Emotional Abuse In Australia
Emotional abuse is when a caregiver fails to support a child and supply them with the security and
love they need. Emotional abuse also establishes whether the child s relationship with the caregiver
and the environment they are in is troubled, intimidating or whether they cannot support the child s
healthy development. There are currently 16,093 children in Australia s society today that are
emotionally abused by caregivers and adults.
11,194 children and neglected and are negligently treated in their homes in today s society. Neglect
and negligent treatment is when a child is dispossessed of essential needs like nutrition, love, clothing,
shelter, warmth, security, medical and dental care, protection, education and supervision.

The Child Protection Legislation Amendment Bill 2013 was approved on 4 April 2014. This
legislation supplies an earlier intervention which keeps families together with support. It also enables
courts to possess new powers to order parents to undertake treatment or attend services to deal with
the issues putting their children at risk. These laws establish that the Department of Family and
Community Services must contemplate adoption for children where the court has commanded that the
child cannot return to its parents or family until the age of 18 which bestows an option for permanency
and stability where foster care too often cannot. The new laws are created to give vulnerable children
the best possible chance of a safe and stable home for

Mp Case Study
By 2004, it was clear that Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) were lethal and the weapon of choice
for insurgents engaged in irregular warfare in Iraq. Commanders faced a struggle regarding how best
to protect their troops from the evolving IED threat and the resulting catastrophic injuries and fatalities
they produced. Standard thin skin HMMWVs did not provide ample protection, nor did up armored
HMMWVs. Route clearance and explosive ordnance disposal vehicles, known as the Mine Resistant
Ambush Protected (MRAP), gained a reputation among field commanders for being survivable
vehicles. Thus began the debate as to whether to continue using up armored HMMWVs, push for
MRAPs, or hold out for a future vehicle that met the requirements for ... Show more content on

Commanders requested safer vehicles suited for irregular warfare tactics, and received up armored
HMMWVs and add on armor kits, which did not provide sufficient protection in an irregular warfare
environment. Further, the services were slow to respond to Combatant Commanders requests for
MRAPs because their priority was to develop the JLTV, fueled by the assertion that MRAPs would be
obsolete beyond the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. This speaks to the tendency of the services to invest
in future capabilities, while failing to provide Combatant Commanders with a method to develop or
procure equipment necessary to fight present wars. The Joint Requirements Oversight Council (JROC)
oversees JCIDS and is often misaligned because it often defers to the services. Neither the Army nor
the Marines wanted to invest in MRAPs, so neither did the JROC . As a result, the requirement for
MRAPs was slow to validate and once valid remained an unfunded requirement until political
pressure and public opinion forced the Pentagon to reevaluate fielding MRAPs in large numbers.
The MRAP acquisition program employed a tailorable approach, whereas the traditional approach is
linear and rigid. This tailorable approach compressed the traditional process by permitting some
decision points and milestone processes to run in parallel with others, and to receive waivers for other
milestones, such as the technical assessment. This was due to the MRAP program already meeting
three of the criteria

Juvenile Delinquency
16 March 2015
Juvenile Charged with Murder of Two Month Old Infant An eleven year old African American
juvenile girl was charged with murder in the state of Ohio for killing a two month old baby girl, Zuri
Whitehead. The mothers were friends who had met while working at a medical clinic at Cleveland s
Cuyahoga County jail, and the defendants mother had previously taken care of Whitehead s other two
children without problem or concern. As stated by the article, the baby was staying overnight at the
eleven year old girl s request (name not given due to the age of defendant). At about 9:30pm that
night, the juvenile s mother had called, saying that she was close by and had wanted to take care of
Zuri for the night. At around 3am that morning, the mother had fallen asleep on the couch only to be
awoken by her daughter holding the badly injured baby and saying that something was wrong. She
had taken the baby upstairs, and when the eleven year old girl had come back downstairs, Zuri was
found bleeding and her head was badly swollen. The older girl s mother panicked and called 911.
Shortly thereafter, Zuri was flown to a children s trauma unit in Cleveland where she died during
surgery for sever internal injuries. Police who are currently investigating this crime are saying that the
eleven year old will be undergoing a psychiatric evaluation. She will remain in custody of the Lake

Essay on Themes in Song Of Solomon
Toni Morrison is one of the most talented and successful African American authors of our time.
Famous for works such as The Bluest Eye, Sula, and Beloved, Morrison has cultivated large audiences
of all ethnicities and social classes with her creative style of writing. It is not Morrison s talent of
creating new stories that attracts her fans. In contrast, it is her talent of revising and modernizing
traditional Biblical and mythological stories that have been present in literature for centuries.
Morrison replaces the characters in these myths, whom would have been white, middle class males,
with characters who depict the cultural practices in black communities. The protagonists in Morrison s
works are primarily African American women ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He experiences the pain felt in Black communities after 14 year old Emmett Till, from Chicago,
Illinois, was murdered in Mississippi for whistling at a white woman and many other violent cases
after, including the bombing of a Black church in Alabama that killed four young girls. Toni Morrison
is an author that is interested in showing the world the constant struggle of African American men and
women. Like Milkman, Morrison was born in 1931 during the height of racism in the United States.
She has lived through the same events as Milkman and has experienced the pain and turmoil forced
upon African Americans. Like Milkman, Morrison was also unaware of the racial tension in the
country until she was a teenager. She graduated from high school with honors and attended Howard
University as an English major. This explains Morrison s interest in the theme of Flight in her works.
She has been determined to be successful since she was a child, despite the racism and poverty she
had experienced. Morrison is a strong, independent, successful, and talented woman. She focuses on
the theme of feminism in her works to show both men and women of all races and ethnicities that
women can be just as powerful as men. She has integrated pieces of her life into the novel, almost
creating a mini biography. Constant themes occurring in Toni Morrison s Song Of Solomon are
Marxism, Feminism, and flight. Marxism is a major theme in Toni Morrison s Song Of Solomon.

The Steam Engine ( Steam Power )
The Steam Engine
The industrial revolution was a period in history that brought about numerous mechanical advances
that allowed the use of much less manual labor. One of those mechanical advances was steam power.
Steam power was not a new concept to the people of the world; in fact, steam power dates all the way
back to Alexander the Great in the first century, where he designed a steam powered spinning sphere
called an Aeolipile. (5 par 25) However, in the late 18th and early 19th centuries they sought out to
perfect the use of steam in everyday life. The ultimate goal was to use steam power so the public could
rely less on manual labor and let the machines do the work for them. Steam power was greatly utilized
in everyday life in order to ease the workload for the workers. Thomas Savery was the first person to
design an engine from steam that would later be changed and improved by James Watt for better
efficiency. The steam engine was changed greatly for a higher speed engine that was installed in
locomotives and boats pioneered by Richard Trevithick. The mining process was changed greatly with
the introduction of steam power and the steam engine.
Steam engines were greatly utilized in mining. The first steam engine produced by Thomas Savery
called The Miner s Friend; was used to pump water from the depths of the mine to the surface of the
land. The Miner s Friend used the steam pressure to force the water from the mine up and discharge it
on land. However, his invention

Evaluation Of A Performance Assessment
Evaluation of a Performance Assessment: edTPA James (Monty) Burger Texas A M University
Evaluation of a Performance Assessment: edTPA Teacher effectiveness is of the utmost importance to
ensure student success. However a valid and reliable performance assessment to evaluate teacher
effectiveness has historically remained elusive. Recognizing this need, Stanford University developed
the edTPA (formerly Teacher Performance Assessment) to specifically measure teacher
readiness/effectiveness. The edTPA began field testing in 2009, and has been administered
operationally since 2013. The focus of the edTPA is to assess an authentic cycle of teaching which is
comprised of three tasks. These tasks include ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According to the 2014 edTPAAdministrative Report some random sampling was done for scorer
reliability with very positive results. Out of 1,808 portfolios (which were double scored
independently) the scorers assigned either the same or adjacent scores with total agreement in nearly
all cases (93.3%). While that speaks well for the scorer reliability, as far as appropriate sampling for
validation and norming the edTPA appears to fall short. There are several mentions of small sample
sizes and differences in group sizes preventing any strong generalizations or conclusions. Some
sample sizes are as large as several thousand while others fewer than 10, creating the opportunity for
instability. Reliability The next condition that should be closely reviewed when evaluating a
performance assessment is reliability (Rudner, 1994). As discussed above the inter rater reliability for
the edTPA seems to be very reliable. Ten percent of portfolios are randomly double scored to examine
scorer rates, and the results provide evidence of high total agreement. According to the 2014 edTPA
Administrative Report the overall reliability coefficient across all fields was 0.923, indicating a high
level of consistency across the rubrics, establishing that the rubrics as a group are successfully
measuring a common construct of teacher readiness. There was some concern with reliability

Contemporary British Novel
JOHN SELF:EPITOME OF AN ERA
1. INTRODUCTION
Money:A suicide note is the dark novel by Martin Amis that depicts the degredation of society, its
morals and values ,in the eighties. It is set in 1981 and includes notable events such as the Royal
Wedding of Charles and Diana and the riots in England. Amis gives us a repulsive and materialistic
view of New York and London in the late 20th century, corrupted by pornography, self promotion,
junk food, alcohol, television and most importantly Money.
The protagonist of this novel is John Self, a self admitted loser who smokes and drinks too much, with

a place where he can get anything his heart desires. We get the feeling that Self enjoys being in the
States more than in England. In comparison, Britain seems smaller, not as advanced, but it is starting

Fed Up Argument
Fed Up: It s Not You, It s Them Come on! It s simple, just get up off your butt and stop eating so darn
much, a common phrase used when with addressing modern obesity. Yet, this fairly recent epidemic
continues to plague and destroy around 93 million Americans (The Issue). Although, with Michael
Obama s Let s Move Campaign making a head wave, the hope for a healthy tomorrow has been
restored in the hearts of many Americans. Along those same lines it seems that these days you cannot
turn on the TV or Radio without seeing an ad for this Gym or that weight lost supplement. Such items
and services also suggest that we as individuals can exercise and never worry about the big, bad
condition known as obesity. With all these resources, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
No one who watched Fed Up can forget their comparison to the smoking companies. One
heartbreaking scene, the film depicts side by side, one ad for cigarettes and the other for sugary cereal.
In both cases, these ads had one goal to make money, despite the risk. Comparing the two companies
not only pushes the idea food industry, much like the smoking industry knows the risk these ads have
on children. Yet, no matter the cost these companies push their products just to make a quick buck.
Senator Tom Harkin best exhibits this point when stating, I just wanna say don t you have any shame
at all? Isn t there something inside of you that says... you know what we are doing is not right? They
have to know...just like the tobacco companies . Needless to say, such a statement had to be a hard

Confirmatory Factor Analysis Paper
In order to examine the first research question, which focuses on whether the two sets of
environmental behaviors are essentially the same or not they are systematically analyzed using
confirmatory factor analysis. The foundation of this analysis relies on the fact that environmental
behavior may take many forms and that those who are concerned about the environment may engage
in some behaviors more so than other forms. This possible difference in engagement may be due to
opportunity structures that help or hinder the feasibility of engaging. For example, if one does not
have access to a curbside recycling program, it would follow that the likelihood of engaging in this
specific behavior would be lower than someone who did. This is just one ... Show more content on

Tucker Lewis Index, the Comparative Fit Index, the Standardized Root Mean Squared Residual, Root
Mean Squared Error of Approximation, and the Co efficient of Determination, which are all obtained
via the ESTAT command. Each of these measures has their own criterion that demonstrates good
model fit. I used these in order to determine which model fit the best when the modification indices
above provided several possible final steps in creating the best overall fitting model. What I mean by
this is that in some cases, the modification indices had two suggested paths to add and regardless of
which one was added the model would fit the same, or nearly the same hundredths of a point
difference in Chi Square value. Thus, I added each path in separate models, and utilized the above fit
statistics to assess which path offered the best fitting model. In most, if not all, cases these measures
were near identical. Thus, the final model and path selection relied on which path had the greatest
substantive meaning to the analysis, while not compromising overall model fit. The analysis went
through this process for each year and each latent construct

What is the specific market failure justification for government spending on
(a) public universities
The justification for government spending on public universities is to promote the competition for
higher skilled jobs. In a free market, most people wouldn t be able to afford the training and education
required for higher skilled jobs, and more companies would seek to outsource the low skill jobs. This
causes a surge in unemployment and a growing wage gap, so the government must step in and provide

final and most controversial pricing structure is Uber s use of dynamic pricing for high volume days
such as New Year s or Halloween and also during inclement weather conditions. Uber notifies
customers of the increased pricing structure when ordering a car in an effort to reduce demand, but
because fares are computed after the service is complete, this pricing structure has become very
controversial. Technology Technology can be divided into two components, the app technology for
consumers and the demand calculation technology at the firm. The app technology is available for
iPhone/Android devices and uses GPS from the requested pickup destination to display a map of all
available Uber cars in the area. Uber calculates the nearest driver and plots your pickup time

Endodontitis
The main goal of endodontic treatment is to prevent or heal apical periodontitis. The cleaning and
shaping procedures are adversely affected by the highly variable root canal anatomy. The presence of
additional canals needs to be detected in to avoid incomplete instrumentation and preservation of
bacteria and their toxins, which can compromise the outcome of the root canal treatment. Therefore,
the knowledge of the internal anatomy of teeth is a prerequisite for successful endodontic therapy(1).
The morphology of the root canal systems of mandibular molars may vary according to ethnic
differences and origin, age, gender, and study design(2). The roots and morphology of mandibular
molars present clinical complications that affect the success of endodontic therapy. Therefore,
clinicians must be able to identify the root canal structure before or during a root canal treatment(3).
The mesial root of mandibular molars often shows complex anatomy(4). Few clinical studies have
investigated the incidence of middle mesial canals in mandibular molars(5). Pomeranz et al
(6)classified the middle mesial canal into three possible canal configurations: fin, confluent, or
independent. Failure to locate, cleanse, and shape these RCSs may result in persistent apical
periodontitis(7).

Women And Gender Roles
Woman s theology ties greatly with gender roles. Women are expected to have certain duties and roles,
and these common presumptions make it hard for women to thrive. Gender roles is the root to woman
s theology. Gender roles is how society expect men and women to act, speak, dress, and conduct
themselves. For example, women are expected to be housewives, the nurturer of the children, and
oblige to their men. Besides being submissive to their husbands, women are also expected to dress in
feminine clothing and have class. Men on the other hand, are generally expected to be strong
providers, and the protectors of the family; wearing masculine clothing.
Generalized gender roles are created through gender stereotypes. These stereotypes can be considered
erroneous ideas of the male and female attributes. In other words, roles are based off the individual s
desires, beliefs, feelings, and knowledge; therefore, attributes may vary for everyone. In addition,
while some don t condone nor believe in gender roles, others are guilty of presuming them to be true.
For instance, some people truly believe that all women should want to be married and have children,
and that all men should be the source of protection and affluence. In addition, women are also
expected to be emotional, while men are usually expected to be aggressive. Women are expected to
cook for the family and clean the home. while men are expected to make sure everything in the home
is repaired.
In society, there may be

Worldwide stock markets have subsided, financial institutions have dropped and governments in even

A decrease in world GDP occurred in many countries, specifically in developing countries. Imports
have also declined significantly in importing countries. This was obvious in countries such as China,
Taiwan, Mexico, Egypt and Russia. it was stated that GDP fell to 3.8% in the U.S. The impact of
recession on employment may not be felt for some time. Investigation in Britain shows that low
skilled, low educated workers and the immature are in a weak position to unemployment in a
downturn. It took Britain five years for unemployment to go back to its initial levels. From 2000 to
2003, the Federal Reserve lowered their target rates. They then raised the funds rate significantly
between July 2004 and July 2006. This added to an increase in number of years to the adjustable rate
mortgage rates and made it more expensive for homeowners. As a result, this may have also
contributed to the deflating of the housing bubble. Gross Domestic Product declined at an in the last
two years in the United States. When GDP collapses, economic growth will also plunge. This is as a
result of fewer goods being manufactured and therefore the rate of exports will reduce. It is said that
when exports decrease, it will not have sufficient funds to accommodate any growth in the economy
what so ever. As a result in the decline in GDP, employment rate will sooner or later begin to drop. As
a result of the credit crunch, consumers have less purchasing power therefore

It is not known how life came to be on the earth, but it is proven that it has evolved over time, and life
is unified by a common ancestor. In the 1920s, a hypothesis was created by scientists Alexander
Oparin and J.B.S. Haldane, that predicted that the first life forms were formed in an acidic primordial
sea. Oparin believed that a string of of chemical reactions within an aquatic environment had led to
the formation of coacervates. Coacervates are aggregates of organic polymers that have life like
characteristics, but are not alive. When Oparin created coacervates, he used a couple different
solutions of macromolecules to form these aggregates, and he discovered that the coacervates had a
selectively permeable membrane. It is thought that coacervates may have been one of the first pieces
in the origin of life on Earth. This lab uses a carbohydrate, gum arabic, and a protein, gelatin to create
coacervates. As we carry out the procedures to create the coacervates, we will observe how
coacervates are formed and what characteristics they share with life. Through doing this, we will gain
better understanding of the Oparin Haldane hypothesis and the possible explanation of how life was
formed on Earth. ( Carolina™

The Success Of E Business
Despite the dot.com collapse, there remains a strong belief that e business with its resurgent potential
for creating new transactional opportunities between firms, suppliers, complementary product/service

established firms. A number of impressive examples come to mind: Tesco in the UK, Otto Versand in
Germany, and Dell Computers and Cisco Systems in the US.1 For organizations such as these, e

Both questions are of practical importance because they tap into the organizational reasoning that
takes place to explicate and justify e business applications. Unraveling this reasoning is also of
theoretical importance to the information technology (IT) literature in that it underlies the extent to
which organizational success is determined by strategy content and/or process.3 Although intuitively
linked to one another, the content and process perspectives have evolved independently (see
Rajagopalan and Spreitzer (1996) for an extensive review). For example, a large body of content
research shows that various structural considerations influence performance. These antecedents are
both external and internal to the firm. The former is defined by economic, technological, political and
competitive forces (Pettigrew, 1992) and the later by core competencies (Hamel and Prahalad, 1994)
and dynamic capabilities (Teece et al., 1997). Both the external and internal schools of thought have
been used to explain variation in IT related performance (e.g., Porter, 2001; Wade and Holland, 2004).
The process school of thought is concerned with those activities leading to and supporting a choice of
strategy (Huff and Reger, 1987) and its implementation (Thompson and Strickland, 2001). Explaining
how strategy should be executed is the role of process research. This approach seeks the richness of a

Marcel Duchamp Fresh Widow Essay
Marcel Duchamp s Fresh Widow was created in 1920, and is on display at the Museum of Modern Art
(MoMA). Fresh Widow is a bluish green miniature French window, which he constructed with wood

dadaism in that it is a stand alone object, that has been completely stripped of its utility and function.
In addition, across the window sill, Duchamp wrote COPYRIGHT in capitalized black letters referring
to the classic dadaist rejection of the commodification or reproduction of art. Duchamp created the

most of Europe, with millions of men being killed. The timing of Duchamp s Fresh Widow, the title,

emotional and deadened vision widows had after the war when their wounds were ripe and unable to
be restrained. The widow is much like Duchamp s window impenetrable and unreadable. The viewer
cannot see the vision of the widow because the widow herself cannot she her own vision. Much like
the inability of the viewer to look through the glass, the widow cannot look to somewhere else, to a
different place. The viewer is left with an intimate bond with the widow, experiencing her inability to
create a vision but is also left at a distance from the widow because of the viewer s inability to read

OOHE Sedation and Drug Administration 90
Chemical sedation may be the only initial treatment option, until patient agitation is controlled (1 5,8).
When considering sedation for ExDS benzodiazepine are recommended as initial treatment, followed
by ketamine and antipsychotic administration (4,8,26). Midazolam and ketamine are the sedation
intervention in the OOHE with future practice possibly including droperidal administration (21,27 28).
Haloperidol is utilised as the antipsychotic in the OOHE (29). Any patient considered for sedation in
the OOHE must have a SAT score _ 2 and must be highly monitored for any changes post
administration (23,25). All sedation interventions have associated advantages and disadvantages.

LEGAL AND ETHICAL ISSUES PERTAINING TO THE CARE OF PATIENTS WITH ExDS 264
Physical restraint and sedation is often paramount to allow emergency personal to provide treatment
and intervention associated with positive patient outcomes (1,5,7 9 11). Often the severe measures
needed to restrain and control ExDS patients are perceived in a negative way in the public eye. The
management of ExDS patients in sedation causes controversy when observed by bystanders that do
not understand the importance of sedation. (1,7,9 11). A legal and ethical dilemma for emergency
personal can result.
A dilemma occurs when another perceived coarse of action is observed (39,40). In the case of ExDS,
emergency personal have determined that in order to apply appropriate treatment, the safest course of
action for ExDS patients is sedation

ABSTRACT
Nowadays, renewable energy resources play an important role in replacing conventional fossil fuel
energy resources. Photovoltaic energy is one of the very promising renewable energy resources which
grew rapidly in the past few years. Photovoltaics has one major problem and which is that with the
variation of the operating conditions of the array, the voltage at which maximum power can be
obtained from it also changes. In the thesis, a PV model is used to simulate actual PV arrays behavior,
and then a Maximum Power Point tracking method and wind energy system using Feed Forward
Neural networks is proposed in order to control the power. Further more, the proposed feed forward
neural network technique using hybrid system is compared with the ANFIS(adaptive neuro fuzzy
interference system). Simulation results shows that the proposed feed forward neural network
maximum power point tracking method gives faster response than the ANFIS

Abstract The main objective of this experiment was to study the effects of ethanol has on a cell
membrane. A beetroot was cut into pieces and put into tubes filled with 10,20 and 30% concentrations
of ethanol. They were left submerged for one hour. At the end point time the solution were transferred
into different test tube to be first analyzed for relative concentration of pigment by comparing it with
different test tubes and later for statistical analysis by using a spectrophotometer. The result showed
that the ethanol does play a role in pigment release and higher the concentration of ethanol more
pigment is released.as the spectrophotometer findings proved it as the mean absorbance of 10,20 and

Examples Of Absolute Certainty
Developing an absolute sense of certainty can be good, but it can also be bad. There have been some
instances where people who had absolute certainty met their downfall. Having some doubt is good. If
you have doubt on a an assignment, you can go back and revise it. In a way it s like a stop sign. Doubt
allows you to stop and analyze before going. Although being absolutely certain is good, it can make
you over look mistakes, get your hopes up, and speculation occurs. There have been many instances
where mistakes were overlooked because of absolute certainty. For example, the RMS Titanic. At the
time it was the largest ship in the world and unsinkable. An absolute masterpiece and everyone
thought it was indestructible. Engineers were positive that there wasn t a single thing wrong with her.
Until it and thousands of passengers met their demise once the ship hit an iceberg. Had the engineers
and other workers triple checked the shop, the sinking may not have happened. It currently lays at the
bottom of the Atlantic wishing people took the initiative to give her a proper inspection. This may
have been an over exaggerated example, but they put a hundred percent of their trust into to that ship.

Growth Of The Asset Management Industry
In the present epoch s market driven yet economically fragile world corporations and companies of all
extents and hues have multifaceted stakes to take care of while focusing on their core objectives.
Billions are spent by them every year to acquire, sustain, maintain, operate and later decommission
assets not only physical but also non physical assets. So asset management remains at the core of the
mission of many corporations whose top management keeps its focus on the acquisition of profitable
assets and for the optimally safe yet promising use of investments. The asset management industry has
seen a boom also due to the increasingly unpredictable economic conditions of the world so in order to
remain ahead of, or at least at par with their competitors, all businesses or corporations need to ensure
maximum possible returns on their assets. It is projected that by 2020 the asset management industry
would have $100 trillion global investable funds and would register an annual growth rate of as high
as 6% (PwC, 2014). This positive projection of growth of the asset management industry is due also to
the inroads of technology in the domain of asset management industry as to many other new factors or
game changers such as transformation of fee models, growing preeminence of asset management
functions, changing shares of the regional and global asset management firms, and an ever growing
demand for cost effective services. Ever since technology started spreading its tentacles

Flashing Lights, Hugs From Strangers, Pounding Of Tables,
Flashing lights, hugs from strangers, pounding of tables, and more await those coming into the Deaf
Cultural world. After all, how does one communicate with another who cannot hear? From the
perspective of one who grew up in the hearing world, these cultural norms were anything but normal;
yet they have become ingrained, almost second nature. Now these are my norms and are part of my
world. My journey into Deaf culture started in elementary school while riding the school bus. A friend
of mine named Francis allowed me into her world of American Sign Language by teaching me the
manual alphabet and some basic conversational sign language, such as roller skates and how are you?

Some options include: flashing the lights briefly, stomping on the floor, or simply walking across the
room to grab their attention. Another important cultural tidbit, eye contact is incredibly important. To
an outsider it can be a bit unnerving, it almost feels like they are staring you down; however, direct
eye contact is expected when someone is communicating with you, as this shows that you are fully
engaged in the conversation. Breaking eye contact while in a conversation is akin to interrupting and
stating that their conversation is not worth your time.
Living isolated by a majority of those who live around you, simply because of the mode of
communication, can be very difficult. A majority of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing community in the
United States communicate with a three dimensional language known as American Sign Language, or
ASL. ASL is a unique language that differs greatly from English. Not only does ASL differ from
English linguistically, it also differs in modality. Instead of articulating phonemes with one s mouth,
teeth, tongue, and throat, one articulates ASL with one s hands, fingers, face, and surrounding space.
As such, an individual whose primary language is ASL may struggle reading and writing in English,
especially in complex situations such as a doctor s appointment. Also, the Deaf community shares a
unique lexicon used to identify various individuals with whom they come in contact.

Moving your Body to Maximize the Loss
My FOE philosophy stands for Feet on Elliptical, it is a mindset that incorporates a plan, or regime,
that trains and tones the body by accelerating fat loss and increasing the metabolic rate. You re not
losing weight by taking days off from your routine, your heart isn t taking a day off. Taking a day off
at this stage is giving Bobby Fatz an excuse to creep in and pollute the mind, or cast doubt on your

Elliptical Workout Results Bobby stepped on the elliptical machine and began to move his feet in the

hanging on to the stationary bar. Bobby chose to not use the moveable hand rails and he slowly

a few items to maximize your time on the machine. He looked over with a blank look on his face,
How did I mess up already? In his best discouraged tone. You didn t mess up but you can get more out

Pros And Cons Of Flexible Spending Account

Introduction
Companies across the nation have been faced with an increase in the cost of employee health
insurance. Over the past five years health care costs have risen by 54% (Thorpe). The decision to be
made now is how to handle these increases in the most convenient way. Flexible spending accounts
(FSA) and healthcare savings accounts (HAS) have become the main focus of this discussion. Many
believe the unrestricted FSA still remains the most helpful account while others prefer the newly
developed, user owned, HAS.
To identify which account is truly superior, Administrative Consultants has researched the pros and
cons of each system. The results presented can be utilized in order ... Show more content on

For example, the same benefits of pretax allocation are common. However unlike FSA, the money
deposited into the account can also gain interest which is very valuable to users. Also, because you
manage the money independently, you can search for better prices or physicians that you prefer
without it being cleared by your employer. The most favored aspect of healthcare savings accounts is
that the money invested rolls over into the next year in full amount.
The characteristics of these accounts that are uncomplimentary include the responsibility, the high
deductible, and penalties that may occur. Many users are not comfortable being accountable to set
aside enough money each year to be sufficient. Also, if you have enough set aside but need that money
for other purposes, not related to health, there are consequences and fines that you may face. The most
feared attribute of a healthcare saving account however is the high deductible rate that it entails. This
deductible is $1300 for an individual and $2600 for a household coverage. ( The Pros and Cons of

The Portrait Of Anne Montgomery
Currently located in the Palace of the Legion of Honor, Sir Joshua Reynolds s painting named Anne,
Viscountess Townshend was painted in 1780 in England. Anne Montgomery, which is the subject of
the painting, married the 1st Marquess Townshend on 1773 and died on 1819. Sir Joshua Reynolds is
one of most influential painters in the 18th century and he mainly specialized in portraits. Reynolds
endorsed a style in painting called Grand Style which is mainly about the idealization of the imperfect
(Wikipedia). In this painting, Reynolds uses a very simple and common background. The purpose of
this is simply to highlight the main subject of the portrait. This portrait of Anne Montgomery by Sir
Joshua Reynolds appears very large in size ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Even if the painting shows many textures, Reynolds didn t use any other tools such as palette knife
aside from painting brush to create the intended textures.
In this portrait, the opaque colors are used well to highlight the main subject of it. Anne is dressed in a
white dress that appears to be greyish or creamy because Reynolds added some shadows to it in order
to show the creases and folds on her dress. The artist uses this technique in order to show clarities on
the lady s standing position. It is very effective because when you look at it, you can immediately
notice that she is standing on her left leg while her right leg is relaxed. The folds on her sleeve also
help give an accurate appearance on how her elbow is bent while having it relaxed on her left leg.
There is an additional item behind her, which is a red long velvet piece of cloth that could be her coat.
Aside from the type of clothing she has, the color red, white, and gold signifies her feminine side and
her high status in the society. Also, she has an aqua green piece of cloth that has gold tassel at the end
tied around her hip. Compare to the rich and lively colors used on the main subject of the portrait, the
background and the other figures on the painting appears to be gloomy. The sculpted ermine cloak is
projected with shadows making it appear dark which is the same as the trees that looks almost black in
color instead of green. The trees only show a bit the green color.

The assignment I chose to revise, is our first assignment of the semester. The audience analysis
assignment. I chose this one because I had the hardest time with it. It also had the most grammatical
and technical errors so I decided to go back and revise so I can get a better understanding of what I did

understanding of the essay. Because, I did not use heading I need to be to appropriately use the

Compare And Contrast The Devil Wears Prada Book And Movie
The job a million girls would die for: Novel vs. Movie
In 2006, David Frankel made a movie version of The Devil Wears Prada by Lauren Weisberger. The
book and the movie are both set in New York and tell the story of a girl named Andy. In both versions
Andy starts working for Miranda Priestly, editor in chief of Runway, a fashion magazine. Generally
the film version of The Devil Wears Prada, what kind of experiences Andy passes through is similar to
what Andy experiences in Weisberger s novel. However, the movie is different form the book because
some characters have a different appeal and image, Andy s love life might end up positive, and it ends
in a different way.
One difference is the appeal and image of the characters. For example, in the book Andy has blond
hair and lives with her boyfriend named Alex Fineman. Later in the story, Alex breaks up with Andy.
In contrast, Andy has brown hair in the movie. Also the boyfriend s name is Nate Cooper, instead of

other every week for dinner. Also yellow cabs, nice looking people from New York are well

Another similarity, the main storyline, is that Andy gets to work for Runway in which Miranda
Priestly is editor in chief. Andy got accepted due to an interview which was different form all other
girls. Miranda gives it a shot. In both versions Miranda was in the beginning very dissatisfied about
Andy. There is also a similarity in Miranda s way of communication. She refuses to share elevators

KINGDOM: Animalia

FAMILY: Alligatoridae
GENUS: Alligator
SPECIES: Mississippiensis
One of the largest reptiles in the United States is the American Alligator. This alligator can grow up to
12 feet in length and weigh as much as 1 ton. Male alligators are commonly larger than female
alligators. Both males and females have a thick armored body with embedded thick scales or bony
plates called osteoderms, or scutes. They have four short, but muscular legs and a long, round snout.
Its eyes are situated on the top of its head. The alligator can swim with just the top of their head when
it is in the water. This is a tactic that they do that will help them sneak up to their prey. When they dip
their heads under water, its nostrils and ears close and a membrane shields its eyes. The American
Alligator can grow up to 2,000 to 3,000 teeth in its mouth during its lifetime. Once their teeth wear
down, new ones replace them. American Alligators can be found in the coastal wetlands of the United
States southeast, ranging as far north as North Carolina and as far west as eastern Texas. In addition,
their range extends down to southern Florida where the Everglades are situated. These alligators are
commonly found in slow moving freshwater rivers, however, they inhabit swamps, marshes, and lakes

Advantages Of Golden Agri
State of the art technology system helps Golden Agri to safeguard its operational excellence
As we enter the board room of Golden Agri Resources ( GAR ) in Singapore, the world s second
largest palm oil plantation company, a huge 10m x 3m (check) screen displaying a satellite map of
Indonesia greets us.
With 500,000 hectares (six times the size of Singapore) of oil palm plantations spread across
Indonesia s archipelago, it takes a large amount of travel time to visit all locations. Hence why Golden
Agri s Chairman, Franky Widjaja, early on recognised that investing in technology would be essential
to help manage the company s vast palm oil operations. Designed 15 years ago and taking 10 years to
develop, GAR today utilises a state of the art proprietary information technology system. With one
click, management can ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Pushing frontiers of innovation
Its research institute, known as SMART Research Institute (SMARTRI), plays an essential role in
sustaining GAR s high productivity. SMARTRI continues to push the frontiers of innovation of
enhancing productivity.
For example, its hybrid seeds produce 20% more in yield than conventional seeds. Together with
CIRAD , a renowned French research institute, GAR has developed a fertiliser s programme to
optimise the use of fertilisers using leaf sampling analysing the condition of each plantation. GAR
also employs an advanced GPS guided aerial manuring spraying to apply fertilisers, reducing costs
compared to manual application. Furthermore, the institute has an extensive oil palm breeding
programme in place, complementing the traditional improvement of crops with new biotechnological
techniques, enabling important genetic enhancements of the plant.
All in all, GAR epitomises innovation at the

This legislation supplies an earlier intervention which keeps families together with support. These laws establish that the Department of Family and Community Services must contemplate adoption for children where the court has commanded that the child cannot return to its parents or family until the age of 18 which bestows an option for permanency and stability where foster care too often cannot. • 3. Mp Case Study By 2004, it was clear that Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) were lethal and the weapon of choice for insurgents engaged in irregular warfare in Iraq. Commanders faced a struggle regarding how best to protect their troops from the evolving IED threat and the resulting catastrophic injuries and fatalities they produced. Standard thin skin HMMWVs did not provide ample protection, nor did up armored HMMWVs. Route clearance and explosive ordnance disposal vehicles, known as the Mine Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP), gained a reputation among field commanders for being survivable vehicles. Thus began the debate as to whether to continue using up armored HMMWVs, push for MRAPs, or hold out for a future vehicle that met the requirements for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Commanders requested safer vehicles suited for irregular warfare tactics, and received up armored HMMWVs and add on armor kits, which did not provide sufficient protection in an irregular warfare environment. Further, the services were slow to respond to Combatant Commanders requests for MRAPs because their priority was to develop the JLTV, fueled by the assertion that MRAPs would be obsolete beyond the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. This speaks to the tendency of the services to invest in future capabilities, while failing to provide Combatant Commanders with a method to develop or procure equipment necessary to fight present wars. The Joint Requirements Oversight Council (JROC) oversees JCIDS and is often misaligned because it often defers to the services. Neither the Army nor the Marines wanted to invest in MRAPs, so neither did the JROC . As a result, the requirement for MRAPs was slow to validate and once valid remained an unfunded requirement until political pressure and public opinion forced the Pentagon to reevaluate fielding MRAPs in large numbers. The MRAP acquisition program employed a tailorable approach, whereas the traditional approach is linear and rigid. This tailorable approach compressed the traditional process by permitting some decision points and milestone processes to run in parallel with others, and to receive waivers for other milestones, such as the technical assessment. This was due to the MRAP program already meeting three of the criteria ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

She had taken the baby upstairs, and when the eleven year old girl had come back downstairs, Zuri was found bleeding and her head was badly swollen. The older girl s mother panicked and called 911. • 5. Essay on Themes in Song Of Solomon Toni Morrison is one of the most talented and successful African American authors of our time. Famous for works such as The Bluest Eye, Sula, and Beloved, Morrison has cultivated large audiences of all ethnicities and social classes with her creative style of writing. It is not Morrison s talent of creating new stories that attracts her fans. In contrast, it is her talent of revising and modernizing traditional Biblical and mythological stories that have been present in literature for centuries. Morrison replaces the characters in these myths, whom would have been white, middle class males, with characters who depict the cultural practices in black communities. The protagonists in Morrison s works are primarily African American women ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He experiences the pain felt in Black communities after 14 year old Emmett Till, from Chicago, Illinois, was murdered in Mississippi for whistling at a white woman and many other violent cases after, including the bombing of a Black church in Alabama that killed four young girls. Toni Morrison is an author that is interested in showing the world the constant struggle of African American men and women. Like Milkman, Morrison was born in 1931 during the height of racism in the United States. She has lived through the same events as Milkman and has experienced the pain and turmoil forced upon African Americans. Like Milkman, Morrison was also unaware of the racial tension in the country until she was a teenager. She graduated from high school with honors and attended Howard University as an English major. This explains Morrison s interest in the theme of Flight in her works. She has been determined to be successful since she was a child, despite the racism and poverty she had experienced. Morrison is a strong, independent, successful, and talented woman. She focuses on the theme of feminism in her works to show both men and women of all races and ethnicities that women can be just as powerful as men. She has integrated pieces of her life into the novel, almost creating a mini biography. Constant themes occurring in Toni Morrison s Song Of Solomon are Marxism, Feminism, and flight. • 6. The Steam Engine ( Steam Power ) The Steam Engine The industrial revolution was a period in history that brought about numerous mechanical advances that allowed the use of much less manual labor. One of those mechanical advances was steam power. Steam power was not a new concept to the people of the world; in fact, steam power dates all the way back to Alexander the Great in the first century, where he designed a steam powered spinning sphere called an Aeolipile. (5 par 25) However, in the late 18th and early 19th centuries they sought out to perfect the use of steam in everyday life. The ultimate goal was to use steam power so the public could rely less on manual labor and let the machines do the work for them. Steam power was greatly utilized in everyday life in order to ease the workload for the workers. Thomas Savery was the first person to design an engine from steam that would later be changed and improved by James Watt for better efficiency. The steam engine was changed greatly for a higher speed engine that was installed in locomotives and boats pioneered by Richard Trevithick. The mining process was changed greatly with the introduction of steam power and the steam engine. Steam engines were greatly utilized in mining. The first steam engine produced by Thomas Savery called The Miner s Friend; was used to pump water from the depths of the mine to the surface of the land. The Miner s Friend used the steam pressure to force the water from the mine up and discharge it on land. However, his invention ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Evaluation Of A Performance Assessment Evaluation of a Performance Assessment: edTPA James (Monty) Burger Texas A M University Evaluation of a Performance Assessment: edTPA Teacher effectiveness is of the utmost importance to ensure student success. However a valid and reliable performance assessment to evaluate teacher effectiveness has historically remained elusive. Recognizing this need, Stanford University developed the edTPA (formerly Teacher Performance Assessment) to specifically measure teacher readiness/effectiveness. The edTPA began field testing in 2009, and has been administered operationally since 2013. The focus of the edTPA is to assess an authentic cycle of teaching which is comprised of three tasks. These tasks include ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... According to the 2014 edTPAAdministrative Report some random sampling was done for scorer reliability with very positive results. Out of 1,808 portfolios (which were double scored independently) the scorers assigned either the same or adjacent scores with total agreement in nearly all cases (93.3%). While that speaks well for the scorer reliability, as far as appropriate sampling for validation and norming the edTPA appears to fall short. There are several mentions of small sample sizes and differences in group sizes preventing any strong generalizations or conclusions. Some sample sizes are as large as several thousand while others fewer than 10, creating the opportunity for instability. Reliability The next condition that should be closely reviewed when evaluating a performance assessment is reliability (Rudner, 1994). As discussed above the inter rater reliability for the edTPA seems to be very reliable. Ten percent of portfolios are randomly double scored to examine scorer rates, and the results provide evidence of high total agreement. According to the 2014 edTPA Administrative Report the overall reliability coefficient across all fields was 0.923, indicating a high level of consistency across the rubrics, establishing that the rubrics as a group are successfully measuring a common construct of teacher readiness. There was some concern with reliability specifically surrounding the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Yet, this fairly recent epidemic continues to plague and destroy around 93 million Americans (The Issue). Although, with Michael Obama s Let s Move Campaign making a head wave, the hope for a healthy tomorrow has been restored in the hearts of many Americans. Along those same lines it seems that these days you cannot turn on the TV or Radio without seeing an ad for this Gym or that weight lost supplement. Yet, no matter the cost these companies push their products just to make a quick buck. Senator Tom Harkin best exhibits this point when stating, I just wanna say don t you have any shame at all? Confirmatory Factor Analysis Paper In order to examine the first research question, which focuses on whether the two sets of environmental behaviors are essentially the same or not they are systematically analyzed using confirmatory factor analysis. The foundation of this analysis relies on the fact that environmental behavior may take many forms and that those who are concerned about the environment may engage in some behaviors more so than other forms. This possible difference in engagement may be due to opportunity structures that help or hinder the feasibility of engaging. For example, if one does not have access to a curbside recycling program, it would follow that the likelihood of engaging in this specific behavior would be lower than someone who did. Each of these measures has their own criterion that demonstrates good model fit. I used these in order to determine which model fit the best when the modification indices above provided several possible final steps in creating the best overall fitting model. What I mean by this is that in some cases, the modification indices had two suggested paths to add and regardless of which one was added the model would fit the same, or nearly the same hundredths of a point difference in Chi Square value. Thus, I added each path in separate models, and utilized the above fit statistics to assess which path offered the best fitting model. In most, if not all, cases these measures were near identical. Thus, the final model and path selection relied on which path had the greatest substantive meaning to the analysis, while not compromising overall model fit. The final and most controversial pricing structure is Uber s use of dynamic pricing for high volume days such as New Year s or Halloween and also during inclement weather conditions. Technology Technology can be divided into two components, the app technology for consumers and the demand calculation technology at the firm. The app technology is available for iPhone/Android devices and uses GPS from the requested pickup destination to display a map of all available Uber cars in the area. Uber calculates the nearest driver and plots your pickup time accordingly (see right). Each driver is also given an iPhone with an app to manage incoming customer requests. The cleaning and shaping procedures are adversely affected by the highly variable root canal anatomy. The presence of additional canals needs to be detected in to avoid incomplete instrumentation and preservation of bacteria and their toxins, which can compromise the outcome of the root canal treatment. Therefore, the knowledge of the internal anatomy of teeth is a prerequisite for successful endodontic therapy(1). The morphology of the root canal systems of mandibular molars may vary according to ethnic differences and origin, age, gender, and study design(2). The roots and morphology of mandibular molars present clinical complications that affect the success of endodontic therapy. Therefore, clinicians must be able to identify the root canal structure before or during a root canal treatment(3). The mesial root of mandibular molars often shows complex anatomy(4). Few clinical studies have investigated the incidence of middle mesial canals in mandibular molars(5). Pomeranz et al (6)classified the middle mesial canal into three possible canal configurations: fin, confluent, or independent. Gender roles is the root to woman s theology. Gender roles is how society expect men and women to act, speak, dress, and conduct themselves. For example, women are expected to be housewives, the nurturer of the children, and oblige to their men. Besides being submissive to their husbands, women are also expected to dress in feminine clothing and have class. Men on the other hand, are generally expected to be strong providers, and the protectors of the family; wearing masculine clothing. Generalized gender roles are created through gender stereotypes. These stereotypes can be considered erroneous ideas of the male and female attributes. In other words, roles are based off the individual s desires, beliefs, feelings, and knowledge; therefore, attributes may vary for everyone. In addition, while some don t condone nor believe in gender roles, others are guilty of presuming them to be true. For instance, some people truly believe that all women should want to be married and have children, and that all men should be the source of protection and affluence. In addition, women are also expected to be emotional, while men are usually expected to be aggressive. It is not known how life came to be on the earth, but it is proven that it has evolved over time, and life is unified by a common ancestor. In the 1920s, a hypothesis was created by scientists Alexander Oparin and J.B.S. Haldane, that predicted that the first life forms were formed in an acidic primordial sea. Oparin believed that a string of of chemical reactions within an aquatic environment had led to the formation of coacervates. Coacervates are aggregates of organic polymers that have life like characteristics, but are not alive. When Oparin created coacervates, he used a couple different solutions of macromolecules to form these aggregates, and he discovered that the coacervates had a selectively permeable membrane. It is thought that coacervates may have been one of the first pieces in the origin of life on Earth. This lab uses a carbohydrate, gum arabic, and a protein, gelatin to create coacervates. As we carry out the procedures to create the coacervates, we will observe how coacervates are formed and what characteristics they share with life. For example, a large body of content research shows that various structural considerations influence performance. These antecedents are both external and internal to the firm. The former is defined by economic, technological, political and competitive forces (Pettigrew, 1992) and the later by core competencies (Hamel and Prahalad, 1994) and dynamic capabilities (Teece et al., 1997). Both the external and internal schools of thought have been used to explain variation in IT related performance (e.g., Porter, 2001; Wade and Holland, 2004). Anne Montgomery, which is the subject of the painting, married the 1st Marquess Townshend on 1773 and died on 1819. Sir Joshua Reynolds is one of most influential painters in the 18th century and he mainly specialized in portraits. Reynolds endorsed a style in painting called Grand Style which is mainly about the idealization of the imperfect (Wikipedia). In this painting, Reynolds uses a very simple and common background. The purpose of this is simply to highlight the main subject of the portrait. This portrait of Anne Montgomery by Sir Joshua Reynolds appears very large in size ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Even if the painting shows many textures, Reynolds didn t use any other tools such as palette knife aside from painting brush to create the intended textures. In this portrait, the opaque colors are used well to highlight the main subject of it. Anne is dressed in a white dress that appears to be greyish or creamy because Reynolds added some shadows to it in order to show the creases and folds on her dress. The artist uses this technique in order to show clarities on the lady s standing position. It is very effective because when you look at it, you can immediately notice that she is standing on her left leg while her right leg is relaxed. The folds on her sleeve also help give an accurate appearance on how her elbow is bent while having it relaxed on her left leg. There is an additional item behind her, which is a red long velvet piece of cloth that could be her coat. Aside from the type of clothing she has, the color red, white, and gold signifies her feminine side and her high status in the society. Also, she has an aqua green piece of cloth that has gold tassel at the end tied around her hip. Compare to the rich and lively colors used on the main subject of the portrait, the background and the other figures on the painting appears to be gloomy. The sculpted ermine cloak is projected with shadows making it appear dark which is the same as the trees that looks almost black in color instead of green. The trees only show a bit the green color. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
