Students and the Civil Rights Movement During the 1960 s...
The 1960 s was a decade of tremendous social and political upheaval. In the United States, many
movements occurred by groups of people seeking to make positive changes in society. During this
decade, the Civil Rights movement continued to gain momentum. The black community was
continually persecuted and discriminated against by prejudice white individuals and figures of
authority. Blacks everywhere struggled to end discrimination. They demanded the right to vote, to
receive quality education, and to become respected individuals in the community which shunned
them. (Sitkoff 35) Students, in particular, played a significant role in the Civil Rights Movement
during the 1960 s. Many college students were outraged by ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Black school children, who were able to attend integrated schools, experienced extreme racial
discrimination from both their peers and their teachers, in an effort to force them to return to
segregated schools. (Curry 83) By 1965, at the elementary and secondary levels, 1,160 of the 3,028
southern school districts contained both white and black students. (Sitkoff 45) Almost 10% of all
black children were attending school with whites. (Sitkoff 45) The amount of desegregation that
occurred at public universities was greater than that of elementary and secondary schools. (Sitkoff 45)
Nevertheless, many conflicts and riots occurred on college campuses when blacks attempted to enroll.
James Howard Meredith was the first African American to attend the University of Mississippi during
the Civil Rights Movement. James Meredith attempted to register in the fall of 1962. (Curry 74)
Because of several violent threats, Meredith was accompanied by federal marshals. State officials tried
to block his entrance to the building. Protest groups formed, and riots broke out, in which two people
were killed. (Curry 74) After much controversy, James Meredith succeeded in registering at the
University of Mississippi, but federal marshals stayed to protect him until his graduation in 1963.

Analysis Of The Book Watchmen By Dave Gibbons
Watchmen written by Alan Moore and illustrated by Dave Gibbons utilizes the literary tool of symbols
to connect ideas and themes. Time is a major theme throughout the comic and plays a significant part
in the structure and outcome of the story. This theme is successfully coupled to the theme of destiny
by the use of the clock and other symbols that are present throughout the comic. Symbols such as
clocks, the smiley pin, and the graffiti are utilized to efficiently connect the themes of time, justice and
the loss of innocence and morality throughout Watchmen. The combination of all of these themes
ultimately allude to Ozymandias decision to unleash chaos on Manhattan by foreshadowing his
betrayal and explaining how impossible it is to entrench the peace that he has manufactured by
unleashing this chaos. The clocks in Watchmen are used to foreshadow crucial future events and
connect the themes of morality and time. Other than the literal connection between calling themselves
Watchmen and recurring images of actual watches, doomsday clocks and time in general plays a huge
part in the arc of the comic s storyline. This is because of the impending destruction that the world is
to face at the hands of Ozymandias. Doctor Manhattan s father was a watchmaker before learning that
time is irrelevant and therefore useless. Jon himself finds this out through his own experience with
time and seeing back and forth through it. This is particularly important because the whole reason he

Oldest And Most Important Disciplines Of Forensics
1. Abstract
Bloodstain pattern analysis is one of the oldest and most important disciplines of forensics. Its
importance and validation increases when used in combination with other evidence in court.
2. Introduction
Bloodstain pattern analysis is the interpretation of bloodstains found at a crime scene where a
bloodshed incident had occurred. Bloodstain pattern analysis can define events that could or could not
have occurred during the incident. This means that it is possible to sequence multiple events
associated with this incident. Bloodstains are reproducible phenomena when a similar environment is
used, hence the possibility of reconstructing a crime scene.1
Bloodstain pattern analysis uses principles of biology, physics and mathematics.2 It considers blood
behaviour, cohesion, capillary action, velocity, geometry, distance and angle. External forces such as
impact and accelerated motion, cohesive forces due to surface tension and viscosity, gravity and air
resistance will affect blood in a predictable way. This allows the analyst to determine the general
nature of the event that occurred, based on the physical characteristics of bloodstain patterns.1
Reconstructing a crime scene using BPA is of high importance, since it will help include or exclude a
potential perpetrator from the investigation.
2. Background
Bloodstain pattern analysis depends on the perception and the ability of the analyst to have an
objectified opinion. Therefore, a true taxonomic BPA

Essay on Moral Argument for Existence of God
All moral arguments for the existence of God work on the principle that we all have a shared sense of
morality. Despite cultural differences, broadly speaking, humans worldwide have a vague idea of what
is right and what is wrong; a moral argument for the existence of God would say that this mutual
understanding is proof of God s existence. Immanuel Kant put forward this argument (although, not a
moral argument); God as the source of objective morality. Firstly, he addressed the categorical
imperative; our own sense of duty, and that being moral was case of following this principle, for
example, paying your debts. He said that it was our duty to promote the highest good (summum
bonum), however virtue and happiness are independent of one ... Show more content on

Kant s other assumption is that everybody s aim is achieve summum bonum, but it would be wrong to
assume that everybody has the same goals in life. We can summarise Kant s argument into three
different stages, firstly; morality demands us to aim for the highest good, secondly; we cannot attain
this unless there is a God to assist us, and lastly; God must exist to ensure that we achieve that which
we are duty bound to do. If you were to share Kant s assumptions, it would become necessary to
assume that there is a God.
Although Kant s argument is indeed notable, there are a number of criticisms. Firstly, it does not prove
the God of classical theism, for if summum bonum can be achieved by humans, then it means that not
only God can, and he is not omnipotent. Secondly, Kant makes the enormous assumption that virtue
must be rewarded by happiness, but gives nothing to back up why this has to be the case. It is like
saying that salt and vinegar must go together on chips, but as they can t in this life, there must be an
afterlife where this can happen, such an assumption seems absurd. Another weakness, as previously
mentioned above, is that it seems wrong to assume that everyone feels that the same sense of duty to
strive for summum bonum.
HP Owen and Cardinal Newman put forward another moral argument, morality as derived from God
(via conscience and objective laws or rules). For

INTRODUCTION The most vital industry of our time is the energy industry. It provides energy to all
other industries and improves the quality of people s lives. Energy helps us produce and preserve all
basic necessities like food, fuel for transportation, power to keep machinery working and
communication technology accessible. Energy is found in a number of different forms as chemical
energy, electrical energy, thermal energy, solar energy, mechanical energy, and nuclear energy. The
future of the energy industries holds many responsibilities toward creating new technologies to
explore and transport energy to its final consumer respecting natural resources and minimizing
harmful environmental impact. The concerns on environmental impacts of the energy production
systems have made many countries take an extremely large amount of time developing policies that
regulate the energy industry. Those policies aim to control

Play Summary Of The Play Los Vendidos By Luis Valdez
Los Vendidos was written by Luis Valdez in 1967, the play tells us issues that Mexican Americans
faced throughout history. Los Vendidos translates to The Sold Ones, which interpreters Valdez s
opinion on Mexican s conformity to the American culture. The play defines four different versions of
Mexican men. The farmworker, Johnny Pachuco, The Revolucionario, and the Mexican American.
Luis Valdez addresses through humor the stereotypes and historical struggles that Mexican Americans
faced in 1967. Although the play was written almost half a century ago I believe it s still relevant
today.
We make assumptions about people, we label and categorize the world, putting people into little
groups. In the play Los Vendidos we can see four different types of Mexican stereotypes. ... Show

The secretary asks for a Mexican who is dark, but not too dark and a hard worker. The farmworker is
the right complexion, hardworking, friendly and economical. The farmworker represents hard working
Mexicans who work in American fields and factories, and jobs that require low skills. Honest Sancho
exults that the Farmworker can go with little food, sleep out in the field and returns to Mexico after
the harvest season. Eventually, he is not purchased because he does not speak English. The second
Mexican model is Johnny Pachuco the urban model. He represents the Lazy Thug. Pachuco steals
rather than works, uses drugs and is violent, runs on fast food, and can be beaten and bruised. The
secretary rejects Pachuco. The third Mexican model is the Early California Bandit Type. This Mexican
is most popularly seen in movies, traditional and romantic who rides horses, leads revolutions and
lives out in the mountains. Revolucionario is a rougher version of a Mexican who has a romantic side.

Urban Condition Research Paper
Urbanism demonstrates the cultural and material aspects of urban and city living. An urban condition
is basically a city plan. The space and community play a valuable role in the creative process of
designing an urban condition. Designing the spaces between the buildings is just as important and
designing the building itself. In the following essay, I will discuss the main critical elements necessary
to design a spatially rich urban condition.
To begin, public space assists in the creation of a memorable urban condition. Public space is what
makes any city different from any other. You may either have a very dense or spacious city . However,
the matter how you position your public space will change the perspective of others. A public space
can be the main entrance into the city or it can also, be in the center of a city. The public space is
defined by its surroundings, depending on the facade of the building and the shape of it. A public
space is supposed to represent the main space in an urban condition. A public space can transition
from a street to a void, it all depends on the shape of your urban city. A public space should be the
final step in the design process of creating a building. For the reason that, a public ... Show more

A threshold, that represent a transition from the edge of the city to the main city. The threshold should
represent a transition that allows you to go through the edge of the city. The edge of the city should
define a difference between what is outside and what is inside the city. If the edge of the city is a
skyline your threshold would most likely be represented by a bridge over water or an underwater
bridge. An example of this is going from New Jersey to New York, since the river is in between, the
only way to get there is through bridges. In picture 4 you can see how the edge of the city is defined
by the buildings and how the entrance to the city is only through a

Dish Network s Business Performance
Dish Network s business performance in primary practices
Strategy
Dish Network has a focused and clear business strategy, which articulates their goal and provides the
way to achieve it. Dish Network describes their strategy as to be the best provider of video services in
the United States by providing products with the best technology, outstanding customer service, and
great value in their annual report (Dish Network, 2015). Dish Network further explains the reason for
their strategy by emphasizing the unsatisfied demand of high quality and reasonably priced products
and services from television services subscribers. Their strategy can be well understood since it
focuses on consumers needs and is closely related to the success of their business. As a result, being
clear about what the strategy is and consistently communicating it to consumers, employees, and
shareholders enable Dish Network devise and maintain an excellent strategy, which is the key to their
business achievements (Nohria, Joyce, Roberson, 2003).
Execution
Dish Network s leadership team always puts consumers first when conducting business and states that
perfection is their standard. To achieve this goal, Dish Network follows the principles of double

Economic History of Countries
1. Are there any hidden assumptions or price rigidities in the country or countries that might inhibit
market force indicators from revealing the true economic health of the country, thereby either
preventing government policy actions from correcting the problems or otherwise making them
ineffective and counterproductive? This is absolutely the case. Prior economic histories of countries
around the world have proven that there are general results that can be expected from a given action or
series of actions, but this does not always hold true. The current state of affairs in the United States is
a glistening example of that. The groundwork and root statistics of the United States economy circa
February 2013 are pretty good, but jobless rates are still too high and GDP growth is anemic to
nothing. There are two commonly attributable reasons for that. The first is that businesses are being
very conservative with their funds. They re not investing and spending the way they usually would
because of the uneven and unpredictable conditions that are seen with the federal government, the
level of spending in general and the wider market.
The second primary reason that the economy is seemingly stuck in low gear is because consumer
spending is way down, just as home values are way down, and this has led to a much higher savings
rates rather than consumers making purchases discretionary and high ticket items in general.
What this leads to is that even if the government of the United

Essay on The PATRIOT Act is Necessary, Lawful and Effective
Two thousand nine hundred people from fifty four countries were killed on September 11, 2001. In
response to this tragedy, the United States of America passed the USA PATRIOT Act, an acronym
standing for Uniting and strengthening America by providing Appropriate Tools Required to Intercept
and Obstruct Terrorism Act, on October 26, 2001. The act gives law enforcement agencies and the
Foreign Intelligence Agency the right to share information. It also allows these agencies to tap phones
and gather other forms of information using delayed notice warrants. Investigators are also allowed to
get hold of personal information, such as library records, under this act (Update). Although critics of

Even when the Central Intelligence Agency, CIA, told the FBI that al Mihdhar and other Bin Laden
related individuals were in the United States, the FBI refused to open a criminal investigation because
at that time it was illegal to share information among the agencies. If this case had been opened, the
investigation of al Mihdhar could have given key evidence regarding the participants of the 9/11
attack beforehand, helping to prevent the attack (Kyl 140). The delayed notice and sneak and peek
warrants that the USA PATRIOT act allows are just as crucial as the information sharing between
intelligence and criminal investigators. As Attorney General Gonzales explains,
Winning the war on [terrorism] requires winning the war of information. [The United state is] dealing
with a very dangerous, very patient, very diabolical enemy who wants to [harm it], and in order to be
effective in dealing with this enemy, [the country needs] to have information. [The United States
needs] to know who the enemy is ...[,] what the enemy is thinking ...[, and] where the enemy is
thinking about striking [next].(Domestic)
The only way for investigators to acquire this sort of information is through delayed notice and sneak
and peak warrants. These types of search warrants allow investigators to conduct searches without
informing the subjects before the investigation. If investigators followed the previous protocol for
searches, they would not be able to gather

Jap A Very Long, Intense, And Confusing History
Japan has a very long, intense, and confusing history. Every time a new emperor took to power, the
capital would move to a different city. For example, in the year 710, Nara was the first permanent
capital, but in 784 the capital moved to Nagaoka (jnto.jp). When Tokugawa was appointed shogun, the
government was established in Edo, which is modern day Tokyo. As to keep the long, convoluted
history at bay, I m not going to cover all of it but rather start at the beginning of the 20th century. In
the year 1904, Japan and Russia had been fighting over Manchuria, the area around Korea, for quite
some time. Japan had declared war on Russia, but before the declaration had been received in
Moscow, the Japanese attacked Russian troops that were stationed at Port Arthur. During the next year,
there were many battles in Korea and the Sea of Japan, and, although both sides experienced high
casualties, Japan was able to remain victorious. In 1905, representatives from both countries met in
Portsmouth, New Hampshire for a peace agreement that was mediated. The treaty was finally decided
upon to give Japan Korea and most of Southern Manchuria. This victory for Japan was really
important as it had finally made them an Imperial Power. Because Japan they had won, Japan became
the first Asian power to defeat a European power (www.brittanica.com). Only 9 years later, Japan had
decided to enter World War 1. In 1914, Japan declared war against Germany. They demanded the

Not only does immunizations save parents money, it saves the government money. Not all people are

that is not fair because if the child is getting free health insurance, he or she should have to get
vaccinated to help prevent disease. If a parent cannot afford insurance or does not qualify for
government insurance, they are programs that will help

The Way Wordsworth and Heaney Present Nature and Rural...
The Way Wordsworth and Heaney Present Nature and Rural Life in Their Poetry
Born 1770, in Cockermouth, William Wordsworth spent his early life and many of his formative years
attending a boys school in Hawkshead, a village in the Lake District. As can be seen in his poetry, the
years he spent living in these rural surroundings provided many of the valuable experiences
Wordsworth had as he grew up.
At the age of 17, Wordsworth moved south to study at Saint John s College, University of Cambridge.
Later, in 1790, two years after the French Revolution had begun; he took a walking tour through
France and Switzerland on vacation. France obviously captivated Wordsworth s attention, because a

Within his poetry, Wordsworth contemplates the relationship between nature and human life. He
considers his pantheistic beliefs, while realising that nature has many different facets and possesses
the power to have spiritual and emotional impacts on the human form.
Wordsworth achieves this in his poetry by presenting nature in many different ways. This is shown
clearly in the poem, Daffodils where we can see Wordsworth exploring nature as a source of
wonderment; he responds and relates himself to the two underlying themes of memory and
imagination, on a spiritual level. Throughout the poem, it is clear that his focus was not to merely
describe, in the form of a detailed account, how he saw the daffodils and their surroundings, but to
consider the ways in which they affected how he felt that day and looking back when he reflects on
that experience. It has a wistful and nostalgic tone, with a strong feeling of sentiment.
The poem begins with a personal feeling of solitariness and despondency with the opening line, I
wandered lonely as a cloud that floats on high o er vales and hills. Wordsworth uses this simile to
compare himself to a cloud, which has many implications concerning how Wordsworth was feeling
that day. The word, lonely suggests that he felt isolated or simply free and

The beginning of the movie starts with a footage of football player Mike Webster (played by David
Morse), showing his plays for the Pittsburgh Steelers, as well as the man speaking in a conference.
This all took place in September 2002, Mike is homeless and living in his car, suffering from
dementia. Nigerian pathologist Dr. Bennet Omalu (played by Will Smith) is giving a testimony in
court over a murder case. He works at the coroner s office in Allegehney county where he has an odd
habit of speaking to the deceased. Webster visits Dr. Bailes over his condition. He appears to be
getting worse. Webster is visited at his car by fellow football player Strzelczyk, who is also suffering
from a similar condition. Webster complains that he doesn t want to go to sleep, so he is seeing tasing
himself to stay awake. He is later found dead and it shocks everyone. His body is brought in for
Bennet to examine. Bennet takes a look at Webster s brain and discovers severe head trauma that led
to his mental problems. He furthers his research by studying football videos and noticing the amount
of times he took serious blows to the head. After this Strzcelczyk is seen ready to attack his wife and
children, claiming that the voices in his head are telling him to kill them. His wife screams at him to
get out, and he drives away and ends up dying. Bennet examines them as well and concludes that the
men suffered from CTE (Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy). After word of this gets out, it is
believed that Bennet is trying to talk badly of the sport and is told to take back what he says.
Meanwhile, Dave Duerson is approached by fellow ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Process Of The Semi Structured Interview
The process of the semi structured interview was to find participants willing to be interviewed about
cheating. Once I found my participants I recorded our conversations whilst asking them questions
from my already prepared list of questions. I followed the list as I saw fit, mostly following the
questions, but breaking away a little depending on how the conversation flowed and always going
back to my original questions. The domain that was studied were college aged students, ages 18 25,
who were primarily UConn students. College students are seen as a major demographic for cheating,
so by conducting these interviews we are able to see what college students really think about cheating
and whether or not they are viewed correctly in society. In this study there were a total of 27
participants. 15 of the participants were female and 12 were male. The ages ranged from 19 25.
My process of finding themes in the data was to start by reading each transcript fully until I started to
see where people talked the mosts and brought up the most interesting points. Then I would read more
transcripts focusing on those questions. From there I found multiple themes that occurred in many of
the transcripts, then I narrowed them down to the four major themes that I wanted to discuss in my
paper. For first theme is how widespread cheating is. Most people have had experience with cheating.
Even if they never cheated or been cheated on, they know people who have cheated or been cheated
on.

Essay On Hedge
TWhy to hedge?
A hedge is aimed to offset potential losses on investment of an individual or an organization as it
reduces overal economic exposure of the two previously mentioned entities by guaranteeing favorable
outcome. In other words, a hedge is used to reduce any substantial losses/gains suffered by an
individual or an organization.
Advantages and disadvantages of hedging
Advantages
The main advantage of the currency exposure hedge it significantly lowers the risk of an investment.
As in the case of any investment, if an investor makes an investment in which there are many
independent variables that are out of their control, the investor would lose money if things do not go
as they planned. A hedge is aimed to offset these losses and thereby reduce any unwanted risk.
Hedging the transaction exposure with options also offers total protection against adverse currency
moves, potential profit in the case of favorable event and the flexibility of the contract itself; meaning
it offers a right, but not the obligation to buy or sell ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In this case, some investors would question the benefit of speculation related to the original
investment in this way, since there is always a possibility that different investment positions of the
same entity would offset themselves without any hedging, thus making the latter an unnecessary
expenditure. Two major costs constitute the disadvantage of hedging position: the cost of premium,
especialy with no major fluctuations on the market, and the opportunity cost if the option is cancelled
for a new, more beneficial purchase. The one and only risk as such associated with an interest rate
option is the premium, that is, the price paid for obtaining the right to buy of sell foreign currency at

Strathspey Formation
The Banks Group comprises of Hettangian to Sinemurian sediments up to 800 ft thick and forms the
lower of the two reservoir sections within the Strathspey Field. The Nansen and Statfjord Formations
are sub divisions within the unit (Knox and Cordey, 1993). The Stratfjord Formation shows a
significant increase in net to gross from the conformably underlying Cormorant Formation. The
formation consists of medium to coarse grained, fluvial channel sandstones interbedded with mud
prone overbank and palaeosol deposits. The Nansen Formation overlies the Statfjord Formation and is
composed of clean, tabular sandstone deposited under shallow marine conditions (Maxwell et al.,
2003).

The unit ages from Aalenian to the Bathonian and is subdivided into five formations: Broom,
Rannoch, Etive, Ness and Tarbet. At the base of the group the Broom Formation is only 15 ft thick
within the Strathspey Field and is composed of coarse grained shallow marine sandstones. The
Rannoch and Etive consist of V.fine to coarse grained sand which was deposited in shore face and
marginal marine settings. Within the Ness dominance of shoreface and fluvial channel facies is
attributed to the delta plain setting during this period. The Ness has a lower net to gross than the other
formations and is composed of fine to coarse grained sand, mudstone and coals. The Tarbert was
deposited in a shallow marine environment and is composed of fine to coarse sand.
Humber Group
The Brent group is capped by the Humber group which can be sub divided into the Heather and
Kimmeridge Clay Formations, both of which are deep marine mudstones. Separating the formations
and atop of the Brent group are unconformities attributed to the extension of the North Viking Graben
and rotation of the Strathspey fault block during the late Jurassic. The thickness of this unit varies
across the field; at the crest where erosion was greatest it can be less than 20 ft thick but increases to
300 ft towards the western hanging wall of the Ninian Hutton Fault (Knox and Cordey,

Vladimir Putin
In 1513, an Italian politician by the name of Niccolo Machiavelli distributed, though privately, a
political treatise called The Prince. This treatise was, essentially, a guide on how to effectively rule
one s country. It s important beforehand to define exactly what a Machiavellian is, before describing
one. A Machiavellian is a leader who, through his power and influence, works toward the common
good of his people. This can be done through fear, through deceit, even through manipulation. It is
important to understand the main principle of a Machiavellian; the end justifies the means. The end
being the common good of his people. Vladimir Putin is a Machiavellian in the ways he retains power,
institutes reform, and executes economic ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
His climb to power landed himself at the foot of the Russian presidency when President Yeltsin
resigned, naming Putin as his successor to office. Since then, President Putin has found ways to stay in
power through change in constitutional law within Russia, which had formerly caused Putin to step
down as President in 2008. However, as Putin had named Dmitry Medvedev his successor, Medvedev
in turn named Putin, Prime Minister. In most cases, Medvedev would ve run for a second term, but
instead stated he was switching positions with Putin, giving Putin his third term in office. While Putin
faced protests across Russia from the outcome of this election, he was largely able to stop the protests
by jailing the opposition and cracking down on any who spoke out against him. All of this leads up to
Machiavelli s 8th chapter, Chapter VIII in The Prince: Concerning Those Who Have Obtained A
Principality By Wickedness. Machiavelli talks of those who betray and kill friends to climb the latter
of power, only to realize that they can only ever achieve power, and never glory. A characteristic of a
ruler must be one of cold calculation, knowing exactly what to do should the moment come to inflict
some action of injury, as Machiavelli puts it, saying the ruler

Themes Of The Play Two Trains Running
The themes of the play are Two Trains Running is a political play that makes extended reference to the
black power movement and its impact on poor urban communities like the Hill District of Pittsburgh.
The issue of continued white oppression of African Americans and the response of the black
community during the 1960s is at the foreground of the characters experience. The community
surrounding the restaurant is undergoing a major redevelopment, probably one which has been
precipitated by the social initiatives that came in the wake of the civil rights movement. However, the
legal rights and privileges that the African American community won during the 1950s and 1960s do
not seem necessarily to extend to impoverished city dwellers. An underlying sense of tragedy and
hopelessness pervades even short term victories such as the city awarding Memphis thirty five
thousand dollars, since Memphis remains estranged from his wife and has the foreboding..
The set: The set looks pretty unique and legit. It seems like a real diner. You have actual table booths,
a small counter, a kitchen in the back. They also had dinnerware and coffee at the diner. Even though
it is highly possible the cups were empty it s amazing how the all the additions they made made the
diner stand out. During the play the characters as they mentioned after the play that each of them had
their own table they owned in the way each of them came in and sat where they usually sit.

General Electric And Transformation Of Company
This case study follows General Electric, and the transformation that company made over two decades
of business. General Electric was founded in 1878 by Thomas Edison, and according to the case study,
[GE] grew from its early focus on the generation, distribution, and use of electric power to become, a
hundred years later, one of the world s leading diversified industrial companies (Wozny, 2005, p.1).
General Electric grew its name in business through their work in power generation, lighting, and
household appliances. The case study also mentions that General Electric worked with aircraft
engines, medical systems, and diesel motors. GE was a company that was constantly changing and
adapting. It was in the 1950s, that the company had delegated work to hundreds of managers for
different departments of the company. In 1973 a new CEO came up the ranks of the company, Reg
Jones inherited the company and started a complete reorganization. According to the case study, Reg
Jones started by
overlaying its 10 groups, 46 divisions, and 190 departments were 43 strategic business units designed
to support the strategic planning that was so central to GE s management process. Jones raised
strategic planning to an art form, and GE again became the benchmark for hundreds of companies that
imitated its SBU based structure and its sophisticated planning processes. Soon, however, Jones was
unable to keep up with reviewing and approving the massive volumes of information generated by 43

Looking back, I remember this moment as if it were yesterday. It seemed as if all my senses were
heightened. I can still remember the smell of the fresh cut grass, the freshly chalked lines, the feel of
the sun beating down on my exposed skin and the sounds of all the younger kids playing in the back
ground. More importantly though, I remember the way I felt when I first saw my teammates. I felt a
great sense of happiness. Additionally, I felt warm inside, a sense of excitement, loved, needed, and
wanted. Even though I had my biological family, I also had a second family in them. This was my
Sunday family. That game, that day, was one of our biggest games! Not only was it against our biggest
rival but the winner went on to play in the state championship. The team we were playing had beaten
us twice and we had beaten them twice as well. We were evenly matched at every level, but still, I felt
nervous, anxious, scared and even excited. As a goalie, I knew that a lot of the important aspects of the
game rested directly on my shoulders, a feat to which I gladly accepted.
Finally, after what felt like a lifetime, the whistle blew. This indicated that the game had begun. We
had ninety minutes to show everyone, including ourselves, why we were the better team. As the game
progressed, it became apparent that I was struggling in my position. I had let two goals go in, that on

Comparing The Convict And The Bishop
The Convict and The Bishop Have you ever wondered what it is like to have a convict in your home?
Well, if you haven t, the bishop in this story lived with a convict named Valjean. In The Convict and
The Bishop the convict was a bad person in the past but is now in the process of getting his act
together. Valjean has been traveling for four days, but has no food or bed until he meets the bishop.
The bishop is helpful and wants the convict to redeem himself. Valjean is mistreated by everyone
except for the bishop. The bishop is all for redemption, so he wants to help Valjean become a better
person. Valjean was an ex convict who just got out of jail and was walking to town. When he made it
to town after four days of walking he was tired and hungry. He traveled to the inn after his long
journey and asked for a room and food. The inn was filled with guest, but the boss said that the cook
would fix him some food. They later noticed that he was a little suspicious and made excuses for him
to leave. Next, he went to a bar ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Valjean felt bad and was very sorry for what he did. He knew he should ve done that, because the
bishop has helped him tremendously. All Valjean wants is forgiveness, and lucky for him that the
bishop is willing to forgive. The bishop has not forgotten what Valjean has done, because he wants
him to learn and get better because of his mistakes. Valjean is trying to earn back his trust, by helping
whenever he can. What thing that proved he was sorry was that he didn t hurt the bishop when he slept
with his door open. The bishop later calls Valjean his brother, because that s what he is in the bishop s
eyes. He prayed asking to take the evil out of Valjean s heart and replace it with good, and that meant
a lot to Valjean. This brought happiness to both people, and shows you can be forgiven for your
mistakes and there with be mercy

The Structural Analysis Of Extreme Learning Machine ( ELM )
Extreme Learning Machine (ELM)
Extreme Learning Machine is a feedforward neural network for the regression, sparse approximation,
feature learning, compression, clustering and for classification with a single or multi layers of hidden
nodes in which the parameters are randomly generated and they are need not be changed. The hidden
nodes are assigned randomly and are never updated. But they can be inherited from their ancestors. In
many cases the output weights of hidden nodes are generally learned in a single layer which is
essential for learning a linear model.
First, the ELM was proposed for the single hidden layer feedforward neural network (SLFN), which
was then changed to single hidden layer feedforward network, since the hidden nodes ... Show more

An important step in ELM is to find the output weights . It is solved by reducing the training error and
also the rule of the output weights. If the norms of weights and training error are smaller, then the
generalization performance of SLFNs tends to get better.
The main function can be termed as .
To solve the above problem, smallest norm least square method is used. where, is the Moore Penrose
generalized inverse of matrix Q.
Several methods are there to calculate such as orthogonalization method, orthogonal projection
method, Singular Value Decomposition (SVD) method and the iterative method.
The orthogonal projection approach can be utilized efficiently in two cases. One is when is
nonsingular and the other is when is nonsingular. On the basis of Ridge Regression Theory, the
generalization function and the stability of SLFN can be enhanced by adding a positive value to the
diagonal of or .Using this method can be computed as follows, when is nonsingular, when is

How Swaziland Is A Developing Country
Swaziland is a developing country that is facing many problems which can only be solved through
political reform. Swaziland is located in south eastern Africa and is the last country in Africa to still
have an absolute monarchy. This country has a large health problem, including the highest rate of HIV
in Africa. Swaziland s monarch, King Mswati lll, holds all of the power. Swaziland s economy is
stagnant and its economic growth is steadily declining While the king lives a life of luxury, over fifty
percent of the population of Swaziland live in poverty. Swaziland is also a landlocked country located
in an area in which tropical storms are not uncommon. Swaziland is continuing to struggle as a
developing country for these reasons.
Swaziland has a history of struggle and hardships. According to the US Department of State (2014),
September 6, 1968 marked the day that Swaziland finally gained it s independence from Great Britain.
Independence, however, would not mean freedom for the people of Swaziland. Five years later, King
Sobhuza dissolved the parliament of Swaziland on April 12, 1973. This resulted in King Sobhuza
absorbing all political power in the country, which he used to ban all other political parties from
operating. This would pave the way for the future monarchs of Swaziland to maintain absolute power.
One notable party, the Swaziland Democratic Party, was established on September 24, 2011. They
have failed to consolidate any significant political power for the

International Journal Of Communication ( 19328036 ) Essay
Becker, H. S. (2010). How to Find Out How to Do Qualitative Research. International Journal Of
Communication (19328036), 4545 553.
Background: In 2009 the National Science Foundation held a conference and issued a document about
qualitative methods what they are lacking. This article pointed out the shortcomings of that report. The
NSF went so far has to tell researches using qualitative methods to learn real science defined as
theoretically derived, testable hypotheses, with methods of data gathering in order to get NSF grants.
This would throw out case studies and surveys, which allow unique research insights and are often the
start of bigger ideas. Becker (2010) counters that good qualitative data is based around interpreting
data as you get it. When conducting research the researchers may not know very much about their
object of study and as they learn, it raises more questions, allowing researcher to gather more data and
better interpretations.
Commentary: This article focused on qualitative research, for both experimental and non experimental
data. Such as surveys, questionnaires, and case studies. This would be useful when designing a
qualitative study to know researchers may have to go back and re think their design even in the data
collection part of the study.

Midsummer Night Dream Creative Response Essay
The creative response I have written is a modern parody adaption of act two, scene two and act three,
scene two. The theme I have focused on is the complexities of love and the motif of love out of
balance which is portrayed throughout the play. I have specifically chosen these scenes to focus on the
romantic entanglement between Hermia, Helena, Lysander and Demetrius. In these scenes Puck uses a
magical love potion to create disturbance and chaos amongst these characters romances.
My creative response adapts act two and three scenes two by modernizing the play so that these
couples each live in their own house on the same street. I have designed the creative response so that
the only way these couples communicate with each other is through the use of letters. This will mean
that they never physical see each other during the adaption. I have also introduced a mailman that
represents Puck who acts as the mechanics of the play. Since all the characters never see each other in
the adaption, I was able to create disturbance and chaos in the romances by using Puck to make the
letters appear as if they were written by a different character. The difference between the original
Midsummers Night Dream and my adaption is that Puck places the love potion accidently in the
original, whereas in my adaption Puck, for whom is now the leading character, intentional gives the
letters to the wrong address and create confusion that satisfies his entertainment needs. My adaption is

Definition Essay On Underdogs
At first I didn t quit understand the meaning of an underdog . Without reading and asking for the
definition I really believed that this word was a term use to define some kind of a bad day at work
(dog s day). After reading the definition on Wikipedia I truly understood that I was wrong.
An underdog, as defined by Wikipedia is : a person or group in a competition, usually in sports and
creative works, who is popularly expected to lose. The party, team, or individual expected to win is
called the favorite or top dog. In the case where an underdog wins, the outcome is anupset. An
underdog bet is a bet on the underdog or outsider for which the odds are generally higher.

Jason, with a mental disability overcame the odds by showing that being different as not an illness.
With less experience than Seabiscuits and Red, Jason showed his teammate that he could play
basketball has well as all of them. Being an assistant manager who had never played a game during
the year, he was introduced at the last few minutes of the last game and became a hero at that moment
but he showed everybody that he could play by scoring more points than everybody during the whole
game.
He was an underdog because no one believed he could play basketball and he proved everybody
wrong. He believed in himself and lived the present moment.
I ve never really seen myself as an underdog but being the only girl in a family of four kids I think it
makes me one. Since I have three brothers, we often do boys activities. They are very competitive and
often thinks that I can t be better then them. But a lot of times I win because I m stronger then they are
and I also have to prove them that I can play with them. So, like Seabicuits, Red and Jason, I m not
suppose to win against my brothers but more often then not I do...so I m an underdog and very proud
of it.
In conclusion I truly believe that there is an underdog in every one of us, you just have to believe in
yourself and you will find a way to impress and surpass

  • 3. Students and the Civil Rights Movement During the 1960 s... The 1960 s was a decade of tremendous social and political upheaval. In the United States, many movements occurred by groups of people seeking to make positive changes in society. During this decade, the Civil Rights movement continued to gain momentum. The black community was continually persecuted and discriminated against by prejudice white individuals and figures of authority. Blacks everywhere struggled to end discrimination. They demanded the right to vote, to receive quality education, and to become respected individuals in the community which shunned them. (Sitkoff 35) Students, in particular, played a significant role in the Civil Rights Movement during the 1960 s. Many college students were outraged by ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Black school children, who were able to attend integrated schools, experienced extreme racial discrimination from both their peers and their teachers, in an effort to force them to return to segregated schools. (Curry 83) By 1965, at the elementary and secondary levels, 1,160 of the 3,028 southern school districts contained both white and black students. (Sitkoff 45) Almost 10% of all black children were attending school with whites. (Sitkoff 45) The amount of desegregation that occurred at public universities was greater than that of elementary and secondary schools. (Sitkoff 45) Nevertheless, many conflicts and riots occurred on college campuses when blacks attempted to enroll. James Howard Meredith was the first African American to attend the University of Mississippi during the Civil Rights Movement. James Meredith attempted to register in the fall of 1962. (Curry 74) Because of several violent threats, Meredith was accompanied by federal marshals. State officials tried to block his entrance to the building. Protest groups formed, and riots broke out, in which two people were killed. (Curry 74) After much controversy, James Meredith succeeded in registering at the University of Mississippi, but federal marshals stayed to protect him until his graduation in 1963. • 4. Analysis Of The Book Watchmen By Dave Gibbons Watchmen written by Alan Moore and illustrated by Dave Gibbons utilizes the literary tool of symbols to connect ideas and themes. Time is a major theme throughout the comic and plays a significant part in the structure and outcome of the story. This theme is successfully coupled to the theme of destiny by the use of the clock and other symbols that are present throughout the comic. Symbols such as clocks, the smiley pin, and the graffiti are utilized to efficiently connect the themes of time, justice and the loss of innocence and morality throughout Watchmen. The combination of all of these themes ultimately allude to Ozymandias decision to unleash chaos on Manhattan by foreshadowing his betrayal and explaining how impossible it is to entrench the peace that he has manufactured by unleashing this chaos. The clocks in Watchmen are used to foreshadow crucial future events and connect the themes of morality and time. Other than the literal connection between calling themselves Watchmen and recurring images of actual watches, doomsday clocks and time in general plays a huge part in the arc of the comic s storyline. This is because of the impending destruction that the world is to face at the hands of Ozymandias. Doctor Manhattan s father was a watchmaker before learning that time is irrelevant and therefore useless. Jon himself finds this out through his own experience with time and seeing back and forth through it. This is particularly important because the whole reason he ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Oldest And Most Important Disciplines Of Forensics 1. Abstract Bloodstain pattern analysis is one of the oldest and most important disciplines of forensics. Its importance and validation increases when used in combination with other evidence in court. 2. Introduction Bloodstain pattern analysis is the interpretation of bloodstains found at a crime scene where a bloodshed incident had occurred. Bloodstain pattern analysis can define events that could or could not have occurred during the incident. This means that it is possible to sequence multiple events associated with this incident. Bloodstains are reproducible phenomena when a similar environment is used, hence the possibility of reconstructing a crime scene.1 Bloodstain pattern analysis uses principles of biology, physics and mathematics.2 It considers blood behaviour, cohesion, capillary action, velocity, geometry, distance and angle. External forces such as impact and accelerated motion, cohesive forces due to surface tension and viscosity, gravity and air resistance will affect blood in a predictable way. This allows the analyst to determine the general nature of the event that occurred, based on the physical characteristics of bloodstain patterns.1 Reconstructing a crime scene using BPA is of high importance, since it will help include or exclude a potential perpetrator from the investigation. 2. Background Bloodstain pattern analysis depends on the perception and the ability of the analyst to have an objectified opinion. Therefore, a true taxonomic BPA ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Essay on Moral Argument for Existence of God All moral arguments for the existence of God work on the principle that we all have a shared sense of morality. Despite cultural differences, broadly speaking, humans worldwide have a vague idea of what is right and what is wrong; a moral argument for the existence of God would say that this mutual understanding is proof of God s existence. Immanuel Kant put forward this argument (although, not a moral argument); God as the source of objective morality. Firstly, he addressed the categorical imperative; our own sense of duty, and that being moral was case of following this principle, for example, paying your debts. He said that it was our duty to promote the highest good (summum bonum), however virtue and happiness are independent of one ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Kant s other assumption is that everybody s aim is achieve summum bonum, but it would be wrong to assume that everybody has the same goals in life. We can summarise Kant s argument into three different stages, firstly; morality demands us to aim for the highest good, secondly; we cannot attain this unless there is a God to assist us, and lastly; God must exist to ensure that we achieve that which we are duty bound to do. If you were to share Kant s assumptions, it would become necessary to assume that there is a God. Although Kant s argument is indeed notable, there are a number of criticisms. Firstly, it does not prove the God of classical theism, for if summum bonum can be achieved by humans, then it means that not only God can, and he is not omnipotent. Secondly, Kant makes the enormous assumption that virtue must be rewarded by happiness, but gives nothing to back up why this has to be the case. It is like saying that salt and vinegar must go together on chips, but as they can t in this life, there must be an afterlife where this can happen, such an assumption seems absurd. Another weakness, as previously mentioned above, is that it seems wrong to assume that everyone feels that the same sense of duty to strive for summum bonum. HP Owen and Cardinal Newman put forward another moral argument, morality as derived from God (via conscience and objective laws or rules). For ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Los Vendidos translates to The Sold Ones, which interpreters Valdez s opinion on Mexican s conformity to the American culture. The play defines four different versions of Mexican men. The farmworker, Johnny Pachuco, The Revolucionario, and the Mexican American. Luis Valdez addresses through humor the stereotypes and historical struggles that Mexican Americans faced in 1967. • 11. Urban Condition Research Paper Urbanism demonstrates the cultural and material aspects of urban and city living. An urban condition is basically a city plan. The space and community play a valuable role in the creative process of designing an urban condition. Designing the spaces between the buildings is just as important and designing the building itself. In the following essay, I will discuss the main critical elements necessary to design a spatially rich urban condition. To begin, public space assists in the creation of a memorable urban condition. Public space is what makes any city different from any other. You may either have a very dense or spacious city . However, the matter how you position your public space will change the perspective of others. A public space can be the main entrance into the city or it can also, be in the center of a city. The public space is defined by its surroundings, depending on the facade of the building and the shape of it. A public space is supposed to represent the main space in an urban condition. A public space can transition from a street to a void, it all depends on the shape of your urban city. A public space should be the final step in the design process of creating a building. An example of this is going from New Jersey to New York, since the river is in between, the only way to get there is through bridges. • 13. Economic History of Countries 1. Are there any hidden assumptions or price rigidities in the country or countries that might inhibit market force indicators from revealing the true economic health of the country, thereby either preventing government policy actions from correcting the problems or otherwise making them ineffective and counterproductive? This is absolutely the case. Prior economic histories of countries around the world have proven that there are general results that can be expected from a given action or series of actions, but this does not always hold true. The current state of affairs in the United States is a glistening example of that. The groundwork and root statistics of the United States economy circa February 2013 are pretty good, but jobless rates are still too high and GDP growth is anemic to nothing. There are two commonly attributable reasons for that. The first is that businesses are being very conservative with their funds. They re not investing and spending the way they usually would because of the uneven and unpredictable conditions that are seen with the federal government, the level of spending in general and the wider market. The second primary reason that the economy is seemingly stuck in low gear is because consumer spending is way down, just as home values are way down, and this has led to a much higher savings rates rather than consumers making purchases discretionary and high ticket items in general. In response to this tragedy, the United States of America passed the USA PATRIOT Act, an acronym standing for Uniting and strengthening America by providing Appropriate Tools Required to Intercept and Obstruct Terrorism Act, on October 26, 2001. The act gives law enforcement agencies and the Foreign Intelligence Agency the right to share information. • 18. Jap A Very Long, Intense, And Confusing History Japan has a very long, intense, and confusing history. Every time a new emperor took to power, the capital would move to a different city. For example, in the year 710, Nara was the first permanent capital, but in 784 the capital moved to Nagaoka (jnto.jp). When Tokugawa was appointed shogun, the government was established in Edo, which is modern day Tokyo. As to keep the long, convoluted history at bay, I m not going to cover all of it but rather start at the beginning of the 20th century. In the year 1904, Japan and Russia had been fighting over Manchuria, the area around Korea, for quite some time. Japan had declared war on Russia, but before the declaration had been received in Moscow, the Japanese attacked Russian troops that were stationed at Port Arthur. During the next year, there were many battles in Korea and the Sea of Japan, and, although both sides experienced high casualties, Japan was able to remain victorious. In 1905, representatives from both countries met in Portsmouth, New Hampshire for a peace agreement that was mediated. The treaty was finally decided upon to give Japan Korea and most of Southern Manchuria. This victory for Japan was really important as it had finally made them an Imperial Power. Because Japan they had won, Japan became the first Asian power to defeat a European power (www.brittanica.com). Only 9 years later, Japan had decided to enter World War 1. The Way Wordsworth and Heaney Present Nature and Rural Life in Their Poetry Born 1770, in Cockermouth, William Wordsworth spent his early life and many of his formative years attending a boys school in Hawkshead, a village in the Lake District. As can be seen in his poetry, the years he spent living in these rural surroundings provided many of the valuable experiences Wordsworth had as he grew up. At the age of 17, Wordsworth moved south to study at Saint John s College, University of Cambridge. Within his poetry, Wordsworth contemplates the relationship between nature and human life. He considers his pantheistic beliefs, while realising that nature has many different facets and possesses the power to have spiritual and emotional impacts on the human form. Wordsworth achieves this in his poetry by presenting nature in many different ways. This is shown clearly in the poem, Daffodils where we can see Wordsworth exploring nature as a source of wonderment; he responds and relates himself to the two underlying themes of memory and imagination, on a spiritual level. Throughout the poem, it is clear that his focus was not to merely describe, in the form of a detailed account, how he saw the daffodils and their surroundings, but to consider the ways in which they affected how he felt that day and looking back when he reflects on that experience. It has a wistful and nostalgic tone, with a strong feeling of sentiment. The poem begins with a personal feeling of solitariness and despondency with the opening line, I wandered lonely as a cloud that floats on high o er vales and hills. Wordsworth uses this simile to compare himself to a cloud, which has many implications concerning how Wordsworth was feeling that day. The domain that was studied were college aged students, ages 18 25, who were primarily UConn students. College students are seen as a major demographic for cheating, so by conducting these interviews we are able to see what college students really think about cheating and whether or not they are viewed correctly in society. In this study there were a total of 27 participants. 15 of the participants were female and 12 were male. The ages ranged from 19 25. My process of finding themes in the data was to start by reading each transcript fully until I started to see where people talked the mosts and brought up the most interesting points. Then I would read more transcripts focusing on those questions. From there I found multiple themes that occurred in many of the transcripts, then I narrowed them down to the four major themes that I wanted to discuss in my paper. For first theme is how widespread cheating is. Most people have had experience with cheating. Even if they never cheated or been cheated on, they know people who have cheated or been cheated on. ... The NSF went so far has to tell researches using qualitative methods to learn real science defined as theoretically derived, testable hypotheses, with methods of data gathering in order to get NSF grants. This would throw out case studies and surveys, which allow unique research insights and are often the start of bigger ideas. Becker (2010) counters that good qualitative data is based around interpreting data as you get it. When conducting research the researchers may not know very much about their object of study and as they learn, it raises more questions, allowing researcher to gather more data and better interpretations. Commentary: This article focused on qualitative research, for both experimental and non experimental data. Such as surveys, questionnaires, and case studies. This would be useful when designing a qualitative study to know researchers may have to go back and re think their design even in the data collection part of the study. Davis, J., Sandifer Stech, D. • 35. Midsummer Night Dream Creative Response Essay The creative response I have written is a modern parody adaption of act two, scene two and act three, scene two. The theme I have focused on is the complexities of love and the motif of love out of balance which is portrayed throughout the play. I have specifically chosen these scenes to focus on the romantic entanglement between Hermia, Helena, Lysander and Demetrius. In these scenes Puck uses a magical love potion to create disturbance and chaos amongst these characters romances. My creative response adapts act two and three scenes two by modernizing the play so that these couples each live in their own house on the same street. I have designed the creative response so that the only way these couples communicate with each other is through the use of letters. This will mean that they never physical see each other during the adaption. I have also introduced a mailman that represents Puck who acts as the mechanics of the play. Since all the characters never see each other in the adaption, I was able to create disturbance and chaos in the romances by using Puck to make the letters appear as if they were written by a different character. The difference between the original Midsummers Night Dream and my adaption is that Puck places the love potion accidently in the original, whereas in my adaption Puck, for whom is now the leading character, intentional gives the letters to the wrong address and create confusion that satisfies his entertainment needs. My adaption is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The majority of these headings reference specific quotes and translations of the original script. • 36. Definition Essay On Underdogs At first I didn t quit understand the meaning of an underdog . Without reading and asking for the definition I really believed that this word was a term use to define some kind of a bad day at work (dog s day). After reading the definition on Wikipedia I truly understood that I was wrong. An underdog, as defined by Wikipedia is : a person or group in a competition, usually in sports and creative works, who is popularly expected to lose. The party, team, or individual expected to win is called the favorite or top dog. In the case where an underdog wins, the outcome is anupset. An underdog bet is a bet on the underdog or outsider for which the odds are generally higher. As I red the two stories of Seabiscuit and Jason McElwain I truly understood ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Jason, with a mental disability overcame the odds by showing that being different as not an illness. With less experience than Seabiscuits and Red, Jason showed his teammate that he could play basketball has well as all of them. Being an assistant manager who had never played a game during the year, he was introduced at the last few minutes of the last game and became a hero at that moment but he showed everybody that he could play by scoring more points than everybody during the whole game. He was an underdog because no one believed he could play basketball and he proved everybody wrong. He believed in himself and lived the present moment. I ve never really seen myself as an underdog but being the only girl in a family of four kids I think it makes me one. Since I have three brothers, we often do boys activities. They are very competitive and often thinks that I can t be better then them. But a lot of times I win because I m stronger then they are and I also have to prove them that I can play with them. So, like Seabicuits, Red and Jason, I m not suppose to win against my brothers but more often then not I do...so I m an underdog and very proud of it. In conclusion I truly believe that there is an underdog in every one of us, you just have to believe in yourself and you will find a way to impress and surpass ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
