Kant s Theory Of Space And Time
In Kant s Prolegomena, he states that space and time are pure intuitions. Kant s assimilation of space
and time relates to his idea of contingency and how necessity is not derived from experience. In this
essay I will give the premises for Kant s statement in relation to space and time being pure intuitions
in order to make his argument salient. I will also disambiguate definitions that are involved in the
premise; and information on the basis of Kant s understanding of pure and empirical intuitions
regarding space and time. Then after a concise explanation of his argument, I will object to it by
reconstructing his argument and showing the skepticism of space and time being from pure intuitions.
Finally, I will give a possible response on behalf of Kant that ties his concept of space and time
existing in a form of pure intuitions. The premises in regards to Kant s claim are; (1) If we omit from
the empirical intuitions of bodies and their alternations...everything empirical, belonging to sensation,
space and time still remains. (Prolegomena 10, pg. 25).
(2) The difference between similar and equal things which are not congruent, cannot be made
intelligible by any concept, by only by the relation to the right and left hands, which immediately
refers to intuitions. (Prolegomena 13, pg. 28). The necessary terms to know in order to understand this
particular claim are; Empirical, which mean s derived from experience , and Pure which means not
derived from experience. On

The Importance Of Toxic Leadership
The Corps of the Noncommissioned Officer (NCO) has been around since the formation of the
Continental Army in 1775. The basic responsibility of the NCO was to fill gaps in the lines and keep
soldiers quiet on mission while leading (Perkioniemi, 2009). Currently, the responsibilities of the
NCO focus on soldier welfare and accomplishing the mission (NCO Creed). Toxic leadership is a
serious concern for the military, and it is undermining the reputation of the NCO Corps. What is toxic
leadership, how can it be addressed, and what will happen to the Corps if it is allowed to continue?
Toxic leadership as defined by Wilson (2014) is a combination of self centered attitudes, motivations,
and behaviors that have adverse effects on subordinates, the organization, and mission performance .
NCOs, just as civilians, range from poor leaders to excellent leaders; but when does poor leadership
become toxic leadership and what causes this toxic leadership? Not every soldier is born to lead. Some
soldiers are bad decision makers, poor time managers, or just unable to inspire confidence in their
fellow soldiers. There is nothing wrong with being a follower if you are a competent individual who
can perform the given tasks. A NCO who cannot step up and lead is not a toxic leader, they are a bad
leader. With education and training NCOs with poor leaderships skills develop into competent leaders.
Toxic leadership is a result of narcissistic leaders, individuals who have an

Maximizing Naitonal Security Through Foreign Policy
Foreign policy can be understood as a set of political goals that aims to outline how a particular state
will interact with others For Beach (2012), Foreign policy actions can be undertaken using a variety of
different instruments, ranging from adopting declarations, making speeches, negotiating treaties,
giving other states economic aid, engaging in diplomatic activity such as summits, and the use of
military force . No matter which instruments are used, the primary objective of states in outlining their
foreign policies is to maximise their national security. As such, states go about maximising national
security through different means such as by military force, economic prosperity and/or the welfare of
its people. However, it has been ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
States within the international system are said to be existing under the same conditions as there is no
effective overarching authority mediating disputes between nations (Waltz 1979). Realists argue that
states are compelled to seek power in order to ensure their own security. They posit that the primary
national interest of all states is national security. Though there have been different strands of realism
within IR theory, they are all united in their subscriptions to the concepts of survival and self help
(Dunne Schmidt, 2011).
Due to realists depicting the international realm as anarchic, the first priority of state leaders is to
ensure the survival of the state. Because there is no guarantee that states can ensure their safety from
external threats, the use of force which can escalate to war is seen as a legitimate tool of statecraft
such force can be used to start wars or be used as an element of coercive diplomacy (Art Cronin,
2003). For realists, the possibility of states using force against one another is ever present, generating
insecurity between them. But anarchy is not the only factor that generates insecurity between states.
First, most states possess some form of offensive capability which they can use against rivals. Second,

Osi Model
Michael Rauseo IT310 OSI Model In the early years of computer and network research and
development many systems were designed by a number of companies. Although each system had its
rights and were sold across the world, it became apparent as network usage grew, that it was difficult,
to enable all of these systems to communicate with each other. In the early 1980s, the International
Organization for Standardization (ISO) recognized the need for a network model that would help
companies create common network implementations. The OSI reference model, released in 1984,
addresses this need. The OSI reference model became the primary architectural model for
communications. Although other architectural models have ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

For a reliable network layer a minimal transport layer is required. Functions of the transport layer
include the following. Accepting messages from the layer above and, if necessary, splitting them into
frames Providing reliable, end to end message delivery with acknowledgments Instructing the
transmitting computer not to transmit when no receive buffers are available Multiplexing several
process to process message streams or sessions onto one logical link and keeping track of which
messages belong to which sessions Session Layer The session layer establishes a communications
session between processes running on different computers, and can support message mode data

process addresses. It provides the means by which these process addresses can be resolved to the

Essay on The Drowned and the Saved, by Primo Levi
In looking back upon his experience in Auschwitz, Primo Levi wrote in 1988: ?It is naïve, absurd, and
historically false to believe that an infernal system such as National Socialism (Nazism) sanctifies its
victims. On the contrary, it degrades them, it makes them resemble itself.? (Primo Levi, The Drowned
and the Saved, 40). The victims of National Socialism in Levi?s book are clearly the Jewish Haftlings.
Survival in Auschwitz, a book written by Levi after he was liberated from the camp, clearly makes a
case that the majority of the Jews in the lager were stripped of their human dignity. The Jewish
prisoners not only went through a physical hell, but they were psychologically driven under as well.
Levi writes, ??the Lager was a great ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
for he who loses all often easily loses himself.? (Levi, 27).
The prisoners are further degraded because they simply do not have enough to eat. They become very
haggardly and often have difficulty in judging each other?s age. Acquisition of a sufficient amount of
food becomes a daily struggle, and for those who do not rise to the occasion ultimately parish. After a
certain time period, it is impossible to survive unless you become an ?Organisator, Kombinator, or a
Prominent? (Levi, 89). Levi writes, ?We have learnt the value of food; now we also diligently scrape
the bottom of the bowl after the ration and we hold it under our chins when we eat bread so as not to
lose the crumbs? (Levi, 33). A prisoner could only survive on a normal ration for around 3 months at
best. Starving to death was not the main reason to acquire an adequate amount of food. The selections
had to be avoided. If a prisoner was too weak to work, he was destined for the gas chambers.
In the book Levi mentions a man named Elias, who is a cunning thief and adept worker: ?? who is this
man Elias. If he is a madman, incomprehensible and para human, who ended up in the Lager by
chance. If he is a atavism, different from our modern world, and better adapted to the primordial

Black Tar Heroin Epidemic Analysis
One of the only foreseeable problems of truth is the representation of the heroin epidemic as just that
an epidemic. Many people see heroin abuse as a choice which it is, initially and a crime that should be
punished, not necessarily treated. Hopefully, conversations with law enforcement and medical
professionals can provide objective, expert opinions that will balance with firsthand accounts that the
audience can empathize with. This approach will seek to strike a balance between the personal and the
professional to minimize that problem of truth . Supporting assertions with evidence and expert
testimony will put objectivity at the forefront of the documentary.

Black Tar Heroin (1999) is perhaps one of the best examples. Black Tar Heroin is an HBO piece that
focuses on the lives of five addicted young people and the poor decisions that arise as a result of their
abuse. While it gives some humanity to the issue of heroin addiction, it does not delve into the
overarching, underlying causes of the heroin problem in the same way that Mistakes on the Lake will
seek to. Mistakes on the Lake will be less of a slice of life piece, though it will emphasize that anyone
can get addicted to heroin. In 2016, the PBS documentary series Frontline produced a two hour
investigative episode called Chasing Heroin that sought to educate people about addiction and reach
the root of the opioid problem. Mistakes on the Lake will focus more on the stories of individuals, and
it will center specifically around the Northern Ohio region. Chasing Heroin focuses on the big picture
, the nation at large. While the issue of heroin abuse and overdose obviously did not happen overnight,
it is still a relatively new issue. Most of the literature surrounding heroin does not focus on the source
of the epidemic and the real stories of those addicted to it. For the most part, books relating to heroin
are fictionalized accounts like Dopefiend or self help books that seek to help addicts in

Satire In South Park
Satire was a comedic method to ridicule the issues of society. It makes fun of current issues of the
time of the people. It sometimes helps push the political agenda a certain way. Recently, satire is used
by late night hosts poking fun of ridiculous behaviors of politicians. This tends to exaggerate a certain
quality in a character like in South Park. Additionally, satire involves irony. Usually tends to upset
some of the audience like the supporters, but has the opposition to the subject laughing uncontrollable.
Comedy of character is a character that has many weaknesses. Psychology helped improve this
method. The characters usually do the opposite of what is expected in situations. These characters are
ignorant to their surroundings. Stated

Personal Note On Chinese New Year
I was back home in China celebrating Chinese Lunar New Year with my parents for the first time in 5
years. Fireworks outside the window were so loud that I could feel the floor was shaking. My parents
and I were sitting on the couch and stared at the TV screen. No one was talking. This Chinese New
Year was different from what it was like when I was a kid. When I was still in Elementary school, I
looked forward to Chinese New Year the most. There were so many cool things about Chinese New
Year. My parents would be so busy that they forgot the fact that I had a huge load of homework to
finish. I could have hours of free time to spend playing video games. My grandma would make tons of
food that were beyond delicious. My parents ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Every year, Masters from all kinds of entertainment fields gathered up and offered their best
performances to the audience. The magic show especially grabbed my interests as a kid. Afraid of
missing any single movement the magician made, I would almost stick my nose against the TV screen,
in hope to find out how the magician performed such a mind blowing magic.
Since adults believed firing fireworks would bring good fortunes to the new year, the sky would be
covered with fireworks during the night before Lunar New Year. My dad was a firm believer of such a
superstition and enthusiastically joined the firework party every year. The day before Lunar New Year,
my dad would take me on a trip looking for new fireworks. We always picked the biggest one we
could find on the market. As the clock approached 12 pm, the firework party started. The silence of
the night would be interrupted by the first sound of fireworks. Following the first sound of firework,
thousands of fireworks shot up the sky and exploded into many colorful, beautiful patterns. My and I
would also light up our firework to join the party. As a kid, the sight was as splendid as it could ever
get. As the time approached 12 pm, the fireworks had only gotten louder than before. I stood up to get
myself ready to light our fireworks. My dad looked at me curiously, and asked: Where are you going?

story as a naturalist visualization of the devastating effects that wars and battles had on the soldiers
which fought in them. The short story Chickamauga is defined as naturalist literature because of the
author s employment of specific literary techniques which define naturalism, such as the way the
author gradually darkens the mood of the storyline as it progresses, the amount of description and

disappointed to find everything is too heavy, so in surrender he flung his sword instead. Suddenly
looking around himself, the child begins to notice the outbuildings as if they were familiar to him and
realizes that he is not at a plantation he has never seen before, but is instead watching his own home
that he had left earlier that afternoon burn to the ground. Upon this realization the boy begins to run

Stifled Women in The Yellow Wallpaper, Rappaccini s Daughter, and Beloved
A connection can be drawn among the stories listed above regarding women who live as prisoners.
Beatrice, of Rappaccini s Daughter, is confined to a garden because of her father s love of science, and
she becomes the pawn to several men s egos. The woman of The Yellow Wallpaper is trapped by her
own family s idea of how she should conduct herself, because her mood and habit of writing are not
normal to them. Sethe, of Beloved, carries the burden of her past and also the past of all slaves. She is
unwelcome in her community and a prisoner in her own home, where she is forced to confront these
memories of slavery. All three of these women are viewed by ... Show more content on

Each man only saw what he wanted to see regarding Beatrice, and for Giovanni, it was most complex.
Her father probably had good intentions when he caused his daughter to be poisonous. He did it as a
means of protection, but this backfired, because the tendency of others to misunderstand Beatrice s
complex makeup led them to unintentionally kill her. Each of the three men in Rappaccinni s Daughter
wanted to mold Beatrice into something and each had his own idea of her identity, yet none of them
looked at her subjectively. This is pointed out by Luedtke on page 188. When he (Giovanni) was
unable to bring Beatrice rigidly and systematically within the realm of his own experience, and
unwilling to risk a closer knowledge, Giovanni left the poison damsel to die in her own pleasure place.
It is interesting to note Luedtke s use of the words pleasure place . This suggests that the poisonous
garden was not the real problem or prison for Beatrice. An interesting point is revealed by Luedtke as
he states, The author makes a late attempt to intertwine her poison and her purity, but the demonic and
the angelic continue to occupy their separate spheres, the former of the body, the latter of the soul. As
Baglioni s antidote takes effect, eradicating the poison from Beatrice s system, her physical life is
consumed. The soul might be innocent but it has no resting place. (181) If Beatrice s soul had no

Tungsten And Titanium Comparison
Tungsten carbide, which is often just called tungsten, and titanium are the most popular materials for
contemporary rings. While some people believe there aren t many differences between the two metals,
there are some definite differences to consider when making your choice between tungsten and
titanium. After reading this list, you ll be able to see that it comes down to the person s lifestyle when
trying to make a choice between tungsten and titanium.
Hardness Levels Between the Two Metals

which most people know. What they might not know is that tungsten comes in second on that list.

Any resizing will result in the ring breaking. With the inexpensive costs of the metals, though, the
rings can easily be replaced if they need to be resized. There are also some manufacturers that allow
customers to return a ring for a different size without charge.
The Colors of Titanium and Tungsten
The metals are available in a variety of colors. They re naturally darkish gray, but they re seen
commonly in black as well. Tungsten has the option of being a white that gives a more classic white
gold or platinum look to the jewelry. Titanium can be created in a variety of colors. It goes through a
heating or oxidation process that can produce blue, purple or black. The color in a titanium ring doesn
t penetrate completely and can be scratched off the ring itself.
Are the Metals Hypoallergenic
When it comes to titanium rings, people who are prone to allergic reactions to metals will not have a
problem. The same can t be said for tungsten rings, which have elements in them that will cause skin
allergies. The allergy is often caused by cobalt, so if a piece of jewelry says that it s specifically not
made with cobalt, the person might not have an issue. It depends on the alloy

Argumentative Essay On Animals
Around twenty six million animals are used for scientific research every year in the United States
alone. The animals are used solely for medical treatments, determining the toxicity of medications,
checking the safety of products destined for human use, and many other biomedical, commercial, and
healthcare uses. Researchers estimate animals have been used as test subjects since 500 B.C.
According to Humane Society International, animal subjects are commonly forced fed, forced
inhalation of chemicals, deprived of food and water, burned, and possibly killed. We as a nation need
to begin a movement to stop testing products on defenseless animals (PETA).
Researchers have found descriptions of live animals being dissected in ancient Greek writing dating
back to 500 BC. Physician scientists such as Aristotle, Herophilus, and Erasistratus conducted
experiments on animals to discover the functions of living organisms. Originally, vivisection, the
dissection of a living organism, were performed on criminals in ancient Rome and Alexandria,
however, in ancient Greece there were prohibitions against the mutilation of the human body which
eventually led to the reliance on animals. The physicians each had their own opinions when it came to
performing vivisections on animals. Aristotle believed that animals lacked intelligence and therefore
the notions of justice and injustice did not apply to them. A successor to Aristotle, Theophrastus,
disagreed stating that animals, like humans,

The current rate of at which the world is being affected by climate change; one may be convinced to
believe that the earth will not be able to be inhabited by any other generation. The perfect clarification
of these claims has been the reduction in the life span and the increase in the number of diseases that
are actually attacking human beings all because of climatic change. The impact of climate change has
been felt and this has had a negative impact on the lives of animals and human beings (Baker, Judy

countries hence the increase in the rate of complacency. The point also explains why developing
country usually relies on foreign aid as means of sustaining their own economies.
Initially animals used to have very long time span in that goats or even cattle could stay for years and
yet they are still very productive. This has certainly changed as result of climatic changes. The animals
used to live longer as a result of cold temperatures that used to slow down their rates of metabolism
hence the longer life span. Temperatures today are very high as a result of climatic changes. The
increased temperatures have actually led to increase in the metabolic rate of the animals hence the
reduction in the life span. This explains why animals today cannot even live for more than five years
and then remain productive all along as animals could live for a whole decade but still remain very
productive. It is believed that the presence of favorable climatic conditions usually increase the life
span of animals or even plants by more than 20 percent. This is very reason the people back in the
1700s all the way to the late 1800s used to live long and they were not really exposed to the kind of
diseases that people are currently exposed to (Letcher, T. M, 49).

19th Century Gender Roles
Gender roles and stereotypes are nothing new in human society and can be traced back to the earliest
known human civilizations like the Aztecs and the Mayans where men and women preformed specific
tasks in order for their societies to thrive and flourish. Men and women equally farmed and took care
of the family, both fulfilling the role as provider and nurturer (Robin 409). So there is a bit of
confusion as to how somewhere down the line, 19th century civilizations diverged so far away from
the original gender roles laid out by our ancestors. The industrial revolution caused a dramatic
differentiation in the gender roles of men and women, particularly in the upper and middle class
societies (Gonäs 92). During this time men and women were thought to have had completely different
biological natures which people saw as meaning different roles in society. ... Show more content on

The Struggles And Inequalities Of Mexican Americans
In the educational setting, Mexican Americans have faced discrimination, segregation, and inequality
for many years. This paper discusses the struggles and inequalities that Mexican Americans have
faced in education. I will focus on different educational time periods and discuss the problems and
struggles that occurred in those time periods. The time periods that I give focus to include education in
the Spanish Mexican era (1519 1848), education and early Anglo rule in the Southwest (1836 1890),
the expansion of American education (1890 1960), and education in the contemporary period (1960
present). Education in the Spanish Mexican era lasted from 1519 until 1848. During this period,
education occurred in informal and formal settings and was aimed towards the Indian population, who
were Spanish subjects. Education in informal settings was the general norm and the most important
informal settings were missions, presidios, and civilian settlements. The purpose of educating the
Indians was to substitute their identity with a Spanish one and to also teach them the acceptance of
their social relegation. The way the Spanish did this was by teaching the Indians literacy, music, the
Catholic faith, Spanish manners, and by repressing their indigenous religious and social beliefs
(Kloosterman 2). Education and the early Anglo rule in the Southwest lasted from 1836 until 1890.
From 1836 to about 1850, formal education took place in schools that were founded by the Catholic
Church.

Safety Gears In American Football
Have you ever thrown a pigskin before? Well I have. It is important to stay safe playing the best sport,
football. Clearly American football is safe because the players wear safety gear, learn to tackle
properly, and stretch before and after a playing period. The first reason is safety gear makes football
more safe because of the following. The helmet goes on a player s head they are made up of
polycarbonate shells. That is safe because the helmets have big pads inside the shell to support the
head on contact. The the next reason that safety gear is safe is the shoulder pads. The shoulder pads
help because they make the player lower their shoulder so they don t get hurt/injured. The pads go on
the shoulders and chest of a player. The shoulder pads protect the player from fractured bones in the
upper body area. A neck roll will go on a player s shoulder pads and around their neck. It helps the
neck and head because when the player gets hit in the head the neck roll will stop their helmet from
bending backwards. Another reason that makes football safe is PROPER tackling. First the player will
have to slow down and chop their feet to mimic the ball carrier. This will help them tackle the runner.

Nick Carraway In The Great Gatsby
July 15/2015
As I began reading the novel The Great Gatsby I was introduced to many important characters. First
off I met Nick Carraway the self proclaimed narrator of the story. Nick is a young man who moved
from Minnesota to the city of New York to learn the bond business. I learned that Nick studied at Yale
and served time in World War One. Nick describes himself as an honest man, who does not judge onto
others however contradicts himself when he says he is highly moral and has a stronger dignity than
others. Nicks character really intrigues me because although what he says about his personality, I
believe by the end of the novel he will be changed man and become a different person. This can be
perceived early on because in chapter two he ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She is described as a beautiful young woman. Born and raised in Louisville Kentucky, Daisy was
wealthy and rich from childhood. Nick describes her as charming yet shallow. Much like the other
characters and society in New York, Daisy is careless and only cares about money and power. Thus
when she married her husband Tom she was aware of his wealth and power. Honestly, in all opinions
Daisys character makes me mad. Not only is she a selfish person she is also very materialistic, it is
hard to believe that this is Gatsbys love. Lastly, the character I am most intrigued by is the mysterious
Jay Gatsby. For some reason, Gatsby has become my favourite character. Maybe it is because of the
extravagant parties he throws, or maybe it is because of his mystery, however all I know is I have
become entrapped in Gatsby. For the first chapters of the book Gatsby is mentioned by others but is
not present. Many rumours and gossip circle about Gatsby, he could even be described as type of
celebrity . He can be told as a young man around thirty years old living the American dream . He is
wealthy, and is among the new money members in long island. Gatsby has great hopes and desires yet
to be discovered because of his under

Campus Area Wireless Network Proposal
CAMPUS AREA WIRELESS NETWORK PROPOSAL ( UITM MACHANG ) This proposal
recommends the implementation of Project CAWN (Campus Area Wireless Network) at the
University Teknologi Mara, Kelantan branch. The following information and recommendations are
necessary for the university to stay on the cutting edge of today s campus technology 1.0
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY The Information Technology Department, UiTM Kelantan has indicated
that wireless access improvements are important to students. Specifically, both the 2008/2009
2009/2010 surveys reports show the expansion of the wireless service requiring attention. This trend is
expected to continue as the proliferation of students with mobile devices increases. Currently, the

Additional VLANs configured on these access points will require encryption (keys delivered through
the authentication process) and will not be advertised via beacon broadcasts. In this model, when users
activate their wireless network interface, the general use VLAN will be automatically listed as an
available connection. Connections to other available networks (such as department VLANs) will have
to be explicitly requested by the user in order to gain access. It should be noted that in order to provide
a cost effective centrally managed service it is likely that wireless access points from a single vendor
will be required. 3.3 Coverage Area The buildings highlighted in red represent where some level of
wireless coverage will be available at the end of the project. Not all buildings will have the same level
of coverage. Outdoor areas and main thoroughfares will be deployed depending on wireless access
available in surrounding buildings Figure 3.1: UiTM Kelantan Campus Map [pic] 3.4 Buildings and
Classrooms The Cisco Aironet 1200 Series Access Point will be used for this project. These access
points will be placed on the ceilings of hallways, classrooms, and study lounges in order, to maximize
connection rates. There are ten buildings on campus will be able to be part of CAWN project. Our
focus is classrooms, study lounges, and outside areas with high density student and faculty

Essay on Utilitarian vs Nihilist
The Batman versus The Joker, your typical good versus evil, a conflict that has long held humanity s
interest. It raises the question, though, of what defines goodness and what makes something evil.
Often the differentiation is based on morals, which prove to be the subject of discussion for
philosophers when they re going over ethics. This differentiation is also what can be given credit for
why good versus evil is so compelling, in media the line between good and evil is often blurred in
some places, requiring the viewer to make their own judgement on the ethics of characters, their
actions, and their motivations. Depending on the ethics of the viewer characters can be judged on
different criteria, for some it is only the intention of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While that is the basics of utilitarian ethics, Bentham does go on to elaborate further on the criterion
one must apply to pleasure in order to determine its value. 1. Its intensity. [How much pleasure it
brings.] 2. Its duration. [How long the pleasure lasts] 3. Its certainty or uncertainty [The sureness that
the pleasure will result] 4. Its propinquity or remoteness. [How many people it benefits] (Perry 459)
Once the value of the pleasure is determined one must also take into consideration the probability that
it will be followed by a negative feeling, the number of people for whom the pleasure will be less or
more pleasurable, and finally the overall number of people who are affected. To be ethical, one must
act in accordance with the principle of utility. A person is ethical if they commit actions that bring
pleasure, the more pleasure to the more people the better the action is considered. This form of ethics
disregards motive and therefor allows for lying,

Speech On Children With Disabilities

Children with disabilities
Research Question:
Why does it become difficult for the most of parents to accept their children with disabilities?
Literature Review:
Being told that your child has a disability can be traumatizing. Many parents get stunned by such
news. Receiving such a message can produce overwhelming emotions of shock, disbelief, anxiety, fear
and despair. Within that moment, research has shown that some parents cannot distinguish between
the unconscious wish for an idealized normal child from an unthinkable, sudden reality of one who is
not. Life of people with disabilities is not an easy life to have. There are many challenges that they
have to face in their everyday lives. These challenges do not exist ... Show more content on

Facing daily discrimination in the form of negative attitudes, lack of adequate policies and legislation,
they are effectively barred from realizing their rights to healthcare, education, and even survival.
Estimates suggest that there are at least 93 million children with disabilities in the world, but numbers
could be much higher. They are often likely to be among the poorest members of the population. They
are less likely to attend school, access medical services, or have their voices heard in society. Their
disabilities also place them at a higher risk of physical abuse, and often exclude them from receiving
proper nutrition or humanitarian assistance in emergencies. When parents learn that their child has a
disability or a chronic illness, they begin a journey that takes them into a life that is often filled with
strong emotion, difficult choices, interactions with many different professionals and specialists, and an
ongoing need for information and services.
Initially, parents may feel isolated and alone, and not know where to begin their search for
information, assistance, understanding, and support. When parents learn about any difficulty

Collage Discovery
When I was seven years old I made a huge discovery about science. I realized that everything that
surrounds me; the tree in my yard, the house that I live in, and the chair that I am sitting in right now
are made of the same exact materials that I am made of! I made this discovery whilst I was discussing
science with my dad. Earlier that day, at school we had been talking about molecules and how they
were made of atoms. My dad often likes to extend my understanding of subjects which I study at
school, which is what he was doing that day. Since we had discussed atoms and molecules in school
my dad had decided to go a little further with me, and talk about what atoms were made of. This led us
to the subject of protons, neutrons and electrons. Over the course of the next few days he taught me
the basics of what I have now come ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

did everyday. I rushed over to him and asked him when we could talk, Later, be patient he replied. I
opened the car door, and jumped in, closing the door after myself. My dad got into the car, and we
started on the short drive home. The whole ride I was bouncing up and down in my seat in
anticipation. When I finally got home, my dad gave in to me and said we could talk about string
theory. We sat down and he explained string theory to me. He then explained how strings could be

Infant Attachment Report
Every infant acts a different way and can have different kinds of attachment. Babies can show signs of
secure attachment, insecure avoidant, insecure resistant, or insecure disorganized/disoriented
attachment behaviors. There are all kinds of personalities, environments, and genes that mold the
babies relationships and attachment with the parents. I have observed three different adult and baby
pairs in the store, in my in laws home, and at the park. The first pair I witnessed was a mom and it
looked to be her 8 month year old baby. She was holding the baby as she was walking around looking
at items, and the baby was very content. When a stranger walked up to the baby, the baby just stared
with no expression. That same stranger started baby talking to the baby and the baby didn t cry or look
concerned. In my observation I came to the conclusion that the baby shows signs of secure attachment
which is defined as the healthy type of attachment between an infant and a caregiver. It is indicated
when the infant seeks contact with the caregiver, clings, and is soothed by the caregiver; and when the
infant uses the caregiver as a safe base exploring unfamiliar environments (Cook 183.). This proves
my assumption because the baby was curious by looking at the environment and the stranger next to
him as he was soothed and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Filipinos have positive traits that mark us one of the most commendable people on earth. The
following good habits make the Filipinos great people and the Philippines an abundant country.
Hospitability is one of the popular traits of Filipinos. We are usually friendly and welcoming to our

to make the bad decision instead. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration says that, Every

There are many ways to have fun without the use of alcohol in their systems. Others tend to binge
drink because it is fun and cool. When in reality it is not cool to binge drink. Binge drinking is when a
person consumes a large amount of alcohol in one taking. This is not good because just about 90% of
the alcohol consumed by youth under the age of 21 in the United States is in the form of binge drinks
(What is Binge). This is not healthy for under age minors to be consuming this much of alcohol this
can affect them in their health such as liver failure, and to making bad choices such as driving while
intoxicated. A bad example of binge drinking is when Allem says, I binge drink every chance I get and
to be honest I am disgusted with myself, but I cannot control my desire to do it.... If I drink too much
or drink certain drinks, I get breathless and go blotchy all over my body, but I continue to drink until I
am so exhausted I fall asleep.... I am not sure that I am strong enough to quit my stupidity (What is
Binge). Binge Drinking does not make anyone cool, it makes them repulsive and mortifying. Drinking
excessive amounts of alcohol until passing out is not a smart idea because they can die from alcohol
poisoning. Alcohol overdose causes even more severe depressant effects, inability to feel pain, toxicity
where the body vomits the poison, and finally unconsciousness or, worse, coma or death from severe
toxic overdose (What is). The solution to binge drinking would be is do not do it. It is not safe and
very dangerous. The smart idea about drinking would be counting the drinks that have been
consumed, drinking water constantly so that they do not dehydrate and making the right decision of
not driving. Others tend to make the decision to drive and things do not end up so

Multiple Themes In Maus By Art Spiegelman
In the graphic novel, Maus, written by Art Spiegelman, there are multiple themes present throughout
the comics. One in particular, that becomes very repetitive, is the theme of how the way one was
treated in his or her past can influence the way they treat others in the present. This theme is evident
on page 45, where Artie and Vladek are eating dinner. During their meal, Vladek notices that his son is
not eating everything that is on his plate. Vladek then states, So it has to be, always you must eat all
what is on your plate (Spiegelman 45). The only reason why Vladek was so harsh on his son for not
eating all that was given to him was because when he was younger, his parents would force him to eat
everything on his plate, regardless if

Portrayal Of Happiness In Disney Films
Happiness is not just a feeling; it is a desire that one must have a drive for. As shown in Disney films,
love cannot be compared to reality. In order to have a relationship, the couple must have trust, honesty,
commitment, and most importantly, communication within the relationship. One must accept their
selves before venturing off into the world, looking for love to consider their selves as happy . In
reality, there is no fairy godmother there to make difficult situations disappear/make two people fall in
love with one another. People should care about how love is portrayed in Disney films because their
daughters may expect the same treatment and become emotionally damaged. This issue matters
because no one should be misled by what the media depicts. This topic is significant to culture
because it teaches young ladies to always love their selves first before deciding to love a young man.
Disney films generally portray happiness as existing in marriage or coupling, whereas real happiness
is achieved internally, and people shouldn t ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Real Estate Market Of 2008 Is Notorious For Sparking...
The real estate market in 2008 is notorious for sparking one of the largest housing bubbles in history.
In order to understand the housing market during the bubble you need to recognize the events that
caused it. This was simply an economical failure from the hands of some of the most well known
financial institutions and the Government. Going back to 1997 to 2006, if you take a look at the Case
Shiller Home Price Index (the leading indicator for the US housing market residential prices), you will
discover a rise in nominal home prices of 188%. Although there is not a lot of consensus that uncovers
what sparked the housing bubble, countless people have spoken their opinion in regards to this:
misguided monetary policy; government policies pushing home ownership, consumer speculation of
rising home prices, and lower housing supply. These examples can t fully explain the crash, but they
can provide insight as to what may have happened or at least contributed to it. This article goes into
depth on some of the explanations to the housing bubble and how the burst of it eventually led to the
credit crisis which sparked the entire recession in 2008. Starting back in 1997 when the residential
prices began to appreciate into 2003, the rising home prices can be examined through economic
fundamentals. These fundamentals explain the price of buying a home in relation to rentals and
interest rates meaning that the housing market was not overvalued. Post 2003 2004, the

Artificial Reef Paper
The goals of this paper were to bring to light the results of the way divers felt after exploring artificial
reefs. And how they would perceive new projects of reef building in the Red Sea in Eilat Israel. Coral
deaths and bleaching are caused mostly by people who just wish to admire the reefs in their natural
state. With no destructive intentions. The outcome of the study shows us that the artificial reefs were
well looked upon by the divers due to experience they had while diving on the artificial compared to
the natural reefs around them. The article tell us what it is about the artificial reefs that attract divers,

But then goes on to explain how any disaster could be avoided by zoning , which is the method of
allowing people to experience only a slice of what a reef has to offer rather than letting the ecotourists
roam free while heightening the possibility of coral damage that could be irreversible. An apparent
solution to the fight between the economic battle and the ecological threats is building artificial reefs
right next to natural reefs to divert divers away from the natural ones. Artificial reefs made up of large
vehicles underwater is sure to draw attention and damage away from the natural reef. This has extreme
benefits to ocean conservation and ecotourism.
The methods used in Eilat, Israel were to provide a more diverse diving experience and redirect divers
away from the fragile natural corals. Over the years that artificial reefs have been established along the
coast of Eilat, some for divers entertainment and some for research, It attracts more European tourists
and they by extension learn about how their activity could be detrimental to the natural corals while
they enjoy an artificial

Analysis Of Persepolis 2
In Persepolis 2, Marjane is set on a journey of self discovery while living away from her home in Iran
to escape the war. She experiences many obstacles varying from finding her self identity heartbreak
and isolation. All of these obstacles would eventually lead to a very confident Marjane. MArjane lives
in Vienna for most of her adolescence and so it is at this time that she is truly on a journey of finding
who she is as a person and developing herself. Upon living in Vienna, Marjane discovered that Vienna
is very different from her home of Iran and because of this, she assimilated herself into this new
society while distancing herself from her Iranian culture. In her final days of living in Vienna she
becomes homeless and it wasn t until this moment that she is notified that she is welcome to come
back home to Iran. When she returns home to Iran she discovers that not only has she herself changed,
but also how much her home of Iran has changed as well. Modern Iran is similar to Marjane,
regarding their similar journey of self discovery and the many challenges that they have both faced. It
is apparent how much Marjane is discriminated against during her time of living in Vienna. There
were many instances that she faced some sort of discrimination or judgment from others. For example,
when she first arrived in Vienna, she lived in a un boarding house and one
Luevano 2 day she decided to eat pasta from a bowl in front of the television. The nuns were not
accepting of this and began insulting her for being Iranian questioning why iranians are uneducated.
This wasn t the only time that Marjane was discriminated against while living in Vienna. It wasn t
until she faced these discriminatory actions that she truly felt like distancing herself from her Iranian
culture. Because of this she felt the need to assimilate herself into a completely different person, such
as wearing punk style clothing and cutting her hair. Not only was MArjane discriminated against
because of her ethnicity, but also because she was woman. Once she returned to her home of Iran, she
faced the sexist and misogynistic laws that are prevalent in Iran. It is stated in the Funk Wagnalls New
World Encyclopedia that The major obstacle to

  • 2. Kant s Theory Of Space And Time In Kant s Prolegomena, he states that space and time are pure intuitions. Kant s assimilation of space and time relates to his idea of contingency and how necessity is not derived from experience. In this essay I will give the premises for Kant s statement in relation to space and time being pure intuitions in order to make his argument salient. I will also disambiguate definitions that are involved in the premise; and information on the basis of Kant s understanding of pure and empirical intuitions regarding space and time. Then after a concise explanation of his argument, I will object to it by reconstructing his argument and showing the skepticism of space and time being from pure intuitions. Finally, I will give a possible response on behalf of Kant that ties his concept of space and time existing in a form of pure intuitions. The premises in regards to Kant s claim are; (1) If we omit from the empirical intuitions of bodies and their alternations...everything empirical, belonging to sensation, space and time still remains. (Prolegomena 10, pg. 25). (2) The difference between similar and equal things which are not congruent, cannot be made intelligible by any concept, by only by the relation to the right and left hands, which immediately refers to intuitions. (Prolegomena 13, pg. 28). The necessary terms to know in order to understand this particular claim are; Empirical, which mean s derived from experience , and Pure which means not derived from experience. On ... • 3. The Importance Of Toxic Leadership The Corps of the Noncommissioned Officer (NCO) has been around since the formation of the Continental Army in 1775. The basic responsibility of the NCO was to fill gaps in the lines and keep soldiers quiet on mission while leading (Perkioniemi, 2009). Currently, the responsibilities of the NCO focus on soldier welfare and accomplishing the mission (NCO Creed). Toxic leadership is a serious concern for the military, and it is undermining the reputation of the NCO Corps. What is toxic leadership, how can it be addressed, and what will happen to the Corps if it is allowed to continue? Toxic leadership as defined by Wilson (2014) is a combination of self centered attitudes, motivations, and behaviors that have adverse effects on subordinates, the organization, and mission performance . NCOs, just as civilians, range from poor leaders to excellent leaders; but when does poor leadership become toxic leadership and what causes this toxic leadership? Not every soldier is born to lead. Some soldiers are bad decision makers, poor time managers, or just unable to inspire confidence in their fellow soldiers. There is nothing wrong with being a follower if you are a competent individual who can perform the given tasks. A NCO who cannot step up and lead is not a toxic leader, they are a bad leader. With education and training NCOs with poor leaderships skills develop into competent leaders. Toxic leadership is a result of narcissistic leaders, individuals who have an ... Maximizing Naitonal Security Through Foreign Policy Foreign policy can be understood as a set of political goals that aims to outline how a particular state will interact with others For Beach (2012), Foreign policy actions can be undertaken using a variety of different instruments, ranging from adopting declarations, making speeches, negotiating treaties, giving other states economic aid, engaging in diplomatic activity such as summits, and the use of military force . No matter which instruments are used, the primary objective of states in outlining their foreign policies is to maximise their national security. As such, states go about maximising national security through different means such as by military force, economic prosperity and/or the welfare of its people. However, it has been ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... States within the international system are said to be existing under the same conditions as there is no effective overarching authority mediating disputes between nations (Waltz 1979). Realists argue that states are compelled to seek power in order to ensure their own security. They posit that the primary national interest of all states is national security. Though there have been different strands of realism within IR theory, they are all united in their subscriptions to the concepts of survival and self help (Dunne Schmidt, 2011). Due to realists depicting the international realm as anarchic, the first priority of state leaders is to ensure the survival of the state. Because there is no guarantee that states can ensure their safety from external threats, the use of force which can escalate to war is seen as a legitimate tool of statecraft such force can be used to start wars or be used as an element of coercive diplomacy (Art Cronin, 2003). For realists, the possibility of states using force against one another is ever present, generating insecurity between them. But anarchy is not the only factor that generates insecurity between states. First, most states possess some form of offensive capability which they can use against rivals. Second, ... • 5. Osi Model Michael Rauseo IT310 OSI Model In the early years of computer and network research and development many systems were designed by a number of companies. Although each system had its rights and were sold across the world, it became apparent as network usage grew, that it was difficult, to enable all of these systems to communicate with each other. In the early 1980s, the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) recognized the need for a network model that would help companies create common network implementations. The OSI reference model, released in 1984, addresses this need. The OSI reference model became the primary architectural model for communications. Although other architectural models have ... • 6. Essay on The Drowned and the Saved, by Primo Levi In looking back upon his experience in Auschwitz, Primo Levi wrote in 1988: ?It is naïve, absurd, and historically false to believe that an infernal system such as National Socialism (Nazism) sanctifies its victims. On the contrary, it degrades them, it makes them resemble itself.? (Primo Levi, The Drowned and the Saved, 40). The victims of National Socialism in Levi?s book are clearly the Jewish Haftlings. Survival in Auschwitz, a book written by Levi after he was liberated from the camp, clearly makes a case that the majority of the Jews in the lager were stripped of their human dignity. The Jewish prisoners not only went through a physical hell, but they were psychologically driven under as well. Levi writes, ??the Lager was a great ... They become very haggardly and often have difficulty in judging each other?s age. Acquisition of a sufficient amount of food becomes a daily struggle, and for those who do not rise to the occasion ultimately parish. After a certain time period, it is impossible to survive unless you become an ?Organisator, Kombinator, or a Prominent? (Levi, 89). Levi writes, ?We have learnt the value of food; now we also diligently scrape the bottom of the bowl after the ration and we hold it under our chins when we eat bread so as not to lose the crumbs? (Levi, 33). A prisoner could only survive on a normal ration for around 3 months at best. Starving to death was not the main reason to acquire an adequate amount of food. The selections had to be avoided. If a prisoner was too weak to work, he was destined for the gas chambers. In the book Levi mentions a man named Elias, who is a cunning thief and adept worker: ?? who is this man Elias. • 7. Black Tar Heroin Epidemic Analysis One of the only foreseeable problems of truth is the representation of the heroin epidemic as just that an epidemic. Many people see heroin abuse as a choice which it is, initially and a crime that should be punished, not necessarily treated. Hopefully, conversations with law enforcement and medical professionals can provide objective, expert opinions that will balance with firsthand accounts that the audience can empathize with. This approach will seek to strike a balance between the personal and the professional to minimize that problem of truth . Supporting assertions with evidence and expert testimony will put objectivity at the forefront of the documentary. Much of the documentary will be based around interviews: interviews with ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Black Tar Heroin (1999) is perhaps one of the best examples. Black Tar Heroin is an HBO piece that focuses on the lives of five addicted young people and the poor decisions that arise as a result of their abuse. While it gives some humanity to the issue of heroin addiction, it does not delve into the overarching, underlying causes of the heroin problem in the same way that Mistakes on the Lake will seek to. Mistakes on the Lake will be less of a slice of life piece, though it will emphasize that anyone can get addicted to heroin. In 2016, the PBS documentary series Frontline produced a two hour investigative episode called Chasing Heroin that sought to educate people about addiction and reach the root of the opioid problem. Mistakes on the Lake will focus more on the stories of individuals, and it will center specifically around the Northern Ohio region. Chasing Heroin focuses on the big picture , the nation at large. While the issue of heroin abuse and overdose obviously did not happen overnight, it is still a relatively new issue. Most of the literature surrounding heroin does not focus on the source of the epidemic and the real stories of those addicted to it. Fireworks outside the window were so loud that I could feel the floor was shaking. My parents and I were sitting on the couch and stared at the TV screen. No one was talking. This Chinese New Year was different from what it was like when I was a kid. When I was still in Elementary school, I looked forward to Chinese New Year the most. Afraid of missing any single movement the magician made, I would almost stick my nose against the TV screen, in hope to find out how the magician performed such a mind blowing magic. Since adults believed firing fireworks would bring good fortunes to the new year, the sky would be covered with fireworks during the night before Lunar New Year. My dad was a firm believer of such a superstition and enthusiastically joined the firework party every year. The day before Lunar New Year, my dad would take me on a trip looking for new fireworks. We always picked the biggest one we could find on the market. As the clock approached 12 pm, the firework party started. The silence of the night would be interrupted by the first sound of fireworks. Following the first sound of firework, thousands of fireworks shot up the sky and exploded into many colorful, beautiful patterns. My and I would also light up our firework to join the party. As a kid, the sight was as splendid as it could ever get. As the time approached 12 pm, the fireworks had only gotten louder than before. I stood up to get myself ready to light our fireworks. Literary Analysis of Chickamauga Swift 1 Samuel Swift English 2312 Dr. Chuck Jackson 02/10/2011 Ambrose Bierce s Twisted Naturalist Short Story Chickamauga The author of Chickamauga, Ambrose Bierce, created this short story as a naturalist visualization of the devastating effects that wars and battles had on the soldiers which fought in them. The short story Chickamauga is defined as naturalist literature because of the author s employment of specific literary techniques which define naturalism, such as the way the author gradually darkens the mood of the storyline as it progresses, the amount of description and attention paid to grisly and macabre details that shed wars in a whole new light, as well as the unfolding nature of the main character as the story ... Her father probably had good intentions when he caused his daughter to be poisonous. He did it as a means of protection, but this backfired, because the tendency of others to misunderstand Beatrice s complex makeup led them to unintentionally kill her. Each of the three men in Rappaccinni s Daughter wanted to mold Beatrice into something and each had his own idea of her identity, yet none of them looked at her subjectively. This is pointed out by Luedtke on page 188. When he (Giovanni) was unable to bring Beatrice rigidly and systematically within the realm of his own experience, and unwilling to risk a closer knowledge, Giovanni left the poison damsel to die in her own pleasure place. It is interesting to note Luedtke s use of the words pleasure place . This suggests that the poisonous garden was not the real problem or prison for Beatrice. An interesting point is revealed by Luedtke as he states, The author makes a late attempt to intertwine her poison and her purity, but the demonic and the angelic continue to occupy their separate spheres, the former of the body, the latter of the soul. • 17. Argumentative Essay On Animals Around twenty six million animals are used for scientific research every year in the United States alone. The animals are used solely for medical treatments, determining the toxicity of medications, checking the safety of products destined for human use, and many other biomedical, commercial, and healthcare uses. Researchers estimate animals have been used as test subjects since 500 B.C. According to Humane Society International, animal subjects are commonly forced fed, forced inhalation of chemicals, deprived of food and water, burned, and possibly killed. We as a nation need to begin a movement to stop testing products on defenseless animals (PETA). Researchers have found descriptions of live animals being dissected in ancient Greek writing dating back to 500 BC. Physician scientists such as Aristotle, Herophilus, and Erasistratus conducted experiments on animals to discover the functions of living organisms. Originally, vivisection, the dissection of a living organism, were performed on criminals in ancient Rome and Alexandria, however, in ancient Greece there were prohibitions against the mutilation of the human body which eventually led to the reliance on animals. The physicians each had their own opinions when it came to performing vivisections on animals. Aristotle believed that animals lacked intelligence and therefore the notions of justice and injustice did not apply to them. A successor to Aristotle, Theophrastus, disagreed stating that animals, like humans, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The impact of climate change has been felt and this has had a negative impact on the lives of animals and human beings (Baker, Judy World Bank., 3). The point also explains why developing country usually relies on foreign aid as means of sustaining their own economies. Initially animals used to have very long time span in that goats or even cattle could stay for years and yet they are still very productive. This has certainly changed as result of climatic changes. The animals used to live longer as a result of cold temperatures that used to slow down their rates of metabolism hence the longer life span. Temperatures today are very high as a result of climatic changes. The increased temperatures have actually led to increase in the metabolic rate of the animals hence the reduction in the life span. This explains why animals today cannot even live for more than five years and then remain productive all along as animals could live for a whole decade but still remain very productive. It is believed that the presence of favorable climatic conditions usually increase the life span of animals or even plants by more than 20 percent. This is very reason the people back in the 1700s all the way to the late 1800s used to live long and they were not really exposed to the kind of diseases that people are currently exposed to (Letcher, T. • 21. 19th Century Gender Roles Gender roles and stereotypes are nothing new in human society and can be traced back to the earliest known human civilizations like the Aztecs and the Mayans where men and women preformed specific tasks in order for their societies to thrive and flourish. Men and women equally farmed and took care of the family, both fulfilling the role as provider and nurturer (Robin 409). So there is a bit of confusion as to how somewhere down the line, 19th century civilizations diverged so far away from the original gender roles laid out by our ancestors. The industrial revolution caused a dramatic differentiation in the gender roles of men and women, particularly in the upper and middle class societies (Gonäs 92). This paper discusses the struggles and inequalities that Mexican Americans have faced in education. I will focus on different educational time periods and discuss the problems and struggles that occurred in those time periods. The time periods that I give focus to include education in the Spanish Mexican era (1519 1848), education and early Anglo rule in the Southwest (1836 1890), the expansion of American education (1890 1960), and education in the contemporary period (1960 present). Education in the Spanish Mexican era lasted from 1519 until 1848. During this period, education occurred in informal and formal settings and was aimed towards the Indian population, who were Spanish subjects. Education in informal settings was the general norm and the most important informal settings were missions, presidios, and civilian settlements. The purpose of educating the Indians was to substitute their identity with a Spanish one and to also teach them the acceptance of their social relegation. The way the Spanish did this was by teaching the Indians literacy, music, the Catholic faith, Spanish manners, and by repressing their indigenous religious and social beliefs (Kloosterman 2). Education and the early Anglo rule in the Southwest lasted from 1836 until 1890. From 1836 to about 1850, formal education took place in schools that were founded by the Catholic Church. ... MArjane lives in Vienna for most of her adolescence and so it is at this time that she is truly on a journey of finding who she is as a person and developing herself. Upon living in Vienna, Marjane discovered that Vienna is very different from her home of Iran and because of this, she assimilated herself into this new society while distancing herself from her Iranian culture. This wasn t the only time that Marjane was discriminated against while living in Vienna. It wasn t until she faced these discriminatory actions that she truly felt like distancing herself from her Iranian culture. Because of this she felt the need to assimilate herself into a completely different person, such as wearing punk style clothing and cutting her hair.
