Microorganisms
In this essay I will be analysing micro organisms and disease. Firstly I will be defining micro
organisms and then explaining the key features of the main categories of microorganisms. Followed
by the roles of commensals and pathogens I will then go on to explain how micro organisms are
transmitted and the routes of entry to and exit from the human body of micro organisms. I will also be
explaining the logical sequence of events that occur from entry of a micro organism to the body to the
appearance of symptoms of a disease and then go onto discuss why not all infections lead to a disease.
Finally I will explain a logical sequence the signs, symptoms and treatments of yellow fever which is
an infectious disease. Micro organisms are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Fungi such as mushroom, molds, and yeasts are eukaryotic cells with a true nucleus. Most fungi are
multicellular and their cell wall is composed of chitin. They obtain nutrients by absorbing organic
material from their environment decomposers, through symbiotic relationships with plants
(symbionts), or harmful relationships with a host (parasites). They form characteristic filamentous
tubes called hyphae that help absorb material. The collection of hyphae is called mycelium. Fungi
reproduce by releasing spores. Protozoa are unicellular aerobic eukaryotes. They have a nucleus,
complex organelles, and obtain nourishment by absorption or ingestion through specialized structures.
They make up the largest group of organisms in the world in terms of numbers, biomass, and diversity.
Their cell walls are made up of cellulose. Protozoa have been traditionally divided based on their
mode of locomotion: flagellates produce their own food and use their whip like structure to propel
forward, ciliates have tiny hair that beat to produce movement, amoeboids have false feet or
pseudopodia used for feeding and locomotion, and sporozoans are non motile. They also have
different means of nutrition, which groups them as autotrophs or heterotrophs. Viruses are noncellular
entities that consist of a nucleic acid core (DNA or RNA) surrounded by a protein coat. Although
viruses are classified as microorganisms, they are not considered living organisms. Viruses cannot

Reflective Reflection On Hinduism

Hinduism Reflection
Hinduism is a major world and oldest extant religion with a billion followers which started in the
Indian subcontinent. It has a variety of systems of philosophy, belief, and ritual, characterized by the
belief in reincarnation one absolute being of multiple manifestations, the law of cause and effect,
following the path of righteousness, and the desire for liberation from the cycle of births and deaths.
Hinduism refers to rich tradition of texts and practices, some of which date back to the second
millennium BC or possibly earlier. In the early 21st century, Hinduism had nearly one billion
adherents worldwide and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I do not want to make a case for either the monotheistic or polytheistic imagination and say that one is
better than the other. In healthy people both can fruitfully coexist, and both have their drawbacks. The
downside to the monotheistic imagination is a tendency toward one sided absolutism. It is crazy that
there are millions of Gods in Hinduism, but Christianity has only one. Hindus are encouraged to relate
to god in the way that suits them best, like worshipping many deities who are believed to be
manifestations of God. I think people believe in multiple Gods because just like an organization that
has different people who take up different roles, different Gods have different responsibilities.
Because gods aren t supported by evidence, people have to use their imagination to interpret their will,
which due to the absence of evidence, will vary from person to person, and nobody can demonstrate,
with evidence, that one person s imagined god id any more real than anyone else s imagined god. As
everyone knows that god is everywhere and watches us, and in Hinduism also they believe that god is
everywhere and in everything. So, the polytheistic imaginations in Hinduism makes sense since they
believe God is everywhere, Hindus worship pretty much everything like Stones, directions, plants,
animals

Who Is The Spinning Jenny And How Is It Significant To The...
In 1764, during the Industrial Revolution, the textiles industry changed forever when the first spinning
machine was invented. The Royal Society of Arts offered a prize for an invention that could spin six
threads at once but would only need one person to attend to it. One of the inventors that took to the
challenge was James Hargreaves, 1720 to 1778, who produced the Spinning Jenny, a machine that
mechanically reproduced the actions of the hand spinner. The Spinning Jenny was significant to the
development and progress of the Industrial Revolution and it also had a momentous impact on not
only yarn production but also people s lives, in particular people in England.
Significance to the Industrial Revolution (development, progress):

The 1764 invention, that wasn t patented until 1770, had eight smaller wheels, instead of one, which
allowed the operator to spin eight threads at the one time, as shown in source two. This modern day
sketch shows the design and construction of the Spinning Jenny and how all eight different spindles
were powered by a single wheel. This meant that one spinster could produce eight threads in the same
time it had previously taken to produce one. This advance in spinning machinery meant that the
quality and strength of yarn and cloth was greatly improved. Hargreaves invention best spun the short
fibres of regular length, such as cotton. The cotton yarn produced was considered to be of very good
quality. However, the wool yarn from the Spinning Jenny was quite unsatisfactory. This was due to the
irregular lengths which resulted in lumpy, uneven

John Stuart Mills Utilitarianism
John Stuart Mills believed in Utilitarianism which was a form of normative ethical theories.
Utilitarianism is based on the greatest happiness principle in that it rates actions good or bad based on
the greatest good or happiness caused as the consequence of said action. Actions are right in
proportion as they tend to promote happiness, wrong as they tend to produce the reverse of happiness
(John Stuart Mill.)
The Greatest Happiness Principle embraces that actions are right in degree as they have a tendency to
endorse happiness, wrong as they tend to create the opposite of happiness. Mill expresses that pleasure
and opportunities from hurt or unhappiness are the main thing that is wanted. Everything that is
attractive is wanted as a result

Analysis Of The Movie Orange Is The New Black
The Netflix original series, Orange Is the New Black takes a consumerist approach to sexuality, by
repetitively featuring sexual relations among inmates as a way to attract viewers. (Schwan) Orange Is
the New Black neglects to explore emotional attachment beyond a need to fulfill sexual needs and
minimize loneliness while in prison. Bisexual female characters, if given the opportunity, often leave
their female partner for a relationship with a male, downgrading the realism of an actual bisexual
lifestyle. Although lesbian activity is presented throughout, only women with this body type are
presented in a highly sexualized male gaze viewpoint. (TrierBieniek) The sexual relations presented
display an objectifying, exploitative portrayal of lesbian sexuality. (Schwan) Although, Orange Is the
New Black s cast is exceptionally diverse, the show only films sex scenes between slender inmates.
Ultimately, the show presents LGBTQ characters in a non threatening light, but features bisexuality as
a temporary sexual encounter of convenience.
Orange Is the New Black s prison setting follows a fictional trend of connecting female same sex
desire and mental and criminal pathology. (Filippo) The show s oversexed storyline reinforces society
s stereotypes and female prisoners: that they are violent, worthless, sex crazed monsters. (Cecil) Also,
illustrating bisexuality and other forms of deviant female sexuality are likened more to mental and
criminal deviance. (Filippo) The

The Material Flow And Variable Chances For Improvement
Abstract: Among the challenges faced by manufacturers in mean time, Improvement in material
efficiency and the impact of material on environment are given most priority. Presently, managements
mainly focus on maximizing outputs in economic terms but not on the damage caused due to
processing and disposal of material. Few methods can determine the product s impact on environment
but no method can assess the material efficiency in production system. This Journal Material Flow
Assessment in Manufacturing System shows the framework for effective material flow and variable
chances for improvement. Introduction: Resource Efficient Manufacturing (REM) focuses on reducing
production costs like labor, material, energy costs and to maximize profits, increasing output sales.
Certain tools for REM such as lean manufacturing and process optimization seems to be inadequate to
meet sustainability goals. Resources which has greater financial impact on business are mainly
focused by managers and given higher priority. Availability of resources is linked with other sources,
the degree of scarcity of certain source is specified to both region and season. Material Efficiency
Strategies: The provision of product with less material production has clear environmental benefits as
the decreased amount of material used in production will ultimately reduce the impact on
environment. MES are grouped as design changes and process changes. Material elimination,
minimization, reducing yield losses and

Untwine Analysis
The last huge piece of Untwine is how religion and hope can change a person. We learn right away
that the Boyer family goes to church every Sunday, and has much hope in God. But how that hope in
God fades away changes Giselle and her overall hope for happiness. One example of this is when
pastor Ben is telling the family that she will wake up. Like Lazarus. (pg 52). This message from pastor
Ben gave the reader a sense of the belief of the Boyers, and the hope they have in situations because of
their belief that everyone would have a chance to wake up and be heard. Another important thing to
realize was when Giselle said who would I be? Who could I be without her? (pg 51). This revealed
some of her feelings to God as she thought this. It ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The song The Firebird has a very fast moving, bipolar feel to it, which resembles Giselle s feeling
towards the situation of blaming God in my opinion. Another example of her feelings to God is when
Giselle says their thinking nothing bad can ever happen to them (pg 51). It showed her overall
lementation with her mind, but also with God. Giselle clearly chooses to blame her sisters death on
anyone, as she chooses to blame it on one of the biggest people in her life that she keeps her hope and
faith in. Maybe Giselle chooses to do this because she can t think of the real person to blame. Maybe
she chooses to do this because she s too afraid to come to the true reality of her situation and her silent
grief is too much for her to handle, so she needs support to get through everything. And maybe
everything is just blaming who she can. But Giselle chooses to blame God, and God is where her and
her family put their hope. When Giselle talks about their being more invisible places than visible one
she touches the thought that maybe that s where she s been looking for. The more invisible places than
visible ones, as an escape with Isabelle, but also a prayer for God, as she needs God to do something

How Does Mortal Relationships Be Recognized By The...
In Cuba, there exists such a paradigm, by which many of the religions there are analyzed by. It even
extends to the limit of verifying whether or not a practice should be recognized by the government and
general population solely because of certain precepts that exist within the religion s infrastructure.
Creating a great divide between those who follow religions which are respected by the community and
those who follow religions eschewed by the same community. Such model holds true for the sects:
Regla de Ocha and Regla de Palo.

One method being cowrie shells (Mason, 18). The meticulous and strategically thrown cowrie shells

Switching over to Regla de Palo, we see that this relationship seems a lot more strained and possessive
than one of Regla de Ocha. A major reason why many Cuban officials (and many laypeople) choose to
not outwardly partake in this religion is because of its known ability to backfire on those who are
followers, since they generally use the spirits for personal gain. A relationship with a spirit in Rela de
Ocha is similar to one of great abuse if we were to humanize the two parties. The spirit or muerto is
trapped in either a bottle or nganga and works for the person who wields the object of entrapment. The
main way a palero (priest) of Regla de Ocha establishes a relationship with a spirit is through the
collection of the bones of a passed priestess or priest. The process of obtaining bones from a person
not directly related to you is illegal in Cuba; however, exhumed skeletons which are claimed in time
are generally sold to paleros in search of new muertos to help them prosper. Since these disturbed

What Is Strategy
Sarah Carpentier 2016_PG41_07 Strategic Management

Executive summary « What is strategy ? » Porter
Operational effectiveness is not strategy
First of all, we have to distinguish two concepts: operational effectiveness from strategy.
Operational effectiveness is of course necessary for a company, but it is not sufficient: each company
needs its own strategy.
A strategy is a plan for the company, which has to establish a difference with its competitors, and has
to preserve it in order to create a greater value. Strategy positioning is choosing different ways to
achieve similar activities from the competitors.
Operational effectiveness means performing similar activities better than the competitors can do.
We now have to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Choosing a strategy is choosing a different set of activities from its competitors, it is trying to be
different from them. Strategic positions can be based on 3 sources :
variety based positioning in which the company produce a subset of an industry s products or services
needs based positioning in which the company satisfy all needs of a segment of customers
access based positioning in which the company satisfy different segment of customers according to
their customer geography or customer scale.
Strategy positioning can be define as a difference on the supply side, that is to say a difference in
activities. By choosing a strategy, the company chooses a unique and valuable position, with different
activities from its competitors.
A sustainable strategic position requires trade offs
Nonetheless, defining a unique position can t be sufficient, because the competitors can copy this
position (they can reposition themselves or they can straddle).
Each company has to take into consideration an important point: the risk of trade off. They occur
when a company tries to perform incompatible activities. Due to trade off, the companies have to
make some

Edmund Iago And Richard III Character Analysis
Shakespeare created the new style of villains he shows the battle between the good and evil side of
human soul. Shakespeare gave more human qualities to a villain than it was already shown in sixteen
century s plays. Shakespeare s villain like Edmund, Iago and Richard iii express their intentions and
motives in the soliloquy effectively. Soliloquy helps them to build a connection with audience while
explaining their motives (Jones, 2010) Edmund was the brother of Edgar, he goes onany heights to
achieve his goals and also deceived his father and brother. He is strong and had a great mind which
can easily analyse the situations (Lofgren, 2010). His extreme egoism compels him to use his social
disadvantage as an excuse for honorable self advancements. His plot was motivated by his egoism and
his thirst for power. Edmund was the cold blooded opportunist and wouldn t miss a chance to
manipulate Lear political issues in his favor. He had no family feeling that s why he gets rid of his
brother firstly and then deceived his father. The show of sympathy and nobility in the end of play was
rather hypocrisy by Edmund (Sadowski, 2015).Like all the villains Edmund had a common trait of
unchangeable character and had no development in his character. The main causes of his evil deeds ...

Twelfth Night Analysis Essay
Shakespeare Scene Analysis
In Twelfth Night Olivia s objective as the scene begins is to tease and to taunt this strange man who
has come to her home and is giving her servants a hard time. She has people coming to her door to
praise her often, but this one is different and because he won t leave she wants to laugh with Maria
and tease him. This objective changes however as the scene progresses. This man Cesario begins to
interest Olivia as he struggles to get this message out from his lord. When Cesario begins spouting the
poetry of what he would say if he loved Olivia, Olivia completely falls in love with him, then her
objective becomes to charm and to learn more about him. Olivia faces the challenge of Cesario being
so determined and his refusal to just get the message out and over with. She then faces the challenge
of falling for someone who isn t immediately drawn to her. Cesario doesn t fall at her feet like most
men do and she doesn t know who he is or where he came from, but she wants to. At the end her
obstacle is to figure out a way to get Cesario to come back, and not with more words of love from
Orsino. One moment in my script where I made a conscious creative choice regarding the language is
when Olivia talks about giving out divers schedules of her beauty and lists item, two lips indifferent

Immigration, Offshoring And American Jobs Essay

Immigration
In 2014, President Obama claimed, For more than 200 years, our tradition of welcoming immigrants
from around the world has given us a tremendous advantage over other nations. It s kept us youthful,
dynamic, and entrepreneurial. It has shaped our character as a people with limitless possibilities
(Office of the Press Secretary, 2014). What makes the United States the United States? Our country s
success and culture comes from the power of immigrants. But this is not to brag about our historical
foundation, rather talk about immigration being a significant variable in our economy. First,
immigration brings creative ideas to the American economy. Immigrants bring their culture from their
homelands, and it strengthens the population by enriching their ideas (Kelly, 2013). In addition, it
creates more jobs. The study, Immigration, Offshoring and American Jobs by Professor Ottaviano of
Bocconi University and Professor Peri of the UC Davis, notes that low skilled immigrants usually fill
gaps in American labor markets and generally enhance domestic business prospects rather than
destroy jobs (Cowen, 2010). In addition, immigrants including the unauthorized people create jobs
through their purchasing power and entrepreneurship. (American Immigration Council, 2015).
According to the Economic Report of the President, immigration added roughly 0.2 percent to GDP:
$31.4 billion (American Immigration Council, 2015). To sum it up, a study by the

My New Political Ideology A population s views on political issues may change as different

political science class has influenced my political ideology. When this class initially began I was sure,

As I stated in my last paper, schooling is very important to the success of our country. Although there
are people that will argue that school should not be mandatory if the family must send there children
to work to provide money for housing, I would have to disagree. Since there are social programs for
providing food and shelter, education should not be neglected. When education is neglected, those
children have a chance of becoming burdens to society rather than benefits. School develops leaders
and followers of society, and provides a structure for those who may need it in their lives. After a
semester in political science class, I found that many of the liberals in my class did not know very
much about the issues that made them liberals. Since the class is an introduction to the American
political system, that fact did not bother me as much as it normally would. Since the issue of media
was hot topic to talk about, I thought that most of the students in my class had realized the medias bad
reviews of conservatives. Unfortunlty that was not the case, Most of students denied that the media
was liberal until proven to them. I cannot blame the students in my class for the things they have been
taught by television. A lack of education is to blame for that problem. By now you know that media is
one of the issues that I have added to my new paper. I found that the media has made many individuals

Imagine Dragons is an amazing band because of their variety of music. To some extent, it does not
matter what style of music you like, there will be a song they have written you will enjoy. They range
from alternative rock, to indie pop, electropop, indie rock and pop rock. Their songs can be upbeat,

Othello s Influence On The World Of Opera
Verdi s Othello has had a profound influence on the world of opera, and considered by many critics to
be his best work. Othello has been performed throughout the world, debuting in over 25 countries
within the first fifty years of its creation (Stanford). It has been performed all over the globe by world
renowned operettists, in theatres such as the Lincoln Center in New York, the Sydney Opera House in
Sydney, and the Bolshoi in Russia. Othello is about a general who is led to believe his wife is cheating
on him, when in reality she is not, and deceived by Iago, a man he trusted. Othello has two love duets
between the same characters, but with very different moods and relationships, which are portrayed
through the dialogue, the stage actions, and most importantly the musical strategies employed.
The opera Othello was written by Verdi, one of the most prominent opera writers in the late 1800 s. He
was born in 1813 in northern Italy, however, most of his work took place in Milan, Italy. This is
where, on February 5th of 1887, Othello was first performed, at the Teatro alla Scala (Stanford). Verdi
s opera Othello is based off of Shakespeare s play Othello, which was written in 1622. Verdi based
many of his operas off of Shakespeare s plays, such as his opera

Macbeth, first performed in 1847, and his opera Falstaff, based on the play The Merry Wives of

to sense an opportunity and innovate to succeed (Baan 2010, p. 23; Eppink 2010). This burning desire
for innovation was a fundamental cornerstone in both The Baan Company in the past, and Cordys
nowadays. He himself stated that he expected his enterprises to be trend setters and not followers
(Baan 2005, p.123). Specifically, in the case of Cordys, Baan detected that the software industry
required an agile consumer driven innovation (Eppink 2010). Indeed, innovation is crucial if a small
firm wants to grow and be successful (Barringer and Ireland 2010). Furthermore supportive networks
developed around clusters could boost innovation (Burns 2007, p70). Interestingly, this was also true
for Jan Baan, who in early stages involved his brother, and simultaneously built up a close network in
his home country, the Netherlands. Hence, from the last paragraph, as a

What Are Emily Dickinson s Accomplishments
The Life, Works, and Achievements of Emily Dickinson
On December 10th, 1830, Emily Norcross Dickinson and Edward Dickinson gave birth to a beautiful
baby girl named Emily Elizabeth Dickinson (Poets). Little did any of them know that Emily
Dickinson would be a famous poet who continues to move people with her words to this day! Though
Emily Dickinson wouldn t receive any awards for her poetry, she is easily one of the most inspiring
and touching poets of all time. During her life, she wrote almost 1800 poems, but only about 12 were
published. Dickinson s fame only came after her death, but fame never seemed to be something she
wanted anyways (EmilyDickinsonMuseum).

Emily Dickinson before running into a lawsuit with the Dickinson family. This caused Todd to lose a
bit of land and put a stop to Emily s poems being published, but eventually Todd was back to
publishing Emily s poems. Soon enough, Todd had published almost all of Emily s poems. In 1955,
Thomas H. Johnson took Emily Dickinson s poems put all of them in chronological order and then
published it as a complete book of all her poems known as The Poems of Emily Dickinson . Then,
Ralph W. Franklin published another version of The Poems of Emily Dickinson that had correct

Argumentative Essay On Religion And Death
http://www.bbc.com/news/world latin america 41804243
Religion and death are inseparable; religion is a guiding line from life to death and past it. There is
evidence all over Mexico, which shows the first rituals to celebrate and honor the dead. Humanity is
shaped deeply by religion and religion is shaped by society. Religion is used to construct and
understand the world, including death. The preservation of the dead since ancient times shows the
importance which was placed on the body and the need for the body to be intact when moving to the
next realm.
This belief of the next realm is the critical point of faith. Believing there is something after death
means there is a need to be validated by saints. This validation is crucial when transcending to the next

Pablo Escobar created a certain atmosphere in which Sicarios we born. These hired assassins were
mostly young people in poverty who would kill whomever for the money. Moreover, when Escobar
was killed in 1993, the cities drug crime became arguably more violent since it was less organized and
there was a vacuum of power. Those Sicarios who previously had employment were left in an
organized enrolment of violence. This created a population which was homeless and was hyper aware
of death.
Throughout the movie religion and death are tied. At the beginning of the film, Alexis says we were
born to die. This is the mantra which most Sicarios incorporated into their daily life. The perception of
their own lives was complex, they would do anything to survive but often placed themselves in
situations at high risk. This phrase carries the same sentiment that the followers of Santa Muerte

Differences Between Fahrenheit And Fahrenheit
2.2 Compare + contrast the Kelvin, Fahrenheit, and Celsius temperature scales and be able to convert
values between scales.
Today we use three temperature scales. The first of these scales was Fahrenheit scale. It was
developed in 1714 by German scientist Daniel Gabriel Fahrenheit. He developed first mercury
thermometer after being inspired by alcohol thermometer invented by Danish scientist Olaus Roemer.
Fahrenheit made it more precise by multiplying his scale by four. He establish zero by mixing equal
amount of water, ice and salt. Then he mixed just equal amount of ice and salt, and scales gave him
next point 32. The last point he establish by using body temperature which was approximately 96.
After his death his scale was adjusted to 32 as melting temperature of plain water, normal body
temperature at 98.6 and boiling point of plain water at 212. Fahrenheit temperature scale was widely
replaced by Celsius scale, except USA and some Caribbean countries. Celsius scale was developed in
1742 by Swedish astronomer Andres Celsius. When he was developing his scale, he marked 0 as
boiling point and 100 as freezing point. This scale was known as centigrade. After his death in 1948
The Conference General des Poids et Measures renamed this scale to Celsius and establish the scale as
we know it today. Melting point at 0 degree and boiling point at 100 degrees. This scale is the most
use scale in the world. The last scale we use today is Kelvin scale. This scale has an advantage

Biblical View On Homosexuality And Religion
Biblical view on Homosexuality
In the bible God divinely established the institution of marriage, and this is seen in the garden of Eden
during creation. Marriage was a special gift to man from a loving God before the fall that led to evil
and pervasion entering the spiritual world of man. Marriage was designed by our creator to give
satisfaction to a person s deepest longings for intimacy, love, appreciation and care. The views of
marriage between Christians and Jews are fundamentally different and show the different ways that
they view the world in relation to how they interpret their own doctrine and how these views are
changing over time.
According to the Christian doctrine, reasons why people get married and traditional marriages are
becoming diminished at a faster rate than ever as the culture changes. This is very true for
contemporary culture, law, and society. A growing influence in secular ideologies and practice are
undermining biblical standards in family relations and sexual morality. Marital unfaithfulness, spousal
abuse, sex before marriage, cohabitation, pornography, and promiscuity; these among other liberated
lifestyles of married couples are bringing down the intuition of marriage. Moreover, alternative
sexualities like homosexuality included and other varieties of transgender identities are becoming
increasingly mainstream. In the course of years, the strict Christian community and Orthodox Judaism
have responded to this rapidly changing landscape

The argumentthat asset prices are set by rational investors is part of the grand oral traditionin
economics and is often attributedto Milton Friedman, one of the greatesteconomists of the century and
one of the greatestdebatersof all time. But the argument has two fundamental problems. First, even if
asset priceswere set only by rationalinvestors in the aggregate, knowing what individual investors are
doing might still be of interest. Second, although the argumentis intuitively appealing and reassuring,
its adherents have rarely spelled it out carefully. Suppose a markethas two kinds of investors: rational

Winston s Distortion Of Family In 1984 By George Orwell
Within the novel 1984, the Party has perverted many traditional human values. The Party has distorted
the minds of the citizens of Oceania so that they believe what is happening is right. The Party has
destroyed the value of true family, honesty, loyalty and love. For example, the Party encourages the
breakup of families. In fact, the protagonist in 1984, Winston Smith, drifted apart from his wife,
Katherine, due to the Party s distortion of family. The Party told Oceania citizens that the only
recognized purpose of marriage was to beget children for the service of the Party (65). Katherine took
this advice to heart. Katherine did not enjoy the sexual act of marriage, she did it as she called it our
duty to the party (67). However, because she could not bear a child with Winston, they parted. ...

Comparison Of The Movie And The Book
Watching the movie is so much more interesting, and it grabs your
imagination by the hand. There are not that many things that are different in the
movie. In fact the movie describes what?s going on a little better than the book.
Basically the book seems like an out line of the whole story and the book gets
into details a little more.
In the beginning of the book it talks about Tad going to bed and how
he?s a little nervous because he thinks there is a monster under his bed. His
father tucks him into bed and says good night. About 10 minutes later Tad
wakes up screaming his head off saying he sees a monster in his closet. The

Tad plays with Cujo for the first time. I
mean there are only small little things that are different in the book and movie.
Like when Tad wakes up the next morning there are couches and books in front
of his closet door (in the movie). Another comparison would be when Vic?s
wife cheats on him with Steve Kemp. Book talks about Steven a little, doesn?t?
really get into detail. It doesn?t talk about what he looks like or what attracts
her to him. The only really big change that is really noticeable would be when
Cujo attacks Vic?s wife and his son Tad, while they are still stuck in the car.
The book talks about how Cujo does run into the car and how he transfers
rabies into the mother but what it doesn?t talk about is how violent Cujo is. He
was going nuts trying to get into the car. He would run so hard into the car it
would knock him out, he?d get right back up again and run straight for the car.
Being a mother and watching our child die is hard enough but knowing that
your going to die of rabies is even harder. After she barely cracks the car door
open, Cujo frantically jumps in the car on top of her biting and tearing up her
leg. The only thing she could do is bang Cujo over the head with her thermos.
That?s the biggest difference between the book and movie.
Reading books isn?t the greatest thing in the world for me, but when

Qualitative and Quantitative Approaches
Business researchers utilize various forms of approaches to analyze and obtain information and data,
and two of the most popular approaches used are the qualitative research approach and quantitative
research approach. Each approach can be beneficial or in some cases may cause inconclusive results
depending on the type of research being conducted and what the nature of the study is. The following
will assess two different peer reviewed articles: one which uses a qualitative approach and the other a
quantitative approach. It ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Both approaches use single, assorted, and longitudinal methods in the research design, but quantitative
requires stringent consistency and also utilizes a cross sectional approach, along with longitudinal, in
order to acquire the most successful results. Quantitative research also maintains a clear distinction
between facts and judgments (Cooper Schindler, 2008). Quantitative research has numerous strengths
and weaknesses as well. The most popular and main form of quantitative research is the use of
surveys, which are cheaper and less costly than other forms of data collection. Another beneficial
quality of the quantitative approach is the lack of contact between the researcher and the participants,
which allows researchers to collect data that could be more biasedly based if used with the qualitative
approach. However, quantitative research has its downfalls. Because the sample sizes are so large it
lengthens the time of the data collection process and interviewing the participants again is usually not
possible, which could alter the consistency of the results (Cooper Schindler, 2008).
As stated before, most quantitative research studies are used to define or measure something. Many
medical studies employ quantitative research to define the measurements of a specific issue. One

Emergency Surgery Is Caused By Weak Blood Vessels That...
Brain aneurysms are caused by weak blood vessels that balloon and fill with blood which can fatally
rupture. Once an aneurysm has ruptured, emergency surgery is needed to prevent the patient from
suffering a subarachnoid hemorrhage, a fatal type of stroke. The insertion of a detachable embolic coil
can prevent rupturing of aneurysms and the need for emergency surgery. A technical study was
conducted which used an experimental model constructed in the necks of swine to simulate a specific
type of brain aneurysm (1). A combination of stents and Guglielmi Detachable Coils were then
inserted to inhibit the fatal bleeding into the brain. This research concluded that the Guglielmi

Once this wire to correctly inserted within the aneurysm, a 1 mA current is exerted on the delivery
wire. The current is meant to dissolve the steel delivery wire close to the platinum coil. This process is
done by electrolysis so simultaneously the positively charged platinum will attract the negatively
charged red and white blood cells, and platelets which causes intra aneurysmal thrombosis. If
thrombosis does not happen immediately, coils also most likely enforce critical protection against re
hemorrhage by reducing blood pulsations inside the aneurysm and sealing the weak portion of the
blood vessel s wall. Eventually thrombus will build within the aneurysm and the aneurysm is excluded
from the parent blood vessel by a layer of connective tissue. This has been successfully demonstrated
in experimental dog models that were effective in producing thrombosis of the aneurysm and suggest
that the design is useful in the endovascular treatment of aneurysms (2). Once this electrolysis process
has occurred, the delivery wire can be taken out, leaving the the coil in the proper position. Now an
additional coil can be inserted into the aneurysm and this process can be repeated until the aneurysm is
densely filled with the coils to prevent it from rupturing. The coils are constructed from platinum alloy
wire that is made into the primary coil first, and then formed

The Traits Of A Leader
Trait leadership is exactly what it says. It is leadership based on the traits a person holds. However, the
Trait Approach of looking at leadership also points out that people can emerge as a leader. Of the five
main traits, I see integrity as the most important and self confidence as the hardest to acquire. In class,
we looked at the five major traits of leaders; of intelligence, self confidence, determination, integrity,
and sociability. Intelligence is important for leaders to be able to communicate effectively with their
followers. Without the knowledge of being able to communicate with followers, there would not be
any followers doing the following. It would be chaos. In a business, if the leader in a group is in
charge of a project, but is unable to communicate with their team, the project will not be completed as
well as planned. Leaders need self confidence for many reasons, the most important being to show
followers to have confidence in their leader. If leaders don t believe in themselves, why would a
follower believe in them? The third trait discussed was determination. This trait would also reflect my
last idea on self confidence. Why would followers be determined to work and push through if the
leader isn t? Sociability plays hand in hand with being outgoing, in my eyes. An effective leader
would be able to get along with all followers, is friendly, and is enjoyable to be around. I feel as
though integrity should be the first trait discussed, as I feel it is

To counter soldiering and to improve efficiency, Taylor began to conduct experiments to determine the
best level of performance for certain jobs, and what was necessary to achieve this performance.
Time Studies Taylor argued that even the most basic, mindless tasks could be planned in a way that
dramatically would increase productivity, and that scientific management of the work was more
effective than the initiative and incentive method of motivating workers. The initiative and incentive
method offered an incentive to increase productivity but placed the responsibility on the worker to
figure out how to do it. To scientifically determine the optimal way to perform a job, Taylor performed
experiments that he called time studies, (also known as time and motion studies). These studies were
characterized by the use of a stopwatch to time a worker s sequence of motions, with the goal of
determining the one best way to perform a job. The following are examples of some of the time and
motion studies that were performed by Taylor and others in the era of scientific management.

It is easy for a study to be compromised by using a convenience sampling or by only sampling those
who were disappointed with a company or product unintentionally or purposely like in the case of
composition/division. For example is this a wide spread epidemic for all Walmart stores or was this
just a store or two in each state? Based on the map that showed where the lawsuits were filed, at the
time the video, in 31 states but not in New Jersey, and not in all 50 states which I found interesting.
Another factor that could play a role in the composition of those interviewed is how many people they
interviewed and whether they only interviewed those with negative feelings toward Walmart. If they
only interviewed people who were upset with Walmart the results would be expected to be as they
were, but if they interviewed ten or fifteen random people and got the same response, it would have a
better chance at being accurate and not biased. Lastly when the people felt like they were being
discriminated against, were there people of different ethnicities, males and females that thought they
were being discriminated against other than those shown in the video clip? This also depends on
whether they interviewed only people with a

Southwest Airlines Tribulations Essay
Southwest Airlines has faced many tribulations in its short history. From beating out the competition
of well established airlines to creating one of the most successful airlines in U.S. aviation history,
Southwest has always had a roadblock. Its first major roadblock was airline regulation. Southwest
particularly wanted to deregulate the airline industry so that it could expand, and participate in
interstate commerce. Regulation of the airline industry, in its plainest sense, was against the most
basic American business principle: capitalism. Southwest fought for deregulation and through the
work of many other parties, the Airline Deregulation Act of 1978 was signed into law by President
Carter. Southwest s first major hurdle was behind them, but little did they know that its next was right
around the corner. On January 13, 1974, the new Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW)
became operational. With its new design, massive runways, and terminals, DFW quickly became the
poster child of the metropolitan area. DFW swiftly overshadowed Dallas Love Field (DAL), reducing
traffic from 7 million in 1973 to just 500,000 in 1974 (CITATION). Many airlines relocated from DAL
to DFW; however, this was not enough for Jim Wright, the Democratic, U.S. Representative for the
Fort Worth area. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Power Of Artificial Intelligence
The power of Artificial Intelligence (AI) is growing at an alarmingly dangerous rate and has the
potential to take over the world if we do not come together as a whole and put regulations on the
usage of it. Artificial Intelligence is defined as The capability of a machine to imitate intelligent
human behavior (Merriam Webster). As we know Artificial intelligence now, it is fairly simple for the
uses that we have for it, such as SIRI on Apple devices, AI controlled video game opponents, and
Google s search algorithms predicting what you are going to type into its search bar. That is only the
beginning of Artificial Intelligence s many capabilities. Global militaries are researching and
developing technology for war that uses AI, car manufacturers are teaching AI how to drive cars by
itself, IBM uses its AI creation Watson to help businesses make decisions and grow, and thousands of
other major companies and powerful nations are using it in many unique ways. It contains many
different unique parts, but the main uses are: Learning, Reasoning, Perception, Reasoning, Problem
solving, and using Natural Language (Copeland 2017). We need to regulate or eliminate the use of AI
in war around the globe, stabilize the economy after implementation of AI, and reduce or eliminate the
inequality caused by it. AI controlled killing machines used in warfare, sounds cool, right? They might
sound like quite the sight to see, but what happens when they become smart enough and decide to turn
against the people who created them and are using them for their own gain? How do we stop them?
That is one question that many people have, but none seemed to know the answer. What are the ethics
behind using robots to kill people? For example, is it not just as bad as a government that has chemical
weapons, that uses them against people that do not? None of the government s forces are harmed, yet
thousands of people are harmed and killed from the weapons, and it only takes one fighter jet and pilot
to drop the bomb. It is the same with the AI controlled robots, they could be deployed halfway across
the world, yet be controlled by someone on the complete other side of earth, without any threat of
danger or harm. We need regulations like

Camus Arguments Against The Great Replacement
In 2015, the Syrian civil war has displaced more than 4 million to refugee camps in neighbouring
countries like Turkey, Jordan and Lebanon. Refugees have since began their journey, seeking
rumoured employment opportunities and social benefits in destination countries, on boats or pay
smugglers without any guarantee on safety and welfare. The influx of refugees on EU s shores stunned
its members with pressures of uncontrolled migration and rising political, security and social issues.
The current crisis exposed EU s incompetence in creating swift and unanimous decision from its states
to deal with the mass of refugees. Political rifts among its governments have forced self serving

Susan Glaspell s Trifles And A Jury Of Her Peers
Unit 8 Essay Susan Glaspell s texts, Trifles and A Jury of Her Peers relay a singular story setting, but
are different in the styles in which they are told. While there are many similarities and differences
between the texts, the perspective and point of view play a big role in the telling of the overall story.
The different changes of point of view can change, Well, Mr. Hale, tell just what happened when you
came here yesterday morning (Trifles 209) to Someone should have been left here yesterday, said the
county attorney ( A Jury of Her Peers 2). The change in either the point of view or perspective can

The different perspectives of a story can create a natural bias for us, based on the way that as story
may be told. However, as we are exposed to even more points of view that the singular ones we
usually get within a single text, we get to better understand and interpret the texts to get the full
overall meaning of the stories. The points of view of a story may differ in the way that they may tell a
story and also outline the events which have occurred within the story. Within Susan Glaspell s stories,
we can see how point of view and perspective can change the way we think of a story, just by getting

Post War Soviet Outlook Essay
Section 1: Basic Features of Post War Soviet Outlook, as Put Forward by Official Propaganda
Machine, are as Follows:
(a) USSR still lives in adversarial industrialist enclosure with which over the long haul there can be no
perpetual quiet conjunction. As expressed by Stalin in 1927 to an assignment of American specialists:
In course of further improvement of universal unrest there will rise two focuses of world criticalness:
a communist focus, attracting to itself the nations which incline toward communism, and an
entrepreneur focus, attracting to itself the nations that slope toward free enterprise. Fight between
these two habitats for the order of world economy will choose the destiny of free enterprise and of

In climate of oriental mystery and connivance, which overruns this Government, conceivable
outcomes for contorting or harming sources and streams of data are boundless. The very lack of regard
of Russians for target truth in fact, their doubt in its presence drives them to view every expressed
reality as instruments for advancement of some ulterior reason. There is justifiable reason motivation
to suspect that this Government is really a scheme inside of an intrigue; and I for one am hesitant to
accept that Stalin himself gets anything like a target picture of outside world. Here there is abundant
extension for the sort of unpretentious interest at which Russians are past experts. Powerlessness of
outside governments to put their case decisively before Russian approach creators degree to which
they are conveyed up in their relations with Russia to great graces of dark and obscure consultants

Moscow, and one which Western statesmen would do well to remember in the event that they would

Protest For The National Anthem Of The United States
Emily Petrochuk Professor Psenicka English 102 31 October 2016 Protests to the National Anthem of
the United States A famous sports figure in history once said, I cannot stand and sing the anthem. I
cannot salute the flag. I know that I am a black man in a white world (McKirdy). At first glance, this
quote seems to be something that would have been said by the San Francisco 49ers Quarterback, Colin
Kaepernick, in light of his recent protests, as well as other sports players who decided to follow suit,
to the playing of the national anthem before football games. However, this is not the case. The above
quote was written in the 1972 autobiography, I Never Had it Made, written by Jackie Robinson, an
African American Baseball player (McKirdy). Colin Kaepernick obviously felt the same as Jackie
Robinson did when he sat on the bench rather than standing during a rendition of the national anthem
before a preseason game against the Green Bay Packers on August 26. During an interview with the
media following the game, Kaepernick explained why he refused to stand for the anthem, I am not
going to stand up to show pride in a flag for a country that oppresses black people and people of color.
To me, this is bigger than football and it would be selfish on my part to look the other way. There are
bodies in the street and people getting paid leave and getting away with murder (Wyche). Kaepernick
explains that he refused to stand for the national anthem because of the

Asset Value Of A Mutual Fund Essay
A mutual fund is one of the investment programs that is a pool of funds from many investors, and
trade in securities such as diversified holdings, stocks, bonds, mortgages, money market instruments,
other securities etc... Professional portfolio managers use the money from the investors to buy
securities to meet the funds investment objectives. Investors own units that represent a proportionate
share of all of mutual funds assets. Net asset value per unit (NAVPU) is used to process the price for
the individual unit of the mutual fund. Net asset value will change is due to the fluctuation (rise or
fall) in the market value of the asset held by the funds.
Mutual funds are under securities regulations. The Mutual Fund Dealers Associations of Canada is
national self regulatory organization in the Canadian mutual fund industry. The MFDA regulates and
oversights the business conducts of its members, and their representatives to protect the investors and
reinforce public confidence in mutual fund industry.
The advantages of the Mutual funds are professionally managed by portfolio management, and
attempt to generate income such as capital gains on sales, dividends on stocks or interest on bonds for
the investors. Most of Investors purchase in mutual funds due to the lack of time or expertise to
manage their own portfolios. Investing in a mutual fund is a relatively inexpensive to a small investor
to get a full time portfolio manager to control or monitor their investments.

Doe V. Taylor Independent School Case Study
Doe v. Taylor Independent School District, 7.3 (5th Circ. 1994). This article discusses Jane Doe, a
Texas high school girl sexually molested by a high school teacher. Jane Doe filed a civil suit against
Taylor independent School District. The reasons were, the school board permitted violations of due
process and violated her equal protection rights. Jane thoroughly established her constitutional rights
and proceeded with her claim. The teacher violated the fourteenth amendment to be free from sexual
abuse by a state employed teacher. The court ruled in favor of Doe, stating that there was no action
taken in order to prevent the violation of her rights. This case impressed me, it was very interesting. I
believe that the teacher violated the student rights and the school failed to properly respond to the
claims of molestation. I was also shocked that the school district was not proactive toward Doe needs.

Another Common Environmental Factor That Engineers Are
Another common environmental factor that engineers are concerned with when they consider the
conditions of bridges is wind loads. These are especially a hazard to cable supported bridges because
the system relies on a delicate balance of pressure that holds up the bridge, which can be easily
disturbed under high winds. One example of this is the Tacoma bridge failure in Washington state in
1940. While examining the evidence, engineers found that when the wind hits the body of the bridge,
it creates forces that oscillated the bridge, which caused instability (Gianni and Gazzola). Additionally,
when these bridges were built, the environment they were in was drastically different than it is today.
Although engineers took population increase ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although this was the specific reason for the collapse, the broader problem was inadequacies in state
inspections and the federal government failing to audit the state`s work adequately.
Another reason why designs of bridges fail is because there is not cohesiveness in the theory behind
construction and actual construction. Sometimes construction is either too dependent on theory or
ignorant of it, either way the assumptions made during design and construction are dangerous. This is
shown in the case of the Williamsburg Bridge where:
The rationale justifying the use of non galvanized high strength cable wires on the Williamsburg
Bridge was summarized as follows: If the wires are maintained dry, they do not need zinc coating. If
not, it will not save them in the long term. This reasoning may appear sound, yet it lacks both the
practical knowledge of life cycle cable performance and a theoretical model of wire deterioration.
(Yanev 119)
This gap between theory and practice in directly related to a gap between engineers and management.
Currently, engineers are in control of the design and construction, but the process of this operation is
given to management whose primary concern is cutting production cost. Consequently, necessary
redundancies are lost during construction. Although this eliminates initial cost, it increases future cost
because

I See Flags
During my guided reading practice, I decided to choose two students that read at a level A. These two
students were grouped together because they need almost the same help in order for them to grow as a
reader. For this guided reading practice, I decided to choose the book I See Flags by Wiley Blevins.
This book is a level B book. I choose this book because students are learning about maps during social
studies, but also I wanted students to see the different flags from other countries. I wanted the students
to know that flags do not come in the same color or shapes. With this book, the students are able to see
and read about the different kind of flags and the different shapes that flags can have. With this
activity, students are able to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I asked them where they have seen flags before. I was amazed with the student s responses, some of
the students said a post office, an army office, school, stores, cars, and other. After we finished
discussing where they have seen flags, I ask them to read the story. When students were reading, I
notice that the students were taking their time to read and they focus more on the words than looking
at the pictures. When I was helping out the students I told them that they are able to look at the
pictures in order for them to check and see if what they are saying makes sense. After I told the
students this strategy, students were looking at the pictures and sounding out the words in order for
them to check if what they said made sense in the text. Then, I ask them what kind of shapes did the
flags contain and to compare and contrast the flags. I asked to students to turn to the last page of the
book and look at the United States flag and the Mexico flag. The students compare both of the flags.
They said that the Mexico flag has a symbol while the United States flag has stars. Both students had
an opportunity to answer the question and they were able to examine both of the

  • 2. Microorganisms In this essay I will be analysing micro organisms and disease. Firstly I will be defining micro organisms and then explaining the key features of the main categories of microorganisms. Followed by the roles of commensals and pathogens I will then go on to explain how micro organisms are transmitted and the routes of entry to and exit from the human body of micro organisms. I will also be explaining the logical sequence of events that occur from entry of a micro organism to the body to the appearance of symptoms of a disease and then go onto discuss why not all infections lead to a disease. Finally I will explain a logical sequence the signs, symptoms and treatments of yellow fever which is an infectious disease. Micro organisms are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Fungi such as mushroom, molds, and yeasts are eukaryotic cells with a true nucleus. Most fungi are multicellular and their cell wall is composed of chitin. They obtain nutrients by absorbing organic material from their environment decomposers, through symbiotic relationships with plants (symbionts), or harmful relationships with a host (parasites). They form characteristic filamentous tubes called hyphae that help absorb material. The collection of hyphae is called mycelium. Fungi reproduce by releasing spores. Protozoa are unicellular aerobic eukaryotes. They have a nucleus, complex organelles, and obtain nourishment by absorption or ingestion through specialized structures. They make up the largest group of organisms in the world in terms of numbers, biomass, and diversity. Their cell walls are made up of cellulose. Protozoa have been traditionally divided based on their mode of locomotion: flagellates produce their own food and use their whip like structure to propel forward, ciliates have tiny hair that beat to produce movement, amoeboids have false feet or pseudopodia used for feeding and locomotion, and sporozoans are non motile. They also have different means of nutrition, which groups them as autotrophs or heterotrophs. Viruses are noncellular entities that consist of a nucleic acid core (DNA or RNA) surrounded by a protein coat. Although viruses are classified as microorganisms, they are not considered living organisms. Viruses cannot reproduce ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Reflective Reflection On Hinduism Ranjeet Chaudhari FYI 102 12 Dr. Salgado Hinduism Reflection Hinduism is a major world and oldest extant religion with a billion followers which started in the Indian subcontinent. It has a variety of systems of philosophy, belief, and ritual, characterized by the belief in reincarnation one absolute being of multiple manifestations, the law of cause and effect, following the path of righteousness, and the desire for liberation from the cycle of births and deaths. Hinduism refers to rich tradition of texts and practices, some of which date back to the second millennium BC or possibly earlier. I do not want to make a case for either the monotheistic or polytheistic imagination and say that one is better than the other. In healthy people both can fruitfully coexist, and both have their drawbacks. The downside to the monotheistic imagination is a tendency toward one sided absolutism. It is crazy that there are millions of Gods in Hinduism, but Christianity has only one. Hindus are encouraged to relate to god in the way that suits them best, like worshipping many deities who are believed to be manifestations of God. I think people believe in multiple Gods because just like an organization that has different people who take up different roles, different Gods have different responsibilities. Because gods aren t supported by evidence, people have to use their imagination to interpret their will, which due to the absence of evidence, will vary from person to person, and nobody can demonstrate, with evidence, that one person s imagined god id any more real than anyone else s imagined god. As everyone knows that god is everywhere and watches us, and in Hinduism also they believe that god is everywhere and in everything. So, the polytheistic imaginations in Hinduism makes sense since they believe God is everywhere, Hindus worship pretty much everything like Stones, directions, plants, animals ... • 4. Who Is The Spinning Jenny And How Is It Significant To The... In 1764, during the Industrial Revolution, the textiles industry changed forever when the first spinning machine was invented. The Royal Society of Arts offered a prize for an invention that could spin six threads at once but would only need one person to attend to it. One of the inventors that took to the challenge was James Hargreaves, 1720 to 1778, who produced the Spinning Jenny, a machine that mechanically reproduced the actions of the hand spinner. The Spinning Jenny was significant to the development and progress of the Industrial Revolution and it also had a momentous impact on not only yarn production but also people s lives, in particular people in England. The 1764 invention, that wasn t patented until 1770, had eight smaller wheels, instead of one, which allowed the operator to spin eight threads at the one time, as shown in source two. This modern day sketch shows the design and construction of the Spinning Jenny and how all eight different spindles were powered by a single wheel. This meant that one spinster could produce eight threads in the same time it had previously taken to produce one. This advance in spinning machinery meant that the quality and strength of yarn and cloth was greatly improved. Hargreaves invention best spun the short fibres of regular length, such as cotton. The cotton yarn produced was considered to be of very good quality. However, the wool yarn from the Spinning Jenny was quite unsatisfactory. This was due to the irregular lengths which resulted in lumpy, uneven ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Utilitarianism is based on the greatest happiness principle in that it rates actions good or bad based on the greatest good or happiness caused as the consequence of said action. Actions are right in proportion as they tend to promote happiness, wrong as they tend to produce the reverse of happiness (John Stuart Mill.) The Greatest Happiness Principle embraces that actions are right in degree as they have a tendency to endorse happiness, wrong as they tend to create the opposite of happiness. • 6. Analysis Of The Movie Orange Is The New Black The Netflix original series, Orange Is the New Black takes a consumerist approach to sexuality, by repetitively featuring sexual relations among inmates as a way to attract viewers. (Schwan) Orange Is the New Black neglects to explore emotional attachment beyond a need to fulfill sexual needs and minimize loneliness while in prison. Bisexual female characters, if given the opportunity, often leave their female partner for a relationship with a male, downgrading the realism of an actual bisexual lifestyle. Although lesbian activity is presented throughout, only women with this body type are presented in a highly sexualized male gaze viewpoint. (TrierBieniek) The sexual relations presented display an objectifying, exploitative portrayal of lesbian sexuality. (Schwan) Although, Orange Is the New Black s cast is exceptionally diverse, the show only films sex scenes between slender inmates. Ultimately, the show presents LGBTQ characters in a non threatening light, but features bisexuality as a temporary sexual encounter of convenience. Orange Is the New Black s prison setting follows a fictional trend of connecting female same sex desire and mental and criminal pathology. (Filippo) The show s oversexed storyline reinforces society s stereotypes and female prisoners: that they are violent, worthless, sex crazed monsters. (Cecil) Also, illustrating bisexuality and other forms of deviant female sexuality are likened more to mental and criminal deviance. (Filippo) The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. The Material Flow And Variable Chances For Improvement Abstract: Among the challenges faced by manufacturers in mean time, Improvement in material efficiency and the impact of material on environment are given most priority. Presently, managements mainly focus on maximizing outputs in economic terms but not on the damage caused due to processing and disposal of material. Few methods can determine the product s impact on environment but no method can assess the material efficiency in production system. This Journal Material Flow Assessment in Manufacturing System shows the framework for effective material flow and variable chances for improvement. Introduction: Resource Efficient Manufacturing (REM) focuses on reducing production costs like labor, material, energy costs and to maximize profits, increasing output sales. Certain tools for REM such as lean manufacturing and process optimization seems to be inadequate to meet sustainability goals. Resources which has greater financial impact on business are mainly focused by managers and given higher priority. Availability of resources is linked with other sources, the degree of scarcity of certain source is specified to both region and season. Material Efficiency Strategies: The provision of product with less material production has clear environmental benefits as the decreased amount of material used in production will ultimately reduce the impact on environment. MES are grouped as design changes and process changes. Material elimination, minimization, reducing yield losses and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Untwine Analysis The last huge piece of Untwine is how religion and hope can change a person. We learn right away that the Boyer family goes to church every Sunday, and has much hope in God. But how that hope in God fades away changes Giselle and her overall hope for happiness. One example of this is when pastor Ben is telling the family that she will wake up. Like Lazarus. (pg 52). This message from pastor Ben gave the reader a sense of the belief of the Boyers, and the hope they have in situations because of their belief that everyone would have a chance to wake up and be heard. Another important thing to realize was when Giselle said who would I be? Who could I be without her? (pg 51). This revealed some of her feelings to God as she thought this. It ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The song The Firebird has a very fast moving, bipolar feel to it, which resembles Giselle s feeling towards the situation of blaming God in my opinion. Another example of her feelings to God is when Giselle says their thinking nothing bad can ever happen to them (pg 51). It showed her overall lementation with her mind, but also with God. Giselle clearly chooses to blame her sisters death on anyone, as she chooses to blame it on one of the biggest people in her life that she keeps her hope and faith in. Maybe Giselle chooses to do this because she can t think of the real person to blame. Maybe she chooses to do this because she s too afraid to come to the true reality of her situation and her silent grief is too much for her to handle, so she needs support to get through everything. And maybe everything is just blaming who she can. But Giselle chooses to blame God, and God is where her and her family put their hope. Switching over to Regla de Palo, we see that this relationship seems a lot more strained and possessive than one of Regla de Ocha. A major reason why many Cuban officials (and many laypeople) choose to not outwardly partake in this religion is because of its known ability to backfire on those who are followers, since they generally use the spirits for personal gain. A relationship with a spirit in Rela de Ocha is similar to one of great abuse if we were to humanize the two parties. The spirit or muerto is trapped in either a bottle or nganga and works for the person who wields the object of entrapment. The main way a palero (priest) of Regla de Ocha establishes a relationship with a spirit is through the collection of the bones of a passed priestess or priest. The process of obtaining bones from a person not directly related to you is illegal in Cuba; however, exhumed skeletons which are claimed in time are generally sold to paleros in search of new muertos to help them prosper. What Is Strategy Sarah Carpentier 2016_PG41_07 Strategic Management 27 janvier 2016 Executive summary « What is strategy ? » Porter Operational effectiveness is not strategy First of all, we have to distinguish two concepts: operational effectiveness from strategy. Operational effectiveness is of course necessary for a company, but it is not sufficient: each company needs its own strategy. A strategy is a plan for the company, which has to establish a difference with its competitors, and has to preserve it in order to create a greater value. Strategy positioning is choosing different ways to achieve similar activities from the competitors. Operational effectiveness means performing similar activities better than the competitors can do. Strategic positions can be based on 3 sources : variety based positioning in which the company produce a subset of an industry s products or services needs based positioning in which the company satisfy all needs of a segment of customers access based positioning in which the company satisfy different segment of customers according to their customer geography or customer scale. Strategy positioning can be define as a difference on the supply side, that is to say a difference in activities. By choosing a strategy, the company chooses a unique and valuable position, with different activities from its competitors. A sustainable strategic position requires trade offs Nonetheless, defining a unique position can t be sufficient, because the competitors can copy this position (they can reposition themselves or they can straddle).

Shakespeare gave more human qualities to a villain than it was already shown in sixteen century s plays. Shakespeare s villain like Edmund, Iago and Richard iii express their intentions and motives in the soliloquy effectively. Soliloquy helps them to build a connection with audience while explaining their motives (Jones, 2010) Edmund was the brother of Edgar, he goes onany heights to achieve his goals and also deceived his father and brother. He is strong and had a great mind which can easily analyse the situations (Lofgren, 2010). His extreme egoism compels him to use his social disadvantage as an excuse for honorable self advancements. His plot was motivated by his egoism and his thirst for power. Edmund was the cold blooded opportunist and wouldn t miss a chance to manipulate Lear political issues in his favor. He had no family feeling that s why he gets rid of his brother firstly and then deceived his father. Immigration, Offshoring And American Jobs Essay Young Bo Moh April 13, 2016 Immigration In 2014, President Obama claimed, For more than 200 years, our tradition of welcoming immigrants from around the world has given us a tremendous advantage over other nations. It s kept us youthful, dynamic, and entrepreneurial. It has shaped our character as a people with limitless possibilities (Office of the Press Secretary, 2014). What makes the United States the United States? Our country s success and culture comes from the power of immigrants. But this is not to brag about our historical foundation, rather talk about immigration being a significant variable in our economy. First, immigration brings creative ideas to the American economy. Immigrants bring their culture from their homelands, and it strengthens the population by enriching their ideas (Kelly, 2013). In addition, it creates more jobs. The study, Immigration, Offshoring and American Jobs by Professor Ottaviano of Bocconi University and Professor Peri of the UC Davis, notes that low skilled immigrants usually fill gaps in American labor markets and generally enhance domestic business prospects rather than destroy jobs (Cowen, 2010). In addition, immigrants including the unauthorized people create jobs through their purchasing power and entrepreneurship. (American Immigration Council, 2015). According to the Economic Report of the President, immigration added roughly 0.2 percent to GDP: $31.4 billion (American Immigration Council, 2015). To sum it up, a study by the ... The environment around us has a powerful influence on the decisions that we produce and the views that we as American citizens choose to hold. After a semester in political science class my views and my political ideology have altered. Today I will explain how political science class has influenced my political ideology. As I stated in my last paper, schooling is very important to the success of our country. Although there are people that will argue that school should not be mandatory if the family must send there children to work to provide money for housing, I would have to disagree. Since there are social programs for providing food and shelter, education should not be neglected. When education is neglected, those children have a chance of becoming burdens to society rather than benefits. School develops leaders and followers of society, and provides a structure for those who may need it in their lives. After a semester in political science class, I found that many of the liberals in my class did not know very much about the issues that made them liberals. Since the class is an introduction to the American political system, that fact did not bother me as much as it normally would. Since the issue of media was hot topic to talk about, I thought that most of the students in my class had realized the medias bad reviews of conservatives. Unfortunlty that was not the case, Most of students denied that the media was liberal until proven to them. I cannot blame the students in my class for the things they have been taught by television. A lack of education is to blame for that problem. By now you know that media is one of the issues that I have added to my new paper. I found that the media has made many individuals ... • 19. Othello s Influence On The World Of Opera Verdi s Othello has had a profound influence on the world of opera, and considered by many critics to be his best work. Othello has been performed throughout the world, debuting in over 25 countries within the first fifty years of its creation (Stanford). It has been performed all over the globe by world renowned operettists, in theatres such as the Lincoln Center in New York, the Sydney Opera House in Sydney, and the Bolshoi in Russia. Othello is about a general who is led to believe his wife is cheating on him, when in reality she is not, and deceived by Iago, a man he trusted. Othello has two love duets between the same characters, but with very different moods and relationships, which are portrayed through the dialogue, the stage actions, and most importantly the musical strategies employed. The opera Othello was written by Verdi, one of the most prominent opera writers in the late 1800 s. He was born in 1813 in northern Italy, however, most of his work took place in Milan, Italy. This is where, on February 5th of 1887, Othello was first performed, at the Teatro alla Scala (Stanford). Verdi s opera Othello is based off of Shakespeare s play Othello, which was written in 1622. Verdi based many of his operas off of Shakespeare s plays, such as his opera Macbeth that was based on the play Macbeth, first performed in 1847, and his opera Falstaff, based on the play The Merry Wives of Windsor, first performed in 1893. In the previous page, some ideas were depicted, in order to frame Cordys and Jan Baan s reasons for success into a common framework. This shows the connection between an awareness of new emerging trends in the software industry and Baan s personal characteristics. Having set this framework and mentioned the casual ambiguity and mutual interdependence amongst all the reasons for success, the first reason for success I can argue is a combination between an opportunistic personal trait and an innovative approach to problem solving. In other words, Jan Baan has always been ready to sense an opportunity and innovate to succeed (Baan 2010, p. 23; Eppink 2010). This burning desire for innovation was a fundamental cornerstone in both The Baan Company in the past, and Cordys nowadays. He himself stated that he expected his enterprises to be trend setters and not followers (Baan 2005, p.123). Specifically, in the case of Cordys, Baan detected that the software industry required an agile consumer driven innovation (Eppink 2010). Indeed, innovation is crucial if a small firm wants to grow and be successful (Barringer and Ireland 2010). Furthermore supportive networks developed around clusters could boost innovation (Burns 2007, p70). Interestingly, this was also true for Jan Baan, who in early stages involved his brother, and simultaneously built up a close network in his home country, the Netherlands. Marriage was designed by our creator to give satisfaction to a person s deepest longings for intimacy, love, appreciation and care. The views of marriage between Christians and Jews are fundamentally different and show the different ways that they view the world in relation to how they interpret their own doctrine and how these views are changing over time. According to the Christian doctrine, reasons why people get married and traditional marriages are becoming diminished at a faster rate than ever as the culture changes. This is very true for contemporary culture, law, and society. A growing influence in secular ideologies and practice are undermining biblical standards in family relations and sexual morality. Both approaches use single, assorted, and longitudinal methods in the research design, but quantitative requires stringent consistency and also utilizes a cross sectional approach, along with longitudinal, in order to acquire the most successful results. Quantitative research also maintains a clear distinction between facts and judgments (Cooper Schindler, 2008). Quantitative research has numerous strengths and weaknesses as well. The most popular and main form of quantitative research is the use of surveys, which are cheaper and less costly than other forms of data collection. Another beneficial quality of the quantitative approach is the lack of contact between the researcher and the participants, which allows researchers to collect data that could be more biasedly based if used with the qualitative approach. However, quantitative research has its downfalls. Because the sample sizes are so large it lengthens the time of the data collection process and interviewing the participants again is usually not possible, which could alter the consistency of the results (Cooper Schindler, 2008). Once an aneurysm has ruptured, emergency surgery is needed to prevent the patient from suffering a subarachnoid hemorrhage, a fatal type of stroke. The insertion of a detachable embolic coil can prevent rupturing of aneurysms and the need for emergency surgery. A technical study was conducted which used an experimental model constructed in the necks of swine to simulate a specific type of brain aneurysm (1). A combination of stents and Guglielmi Detachable Coils were then inserted to inhibit the fatal bleeding into the brain. This research concluded that the Guglielmi Detachable embolic coil is a high impact device because it can ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Once this wire to correctly inserted within the aneurysm, a 1 mA current is exerted on the delivery wire. The current is meant to dissolve the steel delivery wire close to the platinum coil. This process is done by electrolysis so simultaneously the positively charged platinum will attract the negatively charged red and white blood cells, and platelets which causes intra aneurysmal thrombosis. If thrombosis does not happen immediately, coils also most likely enforce critical protection against re hemorrhage by reducing blood pulsations inside the aneurysm and sealing the weak portion of the blood vessel s wall. Eventually thrombus will build within the aneurysm and the aneurysm is excluded from the parent blood vessel by a layer of connective tissue. This has been successfully demonstrated in experimental dog models that were effective in producing thrombosis of the aneurysm and suggest that the design is useful in the endovascular treatment of aneurysms (2). Once this electrolysis process has occurred, the delivery wire can be taken out, leaving the the coil in the proper position. Now an additional coil can be inserted into the aneurysm and this process can be repeated until the aneurysm is densely filled with the coils to prevent it from rupturing. The coils are constructed from platinum alloy wire that is made into the primary coil first, and then formed ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 38. The Traits Of A Leader Trait leadership is exactly what it says. It is leadership based on the traits a person holds. However, the Trait Approach of looking at leadership also points out that people can emerge as a leader. Of the five main traits, I see integrity as the most important and self confidence as the hardest to acquire. In class, we looked at the five major traits of leaders; of intelligence, self confidence, determination, integrity, and sociability. Intelligence is important for leaders to be able to communicate effectively with their followers. Without the knowledge of being able to communicate with followers, there would not be any followers doing the following. It would be chaos. In a business, if the leader in a group is in charge of a project, but is unable to communicate with their team, the project will not be completed as well as planned. Leaders need self confidence for many reasons, the most important being to show followers to have confidence in their leader. If leaders don t believe in themselves, why would a follower believe in them? The third trait discussed was determination. This trait would also reflect my last idea on self confidence. Why would followers be determined to work and push through if the leader isn t? Sociability plays hand in hand with being outgoing, in my eyes. An effective leader would be able to get along with all followers, is friendly, and is enjoyable to be around. I feel as though integrity should be the first trait discussed, as I feel it is ... To counter soldiering and to improve efficiency, Taylor began to conduct experiments to determine the best level of performance for certain jobs, and what was necessary to achieve this performance. Time Studies Taylor argued that even the most basic, mindless tasks could be planned in a way that dramatically would increase productivity, and that scientific management of the work was more effective than the initiative and incentive method of motivating workers. The initiative and incentive method offered an incentive to increase productivity but placed the responsibility on the worker to figure out how to do it. To scientifically determine the optimal way to perform a job, Taylor performed experiments that he called time studies, (also known as time and motion studies). These studies were characterized by the use of a stopwatch to time a worker s sequence of motions, with the goal of determining the one best way to perform a job. The following are examples of some of the time and motion studies that were performed by Taylor and others in the era of scientific management. Pig Iron If workers were moving 12 1/2 tons of pig iron per day and they could be incentivized to try to move 47 1/2 tons per day, left to their own wits they probably would become exhausted after a few hours and fail to reach their goal. Based on the map that showed where the lawsuits were filed, at the time the video, in 31 states but not in New Jersey, and not in all 50 states which I found interesting. Another factor that could play a role in the composition of those interviewed is how many people they interviewed and whether they only interviewed those with negative feelings toward Walmart. If they only interviewed people who were upset with Walmart the results would be expected to be as they were, but if they interviewed ten or fifteen random people and got the same response, it would have a better chance at being accurate and not biased. Lastly when the people felt like they were being discriminated against, were there people of different ethnicities, males and females that thought they were being discriminated against other than those shown in the video clip? • 42. Southwest Airlines Tribulations Essay Southwest Airlines has faced many tribulations in its short history. From beating out the competition of well established airlines to creating one of the most successful airlines in U.S. aviation history, Southwest has always had a roadblock. Its first major roadblock was airline regulation. Southwest particularly wanted to deregulate the airline industry so that it could expand, and participate in interstate commerce. Regulation of the airline industry, in its plainest sense, was against the most basic American business principle: capitalism. Southwest fought for deregulation and through the work of many other parties, the Airline Deregulation Act of 1978 was signed into law by President Carter. Southwest s first major hurdle was behind them, but little did they know that its next was right around the corner. On January 13, 1974, the new Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) became operational. With its new design, massive runways, and terminals, DFW quickly became the poster child of the metropolitan area. DFW swiftly overshadowed Dallas Love Field (DAL), reducing traffic from 7 million in 1973 to just 500,000 in 1974 (CITATION). Many airlines relocated from DAL to DFW; however, this was not enough for Jim Wright, the Democratic, U.S. Representative for the Fort Worth area. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 43. Power Of Artificial Intelligence The power of Artificial Intelligence (AI) is growing at an alarmingly dangerous rate and has the potential to take over the world if we do not come together as a whole and put regulations on the usage of it. Artificial Intelligence is defined as The capability of a machine to imitate intelligent human behavior (Merriam Webster). As we know Artificial intelligence now, it is fairly simple for the uses that we have for it, such as SIRI on Apple devices, AI controlled video game opponents, and Google s search algorithms predicting what you are going to type into its search bar. That is only the beginning of Artificial Intelligence s many capabilities. Global militaries are researching and developing technology for war that uses AI, car manufacturers are teaching AI how to drive cars by itself, IBM uses its AI creation Watson to help businesses make decisions and grow, and thousands of other major companies and powerful nations are using it in many unique ways. It contains many different unique parts, but the main uses are: Learning, Reasoning, Perception, Reasoning, Problem solving, and using Natural Language (Copeland 2017). We need to regulate or eliminate the use of AI in war around the globe, stabilize the economy after implementation of AI, and reduce or eliminate the inequality caused by it. AI controlled killing machines used in warfare, sounds cool, right? They might sound like quite the sight to see, but what happens when they become smart enough and decide to turn against the people who created them and are using them for their own gain? How do we stop them? That is one question that many people have, but none seemed to know the answer. What are the ethics behind using robots to kill people? For example, is it not just as bad as a government that has chemical weapons, that uses them against people that do not? None of the government s forces are harmed, yet thousands of people are harmed and killed from the weapons, and it only takes one fighter jet and pilot to drop the bomb. It is the same with the AI controlled robots, they could be deployed halfway across the world, yet be controlled by someone on the complete other side of earth, without any threat of danger or harm. I cannot salute the flag. I know that I am a black man in a white world (McKirdy). At first glance, this quote seems to be something that would have been said by the San Francisco 49ers Quarterback, Colin Kaepernick, in light of his recent protests, as well as other sports players who decided to follow suit, to the playing of the national anthem before football games. However, this is not the case. The above quote was written in the 1972 autobiography, I Never Had it Made, written by Jackie Robinson, an African American Baseball player (McKirdy). Colin Kaepernick obviously felt the same as Jackie Robinson did when he sat on the bench rather than standing during a rendition of the national anthem before a preseason game against the Green Bay Packers on August 26. During an interview with the media following the game, Kaepernick explained why he refused to stand for the anthem, I am not going to stand up to show pride in a flag for a country that oppresses black people and people of color. • 51. Another Common Environmental Factor That Engineers Are Another common environmental factor that engineers are concerned with when they consider the conditions of bridges is wind loads. These are especially a hazard to cable supported bridges because the system relies on a delicate balance of pressure that holds up the bridge, which can be easily disturbed under high winds. One example of this is the Tacoma bridge failure in Washington state in 1940. While examining the evidence, engineers found that when the wind hits the body of the bridge, it creates forces that oscillated the bridge, which caused instability (Gianni and Gazzola). Additionally, when these bridges were built, the environment they were in was drastically different than it is today. Although engineers took population increase ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Although this was the specific reason for the collapse, the broader problem was inadequacies in state inspections and the federal government failing to audit the state`s work adequately. Another reason why designs of bridges fail is because there is not cohesiveness in the theory behind construction and actual construction. Sometimes construction is either too dependent on theory or ignorant of it, either way the assumptions made during design and construction are dangerous. This is shown in the case of the Williamsburg Bridge where: The rationale justifying the use of non galvanized high strength cable wires on the Williamsburg Bridge was summarized as follows: If the wires are maintained dry, they do not need zinc coating. If not, it will not save them in the long term. This reasoning may appear sound, yet it lacks both the practical knowledge of life cycle cable performance and a theoretical model of wire deterioration. (Yanev 119) This gap between theory and practice in directly related to a gap between engineers and management. Currently, engineers are in control of the design and construction, but the process of this operation is given to management whose primary concern is cutting production cost. Consequently, necessary redundancies are lost during construction. Although this eliminates initial cost, it increases future cost because ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
