The Nazi Party
On January 20, 1942 a meeting was held with fifteen men who were either part of the Nazi party or
other powerful government leaders. The meeting took place in a wealthy area in Berlin on a lake that
was named Wannsee. The final solution to the jewish question was the focus of the meeting. The term
final solution was the phrase used by the Nazi s for their plan for the extermination of all European
Jews. This meeting was the first time that the government leaders not involved with the Nazi party
were introduced to the plan for the Jews that the Nazi s had carefully developed. The meeting was
formally known as the Wannsee Conference and the minutes that came from that conference were top
secret and were not meant for others to see ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There was not a single person present at the conference that opposed the final solution . A modern
country had never made a plan to wipe out an entire race. There was fifteen men that attended the
Wannsee conference most of which were highly ranked Nazi officials and others were crucial
government leaders in Germany that helped the Nazi s complete their plan. Among the agencies
represented were the Department of Justice, the Foreign Ministry, the Gestapo, the SS, the Race and
Resettlement Office, and the office in charge of distributing Jewish property. Also at the meeting was
a representative of the General Government, the Polish occupation administration, whose territory
included more than 2 million Jews. The head of Heydrich s office for Jewish affairs, Adolf Eichmann,
prepared the conference notes. (Michael Berenbaum). All the men at the conference knew that their
cooperation was essential for the plan to run smoothly. For all the men at the conference more than
half of them received doctorate degrees from universities in Germany. The Nazi s didn t need to do
much convincing of the non Nazi government leaders of letting them move the Jews east and putting
them into concentration camps they knew that was going to happen. They also understood what the
final solution was, but in the Wannsee Protocol it never said that they planned on extermination. The
first gas chambers were built in Poland just months

The Impact Of European Economies On The European Economy
To address the question as to how financially interlinked is Europe is to ask the extent to which what
happens in one European country has a financial effect on another European country. Through this
essay GDP will be used as the primary measure of the strength of an economy. Some may argue that
this is not the sole measure: there are many other factors, which come into the strength of an economy
such as unemployment, government spending and consumption. Furthermore the statistics
surrounding GDP may themselves be inaccurate and hold distortions since it doesn t take into account
distribution of income and hidden economies such as the black market. However, it is easiest to look
primarily at GDP and seek to examine the extent to which European economies GDP move in harness.
This essay will also look at the reasons behind similarities and differences in individual European
GDP movements and the efforts of European authorities to encourage Europe to be more financially
interlinked.
It s broadly assumed that the European economies tends to move in the same direction, be that due to
being geographically or politically linked. Commentators tend to comment on Europe, US and Asia as
major trading blocs with the assumption that Europe is interlinked. International companies will group
together the European results and see them as one when assessing a year s performance. While these
approaches may be being deployed for convenience, those adopting this technique generally move on

Jane Miller s Purpose For Running For The Election
To win any election, it is paramount to have selected some vital themes that addresses the needs of one
s demographic party. It has to be fully outlined in such a way that it ll present and outline Jane Miller s
purpose for running for the election. There are several political topics in Texas as of today but some
important and strong ones include: More government regulation of immigration laws, Taxes and
abortion. Jane needs to prioritize this issues and present them in a clear and concise way to make a
clear conservative Republican stand point. Accurately planning a strategic foresight to enhance the
voting outcomes of regions and populations will demonstrate positive outcomes for this candidate.
For immigration, she would likely propose ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Also being a pro active entrepreneur, Jane can practically show how small and large businesses can
thrive in a tax friendly environment, thereby winning the heart of conservative Texans. The campaign
theme will help paint Jane as a committed conservative Republican, which is out to reduce
government spending. It could thus lead to a decrease in national debt.
Also proposing incentives for small businesses and reduced taxes for the rest of the population, she is
most likely to get the Republican votes. The fact that various regions of Texas have varied economic
status, the issue of taxation for the working class will need to be tailored for each affected region and
to be delivered with caution (Newell, Prinde, Riddleperger, 2013).
Abortion is a highly discussed issue nationwide, even among different ethnic groups as it tends to
affect all. The initial abortion bill indicates that medical providers to provide abortion only at the
facilities that are fully equipped to carry out the procedures. This is in fact protecting the right of the
Texans women and also reducing the numbers of abortion facilities that are all over the state. This in
part is also continuing in the culture that builds the foundations of the state of Texas. She could also
use the issue of abortion as an excellent entry point to discuss women and healthcare. This
controversial issue affects all Texans as a whole and therefore not

How Did James H. Doolittle Raid
America s First Raids The Doolittle Raids was the first attack on the Japanese inland for the USA
army. James H. Doolittle, also known as Jimmy, lead 16 B 25B Mitchell bombers to Tokyo, Japan.
This raid was called the Doolittle Raids. The information I would like to tell you about is: the reason
for the raids, the impact of the raids on the war, Mr. Doolittle s influence on the raids, and the
aftermath of the raids. James H. Doolittle was enlisted in the Army s Signal Corps Reserve on October
1917. He later received flight training on March 1918. James later became very well known because
of his great piloting skills and won several air racing trophies. On April 18, 1942, James led a raid on
Japan as the leader of the 79 man squadron (www.angelo.edu.) Five months after the humiliating
bombing of Pearl Harbor, USA had enough; we bombed Tokyo, Japan and killed 50 civilians and

Only 11 of the 80 pilots survived the raids. Unfortunately 12 of the planes crashed in China, three
crashed in the China Sea, Green Hornet, and one landed in the then Russian held Siberia
(www.angelo.edu.) Out of the 16 crews, only 13 survived together, only a fourth of the crews, lost just
one man. Unfortunately several were captured and killed by the Japanese in camps or by firing squads.
Although there was many casualties, Doolittle had survived a crash landing and is still alive today.
The Doolittle Raids was the first time American Armies had bombed, and raided, Japan s inland.
Those brave men that died and the ones that survived should ve been rewarded. Some did get
rewarded with the Medal of Honor. Doolittle was a brave person that led other brave men to Japan and
without them the war might ve had a different turnout. This research has taught me a lot about these
raids. I hope that you enjoy this paper, because it was very interesting researching

Managing Information Systems
The aim of this assignment is to see the requirements for developing and managing a comprehensive
Management Information system for an organisation. In today s business environment it is getting
harder and harder for organisation s to not only survive but to compete against other organisation s.
Information technology plays a big part in helping companies compete and survive. Companies that
have branches or franchises need to make sure that they can communicate with the head office so that
orders can be passed down. Most of a mangers time is spent
1 Passing information and ideas upwards to senior management to aid their decision making

Regular reports help managers perform their duties for example a summary report of sales figures of a
particular period in the year would allow managers to predict sales figures for the coming year and
plan ahead. This would not only help the manager of the store but it would also allow the person in
charge of purchasing stock, distribution, transportation, and finance to plan ahead of time as well. The
head of stock would have an idea of how much raw materials to buy, distribution manager would have
an idea of where to send it to the parts of the organisation which are most likely to utilise it the most.
Characteristics of Management Information System
1. Management Information Systems support structured and semi structured decisions at the
operational and management control levels.
2. They are generally reporting and control oriented. They are resigned to report on existing operations
and there fore provide day to0day control operations.
3. The systems also rely on existing corporate data and data flows.
4. However Management Information Systems have little analytical capability
5. On the other hand they generally aid in decision making using past and present data

Reflections on my Plant Engineering Summer Internship at United Parcel Service
Introduction
My Plant Engineering (PE) internship experience at United Parcel Service (UPS) allowed me to utilize
all that I have learned at Florida Polytechnic University and apply it to real world work experience.
Thus expanding upon my previous knowledge while simultaneously allowing me to grow in new ways
that cannot be taught in the classroom. Interning at UPS has helped highlight my fortes and flaws as
not only an engineering student, but also as a young adult entering the professional world. Through
firsthand daily coaching and mentoring from senior engineers, I discovered that communication is the
key to being successful as an individual and as a team. Encouraging social cognizance provides a
necessary balance within a company.
Getting the Job An INROADS alumni told me about an organization called INROADS and
encouraged me to go online and apply for their paid summer internship program. INROADS is a non
profit company that focuses on developing and placing talented underserved youth in business and
industry, and prepares them for corporate and community leadership (INROADS, 2011). The
organization is currently expanding their STEM program. So, my Florida Polytechnic education along
with their internship program was a great match. The program is highly selective with a rigorous
application process. Of more than 11,000 applicants just over 1,000 earn internships

What Are The Similarities Between The Odyssey And O...
The Odyssey and O Brother Where Art Thou are two separate works, with O Brother Where Art Thou
being based on The Odyssey . While both works have numerous similarities between them, The
Odyssey and O Brother Where Art Thou also share some differences. Even though O Brother Where
Art Thou is a movie, and The Odyssey is an epic by Homer, the film manages to include many
concepts of the tale, such as the many archetypes, battling monsters, and the arrival home.
In comparison to The Odyssey , the main characters of O Brother Where Art Thou meet many
archetypical characters, however with slight differences. For example, right at the beginning, Everett

sees his children singing at an event and joyously runs up to them, expecting to be missed, but all he
achieves out of them is the knowledge they strongly believe he got hit by a train as their mother told

The Life Of The Orca Whales
Free the Orcas!
Imagine being separated from your parents at a young age, taken only to spend the rest of your life in
a confined environment, forced against your natural living circumstances. This is the life of the Orca
whales (also known as Killer whales) at Sea World, an amusement park located in multiple places
around the nation. Sea World performs shows incorporating animals, such as seals and whales to do
tricks for amusement. However, recent research and media shows that Sea World lacks appropriate
care for the whales they hold captive. They also have been said to hunt for their whales, but hunting of
these animals threaten their growth, natural living conditions and their global population. One might
say that the park is like a prison to these creatures, however those in prison make the choice to be put
there. The whales are not allowed the freedom when held in captivity, so Sea World should be shut
down due to its responsibility for the life threatening circumstances of the Orca Whales.
Orcas are very intelligent beings that are known for their ability to learn. Besides pollution of the
ocean, commercial killing and other devastating factors of population decline, hunting for
entertainment plays a huge part in the death of orcas. According to WDC, a website dedicated to
whale and dolphin conservation, there are currently 56 whales held captive in eight different countries.
Since 1961, 150 orcas have been held captive. Now, only 23 of these whales are still alive.

Anti Depressants in Teens
Are anti depressants a medication or a mental steroid? (Kramer). For many years there has been an
ongoing talk about anti depressants. The big question is, are they really a cure for depression or just a
mental steroid. An anti depressant is a medication used to treat depression and other anxiety disorders.
When proscribed to children and teens there can be severe side effects such as an increased chance to
commit suicide or have suicidal thoughts or actions. This risk of suicide is higher for people under the
age of 25. (Mayo Clinic Staff). Teenage usage of anti depressants has been a controversial issue for
many decades.
Many people believe that anti depressants aren t a medication, but only create artificial happiness.
Teenage usage of anti depressants is so risky because it can increase the chance of suicide. Some more
side effects they can cause are anxiety, agitation, hostility, restlessness, or impulsive behavior. They
can also make symptoms of depression stronger after the medication wears off. Although there are
many side effects to anti depressants, doctor s still proscribe them to children who have depression
and anxiety disorders. Some popular anti depressants that doctors proscribe to adolescents are Prozac
and Zoloft. (Anti Depressants). Scientists and Doctors studies show that 4 percent of those taking
antidepressants had an increase in suicidal thoughts, compared with 2 percent of those taking sugar
pills. After seeing those studies, the FDA (Food

In Khaled Hosseini s A Thousand Splendid Suns, Henrik Isben s A Doll s House, and Kamala
Markandaya s Nectar in a Sieve, women face obstacles that disempower and silence them due to Men
s treatment of women, the societal view of women, and the objectification of women. Within the
literary works analyzed this semester, disempowerment is a persisting theme that roots from the
various obstacles and hardships women encounter. The woman s ability to overcome this
disempowerment is particularly challenging due to being oppressed by their peers, specifically men.
Women countlessly serve as victims of verbal and physical abuse under their husbands, thus
contributing to the idea of female inferiority. There are various stereotypical roles challenged between
men and women in society leading to discrimination of women. The preconceived notions of women s
roles in society arise from those within society. During this time era, most of society depicts women as
uneducated, essentially lacking economical and social opportunities, making the female population
highly vulnerable to all types of exploitation. Nonetheless, men in these literary works display
objectifying and degrading attitudes towards those of the female gender. The objectification of women
notably dehumanizes the female population. Within these literary works, the authors exemplify this
reality of obstacles that disempower and silence women. Though these women fight for their
liberation and equality, they are victims of

Essay on The Importance of Loss in Scott Fitzgerald s...
The Importance of Loss in Scott Fitzgerald s Winter Dreams
In the traditional Romance narrative, there is some desirable object whose consummation is the
driving preoccupation of the text s protagonist. The aspiration of the Romantic hero is to capture that
elusive object that will, nevertheless, consistently out strip him. These heroes are intimately
acquainted with the pain of the loss and suffer deeply for feeling so acutely. However, loss itself, is
essential to the equation and is, in fact, a large portion of what establishes the thing as desirable.
In the texts of traditional Romanticism the individual has preeminence, and his or her subjective
psychological experience with the loss in question is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Here we are operating in a decidedly liminal sphere. Fitzgerald masterfully weaves this intricate web
whose lines are taut with the tension of the forces between which it is extended. He is quoted as
having said of his celebrated The Great Gatsby (of which Winter Dreams is an early version): That s
the whole burden of the novel the loss of illusions that give such color to the world so that you don t
care whether things are true or false as long as they partake of the magical glory (Preface, Gatsby
XV). Referring back to the pivotal Realist question, Fitzgerald seems to be indicating that what is as
stake is the system that validates our notions of loss. The illusions that give such color to the world
have allowed us to passionately bemoan the loss of isolated actualized selves, but strip away the
illusion of the solipsistic being that is utterly impervious to social forces and one it left with nothing to
bemoan.
There is a passion in Winter Dreams protagonist Dexter Green that clings to the dream because The
thing was deep in him. He was too strong, too alive for it to die lightly (2136). And yet, of his love for
the alluringly elusive Judy Jones, we are told: It excited him that many men had loved her. It increased
her value in his eyes [my italics] (N 2131). In these two statements we see the narrator s stylistic shift
between an admiration

Analysis Of Helft Mir Ihr Schwestern
Helft mir, ihr Schwestern is song number five from Robert Schumann s song cycle Frauenliebe und
leben. The song cycle was set to the text of a poem cycle of the same name by Adelbert von
Chamisso. Each poem in the cycle provides a glimpse into the story of a woman falling in love with a
man, getting engaged and married to him, getting pregnant and having a child, becoming a widow and
finally sharing her life story with her granddaughter. At the time that Schumann wrote this song cycle,
he was going through a legal battle with his future wife s father over the right to marry her. This poem
cycle contains themes of love, devotion, and longing that Schumann could personally relate with his
feelings for Clara Wieck, who would soon become Clara Schumann. In this essay, I will demonstrate
how Frauenliebe und leben is directly reflective of Robert Schumann s own life experiences. In so
doing, I will be analyzing the ways in which Schumann set the music in a fashion that emphasized the
structure and emotional content of the poetry. In order to better understand the context of Robert
Schuman s setting of Helft mir, ihr Schwestern, I will first provide a general analysis of the song cycle
as a whole. As Schumann set music to the various poems, he shifted the tonality to closely related
keys, such as a fourth or fifth away, or shifting the relative or parallel major and minor keys. These
shifts in tonality help emphasis the emotional development of the main character of the poems. The
song cycle begins with a relatively slow and reflective song in the key of Bb major, where the main
subject of the poem cycle first describes her feelings of intense, blind love for a man. The next song
shifts the tonal center up a fourth to the key of Eb. In this song, the woman raises the man of her
affection up on a pedestal of high praise, while she demeans herself to a lowly maid. Song three,
moves the tonality to the relative minor of the previous song, C minor. This song is about the woman s
disbelief that the man she adored so highly has fallen in love with her, and Schumann reflects that
disbelief by making the music more erratic in tempo. He also emphasizes the disbelief by repeating
the complete last stanza and then the

something we do not see very often anymore. How often do you see a man opening the car door for

How Is Icarus And Daedalus
Charles Darwin introduced the theory survival of the fittest to illustrate the basic fact that the strongest
lives and the weakest dies. Survival of the fittest, or rather survival of the apathetic is most relevant in
Breughel s painting Landscape of the Fall of Icarus , the poem based on the painting that goes by the
same name written by William Carlos Williams, and W.H. Auden s Musee des Beaux Arts . These
three artists paintings are all connected by one central Greek myth, Icarus and Daedalus. The story is
about a father, Daedalus, and his son, Icarus, who are both trapped in an island with no way of escape.

the Earth, and the destruction from natural disasters is on the rise. There is a reason behind all of this
madness; this reason is global warming. Global warming is a problem that some people choose to
ignore. They claim it does not exist. Global warming is real. It is time for people to stop ignoring it
and start searching for a solution. Although many people do not believe in global warming, blaming
the climate change on the sun, global warming is a serious danger to the Earth because it could have
serious effects on the plant and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The melting ice cube symbolizes the melting of the ice caps, and as it melts there will be more water
in the glass, symbolizing the rise in sea level. This is an example of an elementary science experiment
that proves just how simple it is to understand the effects of global warming. The shift of plant and
animal ranges is caused by the changing climate. Places that had been too cold for certain plants and
animals are now warming up and may be warm enough to allow different plants and animals to live
there then had in the past. While other, already warm, places may become too hot for certain plants
and animals.
Carbon Dioxide is one of the key contributors to the concept of global warming, because it is so easily
released in our world today. Carbon dioxide comes from natural processes. It comes from burning
fossil fuels, volcanic eruptions and even a person s own breathing. This concentration of carbon
dioxide in the atmosphere is measured in parts per million. Before the Industrial Revolution, there was
around 280 parts per million of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. Now there are 395.93 parts per
million as of October 2014, according to CO2Now.org. This shows a dramatic increase, over one
third, in the atmospheric concentration of carbon dioxide and the number is still increasing. Scientists
have said that the damages will be irreparable if the concentration reaches 450 parts per

North Central Ohio Rehabilitation Center
Environmental Assessment North Central Ohio Rehabilitation Center initially was an addition for the
JDC next door. However, the State of Ohio started the RECLAIM act as a response to juvenile court
and Department of Youth correctional overcrowding (Ohio Department of Youth Services).
RECLAIM stands for reasonable and equitable community and local alternatives to the incarceration
of minors. This act was implemented in January of 1995 and there are currently only 12 community
facilities in the state of Ohio. NCORC opened its door as a community facility because of this act in
1996 (Wrentmore, 2015). Initially, NCORC housed boys and girls in the facility. However, later on it
was decided boys would be much easier to house. The mission statement at NCORC is to make a
positive and instrumental difference in the lives of youth by providing rehabilitative treatment to meet
their individual and collective needs to become productive law abiding citizens (North Central
Rehabilation Center). It has not changed at all it the last five years. The facility very much follows this
statement even when the boys are less than willing to try and make positive changes. NCORC is very
much a public agency since it is certified and funded by state programs. NCORC serves Marion,
Crawford, Hardin, Morrow, and Wyandot County. NCORC has a governing board with judges from
each of the counties; it meets every other month for discussion (North Central Rehabilation Center).

Inuit Culture Vs American Culture
There are many different cultures in different places. But the 2 specific ones we will be comparing
today is the Inuit and the American cultures. Most people would think there would be a certain culture
in America because most of the people don t really think about what culture we are but we actually do
have a culture in some aspects of our lives. For example we the Americans speak many different
languages we speak spanish, english, chinese just about everything we will take anyone regardless of
what language they speak. The inuits on the other hand their language is very different they speak
Inuktitut which is only one. Here in america like I said we speak multiple. Another thing that is

American Born Chinese Themes
American Born Chinese by Gene Luen Yang is a graphic novel broken up into three individual stories
but all tie together at the end. It discusses race, puberty, friendship and tradition all while exploring the
identity of growing up a minority. Through the struggles portrayed in beautiful images that, while
detailed, maintain their simplicity. This book reminded me of Scott Pligrim Versus the World by Brian
Lee O Malley with it s art style and pacing. This book evoked several reactions in me, both confused
and pained. A common theme through each story is being called names. The Monkey King is so hurt
by the Gods excluding him and calling him a monkey (even though he is one) that he rebrands himself

Libertarianism Vs Classical Liberalism
Classical Liberalism is an ideology with its focus on individual liberty with a limited government. The
belief that an individual should have the freedom to pursue and be responsible for their own life. It
stems from an idea that humans, as a whole, are generally good in nature, and that people should have
rights apart from the government. These rights include the right to pursue happiness, the right to
financial success, or even failure, and the right to free speech and freedom of religion. Individuals
have equal opportunities in life, but not equal materialistic beginnings or gains. You had the right to
own land, but it was up to the individual to obtain it. Classical Libertarians thought the role of
government should be very limited, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The basic concept that the individual has the right to liberty is still there. However the role of
government has changed. The modern Liberal feels that the purpose of government not only to protect
individual rights, but to also provide social welfare, benefiting society as a whole, (Downes,
yaliberty.org). This would include things like financial assistance, universal health care, and free and
equal education. Also todays Libertarian party supports the government enforcing more rules and
regulations to big corporations. The political platform of todays Liberal can seem misleading to some.
One example of this is individual abortion rights. Modern Libertarianism supports the right of the
individual to be able to make their own decision to have an abortion, the government should not have
a say in the matter. This shows support for the classical belief that government should not play a big
part in an individuals life. However, by contrast, todays Liberal political platform also feels that the
government should not perform executions even for convicted serial killers, (Goodman ncpa.org).
This directly goes against the classical view that the governments role is to protect the individuals

These nets are illegal but still used quite often. A drift net is towed behind the boat and captures
anything that swims or floats into it. This often results in by catch, which is the unintentional capture
of certain species, such as bottlenose dolphins (Dolphin p. 2). Another damaging technique used is
long line fishing. Hundreds...of baited hooks can hang on one line. Bait can be squid, fish... The lines
can be set with anchors or left drifting with the current for 12 to 24 hours (Long Line para. 1). These
long lines are harmful to many different animals. Birds are often found on the lines, having drowned
while trying to eat the bait. Loggerhead turtles, which are endangered, are found also. Sharks are the
most common casualty of long lining. (Long Line para. 2). These are just a few of the consequences of
common fishing techniques. This Reduced Catch plan should have the ability to strike a balance
between the environmentalists and fisherman. Commercial fisherman will be able to keep fishing but
will have to reduce the size of their catches. Surely, they will not agree with the reduction in their
catch size but they cannot argue the necessity of replenishing the fish populations. It is summed up
best by marine biologist Sylvia Earle: ...what is not realized is that when the fish have gone, the way

Disadvantages Of Eye Surgery
There are many individuals who suffer from eye conditions that force them to wear contact lenses and
glasses as means of correcting their vision. In such cases, the problem is usually with the shape of the
lens in the eye, and the used of an extra lens makes it much easier for people to focus.
However, there are other technologies that can be used for the same conditions. For instance, the use
of the latest eye surgery technology can help you achieve much better results as compared to using the
special lenses mentioned above. The only thing that deters many people from using laser is the fact
that most of them think that it is a very expensive procedure, and that it may involve a lot of pain.
However, the latest eye surgery technology is not associated with such things, nowadays this
procedure has become more popular making it affordable to patients at lower prices. ... Show more

In laser correction eye surgery, the eye specialist or surgeon reshapes the cornea in our eyes. This
surgery helps patients suffering from myopia (nearsightedness), hyperopia (farsightedness) and
astigmatism. If you are suffering from eye or vision problems, then you should immediately consult an

The Dataset Diabetes Details From Efron Et Al

Introduction
This report will cover the dataset diabetes details from Efron et al.(2003). Throughout this report, we
will explore the potential relationship between the ten predictor variables: age, sex, BMI, average
blood pressure, and six blood serum measurements (tc, ldl, hdl, tch, ltg, glu) on a quantitative measure
of disease progression one year after the baseline. There are 442 diabetes patients, or records in the
dataset. In this report, we will explore different methods and cross validation techniques to understand
these sample datasets leveraging linear regression, ridge regression, lasso method and metrics like our
MSE, the mean prediction error and standard errors of the test dataset. First, we will ... Show more

With the positive coefficients, we will see an increase in one unit of each variable separately compared
with the advancement in diabetes. With a 0.05 parameter, the linear regression model selects 5
predictor variables with significance, age, tc, ldl, tch, and glu. To validate the assumption, we can plot
the residuals versus the fitted values to see if there are any indications of signs of random
distributions. For the residual plot, we see there are no indications or violations of random distribution
and can calculate the MSE of the model, which is 3111.265. Next, we will leverage the best subset
method to select the predictor variables that are truly impactful to the model.
Best Subset Model
With our best subset method, we can leverage our lowest BIC metric to select the best model. We can
plot out best subset method and pinpoint the number of variables to select. The plot below showcases
that the lowest point or value of BIC, contains 6 variables. We leverage the BIC metric because it
places a penalty on models with more or many variables. Meaning, the mode variable a model has, the
bigger the penalty. We can review the coefficients, standard errors, t value, and the p values for the
best subset method with the significant six variables. Our MSE metric for the 6 variable best subset
model is 3090.483, a slight decrease from our linear regression model.

Pierre Trudeau Research Paper
Pierre Trudeau, lawyer, politician, and the 15th Prime Minister of Canada, was a big part of keeping
national unity during the Quebec sovereignty movement and referendum in 1980. He was also a big
part in keeping the Canadian public calm, taking action and standing up to the FLQ during the
October Crisis in 1970.
Born in Outremont, Montreal on October 18, 1919, Pierre Elliott Trudeau (full name Joseph Philippe
Pierre Yves Elliott Trudeau) was born to a wealthy family, along with one brother and one sister

The theoretical framework I develop rests on the assumption that individuals are rational actors
insofar as they calculate and act to maximize their expected utilities. An illustration of this assumption
is found when the expected utility of continuing a war is outweighed by the expected utility of war
termination. When the expected costs of continuing a war exceed the expected benefits, the relevant
actors will begin to press for peace. I further assume that leaders act to maximize their chances of
retaining office and that they are accountable to a domestic audience. The composition and
preferences of this domestic audience varies systematically across regime type, as does their ability to
credibly deter the leader. This has important ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The volume and intensity of conflict drive the rate at which these costs accrue. They may vary
intermittently in a smoldering dispute or accumulate more quickly in open conflict. Regardless of this
rate, I assume the longer a war continues, the more costs will mount, and the more likely that one side
will begin to press for a settlement. While some will oppose or support a conflict regardless of the
human or economic cost, most determine their support by paying particular attention to these wartime
losses. Both a leader and their domestic audience will calculate their expected utilities and update their
expectations by observing these outcomes. More important to consider is the point at which the
anticipated benefits of continued conflict is outweighed by the anticipated costs of terminating conflict
for a leader s domestic audience.
Remembering that a leader acts to maximize their chances of retaining office and that they are
ultimately held accountable to a domestic audience, the demands of a domestic audience unsatisfied
with the costs of war is important to consider in the ability of states to wage extended wars. This cost
sensitivity argument has typically underpinned empirical observations on the tendency of democracies
to fight uniformly shorter wars. Autocratic leaders, it was argued, do not labor under such restraints

The Importance Of Human Rights
Human Rights
Making a fearless advance in children s rights, Mother Jones led a valiant march to defend human
rights, because of her love of children, and Cesar Chavez and Aminatou Haidar stood up for causes
that they experienced themselves. Cesar Chavez created the UFW to improve the lives of migrant farm
workers, and Aminatou Haidar staged a series of nonviolent protests to encourage the independence of
Western Sahara. Mother Jones enacted change when she drew national attention to the harsh working
conditions of children working in textile and mill factories. This is supported when Josephson states,
They would march the mill children all the way to the president of the United States Theodore
Roosevelt. Mother Jones wanted the president to get Congress to pass a law that would take children
out of the mills, mines, and factories, and put them in school. This shows Mother Jones s
determination to change society and improve human rights. She faced many challenges, such as the
disapproval of her belief and speeches. Also during her march, many people gave up and went home,
so her crowd looked weaker. She also faced the rejection of her proposed law that would stop children
from working in dangerous places at young ages by the president. Secret service officers thought she
was a threat to the president (Josephson). Even though she faced rejection, she still made an impact on
children s rights and she helped shape the world for how it is today. It is important to defend

Frances Ha, released in 2012, is a film primarily focused on a young quirky white girl named Frances

Civil Disobedience Positive For Society

peacefully or nonviolently breaking a law that is viewed as unjust or unfair. In some people s eyes,
civil disobedience is a positive for society, but in other people s eyes it is negative. In my eyes, civil
disobedience is a positive for society for many reasons. Civil disobedience is positive because it can
bring a problem, that some people may view as unimportant, to the eyes of others. Over the past few
years, many young African American Men have been shot by police. The loved ones of these men
have practiced civil disobedience to show disapproval for the injustice the police have done to their

  • 3. The Impact Of European Economies On The European Economy To address the question as to how financially interlinked is Europe is to ask the extent to which what happens in one European country has a financial effect on another European country. Through this essay GDP will be used as the primary measure of the strength of an economy. Some may argue that this is not the sole measure: there are many other factors, which come into the strength of an economy such as unemployment, government spending and consumption. Furthermore the statistics surrounding GDP may themselves be inaccurate and hold distortions since it doesn t take into account distribution of income and hidden economies such as the black market. However, it is easiest to look primarily at GDP and seek to examine the extent to which European economies GDP move in harness. This essay will also look at the reasons behind similarities and differences in individual European GDP movements and the efforts of European authorities to encourage Europe to be more financially interlinked. It s broadly assumed that the European economies tends to move in the same direction, be that due to being geographically or politically linked. Commentators tend to comment on Europe, US and Asia as major trading blocs with the assumption that Europe is interlinked. International companies will group together the European results and see them as one when assessing a year s performance. Imagine being separated from your parents at a young age, taken only to spend the rest of your life in a confined environment, forced against your natural living circumstances. This is the life of the Orca whales (also known as Killer whales) at Sea World, an amusement park located in multiple places around the nation. Sea World performs shows incorporating animals, such as seals and whales to do tricks for amusement. However, recent research and media shows that Sea World lacks appropriate care for the whales they hold captive. They also have been said to hunt for their whales, but hunting of these animals threaten their growth, natural living conditions and their global population. One might say that the park is like a prison to these creatures, however those in prison make the choice to be put there. The whales are not allowed the freedom when held in captivity, so Sea World should be shut down due to its responsibility for the life threatening circumstances of the Orca Whales. Orcas are very intelligent beings that are known for their ability to learn. Besides pollution of the ocean, commercial killing and other devastating factors of population decline, hunting for entertainment plays a huge part in the death of orcas. The big question is, are they really a cure for depression or just a mental steroid. An anti depressant is a medication used to treat depression and other anxiety disorders. When proscribed to children and teens there can be severe side effects such as an increased chance to commit suicide or have suicidal thoughts or actions. This risk of suicide is higher for people under the age of 25. (Mayo Clinic Staff). Teenage usage of anti depressants has been a controversial issue for many decades. In Khaled Hosseini s A Thousand Splendid Suns, Henrik Isben s A Doll s House, and Kamala Markandaya s Nectar in a Sieve, women face obstacles that disempower and silence them due to Men s treatment of women, the societal view of women, and the objectification of women. Within the literary works analyzed this semester, disempowerment is a persisting theme that roots from the various obstacles and hardships women encounter. The woman s ability to overcome this disempowerment is particularly challenging due to being oppressed by their peers, specifically men. Women countlessly serve as victims of verbal and physical abuse under their husbands, thus contributing to the idea of female inferiority. There are various stereotypical roles challenged between men and women in society leading to discrimination of women. The preconceived notions of women s roles in society arise from those within society. During this time era, most of society depicts women as uneducated, essentially lacking economical and social opportunities, making the female population highly vulnerable to all types of exploitation. Nonetheless, men in these literary works display objectifying and degrading attitudes towards those of the female gender. The objectification of women notably dehumanizes the female population. The Importance of Loss in Scott Fitzgerald s Winter Dreams In the traditional Romance narrative, there is some desirable object whose consummation is the driving preoccupation of the text s protagonist. The aspiration of the Romantic hero is to capture that elusive object that will, nevertheless, consistently out strip him. These heroes are intimately acquainted with the pain of the loss and suffer deeply for feeling so acutely. However, loss itself, is essential to the equation and is, in fact, a large portion of what establishes the thing as desirable. Here we are operating in a decidedly liminal sphere. Fitzgerald masterfully weaves this intricate web whose lines are taut with the tension of the forces between which it is extended. He is quoted as having said of his celebrated The Great Gatsby (of which Winter Dreams is an early version): That s the whole burden of the novel the loss of illusions that give such color to the world so that you don t care whether things are true or false as long as they partake of the magical glory (Preface, Gatsby XV). Referring back to the pivotal Realist question, Fitzgerald seems to be indicating that what is as stake is the system that validates our notions of loss. The illusions that give such color to the world have allowed us to passionately bemoan the loss of isolated actualized selves, but strip away the illusion of the solipsistic being that is utterly impervious to social forces and one it left with nothing to bemoan. • 15. Analysis Of Helft Mir Ihr Schwestern Helft mir, ihr Schwestern is song number five from Robert Schumann s song cycle Frauenliebe und leben. The song cycle was set to the text of a poem cycle of the same name by Adelbert von Chamisso. Each poem in the cycle provides a glimpse into the story of a woman falling in love with a man, getting engaged and married to him, getting pregnant and having a child, becoming a widow and finally sharing her life story with her granddaughter. At the time that Schumann wrote this song cycle, he was going through a legal battle with his future wife s father over the right to marry her. This poem cycle contains themes of love, devotion, and longing that Schumann could personally relate with his feelings for Clara Wieck, who would soon become Clara Schumann. In this essay, I will demonstrate how Frauenliebe und leben is directly reflective of Robert Schumann s own life experiences. In so doing, I will be analyzing the ways in which Schumann set the music in a fashion that emphasized the structure and emotional content of the poetry. In order to better understand the context of Robert Schuman s setting of Helft mir, ihr Schwestern, I will first provide a general analysis of the song cycle as a whole. As Schumann set music to the various poems, he shifted the tonality to closely related keys, such as a fourth or fifth away, or shifting the relative or parallel major and minor keys. These shifts in tonality help emphasis the emotional development of the main character of the poems. The song cycle begins with a relatively slow and reflective song in the key of Bb major, where the main subject of the poem cycle first describes her feelings of intense, blind love for a man. The next song shifts the tonal center up a fourth to the key of Eb. In this song, the woman raises the man of her affection up on a pedestal of high praise, while she demeans herself to a lowly maid. Song three, moves the tonality to the relative minor of the previous song, C minor. This song is about the woman s disbelief that the man she adored so highly has fallen in love with her, and Schumann reflects that disbelief by making the music more erratic in tempo. He also emphasizes the disbelief by repeating the complete last stanza and then the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 25. Libertarianism Vs Classical Liberalism Classical Liberalism is an ideology with its focus on individual liberty with a limited government. The belief that an individual should have the freedom to pursue and be responsible for their own life. It stems from an idea that humans, as a whole, are generally good in nature, and that people should have rights apart from the government. These rights include the right to pursue happiness, the right to financial success, or even failure, and the right to free speech and freedom of religion. Individuals have equal opportunities in life, but not equal materialistic beginnings or gains. You had the right to own land, but it was up to the individual to obtain it. Classical Libertarians thought the role of government should be very limited, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The basic concept that the individual has the right to liberty is still there. However the role of government has changed. The modern Liberal feels that the purpose of government not only to protect individual rights, but to also provide social welfare, benefiting society as a whole, (Downes, yaliberty.org). This would include things like financial assistance, universal health care, and free and equal education. Also todays Libertarian party supports the government enforcing more rules and regulations to big corporations. The political platform of todays Liberal can seem misleading to some. One example of this is individual abortion rights. Modern Libertarianism supports the right of the individual to be able to make their own decision to have an abortion, the government should not have a say in the matter. This shows support for the classical belief that government should not play a big part in an individuals life. However, by contrast, todays Liberal political platform also feels that the government should not perform executions even for convicted serial killers, (Goodman ncpa.org). This directly goes against the classical view that the governments role is to protect the individuals ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This often results in by catch, which is the unintentional capture of certain species, such as bottlenose dolphins (Dolphin p. 2). Another damaging technique used is long line fishing. Hundreds...of baited hooks can hang on one line. Bait can be squid, fish... The lines can be set with anchors or left drifting with the current for 12 to 24 hours (Long Line para. 1). These long lines are harmful to many different animals. Birds are often found on the lines, having drowned while trying to eat the bait. Loggerhead turtles, which are endangered, are found also. Sharks are the most common casualty of long lining. (Long Line para. 2). These are just a few of the consequences of common fishing techniques. To validate the assumption, we can plot the residuals versus the fitted values to see if there are any indications of signs of random distributions. For the residual plot, we see there are no indications or violations of random distribution and can calculate the MSE of the model, which is 3111.265. The theoretical framework I develop rests on the assumption that individuals are rational actors insofar as they calculate and act to maximize their expected utilities. An illustration of this assumption is found when the expected utility of continuing a war is outweighed by the expected utility of war termination. When the expected costs of continuing a war exceed the expected benefits, the relevant actors will begin to press for peace. I further assume that leaders act to maximize their chances of retaining office and that they are accountable to a domestic audience. The composition and preferences of this domestic audience varies systematically across regime type, as does their ability to credibly deter the leader. This has important ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The volume and intensity of conflict drive the rate at which these costs accrue. They may vary intermittently in a smoldering dispute or accumulate more quickly in open conflict. Regardless of this rate, I assume the longer a war continues, the more costs will mount, and the more likely that one side will begin to press for a settlement. While some will oppose or support a conflict regardless of the human or economic cost, most determine their support by paying particular attention to these wartime losses. Both a leader and their domestic audience will calculate their expected utilities and update their expectations by observing these outcomes. More important to consider is the point at which the anticipated benefits of continued conflict is outweighed by the anticipated costs of terminating conflict for a leader s domestic audience. Remembering that a leader acts to maximize their chances of retaining office and that they are ultimately held accountable to a domestic audience, the demands of a domestic audience unsatisfied with the costs of war is important to consider in the ability of states to wage extended wars. This cost sensitivity argument has typically underpinned empirical observations on the tendency of democracies to fight uniformly shorter wars.
