A Brief Note On The Assembly Operator
Chapter 15
15.4) Starving is defined as the situation where the assembly operator has finished the assigned work
on the give work unit time load but they didn t receive the next unit at the station. Workers are forced
to the situation of starving. Blocking is defined as the work completed at the assigned time limit but
cannot be passed to the downstream station because of the reason that the worker is not ready to
receive the unit. In that case, worker is blocked from working.
15.7) In production line terminology, line efficiency means when the time of downtime of the line is
averaged in, the proportion time limit on the production line. It is basically the ration of theoretical
cycle time to actual production time.
15.9) Service time Ts is defined as the actual amount of period available for work at the station to
complete the assigned task and the cycle time Tc is defined as the periodic time interval between the
arrival of work load at the station. The difference between the both is the repositioning time, Tr.
Mathematically it can be defined as the Ts= Tc Tr.
15.11) Precedence constraint is the restriction on the purchase where the work elements are
performed. There are few elements that must be completed before others. For instance, a threaded hole
must be drilled before it is tapped.
15.12) Balance efficiency is defined as the work content time limit is portioned into the total possible
service time limit on the specific line.

The Marketing Strategy Of Desnoes And Geddes
Marketing communications are intended to both inform and persuade a target audience, with a view to
influence the behaviour of that group. The behaviour of interest to organizations can range from
encouraging owners to adopt improved practices or to produce a particular product or service. As has
been said on other occasions, each element of the marketing mix must be designed so as to further the
overall marketing strategy, and this includes marketing communications.
Desnoes and Geddes Limited (D G) produces one of Jamaica s best known exports, Red Stripe beer.
They are proud of the fact that Red Stripe is Jamaica s coolest beer. It also brews other beverages for
the local market such as Red Stripe Light, Dragon Stout, Malta, Smirnoff Ice, Guinness, and Heineken
brand names. Only a small portion of D G s shares are publicly traded. British beverage group Diageo
PLC is the ultimate parent company. It has a 58 percent holding in D G through Udiam Holdings AB
of Sweden.

Bronchiectamin Case Study Examples
History of Present Illness: Ms. Mullaney is here for follow up of her bronchiectasis. Sputum culture
previously grew out multiple organisms to include microbacterium avium complex as well as
Acinetobacter and Enterobacter. I elected to treat her with a 10 day course of Levaquin. Today, she
states her shortness of breath and cough is significantly improved. She did see Peter J Sebeny, MD on
Oct 11th. His notes today however are not available for review. In speaking with her, however, I get
the impression that treatment for MAC is not clearly indicated at this point. She denies any fever or
chills. She does state that her appetite has returned. She has no other specific complaints at this time.
She notes that she barely used any of the Cheratussin that I prescribed for her for her use at night.

State Regulated or Federal Regulate Insurance
One of the most important economic issues in the insurance industry is the push for increased federal
regulation of insurance. According to the Washington Surveying Rating Bureau, Congress in 1945
stated that the regulation of the business of insurance would be best left to individual states. Since the
release of this statement, a common argument that state regulation is inefficient, costly, and
burdensome has been made. It is also argued that the 50 or so individual laws and jurisdictions
embody many rules and standards that are very difficult and timely as regulatory systems. These
systems have been described as very costly, and that they also deny customers the creativity of the free
market to quickly develop and market innovative insurance products. The common way to respond to
these issues in such a robust industry is typically by federal regulation. It is believed that having just
one regulator for the entire country will lead to more new products being introduced in the market
place and thus, increased competition which will be better financially for all consumers, carriers, and
agents. This logic is likely supported by the idea that it is easier to introduce a product if it is going to
only be approved by one insurance department rather than several dozens more. However, many other
factors come to play. It is important to realize that the purpose of insurance regulation is to provide
consumer protection. In RMI 3500, I have learned that there are insurance

Analysis of Randall Jarrell s The Death of the Ball...
Many of the great poems we read today were written in times of great distress. One of these writers
was Randall Jarrell. After being born on May 6, 1914, in Nashville Tennessee, Jarrell and his parents
moved to Los Angeles where his dad worked as a photographer. When Mr. and Mrs. Jarrell divorced,
Randall and his younger brother returned to Nashville to live with their mother. While in Nashville,
Randall attended Hume Frogg high school. Randall showed his love for the arts while in high school
by participating in dramatics and journalism. Jarrell continued his career in the arts when he wrote and
edited for Vanderbilt s humor magazine, The Vanderbilt Masquerader. After earning his graduate
degree at Vanderbilt, Jarrell accepted a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When Jarrell says the words, hunched in the belly, the reader gets a very uncomfortable feeling. In line
number three the reader gets visual imagery as well as slight tactile imagery. The visual imagery
comes when Jarrell says, Six miles from earth. The reader gets a clear image of something being very
high above the ground. When the author says, loosed from the dream of life, the reader gets a slight
feeling of death or a vision of someone dying. The fourth line, I woke to the black flak and the
nightmare fighters, brings the reader visual, auditory and tactile imagery. The reader can picture
someone waking up to shrapnel, from an exploding bomb, flying by their head. One can hear the
gunfire of the, nightmare fighters, along with the exploding shells. The reader also gets a tactile image
when the author says, I woke up, because everyone knows what it is like to wake up from a sleep. In
the fifth and final line the reader gets a very graphic visual image. The reader can picture someone s
body being so destroyed that instead of removing the body from the turret the soldiers must wash it
out with a hose. Jarrell also used a great deal of figurative language in this poem. The entire poem is
an extended metaphor. This poem compares the struggles of war with the struggles of being born.
More specifically, it compares being killed the belly of a plane and being killed in the womb of a
mother. We see

Cultural Encounter Ana Menendez Analysis
Cultural Encounter in Ana Menendez s In Cuba I Was a German Shepherd
People emigrate from one place to another for different reasons. Some people leave their homelands
by choice while others are forced to leave it due to different reasons. Some of these reasons are
political, where a person leave his country to find freedom in another. There is a lot of literature
written on this subject worldwide which tries to analyse and reflect upon the conditions of such
people, and how they are received in the new communities they emigrate to. The Cuban author and
novelist Ana Menendez is one of the writers who explored these ideas in her works. Her short stories
collection In Cuba I Was a German Shepherd reflects upon issues related to the Cuban community ...

Her parents came from Cuba to America as refugees in Los Angeles. Therefore, she has inherited the
Cuban Culture from her parents and live in a new culture. She found differences between both cultures
in different ways. These differences between cultures, which we highlight here, are not only about
ethnicity and race, they are also related to moral values, taste in arts, social customs and traditions, and
beliefs (Brown 97). The short story collection In Cuba I Was a German Shepherd tells stories of
Cuban people encountering the American culture. The short story that carries the same title of the
collection reflects the author s awareness of what happens when people are displaced and exiled to
another land. We may find biographical elements in the story since it has a similar setting and

Positive Role In Social Work
Social work is a practice based profession and academic discipline focusing on the principles of social
justice, human rights and equality and diversity (International Federation of Social Workers (IFSW),
2014). Furthermore, social work is a complex discipline which is underpinned by theories grounded in
social science, humanities and indigenous knowledge (IFSW, 2014). Social work has been embedded
into society as a fundamental aspect of planning person centred care for vulnerable groups (Dowling
et al, 2006). There are many schools of thought which attempt to define what constitutes a vulnerable
group within society. Richardson et al (2015) states that vulnerability arises within those individuals
who need support to address the challenges that affect their quality of life. Poverty, extremes of age,
disability, mental or physical health status and ethnicity all have the potential to contribute to
vulnerability and social exclusion of the group or individual (Joseph Rowntree Foundation, 2017). In
particular, the elderly and youths leaving care are recognised as having multiple needs and face
adversity integrating wholly into society. It is the role of the social worker to assess, plan, intervene,
implement and evaluate the care for these groups and individuals (Horner, 2009)).
Social workers play a vital role within society in supporting such people regardless of their
background. They are not only there to protect people from abuse but to also help enable individuals

Beowulf and Grendel
Beowulf is a classical epic poem which describes Beowulf s heroic deeds and his acts towards
bringing justice and peace to the Scandinavian society by eradicating Grendel. The original
manuscript (700 1000A.D.) and the modern film (2005) reveals significant differences between the
characters traits and descriptions, an important quotation, descriptions of places, motives, a character s
presence and events that have taken place. Thus, this modern adaptation, Beowulf and Grendel, of an
ancient text, Beowulf, is significantly flawed as any modern adaptation of an ancient text will be. In
the film, specific characters are portrayed differently as they are in the poem. A significant example of
this is from the character, Grendel. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, in the film, Hrothgar awakes in the morning and sees his soldiers slaughtered after a
night of Grendel s killings. He runs up to one of them and kneels beside them and begins to weep and
screams that he should be buried here with them because he cannot do anything to stop Grendel. Here,
Hrothgar is confused and does not know what to do to stop this troll . Even with the arrival of Beowulf
and his heroic stories and confidence to defeat Grendel, Hrothgar is still pictured as a depressed and
weak character. An example in the film that Hrothgar is still confused and depressed even after the
arrival of Beowulf is when Hrothgar and Beowulf argue on the upper floor of the mead hall after two
unsuccessful nights of trying to defeat Grendel. Hrothgar is agitated and impatient to the fact that
Beowulf has still not eliminated Grendel . This argument is an example that Hrothgar is still very
worried and depressed even with the arrival of a great hero, Beowulf. These examples show that King
Hrothgar in the film, is a character that has fell into a permanent depression and lacks courage,
confidence, and leadership qualities. These qualities greatly contrast with the qualities of Hrothgar in
the poem which symbolizes him as a great leader even through times of hardship. Beowulf is written
in the form of Old English and the film is recorded in a modern perspective and many of the poem s
words and quotations are not utilized to its full extent and context. A

Web Testing Essay
Web testing is a credible method to evaluate the best online promotional and marketing strategies for a
business. This tool can be used to test a wide range of criteria from website copy to sales emails to
search ads.
Well planned web testing produces concrete evidence of a well planned marketing strategy.
Continuously testing different hypotheses will not only yield good results for conversion rates, but
will also give us a better understanding of our customers.

to go about it. Web testing equals careful ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, Amazon boosted its profits by moving credit card offers from its home page to the
shopping cart page. Such examples that utilized web testing techniques clearly espouses the idea that
tiny changes could have a big impact. In a managerial level, experiments can help managers to
optimize investment based on the potential improvement suggested by these tests. For instance,
experiments in the Microsoft Company on its Bing search engine showed that every 100 millisecond
difference in performance had a 0.6% impact on revenue. With Bing s yearly revenue surpassing $3
billion, a 100 millisecond speedup is worth $18 million in annual incremental revenue. Results
advocate that investing on a project to improve the Bing s response time can generate billions of
dollars for the company. (Kohavi Thomke, 2017)
A/B testing is extremely goal oriented. Before launching an A/B test, we must first decide on the
outcome we hope to achieve. The goal might sound something like this:
Increase the number of free trial signups
More clicks on a paid advertisement
Increase open rates on a welcome email

Jacob Riis How the Other Half Lives Essay
Jacob Riis How the Other Half Lives In How the Other Half Lives, the author Jacob Riis sheds light
on the darker side of tenant housing and urban dwellers. He goes to several different parts of the city
of New York witnessing first hand the hardships that many immigrants faced when coming to
America. His journalism and photographs of the conditions of the tenant housing helped led the way
of reformation in the slums of New York. His research opened the eyes of many Americans to the
darker side of the nation s lower class. Though it seems that he blamed both the victims and the board
forces of society, I believe that he placed more of the blame on the board forces for the conditions that
many immigrants faced. In the first few ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Most contracts never mentioned the safety and comfort of tenants (p. 10). In addition, many of the
tenants were working and needed to be close to where they worked. The costs of living in these
tenement houses were ridiculously high for the condition and size of the rooms. Riis described how
some Italians were given board as long as the Italian made enough ash barrels to feed him, which
unfortunately caused many Italians to get use to free rent and thus many were driven to another dump.
Riis did not care much for the Italians, because of their lack of focus and life style. One of the well
known tenement housing the Bend was labeled as one of the bad tenement houses, and even the
optimists agreed. It was said that the more you had done the less it has seemed to accomplish in the
way of real relief (p 46). Also under the pressure of the growing Italian community, the standard of
breathing space required for an adult by the health officers was cut from six hundred to four hundred
cubic feet. With such increase in population in certain tenement housing the sanitary policeman would
locate the bulk of his four hundred, and the sanitary reformer gives up the task in despair (p. 55). I
personally think what he is saying is that the community and government waited too long to start
helping the lower class. That the problem of overcrowding and of health regulations had gotten too far
out of reach for us to help them. I had mentioned

My Life Changing Learning Experience
School has always come easy for me, and rarely am I ever challenged. I am currently a 4.0 student,
who has received A s their entire life, and I never had to work hard for a good grade. You can imagine
how surprised I was when I began this class because it pushed me like no other class has before. I
learned skills in this class that I will actually use in the future and real life. I have grown as a writer,
and a learner, like I never have before. Foundations of Writing is the hardest class I ve ever taken, but
it is by far my most life changing learning experience.
I had no doubt this class would be more challenging than any other english class I have taken, but the
structure helped tremendously. Before we learned a single thing in this class, we had to write two
essay. One was to see where we stood, in terms of our writing ability, and the other was our first
official paper. After we wrote the second essay, it was time to learn. We spent the next couple week
learning and practicing the skills required to write a good paper. After that we had the opportunity to
go back and fix our essay. This was so helpful for me, and it truly made the class much easier. I saw
how horrible my writing was, and I was able to fix what needed to be changed. If the class structure
was arranged in any other way, I would not have taken as much knowledge from it.
I have never in my life grown so greatly from a class and at the same time learned just as much. I am
certain that in the years to come,

Anal Fissure Research Paper
Most people initially become aware they have a tear in the skin around their anus because of the
stinging and burning that occurs when they use the bathroom. These tears are known as anal fissures.
In addition to the pain, sufferers may also notice a small amount of bleeding while using the
bathroom. If this happens to you, you may be aware of when the tear occurred, especially if it was
caused by straining during constipation or passing an especially hard stool.
How Do Anal Fissures Become A Chronic Issue?
For the majority of sufferers, an anal fissure is a minor annoyance that will heal on its own without
any additional treatment from your doctor. These occurrences are known as acute cases, and are

This diagnosis may be made by a general practitioner or a proctologist after about six weeks of
symptoms from the tear. If treatment is not applied, chronic anal fissures could exist and continue to
be symptomatic for a year or even longer.
For some sufferers, the issue may lie in the fact that the cause of the tear has not be resolved.
For example, if constipation is a frequent problem, you may need to increase your fiber intake or use a
stool softener regularly. The best option is to discuss how to manage your bowel issues with your
healthcare provider.
Although fissure symptoms typically disappear within an hour or two after using the bathroom, this
type of chronic issue can cause a lot of pain in the meantime. If the tear has not healed by the six week
mark, or has healed and then occured again, a visit to your doctor is the most effective method to
ensure there is not a more serious problem and you find relief quickly.

Elements Of Reasoning And Reasoning
The elements of reasoning were created to make people aware of their personal thoughts, as well as
other people. These elements include: purpose, point of view, assumptions, implications, data,
inferences, concepts, solve a problem (Paul, Elder, 2012, pg.68). No element is more important than
the other for reasoning and they all work together. Elements of reasoning are connected to the art of
critical thinking. Critical thinking has been defined many ways and is often described in association
with problem solving and decision making (Lovelace, Eggers, Dyck, 2016, p. 101). Problem solving

Notes On The Price Of Wheat Futures
Strategy 1:
Concerns regarding fluctuations in the price of a certain commodity in the coming future can secured
through the use of different derivative products. In the given case, prime concern of the management
of Karl s bakery is to protect itself against the future variations in the price of the wheat, as it can
impact their business in a significant way. The suitable option for the bakery is to take long position in
December wheat futures contracts as the management procures bulk of the wheat in December. It will
provide Karl s management hedge against unanticipated rise in the price of wheat. The bakery needs
to purchase almost 25,000 bushels of wheat. Therefore, 5 contracts have been purchased (each
contract is based on 5,000 bushels of wheat). Price of each contract is $5.08, and total cost of this
strategy stands at $127,000.
This position in closed on 27th October. The price of wheat futures has risen from $5.08 to $ 5.11
during the period. This price rise translated into positive gains for the bakery as it indicated rise in the
price of the underlying commodity. The management has remained successful in hedging its price risk
by taking long position in wheat futures.
Strategy 2:
Primary apprehension of a corn seller is decline in the price commodity which will impact his
revenues negatively. Short position in corn futures will lock in the future price of the corn and will
guarantee the locked price of the commodity, irrespective of the actual market price of the

Rhetorical Analysis Of Blood, Toil, Tears, And Sweat
On May 13th, 1940, newly elected Prime Minister Winston Churchill delivered a historic speech titled
Blood, Toil, Tears, and Sweat . He discusses the necessity of an empowered Great Britain in the
shadow of World War II; as well as his confidence within the strength of the British people. This
speech s lasting impact was reinforced by it s usage of the three appeals: ethos, logos, and pathos.
These appeals address the ethical, logical, and emotional ideas and undertones within a piece.
Churchill s iconic speech truly encapsulates these three appeals within every word.
Ethos is considered to be the ethical aspect of a piece. In other words: is the information and speaker
reputable and trustworthy? This appeal is clearly demonstrated within Blood, Toil, Tears, and Sweat .
For example, Churchill states
In this crisis I hope I may be pardoned if I do not address the House at any length today. I hope that

reconstruction, will make allowance, all allowance, for any lack of ceremony ... Show more content on

He demonstrates a sense of respect for those listening to his word and those who he works with, which
creates trust in the audience and gives a reputable air to his words. Logos refers to the logic of a work,
addressing if the piece is able to be understood and makes sense. This appeal is demonstrated in the
line Let that be realized; no survival for the British Empire, no survival for all that the British Empire
has stood for (Churchill). Churchill frankly states that without action, the British Empire and its values
will crumble in the face of Nazi Germany. This clear and conscience delivery of Britain s fate is
logical and able to be understood. So in turn, the appeal logos can be

Essay about Ronald Reagan
Ronald Reagan was one of the most influential presidents in American history; yet he is one of the
least talked about in present day history books. President Reagan was not an Ivy League rich kid or
raised in a politically motivated family. He was a midwestern boy who played football and worked his
way through college. President Reagan had visions for the future of this country. Reagan realized he
wanted to lead the country during his time working in California, in the Screen Actor s Guild. He was
bothered by the spread of communism in Hollywood. He took over the Presidency in 1980 after four
years of the most awful leadership this country has ever had. Just as he swore in his campaign, he

Alternative proposals were defeated in both the House and the Senate. Many people in Washington,
liberal and conservative realized they were not playing with the do nothing idiot they had
preconceived. In author Ronnie Dugger s book, critical of Reagan, it was said, quot;no ordinary
person could have achieved what Reagan has quot;. Reagan s school of thought was to combine two
basic theories, the monetarist and supply side. Monetarists believe in taking money out of the
economy and making it worth more, where supply side is to lower taxes and free up more buying
power. In 1981 taxes would be reduced twenty five percent, which in turn freed up buying power.
Reagan s belief that higher tax forces people invest money in tax shelters instead of the economy was
the backbone of his campaign. This was later called quot;Reaganomics quot;. This concept of buying
power in the 1980s has left historians to say it was a time of greed and arrogance. It was quot;a golden
age for financial wheeling and dealing, quot;(Krugman 23). The guilty feeling left looks at the decade
as a time of the rich get richer and wealth run ramped as journalist Haynes Johnson said
quot;Acquisition and flaunting of wealth been celebrated so publicly by so many quot;. (Johnson 194)

Marjane Satrapi s Persepolis
Persepolis is an autobiography of Marjane Satrapi s childhood in her native Iran. She writes about
being a child in Iran through the Iranian revolution and the Iran Iraq war. As Satrapi recounts stories of
her youth, one can observe that the Iran Iraq war and the Iranian revolution are the central events
driving the entire story. When the revolution and war happens, the dynamics of the book change
completely. War creates a sense of unity and nationalism. Marjane shows a large contrast between her
life before and after the war. The war forces her and her family to adapt in ways that they would have
previously never thought possible. This process of adapting to her environment proves to be very
insightful for readers as it gives a very provides a previously unseen perspective. Her community and
family prove to be essential in dealing with the atrocities as they adapt to their environment during the
war.
The Iran Iraq war changes Marjane s family dynamics in a dramatic manner. This causes her family to
begin rely on each other in a ways that are previously unobservable in the text. As the daily comforts
of their wealthy lifestyle disappear and are replaced with perpetual terror, one begins to see Marjane s
family bonding on an entirely new level. Early in the war, Marjane s family begins spending more

in rooms around the house. Her family begins to spend large amount of

Descriptive Essay About Crash
See you later Mom, love you Dad. As I start up the engine of my small plane that I had bought after
getting my license I started my 2,000 mile journey across the Atlantic ocean. I take off from Jackson
Mississippi airport and in an instant in 10,000 feet above sea level. I turn on auto pilot and take a nap.
I jolt up to a loud siren and a red flashing red light. The aircraft that I was in is heading for an island
that was not marked on my radar. The smoke from the engine is puffed up in my face and my wing is
on fire, how this happened, I don t know. There was never a sign of the engine overheating and not a
single bird in the air. As I was free falling in my plane I had to think fast, so I jumped out of the plane
and parachuted on to the beach. My broken down plane flew over my head with a tale of smoke and
barrel rolled into the dark forest of this new founded island. I start a journey to the crash site to try to
recover as much as I could. That was when I saw him, the Gragle. The Gragle was said to be an alien
that had come from another galaxy far far away. He has enormous hands that are none like a human s
and a stench that could be smelt from a mile away. He had eight deep purple eyes that stared into your
soul and legend was told that he has taken lives of many, but none have reported a sighting of him. I

Fan Communities Use Online Discussion Boards
Fan communities use online discussion boards to communicate with one another over the quality and
meaning of what is presented in the media. Captain America conversations stay around the Captain
America and Marvel subreddits, however their users vary; people come out as professors, marines,
artists, etc. This section will examine several pieces of fan testimony explaining their interpretation of
his character, as well as their responses to how his current media portrays him.
Knotsteve addresses the development of Captain America s character over the years his comics ran,
and their personal experience as a fan:

Cap knows it s our job to oppose anyone who seeks to hurt the innocent and oppress the weak, be it
either a supervillain or a president elect. No member of the government, not even the president
himself, gets a pass just because they re an official.
Once again, the fans look at Captain America not as someone who works for the United States
government, but represents the people. While both can be reaching for the same goal, at the end of the
day, Cap will do what he must to protect and serve the American people, and fights for the American
Dream. For the people who do not follow Captain America in the comics, they have the films to rely
on to understand his story. Some fans only watch the movies for entertainment, while others look
beyond the action for a deeper meaning. Disputing the many fans who do not consider The Winter
Soldier to be a political thriller, Reddit user theothercoolfish characterizes the political undertones in
both the Captain America movies:
Civil War is, at its heart, a deeply political movie. The philosophical question of where morality and
ethics needs to be decided, who should hold that power, was asked, debated, and resoundingly
answered.
Winter Soldier looked at how America s government has been hijacked since Rogers was put to sleep.

Nothing Gold Can Stay By Robert Frost And The Powwow At...
The poems that have chosen to be analyzed are Nothing Gold Can Stay by Robert Frost and The
Powwow at the End of the World by Sherman Alexie. Both of these poems have a common theme that
has to do with nature. Although the poems come from authors of two different backgrounds, one is a
white American and the other is a Native American. The poems each use legends or myth to get a
specific point across. These poems are great examples of myth/legend use to drive its authors point
across, such as Nature s first green is gold, a reflection of youth. Nothing Gold Can Stay is a poem by
Robert Frost; it is a beautifully written poem that uses nature as a medium to discuss the importance of
youth or childhood. He uses his word specifically to create a definite meaning behind his word. The
beginning of his poem starts with, Nature s first green is gold, her hardest hue to hold. ; he uses the
myth of gold being the purest and most precious metal, to show that nature s first stage is precious as
well. However, these words have more than just their literal meaning, as Frost also alludes to youth.
This quote from the poem could be taken as: childhood is the best and purest part of life, but it is life s
shortest part. Gold is symbolized here as the purity of childhood and how precious it is. This entire
sentence is an impressive piece of writing, but the part that really makes it stand out is her hardest hue
to hold . The last part of the quote says nature s first green is the

Mao Cultural Revolution
A. Plan of Investigation
In 1966, Mao mobilized the Chinese youth to initiate the Cultural Revolution , a violent process
eliminating old Chinese culture, customs, thoughts and habits, purging counter revolutionary party
members, and heightening Mao s personality cult. I will summarize evidence collected from
textbooks, official documents, biographies and eyewitness reports about the events between 1959 and
1966. I will describe the failure of the Great Leap Forward, Mao s resignation as president, his power

Furthermore, at the Conference of 7000 in 1964, instead of supporting Mao, Liu gave a speech

2. Establishment of the personality cult
Mao s lack of public appearances after 1958 had damaged his image and his authority. Since 1963, the
Little Red book ( Quotations from Chairman Mao Tse tung ), compiling Mao s statements on his
views and ideology, had been a standard Chinese text, and his personality cult was systematically
fostered by Lin Biao , his faithful Minister of Defence, using various forms of propaganda and giving
him popular titles such as The red sun rising in the East . Mao re entered public life on 16 July 1966
with an appearance of him swimming in the Yangtze River, to promote his strength. He frenzied the
admiration of the Chinese youth, which he was hoping to mobilize for revolutionary purposes.

Asian American Case Study Essay
Asian Americans are diverse in terms of English proficiency, health needs and cultural identity. There
are some other factors, such as knowledge and beliefs regarding causes of disease, modes of
treatment, and value of prevention, which often delay Asian Americans from seeking out or obtaining
quality healthcare.
Asian Americans are often limited with English proficiency and a poor understanding of the intricate
American health care system. Members of the community may not know the right questions to ask or
even whom to ask and may lack a clear understanding of how to assess their problems in their new
cultural context.

Wiz Khalifa was born Cameron Jibril Thomas on September 8, 1987. He is an American songwriter,
entertainer, rapper, and singer. His first album was Show and Prove, and was released in 2006. Wiz
Khalifa is also well known for his first single release that commanded attention on the billboard. On
the other hand, Michael Jackson was born Michael Joseph Jackson in 1958. He became a superstar
when he was barely twelve years old. Jackson, who started his music career as a member of Jacksons
family band, would later become a music legend. Wiz Khalifa and Michael Jackson are one in kind

musicians signed out of contracts and did singles that contributed to their rise. Khalifa turned down an

Stereotyping
Stereotyping In My essay I will discuss stereotyping and different types of stereotyping. I will discuss
how in todays society people are stereotyped in different many ways. In today s society, there are
stereotypes for almost any groups that individuals belong to. At some point in any person s life, they
would have experienced stereotyping. For instance, it is often said that all African Americans are good
at basketball, males are more aggressive than females, Lawyers are deceitful, and the list goes on.
Stereotypes are so wide spread and used so often that they seem to be a natural behaviour for human
beings. (Kassin, Fein, Markus, 2008) So, what is stereotyping? Why do we categorize individuals into
groups? How do stereotypes form? ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Racial stereotypes specifically function mostly through propaganda of the media, due to the
unlikelihood of every man travelling to every country, using the technique of misinformation through
movies, shows, and news reports. Egyptians have been stereotyped as desert residents for many years
regardless of the reality and actual state of Egypt as a country. For instance, the stereotypes pointing
that Egyptians are mostly uneducated due to their ignorance of the importance of education is proven
false by studies of trustworthy sources. Among those studies, the one conducted by the American
university in Cairo , Egypt . Al Ahram weekly, a credible newspaper known all across the Arab world,
has posted in its October issue of 1998 the following: According to Sahar El Tawila, the principal

work and marriage were rarely stated by boys and girls respectively as reasons for leaving school.
These may be options for those who have already left school, but they are not the impetus behind their
decision to leave (Al Ahram 1998). Remembering Cosmopolitan Egypt: Literature, Culture, and

Facing It By Yusef Komunyakaa Summary
Facing It by the American black poet Yusef Komunyakaa of Shreveport is written with the use of
visual images. Yusef Komunyakaa writes about one of his many trips to the Vietnam s Veteran s
Memorial in Washington DC. This Memorial is a long polished slab of black reflectant granite with
the names of all the US soldiers who lost their lives in Vietnam. Yusef says my black face fades,
hiding inside the black granite . Here Yusef uses his reflection in the wall to bring the reader back to
the war and how he feels standing at the wall now. He makes his feeling ambiguous and give the
reader the opportuntity to decide what he is feeling through his use of viual images. For example, one
of these images can be interpretted in the section My ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Perhaps he was someone that Yusef knew. With Yusef s thoughts flying back to the days at war, he
could have interpreted the reflection of a flash of a camera or a white cloud and instantly remembered
seeing this man blown apart by the flash of a booby trap. That particular experience would definitely
have stuck with anyone as a very prey like memory. Another mysterious image Yusef writes is A white
vet s image floats closer to me, then his pale eyes look through mine. I m a window. He s lost his right
arm inside the stone . When he says a white vet s image floats closer to me, he could either be talking
about the memory of a white man he served with or a white man walking closer to him at the wall.
When the man s pale eyes look through Yusef s this could be that the man at the wall is not really
looking at him but at the names on the wall, or that the eyes are looking through him because Yusef is
watching him die in Vietnam as his soul is drifting away. Perhaps this is the Andrew Johnson and he
lost his arm in the stone as in in the war and Yusef is speaking for him and other fallen heroes like a
window. Also if it is a real man s reflection, maybe his pale eyes looking through Yusef s could be
showing Yusef the same pain and hurt that they both went through in the war in the sense that Yusef
becomes a window, by sharing the same hurt. Maybe this man really did not have an arm or maybe his
reflection of his arm was just hiden in the wall. This symbolizes what

Cigarette Smoking Persuasive Speech
Cigarette smoking is one of the biggest habits in the world at present. More than 16 million people

Preventing Falls Among The Elderly Population
Introduction Falls are a commonly experienced problem among the elderly population. The incidence
rates of falls among the Hong Kong s community living elderly stood at 26 percent, while the
incidence of new fallers stands at 198 falls per 1000 individuals per year. Whereas, one year
prevalence level of falls was identified to be 19 percent with the mean number of falls annually for a
faller being 1.4 falls. Forty seven of the falls in a year were identified occur indoors while the rest
outdoors. Around a third of the elderly population aged over 64 years experience at least one fall a
year. Past studies link falls to extrinsic factors and intrinsic factors. An example of intrinsic factors
includes medical problems while one extrinsic factor involves environmental hazards.
Comprehensively, falls result from muscle weaknesses, gait deficits, usage of assistive devices,
cognitive impairments, arthritis, advanced age and history of falls (Fong, Siu, Yeung, Cheung, Chan,
2011). This paper proposes a research study focuses on preventing falls among the elderly population
in Hong Kong. The target population of the study constitutes the elderly aged over 60 years on the
hectic area named Mong Kok, Kowloon in Hong Kong. Among the eighteen district areas in Hong
Kong, the Mong Kok is considered representative district for the study on the promotion program.

Our reasoning behind how we determined supplier engagement, set production levels, and allocated

production costs were lower as well. We choose Pretty Close due to the zero month lead time, and the

The average demand and standard deviation were taken into effect in the first few years. From what

adjust our production levels accordingly. Model A had smaller standard deviations so we didn t steer
far from using that average, but Model B s standard deviations were larger so we had to be more
careful with the production levels we chose. Towards the later years, we also factored in the news
stories and trends that developed in the previous years and adjusted the levels accordingly. The
allocation of capacity among our suppliers was mainly due to the lead times and unit costs. We placed
a larger order with Far Far Away in January because the lead time was four months and we would
have received it by the time the sales season started in May. The unit costs were also cheaper which
meant we could order more. We placed a smaller order with Pretty Close in April due to the zero

The two poems known as The Wife s Lament and The Lament of the Old Woman of Beare have
numerous similar qualities even though they both come from different people. The Wife s Lament is
an Old English poem that is exceptionally heavy with emotional content; it is a monologue from the
perspective of a sorrowful woman who appears to be undergoing significant sorrows due to separation

Treatment Options of Acme Essay
The word acne comes from the word acme meaning the highest point , which comes from the Greek
akme meaning point or spot .
Acne is a skin condition that may occur due to hormonal changes during puberty or even during

claims of a person s diet affecting their acne has not been verified yet. Another popular claim links

minimize the scars left behind on the skin. Another common treatment sought out by the
dermatologists today is ACCUTANE. Since, it affects people of all age groups, an effective treatment
is yet to be found that will have the same effect for everybody. But since, everybody s skin is different,
no such common remedy exists and only a dermatologist can examine an individual s skin and suggest
the best possible course of action for the treatment.
ACCUTANE:
Also known by the name Isotretinoin or (13 cis retinoic acid), Accutane is used for the treatment of
severe cases of acne. It is a form of vitamin A which reduces the amount of oil released by oil glands

the uneven balance of its pros and cons with the cons weighing on the heavier side. It has a long list of
particularly dangerous side effects associated with it due to which it can be prescribed only by specific
dermatologists in consultation with the manufacturers. It is administered orally in pill form and is

Trade embargos have tremendous consequences for countries that are being embargoed. The embargos
not only affect the country that are being embargoed, but the effect bleed over the borders to the
surrounding countries. The list of countries that have been sanctioned by the United Nations included
Russia, North Cyprus, and Cuba. United Nations sanctions that target countries affect the economy,
the morale, and encourages criminal activities to obtain goods. The majority of good hearted citizens
would be appalled if they were walking down a street and saw a dog tied up in a yard looking like it

Society to report this cruel treatment of this poor dog. As doctor C. M. Tiplada, D. B. Walsh, and C. J.

Analysis Of The Indian Camp By Ernest Hemingway
The Indian camp is considered as one of Hemingway s best short stories. For the most part, it focuses
on the relationship between father and son, and life experiences like: childbirth, loss of innocence and
suicide. Nick Adams, the son of the doctor, accompanies his father to the Indian camp where a woman
that was pregnant has complications giving birth. Dr. Adams ends up performing a caesarian section,
ultimately saving her and the baby s life, but then the woman s husband commits suicide. This is Nick
s first traumatic incident, and the first sight of personal suffering. This is shown with his various
questions he asked his father, like do ladies always have such a hard time having babies? (3) and do
many men kill themselves, Daddy? (3), the repercussions of life seem as clear as day to Nick for the
first time in his life.
The short story leaves us with a number of questions, such as why does the Indian husband kill
himself? What is Uncle George s role, and why does he disappear by the end of the story? Although
the story has a father son dynamic, thinking of these questions push the audience to read beyond the
fact that Nick s father saved the Indian woman, and pay attention to the more traumatizing aspects.
But Nick decides to reject empathy completely with him feeling he would never die (Tyler 39). His
rejection of having objectivity has Nick become like his father, and have lack of humility towards the
Indian woman. Indian camp was created with many aspects of

King Arthur Archetypes
Roger Lancelyn Green portrays King Arthur as an archetypal hero in King Arthur and his Knights of
the Round Table. A literary archetype is a universal symbol that can describe a type of character or
patterns of human nature that show up in many different types of literature (Archetypes). When
thinking of an archetypal hero there are many things that can describe this type of character such as
having a mother that is pure, unusual birth, being rased by foster parents, little is known of the heros
childhood, ends up returning to his or her kingdom, takes on the roal of king or queen, has to defeat a
ruler or beast, falls in love with prince or princess, not much happens while they are the ruler, the gods
lose faver in him or her, his or her death is mysterious, and has a sepulcher(Nelson 4). King Arthur is a
great example of an archetypal hero. King Arthur shows many of the traits that are needed to be an
archetypal hero. Arthur s mother was good of intent in the way that she thought that she was ... Show

Arthur was conserved when his father was descised as Igrayne s husband after he had died which
means that Igrayne is still pure because she did not cheat on her husband (Green 4,11). Arthur was not
raised by is birth parents he is raised by stepparents, he returns to Camelot at the age of 16 with his
stepparents, ends up pulling the sword out of the anvil to become king, after a few months of Arthur
ruling he is challenged by King Ryon and defeats him, he marries princess Guinevere, and not much
happens during his rein (Green 6, 7, 25, 35, 52, 54, 93). A few years Guinevere cheats on Arthur with
his best friend Launcelot, Arthur goes to war with his nephew Mordred, ends up being killed by him,
and is said to be found in a mysterious cave waiting till he is needed in Britain again (Green 352, 373,
377). From before when Arthur was born to after his death Arthur shows all the characteristics of an

Comparing Epic Of Gilgamesh, Genesis, And Greek Mythology
Gilgamesh, Genesis, and Greek mythology all have detailed and very similar stories that tell of a great
flood that wiped most of civilization. Each of the floods described are very similar detail with slight
differences that were most likely different because of culture. The epic of Gilgamesh tells of
Gilgamesh determined to find immortality since he now fears death after seeing Enkidu die. It is upon
this search that he meets Utnapishtim, the character most like the Biblical Noah. Utnapishtim had
become immortal after building a ship to survive the Great Deluge that had destroyed mankind. He
brought all of his relatives and all species of creatures aboard the vessel. Utnapishtim released birds to
find land, and the ship landed upon a mountain after the flood. ... Show more content on

A few examples would be, both causes of the flood were caused by sin and wickedness, the flood was
meant for all of mankind, both have heroes that built massive boats, both gathered every specie of
animal to store on the boat, both released birds to figure if the flood was over, and in both stories the
ark lands upon a mountain.
There were however a few slight differences that occurred in the stories, here are a few of the bigger
and more noticeable examples. The first, the one who sent the message to build the ark in the bible
was Yahweh, while in Gilgamesh, it was an assembly of gods. Along with that, in the bible Noah
received his message directly from God, whereas Utnapishtim was told in a dream. And lastly, by far
the biggest difference, was the number of days that each flood lasted. In the biblical story it lasted for
40 days and nights, whereas in Gilgamesh it only lasted for 6 days and

the CEO of Consumer Community Banking at Chase.
It might be comforting for investors to hear that a majority of CEO Jamie Dimon s net worth is tied up
in JPMorgan Chase stock. According to the bank s latest proxy statement, he owns 6.7 million shares
outright, valued at around $604 million. (Some of those shares were bought when the stock price was

Antitrust Policy
Throughout mankind existence, civilization has brought many changes that have affected lives. For
some, these changes have brought better condition of living, for others disparities. With the emergence
of industrialization businesses have focused on controlling world market and prices by creating a
monopoly in order to have absolute control, making it almost impossible for competition to survive.
As consumers begin to suffer government were forced to create policies in order to address this
alarming behavior. By the 1890 s U.S gorvernment has introduced legislation of the Interstate
Commerce Act. The Sherman Act of 1890 s regulation of antitrust competition policies was created as

We re more than a century into the antitrust regulation the system is not yet perfect we still have a long
way to go. Here in United States of America in 2014, we continue to experience the effect of market
power. One example is cable services; in the community where I live my local cable company is the
only one that offers Internet and cable services by not allowing competition they are able to charge a
fixed price much higher than neighboring communities that have other carriers to choose from.
In my opinion one area monopoly or oligopoly may benefit society is solar system; everyone ought to
get their electricity from the sun where companies should charge a reasonable fee for maintenance and

  • 5. State Regulated or Federal Regulate Insurance One of the most important economic issues in the insurance industry is the push for increased federal regulation of insurance. According to the Washington Surveying Rating Bureau, Congress in 1945 stated that the regulation of the business of insurance would be best left to individual states. Since the release of this statement, a common argument that state regulation is inefficient, costly, and burdensome has been made. It is also argued that the 50 or so individual laws and jurisdictions embody many rules and standards that are very difficult and timely as regulatory systems. These systems have been described as very costly, and that they also deny customers the creativity of the free market to quickly develop and market innovative insurance products. The common way to respond to these issues in such a robust industry is typically by federal regulation. It is believed that having just one regulator for the entire country will lead to more new products being introduced in the market place and thus, increased competition which will be better financially for all consumers, carriers, and agents. This logic is likely supported by the idea that it is easier to introduce a product if it is going to only be approved by one insurance department rather than several dozens more. However, many other factors come to play. It is important to realize that the purpose of insurance regulation is to provide consumer protection. In RMI 3500, I have learned that there are insurance ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

After being born on May 6, 1914, in Nashville Tennessee, Jarrell and his parents moved to Los Angeles where his dad worked as a photographer. When Mr. and Mrs. Jarrell divorced, Randall and his younger brother returned to Nashville to live with their mother. While in Nashville, Randall attended Hume Frogg high school. The reader gets a clear image of something being very high above the ground. When the author says, loosed from the dream of life, the reader gets a slight feeling of death or a vision of someone dying. The fourth line, I woke to the black flak and the nightmare fighters, brings the reader visual, auditory and tactile imagery. The reader can picture someone waking up to shrapnel, from an exploding bomb, flying by their head. One can hear the gunfire of the, nightmare fighters, along with the exploding shells. The reader also gets a tactile image when the author says, I woke up, because everyone knows what it is like to wake up from a sleep. In the fifth and final line the reader gets a very graphic visual image. The reader can picture someone s body being so destroyed that instead of removing the body from the turret the soldiers must wash it out with a hose. Jarrell also used a great deal of figurative language in this poem. The entire poem is an extended metaphor. This poem compares the struggles of war with the struggles of being born. • 8. Positive Role In Social Work Social work is a practice based profession and academic discipline focusing on the principles of social justice, human rights and equality and diversity (International Federation of Social Workers (IFSW), 2014). Furthermore, social work is a complex discipline which is underpinned by theories grounded in social science, humanities and indigenous knowledge (IFSW, 2014). Social work has been embedded into society as a fundamental aspect of planning person centred care for vulnerable groups (Dowling et al, 2006). There are many schools of thought which attempt to define what constitutes a vulnerable group within society. Richardson et al (2015) states that vulnerability arises within those individuals who need support to address the challenges that affect their quality of life. Poverty, extremes of age, disability, mental or physical health status and ethnicity all have the potential to contribute to vulnerability and social exclusion of the group or individual (Joseph Rowntree Foundation, 2017). In particular, the elderly and youths leaving care are recognised as having multiple needs and face adversity integrating wholly into society. It is the role of the social worker to assess, plan, intervene, implement and evaluate the care for these groups and individuals (Horner, 2009)). Social workers play a vital role within society in supporting such people regardless of their background. • 9. Beowulf and Grendel Beowulf is a classical epic poem which describes Beowulf s heroic deeds and his acts towards bringing justice and peace to the Scandinavian society by eradicating Grendel. The original manuscript (700 1000A.D.) and the modern film (2005) reveals significant differences between the characters traits and descriptions, an important quotation, descriptions of places, motives, a character s presence and events that have taken place. Thus, this modern adaptation, Beowulf and Grendel, of an ancient text, Beowulf, is significantly flawed as any modern adaptation of an ancient text will be. In the film, specific characters are portrayed differently as they are in the poem. A significant example of this is from the character, Grendel. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He runs up to one of them and kneels beside them and begins to weep and screams that he should be buried here with them because he cannot do anything to stop Grendel. Here, Hrothgar is confused and does not know what to do to stop this troll . Even with the arrival of Beowulf and his heroic stories and confidence to defeat Grendel, Hrothgar is still pictured as a depressed and weak character. An example in the film that Hrothgar is still confused and depressed even after the arrival of Beowulf is when Hrothgar and Beowulf argue on the upper floor of the mead hall after two unsuccessful nights of trying to defeat Grendel. Hrothgar is agitated and impatient to the fact that Beowulf has still not eliminated Grendel . This argument is an example that Hrothgar is still very worried and depressed even with the arrival of a great hero, Beowulf. These examples show that King Hrothgar in the film, is a character that has fell into a permanent depression and lacks courage, confidence, and leadership qualities. These qualities greatly contrast with the qualities of Hrothgar in the poem which symbolizes him as a great leader even through times of hardship. Beowulf is written in the form of Old English and the film is recorded in a modern perspective and many of the poem s words and quotations are not utilized to its full extent and context. A ... • 21. Nothing Gold Can Stay By Robert Frost And The Powwow At... The poems that have chosen to be analyzed are Nothing Gold Can Stay by Robert Frost and The Powwow at the End of the World by Sherman Alexie. Both of these poems have a common theme that has to do with nature. Although the poems come from authors of two different backgrounds, one is a white American and the other is a Native American. The poems each use legends or myth to get a specific point across. These poems are great examples of myth/legend use to drive its authors point across, such as Nature s first green is gold, a reflection of youth. Nothing Gold Can Stay is a poem by Robert Frost; it is a beautifully written poem that uses nature as a medium to discuss the importance of youth or childhood. He uses his word specifically to create a definite meaning behind his word. The beginning of his poem starts with, Nature s first green is gold, her hardest hue to hold. ; he uses the myth of gold being the purest and most precious metal, to show that nature s first stage is precious as well. However, these words have more than just their literal meaning, as Frost also alludes to youth. This quote from the poem could be taken as: childhood is the best and purest part of life, but it is life s shortest part. Gold is symbolized here as the purity of childhood and how precious it is. This entire sentence is an impressive piece of writing, but the part that really makes it stand out is her hardest hue to hold . The last part of the quote says nature s first green is the ...
