Essay On Anger
The effects of anger on health have more to do with duration than frequency and intensity. The normal
experience of overt anger lasts only a few minutes. But the subtle forms of anger, such as resentment,
impatience, irritability, grouchiness, etc., can go on for hours and days at a time. Consistent, prolonged
levels of anger give a person a five times greater chance of dying before age 50. Anger elevates blood
pressure, increases threat of stroke, heart disease, cancer, depression, anxiety disorders, and, in
general, depresses the immune system (angry people have lots of little aches and pains or get a lot of
colds and bouts of flu or headaches or upset stomachs). To make matters worse, angry people tend to
seek relief from the ill moods ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
You have an anger problem if some subtle form of anger that you may not even be aware of makes
you do what is not in your best interest or keeps you from performing at your highest potential. This
could mean something subtle, like putting a chilly wall between you and others or a continual
impatience or low frustration tolerance that interferes with problem solving and performance
competence.
Whatever the form of anger, in persistence you run the risk of becoming a reactaholic, with your
thoughts, feelings, and behavior totally controlled by whoever or whatever you re reacting to. The
more reactive you are, the more powerless you feel; anger is ultimately a cry of powerlessness.
Self Compassion and Compassion for Others
Mastery of the three steps of self compassion and compassion for others makes us virtually immune to
the ill effects of anger. The first step of self compassion is seeing beneath the symptom or defense
(anger, anxiety, manipulation, obnoxious behavior) to the cause, which is some form of core hurt
(feeling unimportant, disregarded, accused, devalued, guilty, untrustworthy, rejected, powerless,
unlovable). Second, the core hurt must be validated (this is how I feel at this moment), and, third,
changed (this behavior or event or disappointment or mistake does not mean that I m unimportant, not
valuable or lovable.) Compassion for others is recognizing that their symptoms, defenses, and
obnoxious behavior come from a core hurt,

Ovid s Metamorphoses Analysis
In order to understand Ovid s Metamorphoses, it is necessary to know something of Ovid the person.
Ovid was born Publius Ovidius Naso, March 20, 43 BC AD 17/18, and he was a Roman poet who
lived during the reign of Augustus. With a contemporary style relative to that of Virgil and Horace
with whom he is often compared and rank with as the trio being the three most recognized poets of
Latin literature. Quintilian the imperial scholar considered Ovid one of the last Latin love elegists. He
enjoyed enormous popularity, but, in one of the mysteries of literary history, Augustus sent him into
exile in a remote province on the Black Sea, where he remained until his death. Ovid himself
attributes his exile to carmen et error, a poem and a mistake , but his discretion in discussing the
causes has resulted ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As Ovid would guide us into this story there are several occurrences of death or reincarnation
represented in his thoughts. He often cross references man and beast body parts being morphed into
that of each other. It would appear that the people surrounding Orpheus s time were barbaric,
cannibals, and people with un natural affections. Orpheus often retreated to places where he could be
alone and create poetry or make melody with his lyre. He wrote poems that drew much unwanted
attention from some of Bacchantes, crazed female followers of the god Bacchus were all enraged that
Orpheus wouldn t sleep with them. Therefore, they killed him in brutally. His head and lyre fell into
the River Hebrus as they floated down the waters.
The lyre a Greek string instrument kept playing notes and his tongue kept singing as if to prolong his
last moments. The birds, lamenting, cried for Orpheus, the multitude of wild creatures; the trees that
often gathered to his song shedder their leaves, in mourning. The rivers stream with their own tears.
His limbs were scattered in different

Theme Of Heroism In Fallen Angels
The Medal of Honor is a very prestigious award to receive. The Medal of Honor is the highest U.S.
military decoration for heroism. In Fallen Angels by Walter Dean Myers, heroism is shown vastly
among the characters. Heroism is described as great bravery. Perry, Peewee, and Lieutenant showed
the most heroism in and off of the field. Richard Perry was a young seventeen year old black boy from
Harlem. He did not have the money at go attend college so he decided to join the military. Perry
played basketball throughout his life which resulted in a knee injury, but that did not stop him. On the
way to Vietnam and at the beginning of his time there, Perry did not expect the events that were about
to happen. We spent another day lying around. It seemed to be what the war was about. Hours of
boredom, seconds of terror. (Myers 132). Perry and the rest of the men in Vietnam were put into hard
positions and had to go through tough things. Perry had his friend, his leader, and was put into the
hospital twice. Jenkins was the first to die among Perry s friends. After the death he was hurt, but had
to continue of and fight for his country. His lieutenant was the next of his close friends to die.
Everyone was devastated about the loss of their lieutenant. The war had barely began, everyone had to
still fight their hardest and not leave their guard down for anything. Many questions and prayers were
spoken throughout the time in Vietnam. I really wasn t pissed, because I knew the real

Ballerina Persuasive Speech
Ballerinas Do Not Jump High Because They Are Light weighted, It Is Because They Know How to
Recently an advert for the TTC had triggered protest from plus sized people: all the beautiful
ballerinas doing elegant posts and jumps being slim and tall are featured in the We Move You advert,
promoting the superior beauty of slimness. Many people may think that only slim people can do the
ballet jumps, especially the classic one featured: the grand jetƩ, a split in the air. But in reality, it s not
the slimness in working, it s the physics. The word, grand jetƩ, meaning big throw in French, is used
to describe the move of the dancer throwing and hanging themselves in the air. In preparation of the
jump, the dancer would run for a few steps or do a smaller jump to get their body in motion
horizontally, and get their knees bent more to store energy that is used to push the whole body up, like
jumping with a spring on, and take off. When the dancer s legs are off the ground, the real challenge
starts. Any object off the ground, no matter how much it weighted, near the Earth surface is subjected
to the constant gravitational force, which pulls the object, including the ballerina s body, down to the
ground. So how does a ballerina stays in the air as if they were hanged mid air? The answer is in the
split. But first, we have ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This point is called the centre of gravity or the centre of mass. In an average human, the centre of
gravity is located in the hip, directly below the belly button. Now when one runs forward and jumps,

mass, will follow a projectile motion, like a parabola, in the air due to the Earth s gravity which is
independent to the mass of the

GMU Video Interviews
For this week, I feel I have not done much advancement as I would have liked. The good thing is that I
am done with my initials interviews. I got help from my sister and we went to the Washington DC
Mall to pick random Americans. It was not easy. We had more rejections than collaborations. Each
time was more frustrating, but we got enough for such section. On the following day we went to GMU
campus for the same goal and we had three more participations. I end up placing only 5 participants
on the rough cut, because only that took 47 seconds. I may add two more participants, but I want to fill
the rest of the project first and I may use two more to fill up in case there is extra space to reach the 10
required minutes. What it has been frustrating is re doing the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

I could not figure it out how to use iMovie to make the sound stereo. Luckily on tonight s class the
video technician helped me by confirming that we cannot do that in iMovie yet, but gave me an
interesting suggestion on separating the audio as one single line, this of course once the video is ready,
and then transmitted to another single file to copy one more time as separate line on the same video.
We tried once with him and it looks like it will work. Second Problem was the narrative sound. After
the introduction interviews, the narrative voice volume drops tremendously to a really low volume. I
need to record this audio also with a mike so I can have the same quality and volume range as the
video portions. Other than those minor issues, I am scheduling my scholarly interviews for next week
and also over the weekend I am meeting with my artist friend who would help me with the animations.
I really need to start working on images. On the other hand, I cannot really start the images if I have
not yet made my script the necessary length to fit the requirements for this

Ender Wiggin Movie Analysis
On average, babies cry a total of two to three hours a day, according to mayoclinic.org.
Ender Wiggin exceeds that amount greatly. Throughout the book Ender cries many times, but in the
end, he will man up and overcome his fears, but still end up crying. Ender Wiggin was the best out of
his two other siblings, both of them failed to pass into the International Fleet, but for Ender he passed.
Training hard in battle school, resulted in defeating the Buggers. Ultimately, he still ended up crying.
Obviously the book is extremely better than the movie because of one main reason, the movie left out
key components that juiced up the story, that allowed the viewer/reader to get hooked into the story.
That is why the book is better than the movie.
The book version of Ender s game shows many key components, such as major themes, relationships
between characters, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There are two significant differences involved between the book and the movie that weakened the
film. One being how in the video it did not show how Ender struggled with battle school, and how he
got through it through hard work and many challenges throughout it all. In the movie, it jumped past
many struggles Ender had undergone while working his way up the standings. It seemed he was more
gifted in the movie than in the book where it took doubling up practice to get better. The second major
difference shown in the movie was not showing what was going on back at Earth with Valentine and
Peter. It never showed or referred to Ender s siblings at all after the beginning of the movie. It did not
even say anything about Peter, and how he has taken over the Earth. as well the letter that Peter has
sent Ender. This weakens the movie because that is the main reason why Ender cannot return home,
because that is where Peter

Justice In Twelve Angry Men, By Reginald Rose
]In this trial, there are twelve angry men. These men are the jurors deciding a 19 year old s fate of life
or death. So in the drama Twelve Angry Men by Reginald Rose s shows justice through motif,
dialogue, and imagery. The first way Reginald Rose shows justice is with a couple motifs. Like when
the jurors do the first vote guilty, guilty, guilty, not guilty. (26 Rose) This shows justice on how
everyone thought the boy was mainly guilty in the start cause it s 11 1 guilty. Next, when the jurors
decide to do another vote in the middle of the trial and they said guilty, not guilty, guilty, guilty, not
guilty, not guilty, guilty, not guilty, not guilty, guilty, not guilty, guilty. (45 46 Rose) This is starting to
show how that one juror that voted not guilty in the beginning vote is starting to change justice by
changing the other juror s mind because it s 6 6 even on the vote. Then kinda near the last vote there
not guilty, nine, all those voting guilty, three (59 Rose). This shows how now everyone has mostly
changed and the boy will most likely be free. These motifs show how an opposition ... Show more

Like when the jurors are talking and say In what way was it obvious? I mean that nobody proved
otherwise. (18 Rose) Juror eight is talking to juror two talking about if there sure the boy is actually
guilty. Next, the jurors argue about He didn t have any ticket stub. Who keeps a ticket stub at the
movies? (18 Rose) Now they re arguing if he really went to the movies to see if he is really guilty or
not. Next, when they talk about the knife they said Where did you get it? I got it in a little junk shop
around the corner from the boy s house. It cost two dollars. (24 Roses) This shows where all the jurors
are arguing of the boy really used that knife to kill the father or the bot really dropped the knife out of
his pocket. This shows how dialogue can show communication which can prove proof and justice

Critical Analysis Of The Hoods
No tickets, for we are lost , whispers the hoodlum youth as they ride the suburban train to the outskirts
of Brisbane. This opening quote from the play Hoods signifies the attitude of teenagers whom wait at
train stations, seen to be unseen and called the nobody s of society. The two Hood members played by
Jodie Le Vescont and Christopher Somers narrate the story Hoods written by Angelia Betzien, directed
by Leticia Caceres and composed by Pete Goodwin and afforded the ability to fast forward, rewind
and pause time. It is an impressive theatre play, of three young siblings Kyle, Jessie and Troy waiting
in a car abandoned by their mother, who frantically had to abscond after the abuse she obtained from
her husband. The current issue of domestic violence is skillfully handled in this Epic theatre style play
Hoods ,
The proportional use of Character, narration and episodic structure to modernise the contemporary
play Hoods generates s a production abounding with challenging dramatic action and significance.
Primarily via the two Hood narrators, this performance effectively contests the viewers to examine
their own soul against others surviving in hardship and confront this cruelty with thoughtful
consideration.
Throughout the play two actors role played multiple characters. Each actor morphed into another
character. They had impressive versatility of their characters and played each role with emotion. The
facial expressions they exercised appeared to contribute to the

The Good In Everyone and The Example of Anne Frank
Anne Frank was a young girl who lived during the holocaust who lived during Hitler s reign in
Amsterdam. Only one problem: She was Jewish. In July of 1942, Margot Frank was called to report to
a concentration camp. The Franks were forced into hiding in an annex behind Mr. Frank s business.
The Franks, along with the Van Pels and Mr. Pfeffer, hid in the annex for about two years. During her
time in hiding, Anne confided in a diary. In her diary, she wrote Despite everything, I believe people
are really good at heart. I agree with Anne. In my opinion, everyone is good at heart; they just show it
in different ways. People do what they think is right. Even though there is evil in the world, I believe
that deep down, everyone is good at heart. Anne Frank believed everyone was good at heart, despite
what was happening to her. I believe that everyone has good in their hearts; they just have different
ways of showing it. The Nazi s were considered evil by most Jews. Yet, in the movie Anne Frank, the
soldier gave Mr. Frank extra time to pack because he saw that Mr. Frank was also a soldier. This
shows he has good in his heart, at least in my opinion. Even though he is a Nazi, who are supposed to
despise Jews, he was kind to Mr. Frank. Take a look at Miep Gies. She hid her friends to try and save
them, jeopardizing her own freedom for others. In Miep Gies: A Dangerous Secret, it says But every
day for two years, Miep Gies broke the law (1). Miep showed great courage and

Mcmurphy Character Analysis
In the novel, One Flew Over The Cuckoo s Nest, written by Ken Kesey, it shadows the vast journey
and relationships of Randle McMurphy, A testy patient newly equipped into the psychiatric ward. The
second McMurphy came into the mental institution, he brought a sense of life and resilience to many
of the patients in the ward, it was inevitable the McMurphy was their leader and that he was gonna
change the dark cloud of personas surrounding the patents. As the story proceeds the members in the
ward get more in tune to McMurphy and his goals; the patients discover that he is their christ figure in
which showing them purpose in their life has been stolen away from society. McMurphy has affected
everyone in the ward and by Everyone means everyone: includi Ms. Ratched, also described as The
Big Nurse. Also the so called doctor, Doctor Spivey, and also a neighbor in the facility, chief bromden.
Despite the occurring events in the ward, it goes to show the powerful impact Mcmurphy had on
patients, from when he was transported to the ward til the time of his tragic death. Mcmurphy changed
more than their liveliness, he changed the mindset of their strongest critic, their self proclaimed image
of themselves. As the book comes to a close, Randle Mcmurphy whose image was only to cause havoc
and be psychotic patient in the beginning, by the end, he had actually been their saving grace. No
treatment nor pills could have done what Mcmurphy accomplished in the ward in a short period of

SUV VS GUYS
As the years have gone on we have seen many changes in the differences and roles of gender. Little
have we thought of seeing cars taking a role of gender, in this case an SUV. SUVs have taken the role
of a male with a feminine touch. Dave Barry s Guys vs. Men is a funny, interesting and in fact true
effort at explaining who guys really are, and why they are that way.
Reptile Dreams focuses more on characteristics of an SUV that reflect the characteristics of men. Both
authors produced a strategically strong essay in reference to their point of view with their own
personal touch using a topic that they know most about.
Dave Barry, the author of Guys vs. Men projects ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
My theory is the reptilian always wins, he said, If there s a crash, I want the other guy to die. Of
course, I can t say that aloud. Hence, the rationale for owning an SUV, and willingness to put others at
risk rather than themselves in a crash situation. Again, questioning the rules of moral behavior. For
Rapaille, the archetype of a sport utility vehicle reflects the reptilian desire for survival. People buy
SUVs, he tells auto executives, because they are trying to look as menacing as possible to allay their
fears of crime and other violence. The Jeep has always had this image around the world because of it
its heavy use in war movies and frequent appearances in newsreels from the 1940 s and 1950 s, and
newer SUVs share the image.
Guy vs Men strategy for showing a certain guy characteristic, like wanting neat stuff such as
mechanical and unnecessarily complex For example the result of guys having the need to have stuff
such as star wars, nuclear weapons, and such items that are in the extends of that genre. as to
differentiate with the characteristics of a women, he used the example of a women and her living room
design arrangement. Whereas a women find the need to rearrange the original position of their
furniture and would cheerfully use the same computer for years, oppose to guys, they do not have a
basic need to rearrange furniture nor keep a computer that is outdated. Dave

Metrosexuality to Media and Male Psychology CHAPTER ONE Introduction In today s media savvy
world, male vanity is something that we now witness everyday. It has become very apparent and has
led to actions and trends that society has learned to accept. We see it in the actors in movies, TV
shows, and commercials, we see it in the models for billboards and various ads wherever we go. We
are also able to see closer evidence of it in our day to day activities, in the numerous male beauty
products in grocery stores ranging from hair gel to masculine wash, and in the men that we interact
with everyday. These men wear fashionable clothes and always ... Show more content on

Manliness (2006) begins with the author, Harvey C. Mansfield, explaining how the concept of
manliness has become outdated due to the concept of a gender neutral society being increasingly more
prevalent in today s times. The book explores the idea of manliness being a stereotype and ends with
the idea that there are still certain traits that are expected of men. Men and Masculinity (2001) is a
collection of works that demonstrates how men s actions and traits are constructed and influenced by
cultural perceptions of masculinity and structures of gender. The selections are able to enumerate on
the various roles and that men are given and the relationships that they partake in. Mirror, Mirror...

metrosexuality by studying the recent trends and actions of men, particularly those in Asia. Liu writes
about the changing definition of masculinity and how this new definition has been spreading and is
slowly being accepted by society. Methodology The topic of this research paper was primarily

A Short Note On The De La Literatura

Can The Effective Treatment Of Wastewater In Developing
Can the effective treatment of wastewater in developing countries have an impact on the development
of antibiotic resistance?
Introduction:
The emergence of resistance in bacteria is primarily related to human and agricultural use of natural
and synthetic antibiotics. Most antibiotics aren t full metabolised and together with resistant bacteria
are excreted where they can reach sewage systems and wastewater treatment plants. (Luczkiewicz et
al., 2011). Standard wastewater treatment conventions have not been shown to be fully effective in
reducing the number of resistant bacteria. Unfortunately, some have been shown to positively select
for resistant isolates. (Luczkiewicz et al., 2011). Current treatments in developed countries are quite ...

However, recent research into the use of constructed wetlands has provided developing countries with
a more suitable alternative to treating wastewater. Additionally, these wetlands may provide a solution
to the spread of antibiotic resistant isolates by removing antibiotics from the wastewater. (Standard
For Sewage Treatment Plants In Developing Countries., Humans and the natural environment slides).
Wastewater is a potential source of antimicrobial resistant pathogens:
As mentioned previously the treatment of wastewater in developing countries is not very common due
to the expense, resources, and time required to treat wastewater effectively. (figure 1) (kaur 2012) And
for some areas these wastewater treatment plants are just not viable, and much of the waste is
discarded into waters where not only pathogenic bacteria can disseminate but also resistant bacteria
and genes. However, in areas that are fortunate enough to have sanitation facilities and conventional
treatments such as activated sludge method, drying beds technology and ozonation or chlorination as a
disinfection method, they have not been shown to be completely effective in the removal of antibiotics
and resistant varieties and even promote resistance in some cases. Evidence for this is

International Adoptions Vs. International Adoption
There are many different important aspects to consider in international adoptions versus domestic
adoption. When adopting from a foreign country, it is important be comfortable with respecting and
teaching the country s culture and ethics to that child as it is part of their cultural heritage. Likewise,
children adopted internationally are of various ethnicities of which you must be comfortable with
accepting into your own family. To adopt internationally, travel to the foreign country is usually
required once or twice for a period of one to two weeks each trip. This will allow the chance to meet
with the child selected for adoption. International adoptions are comprised of the adoption of a child
from an orphanage. Due to government guidelines and abandonment issues in foreign countries, it is
impossible or very limited to access information regarding the child or their family s medical or
personal history prior to arrival at the orphanage (How to Adopt, n.d.). Because most children adopted
internationally are cared for in an orphanage, they are at an increased risk of developmental or motor
delays as also stated by How to Adopt (n.d.). It is also important to note that newborns are not
available for adoption in foreign countries as it takes time to process all the foreign documentation and
approval needed prior to travel to picking up the child and bringing them to the U.S.
Child Referral Assignment. Unlike the domestic adoption process, internationals adoption consist of
matching an already born child to the prospective adoptive parents. This referral process as identified
by New Beginnings (n.d.) usually provides the adoptive parents with a picture of the child and any
available information on the child regarding age, gender, family history, medical records, or special
needs. From this information, the adoptive family will have to make the decision as to whether to
proceed or decline the child referral. If the family agrees to continue, then the child will be officially
assigned as being in the adoption process by the adoptive parents.
Travel, Court Hearing and Finalization. Following the referral and child assignment, preparation will
be made to adopt the child identified. Forms such

the brand has gained significant recognition through its many popular commercials, ad campaigns and

Other images such as the long hair, the instruments, and the sticking out of the tongue show a new

This tells viewers, especially those of the same age group as the teen in the advertisement, that Old
Spice and their products will turn any bland person into someone popular and interesting. The ad also
hints to young male viewers that using Old Spice products will attract women, due to its
overwhelming power to increase popularity and manliness. This is perhaps the companies most
powerful tool for persuading consumers to buy their products. The campaign s slogan on the ad reads

consumer. By planting the idea in the consumer s head that the scent of Old Spice products reinforces
manliness, therefore attracting women, Old Spice effectively plays on the desires and emotions of the
viewers. Since most of the targeted audience, young males 17 25, strive for the same qualities and

The Organizational System Of Yanomami
The Organizational System of Yanomami The world aggregates a lot of small societies, and groups,
and each group has its own culture and economic system. Yanomami is located in the Amazon forest,
in the south of Venezuela and northern Brazil and is one of the largest tribes in the Amazon. This
group has an appealing history, because of the aggressive way they responded to anthropologists who
tried to investigate more about them. Due to their reactions against anthropologist, it is a challenge to
do a research in their lifestyle. Their method of subsistence is considered old fashioned. The economic
system is based in foraging and trades, and recently they started using the horticulture. Horticulture
can be defined as farming without the use of technologies like the plow, irrigation, fertilizer or draft
animals. (Eller, 134) Talk about their economic system is interesting because, as an indigenous group
their resources are limited and they have not good relationship with the western civilization.
Historically, they have been facing ecological problems. In 1975, a mineralogical survey revealed the
presence of gold in Yanomami s land, since then they have been fighting against miners, because they
brought diseases and killed many Yanomamis. Economy is what ensures the sustainability of a society.
It is important that a group has an independent economic system. Yanomami is not completely
independent, because they depend on the natural resources Amazon forest provides to them.

Compare And Contrast The Yellow Wallpaper And The Painted...
Charlotte Perkins Gilman s The Yellow Wallpaper and Sinclair Ross s The Painted Door are both
stories about women protagonists who feel emotionally isolated from their husbands, who both go by
the name John. Ann in The Painted the Door and the wife whose name may or may not be Jane in The
Yellow Wallpaper are women who deal with emotional isolation. Emotional isolation is a state of
isolation where one may be in a relationship but still feel emotional separation. In these two stories,
both women feel emotionally isolated from their husbands due to lack of communication. In both
stories, lack of communication results from one individual failing to disclose their true feelings and
instead he or she are beating around the bush, hoping the other party will know what they want. If
both parties directly disclose their desires and feelings to one another, there would be a better
understanding of each other which as a result would help save marriages. This paper will look at how
both women lack communication, how they both their approach their emotional isolation differently,
and how their failure to communicate to their husbands and their approach, results in the failure to
save their marriage. The Painted Door and The Yellow Wallpaper are stories that show how both
women protagonists are emotionally isolated due to their failure to communicate their feelings and
desires to their husbands. Instead of direct communication to their husbands, the women find other

Human Perception Of The World
Introduction Our perception of the world as individuals is unusually thought of because we are
unaware of the physiological and psychological capabilities our brains possess. Through sound,
recognition, and vision, animals have inherited these traits for generations. One significant factor
pertaining to who we are and how we perceive the world around us are influenced by the genes
inherited in our lineage. One particular trait that is important in our lives is color vision and color
blindness, particularly cone dysfunction syndrome. Cone dysfunction syndrome is a heterogeneous
group of inherited disorders resulting from a mutation of photopigment genes (Simunovic 1998). This
rare form of visual deficiency can branch from achromatopsia, ... Show more content on

The red green opsins are the most susceptible for mutation due to the localization of each protein,
producing color blindness. The localization of the red and green opsins is near each other and contains
ninety eight percent identical in their DNA sequences (Sanders et al 2012). Mutations in these genes
are caused by an error during crossover in prophase I of female meiosis. It occurs in female meiosis
rather than male meiosis due to the fact that opsin genes are produced by the X linked chromosome
which females possess. This states that mothers are the sole carriers of color blindness and it is rare for
a female to express color blindness. Dalton s eyes contributed to the understanding of color vision 150
years after his death. His interests on color blindness have paved the way to understand color
deficiency in our society.
Achromatopsia
In Color Vision and Genetics in a Case of Cone Dysfunction Syndrome, Crognale and Neitz ask the
question: How drastic are genetic variability s influential to our perception of color vision? To further
answer this question, both researchers analyzed cone dysfunction syndrome and how it varies from
normal color vision by having a patient in the study with an abnormal case of color vision ranging
between achromatopsia to mild green deficiencies. Achromatopsia is the condition in which people
perceive the world only of shades of grey while having normal cones in the retina (Snowden 2006).

Essay on Film Trailer Portfolio
Film Trailer Portfolio
When the task of creating a film trailer was first put to us, I had several ideas for the movie s context.
The first was of a movie in the action genre that dealt with revenge, whilst the other two were in the
horror genre. The horror genre appealed to me more, as a low budget film can still have the desired
effect by use of different filming techniques, and I wanted to depend more on a psychological aspect.
My first idea was to do a film about a poltergeist. I had watched several films such as Poltergeist , but
wanted to create a film that relied less on visual effects, something that leant towards the style of
Albert Hitchcock, who is still seen today as the Master of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I purchased the Exorcist DVD, which featured a making of documentary. Here I learned of Friedkin s
strict attention to detail, and also uncovered some of his secrets that made the film so effective. The
film features two main techniques throughout the film that I immediately thought about adding to my
own film, those being the use of lighting and sound. The film moves from very bright light scenes,
such as the films opening in the Middle East, to the darkness of Georgetown (the films setting), or
from the clean and well lit living room of the house, to the black and gloomy mist of the girl s
bedroom. Why?
The sound was used similarly, from eerily quiet to sudden loudness, one scene that uses this is the
sharp cut from the Priest s gentle dream of his mother, to the piercing scream of the little girl. Why
The use of restful music as the main soundtrack in The Exorcist added to the loud and quiet technique
Friedkin used, to create the sense that everything is calm. I myself began my trailer using this
technique, with some gentle music, so that when things begin to go wrong, the impact is more
substantial.
The voice that was created for the demon in this film was dubbed in synch after the scenes had been
shot. I used this technique to dub in the voice of the priest in my trailer, the line I dare not say was
recorded by microphone input

The date was December 13, 2016. We had a game in West Dubuque. We lost that game by 10 points. It
was a bad loss and a game that we should have won. After the game a player on my team was in the
locker room. The varsity guys were in there too. By this time I had left with my parents and heard
about what happened in the locker room a couple days later. The varsity guys put a couple of Western

Theme Of Tikki Maurii
The theme of Rikki Tikki Tavi is putting others in front of yourself, meaning that you care about them
more than you care about yourself. It is almost like the golden rule, do unto others as you would have
them done onto you. This is recurring theme from Rikki Tikki Tavi, the mongoose constantly puts
himself in harms way to save the family that had nursed him back to health. Rikki Tikki has gone out
of his way to help others despite them not doing anything in return. From saving the life of Teddy, to
saving everyone living in the bungalow.
In the first part of the story Rikki Tikki helps the birds bring justice to Nag, the snake who ate the

even saved the lives of the family as a whole. He saved them when Nagaina was threatening to kill the
whole family if they did not move or if they did she would also kill them. Rikki Tikki had come with
one egg in his mouth to bargain with Nagaina about not killing the family. He fought Nagaina, and
chased her away from the table where Teddy s family was eating. He ricked being killed by Nagaina
when he went to down a hole. Mongooses that are young are known not to survive this event, yet
Rikki Tikki did. He risked a very sad death for the sake of the family.
Rikki Tikki basically saved all of the creatures from the bungalow from Nag and Nagaina. Rikki Tikki
wanted the bungalow free of snakes, just like a mongoose would have it. He did the favor the birds

Detroit Institute Of Art Case Study
The Detroit Institute of Art (DIA) is a museum founded in 1885 and continues to thrive in the present
day (Museum Fact Sheet). The people who own it could be the donors who give generously towards
maintaining the museum or the organizations that give grants to maintain the collections for public
viewing. Additionally, Macomb, Wayne and Oakland counties own shares in the property because they
have contributed towards a 10 years millage tax. There is a volunteer board of directors that runs
operations through supervising the museum director. This group invests its skills and lends its
consultancy towards supporting the museum on the basis of the 1997 agreement. The city of Detroit

the State Law), Orr has the right to sell some items as a form of protection of the municipal from

Side Effects Of The American Revolution
The end of the American Revolution brought about a new sense of triumph for the privileged white
male colonist but did little in the sense of improving the lives of Native Americans, African Americans
and women. In fact, improvement in the lives of these groups was an unintended side effect of the
revolution, not the desired result.
In the beginning of the American Revolution, most Native Americans wished to remain neutral but
eventually sided with the British in hopes of preventing the American colonists from further
appropriating their land. When the American colonist won the American Revolution, the British failed
to protect their allies and offered Native American land to America in the Treaty of Paris.

Mandrill Vs Gibbon Essay
Introduction
There are many similarities and differences in primate species. The ones I chose to focus on today was
the Philippine tarsier, Mandrill and the gibbon. What made me choose these non human primates so
interesting was the uniqueness and appearance of each primate. I plan to explain the similarities of
their teeth structure and purposes and the similarities of their diet and feeding and also the differences
of their behaviors. Mandrills are extremely colorful, perhaps more so than any other mammal. They
also have extremely long canine teeth that can be used for self defense though baring them is typically
a friendly gesture among mandrills. These are primarily terrestrial monkeys, and they move with long
arms to move on the ground for fruits, roots, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Importance Of Teaching English As A Second Language
This paper will be discussing how one can go to Serbia and teach English as a second language. This
paper will include important information such as basic education system, visa, demographic and more
things about Serbia.
Keywords: TESOL, English, Serbia, Second language, Teaching.
Advancing the learning and educating of American English around the world is an integral portion
having different cultures interacting as well as understanding between the individuals of the United
States and the people of other nations. Expanding the English dialect capacity of groups of onlookers
abroad extends and improves their engagement with American partners and builds enduring bridges
between societies. One such place is Serbia. This paper will discuss everything concerning Serbia s
educational system as well as on teaching English as a second language.
This table illustrates in a very precise manner, the educational system of Serbia.
The school year for primary and high schools lasts for 9.5 months, except for 8th grade of primary and
3rd/4th grade of secondary school, for which it lasts 9 months. It begins on September 1, and ends in
the half of June. For 8th grade of primary and 3rd/4th grade of secondary school, it ends in the
beginning of June (about one week earlier than for others). Preschool education was optional and
primary and secondary education were the same. The school year is split into 2 semesters
(polugodiŔte), and semesters are split into 2 quarters (tromesečje). Between school years, in summer,
there is summer holiday which last for 2Ā½ months (3 months for those proceeding to high school or
university. So, students have about 85 working days in the first semester and 95 in the second
semester; 180 in total).
This graph illustrates the higher education system in Serbia:
On the side note Serbia has around 7 million people and major religion is Easter orthodox. It s weather
oscillate, and the climate can be called Continental in the north, Adriatic in the south. Not in every
case but for the most part visas are needed for teachers in Serbia, but very easy to get hence it s a third

The Bride Price By Bunchi Emecheta
The Bride Price is a novel written by Nigerian writer Bunchi Emecheta, which addresses the problems
of women in post colonial Nigeria. Published in 1976, it illustrates the life of the Odia family and the
hardships that they go through. Bunchi Emecheta is successful in portraying the difficulties that
women faced in that time and place. The protagonist, Aku nna Odia, is an unmarried teenage girl who
is kidnapped by Okoboshi Obidi s family and forced to marry him. Later in the novel, she is rescued
by Chike, a man that she falls in love with and marries. She is not supposed to be with Chike because
it is shameful to her family because he is a descendent of slaves. Aku Nna later dies in childbirth and
Chike is left with his baby, Joy. One of her last statements is that only in death will she win her
freedom. Although this novel is a fictional story, Emecheta weaves in semi autobiographical elements
and situations. She illustrates the theme of male dominance and women compliance to men. The men
in Nigerian societies are expected to be strong and powerful, while the women are expected to be the
opposite. The men act as the head of the family as they are the ones who make all the money and
decisions. Women on the other hand were demanded to give birth to healthy males and do household
work. In the novel, Ezekiel Odia, the father of the Odia family, works a full time job at the Loco Yard
and when he dies his family is left to fend for themselves. In this culture, it is

Security Is The Major Issue That Affects Interpersonal...
There are several billions of people in the world, and among them a great variety of opinions as to
what the word security means. Insecurity is a major issue that affects interpersonal relationships, and,
more importantly, the relationships we have with ourselves. Feeling insecure can lead to self
destruction and furthermore the destruction of others. In order to maintain a more secure world, we as
people need to feel more secure in ourselves. To achieve this, it involves feeling a sense of self love,

People all over the world need to feel an internal to a societal connection, however in order to achieve
the connection they want within their societies, they need to start with feeling connected with

concern with human life and dignity (p.22). This statement is important because if we feel at peace
and secure with ourselves and others, there will be absolutely no desire to use weapons against
anyone. To compliment this argument, I interviewed a student from Oakland University, and her
thoughts and life experiences especially stood out to me. Victoria (name changed) struggled with

The Photographer and His Camera
Since the invention of the camera in 1839, photography has transformed the entire nature of art in that
it brought about a great revolution of the traditional arts, pushing it from depictions of a world we
already knew to expressions of inward gestures and creativity. Photography conveniently replaced
with images the words that were once essential to describing a visual. These images are in fact very
different in nature from the continuous action of television, as well as the timeless sculpture.

Because man and machine are inseparable, the influences of art and technology run toward
convergence. Rudolph Serkin, a concert pianist, when asked who he performed for, himself, the
audience, or the dead composer, answered, none of them, he performed solely for the piano. In a world
where mankind and technology are so dependent on each other, the photographer photographs
exclusively for his camera, not himself or what is in front. He is, in turn, the mass produced message.
The possibility of seeing the photographer s work as completely neutral or aesthetically intriguing is
basically non existent. There is no essential difference between photography as documentation and
photography as artwork. By definition, photography is printing positives chemically from negatives to
yield an exact duplication; but through the lens of a camera, all objects, including people, are
unnaturally fixed. It is undeniable that the photographer creates with the intention to sell and

growth of web services on a large scale. Due to the increase in usage of web services, it has become of
prime importance to design systems for effective web service recommendation. In our project, we
propose a system for effective web service recommendations incorporating users preferences
regarding quality and diversities amongst web services. Users requirements are considered and mined
from his usage history. Then we find functional similarities using clustering techniques followed by
applying a ranking algorithm to list top k services. To discover high quality Web services, a number of
QoS models for Web services and QoS driven service selection approaches have been proposed in the
service computing field. In this system user explicitly specifies his/her interests and QoS
requirements, and submits them to the service discovery system. Then the service discovery system

The On Balancing The Environment
Balancing the Environment Does the implementation of government policies in order to decrease
negative environmental effects violate individual rights? Immanuel Kant one of the most recognized
names in deontological theory proposed a theory that is based on determining if you are using
someone or something as a means or an end. In essence stating that in order for a decision to be made
one must take into account whether a person is being manipulated against their consent or they are
being foster towards an equally beneficial end (O Neill, 1993). One could say it is everyone s duty to
push the government to introduce policies to decrease negative environmental impacts in order to
sustain a healthy and inhabitable environment for the future. Yet this raises the question, how does one
determine this is their duty and is this being forced against one s will with no substantial benefit?
While others may argue that to protect the planet is the duty of all people. The term deontology comes
from the Greek word deon, meaning duty. The theory of deontology states we are morally obligated to
act in accordance with a certain set of principles and rules regardless of outcome (Shakil, n.a).
Immanuel Kant expanded on this theory and introduced what has come to be known as Kantian
Deontology. Kantian Deontology proposes, no one rational or autonomous creature should be treated
as mere means for the enjoyment or even the happiness of another. (O Neil, 1993). Therefore, no

methods, and the importance of abstinence. The only proven method for reducing pregnancy and
sexually transmitted disease, the studies say, is to combine the abstinence message with one that
teaches young people how to protect themselves against pregnancy and disease . However, the state
opposes to teach about contraception because they do not want to give the impression that the state
supports premarital sex. This conclusion from the Texas government is completely awful, because if
the state teaches the teenage population about the importance and usage of contraception methods
many teenage pregnancies could be prevented. Contraception can be extremely effective at preventing
unwanted pregnancies when it is used consistently and correctly. Abstinence only is not a realistic
approach for everyone, because what about those teenagers that have been sexually assaulted

Ravitch Response Cori Knapp Analysis
Ravitch Response Cori Knapp
Ravitch?s discussion on ?achievement gaps? points out that African American students academic
scores have progressed remarkably since 1990 to 2011. She also states that the Hispanic and Asian
have progressed as well. Achievement gaps will continue to be an issue, as long as there are different
races, ethnic groups, the poor and the wealthy. The more disadvantaged one is, is going to lack in
education and prosperity. To solve an issue like the achievement gap, we need to take action and begin
at the root. These children are suffering because lack of proper education in the school system, which
stems from the poverty in the segregated neighborhoods. Low income

bloodmac Shakespeare s Macbeth
Blood and Sleep Imagery in Macbeth
Macbeth screams imagery! Shakespeare uses imagery of blood and sleep to create an atmosphere of
horror, during the killing of Duncan, which contributes to our sense of Macbeth s growing insanity.
Eventually Lady Macbeth s final scene is enhanced with the use of blood imagery which reflects her
guilt. Shakespeare s use of imagery connects the feeling of horror from audience to play.
Macbeth held such potential for himself. He was honoured Thane of Cawdor, and who knows what
else Duncan had in store for him. Unfortunately he chose not to find out, by murdering the king. The
scene of Duncan s murder (II, ii) demonstrates the guilt and feeling that the blood diffuses into ...

The blood that is shed thickens the plot; a sense of horror is portrayed.
Duncan s murder has an affect on Macbeth; he is scared and can t face what he has done. He keeps
insisting that he heard voices saying that he will never sleep again because of this terrible deed he has
committed, Methought I heard a voice cry sleep no more! Macbeth doth murder sleep the innocent
sleep... Macbeth s reaction to Duncan s death at least shows some sort of guilt or sympathy for him;
however, by the time Macbeth has his best friend, Banquo murdered his sanity ceases to exist. The
interest that Macbeth has in hearing the details of Banquo s murder, his best friends murder, holds
complete insanity. The Murderer enters with blood upon his face Macbeth approaches him to find out
if he did his job. He finds out that Banquo s throat has been cut, and that he lies in a ditch covered in
gashes. My lord, his throat is cut that I did for him. , Ay, my good lord: safe in a ditch he bides, with
twenty trenched gashes on his head... Macbeth s philosophy, Things bad begun make strong
themselves by ill. Means do something once, it bother s you, do it again, it bothers you less, keep
doing it and it stops bothering you completely. Macbeth s interest on how the blood was shed shows
intense signs of craziness. The blood imagery in this scene starts to pass a feeling of uneasiness to the
audience.

Why Women s Women Have Been Repressed For A Long Period...
Why not Women?
Women have been repressed for a long period of history. Only recently have women started to gain
respect as equals and individuals. While women s rights have advanced in many ways in the past 50
years alone, it is obvious that there is a significant disconnect in the advancement of women in the
church. The promotion of gender equality is a slow and painful process, and has barely begun to
progress worldwide. Attitudes towards women as leaders in the church, and in religion in general, are
rooted in Biblical interpretations of women s involvement, not only in leadership in the church, but
also in marriage, society, and government. The role of gender in religion is one that is often ignored;
yet the issue should be addressed in that most religions, particularly Christianity and Catholicism,
place women in submissive roles. This encourages the gender gap in society as a whole.
Traditionally, Christianity has given men the position of authority in marriage, society, and
government. The Catholic and Eastern Orthodox churches, and many conservative Protestant
denominations emphasize today that only men can be ordained as priests, clergy, and as deacons. Even
though women are not seen as traditional leaders in the church, the majority of Christians have
immense respect for women. After all, God chose a woman, Mary, to have the honor of giving birth to
Jesus, the Son of God. Historically, women have played very significant roles in religion. Nuns,
specifically,

Who Is Tom Jad A Good Character In The Grapes Of Wrath
(Your favorite character in the film Grapes of Wrath and why.)
In every movie or film or book, the reader unconsciously develops strong feeling for one of the
individual character. The reasons they may like them may be personal, or it may just be because they
heard that other person like him or her first. In the film Grapes of Wrath, there are many respectable
character in the plot line. While all of the characters may stand out to individual people, there is one
character everyone watching the film would want to be. It is clear that the main character in the film is
the best. Tom Joad is the best character in the film for many reasons such as: he is a loving family
member, he is a hard worker, and he also tries to the the right thing always. ... Show more content on

In the beginning of the film, the first thing that he does when he gets out of jail, is he goes to find his
family. And after he realizes they have left his home, he goes out to find them. While some people
would have gone and never come back to start a new life somewhere else. People can also see that he
is a loving and caring person by the way his family reacts when they see him for the first time since he
got out of jail. His little siblings are overjoyed and everyone crowds him. He is obviously a well liked
person to be around in his family, and any watcher could see that he is a loyal companion.
Another reason Tom Joad is the best character in Grapes of Wrath is because he is one of the hardest
workers in the film. When he gets out of jail, he works his hardest to find his family, even though he
has no idea where they are. He travels everywhere just to find them. Also when they get to Cali, he
finds them work, and he would have done anything to keep his family going by trying to work harder.
Even when he sneaks out at night, he goes off the try to help other people and that shows how hard he
is willing to work, even if it might get him into

How The Geographical, Governmental, And Human Development...
Those considered poor in developing countries often lack the fundamental access to buy adequate
food, water, or other basic needs. Although recent World Bank data has revealed that world poverty
has declined 43 percent since 1990 and 52 percent since 1981, poverty is still a worldwide
phenomenon that is prevalent even among the most highly industrialized countries . Presently,
according to World Bank data, 1.22 billion people live on less than $1.25 a day in 2010 and 2.4 billion
people live on less than US $2 a day in 2010. This is almost half of the world s population. The scope
of this study is limited somewhat because poverty is a multidimensional concept in which a
voluminous number of factors can be causally related to this phenomenon. Therefore, this research
will seek to answer what impact does the geographical, governmental, and human development
characteristics have on the rate of poverty in developing countries.
2. LITERATURE REVIEW
The existence of poverty is as old as time itself, and still perplexes scholars of the world today. The
conceptualization of poverty is a multifaceted phenomenon in which varying factors contribute to this
worldwide problem. Thus, six arguments of poverty will warrant closer examination: including
culture, gender inequality, economic growth, geographical region, human development, and
government. First, scholars that link culture to poverty argue those countries that are inherently poor
must change their prevailing customs and

The Effects Of A Highway Expansion On Highway 52
For my research I will be researching a highway expansion on highway 52 from Ft. Lupton all the way
to Keenesburg Colorado, and how the size of the highway affects people in my community. The issue
with this highway is that it is very dangerous because it is only two lanes, and the people that drive
through this highway at times drive very fast. Since there are hills from Keenesburg, at times the
driver cannot see who is coming. This can result in collision crashes. However that is not the only
problem with this highway.
In case of emergencies where one needs to pull over either because of the car problem or because
during the winter the road gets very icy and it is difficult for some cars that are not four by four to pull
over. There is no

The Power Of Adolf Hitler
There are many powerful leaders around the world that are one with the words, but one really stands
out: Adolf Hitler. He was very persuasive and he used the power of words to his competence to make
people stand beside him. Hitler was not a pleasant man, but he was a very astute one; he could
convince so many people that Jewish people were ominous in a couple of short sentences.
Additionally, he was so strong in various ways and that is why one may think of Adolf Hitler as the
most effective in using the power of words and language to influence others than any other man. Hitler
was always very persuasive, and three reasons why include: the way he uses words to make the
message persuasive, how he uses propaganda to convince people, and the way he uses words to create
emotion. To begin, the way Hitler uses words to make the message persuasive is very imperative.
Adolf Hitler always convinced people that Jews were abhorrent people, and the way he did that was
scare tactics. People frequently make decisions off of fear, so he chose to tell people about the scary
things that Jews would do if they took over. To add, this frightened Germans, making them rancor all
Jews, which put Hitler in the right direction to becoming a powerful leader. Even though everything
Hitler said about Jews was apocryphal, he made a lot of people believe that it was accurate, because of
the way he convinced people and got them on his side. In the political field he refuses the state the

Pros And Cons Of Zoo s Involvement In Wildlife Conservation
Animal captivation has been an on going debate for many years. The idea of taking wildlife from their
homes, in many eyes, is tragic. To others, it is a step in the right direction. It is a step towards, not only
well developed and in depth research, butalso a step towards the conservation of endangered species.
As one can tell, these views can be quite disputable, however this paper will discuss and compare both
perspectives as well as dive into more specific aspects of wildlife captivity. Some of these aspects
include the lifespan comparisons, specific roaming necessities per animal and even changes in animal
behavior. Of course, keeping animals in captivity has pros and cons. Given that researchers are still
uncertain of captivity ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This collection of sources includes mostly online articles as well as several news articles and books.
The sources range from the discussions of the lifespan of numerous animals tothe reasoning behind
study observations and research. In Zoos Involvement in Wildlife Conservation, Ramsey begins by
explaining the comparison between the beginning of animal captivity to the modern day
characteristics. He describes the very first zoos as having the focus to gain profit from the public,
rather than the concentration being towards the welfare of the animal. Today, the well being of animals
is the top priority in many programs across the world. Not only does this article also describe the
challenges that the programs must face, but also the difficult decisions the leaders are required to
make to continue their success in advanced research and conservation. Some of which include the
decision on whether or not to offer predators live prey to exert their natural hunting instincts. The
source concludes by informing the audience that some species could not have survived without the
help and involvement of zoos. Vittania.org emphasizes the effects on animals in captivity in its article
21 Pros and Cons of Zoos. This source explains how zoos provide educational learning, preservation
of endangered animals to prevent extinction, humane treatment towards the animals, readily available
veterinary care. In addition, zoos also serve as an economic resource for the community by providing
jobs and increasing tourism statistics. It goes on to explain the negative impacts such as changes in
their natural behaviors. Elephants, for example, need larger enclosures than a zoo can accommodate.
Restricting the animals natural need to migrate results in a shorter lifespan in captivity and also a more
aggressive temperament.Another negative impact

Internet Censorship of Child Porngraphy Essay
They who can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor
safety. Benjamin Franklin.
Technically speaking, internet censorship is difficult to achieve. Proponents of this measure seem to
have neglected the fact that putting in place a system of surveillance requires the establishment of
clear, unalterable rules. But often, such a task can be almost unfeasible since it is quite problematical
to define precisely the information that is supposed to be blocked. In the context of hate speech for
example, it is important to acknowledge the existence of a line between criticism, whether it is
constructive or not, and pure animosity.

When it comes to legal videos that may be inappropriate, the team instantly resorts to age restriction.
Both of these internet giants encourage free speech while supervising it and immediately removing
content that is clearly offensive to the general public. This concept of self regulation is a good
alternative to extensive Internet censorship, since the website only has its own contents to focus on,
rather than having an entire system of surveillance watching over the web, with the risk of it making
errors in the process. Most importantly, the main idea behind these guidelines is not censorship, but
moral, reasonable control.
We should not let the government interfere and impose its draconian laws. Censorship is nothing but a
violation of fundamental civil rights, starting with freedom of speech. By defying the First Law of
Amendment (reference), internet surveillance will only give the government greater power to run our
lives. Without our free will and autonomy, we are helpless, incapable of making a change. The Internet
is a place that promotes freedom, in all its forms. Web surfers connect to each other and share their
ideas for the world to read. Above all, they become fearless. They stop thinking about who could stop
them because they know that they are united, in this huge yet intimate world. Anarchists from all over

The Importance Of Assisted Suicide In The Suicide Tourist
I totally agree with Craig s choice to die at Dignitas because as his wife mentioned in the movie that
she had lost him six months before. He was present physically but the life within him was already lost.
Also, if we think about it, Craig was lucky to have a loving family and a supporting wife by his side
through his journey. He also had money to cover the cost of his voluntary suicide as well as his
funeral. Everyone is not as lucky as Craig. In the U.S, it is difficult to have good health even with
insurance coverage. As we watched the couples in Michael Moore s movie husband had multiple heart
attack and wife had gone through chemotherapy although they were covered by the insurance they
were left homeless with all the medical bills. In Suicide Tourist, Craig knew what was the outcome of
his disease. His health was only going to get worse from where he was.
We saw a hint of such legalization during Dr. Death s era in the 1990s. Dignitas in a way is replicated
after Dr. Kevorkian. The steps for voluntary suicide in The Suicide Tourist were pretty much parallel
to how Dr. Kevorkian carried out his plan. In the US, legalization of facilities like Dignitas will be
opposed because our society is highly conservative. In a country where marriage between same sex is
highly opposed, there is a small chance for the allowance of assisted suicide. Religious people may
believe that life is God s gift and we as human beings do not have any right to take it away. However,

But the subtle forms of anger, such as resentment, impatience, irritability, grouchiness, etc., can go on for hours and days at a time. Consistent, prolonged levels of anger give a person a five times greater chance of dying before age 50. Anger elevates blood pressure, increases threat of stroke, heart disease, cancer, depression, anxiety disorders, and, in general, depresses the immune system (angry people have lots of little aches and pains or get a lot of colds and bouts of flu or headaches or upset stomachs). To make matters worse, angry people tend to seek relief from the ill moods ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... You have an anger problem if some subtle form of anger that you may not even be aware of makes you do what is not in your best interest or keeps you from performing at your highest potential. This could mean something subtle, like putting a chilly wall between you and others or a continual impatience or low frustration tolerance that interferes with problem solving and performance competence. Whatever the form of anger, in persistence you run the risk of becoming a reactaholic, with your thoughts, feelings, and behavior totally controlled by whoever or whatever you re reacting to. The more reactive you are, the more powerless you feel; anger is ultimately a cry of powerlessness. Self Compassion and Compassion for Others Mastery of the three steps of self compassion and compassion for others makes us virtually immune to the ill effects of anger. The first step of self compassion is seeing beneath the symptom or defense (anger, anxiety, manipulation, obnoxious behavior) to the cause, which is some form of core hurt (feeling unimportant, disregarded, accused, devalued, guilty, untrustworthy, rejected, powerless, unlovable). Second, the core hurt must be validated (this is how I feel at this moment), and, third, changed (this behavior or event or disappointment or mistake does not mean that I m unimportant, not valuable or lovable.) Compassion for others is recognizing that their symptoms, defenses, and obnoxious behavior come from a core hurt, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

With a contemporary style relative to that of Virgil and Horace with whom he is often compared and rank with as the trio being the three most recognized poets of Latin literature. Quintilian the imperial scholar considered Ovid one of the last Latin love elegists. Orpheus often retreated to places where he could be alone and create poetry or make melody with his lyre. Ballerina Persuasive Speech Ballerinas Do Not Jump High Because They Are Light weighted, It Is Because They Know How to Recently an advert for the TTC had triggered protest from plus sized people: all the beautiful ballerinas doing elegant posts and jumps being slim and tall are featured in the We Move You advert, promoting the superior beauty of slimness. Many people may think that only slim people can do the ballet jumps, especially the classic one featured: the grand jetĆ©, a split in the air. But in reality, it s not the slimness in working, it s the physics. The word, grand jetĆ©, meaning big throw in French, is used to describe the move of the dancer throwing and hanging themselves in the air. In preparation of the jump, the dancer would run for a few steps or do a smaller jump to get their body in motion horizontally, and get their knees bent more to store energy that is used to push the whole body up, like jumping with a spring on, and take off. When the dancer s legs are off the ground, the real challenge starts. Any object off the ground, no matter how much it weighted, near the Earth surface is subjected to the constant gravitational force, which pulls the object, including the ballerina s body, down to the ground. • 16. International Adoptions Vs. International Adoption There are many different important aspects to consider in international adoptions versus domestic adoption. When adopting from a foreign country, it is important be comfortable with respecting and teaching the country s culture and ethics to that child as it is part of their cultural heritage. Likewise, children adopted internationally are of various ethnicities of which you must be comfortable with accepting into your own family. To adopt internationally, travel to the foreign country is usually required once or twice for a period of one to two weeks each trip. This will allow the chance to meet with the child selected for adoption. International adoptions are comprised of the adoption of a child from an orphanage. Due to government guidelines and abandonment issues in foreign countries, it is impossible or very limited to access information regarding the child or their family s medical or personal history prior to arrival at the orphanage (How to Adopt, n.d.). Because most children adopted internationally are cared for in an orphanage, they are at an increased risk of developmental or motor delays as also stated by How to Adopt (n.d.). It is also important to note that newborns are not available for adoption in foreign countries as it takes time to process all the foreign documentation and approval needed prior to travel to picking up the child and bringing them to the U.S. Child Referral Assignment. Unlike the domestic adoption process, internationals adoption consist of matching an already born child to the prospective adoptive parents. This referral process as identified by New Beginnings (n.d.) usually provides the adoptive parents with a picture of the child and any available information on the child regarding age, gender, family history, medical records, or special needs. From this information, the adoptive family will have to make the decision as to whether to proceed or decline the child referral. If the family agrees to continue, then the child will be officially assigned as being in the adoption process by the adoptive parents. Travel, Court Hearing and Finalization. This group has an appealing history, because of the aggressive way they responded to anthropologists who tried to investigate more about them. Due to their reactions against anthropologist, it is a challenge to do a research in their lifestyle. Their method of subsistence is considered old fashioned. The economic system is based in foraging and trades, and recently they started using the horticulture. It occurs in female meiosis rather than male meiosis due to the fact that opsin genes are produced by the X linked chromosome which females possess. This states that mothers are the sole carriers of color blindness and it is rare for a female to express color blindness. Dalton s eyes contributed to the understanding of color vision 150 years after his death. His interests on color blindness have paved the way to understand color deficiency in our society. Achromatopsia In Color Vision and Genetics in a Case of Cone Dysfunction Syndrome, Crognale and Neitz ask the question: How drastic are genetic variability s influential to our perception of color vision? To further answer this question, both researchers analyzed cone dysfunction syndrome and how it varies from normal color vision by having a patient in the study with an abnormal case of color vision ranging between achromatopsia to mild green deficiencies. Achromatopsia is the condition in which people perceive the world only of shades of grey while having normal cones in the retina (Snowden 2006). ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The first was of a movie in the action genre that dealt with revenge, whilst the other two were in the horror genre. The horror genre appealed to me more, as a low budget film can still have the desired effect by use of different filming techniques, and I wanted to depend more on a psychological aspect. My first idea was to do a film about a poltergeist. I had watched several films such as Poltergeist , but wanted to create a film that relied less on visual effects, something that leant towards the style of Albert Hitchcock, who is still seen today as the Master of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I purchased the Exorcist DVD, which featured a making of documentary. Here I learned of Friedkin s strict attention to detail, and also uncovered some of his secrets that made the film so effective. The film features two main techniques throughout the film that I immediately thought about adding to my own film, those being the use of lighting and sound. The film moves from very bright light scenes, such as the films opening in the Middle East, to the darkness of Georgetown (the films setting), or from the clean and well lit living room of the house, to the black and gloomy mist of the girl s bedroom. Why? The sound was used similarly, from eerily quiet to sudden loudness, one scene that uses this is the sharp cut from the Priest s gentle dream of his mother, to the piercing scream of the little girl. Why The use of restful music as the main soundtrack in The Exorcist added to the loud and quiet technique Friedkin used, to create the sense that everything is calm. I myself began my trailer using this technique, with some gentle music, so that when things begin to go wrong, the impact is more substantial. The voice that was created for the demon in this film was dubbed in synch after the scenes had been shot. I used this technique to dub in the voice of the priest in my trailer, the line I dare not say was recorded by microphone input ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Photography conveniently replaced with images the words that were once essential to describing a visual. Immanuel Kant one of the most recognized names in deontological theory proposed a theory that is based on determining if you are using someone or something as a means or an end. In essence stating that in order for a decision to be made one must take into account whether a person is being manipulated against their consent or they are being foster towards an equally beneficial end (O Neill, 1993). • 41. Why Women s Women Have Been Repressed For A Long Period... Why not Women? Women have been repressed for a long period of history. Only recently have women started to gain respect as equals and individuals. While women s rights have advanced in many ways in the past 50 years alone, it is obvious that there is a significant disconnect in the advancement of women in the church. The promotion of gender equality is a slow and painful process, and has barely begun to progress worldwide. Attitudes towards women as leaders in the church, and in religion in general, are rooted in Biblical interpretations of women s involvement, not only in leadership in the church, but also in marriage, society, and government. The role of gender in religion is one that is often ignored; yet the issue should be addressed in that most religions, particularly Christianity and Catholicism, place women in submissive roles. This encourages the gender gap in society as a whole. Traditionally, Christianity has given men the position of authority in marriage, society, and government. The Catholic and Eastern Orthodox churches, and many conservative Protestant denominations emphasize today that only men can be ordained as priests, clergy, and as deacons. Even though women are not seen as traditional leaders in the church, the majority of Christians have immense respect for women. After all, God chose a woman, Mary, to have the honor of giving birth to Jesus, the Son of God. Historically, women have played very significant roles in religion. Nuns, specifically, ... Although recent World Bank data has revealed that world poverty has declined 43 percent since 1990 and 52 percent since 1981, poverty is still a worldwide phenomenon that is prevalent even among the most highly industrialized countries . Presently, according to World Bank data, 1.22 billion people live on less than $1.25 a day in 2010 and 2.4 billion people live on less than US $2 a day in 2010. • 44. The Effects Of A Highway Expansion On Highway 52 For my research I will be researching a highway expansion on highway 52 from Ft. Lupton all the way to Keenesburg Colorado, and how the size of the highway affects people in my community. The issue with this highway is that it is very dangerous because it is only two lanes, and the people that drive through this highway at times drive very fast. Since there are hills from Keenesburg, at times the driver cannot see who is coming. This can result in collision crashes. However that is not the only problem with this highway. In case of emergencies where one needs to pull over either because of the car problem or because during the winter the road gets very icy and it is difficult for some cars that are not four by four to pull over. • 45. The Power Of Adolf Hitler There are many powerful leaders around the world that are one with the words, but one really stands out: Adolf Hitler. He was very persuasive and he used the power of words to his competence to make people stand beside him. Hitler was not a pleasant man, but he was a very astute one; he could convince so many people that Jewish people were ominous in a couple of short sentences. Additionally, he was so strong in various ways and that is why one may think of Adolf Hitler as the most effective in using the power of words and language to influence others than any other man. Hitler was always very persuasive, and three reasons why include: the way he uses words to make the message persuasive, how he uses propaganda to convince people, and the way he uses words to create emotion. To begin, the way Hitler uses words to make the message persuasive is very imperative. Adolf Hitler always convinced people that Jews were abhorrent people, and the way he did that was scare tactics. People frequently make decisions off of fear, so he chose to tell people about the scary things that Jews would do if they took over. To add, this frightened Germans, making them rancor all Jews, which put Hitler in the right direction to becoming a powerful leader. Even though everything Hitler said about Jews was apocryphal, he made a lot of people believe that it was accurate, because of the way he convinced people and got them on his side. In the political field he refuses the state the means for its ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 46. Pros And Cons Of Zoo s Involvement In Wildlife Conservation Animal captivation has been an on going debate for many years. The idea of taking wildlife from their homes, in many eyes, is tragic. To others, it is a step in the right direction. It is a step towards, not only well developed and in depth research, butalso a step towards the conservation of endangered species. As one can tell, these views can be quite disputable, however this paper will discuss and compare both perspectives as well as dive into more specific aspects of wildlife captivity. Some of these aspects include the lifespan comparisons, specific roaming necessities per animal and even changes in animal behavior. Of course, keeping animals in captivity has pros and cons. Given that researchers are still uncertain of captivity ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This collection of sources includes mostly online articles as well as several news articles and books. The sources range from the discussions of the lifespan of numerous animals tothe reasoning behind study observations and research. In Zoos Involvement in Wildlife Conservation, Ramsey begins by explaining the comparison between the beginning of animal captivity to the modern day characteristics. He describes the very first zoos as having the focus to gain profit from the public, rather than the concentration being towards the welfare of the animal. Today, the well being of animals is the top priority in many programs across the world. Not only does this article also describe the challenges that the programs must face, but also the difficult decisions the leaders are required to make to continue their success in advanced research and conservation. Some of which include the decision on whether or not to offer predators live prey to exert their natural hunting instincts. The source concludes by informing the audience that some species could not have survived without the help and involvement of zoos. Vittania.org emphasizes the effects on animals in captivity in its article 21 Pros and Cons of Zoos. This source explains how zoos provide educational learning, preservation of endangered animals to prevent extinction, humane treatment towards the animals, readily available veterinary care. In addition, zoos also serve as an economic resource for the community by providing jobs and increasing tourism statistics. It goes on to explain the negative impacts such as changes in their natural behaviors. Elephants, for example, need larger enclosures than a zoo can accommodate. Restricting the animals natural need to migrate results in a shorter lifespan in captivity and also a more aggressive temperament.Another negative impact ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 47. Internet Censorship of Child Porngraphy Essay They who can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety. Benjamin Franklin. Technically speaking, internet censorship is difficult to achieve. Proponents of this measure seem to have neglected the fact that putting in place a system of surveillance requires the establishment of clear, unalterable rules. But often, such a task can be almost unfeasible since it is quite problematical to define precisely the information that is supposed to be blocked. In the context of hate speech for example, it is important to acknowledge the existence of a line between criticism, whether it is constructive or not, and pure animosity. When it comes to legal videos that may be inappropriate, the team instantly resorts to age restriction. Both of these internet giants encourage free speech while supervising it and immediately removing content that is clearly offensive to the general public. This concept of self regulation is a good alternative to extensive Internet censorship, since the website only has its own contents to focus on, rather than having an entire system of surveillance watching over the web, with the risk of it making errors in the process. Most importantly, the main idea behind these guidelines is not censorship, but moral, reasonable control. We should not let the government interfere and impose its draconian laws. Censorship is nothing but a violation of fundamental civil rights, starting with freedom of speech. By defying the First Law of Amendment (reference), internet surveillance will only give the government greater power to run our lives. Without our free will and autonomy, we are helpless, incapable of making a change. The Internet is a place that promotes freedom, in all its forms. • 48. The Importance Of Assisted Suicide In The Suicide Tourist I totally agree with Craig s choice to die at Dignitas because as his wife mentioned in the movie that she had lost him six months before. He was present physically but the life within him was already lost. Also, if we think about it, Craig was lucky to have a loving family and a supporting wife by his side through his journey. He also had money to cover the cost of his voluntary suicide as well as his funeral. Everyone is not as lucky as Craig. In the U.S, it is difficult to have good health even with insurance coverage. As we watched the couples in Michael Moore s movie husband had multiple heart attack and wife had gone through chemotherapy although they were covered by the insurance they were left homeless with all the medical bills. In Suicide Tourist, Craig knew what was the outcome of his disease. His health was only going to get worse from where he was. We saw a hint of such legalization during Dr. Death s era in the 1990s. Dignitas in a way is replicated after Dr. Kevorkian. The steps for voluntary suicide in The Suicide Tourist were pretty much parallel to how Dr. Kevorkian carried out his plan. In the US, legalization of facilities like Dignitas will be opposed because our society is highly conservative. In a country where marriage between same sex is highly opposed, there is a small chance for the allowance of assisted suicide. Religious people may believe that life is God s gift and we as human beings do not have any right to take it away. However, I ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
