To What Extent Did The Collapse Of Apartheid South Africa...
To what extent did the collapse of Apartheid in South Africa (1991) really bring about change for the
Bantu population?
The collapse of Apartheid in South Africa (1991) brought only a small amount of change for the Bantu
population. South still faces racism in society, due to the continual domination by the white population
with race interaction limited to the false rainbow television campaigns and promotional Africa
strategies. At the close of Apartheid, a number of false statements were used to convince the people of
South Africa of this ideology. A rainbow nation where reconciliation without justice had virtue. This
illusion of equality is still evident through the white socioeconomic clubs and areas still maintaining

Apartheid was a reaction by these Afrikaners to this rapid change. This insistence on racial apartness
became the political and legal doctrine of apartheid. It was an accepted Government policy that the
Bantu (native) are only temporarily residents in the European (white) areas of the Republic for as long
as they offer their labour there. (The Department of Bantu Administration and Administration 1957)
This injustice of apartheid towards the Bantu population is evident through the unfair distribution of
land. 80% of South Africa s land was given to the white minority population of the time, despite the
fact that they consisted of less than 10% of the population. The government also introduced influx
control laws to limit the number of permits released to black South Africans allowing them to leave
their homelands and work in cities or on white farms. The white government s forceful policies
included little to no spending on significant finances, which constructed services in the Bantu
Homelands. Schools hospitals and public transport, reliable electricity and running water, public
telephones and sewerage systems were rare. (L. Thompson, op cit, p 201.) This inequality and
unfairness towards the Bantu population was evident for many years before apartheid collapsed.
In 1989, the National Party of South Africa elected a new leader, F.W. de Klerk. 1989. The communist

Starbucks Coffee And The Coffee Company
Enthusiast coffee drinker or not, people of all generations have heard of the popular franchise
Starbucks Coffee Company. Opened in 1971, Starbucks started off as a single store located in Seattle.
Today the well known coffee chain has spread their name almost all over the globe. With over 21,000
locations in 64 countries, Starbucks is by far the largest leading coffee company in the world.
Starbucks Coffee has different values compared to other coffee corporations that do not see the
importance in giving back to communities around them and treating their employees as equals, all
while striving to provide their customers with high quality products that are ethically sourced.
Corporations that donate some of their profit to charitable organizations inform people that the
company is willing to make a difference. Starbucks Coffee Company did just that, creating a separate
charitable organization called The Starbucks Foundation. This foundation was created to show
commitments Starbucks has for supporting global communities around the world by giving back to
them. Donations and funding received by this foundation are provided back to many nonprofit
organizations. In 2014, The Starbucks Foundation donated over $13.1 million to these organizations;
also in 2014, Starbucks Coffee Corporation donated over $11.4 million in cash, including $1.9 million
to the Starbucks Foundation. The company s strong belief in the power of the coffeehouse bringing

Negative Impacts Of Globalization In Developing Countries
Negative impact of globalization in developing countries
Rosa (Su Min Son)

Thesis statement: Globalization arouses matters to develop developing countries economy.
Ⅰ. Excessive outflows of brain and money.
A. Studying abroad and immigration keeps increasing.
B. Cultural toadyism and international vogue decrease consumption of own country s products.
Ⅱ. Excessive competition in the world market A. Developing countries have low competitiveness. B.
Each of countries evades cooperation with other countries. Ⅲ. Increase of economic polarization A. A
lot of people who live in developing countries are afflicted with the exploitation of labor by
multinational corporations.
B. Child labor keeps increasing.
Developing countries are adversely affected by globalization, especially in economy area.
Globalization is a process which the world interconnection keeps increasing so it is possible to trade
or exchange cultures conveniently. In the past, it was anticipated to develop a whole of countries
economy or technology and solve some environmental issues such as air pollution or global warming.
Unfortunately, until these days, the result of globalization does not reach 50% of economists
expectation. The major reason of the evaluation is in spite of the fact that it provides advantages,
globalization increase the gap between rich and poor. One of the biggest victims is developing
countries. They suffer a great loss from the drawbacks of globalization. These are excessive outflows
of brain and money, excessive competition in the world market, and Increase of economic
polarization.
First of all, a lot of people and money dwindle away in developing countries. This problem is
appeared by people who are planning to study abroad or emigrate. Through the Internet, people can
share other s life. By comparing one another, some low income countries citizens can make a plan to
seek employment or learning in other countries. To have education in other countries, people who are
earning money in their countries should consume immoderate cost for overseas students. It means
excessive oversea students induce threaten their home countries economy because less dough is

The History of Rock and Roll Music Essay
The 1960s were the classic age of rock music. The main sub genres were defined in the 1960s. The
paradigm of rock music as the alternative to commercial pop music was established in the 1960s. Wild
experimentation alloweds rock musicians to explore a range of musical styles that few musicians had
attempted before 1966. Captain Beefheart and the Velvet Underground also created a different kind of
rock music within rock music, a different paradigm within the new paradigm, one that will influence
alternative musicians for decades. More than musical giants like Bob Dylan and Jimi Hendrix, humble
musicians like Captain Beefheart, the Velvet Underground and the Red Crayola may be the true heroes
of the 1960s. A black man ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They followed his dreams. Dillon had turned rock music into an expression of the ambitions of youth.
Around this time commercial rock music completely changed as it hit the coast of California. This
change came in the form of surf music. The beach boys had taken rock music and put a spin on it with
vocal harmonies. While before rock music was a way of fighting the system California turned it into a
music all about having fun at the beaches and parties. By the 60 s the times were ready for change but
something drastic still needed to happen. England would become a major part of American rock. In
England Mersey beat was born. Mersey beat was rock but with history behind it. From this came
bands like the Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin, Yardbirds, The Animals, and many others. The Rolling
stones became the sensation throughout England. They re first record became one of the most
successful singles of the era. The yard birds were the most experimental of them all. Out of the
Yardbirds came three of the best guitarists in history: Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck and Jimi Page. The
second generation of the 60 s created the Kinks and The Who. Both went on to record concept albums
and rock operas that paraphrased the British operetta at the sound of rock music. Then in the Mid 60 s
The Cream and Led Zeppelin brought change with a louder, harder blues rock mix. Cream had very
long solos and Led Zeppelins fast riffs. This was truly

who as a community have already been dehumanized for centuries, because of the color of their skins.

Essay about Ghandi Vs. Kemal
Compare and contrast Mustafa Kemal with Mohandas Gandhi, explain their similarities and
differences.
In 1918, the Ottoman Turks were already independent, and consequently the allies (the United States,
Great Britain, and France) wanted to make them pay. They were going to divide the Turkish territory
among themselves. These were the conditions in Turkey at the time. The Turks feelings about being
split up between the allies and the Greeks were very simple. Obviously they didn t agree. They wanted
to remain independent and not be subjects of anyone else. So they elected Mustafa Kemal, who was
considered a major hero to the Turks for capturing the Galippity Peninsula, was elected to be leader
and ignored what ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He got rid of the Ottoman empire, overthrew the Sultan, and made Turkey a republic. Next, Kemal
secularized Turkey (secularized no main religion in place). Turkey had been an Islamic Empire but
when Kemal overthrew the Sultan, the religion was no longer dominant. Kemal tried to separate
church and state, like the Europeans. No established religion, none was above the other. Religion was
now a private affair. This was a revolutionary move on Kemal s part. Kemal basically tried to
modernize Turkey.
Lastly, Kemal established new laws, saying that women were no longer forced to wear the veil, the
mark under Muslim customs of their seclusion from public life. In traditional Islam society, women
couldn t show themselves in public to keep men holy and prevent impure thoughts from entering men
s minds. Kemal did away with this. Women were to be equal and become part of public life, and get
educated, get a job, and no longer had to wear the veil. All of these established efforts were major
contributions for Turkey by Kemal.
Mohandas Gandhi was borned in 1869. He married at 13 and in 1891, completed his studies. In order
to devote himself selflessly to his work, he denounced all worldly possessions mainly for the purpose
to free India of British rule. People working with Gandhi protested their rights in a non violent and
passive way. Gandhi s continuous effortful and harmless acts of defiance were basically his pleas for
freedom. On August 15,

Alcoholism Destroys Families and Children
INTRODUCTION
Alcohol abuse is now considered as a proliferating issue that distributes to ruin individuals, and
especially families (Schäfer, 2011). According to The World Health Report in 2003, the global
proliferation of alcohol abuse is evaluated at 1.7%, and this abuse is responsible for 1.4% of the world
disease burden (Grant et al, 2004). Nearly one out of four U.S. children under 18 years old is revealed
to the influences of alcohol misuse and reliance in the family (Grant, 2000).
According to the Random House Dictionary of the English Language (1996), alcoholism is defined as
a diseased condition due to the excessive use of alcoholic beverages (Parsons, 2003) and alcoholics
are the one that can t stop drinking, or can t control the amount of alcohol they drink no matter how
dramatically it affects on their lives (Nordqvist, 2013).
Dramatically negative influences of alcohol use disorders aren t just limited to the individual alcohol
abusers; the damaging consequences reach far beyond and affect the alcoholic s friends and families.
It is shown that alcoholism is responsible for more family problems than any other single cause; one
of every four families has problems with alcohol (Silverstein, 1990). Writing about the same
problems, Joyce Rebeta Burditt also agrees with Silver s opinion: Alcoholism isn t a spectator sport.
Eventually the whole family gets to play .

Alexia shows us how the Indians feel about other races. In this poem, Sherman Alexia shows us the
conflict between the Native Americans and the Americans because of their lack of knowledge of the
Indian s history prior to colonization in Western America. This is significant to Sherman Alexia
because he was born on an Indian reservation and he knows firsthand what this is like in real life. This
also closely relates to Jamaica Kincaid s A Small Place because Antigua was also colonized by Great
Britain. In the beginning of Alexia s poem, the older white woman keeps pointing out what she
considers historical landmarks. One of the historical landmarks is a house that is over two hundred

A Western Hero in Shane Essay
A Western Hero in Shane
The western genre plays an important part in the mythologising of American history. The way the
western genre and particularly the western hero are put across in such films as Shane, are most likely
not how real life in the 1880s was. In Shane the hero arrived on horseback, he was confident,
handsome and managed to charm the female character, Marion, almost immediately.
Typically, throughout the film the mysterious gunslinger was wearing a cowboy hat and a holster
around his waist. His clean cut, masculine looks give an initial impression that Shane was to be the
protagonist of the story. In reality, 1880s men were likely to be sexist or cruel, however this is not ...

The next shot is from long distance showing him riding across the plain. The distance of which the
shot is taken suggests his isolation and also gives the impression that he has been travelling for a long
time, and equally, has a long way yet to go.
Also a distant shot, we see the figure riding along side the lake facing the family s house. In the
foreground is a Deer whose antlers frame the figure perfectly. The shot looks almost picturesque as
Joey watches Shane through the Deer s antlers.
Shane arrives at the family s log cabin, still on horseback; he talks with the family. The shot is a close
up of Shane, however the difference in levels appears to give Shane authority over them, which is how
he is perceived throughout the film. He smiles at Joey and compliments him on his attentiveness, You
were watching me down the trail quite a spell, weren t ya?...Y know…I like a man who watches
things going on around, means he ll make his mark someday. This is the moment we first recognise
that Shane has an able way with children and from here he builds a good friendship with Joey.
Similar to the last, the next is a low angle shot looking up at Shane, giving him the higher status in this
scene. This time attention is drawn to the clouds behind, which makes him appear almost

Hello. Are you lost? What s wrong, are you ok? I spoke to it as the creature as the creature took notice

A are you a monster? You look s s scary. It said as it was too frightened to even look at my face.
It was then that I knew I became fascinated with the tiny, shadow creature. I never saw anything like a

International Accounting Standards Board s Preferred...
Introduction
International Accounting Standards Committee (IASC, 2003) define an asset as a resource controlled
by the entity as a result of past events and from which future economic benefits are expected to flow
to the entity. In a business model assets act as inputs, either directly (plant, machinery, inventory) or
indirectly (goodwill, patents, investment property) to provide products and services to the customer.
As assets are expected to generate future benefits, the income generated by these assets is reported
under the Income Statement while their value is reported in the Balance Sheet to deduce the value of
the said business.

an exit price) (IFRS13). Fair value is the market value of a firm s assets and ignores any special
benefits of the assets to the business resulting from competencies such as man management skills as
well as any transaction costs (Hitz, 2007). Therefore a fair value measurement is market based rather
than entity specific and it represents unbiased measurements that are consistent from period to period
and across entities (Penman, S. H., 2007). This helps to reinforce consistency and comparability
across various reporting entities. Fair Value measurements also have the property of objectivity as it is
non entity specific and reflects the market s valuation as compared to entity specific measurements
which are subject to managerial judgments (Whittington, 2010).
Entity specific measurements account for intangibles such as business competencies and managerial
know how, which gets reflected in the financial statements irrespective of whether they have been
demonstrated or not. Using fair value limits today s profit recognition to amounts market participants
would assess, and leaves to the future the recognition of profit associated with management skill and
synergies (Barth, 2010).
Hence we can conclude that market valuations incorporate market expectations regarding future cash
flows in an efficient and unbiased manner (Hitz, 2007). It can also be argued that fair value

The executioner is a profession that has existed since the genesis of government; he has existed since
the dawn of civilization, with the need for his services growing alongside the complexities of a life

government, more complex, the executioner s role and responsibilities became increasingly

Theu.s V. Lopez, The United States Supreme Court
I. INTRODUCTION
In 1975, the United State Supreme Court held that state law could provide students a property interest
in their education, but forty years have passed and courts remain uncertain of when such an interest
exists. In Goss v. Lopez, the United States Supreme Court extended due process protections to a group
of high school students in Ohio. The Court determined that Ohio state law provided the high school
students a property interest in their continued enrollment at the school, and that such an interest was
protected under the due process clause. The Goss decision came during a time when a due process
revolution was happening in the United States. During this revolution, the Supreme Court recognized
many new property interests in government benefits as the basis for due process claims. Since Goss,
many students have brought due process claims against their schools, but lower courts have struggled
to answer the question of when a student s interest in education rises to the level of a property interest
under Goss. Lower courts have adopted one of three approaches to determine whether a student has a
property interest in education. Under the first approach, the state specific approach, courts analyze
state law to determine whether state law provides students a property interest. Under the second
approach, the standalone approach, courts rely on Goss as a basis to provide all students a standalone
property interest in education. Under the final

Femininity In The Sea Wolf
In Jack London s, The Sea Wolf, Humphrey Van Weyden embarks on a compelling journey that
teaches him about survival and independency. Throughout the novel readers can see how the men
aboard The Ghost fall under the dominance of the powerful and barbaric Wolf Larsen. On this ship,
Van Weyden not only discovers his masculinity, but also realizes that people who are not self reliant
don t stand a chance in the existing world. Additionally, after the arrival of Maud Brewster, Van
Weyden is exposed to his own femininity and also learns what it feels like when another human life
depends on you. Besides being exposed to femininity, Van Weyden is also introduced to the cruel
ways that men live when they lack the presence of a female figure. He learns that cruelty functions as
a motivation to express dominance and savagery that is usually concealed in a presence of a woman.
In The Sea Wolf, Jack London uses the motif of cruelty to develop themes of masculinity and
femininity by highlighting that cruelty limits men from regarding their feminine emotions, allows
people to showcase their dominance and superiority over things, and by exclaiming that it is a way for
people to escape pain, or fnd pleasure. In the novel, London uses the motif of cruelty to develop the
theme of femininity by showcasing that cruelty limits men from regarding their feminine emotions.
Over the years, the general stereotype about women has been that they get too emotionally involved in
a situation. Through the majority of the novel, the people aboard The Ghost are only men, thus lacking
sympathy and care for another. Prior to the arrival of Brewster, savagery and inhumanity was key to
surviving on a ship full of men. Although most of the men aboard the ship participated in revealing
their masculinity others, like Van Weyden, stayed back and observed, I cannot give the particulars of
the horrible scene that followed. It was too revolting. It turns me sick now when I think of it (92). The
previous quote supports the argument that cruelty limits men from regarding their feminine emotions
because it shows that the inhumanity Van Weyden witnessed left him fearful; he was left damaged,
simply by watching. As proven, it is clear that these inhumane

Deaths In Hot Cars Nearly Triple Summary
In the article Deaths in Hot Cars Nearly Triple, Steve Visser claims that the number of children who
have died due to being left in hot car is quickly increasing in this year. There have been a lot of
suggestions from experts about how to prevent these accidents, but a lot of similar cases still continue
to happen. The claim of the article is explicit because it clearly and directly shows the topic which is
the increase of hot car deaths, the explanations, and the recommendations for the problem. The author
gives some interview results to support his claim. For example, according to Amy Artuso, program
manager for the council, there were 11 death cases in this year compared to 4 cases at the same time
last year. Despite the fact that many parents ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Crimes against a computer include attacks on networks that cause them to crash, such as the attacks by
the Morris worm, and unauthorized access to, or tampering with, information systems, programs, or

European Expansion And Chinese Decline In The 1400s
European Expansion and Chinese Decline in the 1400 s Describing China s influence as massive
would be an understatement. For centuries, China had been the world s superpower, in terms of
technological growth, financial security, and military might. By the end of the 1400 s however, that
title had been transferred to Europe. A continent once exclusively known for its now fallen Roman
Empire suddenly proves to be the primary actor on the global stage. To this very day, historians argue
over a deceptively simple question: what changed? A series of political power struggles, threats from
the North, and financial instability drove China back from its former glory, while Europe used the
existing Silk Road and Indian Ocean trading systems to launch their success. Historians attempt to
simplify the fall the fall of China. Often, the dismantling of the treasure fleet is pointed out as the
culprit. In the early 1400s, there were 3,500 vessels in China s fleet; by 1440, that number had been
drastically reduced (Levathes 174). Some historians refer to the event as the single greatest foreign
policy blunder in history. Such a statement is a gross over exaggeration. The treasure fleet fell as a
symptom, not a cause, of a failing China. After the death of emperor Zhu Zhanji in 1435, China fell
victim to a political power struggle between two warring factions: the eunuchs and the Confucians
(Levathes 175). Zhu Zhanji ruled with an iron fist, and kept both parties in check. He held

Framework in The Goophered Grapevine
The frame narrative in Charles W. Chesnutt s The Goophered Grapevine creates a hidden tension
between the viewpoints of the internal narrator s voice and the voice of the external narrator. Uncle
Julius McAdoo is Chesnutt s internal narrator, and serves a storyteller in the story. He exemplifies the
characteristics of a former slave such as being uneducated and unable to speak Standard English.
Julius is old, poor, and uneducated. These characteristics set him up as being a person that lacks

On the other hand, John had learned that North Carolina was a great state to cultivate grapes, and his
main goal was to move there to cultivate grapes while aiding in the improvement of his wife s health.
He had already observed the condition of the vineyard and was confident that he could restore its
productivity. The conflict of territory is present here.
The incongruity of the internal narrator and the external narrator is the element that sets up the tension
between the two characters. They both interact with each other cordially and respectfully. However,
there is a presence of internal arrogance between the two narrators. John thinks of himself as smarter
than Julius because he (Julius) is old, poor, and uneducated while Julius thinks he can out smart John
because he s younger, wealthier, and lacks knowledge of the area.
Julius is extremely good at storytelling because he yields to his audience and draws his audience in
from the beginning of the story to the end, which is a tool involved in tall tales. Julius is a trickster and
even illustrates his story with the character of a Yankee, who seemingly posses the same shrewdness
as Julius. His illustration of a shrew Yankee also seems to be an indirect insult towards John because
he too is a northerner.
In the frame structure, the two voices operating off each other raise a question of motive between the
two narrators. Julius motive is clearly to mislead John and Annie so that he will

women to have a negative self image of their body and do negative things to try to make themselves

Imagery In Mark Twain s The Adventures Of Huckleberry Finn
Introduction I will be examining the literary novel Adventures of Huckleberry Finn composed by
Mark Twain in 1884.This Brilliantly made novel is brought to life doing a time in the world were
sociality is full of turmoil, and social injustice is accepted and an everyday thing. In the novel Huck

world talk about it. The amazing way he put the social problems that the world was facing and told
them through the eyes of a homeless, depress, and rebellious teenager, is something that make the
literary world unease, even to this day. Twain captures readers attention by entangling Huck issues in
the novel with wonderful imagery, witty satire, and anticipation of character development. Let s

The Three Tales of Cymbeline Essay
The Three Tales of Cymbeline
Cymbeline has always been a difficult play to categorize. The original collection of Shakespeare s
plays, quot; The First Folio quot; (published in 1623), classifies it as a tragedy; modern editors have
revised that to comedy, and to distinguish it further from other comedies, it is also referred to, along
with The Tempest, The Winter s Tale, and Pericles, as a romance. Of course, like so many other plays
of Shakespeare, these classifications are only guidelines rather than definitions, for an attempt to
analyze a work of art according to somewhat arbitrary classifications is to diminish the very essence
its originality that makes it a work of art. Undoubtedly, there are many aspects, ... Show more content

The danger to Imogen s life by her husband s jealous action is as real as is Desdemona s fate, thus
propelling the play to the edge of tragedy. Unlike Iago, however, Iachimo (the similarity of their
names is interesting) repents (he is even ready to accept death as his punishment) and is then forgiven
by the generous Posthumus. The theme of forgiveness is characteristic of Shakespeare s romances
Hermione s forgiveness of Leontes is one of the most beautiful moments of The Winter s Tale, and
Prospero s decision to return to his kingdom is itself a forgiveness of the wrongs done him. Another
staple of romantic epics is the story of lost and found children. Often, the lost child is a girl, but
sometimes, as Shakespeare chooses here, the children may be boys. The Guiderius Arviragus story
includes the tale of Belarius, the quot;supposed father quot; who is drawn from the quot;rusticated
courtier quot; of pastoral romance. By deciding to make Belarius a hunter and not a shepherd (as he
does with the adoptive father of Perdita in The Winter s Tale), Shakespeare permits the credibility of
Guiderius and Arviragus as fighters in the defense of their country. In Imogen s taking of the
quot;poison, quot; Shakespeare employs a standard device of Greek romance which called for the
supposed death of a beloved woman; it is a device that he uses in his tragedies (Romeo

Arthritis is when there is inflammation of one or more of your joints. The main symptoms of arthritis
are joint pain and stiffness, which typically worsen with age. Treatments for these types of Arthritis
may consist of; Physical exercises, medications or even therapy. This paper examines what
Occupational Therapist do to treat Arthritis specifically Rheumatoid Arthritis.

cells. This creates inflammation inside of the joints, which then causes swelling and pain in and
around the joints. If inflammation goes unchecked, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This surprised me because when you think of the immune system you think of your body fighting off
the bad cells not the good ones, this brought up the question how does the body mistakenly do that?
Another thing I found surprising while doing research is that if its not treated quickly it can cause joint
problems, an example I gave in my paper was the Boutonniere deformity which is in the hands and it
just sounds and looks painful. Occupational therapists have a lot of different approaches to help
patients with Arthritis but they all have a common goal of making the client comfortable and able to
go back to tasks of daily living. This is important because not all treatment techniques will be effective
to the client and depending on where the arthritis is you can adjust.
Conclusion
Rheumatoid arthritis is an autoimmune disease, if its not treated quickly can lead to a loss of joints
function or even joint deformities. There are many different medicines to treat arthritis, but with the
help of an occupational therapist they can introduce new ways to do tasks as well as give a client tools

This film fulfills its purpose greatly. It goes in depth with Matthew
Poncelet s life and how he acts. It portrays him as a bottom of the line, cockroach eating, pond scum

Christians On The Fringe Of Society
People that are on the fringe of society means that they are not apart of the popular group within
society and they are not always accepted for who they are. People such as the homeless, poor, women
and the LGBTQ+ community are all on the fringe of society. They are marginalised and they always
have to prove themselves to other people.
After Christians have received the Eucharist they become apart of God s family and must obey and
follow his teachings. They are meant to assist those people on the fringe of society by encouraging
other people to accept who they are. Christians can reach out to these people by donating to the poor,

According to a report from the World Bank in 2015, the Congo is among the poorest countries in the
world. In contrast, a Congolese refugee of the Casement Report released in 1904 informed of the
brutality their family were subject to by Belgian soldiers. They recounted that We had to go further
and further into the forest... without food... we starved....leopards killed some of us... and others got
lost or died from exposure and starvation... soldiers said: Go! You are only beasts yourselves.
Additionally, another refugee from the same report disclosed that troops would often kill the
Congolese for the sake of rubber. Once, a soldier, pointing to a basket, said... look, only two hands!
That s nothing... I brought the white man 160 hands. The hands the soldier was referring to were those
of the Congolese workers who labored in dangerous forests to find rubber. Indigenous people were
denied sustenance, had their hands cut off for amusement, or were shot, at the whims of Belgian
soldiers. The meager wages paid to the Congolese could not be collected while the worker was
recovering from injury, which forced greater poverty to befall the people of Congo in the long run.
When the injury was permanent, such as a severed limb, families lost the little income they had. As a
result, many starved to death. This poverty was then handed down to further generations, creating a
ripple effect that can still be felt today. Over half a century later, Congo is an acutely poor nation. This
is the culmination of violence the Congolese faced during colonization. Without the cruelness of the
Belgian colonists, families would have enough money to buy proper nutrition for themselves, and
many more people would survive. Therefore, the end result of poverty in modern day Congo is a
direct consequence of the savagery inflicted upon the indigenous people during

An Analysis Of Clarke Thought On The Surface
Before this, Clarke thought everything was on the surface, thought that everything was so simple. But
as she stared at the deep laceration that tattooed her wrist, she knew that was merely a concept of an
untrue nature. The mark on her arm had layers; it held more intricacy than what met the eye. As she
scrutinised it, she was overwhelmed by the prodigious knowledge she had attained, she felt suffocated
by the capabilities of the bite on her wrist. She wondered how something so grotesque and so
aggressive, could be so bewildering and tragically beautiful all at once. It was art, Clarke thought.
That would make sense; art was always built on tragedy. It was tantalising her with its metallic glaze
and black and blue complexion, glaring right back at her. She held a fascination towards it, something
only an artist could have. It s something she would have captured with bold colours and defined lines,
though she knew that something with this much power could not be easily justified. She was so caught
up in its undeniable beauty that, for a moment, she almost dismissed her surroundings, and the pain
that her body embraced. Almost. She inhaled deeply, bringing herself back to reality and taking in the
smell of Mother Nature s conquest. She had gotten used to the lingering scent of death for the past
seven years, that it was merely an undertone of the smells of the small forest growing in the forgotten
mall she was condemned to. Her exhale was entangled with a rugged laugh. Who

The massive unemployment then must have been an indication of a bigger problem, as we have now
come to learn.
The results for the Kenya certificate of Secondary Education for 2016 (KSCE) seem to have revealed
the genesis of the unemployment and unemployabilty challenges. There is no way that students with
poor or compromised grades would end up becoming better during their university education, or
thereafter in life. Further, no amount of education or certificates can improve their chances of being
productive in the future. It is like feeding a Boran cow with daily bran and expecting it to increase the
milk yield.
Meanwhile, the principles of Total Quality Management (TQM) advocate a concept termed as Quality
First Deployment (QFD). It is about ensuring quality input during the initial stages of the production
process. In the school system context, it means admitting only the best students for university
education. When this condition is observed, it is highly likely that only a few of the best students will
end up becoming mediocre along the education path and thereafter. The converse is also true. When
we feed the university education system with students who have benefited from leaked examinations,
continued mediocrity in the economy and entire national spectrum is guaranteed.
Thus, based on the Kenya Certificate of Secondary education (KCSE) results for last year, it s clearly
evident that innumerable students with compromised grades have been

stacking. Name calling is mudslinging that we accept without further question. We need to become
aware of the negative name calling, and should question the verity of the statement instead of
assuming the information to be true. Glittering generalities are the opposite of name calling, in which
a positive connotation is used to make us agree without questioning the evidence. Typically, glittering
generalities have virtue words, that we have a deep connection to, but the words have no meaning
(Cross). We must ask ourselves what the words really mean and instead of assuming because it sounds
good that it must be true. Speakers typically use the plain folks appeal in order to make you feel they
are just like you. If you think that they are just like you, you would be more likely associate yourself
with them. You must ask yourself why you chose that person, and what do they stand for as

The Hobbit
J. R. R. Tolkien Report This report contains information about J. R. R. Tolkien s life and
achievements. Many have found this to be an interesting topic; as Tolkien has claimed the respect and
love of many who are both related and unrelated to him by blood. A short list of his achievements
includes these topics: Tolkien s participation in the first World War, many of his writings, his
graduation from more than one of England s finest and lesser known colleges/universities, and his
relationship formed with his currently famous writer and friend, C. S. Lewis. As one of the many
information suppliers for the biography website, Biography.com posted, J.R.R. Tolkien is an
internationally renowned fantasy writer. He is best known for authoring The Hobbit and the Lord of
the Rings trilogy. (However, this informant s name is not mentioned in the website) The first topic this
report will cover will be Tolkien s early life. Tolkien is reported to have moved to England early in his
life. However, Tolkien was born quite literally half a world away. Tolkien s place of birth is recorded
as Bloemfontein, South Africa. Born on January 3, in 1892, Tolkien was born to mature into an era
dominated by a great and terrible war between the great nations of the world, however, this essay will
cover that topic at an ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One night while grading tests during his teaching career at Oxford, Tolkien spontaneously wrote the
following phrase on a sheet of paper: In a hole in the ground there lived a Hobbit. Though no one,
even Tolkien himself, could discern where that sentence came from, it led to the writing and
publication of many of Tolkien s pieces. The more well known of Tolkien s works include the Lord of
the Rings series and the novel The Hobbit. There is much speculation as to how much of Tolkien s
works were inspired by his wartime experiences, though much evidence has surfaced to back said

Non Verbal Behaviors
Non verbal behaviors are unintentional and can be interpreted by a different personwith a different
meaning. Verbal signals usually accompany by non verbal behaviors. These could be as easy as a
shoulder shrug to head movements to eye contact. These behaviors tend to either confirm or even
emphasize the meaning when speaking, Certain unintentional behaviors can even contradict what the
message was suppose to mean. Quick example if I ask my wife if she can properly park her vehicle in
a parallel parking manner she can say yes and shrug her shoulders giving me an indication that she
isnt sure of her answer. There are many categories according to The Providers Guide to Quality and
Culture of nonverbal communication. The categories are as follow; ... Show more content on

For instance I automatically stand if I am sitting to give a handshake as I find it rude to give one
sitting down. Most people are unaware of that and dont find anything wrong with just sitting and
putting their hand out. Touching in other ways should be completely avoided until you have a tight
grasp on that culture. In mexico people are greeted with a hug and kiss on the cheek. People in Asia
can be offended in this manner due to invasion of personal space. One experience I will never forget
in one of my tours to Iraq i remember that a young woman needed medical attention but they did not
say anything to use until they had a man appeared that they knew and he came to speak to us to see if
we could help. We said no problem but he needed a female medic to take a look over the young lady.
Some cultures it is extremely offensive for men to speak to women without the head of the house
holds permission.
Eye Contact: Eye contact is an extremely sensitive subject. Here in america we use eye contact for
respect or when others speak to you. If our eyes wonder off or look down it gives tales of either not
paying attention or lying. Seeing that people lie with the left side of their brains people tend to have
their eyes move to the left. So myself I have to be looking into peoples eyes. In asian cultures
exposures of long eye contact can be extremely

Rap Music Annotated Bibliography Summary
The article Rap Music and Its Violent Progeny: America s Culture of Violence in Context, addresses
how rap music persuades young individuals toward violence. Jeanita W. Richardson and Kim A. Scott
researched to see if rap music stimulates young people to be violent in the society. According to the
bureau of justice statistics violent crimes did in fact happen more among teenagers, particularly in
African Americans. Conferring to the article rap music was more popular among the African American
community in the beginning when rap music first became hip. It was indicated in the article that the
ones that related to it was individuals in poverty and African Americans saying they could relate to the
music. It also mentions in the article that violence was not accountable for in country music artist, folk
music artist, or other genres. This article discusses how rap ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The article never mentioned Dixie Chicks Goodbye Earl or Miranda Lambert Gun Powder and Lead
with the lyrics violence and death, but it did not fail to mention Tupac with his lyrics being violent and
it is affecting individuals negatively. Why is this, well I think society looks down on rap music
because rap is pointed more toward the poor class. By society labeling it, it causes others to notice and
point out the bad qualities of rap music aside from other types of music. I do agree that rap music can
have violence tied to it but I believe all types of music are expressive tones used in positive and
negative ways. So, if rap characterizes one s behavior to violence than all types of music

The Difference Between Super Normal And Normality In...
Moreover, the drive to the core of unawareness is also evident in the realm of graphic design and type
design. In Adrain Frutiger, one of the most well known type artist s eyes, for a type to go unnoticed is
the greatest compliment for a type designer and a typographer can receive (Linotype, 2009). The
purpose of a type is for providing a spirit or feeling to graphic communication (Haley, 2012). Only
when a type becomes transparent or normal will it do great help in communicating ideas without
pushing itself forward. The whole point with type is for you not to be aware it is there Frutiger said
and made an impressive comparison: If you remember the shape of a spoon with which you just ate
some soup, then the spoon had a poor shape (Fox, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This part will begin with introducing Super Normal as an aesthetic concept. It is to discuss the
epistemological justification of Super Normal, namely how is it to be considered, how to identify the
Super Normal design and its visual styles. Then I will engage Donald Norman s theory of psychology
of daily design, which explain the discoverability and understanding as the most important
characteristics of good design and their attached emotions (Norman 1988, pp.3). Besides, I will cite
Victor Papanek s account to articulate one possibility from an ecological approach that how to design

Field Of Drones Research Paper
It was early dawn at the Huntington Beach Pier in California when I was first and rarely dumbfounded
by my first witnessing of a drone in action. I had just finished eating breakfast with my father and we
were then progressing towards the parking lot. As we were approaching the end of the pier, an
irregular sound magnified in volume. At the point where the noise reached its peak, an unnatural wind,
unknown to my senses, gusted from above. I felt feverish taps on my right arm only to see my dad
pointing at the sky above. I swiftly turn my head thinking about what had caused such question. At the
time I recall describing the object as a strange toy helicopter, and it was rapidly advancing towards its
operator. Our walking speed that morning made ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This urge to know more lead me to consider purchasing a drone for myself, but there were a few
problems about that consideration. I didn t have a complete understanding about drone
maneuverability and regulations which lead me to speculate whether or not to begin exploring the
field of drones. My desire to study about unmanned aerial systems strengthened over the next couple
of years, but I couldn t find many lessons that were interactive and thorough enough. I find it amazing
how a brand new view of the ground below can be accessed with such a small and agile product. For a
great portion of my existence, I always thought that huge aircrafts would be the only functionable
creations that would be able to fly the skies, so when I first witnessed the potential of these aerial
systems, I was quickly captivated to properly wield one someday. The feature of recording flights was
also mind blowing because it opened a new way to express the world around us through film. It s
amazing how creative content creators can be when using them. Being able to easily access a new way
to express oneself is a progression into the future we have set for

Reflection Paper On Communication
Analysis Communication
Communication is essential in all facets of an organization. It can aid in decision making, planning
and conflict resolution. The ability to effectively communicate allows facilitation of relationships
between superiors and subordinates; essentially this creates higher job satisfaction (Dogra, A., 2012).
Open communication where employees have opportunity to voice their ideas and concerns, corelates
to employees feeling a sense of value within the organization, which creates motivation (Dogra, A.,
2012). Furthermore, in conjunction with these ideas, a sense of partnership and loyalty begin to
develop between subordinates and superiors. The responses to this are typically seen in greater
responsibility being given to the subordinate.
Reflection on DFS Communication
At the start of my placement, I was anxious, and scared all at the same time. I had never worked with
youth before, or had a background in it. I was essentially thrown right in, and now I realize that is the
only way to become acquainted with this type of work. Early on open communication allowed me to
ask questions, and gain perspective on things I was unaware of. Before long I was communicating
ideas and concerns to superiors formally, and informally. It did not take long for increased roles and
responsibilities within the program and organization.
There was one scenario where as a youth worker I was able to provide assistance to an individual who
was threatening his own life.

Lower Back Pain Rehabilitation Essay
This experiment over the rehabilitation of lower back pain was conducted to find which treatments
worked most effectively patients and the cost that came along with each treatment. They started this
experiment by selecting a test group of adults from the age of 20 to 64 who were experiencing a mild
form of back pain, and then began placing them in different areas of treatment. The patients were
either sent to do Physical Therapy, Chiropractor, or they were given an instruction booklet on how to
treat lower back pain. In Physical Therapy, The patients were treated using McKenzie method which is
focused on a centralized treatment to reduce overall back pain. The second group of patients had to
undergo Chiropractic Manipulation which is a high velocity thrust which is targeted at what is known
as a manipulable lesion . ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Each group was tested for a total of 12 weeks during this study. The results from this study showed
that at around 4 weeks patients who were in actual treatment, Physical therapy and Chiropractic
Manipulation, tended to have less severe symptoms than the group who had just the educational
booklet. However, the researchers stated that the differences were not significant enough to make a
difference. They found that there were no significant results between the three test groups. The
patients in the therapy groups had a higher rating for the care they received compared to that of the
booklet group. The total average costs of treatment per patient was 437 for physical therapy, 429 for
the chiropractic group, and 153 for the booklet group. The authors concluded that both therapy groups
were similar in cost and had only slightly better outcomes when compared to that of the booklet
group.(Cherkin ,Deyo, Battie, Street, Barlow,

  • 2. To What Extent Did The Collapse Of Apartheid South Africa... To what extent did the collapse of Apartheid in South Africa (1991) really bring about change for the Bantu population? The collapse of Apartheid in South Africa (1991) brought only a small amount of change for the Bantu population. South still faces racism in society, due to the continual domination by the white population with race interaction limited to the false rainbow television campaigns and promotional Africa strategies. At the close of Apartheid, a number of false statements were used to convince the people of South Africa of this ideology. A rainbow nation where reconciliation without justice had virtue. This illusion of equality is still evident through the white socioeconomic clubs and areas still maintaining apartheid ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Apartheid was a reaction by these Afrikaners to this rapid change. This insistence on racial apartness became the political and legal doctrine of apartheid. It was an accepted Government policy that the Bantu (native) are only temporarily residents in the European (white) areas of the Republic for as long as they offer their labour there. (The Department of Bantu Administration and Administration 1957) This injustice of apartheid towards the Bantu population is evident through the unfair distribution of land. 80% of South Africa s land was given to the white minority population of the time, despite the fact that they consisted of less than 10% of the population. The government also introduced influx control laws to limit the number of permits released to black South Africans allowing them to leave their homelands and work in cities or on white farms. The white government s forceful policies included little to no spending on significant finances, which constructed services in the Bantu Homelands. Schools hospitals and public transport, reliable electricity and running water, public telephones and sewerage systems were rare. (L. Thompson, op cit, p 201.) This inequality and unfairness towards the Bantu population was evident for many years before apartheid collapsed. • 4. Starbucks Coffee And The Coffee Company Enthusiast coffee drinker or not, people of all generations have heard of the popular franchise Starbucks Coffee Company. Opened in 1971, Starbucks started off as a single store located in Seattle. Today the well known coffee chain has spread their name almost all over the globe. With over 21,000 locations in 64 countries, Starbucks is by far the largest leading coffee company in the world. Starbucks Coffee has different values compared to other coffee corporations that do not see the importance in giving back to communities around them and treating their employees as equals, all while striving to provide their customers with high quality products that are ethically sourced. Corporations that donate some of their profit to charitable organizations inform people that the company is willing to make a difference. Starbucks Coffee Company did just that, creating a separate charitable organization called The Starbucks Foundation. This foundation was created to show commitments Starbucks has for supporting global communities around the world by giving back to them. Donations and funding received by this foundation are provided back to many nonprofit organizations. In 2014, The Starbucks Foundation donated over $13.1 million to these organizations; also in 2014, Starbucks Coffee Corporation donated over $11.4 million in cash, including $1.9 million to the Starbucks Foundation. The paradigm of rock music as the alternative to commercial pop music was established in the 1960s. Wild experimentation alloweds rock musicians to explore a range of musical styles that few musicians had attempted before 1966. Captain Beefheart and the Velvet Underground also created a different kind of rock music within rock music, a different paradigm within the new paradigm, one that will influence alternative musicians for decades. Around this time commercial rock music completely changed as it hit the coast of California. This change came in the form of surf music. The beach boys had taken rock music and put a spin on it with vocal harmonies. While before rock music was a way of fighting the system California turned it into a music all about having fun at the beaches and parties. By the 60 s the times were ready for change but something drastic still needed to happen. England would become a major part of American rock. In England Mersey beat was born. Mersey beat was rock but with history behind it. From this came bands like the Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin, Yardbirds, The Animals, and many others. Out of the Yardbirds came three of the best guitarists in history: Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck and Jimi Page. The second generation of the 60 s created the Kinks and The Who. Both went on to record concept albums and rock operas that paraphrased the British operetta at the sound of rock music. In 1918, the Ottoman Turks were already independent, and consequently the allies (the United States, Great Britain, and France) wanted to make them pay. They were going to divide the Turkish territory among themselves. These were the conditions in Turkey at the time. The Turks feelings about being split up between the allies and the Greeks were very simple. Obviously they didn t agree. They wanted to remain independent and not be subjects of anyone else. So they elected Mustafa Kemal, who was considered a major hero to the Turks for capturing the Galippity Peninsula, was elected to be leader and ignored what ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He got rid of the Ottoman empire, overthrew the Sultan, and made Turkey a republic. Next, Kemal secularized Turkey (secularized no main religion in place). Turkey had been an Islamic Empire but when Kemal overthrew the Sultan, the religion was no longer dominant. Kemal tried to separate church and state, like the Europeans. No established religion, none was above the other. Religion was now a private affair. This was a revolutionary move on Kemal s part. Kemal basically tried to modernize Turkey. Lastly, Kemal established new laws, saying that women were no longer forced to wear the veil, the mark under Muslim customs of their seclusion from public life. In traditional Islam society, women couldn t show themselves in public to keep men holy and prevent impure thoughts from entering men s minds. Kemal did away with this. Women were to be equal and become part of public life, and get educated, get a job, and no longer had to wear the veil. All of these established efforts were major contributions for Turkey by Kemal. Mohandas Gandhi was borned in 1869. He married at 13 and in 1891, completed his studies. In order to devote himself selflessly to his work, he denounced all worldly possessions mainly for the purpose to free India of British rule. • 12. Alcoholism Destroys Families and Children INTRODUCTION Alcohol abuse is now considered as a proliferating issue that distributes to ruin individuals, and especially families (Schäfer, 2011). According to The World Health Report in 2003, the global proliferation of alcohol abuse is evaluated at 1.7%, and this abuse is responsible for 1.4% of the world disease burden (Grant et al, 2004). Nearly one out of four U.S. children under 18 years old is revealed to the influences of alcohol misuse and reliance in the family (Grant, 2000). According to the Random House Dictionary of the English Language (1996), alcoholism is defined as a diseased condition due to the excessive use of alcoholic beverages (Parsons, 2003) and alcoholics are the one that can t stop drinking, or can t control the amount of alcohol they drink no matter how dramatically it affects on their lives (Nordqvist, 2013). Dramatically negative influences of alcohol use disorders aren t just limited to the individual alcohol abusers; the damaging consequences reach far beyond and affect the alcoholic s friends and families. It is shown that alcoholism is responsible for more family problems than any other single cause; one of every four families has problems with alcohol (Silverstein, 1990). Writing about the same problems, Joyce Rebeta Burditt also agrees with Silver s opinion: Alcoholism isn t a spectator sport. Eventually the whole family gets to play . • 13. On The Amtrak From Boston To New York City In the poem On the Amtrak from Boston to New York City, a white woman and a Native American are on an Amtrak together headed to New York City from Boston. The Amtrak was a train that people traveled on during the colonial times. Their cultural differences and perspectives separate them and Alexia shows us how the Indians feel about other races. In this poem, Sherman Alexia shows us the conflict between the Native Americans and the Americans because of their lack of knowledge of the Indian s history prior to colonization in Western America. This is significant to Sherman Alexia because he was born on an Indian reservation and he knows firsthand what this is like in real life. This also closely relates to Jamaica Kincaid s A Small Place because Antigua was also colonized by Great Britain. In the beginning of Alexia s poem, the older white woman keeps pointing out what she considers historical landmarks. One of the historical landmarks is a house that is over two hundred years old. • 14. A Western Hero in Shane Essay A Western Hero in Shane The western genre plays an important part in the mythologising of American history. The way the western genre and particularly the western hero are put across in such films as Shane, are most likely not how real life in the 1880s was. In Shane the hero arrived on horseback, he was confident, handsome and managed to charm the female character, Marion, almost immediately. Typically, throughout the film the mysterious gunslinger was wearing a cowboy hat and a holster around his waist. His clean cut, masculine looks give an initial impression that Shane was to be the protagonist of the story. In reality, 1880s men were likely to be sexist or cruel, however this is not ... The distance of which the shot is taken suggests his isolation and also gives the impression that he has been travelling for a long time, and equally, has a long way yet to go. Also a distant shot, we see the figure riding along side the lake facing the family s house. In the foreground is a Deer whose antlers frame the figure perfectly. The shot looks almost picturesque as Joey watches Shane through the Deer s antlers. Shane arrives at the family s log cabin, still on horseback; he talks with the family. The shot is a close up of Shane, however the difference in levels appears to give Shane authority over them, which is how he is perceived throughout the film. He smiles at Joey and compliments him on his attentiveness, You were watching me down the trail quite a spell, weren t ya?...Y know…I like a man who watches things going on around, means he ll make his mark someday. This is the moment we first recognise that Shane has an able way with children and from here he builds a good friendship with Joey. Similar to the last, the next is a low angle shot looking up at Shane, giving him the higher status in this scene. This time attention is drawn to the clouds behind, which makes him appear almost ... Fair value is the market value of a firm s assets and ignores any special benefits of the assets to the business resulting from competencies such as man management skills as well as any transaction costs (Hitz, 2007). Therefore a fair value measurement is market based rather than entity specific and it represents unbiased measurements that are consistent from period to period and across entities (Penman, S. Fair Value measurements also have the property of objectivity as it is non entity specific and reflects the market s valuation as compared to entity specific measurements which are subject to managerial judgments (Whittington, 2010). Entity specific measurements account for intangibles such as business competencies and managerial know how, which gets reflected in the financial statements irrespective of whether they have been demonstrated or not. Using fair value limits today s profit recognition to amounts market participants would assess, and leaves to the future the recognition of profit associated with management skill and synergies (Barth, 2010). As cities grew larger; and crime became more prevalent; and government, more complex, the executioner s role and responsibilities became increasingly demanded, and thus began the professionalization of death. • 19. Theu.s V. Lopez, The United States Supreme Court I. INTRODUCTION In 1975, the United State Supreme Court held that state law could provide students a property interest in their education, but forty years have passed and courts remain uncertain of when such an interest exists. In Goss v. Lopez, the United States Supreme Court extended due process protections to a group of high school students in Ohio. The Court determined that Ohio state law provided the high school students a property interest in their continued enrollment at the school, and that such an interest was protected under the due process clause. The Goss decision came during a time when a due process revolution was happening in the United States. During this revolution, the Supreme Court recognized many new property interests in government benefits as the basis for due process claims. Since Goss, many students have brought due process claims against their schools, but lower courts have struggled to answer the question of when a student s interest in education rises to the level of a property interest under Goss. Lower courts have adopted one of three approaches to determine whether a student has a property interest in education. Under the first approach, the state specific approach, courts analyze state law to determine whether state law provides students a property interest. Under the second approach, the standalone approach, courts rely on Goss as a basis to provide all students a standalone property interest in education. Under the final ... • 20. Femininity In The Sea Wolf In Jack London s, The Sea Wolf, Humphrey Van Weyden embarks on a compelling journey that teaches him about survival and independency. Throughout the novel readers can see how the men aboard The Ghost fall under the dominance of the powerful and barbaric Wolf Larsen. On this ship, Van Weyden not only discovers his masculinity, but also realizes that people who are not self reliant don t stand a chance in the existing world. Additionally, after the arrival of Maud Brewster, Van Weyden is exposed to his own femininity and also learns what it feels like when another human life depends on you. Besides being exposed to femininity, Van Weyden is also introduced to the cruel ways that men live when they lack the presence of a female figure. He learns that cruelty functions as a motivation to express dominance and savagery that is usually concealed in a presence of a woman. In The Sea Wolf, Jack London uses the motif of cruelty to develop themes of masculinity and femininity by highlighting that cruelty limits men from regarding their feminine emotions, allows people to showcase their dominance and superiority over things, and by exclaiming that it is a way for people to escape pain, or fnd pleasure. In the novel, London uses the motif of cruelty to develop the theme of femininity by showcasing that cruelty limits men from regarding their feminine emotions. Over the years, the general stereotype about women has been that they get too emotionally involved in a situation. Through the majority of the novel, the people aboard The Ghost are only men, thus lacking sympathy and care for another. Prior to the arrival of Brewster, savagery and inhumanity was key to surviving on a ship full of men. Although most of the men aboard the ship participated in revealing their masculinity others, like Van Weyden, stayed back and observed, I cannot give the particulars of the horrible scene that followed. It was too revolting. It turns me sick now when I think of it (92). The previous quote supports the argument that cruelty limits men from regarding their feminine emotions because it shows that the inhumanity Van Weyden witnessed left him fearful; he was left damaged, simply by watching. For centuries, China had been the world s superpower, in terms of technological growth, financial security, and military might. By the end of the 1400 s however, that title had been transferred to Europe. A continent once exclusively known for its now fallen Roman Empire suddenly proves to be the primary actor on the global stage. To this very day, historians argue over a deceptively simple question: what changed? A series of political power struggles, threats from the North, and financial instability drove China back from its former glory, while Europe used the existing Silk Road and Indian Ocean trading systems to launch their success. Historians attempt to simplify the fall the fall of China. Often, the dismantling of the treasure fleet is pointed out as the culprit. The theme of forgiveness is characteristic of Shakespeare s romances Hermione s forgiveness of Leontes is one of the most beautiful moments of The Winter s Tale, and Prospero s decision to return to his kingdom is itself a forgiveness of the wrongs done him. • 36. An Analysis Of Clarke Thought On The Surface Before this, Clarke thought everything was on the surface, thought that everything was so simple. But as she stared at the deep laceration that tattooed her wrist, she knew that was merely a concept of an untrue nature. The mark on her arm had layers; it held more intricacy than what met the eye. As she scrutinised it, she was overwhelmed by the prodigious knowledge she had attained, she felt suffocated by the capabilities of the bite on her wrist. She wondered how something so grotesque and so aggressive, could be so bewildering and tragically beautiful all at once. It was art, Clarke thought. That would make sense; art was always built on tragedy. It was tantalising her with its metallic glaze and black and blue complexion, glaring right back at her. She held a fascination towards it, something only an artist could have. It s something she would have captured with bold colours and defined lines, though she knew that something with this much power could not be easily justified. She was so caught up in its undeniable beauty that, for a moment, she almost dismissed her surroundings, and the pain that her body embraced. Almost. She inhaled deeply, bringing herself back to reality and taking in the smell of Mother Nature s conquest. She had gotten used to the lingering scent of death for the past seven years, that it was merely an undertone of the smells of the small forest growing in the forgotten mall she was condemned to. Her exhale was entangled with a rugged laugh. Who ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Quality Education Critical for Advancement of Informal Leadership Most people perceive leadership only in terms of positions of power, where they can exert their influence in either achieving their personalized desires or making things done their way. However, there are other forms of leadership, which invaluably lead to not only personal, but also organizational and national progress. Consider expertise as a guide to venturing into leadership. One is able to influence change anywhere only through acquiring superior skills, which could be applied in a vocation or profession. Another excellent example is moral authority. The massive unemployment then must have been an indication of a bigger problem, as we have now come to learn. The results for the Kenya certificate of Secondary Education for 2016 (KSCE) seem to have revealed the genesis of the unemployment and unemployabilty challenges. There is no way that students with poor or compromised grades would end up becoming better during their university education, or thereafter in life. Further, no amount of education or certificates can improve their chances of being productive in the future. It is like feeding a Boran cow with daily bran and expecting it to increase the milk yield. Meanwhile, the principles of Total Quality Management (TQM) advocate a concept termed as Quality First Deployment (QFD). It is about ensuring quality input during the initial stages of the production process. In the school system context, it means admitting only the best students for university education. When this condition is observed, it is highly likely that only a few of the best students will end up becoming mediocre along the education path and thereafter. The converse is also true. When we feed the university education system with students who have benefited from leaked examinations, continued mediocrity in the economy and entire national spectrum is guaranteed. Thus, based on the Kenya Certificate of Secondary education (KCSE) results for last year, it s clearly evident that innumerable students with compromised grades have been ... Henry writes, ¨Every few minutes he would remember that he was a pesky redskin, and pick up his stick rifle and tiptoe to the mouth of the cave to rubber for the scouts of the hated paleface. Now and then he would let out a warwhoop that made Old Hank the Trapper, shiver. That boy had Bill terrorized from the start.¨ The boy´s capturers, besides Bill, find the boy and his lack of concern for being kidnapped very amusing. ¨Yes, sir, that boy seemed to be having the time of his life. The fun of camping out in a cave had made him forget that he was a captive himself. He immediately christened me Snake eye, the spy, and announced that, when his braves returned from the warpath, I was to be broiled at the stake at the rising of the sun¨, is a quote describing the humor one of the capturers sees in the boy´s antics. Name calling is mudslinging that we accept without further question. We need to become aware of the negative name calling, and should question the verity of the statement instead of assuming the information to be true. Glittering generalities are the opposite of name calling, in which a positive connotation is used to make us agree without questioning the evidence. Typically, glittering generalities have virtue words, that we have a deep connection to, but the words have no meaning (Cross). We must ask ourselves what the words really mean and instead of assuming because it sounds good that it must be true. By society labeling it, it causes others to notice and point out the bad qualities of rap music aside from other types of music. In Adrain Frutiger, one of the most well known type artist s eyes, for a type to go unnoticed is the greatest compliment for a type designer and a typographer can receive (Linotype, 2009). The purpose of a type is for providing a spirit or feeling to graphic communication (Haley, 2012). Only when a type becomes transparent or normal will it do great help in communicating ideas without pushing itself forward. The ability to effectively communicate allows facilitation of relationships between superiors and subordinates; essentially this creates higher job satisfaction (Dogra, A., 2012). Open communication where employees have opportunity to voice their ideas and concerns, corelates to employees feeling a sense of value within the organization, which creates motivation (Dogra, A., 2012). Furthermore, in conjunction with these ideas, a sense of partnership and loyalty begin to develop between subordinates and superiors. The responses to this are typically seen in greater responsibility being given to the subordinate. Reflection on DFS Communication At the start of my placement, I was anxious, and scared all at the same time. I had never worked with youth before, or had a background in it. I was essentially thrown right in, and now I realize that is the only way to become acquainted with this type of work. Early on open communication allowed me to ask questions, and gain perspective on things I was unaware of. Before long I was communicating ideas and concerns to superiors formally, and informally.
