluate whether the student omitted any information, such as main ideas, details to support main ideas, evidence of inferential thinking, and key vocabulary to understanding ... I don t know how to drive, but I ve heard that your rearview mirror is extremely important, as is history. It s like looking behind you, or that phrase, How do you know where you re going, if you don t know where you ve been? History can be boring, but generally when it s boring, it s probably being told wrong. People and stories are interesting and they make up who we are, and we need them.
