Culture Shock among International Students in the United States
Every year, thousands of international students attend colleges and universities in the
United States which requires them to adapt to a new environment. This often results
in a huge culture shock experience. Culture shock is defined as the outcome of stress
and tension resulting from contact with a new culture and the feelings of loss,
confusion and impotence, which is often due to loss of accustomed cultural cues and
social rules. This research focuses on the impact of culture and language, religion, and
personality on the adaptation of international students to the U.S. culture. It also
examines the adaptation process and culture shock experience of international
students in the United States by looking at similarities and differences among
international students with different cultural backgrounds and determines how stress,
social support, English proficiency, region/country of origin and length of residence
in the United States can affect the process of adaptation to a new culture.

Reformation Era that are important. The Reformation Era made a big impact in

The Origin Of The Ais Indians
Long before the Western countries discovered North America, the Native Americans
lived and thrived here. Historians believe these wandering peoples crossed over a
land bridge that formed when the earth froze over, officially named Beringia, to get
to North America. These nomadic Natives began spreading and forming different
tribes around North America. One of the many tribes was the AisIndians of Florida.
By themselves, the tribes reigned the New World, but contact with the Westerns
began their tragic demise. Although little is known about the origins of the Ais
Indians, historians do know that they settled around 1000 BC. The Ais Indians were
located on the Atlantic Coast of Florida, from present day Cape Canaveral to St.
Lucie. This area would have covered four counties: Brevard, Indian River, St.
Lucie, and the northern part of Martin. The Ais Indians resided in towns and
villages along the Indian River in huts. Similar to any group of people, the Ais had
a leader called the Cacique. The Cacique was determined by whom the most
respected matrilineal family was in the tribe. Unlike the traditions of the West, the
Cacique would rule through suggestion instead of force. Regarding to housing, the
huts they lived in were framed with wood or sticks, then they were covered in

The Oregon Historical District is a twelve city block area in Dayton, Ohio that is
registered with the National Register of Historic Places. This reasonably small area

Executive Summary: There are 22 Seattle golf courses included in the sample data.
The public courses do not charge seasonal green fees, charging one rate no matter
the weather or temperature. Our goal is to derive the demand function for gold
courses in relation to the price, as well as a best estimate of the demand function for
specifically the MGS courses. Furthermore, we will use the data to advise MGS on
the benefits of constructing additional driving ranges and paving paths for golf carts,
and if these will lead to an increase of revenue. Finally, we will provide insight on
whether the elasticity of demand for golf courses is seasonal in nature, and if the
implementation of seasonal rates will lead to an increase of revenue. We first started
by examining the different variables in relation to rounds, and seeing their

In 1944, medical doctor Miklos Nyiszli, a Hungarian Jew and family man, arrived
at the Auschwitz camp in Poland. In an effort to stay alive after being separated
from his daughter and wife though he feared his days would soon be counted he
volunteered to work as a pathologist under Nazi Dr. Josef Mengele. Working under
the supervision of a Nazi superior meant one became Sonderkommando. As a
Sonderkommando, one had the privilege to wear civilian clothes and receive better
meals. Hence, working for Dr. Mengele, Dr. Nyiszli had certain privileges other
Jewish prisoners did not obtain. The Nazi government to provide a way to enhance
the Aryan species sponsored Dr. Mengele in his horrific human experiments; Twins
were especially of interest as Dr. Mengele was trying to find a way to get Aryan
women give birth to blond and blue eyed twins. Being a Sonderkommando, Dr.
Nyiszli assisted Dr. Mengele with various cruel experiments such as injecting
chemicals in twins eyeballs in an attempt to change their eye color to blue and felt
his fate was pre determined due to his knowledge of the experiments. Every four
months the Sonderkommandos were killed. He writes, I had the feeling I was

interesting and I have quite a similar personality. It is the seventh largest constellation

In Greek mythology, Pegasus was a white winged horse. The most famous/well

During the course of Dulce et Decorum Est, by Wilfred Owen, the Horatian image
of a glorified and idealized war is stripped away to reveal the bitter and vicious
nature of a new era in the history of conflict. Language and imagery are employed to
great effect in conveying this notion, in the rejection of the strong and patriotic
soldier stereotype, the description of the chlorinegas attack, the portrayal of the
agonized and dying soldier, and the final scathing invective against those who exalt
war, for example the intended target of the poem, Jessie Pope.

The somewhat hyperbolic declaration that All went lame, all blind shows how the
men had lost sight of the objectives of the War as it descended into a bloody and
lawless conflict with both sides just caring about how much they hate the other. On a
more obvious level, this could also refer to the clouded senses and numbed bodies of
the soldiers, overcome by the sheer stress of the War. By emasculating the soldiers
and describing the enhancement of their weaknesses and faults, Owen conveys the
harsh reality of war to its proponents.
Stanzas Two and Three convey not only the panic and fear that overtakes men in
the heat of war, but the weight and devastating impact of a commander s
responsibility and the caustic guilt that ensues from perceived failure of one s
duties. The first four words of the second stanza, Gas! Gas! Quick, boys! are
disjointed, fractured and monosyllabic. They inject pace into the poem, forcing the
tempo up from the sluggish lethargy of the first verse, creating a sense of raw panic
and terror. The words seem almost incongruous, they do not belong in the poem,
they are frenzied orders shouted out in the midst of a war. This lends a sense of
gritty realism to the poem and is a scathing retort to the archaic concept of a refined,
calm and unruffled soldier. The soldiers are presented as clumsy, weak and pathetic,
unable to fulfil even simple tasks.

Historians believe these wandering peoples crossed over a land bridge that formed when the earth froze over, officially named Beringia, to get to North America. These nomadic Natives began spreading and forming different tribes around North America. One of the many tribes was the AisIndians of Florida. By themselves, the tribes reigned the New World, but contact with the Westerns began their tragic demise. Although little is known about the origins of the Ais Indians, historians do know that they settled around 1000 BC. The Ais Indians were located on the Atlantic Coast of Florida, from present day Cape Canaveral to St. Lucie. This area would have covered four counties: Brevard, Indian River, St. Lucie, and the northern part of Martin. The Ais Indians resided in towns and villages along the Indian River in huts.
